The MMA beast “choked up” and opened his heart: Mike Tyson’s incredible weight loss and successful accent training for Steven Seagal’s film, tainted by a $19.5 million loss.

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, has also starred in several movies.

He appeared as Kabbah in director Tan Bing’s 2017 movie, China Salesman. Not many people know about this movie as it suffered a massive loss at the global box office and is one of the worst movies in Tyson’s filmography.

Mike Tyson appeared in China Salesman (2017)

Former boxer Mike Tyson has starred in several TV shows and movies. In most of them, he appeared as himself but there was a Chinese movie, China Salesman (2017), in which he played the role of a former general, Kabbah. T he movie also featured actor/martial artist Steven Seagal as Lauder.

Tyson has also starred in many movies including Ip Man 3 (2015), Kickboxer: Retaliation (2018), Vendetta (2022), and Girls 2 (2018). Apart from this, he has made countless cameos in many other movies. His most popular cameo was in The Hangover (2009). In 2010, Tyson told a Las Vegas radio station that he agreed to do that cameo because he wanted money to “supply his drug habit.”

Steven Seagal Loses A Remarkable Movie Record To Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson worked hard to prepare for his role

Since Tyson was playing the role of a former general, he was required to get into the appropriate shape. Being a disciplined athlete, he then managed to lose roughly 25 pounds. He was also required to perfect his African accent as his character is an African in the movie. The former American boxer then spent a significant amount of time mastering the accent.

Tyson wasn’t the only one working hard for his role as Steven Seagal also gained 25 pounds in order to prepare for his role as Lauder.

    China Salesman was a disaster

All that hard work was wasted as China Salesman was a failure. On a production budget of $20 million, the film only grossed about $1.5 million around the world. Filmmakers heavily focused on Mike Tyson and Steven Seagal’s “conflict,” however, they shared a frame only during one short fight at the beginning of the movie. So, obviously, it was very disappointing for the audience.

The movie was reportedly shot in Dandenong, Australia, using refugees from South Sudan. The entire project was a terrible idea and undoubtedly, a complete waste of time for Mike Tyson.

From Speed Demons to Head Turners: Exploring Mike Tyson’s Incredible Fleet of Cars

Mike Tyson, considered a heavyweight boxing legend, earned millions during his two-decade career. He used a significant portion of his money to grow his car collection. Unfortunately, following years of financial mismanagement, Tyson went bankrupt in 2003. To pay his debts, most of his vehicles were auctioned.

These days, Mike Tyson rides in luxury in a V-12-engined Rolls-Royce Ghost. The vehicle regularly features on his Instagram page. Mike Tyson’s financial struggles are behind him – he runs a lucrative marijuana business. Still, he doesn’t make as much as he used to during his prime. Back when Tyson made tens of millions of dollars a night, he acquired some pretty impressive rides, and here are 10 that stood out.

    Cadillac Seville

Mike Tyson’s 1985 Cadillac Seville was his second Cadillac, on top of the Eldorado bought for him by his co-manager Jim Jacobs as a reward for his imperious young boxing record. The Seville’s looks split opinion: some people applauded the vehicle’s upright front end and hunchback rear; others thought the design looked weird.

    Rolls-Royce Silver Spur

Mike Tyson wanted to reward himself with a Rolls-Royce after winning the WBA world title in 1986. However, his co-manager, Jim Jacobs, advised him to wait until his 21st birthday. Dutifully, Tyson postponed the purchase. The boxer was barely 21 when he walked into a dealership and bought a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur for just under $150,000.

    Rolls-Royce Corniche

As a reward to himself for winning the IBF world title in 1987, Tyson splurged a little over $200,000 on a Rolls-Royce Corniche. The Corniche n ame first appeared on a late 1930s prototype. Despite extensive testing, the vehicle was never manufactured: the prototype was blown up at a dock in France in the early days of World War II.

Mike Tyson's Old Car Is Being Auctioned With an Estimate of $5 Million

    Bentley Continental SC

The Bentley Continental SC started life as a Bentley Continental R in 1991. It was expensive, luxurious, and moderately fast. In 1994, Cosworth twe aked the engine, increasing its horsepower by about 40. In 1996, Bentley released the Bentley Continental T, a short-wheelbase variant of the R, which looked sportier and featured a 400-horsepower engine.

    Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560 SL

By the late 1980s, Tyson was hanging out with celebrity aristocracy. The boxer developed a close bond with the late rapper Tupac Shakur, who owned a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL. Naturally, Tyson bought one as well. The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class was an overwhelming success for Mercedes-Benz in the 70s and 80s.

    Ferrari F50

After serving a three-year sentence and clobbering Frank Bruno to regain his title, Mike Tyson rewarded himself a Ferrari F50. The F50 featured a 4.7-liter engine derived from Ferrari’s F1-spec 3.5-liter V-12. It produced 512 horsepower, 41 more than its predecessor, the F-40, which had a turbocharged V-8 engine.

    Jaguar XJ220

Following his infamous disqualification against Evander Holyfield in June 1997, Tyson bought a Jaguar XJ220. The spaceship-esque XJ220 featured a 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 that accelerated the Jag to a top speed of 220 MPH. The XJ220 made a huge splash when it was introduced as a functional concept in 1988.

    Jaguar E-Type

The motoring world agrees that the Jaguar E-Type is one of the most gorgeous cars ever made. It turned heads when it debuted in 1961 and still turns heads today. Unlike most cars of the era, the E-Type didn’t feature a heavy ladder frame chassis. The E-Type (XK-E in North America) had a 3.8-liter engine capable of hurling the lightweight car to a top speed of 149 MPH.

    Ferrari 456 GT Spyder

Reeling from his loss against Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson bought the Ferrari 456 GT Spyder alongside the F50. The Spyder was a convertible variant of the GT, which featured a 5.5-liter V-12 engine at the front derived from the Dino V-6. The Ferrari 456 GT was a beautiful car, but it looked even better with the top down.

    Lamborghini Super Diablo Twin Turbo

The Lamborghini Super Diablo was a turbocharged version of the Diablo VT. The Diablo was already a powerful vehicle – its 5.7-liter V-12 produced 485 horsepower. However, some owners, including Mike Tyson, wanted more. 1996 was a tough year for Tyson as he lost Tupac Shakur, one of his closest friends.

Mike Tyson’s wild 30th birthday party: Arranging 19 beautiful women in 19 rooms.

Mike Tyson’s 30th birthday party was known for its extravagance and notoriety during his peak as a heavyweight boxing champion.

On June 30, 1966, Mike Tyson, the youngest heavyweight boxing champion in history and a fierce presence in the ring during the 1980s, was born. From this point on, the world witnessed a star with immense talent and numerous flaws, making him one of the most intriguing figures in the history of global sports.

Celebrating his 54th birthday while training for his comeback, the audience no longer sees an overweight Mike Tyson making headlines in sports events. Instead, the legendary boxer has adopted strict diet regimes, utilized stem cell therapy, and dedicated hours each day to regain his form. Furthermore, the former champion has found success in business ventures and rebuilt his personal image.

Mike Tyson’s life in 2020 is much healthier and more peaceful compared to his tumultuous past. Although he may not earn as much money as he did during his prime, it is evident that he enjoys a much more serene existence.

Inside the ring, spectators witnessed the young man from Brooklyn employing the Peek-a-boo boxing style to overpower his opponents. Outside of the ring, his wild and extravagant lifestyle matched his reputation.

In 1996, after serving time in prison and reclaiming the WBC belt with only three fights, many believed that Mike Tyson had learned humility and self-control. However, the legendary puncher admitted, “I got the championship belt back, and that feeling of greatness burst all humility in me.”

In his autobiography, “Undisputed Truth,” Mike Tyson revealed details of the most insane birthday party he ever organized, which would astound anyone who heard about it.

It happened just 10 weeks before Mike Tyson’s WBA title fight against Bruce Seldon. Despite the crucial fight for one of the most significant belts in boxing, Mike decided to indulge in festivities rather than focusing on training.

At his 52-bedroom mansion, Mike Tyson organized a birthday party resembling a Hollywood film event. The WBC champion at the time invited the most prominent personalities, including billionaire financial manager and future US president Donald Trump, rapper Jay-Z, and actress/TV host Oprah Winfrey. He invited guests from all over the country and arranged a nearby hotel for convenience.

“I had 13 chefs with separate kitchens for the party. When guests entered, they walked on a red carpet guarded by 40 towering bodyguards,” shared Mike Tyson.

To satisfy his sexual desires, Mike “Iron” Tyson allocated 19 rooms for his 19 mistresses during the entire time of the party.

“I was so excited that I arranged all the mistresses I wanted to sleep with in that room. I even kicked my girlfriend out of the hotel for convenience. At that moment, I proudly told my bodyguards, ‘Look, they all belong to me,’” Mike shared.

All the opulence and indulgence of Mike Tyson were displayed at that 30th birthday party. Fortunately for him, his subsequent fight against Bruce Seldon went smoothly despite neglecting training. Mike quickly knocked out Seldon in 1 minute and 49 seconds of the first round, reclaiming the prestigious WBA belt.

However, this 30th birthday party was perhaps the last extravagant celebration for Mike Tyson at the peak of his career. Before encountering consecutive failures with Evander Holyfield and facing a series of scandals leading to his declaration of bankruptcy in 2003, it marked the end of an era for the American legend.

Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield II – the story behind the ‘Bite Fight’ 25 years on

Tyson bit Holyfield during a world heavyweight title fight in 1997.

Twenty-five years ago Mike Tyson was struggling to come to terms with the fact his self-styled reputation as ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ was in grave jeopardy.

Tyson’s career revival, following his shocking first career defeat to underdog James ‘Buster’ Douglas and his subsequent imprisonment for rape, was wrecked by Evander Holyfield in their first meeting in November 1996.

As he approached the rematch eight months later, the 30-year-old Tyson knew his fearsome aura would be banished for good if he failed to beat Holyfield at the second attempt.

The extraordinary pressures he faced both in and out of the ring would manifest in one of the most shocking events in sporting history, and one which served to re-establish Tyson’s notoriety for all the wrong reasons.

Tyson’s second coming had been a relatively facile affair, with inconsequential wins over Peter McNeely and Buster Mathis Jr. leading up to a third-round stoppage of Frank Bruno to reclaim the WBC title.

Mike Tyson claims he's made $30M off Evander Holyfield ear bite | Toronto Sun

Such was the aura surrounding Tyson that it was enough to make him the overwhelming favourite for his first fight with Holyfield, who had previously retired with a heart condition and for whom the build-up to the bout was punctuated by serious concerns for his health.

Holyfield responded by delivering a masterful performance to quell Tyson’s rage and force referee Mitch Halpern’s intervention with Tyson out on his feet in the 11th round. It made a rematch both inevitable and lucrative.

From the outset of their second bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it was apparent that Holyfield was well-placed to repeat the feat and potentially deal Tyson’s championship career a terminal blow.

Tyson appeared to grow increasingly frustrated by Holyfield’s use of his head, about which he had complained in the wake of their first meeting, and which quickly opened a cut over his right eye.

Exasperated, Tyson came out for the third round without his gumshield, and was ordered to return to his corner by referee Mills Lane. After a furious exchange, Holyfield reeled back and complained that Tyson had bitten a chunk out of his right ear.

The fight was briefly delayed while Lane considered his next move. Eventually he allowed it to continue, but waved it off when Tyson proceeded to bite Holyfield’s left ear. Tyson raged at the stoppage, and security personnel had to protect Holyfield in his corner.

Later, Tyson did not try to hide his assault. “Holyfield kept butting me,” he told media. “What am I supposed to do? I’ve got children to raise. He’s not a warrior. He’s got a little nick on his ear. He didn’t want to fight me.

Holyfield kept butting me. What am I supposed to do? I’ve got children to raise. He’s not a warrior. He’s got a little nick on his ear. He didn’t want to fight me.

In the post-fight chaos, Tyson was hit by a water bottle on his way back to the dressing room, and he and his entourage attempted to scale barriers to confront the culprit. Shots were fired in the MGM Grand lobby on what descended into one of boxing’s blackest nights.

Tyson’s boxing licence was revoked by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and he was fined £3million. Allowed to return just over a year later, he reeled off a succession of low-key wins until he was swatted by Lennox Lewis in Memphis in June 2002.

Holyfield, who had subsequently lost his titles to Lewis, fought on and won a series of low-key versions of the title. His had his last fight at the age of 48, when he was stopped by Brian Nielsen in Denmark.

Tyson and Holyfield made up and eventually became close friends. They appeared together on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009, when Holyfield said he forgive Tyson, and Tyson responded by calling Holyfield a “gentleman”.

In retirement, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ had finally started to repair his reputation. But a quarter of a century on, his ferocious career is still defined by the so-called ‘Bite Fight’ that dragged heavyweight boxing into the gutter.

Mike Tyson: Ruddock’s sensational return at 48 with a surprising new power

Ruddock faced Tyson in a bout that would determine the number one contender for a heavyweight title fight with Evander Holyfield.

‘Iron Mike’, who had been defeated by James ‘Buster’ Douglas for the belt in 1990, had renewed focus as he knocked Ruddock down three times and won the fight in seven rounds.

There was plenty of talk between both camps after the fight and Tyson famously said ‘I’m going to make you my girlfriend on June 28′ to Ruddock.

A rematch was scheduled for June 1991 and Ruddock lost again but over 12 rounds and after suffering a broken jaw in the opening exchanges.

The two other stand-out fights in his boxing career also ended in defeat, to Lennox Lewis and Tommy Morrison, the man who gave Sylvester Stallone an acting run for his money in Rocky V.

    Comeback

Ruddock says he made the decision to return to professional boxing after impressing himself in a Jamaican training camp. He said:

I got in such shape that I realized I wasn’t in shape when I was fighting Tyson and all those guys. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m stronger, I’m faster.
Ruddock, who is weighing in at 215 pounds, has to find an opponent and get licensed by an athletic commission.

“I’m looking for a fight like yesterday,” he added. ”I’m not doing this for money, I’m doing this because I want to do it.”

He said, “If I go in there and I lose one fight, by any means, then I realize I’m off, I’m wrong and I’m going to give it a walk.”

“When I was under the influence of drugs, I had a false sense of control. However, what I discovered about love is that it completely transcends any form of control. Love is a far more potent narcotic than any substance.”

Mike Tyson’s Former Fortune: From $300 Million to $10 Million Net Worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mike Tyson’s current net worth stands at $10 million. However, there was a time when the heavyweight boxing champion possessed a staggering wealth exceeding $300 million. Unreserved in his spending, Tyson reportedly indulged in lavish purchases, ranging from exotic animals to gold bathtubs.

Among his extravagant purchases, cars held a special place in Tyson’s heart. The boxing legend even bestowed the cars he acquired as gifts upon others. For instance, it is widely known that he gifted rapper Ed Lover a Bentley. What many are unaware of is that the value of that single car alone likely surpasses the cumulative earnings of numerous boxers throughout their entire careers!

Mike Tyson’s Generous Gesture: Gifting a Bentley to Ed Lover, Only to Have It Reclaimed by His Team

During an interview with Vlad TV, Mike Tyson candidly revealed his inclination for gifting expensive cars. The exorbitant price tags of these vehicles held no significance to him, as his vast wealth rendered them as mere drops in the bucket. He expressed, “Yeah, I had cars. Cars and money didn’t mean anything to me. If I had $300 million… What would $500,000 matter?”

Among his generous acts, Tyson bestowed a Bentley upon his close friend and rapper, Ed Lover, with whom he frequently socialized and partied. However, the car’s transfer to his friend wasn’t a direct gift. After a wild night, Lover requested Tyson to drop him off at the location where he had left his own vehicle.

Due to time constraints, Tyson allowed his friend to drive home in one of his cars – a Bentley. Ed Lover enjoyed the prized vehicle for several weeks, making use of it as well. Unexpectedly, he received a call from Tyson’s team, informing him that the car had to be returned. Lover willingly complied, unaware that Tyson had intended for it to be a permanent gift, but his team had reclaimed it out of jealousy.

Once upon a time, the former boxing champion found it effortless to bestow cars like mere specks of dust. Tyson’s vast fortune was a testament to his skill and success, allowing him to remain unconcerned about others’ earnings. However, it serves as a sobering reflection that many boxers won’t amass even a fraction of the Bentley’s value throughout their entire careers.

What is the Typical Earning Potential for Boxers in the USA?
When observing the immense fortunes amassed by figures like Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather, it’s natural for individuals to consider stepping into the ring solely for financial gain. However, it’s important to recognize that these individuals represent the exception rather than the norm. For the majority of boxers in the United States, earning millions is an elusive aspiration. According to Strictly Fighters, boxing generally lacks profitability for most practitioners.

Amateur boxers, for instance, only earn money if they participate in the World Series of Boxing, where annual earnings range between $25,000 to $300,000. On average, boxers receive approximately $2,225 for early-career fights, with more experienced individuals averaging slightly over $6,800 per bout. Moreover, most boxers partake in only four or five matches each year.

As a result, the income ceiling for these fighters typically ranges from $30,000 to $38,000 annually, excluding any potential earnings from endorsements or sponsorships. Consequently, achieving a level of wealth akin to Mike Tyson’s remains a dream seldom realized for the majority of boxers.

Mike Tyson, in his younger days, was a force of nature and had the intent to kill anybody he faced inside the ring

The youngest heavyweight boxer was a beast and didn’t respect any of his opponents, as he wanted to beat everybody.

In a famous interview, Tyson went all out and shared his future plans to fight while calling out all the top fighters in the heavyweight division at the time. Tyson claimed that after beating Alex Stewart he would like to go after others such as Evander Holyfield, Buster Douglas, Razor Ruddock, etc.

He said: “After I kick Stewart ass and give him a slow beating nearly death. I’m going to take whoever win after that. The Holyfield Dauglas fight and then regain my title and hopefully I can fight Razor Ruddok or this other guy George Foreman before he dies of you know, rigor mortis.”

The fighter also made fun of the legendary George Foreman and mentioned that he would beat Foreman before he died of rigor mortis, which is a condition in which muscles get stiff. However, Foreman throughout his career was never diagnosed with this condition, it seems like Tyson was just mocking him with that call-out.

George Foreman never considered Mike Tyson one of his top heavyweight boxers of all time

While Mike Tyson is regarded as the most violent fighter of all time, George Foreman was just a different breed of fighter during his prime. Foreman was a machine that dominated everybody who fought him and he was not afraid of anybody inside the ring. When talking about Mike Tyson, Foreman once mentioned that he doesn’t put Tyson in his top five heavyweights list.

But they were no danger to me.”

Foreman added that Muhammad Ali was always fascinated by Tyson and rightly so. But according to Foreman, no heavyweight boxer of that time would have won against him that includes Tyson too.

Paul signed a multi-year deal with the PFL in January 2023, and was given the title ‘head of fighter advocacy’ at the promotion.

The PFL is also the home of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, though he has yet to debut for the organisation with a promotional debut slated for this year.

‘There was a time when he might have done 50/50 of both and right now it looks like he might be 90/10 in favour of boxing over MMA.’ Davis added.

‘So, his development in MMA is not coming along as quickly as we thought. Will he fight for the PFL? One hundred per cent.

‘Will he move to MMA? One hundred per cent. Is the timing delayed? It is.’

Anticipation of Paul’s clash with Tyson is beginning to build ahead of the summer date. Tyson recently shared a clip of his heavy-hitting drills that show the 57-year-old is training to be in prime condition, while Paul appears to be taking a more relaxed approach to preparations.

Mike Tyson posted a fearsome training video to his X page – along with a message for Jake Paul

The 57-ear-old’s last official bout was in 2005, whilst Paul has been boxing at the pro level since 2020.

The former heavyweight champion claimed he was ‘scared to death’ ahead of the fight, but added ‘This is a guy who’s going to try and hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken.’
