Tyson Fury clashes with Francis Ngannou in 'bizarre' altercation just days before Anthony Joshua fight

Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou clashed in a ‘bizarre’ altercation ahead of the latter’s fight against Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou takes on Joshua on Friday in the second boxing bout of his budding career.

And former foe Fury has arrived in Saudi Arabia to support his brother Roman Fury, who fights on the undercard.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ will also be ringside for the main-event showdown between Joshua and Ngannou.

The winner is in line to meet the winner of Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk.

The WBC title holder could run it back with the former UFC heavyweight king following their October fight, which he won in controversial fashion.

Ahead of a potential rematch, Fury and Ngannou clashed as they posed for a picture with Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh.

That’s according to Andy Lee, who told iFL TV: “It is a bizarre thing. Anthony Joshua’s on one side, Tyson’s here.

“Then Ngannou came in and Tyson pulled him up straight away.

“He said, ‘Hey you, you’ve been talking about me in interviews, saying I’m a coward, calling me a yellow belly’.

“But Ngannou in fairness was quite cool and calm and went, ‘No I didn’t say that’.

“Tyson went, ‘You did. I beat you, I beat you’.

“Ngannou said, ‘No, no, no. I didn’t say that’.

“Tyson said, ‘What does your record say?’

“Then Tyson said, ‘You take care of your man, I’ll take care of mine and I’ll give it to you again’.

“He put it on him for a bit, it was interesting.”

Asked if Joshua and promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren saw the exchange between Fury and Ngannou, Lee replied: “They were there.

“And I was chatting to Tyson at the time and then there was Ngannou.

“I had a bottle of water, Joe’s water, in my hand. I said, ‘Joe, you better hold this’.

“Because I was worried about Tyson and his eye because his eye is still healing.

“But nothing came of it. Tyson probably had to do that because he wouldn’t be able to live with himself unless he pulled him up for saying what he said.

“I respected him for doing it, Tyson.

“And I respected Ngannou because it wasn’t like he sh*t himself, or backed down, or apologised. He just stood his ground.”

Tyson Fury interrupted the pre-fight press conference ahead of Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou.

On Friday night, Joshua and Ngannou are set to enter the ring inside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the bout, things got heated during the press conference after Fury interrupted the proceedings.

The Brit, who was sitting in front of the stage, got into an argument with Ngannou.

Ngannou said: “Your only chance is in the boxing ring with the boxing rules. Away from that, you better stay five metres away from me. Because if I lose it, you are going to have a really bad time my friend.

“Respect the fact that boxing is protecting us and the boxing rules are protecting us because without that, you are nothing in front of me. I beat you everyday.”

Fury was seen shouting back towards the Cameroonian too. He said: “No problem, anytime.”

You can watch the exchange below.

Speaking about his fight with Joshua, Ngannou said: “I am really intending to gain a lot of major victories like this. One more over Tyson because I have the first one over him and I’m intending to have the second one. And he’s been b******* about it, which is true.”

Joshua also said that the former UFC champion cannot be taken lightly, he said: “On paper, but there’s a reality init? Look at how I came up in the game, I came out of nowhere and three years got myself to the Olympics and became Olympic champion.

“In three years as a professional, became world champion. Stranger things have happened in life, but I’m a different beast and I’m ready.”

Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou to have unusual rule for major fight after strict demand from UFC legend

Anthony Joshus’s fight against Francis Ngannou is to have an unusual rule after a strict demand from the UFC legend.

On Friday night, the pair are set to enter the ring inside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This is going to be Ngannou’s second boxing bout, having been beaten by Tyson Fury on his debut back in October.

Normally, a professional boxing fight takes place over 12 three-minute rounds.

However, Joshua vs Ngannou will instead have only 10 three-minute rounds, after a request from the former UFC champion.

As reported by The Sun, the Cameroonian said: “They told me 12 and I said ‘No, cut it out.’ I’m not taking a Mike Tyson fight as a reference like ‘Oh, I’m a pro boxer now’.

“No, I’m building it up. I just came into it, they asked for ten rounds or 12 rounds, and I said ten.”

Ngannou also spoke about the prospect of having mixed rules, he said: “Anything that he wants. Ring or octagon. The good thing is I’m the one that can go everywhere comfortably. My comfort zone will be the octagon, but I’m going to the ring and putting them in a bad spot in the ring.

“I have my territory [in MMA] where they cannot mess with me. If they come, they will need something like some favour, like, ‘I’ll give you this, we’ll take kicks out.’”

Ngannou added: “I have to give him something, but when we step in the ring, they don’t give me anything, and I still get them in trouble.”

Anthony Joshua finally reveals what is playing on his AirPod during boxing press conferences

Anthony Joshua has finally revealed what is playing on his AirPod during boxing press conferences.

Back in January, AJ wore only one AirPod as he faced off with former UFC champion Ngannou in London.

When asked at the time, Joshua refused to disclose what he was listening to.

He said: “I’m not telling you that! I’m not telling you that, what airpod? You’re very observant.”

This Friday night, the pair will enter the ring in a contest inside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout will take place over 10 three minute rounds.

Speaking during the pre fight press ocnference on Thursday afternoon, Joshua finally revealed what is playing on the AirPod.

He said: “Music, music, music. I don’t know why there’s a big conspiracy on what I listen to on my AirPod. I don’t know what the big deal is”

When asked about the video Ngannou made which appeared to mock Joshua, the Brit said: “All good, all good. Back to the fight business”

Looks like @francis_ngannou has found Anthony Joshua’s missing airpod #JoshuaNgannou

Back in January, Joshua spoke of Ngannou, he said: “Every fight leads to somewhere, so this fight is my everything, my soul, my spirit, my mind, my body.

“We’ll see where it leads me but at the moment I’m not thinking about championship belts or anything other than Francis. We’re putting the belts on hold, I’m searching for greatness.”

He added: “He brings two arms, a body, like every other fighter does. It’s just his mind that’s different but in terms of his frame, he’s seen people like me before and I’ve seen people like him before. It’s going to be good, it’s going to be explosive but there are many ways to skin a cat.”

Mike Tyson to fight Jake Paul as date and venue confirmed for stunning boxing match

Mike Tyson is to face Jake Paul in a surprise boxing match this summer with a date and venue already set for the mouth-watering clash.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul extended his professional record to 9-1 with a first-round victory over Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico on March 2.

In a hugely surprising move, Paul has already announced his next opponent – incredibly choosing to face former undisputed heavyweight world champion Tyson. A trailer for the fight has already been released, check it out below.

The pair with face each other on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in what will be the main event of a card that will air on Netflix, officials told ESPN.

It will be the streaming giant’s first live combat sports broadcast and only its third live sporting event overall.

“Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is a once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup and I anticipate it will be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history,” co-founder of Paul’s promotional company MVP, Nakisa Bidarian, said in a statement.

Paul confirmed the fight by posting a picture of the event on X, alongside the caption: “Promotion promotion promotion if I’m being honest it don’t need that.. The biggest fight of the 21st century, in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world…that’s the MVP way.

“Whether you’re tuning in on Netflix or showing out in person, whether you’re team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to want to miss this event.

“I could not be more excited to make this amazing fight available to all Netflix subscribers alongside the hardest hitter of all time, Mike Tyson, on Saturday, July 20th.

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

Tyson also confirmed the fight with a much shorter statement, posting a picture of the same poster alongside the caption: “We signed the contract.”

There is a huge age difference between Tyson, 57, and the 27-year-old Paul – the younger brother of fellow YouTuber-turn-boxer Logan.

Tyson has not fought since drawing with another legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition boxing match in 2020.

His last professional bout came back in 2005 against Kevin McBride, when he was stopped in six rounds before hanging up the gloves.

It is unclear what weight class his upcoming fight with Paul will be contested at, and if the fight will be another exhibition or a fully professional bout.

KSI has brutal reaction after hearing that Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is confirmed

KSI gave a brutal reaction after hearing that Mike Tyson will fight Jake Paul in a stunning exhibition match in July.

Tyson, who is now 57 years of age, will compete in his first fight since taking on historic rival Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition in November 2020.

His fight against Paul, which was announced without any prior speculation on Thursday afternoon, will take place on Saturday, July 20 in Arlington, Texas.

Officials told ESPN that the bout will be the main event of a card that will air on Netflix – as part of the first boxing event ever broadcast live by the streaming giants.

You can watch the trailer for the fight below.

Paul will enter the fight off the back of a first-round knockout win over fellow professional boxer Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico on March 2.

That extended his professional boxing record to 9-1, with his only defeat arriving courtesy of a split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023.

And while his long-time rival Fury has yet to react to the news of the Tyson vs Paul fight, KSI has – and it’s safe to say he isn’t exactly relishing the prospect of watching the bout.

Taking to Twitter, he simply stated: “50+ years old. No-one wanted this… So sad to see man…”

After knocking out Andre August in December 2023, Paul took aim at KSI and accused him of ‘chasing views’ instead of success in boxing.

He said (quotes via Daily Mail): “I don’t know, I don’t care [if a fight vs KSI will happen].

“It’s just two different things. He’s chasing views as a 30-year-old man, and I’m chasing legacy and belts.”

KSI and Paul were originally due to face off in August 2023, but KSI’s management claimed that Paul’s team shunned a fight in favour of taking on UFC star Nate Diaz instead. Paul won that fight via unanimous decision.

Jake Paul has been slammed for his ‘shameless’ prediction for his shock fight against Mike Tyson.

Paul will face Tyson in a boxing match on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Paul makes a swift return to action having scored a big knockout win over Ryan Bourland last weekend.

As for Tyson, he returns to the ring for the first time since his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.

And ahead of their summer showdown, Paul has warned that he’s going to put the boxing legend ‘to sleep’.

On X, the 27-year-old wrote: “Promotion promotion promotion if I’m being honest it don’t need that.. The biggest fight of the 21st century, in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world… that’s the MVP way.

Considering the age gap between Tyson, who is 57, and Paul, fight fans on social media mocked his warning.

One X user wrote: “This has got to be a joke? Can’t be seriously bragging about the prospect of putting a 57 year old to sleep?… this shouldn’t be allowed.”

A second tweeted: “Bro fighting someone born in 1966.”

    A third added: “Actually shameless.”

Mike Tyson reportedly had one condition before agreeing to fight Jake Paul.

The boxing world was shocked on Thursday afternoon when it was confirmed that Tyson will come out of retirement to take on YouTuber turned-boxer Paul.

Announcing the fight, popular streaming platform Netflix wrote on social media: “It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss. Airing live on Netflix Saturday, July 20 #PaulTyson.”

Back in May 2022, Tyson reportedly told the Club Random Podcast that he would happily fight Paul, but on the condition that the event broke pay-per-view records.

He said: “I don’t look at him the way society looks at him, I can’t even say what they call him.

“He’s a fighter but they don’t want to credit him as being a fighter. He can fight and everybody wants to kick his a** because he p***** everybody off. He’s a great salesman and promoter, he doesn’t even know it. He’s just a natural great promoter.”

Speaking last year on The Journey Podcast, Paul said: “I’m like, ‘I’ll start eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts and move up to heavyweight and take on Mike Tyson.’ That would actually excite me and that’s a $300m event. So, Mike if you’re watching this let’s have some fun. New school vs old school, I think that’s something the fans would want to see.”

How much will Jake Paul and Mike Tyson make? Fight purse, wages and PPV details for mega-fight

YouTuber Jake Paul and former world champion Mike Tyson have announced a high-profile boxing match on July 20. But how much will they earn from the bout?

Tyson, whose professional career ended in 2005, will turn 58 three weeks before facing 27-year-old Paul.

Paul beat Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight last Saturday, and has now set his sights on Tyson, who he has promised to put “to sleep”.

Paul said on X: “My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

It is unclear if it will be an official fight or an exhibition bout, like Tyson’s 2020 encounter with Roy Jones Jr. However, what is certain is the encounter, which will be staged in Texas and broadcast live on streaming platform Netflix, is set to make both fighters a lot of money.

While the respective purses are yet to be publicly released, Paul has said in the past he believes a fight with Tyson would generate $300million (£234.59million).

“I joke with my friends about it,” Paul said while appearing on The Journey Podcast. “I’m like, ‘I’ll start eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts and move up to heavyweight and take on Mike Tyson.’

“That would actually excite me and that’s a $300m event. So, Mike if you’re watching this let’s have some fun. New school vs old school, I think that’s something the fans would want to see.”

Meanwhile, ‘Iron Mike’ has previously admitted on the Club Random Podcast with Bill Maher that he would only fight if the event broke pay-per-view records.

The former world heavyweight champion further claimed on an episode of his Hotboxin podcast that he’d be willing to face Paul for $1billion.

Last year, however, Dazn boxing pundit Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes claimed Tyson would accept a much lower fee for a comeback fight with Paul.

“The reality is, if there’s a real offer on the table, let’s say $50million or maybe close to a hundred, somewhere between $50 and $100million, if that number is really solid, Mike will come back,” Ak said.

“It’s not going to take a billion dollars, it’s a nice way of saying ‘I don’t really want to come back’.

“‘I’m not going to come back for five, $10million dollars, I might not even come back for $20million dollars, you start talking $50million, there’s going to be a different conversation’.

“We love what Mike’s doing, and maybe he doesn’t need to be back in the ring, but like I always say Barak, ‘money talks’, but as of now, no Jake Paul, no Mike Tyson fight.”

There will be no pay-per-view for the fight. Instead it will be available to stream free with a Netflix subscription.
