Irish superstar Katie Taylor will face Amanda Serrano in HUGE co-main event to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson this July on Netflix, as she relishes ‘the rematch the world has waited to see’

Katie Taylor is relishing ‘the rematch the world has waited to see’ after it was announced she will defend her status as undisputed world light-welterweight champion against Amanda Serrano on July 20.

The rivals made history as the first female fighters to headline at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden two years ago, with Taylor prevailing by split decision in an all-action lightweight contest.

A return bout will take place at 140lbs as the co-main event to Jake Paul v Mike Tyson at Dallas’ AT&T Stadium being broadcast by Netflix, which has more than 260million paid memberships globally.

It is set to be the third live sports event shown by the streaming giant following a celebrity golf event last November and a tennis exhibition between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal in March.

‘This is the rematch the world has wanted to see and I’m delighted that it’s finally happening,’ the 37-year-old Taylor said.

‘The first fight in New York was obviously an epic occasion and it more than lived up to the billing, and I’m sure the rematch will be no different.’

Taylor captured the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO light-welterweight titles in November by outpointing Chantelle Cameron, who handed the Irish fighter her first professional defeat six months earlier.

Serrano, who has won world titles in seven weight divisions, stepped back down to featherweight after losing to Taylor and has won all four fights since then.

She was the undisputed world champion at the 126lbs weight limit but elected to vacate her WBC crown to fight 12 three-minute rounds – the men’s championship standard – against Danila Ramos last year.

But the Puerto Rican, who has 46 wins – 30 inside the distance – two defeats and one draw in her decorated professional career, will drop back down to 10 two-minute rounds to face Taylor (23-1, 6KOs).

‘I promised my fans they would see this rematch after we made history at MSG,’ the 35-year-old Serrano said.

‘It feels like a dream come true to know that Katie and I are finally making it happen on the biggest stage possible to show the world what elite women’s boxing is all about.

‘While my focus continues to be on giving women the choice to fight with the same rules as men, I’ve always said that this is the one fight I’d go back to 10×2 for, if that’s what Katie wanted.

‘I’m coming for her belts, she wants 10×2, so that’s what we will do. I believe I won our first fight, but I didn’t get the decision, so this time I’m not leaving it to the judges.’

Exclusive: Eddie Hearn admits Anthony Joshua ‘took the bait’ with Tyson Fury’s ‘goading’

Fury has the December 3rd locked-in, but it won’t be AJ he’ll be facing.

Exclusive: Eddie Hearn admits Anthony Joshua 'took the bait' with Tyson Fury's 'goading'

Eddie Hearn has seemingly questioned Tyson Fury’s intentions to actually fighting, claiming he ‘goaded’ Anthony Joshua by ‘putting the rod out there’ with his relentless social media call-outs.

Unfortunately for AJ, as well as the rest of us, Hearn admits his he and his client ‘took the bait’.

The highly-respected boxing promoter has been in the thick of negotiations in attempting to make perhaps the biggest fight in British boxing history happen.

There’s not a man alive that doesn’t want to see AJ and Fury go toe-to-toe under the bright lights, but as we’ve all come to know, getting both men to sign on the dotted line has proved a tricky task.

    Alamy

Despite swirling rumours that the two rivals would finally lock horns inside the ring come December time, AJ’s promoter Hearn – by his own admission – has unfortunately had to dispel those claims.

“I’m not so sure that fight will happen in December, in all honesty,” Hearn told SPORTbible Australia.

“Look, I do think AJ vs Fury will happen. I just think it’s too big.

“They’re two guys that are still fresh, they’re definitely not on the back end of their careers so hopefully we get that made.”

Simply by scrolling through social media, you can see that AJ has remained rather coy during the whole situation, letting his management deal with the tense negotiations.

The same can’t be said for Tyson Fury with the heavyweight world champion not shying away from calling out Joshua online and giving him and his team tight deadlines to meet.

But Hearn wasn’t sold on Fury’s apparent eagerness to scrap, admitting the Gypsy King’s team were, in fact, quite surprised when AJ answered the call-out and that they were simply ‘goading’ him by setting ridiculous deadlines.

Now that those talks have seemingly broken down, the man himself has shed some light on what really unfolded.

‼️ Tyson Fury says Anthony Joshua negotiations are actually still ongoing for them to fight on Dec 3rd and calls on AJ to sign the contract TODAY… [🎥 @Tyson_Fury]

“He called AJ out on Instagram [after the Oleksandr Usyk] defeat. I kind of felt like he was goading him and putting the rod out there and AJ just took the bait,” Hearn said.

“AJ said ‘I’m coming off a loss, a few niggles here and there but I may never fight Tyson Fury again, let’s do it’. I think they [Tyson’s team] were a little bit surprised by this.

“We waited a long time for the contract, which was all over the place. We ended up going back on the contract and Tyson Fury came out publicly and gave us 48 hours to sign it – which was impossible. We went back to his promoters who were saying ‘let me try and calm him down a bit’, but then he came out again and was saying ‘I’ll give you one more day, last chance, that is it’.

“Obviously we still weren’t in a position to sign so he came out and said ‘that’s it’. Then he goes back on the propaganda machine and says ‘well, AJ didn’t want it’. Well, hang on, we’ve spent two weeks working with your promoters on this, you set the deadlines that were actually unrealistic.”

There’s no doubting that Tyson Fury is one of the most likeable characters in the sport.

Not only does his talent inside the ring speak for itself, but his backstory of breaking free from the grips of depression and shedding huge amounts of weight to complete a biblical comeback is nothing short of remarkable.

But since his constant back-flipping on retirement, Hearn has noticed a slight change in the public’s perception of the ‘Gypsy King’.

“I have seen the feeling [towards Fury] change a little bit,” he said.

“I’ve always said in boxing, if in doubt blame Eddie. But I feel that looking at some of the comments [online] people aren’t so sure about him anymore. They love him, great fighter, but when he’s calling out AJ, saying he’s going to fight Manuel Charr, saying he’s going to fight two people in one night, then he’s retired, then he doesn’t care about the money, then the purse must be $500 million – he’s a bit up and down but he is great for the sport.”

Hearn added: “I just think he wakes up with a different idea everyday.

“Maybe he wanted to fight AJ, maybe he just wanted to wind him up. You can never really anticipate what he’s about to do.

Our teams were really working well, like, that process [negotiations] was actually going very well. And then you’re giving Joshua deadlines before calling him out and calling him a dosser because he’s then missed those deadlines.

“We let the first one slide, but then when he did it two days later, AJ’s training thinking ‘this guy’s not even serious’. It’s difficult because some people don’t see that and others think it’s mine or AJ’s fault.”

Fury and Chisora have met twice before.

Derek Chisora the ‘frontrunner’ to be Tyson Fury’s next opponent

Derek Chisora has emerged as the frontrunner to be Tyson Fury’s next opponent.

According to The Telegraph, Fury and Chisora have agreed terms on a world title fight this year, to be held in Cardiff, Wales.

The Wythenshawe-born fighter said on social media on Saturday: “Hey guys, second session of the day. Absolutely smashing it.

“December 3, I’m coming for you. We’re about to announce an opponent this week sometime. Get up there my boy. Cardiff here we come, get up.”

This comes after talks for Fury’s much-anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua collapsed earlier on in the month. Now, it is understood that the 38-year-old Chisora will get his third chance at beating Fury, after losing the previous two bouts, in 2011 and 2014.

    Image

Fury won in 2011 via unanimous decision whilst Chisora was stopped in the 10th round three years later. Chisora is currently ranked 14th with the WBC and has a record of 33 wins and 12 defeats in 45 fights. Fury meanwhile is unbeaten in 33 fights and has been crowned heavyweight champion on two occasions.

Boxing fans have been teased with a potential fight between Fury and Joshua since way back in 2020 when there was an initial announcement that the two Brits were going to meet in the ring.

However, Fury was then ordered to fight Deontay Wilder for a third time due to a clause in their contract from previous fights.

During the last few weeks, both Fury and Joshua’s representatives have been trying to agree a deal to make the epic fight happen, however, nothing materialised.

Eddie Hearn stated that the contractual rights did not suit Joshua, therefore the right was off.

However, Frank Smith, the CEO of Matchroom Boxing ensured fans that the relationship between the two teams remains ‘very good’ and believes that the two fighters will eventually meet.

At the moment, it is unclear who Joshua will face next after his two defeats by Oleksandr Usyk.

Should he beat Chisora, Fury will surely take to the ring to face Usyk in a bid to become the undisputed king of the heavyweight division, most likely in February or March of 2023.

John Fury has insured his testicles for £10 million because 'good stuff' comes out of them

John Fury, the father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and unbeaten fighter Tommy Fury, claims he has insured his testicles for £10 million.

The 58-year-old is regularly seen with his sons ahead of their fights, becoming a popular public figure in recent years.

He’s known for his outspoken nature and regularly drops sensational soundbites in interviews. This could be the most outrageous yet though.

In a chat with Freebets.com, Fury revealed: “I’ve insured my nuts for £10 million – believe me there is good stuff that comes out of them.

“I’ve got world champion nuts in these trousers, breed some kings I do. There are only champions coming out of these nuts — it’s been proven hasn’t it?”

Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweights of his era, most recently defeating Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.

Tommy, meanwhile, is 8-0 and set to return to action next month on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs Deji.

Roman Fury also made his professional debut at the weekend in a winning effort.

Fury added: “Words cannot express how proud of Tyson and Tommy and all my family I am. I feel like I’m a world champ sometimes.”

Tyson is expected back in the ring at the end of this year. All signs pointed to a Battle of Britain with Anthony Joshua, but talks stalled.

Reports suggest Tyson could take on Derek Chisora in Cardiff in December.

In an interview with Behind The Gloves, he backed up his father’s recent investment, adding it was a shrewd one to make.

‘The Gypsy King’ said: “He insured them because that sperm produced the heavyweight champion of the world and it’s very valuable.

So, if anything happens to him, even at his age, he could still extract a few champions out of those, so we’ll see.

“Imagine this guy puts a load of swimmers in test tubes and freezes them and sells them, this is the proper half-brother of ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury the heavyweight champion of the world, this potentially could be our next champion, so it’s worth a fortune.

“See me, I’ve become heavyweight champion, but I’ve never produced a heavyweight champion.”

Tyson did retire from boxing back in April, but reversed his decision to ‘save’ the division after Joshua was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk.

Mike Tyson accused of attempting to grab his former photographer's breast

Mike Tyson’s long-time photographer has launched some serious allegations against the boxing legend, accusing him of trying to grope her breasts during the 1980s.

But Iron Mike isn’t denying the claims, instead insisting the pair were actually in a consensual sexual relationship.

This relationship supposedly started when he around 17 years of age, making him a minor, and when she was in her mid 20s.

Lori Grinker is an award-winning photographer, having worked with a number of big-name stars – Tyson being one of them.

Grinker recently released a new pictorial book, titled ‘Mike Tyson,’ which is a collection of pictures of Iron Mike when he was younger.

Within the book, Grinker opens up on the time Tyson allegedly ‘tried to grab my breast’.

“Mike could be very sweet and gentle when he was feeling it, and not very sweet or gentle when he wasn’t,” she says in the book.

“He once tried to grab my breast, and when I pushed him away, he got angry and threw my light meter in the snow. He had a somewhat spoiled side and, being the champ, grew accustomed to getting his way.”

In conversations with the Daily Mail, Grinker clarified that Tyson never tried anything like that again, although she did admit that he was just an “immature teenager” at the time of the alleged incident.

But rather than fight the accusations, Tyson’s representatives told the publication: “In this day and age it’s unfortunate that Ms. Grinker was not more careful with her words omitting the fact that she was in a sexual relationship with Mike Tyson when he was a minor with almost a decade age difference.”

His spokesperson added: “He was around 17 and had sexual relationship (sic) with her on & off until about 21. He had sex with her also when he was champion in Atlantic City.”

In a separate email exchange with the Daily Mail, Tyson’s team said the two individuals met when he was just 13 years of age, although their sexual relationship started a few years later in 1983.

At 17, Tyson and his team insist he would have been a ‘minor’, yet the article in the Daily Mail Mail says that if “the alleged affair did occur when Tyson was 17, it would not have violated New York State consent laws enacted in 1965”.

Mike Tyson reveals he was high on cannabis when he infamously punched a fan mid-flight

Boxing legend Mike Tyson has revealed that he was high during that infamous interaction with an overzealous fan whilst on a plane.

Footage emerged earlier this year of Iron Mike lashing out at a fan on board a flight.

The video showed one man sitting behind the 55-year-old as they waited for the flight to take off with the man attempting to get Tyson’s attention on several occasions.

    TMZ.

Tyson’s representatives then claimed that he had been ‘harrassed’ by the fan and had a bottle of water thrown at him.

Eventually, the former boxer, once known as the ‘most dangerous man on the planet,’ seemed to have had enough and started punching the fan.

Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored the former heavyweight champion revealed that he had turned up to the flight slightly high.

The Hall of Famer had been in the midst of smoking cannabis with 60,000 people before turning up to his Miami flight from San Francisco.

And well, he claims he couldn’t take any more.

He told Piers: “First of all, I came from this place called Hippie Hill, 60,000 people were there smoking cannabis.

“So by the time I’m on the plane, I’m hungry, high and tired, OK? And this guy keeps antagonising me.

“And then I came to my senses and kicked his f***king ass.

“I’m only joking. I wish I did kick his a**. My bodyguard jumped on top of him.”

    Ric Flair/Twitter.

Tyson admitted that he now tries to stay out of trouble because his wife Spicer is worried he’ll get ‘cancelled’.

Although, there’s been a few occasions when he’s been antagonised to making a reaction.

When asked about particular incidents: “[There are] quite a few but I’ve only had to put my hands on one.

“Listen, I can’t play like that anymore or my wife gets mad. She doesn’t like my sense of humour. She thinks I’m going to get cancelled or some s**t.”

Iron Mike added that he believes being around Spicer keeps him from getting in any serious trouble.

He continued: “I think she thinks she keeps me out of trouble. I’m always with her, so that’s why I’m not in trouble.”

However, he doesn’t believe he’d dish out any more punishment if his wife weren’t around.

He added: “No, I don’t believe in that. My wife always says to be nice when I go outside, so I would take that advice and be nice.”

Tyson Fury has been given the chance to buy League One outfit Morecambe FC.

The WBC heavyweight champion lives in Morecambe, even agreeing to a sponsorship deal with his hometown side earlier this year.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Fury asked former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan on his verdict of the club.

Morecambe are currently bottom of the league with eight points and one win all season.

Fury said: “Quick question, I’m thinking about buying Morecambe Football Club, they’re in League One at the moment.

“So I was thinking I invest X amount of millions in them.”

Jordan wanted clarification on Fury’s comments, replying: “By invest you mean throw it at them, invest is the wrong term.”

Fury then claimed: “Yeah, basically throw it at them and keep them going up.

“I’ve been offered to buy Morecambe Football Club. I own all the training facilities anyway and the training gym.

“So who knows? You might be looking at a football club owner.”

Former Eagles chief Jordan asked: You know how to make a small fortune in football?”

A sharp Fury immediately responded: “Start off with a bigger one! It’s the same as being a boxing promoter.”

Fury is a Manchester United fan, regularly giving his verdict on the club in videos on Instagram.

The 34-year-old was speaking following the announcement of his trilogy bout against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3.

Fury retired from boxing following his victory over Dillian Whyte in April, reversing that decision to try and become undisputed champion.

Fights with WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and fellow Brit Anthony Joshua didn’t come off, meaning Fury will now face Chisora for a third time.

The aim is to face Usyk in a huge undisputed title clash in 2023.

Mike Tyson reveals the reason why he fell asleep during a live TV interview with Piers Morgan

Mike Tyson has revealed the real reason why he fell asleep during a live television interview with Piers Morgan.

And no, it wasn’t because he was growing tired of Piers himself, unfortunately.

Iron Mike says painkillers were the main reason for his drowsiness, admitting he took them because he had hurt himself training a few days prior.

Boxing royalty Tyson was chatting to Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan ahead of his comeback bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

But the interview took a turn for the worse when the former heavyweight world champion began slurring his words and becoming incoherent.

At one point during the exchange, Iron Mike slumped over in his chair and appeared to fall asleep.

When the broadcast segment aired on ITV, it instantly went viral and spread like wildfire on social media with viewers wanting to know why he was so out of it.

We know the big man loves to dabble in a bit of marijuana, even owning his own multi-million-dollar weed farm, but it turns out it was something else which KO’d Tyson.

Almost three years on from the incident, he told Piers in a recent interview with Talk TV: “I had hurt myself at that particular time. I was training.

“I received some painkillers from my wife and after I received these painkillers I was just incapable of articulating anything.

    “It was just a mess.”

To which Morgan replied: “People thought I was so boring as an interviewer that I’d literally driven you to sleep.”

But Tyson was happy to take the fall.

“It was my fault, everybody. It was my fault,” he said.

Tyson’s biblical second coming was a joy to watch and there has been plenty of talk as to who he’ll take on next.

But at the ripe old age 56, even he admits his return has become more “financial” rather than “fun”.

“I don’t think I will [fight] either but you never know again. Every 12 to 13 months, boom, something is missing,” he said on the Nelk Boys’ Full Send Podcast earlier this year.

“Like, something is missing. Boom, I’m missing muscle mass, boom, it’s always something different.

“Guys want to fight me for $100 million. I don’t think I’ll ever do stuff like that anymore.

“I wanted to do it the first time, just for fun, to have fun. Some people took it to another level and made it financial and the fun went out of it.”

Tyson Fury calls True Geordie a 'tosser' before end of interview in heated moment

Tyson Fury abruptly left an interview with True Geordie after being questioned about his upcoming fight with Derek Chisora.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gyspy King’ will defend his WBC heavyweight championship against Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3.

Fury has beaten Chisora twice already, with fans not thrilled by the idea of a trilogy bout.

Earlier this year, Fury was eager to square off with Anthony Joshua but negotiations fell through. True Geordie, real name Brian Davis, told Fury he would rather see him face other contenders in the division on the latest edition of the True Geordie Podcast.

That saw Fury reply per Boxing Social: “No matter what you say, or what people like you want to say about Derek Chisora, he’s achieved more in boxing and in fighting than ten men like you could ever achieve. So I’m not going to just let you sit here and slate somebody who’s fought the best fighters of this era just because he’s lost a few fights.

“It is what it is. I’ll be fighting Chisora … and if you don’t want to watch it then please don’t, and if you do, tune in. And if you don’t want to buy a ticket, don’t buy a ticket. And if you do, be like the rest of the 50 odd, 60 odd thousand that’s already bought tickets.”

Chisora is currently 33-12 after defeating Kubrat Pulev in July. Prior to that, he was on a three-fight losing streak.

Fury declared: “I can’t let you, who’s probably never had a fight in your life, run Chisora down who’s fought everybody. I cannot let that happen.”

At the end of the interview, with emotions high, True Geordie thanked Fury for taking time out of his day to appear on the show.

The 34-year-old, while trying to disconnect from the call, said: “I think you’re a tosser. You little tosspot. And I won’t be doing any more interviews with you little tosspot, bearded, bald-headed tosser. Kiss my b**ls, you little w**ker. You little sh**house. Suck a d**k.”

Clips of the interview quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 200,000 views at the time of writing.

SPORTbible has contacted Tyson Fury’s representatives for comment.

Queensberry Promotion chief Frank Warren recently claimed over 50,000 tickets have been sold ahead of Fury vs Chisora III. It means the fight will likely end up a sell-out.

Mike Tyson asked which person in history he’d like to fight most, his answer is a Greek legend

Iron Mike’s dream opponent could’ve been one of the best fighters of all time, instead, he chose ‘the greatest warrior of all time’.

Mike Tyson asked which person in history he'd like to fight most, his answer is a Greek legend

Mike Tyson is one of the greatest fighters of all time so it’s safe to assume he’d have a pretty epic list of people he’d like to go toe-to-toe with.

The two-time heavyweight champion has faced and defeated incredible fighters including the likes of Donovan Ruddock and Lennox Lewis.

However, his dream opponent is one that no one would have thought of.

During an episode of his podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike earlier this year, Ryan Garcia and Tyson discussed who the former boxer believed was the greatest fighter ever.

Garcia asked the Baddest Man On The Planet: “If there is anyone in history you would like to fight, who would that be?”

Of course, the current sixth-best active lightweight was expecting an answer consisting of one of the greatest fighters of all time.

The likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, and Sugar Ray Robinson come to mind.

But Tyson took the conversation down a different right.

    Tyson replied: “Achilles.”

That’s right, the greek legend himself is the man Tyson would love to step in between the ropes with.

When queried about his answer, Tyson’s reasoning made sense, stating that the Greek god was ‘as close to God as possible’.

Mike stated: “He’s the greatest warrior ever.”

    Sipa US / Alamy

Tyson went on to delve into his fascination with Roman Gladiators and his love of history.

Iron Mike then claimed he was planning on visiting Achilles’ tomb in Greece to pay respects to ‘the greatest warrior ever’.

Garcia followed this up by stating he’d love to join Mike on that expedition.

We’re sure Tyson vs Achilles would make a lot of pay-per-view sales as well, so in that sense certainly a fair choice.

Mike Tyson is certainly one of the most notable names in the history of boxing.

However, Bleacher Report only rated him at 46 on their all-time fighters list.

With fighters such as Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Floyd Mayweather Jr all ahead of him on the list, there were certainly some all-time options for Tyson to pick when it came to dream opponents.

However, Tyson’s answer makes the most sense coming from the man himself.
