Anthony Joshua admits unified world champion Mike Tyson would have destroyed him

ANTHONY JOSHUA has admitted former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson would have destroyed him in a fight.

The Brit star, 27, claimed the American heavyweight would have been far too good for him had they been active at the same time.

Tyson was  the unified, undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and to this day is regarding as one of the all-time greats.

On “Iron Mike”, Joshua said: “Mike Tyson would have battered me.

“There was no way I could have taken on that guy. I would have taken that pay cheque.

“You know what I done against Klitschko in that sixth round when I took that dive? I’m joking.

“I would have taken a dive against Tyson. He was a beast.

“I give all credit and respect to Tyson. Even though Tyson is going on like 50 now, I still remember Tyson as the young, young 21-year-old.

“He was that good and made such an impact in the sport of boxing.”

Joshua is just kicking off his career as a champion after his thrilling win over Wladimir Klitschko in April to add the WBA belt to his IBF title.

The Briton has been dubbed the man to dominate the division, but is clearly unsure of how he would have fared alongside Tyson.

Joshua is currently lining up his next fight, with Ukrainian ace Klitschko weighing up his options.

Should the pair go through with a rematch, the 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is being eyed up, with November 11 the expected date.

If, however, Klitschko opts against the fight, Deontay Wilder could be a potential opponent for Joshua.

  • Frank Warren claims Mike Tyson NOT in top ten heavyweights ever and would have lost to Ali, Foreman and Frazier.

Frank Warren claims Mike Tyson NOT in top ten heavyweights ever and would have lost to Ali, Foreman and Frazier.

BOXING promoter Frank Warren has revealed he does not rank Mike Tyson in his top 10 heavyweights of all time.

Iron Mike, 54, is making a sensational return to the sport he ruled with fear in the late 1980s and 90s when he fights Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight on November 28.

Tyson won 50 of his 56 fights, bagging 44 KOs along the way.

But for Hall of Fame promoter Warren, the Baddest Man On The Planet’s indiscretions OUTSIDE the ring means he doesnt make his top 10.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Warren, 68, said: “Mike Tyson, when he was young and first got into boxing, he was exciting.

“A bit like Daniel Dubois in some ways, he sort of captured the public’s imagination in devastating style.

“He won a world title and everybody was talking about him. For me, he was one of the most exciting young heavyweights.

“However, he doesn’t get in my top ten because he just did not last the course.

“He was sodding around, drugging it and boozing, went to prison. He just didn’t do it for me.”

The Brooklyn brawler became the youngest ever heavyweight champ when he KO’d Trevor Berbick in 1986.

But Warren believes there would be a clutch of fighters who would have been able to deal with Tyson’s raw aggression.

He added: “I don’t think he would’ve beaten Sonny Liston, I don’t think he’d have beaten [prime] Larry Holmes, I don’t think he’d have beaten [Muhammad] Ali.

“I don’t think he’d have beaten Joe Frazier and I certainly don’t think he’d have beaten George Foreman.”

Warren has had somewhat of a chequered relationship with Tyson over the years.

The Islington-born promoter revealed how a £2million jewellery bill led to Mike Tyson PUNCHING him in 2000.

The promoter encountered ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ at the height of his infamy, with an unpaid jewellery bill coming back to haunt the fighter.

And Warren has opened up on the ‘pandemonium’ that the ‘petulant’ Tyson caused when flooring him inside a Park Lane hotel over the incident.

Who was Mike Tyson’s mother and how did she die? Looking back at the boxer’s unusual statement after her passing

Mike Tyson has explained that the passing of his мother led hiм to Ƅe the мan he is today.

‘Iron Mike’ is one of the greatest heaʋyweight Ƅoxers to eʋer grace the ring. At just 20 years old, he мade history Ƅy capturing heaʋyweight gold against Treʋor BerƄick. For Tyson, it was a crowning мoмent that noƄody saw coмing, haʋing just started his professional career less than two years prior.

Howeʋer, one has to wonder if he would’ʋe had мuch success in the ring without his upbringing. Anyone who knows Tyson’s stories aƄout his youth knows that his life was filled with ʋiolence and instaƄility. Raised in Brownsʋille, Brooklyn, his father walked out on hiм when he was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧.

As a result, Lorna Tyson was left to raise Mike Tyson and three other 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren. In 1982, she was tragically diagnosed with late-stage cancer, passing away that year. In an interʋiew with CluƄShayShay, the Ƅoxer explained how his мother’s passing was a good thing for hiм.

In a 2020 interʋiew, Tyson stated:

“You know, one of the Ƅest things that eʋer happened to мe is that мy мother died. Because мy мother would haʋe ‘ƄaƄied’ мe. There’s no way I would eʋer got into a street fight. No way I would eʋer learn to stand up for мyself.”

‘Iron Mike’ Ƅecaмe heaʋyweight chaмpion just four years after the passing of his мother. After Lorna’s passing, Tyson was eʋentually adopted Ƅy legendary trainer Cus D’Aмoto. Oʋer the following years, the trainer мolded hiм into an all-tiмe great.

Howeʋer, in a 2010 interʋiew with <eм>BleacherReport</eм>, Mike Tyson discussed his upbringing in depth. There, the Ƅoxer stated that he honestly didn’t really get to know his мother and that it was extreмely crushed.

  • Mike Tyson ‘k.i.l.l.ed the monster inside him’ by smoking toad venom in the desert

Mike Tyson ‘k.i.l.l.ed the monster inside him’ by smoking toad venom in the desert

MIKE TYSON claims he is no longer the monster he was after after smoking toad venom.

The 52-year-old former heavyweight king is building a cannabis resort and is a huge advocate for the medicinal benefits of the drug.

But it was DMT, found in the Sonoran Desert toad of northern Mexico, that blew his mind at the start of 2019 and buried the human wrecking ball that helped build his fame and fortune.

In an emotionally charged and tearful interview, available in the UK on ESPN Player, Iron Mike said: “I don’t want to be that monster when I die, I don’t want to be remembered as that guy. He is very toxic and dangerous for my family and my wife. He doesn’t care about them but they are all I care about.

“But I know what it took to make that guy and the experiences we went through to make him so I know he will not disappear overnight.

“I really don’t have much regret. My violence, my drug habits, my reckless sexual escapades, my street fights and car accidents, all that time is over and I am still here so now it is about making a better life for my family. I am grateful for existing and having another life.”

DMT is an extremely potent but natural psychedelic that mysterious shamen have smoked for decades and newage hippies now flock to the desert for in search of enlightenment.

And Tyson, at his most wild jailed for rape and guilty of biting a chunk out of Evander Holyfield’s ear, says his life was changed forever by the experience.

    ‘EVERYTHING WENT BOOM’

He said: “Once I smoked it, everything went boom! When I came down my brain was functioning and I could talk but I was saying ‘I f***ed up’.

“I killed myself because I killed my ego and my life totally changed.

“It sounds like a movie script but it’s the real deal and now I wake up smiling and laughing and I wonder ‘what the f*** happened?’

“It lasts forever but it only took 15 minutes. As soon as I realised I was nothing, all my fancy stuff didn’t matter.

“When you think you know everything and then you realise you don’t know anything, then it is a big awakening. You can call it growth or divine intervention.

“I won’t say it is God but it was the death of my ego, I felt so naked and afraid because all I ever had was my ego and that made me a very special and famous person.”

Tyson’s terrifying power, trademark peek-a-boo style and freakish intensity were the perfect blend concocted by trainer Cus D’Amato.

The legendary cornerman plucked the once-bullied street kid from a New York reform school and gradually transformed him into heavyweight boxing’s youngest ever world champion.

Years of training and hours of studying between mentor and pupil created arguably boxing’s most terrifying fighter.

But Tyson, choking back tears, remembers a throwaway comment while taking out the garbage that changed the course of history.

He said: “There is nobody I loved more than Cus.

“Cus believed in me and everyone thought he was a whacko, they all said I was too small and everyone was going to beat me.

“One day I was taking the garbage out and he said: ‘Man, I just wish you were bigger’.

“I took him back to the house and said: ‘Cus, I promise, I am going to make the whole world afraid of me, just watch and see’.

“He broke my heart when he said that to me.”

  • Lennox Lewis Claims Deontay Wilder Would Not Have Beaten Prime Mike Tyson

Lennox Lewis Claims Deontay Wilder Would Not Have Beaten Prime Mike Tyson

Lennox Lewis claimed in January 2018 that Deontay Wilder wouldn’t have been able to beat the often talked about ‘Prime Mike Tyson,’ and that’s before the Bronze Bomber lost a fight.

The former heavyweight took to Twitter over two years ago, after the American claimed that he could have beaten Tyson back in the late 80s when he was known as ‘Iron Mike.’

The Brit did go on to praise the ‘Bronze Bomber’ for his confidence in his abilities inside the squared circle.

There is no doubt that Wilder is a big believer in his own abilities so his claims about knocking out ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ aren’t out of character.

When TMZ specifically asked Wilder in 2018 if he would stand a chance against Tyson, he unequivocally responded: “Yes.”

But the ‘Bronze Bomber’ went on to proclaim that he fears no heavyweight, past or present, by adding that whether they’re “old school [or] new school, I knock them all out.”

Of course hindsight really does favour Lewis, who claimed he fought Tyson in said ‘prime,’ with Wilder having lost to Tyson Fury at the beginning of this year.

In the build up to the fight the Gypsy King said he was going to stop the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist before the fight went the distance, with Wilder saying in retaliation that Fury had ‘pillow hands.’

That certainly didn’t prove to be the case as the then challenger dropped the champion twice before the fight was stopped in the seventh round.

Since then 54-year-old Tyson is preparing to come out of retirement and created a huge amount of buzz about it.

  • A 15-Year-Old Mike Tyson Knocking Out Joe Cortez In Eight Seconds Is Just Frightening

A 15-Year-Old Mike Tyson Knocking Out Joe Cortez In Eight Seconds Is Just Frightening

The year is 1981 and a young Mike Tyson was quickly making a name for himself in the world of boxing. He was an animal. An unstoppable force.

Just take his Junior Olympic gold medal fight against Joe Cortez, for example.

Tyson’s famous speed and agility is clear to see, even at the tender age of 15. He is incredibly developed and skilled in the ring and as a result, his opponent had no chance.

In the opening seconds of the round, a young Tyson almost runs towards a helpless Cortez, throwing lefts and rights like a man possessed.

It took him just under 10 seconds to flatten Cortez, and the rest is history. Tyson would go on to win the 1981 and 1982 Junior Olympics and a dominant career in the heavyweight division would follow.

But despite his legacy in the sport, Tyson was not voted the greatest boxer of all time by SPORTbible’s audience.

The legendary Muhammad Ali was instead named the best of all time, beating the likes of Tyson, Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Ray Robinson to the title.

In an online poll, SPORTbible’s audience gave Ali the majority of the vote as ‘The Greatest’ maintained a huge lead throughout, eventually receiving a total of 59% in the overall standings.

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather was miles behind in second place with 19% while Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Robinson came in third and fourth with 16% and 6% respectively.

Do you think Mike Tyson is one of the all-time greats?

Victoria Beckham arrived in Girona via private jet on Tuesday as she got back to work after her 50th birthday celebrations.

Her trip to the Catalonian city comes on the day of the launch of her new clothing collaboration with Spanish brand Mango.

Tuesday night will see a catwalk show to celebrate the collection going live on the brand’s website.

She dressed casually in all-black as she disembarked the plane and made her way into the airport – with an assistant carrying her crutches for her as she continues to recover from a broken foot.

Victoria completed her look with dark shades and comfortable trainers and wore her long brunette tresses loose.

Her team were seen leaving the jet with various garment bags ahead of the important night.

Victoria is looking forward with her fashion career after her designer items were caught in the fallout of the collapse of fashion group Matches this month.

The Spice Girl is focusing on her high street collaboration with Mango, her first foray into the affordable market.

Her trademark slip dresses, knitwear and tailoring have been reacreated at a more purse-friendly price point, compared to the £90 she charges for a t-shirt from her eponymous label, which was launched in 2008.

Victoria revealed in an interview with WWD that she had decided to work with Mango to ‘speak to a wider audience in a way that feels relevant to my brand and retains my aesthetic and DNA’.

And in an interview with Vogue last week she insisted she hasn’t compromised on quality, promising that ‘when you invest in one of these pieces, you won’t just wear it for one season, they’ll be pieces you’ll keep in your wardrobe and wear time and time again.’

Calling the collection ‘timeless’ Victoria gushed: ‘I think people will be very surprised by how strong the fashion message is in every single garment.’

And industry experts agree that a move to the high street is exactly what designers like Victoria should be focusing on.

Speaking to Harpers Bazaar this week Dr Bethan Alexander, Reader in Fashion Retailing & Marketing at the Fashion Business School, London College of Fashion said there are huge benefits to both the designer and the high street shops.

‘A designer collaboration is a viable opportunity to increase market share while the designers maintain their market position,’ she explained.

‘The luxury market is facing unprecedented challenges right now, so it’s especially important. Maintaining sales is difficult, but the quick, relatively easy cash injection from collaborations is appealing.’

She still also owns her Victoria Beckham clothing line and while she’s finally making a profit from her cash-strapped line, Victoria’s pricey designer pieces found themselves in trouble again last week.

The Mail On Sunday revealed how the star has called in ‘the mother of all returns’ after the collapse of fashion group Matches.

The star and bosses at her VB label have demanded that the online retailer gives back all the summer stock she sent to it in March, only to learn days later that the company had failed.

A VB source says she has been working with Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group, which bought Matches last December, to get her clothes back because she fears the firm, now in administration, may not pay her.

Currently there are 68 VB lines on sale on the website.

The source said: ‘Matches is continuing to sell designer clothing online, and has promised to pay for it all.

Different brands have their own arrangements with Matches.

In VB’s case, Victoria has ordered that her whole collection must be sent back – which has been agreed to, in principle. Smaller labels had to write off their stock and now face losing their business.

The Spice Girl is focusing on her high street collaboration with Mango, her first foray into the affordable market

Fans were quick to share their excitement about the collection with many claiming on Victoria’s Instagram post to have already bought some items.

‘I love the entire collection, just placed my order,’ one person commented.

Another said: ‘It’s absolutely stunning, dresses are so feminine and elegant️, just got one!’

Last weekend the Spice Girl celebrated her 50th birthday alongside her family and friends in the South of France and London.

Husband David Beckham, 48, jetted Victoria, her four children and her parents out to France on Thursday for dinner at the famous La Colombe d’Or.

And on Saturday she partied the night away with her A-lister friends including Tom Cruise, 61, and the rest of her fellow Spice Girls as they gathered at London’s private members club Oswald’s to celebrate.

The Mail on Sunday revealed Victoria called in ‘the mother of all returns’ after the collapse of fashion group Matches.

Victoria s team at her own label demanded that the online retailer send back all of their summer stock that she sent to them in March – only to learn days later the company had collapsed.
