Max Verstappen being discontent with the turmoil within Red Bull gave rise to rumors of the Dutchman considering a move to Mercedes. With a $160 million a year contract on the table, Verstappen’s entourage is open to the idea of the move. Amid this, Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey is also reportedly interested in following the three-time World Champion to Brackley.

According to Motorsport Italia, Mercedes contacted Newey after the recent news of his wanting to leave Red Bull broke. Newey has not made any contact with Toto Wolff or Mercedes yet, but sources point towards a potential meeting between the two after the Miami GP.

Verstappen’s representatives are also expected to sit with key figures from the Mercedes team after the race in Florida next weekend. Team principal Toto Wolff, Mercedes’ CEO Ola Kallenius, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of INEOS will all be present for this meeting (per Soy Motor).

In addition to a staggering salary, Mercedes is also open to handing the 26-year-old a long-term ambassadorial role, something they didn’t even offer Lewis Hamilton in 2023.  If Verstappen accepts the deal, it could see a huge shake-up within the Red Bull camp. Helmut Marko, who has been one of Verstappen’s biggest supporters, could join him in the German team.

Meanwhile, Newey’s addition would be a huge deal for the Brackley-based outfit. But the process behind the same could be very complicated for Mercedes.

Why Adrian Newey’s Mercedes move is complicated

Newey wants to leave Red Bull immediately, but the Briton is contracted with Red Bull until 2025. Even if he triggers his release clause, he would need to serve a one-year gardening leave, like almost every other F1 engineer.

In that case, Mercedes can secure the 65-year-old’s services at the end of 2025 at the earliest. It would be too late for Mercedes, who would want his valuable input to develop their 2026 car.

This challenge doesn’t just hold for Mercedes, but every team that is linked to Newey. Ferrari (his most likely destination) will have to go through the same problem if they want Newey. The British aerodynamicist’s insight into helping Ferrari get better in his department could be a much-needed impetus in their hopes of winning the Championship in 2026.

For Red Bull, on the other hand, any movement will be a huge loss. Max Verstappen is the most dominant driver in F1 today. As a result, replacing him will be incredibly difficult, as will replacing Newey- one of the most gifted engineers of all time.

Max Verstappen gave a callback to one of his most famous incidents from 2012 on one of his recent online streams. The “inchident” moment involving Charles Leclerc is still in the Dutchman’s head as he responded to one of his Team Redline teammates by referring to the same.

Verstappen and Leclerc were involved in a furious bout towards the end of one of their karting battles back in 2012. Racing at Val d’Argeton and heading into a double right-hander, Leclerc did not allow Verstappen much space. The two drivers touched after heavy rain, and Verstappen had to take the wet line with a huge puddle up ahead. Unable to steer clear of it, the Dutchman ended up very wet.

Speaking to the reporters following the race, Leclerc claimed it was “just an inchident” between the two drivers. The interview gave way to one of the most iconic jokes of F1, but one that has been used by the Verstappen on several occasions.

After an incident during one of his recent races with Team Redline, Verstappen highlighted this once again. He said,

“It just happened right? An inchident. We have an inchident.”

The “inchident” joke became viral because of Leclerc’s Monegasque accent, but the majority of the community seems to think that Verstappen has overused it. After his recent mention, fans took to social media to share their feelings about the same.

Some more fans chimed in to have their say on Verstappen not letting go of this joke from 12 years ago.

Verstappen continues with this joke only in jest. There was a time when the tussle between two drivers in karting led to the start of a new rivalry. They were at each other’s throats in the subsequent battles but things have taken a mellow turn over the last few years.

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc’s relationship

Having come a long way from their karting days, both Leclerc and Verstappen have grown mature enough to let go of their past differences. They share a healthy friendship, often exchanging jokes during interviews. Verstappen and Leclerc treat each other as respected rivals and acknowledge each others’ strengths and achievements.

Recently, when Leclerc launched his ice-cream brand, the media asked Leclerc if he sent Verstappen his favorite flavor of ice cream to calm him down. Leclerc replied that he would be sending vanilla (his favorite flavor) ice cream over to the Red Bull driver, and also beat him on the track.

While the two drivers currently enjoy a healthy relationship, things could take a turn for the worse. The Ferrari driver has not been Verstappen’s direct challenger for the Championship yet. When that happens, the two could reignite their rivalry that stems back to their karting days.

Daniel Ricciardo last won an F1 race at the 2021 Italian GP in Monza. The Australian driver basked in glory that afternoon but it wouldn’t have been the case had  his teammate Lando Norris chosen to fight him since he felt quicker than the Honey Badger on the day.

In Lando Norris’ biography written by Ben Hunt, the author reveals what went through Norris’ mind during the race in Monza three years ago. According to him, Norris didn’t attack or overtake Ricciardo only because McLaren asked them not to fight. An excerpt of the biography read,

Norris clearly felt he was quicker than Ricciardo and wanted permission to overtake. However, unlike some drivers who decide to take matters into their own hands, Norris respected the instruction not to overtake Ricciardo, even though it meant that he was denied the chance to win his first F1 race.”

Charlotte Sefton, Norris’ former Public Relations Manager went on to talk about the sacrifice Norris made during the race. She added,

I didn’t want Lando to push because I thought we cannot risk this. We’ve got to just hold fire and he did. And actually, he was really gracious“.

Because of Norris’ “gracious sacrifice”, Ricciardo won his eighth F1 race that afternoon, his first since the 2018 Monaco GP. Norris meanwhile, has not had a clear chance to win a race since then, barring the 2021 Russian GP where a mistake on his end rendered him winless.

For Ricciardo, that was the peak of his McLaren career. He otherwise had a torrid time at the Woking-based outfit, who cut his stay short at the end of the 2022 season.

Daniel Ricciardo’s slump after leaving Red Bull

Ricciardo made a bold decision to leave Red Bull at the end of the 2018 season and join Renault. However, the move wasn’t what he expected and he managed just two podium finishes in his two seasons with the Enstone-based outfit.

Ricciardo wanted more, he wanted to fight at the front of the grid which is why he decided to switch to McLaren- a team that seemed to be on the ascendency.

While McLaren did turn out to be a strong team, Ricciardo’s performances didn’t reflect that on the track. Norris comprehensively outperformed him in both 2021 and 2022. Initially, he joined on a three-year contract but Zak Brown, the team’s CEO pulled the plug on him after just two seasons.

Ricciardo’s biggest highlight at McLaren was his 2021 Italian GP win, also because it was the Perth-born driver’s last win in the sport. Following his departure from Woking, Ricciardo remained on the sidelines for the first half of the 2023 season before being called up to V-CARB.

Unfortunately, his return to Red Bull’s sister team has not been rejoiceful either, as he fails to get out of the slump he got in post-2018.

  • 3 Reasons Why Carlos Sainz Won’t Land the Red Bull Seat

Lewis Hamilton will replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari in 2025 which leaves the Spaniard without a seat for the next season and beyond. Sainz, being one of the most talented drivers in F1 is unlikely to be short of suitors. One of the teams that he has been linked with is Red Bull. But because of three key reasons, this move may not follow through.

Max Verstappen’s presence at Red Bull is perhaps the most important roadblock between Sainz and the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. With Verstappen being the clear number one driver at Red Bull, Sainz will find himself being in an undesirable position- helping the Dutchman win races.

Sainz was teammates with Verstappen in 2015 and the first half of 2016 at Toro Rosso. On the track, they didn’t have any nervy moments. Off it however, their fathers (Carlos Sainz Sr. and Jos Verstappen) often clashed wanting Red Bull to prioritize their respective sons.

Meanwhile, Red Bull could refrain from choosing to sign Sainz (or anyone for that matter). Speculations about Sergio Perez being replaced have been rampant but the Mexican’s improved performances so far this season point towards the Austrian team offering him a contract extension.

The third reason why Sainz’s move is unlikely is because of the tempting offer he has reportedly received from Audi.  Helmut Marko recently pointed out how his side cannot match the lucrative deal Audi put on the Madrid-born driver’s table.

As of now, Sainz’s return to the Red Bull family seems to be out of the cards. There are two options, however, that he can still consider for 2025. The first option is undoubtedly the offer he has reportedly received from Audi. Meanwhile, the other could be the vacant seat at Mercedes.

Which team is Carlos Sainz likely to sign for in 2025?

Considering Sainz’s start to the 2024 season, he is likely to be one of the most sought-after drivers this silly season. Mercedes, who are looking for a replacement to Hamilton, could end up signing the three-time race winner as a result.

The Silver Arrows also have 17-year-old Kimi Antonelli under their wings but because of his inexperience, the team wants to give him more time to develop. In the meantime, they want an experienced driver to help continue their progress.

If a move to Brackley doesn’t materialize for Sainz, he could consider a move to Sauber, who will be rebranded to Audi in 2026. The only reason Sainz hasn’t agreed to the move is reportedly because of the Hinwil-based outfit’s position in the Championship standings.

Having driven for a top team in the last four seasons, Sainz wants to continue fighting at the front. Unless Sauber/Audi can guarantee him that, he would be apprehensive about the switch. However, he has to make a decision regarding his Sauber move fast, because the team is reportedly also eyeing other drivers.

Adrian Newey is one of F1’s most decorated engineers and has helped Red Bull achieve unfathomable success since joining the team in 2006. Now that rumors of his departure from the Milton-Keynes-based outfit emerge, ex-Williams driver Riccardo Patrese calls for Ferrari to do whatever it takes to land him.

Patrese worked with Newey at Williams in the 1990s and wants the top brass in Maranello to go all in for the master aerodynamicist. In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he said,

“Without a doubt, they have to do everything possible to hire him. He is the king of engineers. If Adrian comes, we will win.”

Patrese is a Ferrari fan and like the rest of the Tifosi, is longing for a Championship win again. Per reports, Ferrari remains the favorite to sign Newey in case he ends up leaving Red Bull. Peter Windsor, Newey’s former colleague revealed that he rejected a mega offer from Lawrence Stroll’s team Aston Martin.

Newey never hid the fact that joining Ferrari is a dream. Now with him wanting to leave Red Bull and Aston Martin out of the way (per Windsor), Ferrari does not have any obstacle in their way to signing Newey.

How Adrian Newey’s addition to Ferrari looks

Newey, before joining Red Bull, worked for Williams and McLaren. In his time in F1 with the three aforementioned teams, Newey contributed to 25 World Championship wins (Drivers’ and Constructors’ combined).

His expertise in aerodynamics can boost Ferrari’s performance in the years to come. Lewis Hamilton’s addition to the outfit from 2025 onwards also increases the outfit’s chances of succeeding on the track. On paper, not a lot of things go against Newey ahead of his potential move to Ferrari.

However, there is a catch. Should Newey exit Red Bull after the 2024 season, he will have to sit out the 2025 campaign as part of the mandatory gardening leave. While it could hand the Briton some time to think about how to topple Red Bull with his new employers, the latter would prefer to have him in the paddock to develop the 2026 car.

If Red Bull does end up forcing Newey to serve the gardening leave, the 65-year-old’s work could be on display on the track as late as the 2027 season.

McLaren parted ways with David Sanchez in April, just three months after the Frenchman joined the Woking-based team as its Technical Director. Sanchez, who previously worked for Ferrari was deemed “too senior” for his role at McLaren, according to team principal Andrea Stella. This is why he was let go.

Sanchez joined McLaren as Technical Director of Car Concept and Performance in January. However, it didn’t take long for Stella to figure out that the had too much experience to remain in a position like that. As quoted in a report published by Motorsport Week, the McLaren boss said,

He’s a very senior person, very senior figure in Formula 1. And we kind of realised that to some extent he was almost too senior for the position that he was having.”

After Stella and McLaren realized the same, they sat together with Sanchez to discuss his future. They decided to cut ties mutually and Stella insisted that it happened in an “amicable and friendly way”. He also believes David Sanchez will find a senior role in F1 shortly.

McLaren’s decision to remove Sanchez from the team coincided with the recent reshuffling of their technical department. Their aim- to strengthen and evolve the technical model within the stable.

How McLaren restructured their team amid resurgence

Ahead of the 2024 season, McLaren appointed three men to head their technical departments, all under the same umbrella. They were the Technical Director of Car Concept and Performance, the Technical Director of Engineering, and one for Aerodynamics.

This, however, changed soon. Following Sanchez’s departure, Rob Marshall became the chief designer, Neil Houldey became engineering head and Peter Prodromou remained in charge of aerodynamics.

Stella and McLaren’s decision cannot be questioned, as the team continues to show progress. While the papaya outfit remains a long way behind Red Bull, Ferrari is within its reach. The battle for P2 in the Constructors’ Championship promises to be exciting owing to McLaren’s performances in recent weeks.

David Sanchez, meanwhile, is linked with a move to Alpine. The French team has had a disastrous start to the season and his expertise could pull them out of their misery. At McLaren, Sanchez’s replacement hasn’t been hired yet and Stella will fill in the role until they find someone suitable.

Sergio Perez’s start to the 2024 season has been good, easing the pressure on him after his dip in form last year. Still, the Mexican driver remains in trouble, not of losing his Red Bull seat but of getting a race ban for his team’s unsafe release in Saudi Arabia earlier this campaign.

Penalty points are given out to the drivers’ super license as a punishment for mistakes they or their teams make on the track. A total of 12 penalty points results in one race ban and as things stand, Sergio Perez is just four points away. With a total of eight, he is tied with Logan Sargeant at the top of the list as per the latest update following the Chinese GP.

The 34-year-old received the first penalty point at the Singapore GP last season. Stewards deemed him responsible for a collision with Alex Albon during the race in Marina Bay. At the very next race in Japan, Perez got four points – firstly because of overtaking Fernando Alonso under Safety Car conditions and then because of another collision with Kevin Magnussen.

Perez’s season ended with two more points for a shunt with Lando Norris in Abu Dhabi and the Guadalajara-born driver would have been hoping that was the end.

Unfortunately, in the second race of the 2024 season, Perez got another penalty point. This wasn’t down to his mistake, as Red Bull was found guilty of unsafe release in the pit lane when Perez came in for his stop. Four more points and Perez will end up being forced to sit out a race. This outcome could be catastrophic for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit’s fight for the Constructors” Championship.

Why does the FIA give drivers penalty points?

The FIA gives drivers penalty points to encourage greater discipline on the race track. If a driver receives a total of 12 penalty points in 12 months, they receive a race ban. After those 12 months, drivers get a clean slate and start afresh.

Alongside Sergio Perez, Sargeant is another driver who is in trouble of getting a race ban. As per the latest report following the Chinese GP, the American driver is also four points away from missing a race.

Following Sergio Perez and Sargeant is the Aston Martin duo of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Stroll has seven penalty points, whereas Alonso has six. While not in immediate danger of having to sit out a race, both drivers would look to be careful in the coming rounds.

Max Verstappen, Zhou Guanyu, Valtteri Bottas, Nico Hulkenberg, and Daniel Ricciardo have the least amount of points on their super licenses (two).

Ayrton Senna never had a cordial relationship with the FIA, something that became evident when the governing body of F1 called him out just a day before the Brazilian’s tragic fatal crash at the Imola circuit. It enraged the three-time World Champion, who publicly questioned their audacity.

At the 1994 San Marino GP, tensions were high. Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger met with an accident on Saturday that unfortunately took his life. Senna asked the Course Car to take him to the site of the crash following the session, which the FIA saw as a breach of regulations. Additionally, he didn’t appear for the post-session interviews which is a big no in the FIA’s rulebook.

Instead of fining Senna, the FIA decided to publicly call him out. In Tom Rubython’s book, ‘The Life of Senna‘, the then-Williams driver was reported to be miffed with FIA’s John Corsmit (a steward at the 1994 San Marino GP). Senna was quoted saying,

“How dare they tell me what I could do. I am driving the car and they tell me about safety.”

For Senna, signs were ominous throughout the San Marino GP weekend in 1994. He was concerned with safety for a long time and it started with Rubens Barrichello’s crash during Friday practice. The following day, Ratzenberger’s crash and death made him even more fearful of his and his counterparts’ safety. So much so, that Senna considered not racing on Sunday altogether.

Ayrton Senna was not going to race in the 1994 San Marino GP

Ratzenberger’s crash crushed Senna’s spirits completely before the race. Rubython’s book reports that Senna contemplated not racing as revealed by his girlfriend at the time- Adriane Galisteu. Breaking down into tears, Senna told Galisteu,

“I have a really bad feeling about this race, I would rather not drive.”

Predicting the future is difficult but Senna not driving on Sunday would have spared his life. Senna was in the lead of the race when Michael Schumacher’s Benetton was in hot pursuit of the Brazilian’s Williams. On lap 7, his car gave out at Tamburello and Senna veered off to the right and crashed into the concrete barriers.

Like Ratzenberger, he too lost his life in Imola that afternoon, causing outrage and shocking the paddock to its core. In the wake of Senna’s death, the FIA, along with Professor Sid Watkins (Senna’s close friend and FIA’s medical officer at the time) made drastic changes to driver safety in the sport.

The authorities started taking safety much more seriously and today, there is no compromise on that front whatsoever.

Sauber, who will rebrand to Audi in 2026, recently announced the signing of Nico Hulkenberg on a multi-year deal which will see the German driver join them next season. Now, they set their sights on Esteban Ocon, which will be concerning news for their reported long-time target, Carlos Sainz.

As per F1 Insider, Sauber is evaluating Ocon as a possible candidate should Sainz choose to side with Red Bull or Mercedes. Considering the woeful situation at Ocon’s current team Alpine, the Frenchman choosing to join Sauber shouldn’t be a surprise.

However, having Ocon in the team isn’t the only option Sauber/Audi is evaluating. They could sign someone else or retain one of their existing stars- Zhou Guanyu or Valtteri Bottas. Should that happen, Sainz will be left with even fewer options for 2025 as he will have to leave Ferrari after the culmination of the 2024 season, owing to Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in Maranello.

Sainz is linked to both Red Bull and Mercedes in addition to Audi. However, neither team has guaranteed Sainz a place to date. Sergio Perez seems to be doing what Red Bull is asking of him, making his contract extension more likely by the day. On the other hand, with Mercedes, Sainz is reportedly finding it difficult to agree on the length of the contract offered by the Silver Arrows.

Sauber, although interested in Sainz, won’t be waiting too long. The Hinwil-based team wants its future sorted before it is too late. As such, the Spaniard has to make a decision soon if he is to avoid letting this opportunity fall into the hands of someone like Ocon.

    Carlos Sainz’s links to Audi

Audi enters F1 by taking over Sauber completely, a move that will come into effect in 2026. The German manufacturers have high ambitions and are putting together every piece of the puzzle starting with selecting the right drivers for their project.

Audi and Sainz share a strong link, thanks to his father Carlos Sainz Sr.’s ties to the team. Hence, as soon as Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for 2025 was official, Audi became one of the teams most interested in Sainz.

Audi wanted Hulkenberg, a German driver in the team who will race under the Sauber banner in 2025 before they make their official entry into the sport. Now, they want a driver with race-winning experience to join Hulkenberg. Sainz remains the prime candidate for the same.

The problem with this move lies with the fact that Sainz wants to drive for a top team. Sauber, currently, are languishing at the bottom of the pack and there is no surety that they will make strides next year or even after Audi’s arrival. As such, the Spanish star is taking his time to see if Red Bull and Mercedes have a spot for him.

West’s move toward launching a Yeezy Porn studio comes five years after saying he had an ‘addiction’ to lewd material.

The musical artist previously expressed regret that he watched pornography so often, even claiming adult entertainment had ‘destroyed my family.’

More recently, however, he is thought to have been behind his wife Bianca Censori‘s jaw-dropping outfits that leave her intimate parts exposed to view.

A representative for West informed TMZ Tuesday that the rap star hopes to add an adult entertainment branch to his Yeezy empire, possibly this summer.

He is said to be communicating with Moz in hopes he will run his studio.

Moz’s history in porn stretches back to at least 2007 when he was an art director on Operation: Desert Stormy, whose star Stormy Daniels he married that year.

Although West has purportedly been considering entering the porn industry for some time, he is now said to be in serious negotiations to start a studio.

West described himself as a porn addict in 2019, saying that his fixation with adult entertainment began when he was only five years old

‘For me, Playboy was my gateway into full on pornography addiction. My dad had a Playboy left out at age five and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life,’ he told Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio.

He added: ‘From age five till now, having to kick the habit and it just presents itself in the open like it’s OK and I stand up and say: “No, it’s not OK.”‘

Three years later, during a bitter feud with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian over their children’s schooling, West claimed porn had ‘destroyed’ his family.

The former couple are co-parenting two daughters, North, 10, and Chicago, six, as well as two sons, Saint, eight, and Psalm, four.

West and Kardashian wed in 2014, and filed for divorce in February 2021 after months of speculation that their marriage was on the verge of collapse.

The following year, West claimed to have a porn ‘addiction’ while denouncing his former mother-in-law Kris Jenner, in a furious Instagram caption addressed to Kylie Jenner’s former assistant Victoria Villarroel.

‘Don’t let Kris make you do playboy like she made Kyle and Kim do,’ he urged Victoria. ‘Hollywood is a giant brothel Pornography destroyed my family I deal with the addiction Instagram promotes it Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago.’

Kardashian starred in a Playboy shoot in 2007, while her younger half-sister Kylie covered the magazine’s Pleasure issue over a decade later in 2019.

In October 2022, West’s career imploded after he launched a string of anti-Semitic tirades, including a vow to go ‘death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.’

Shortly thereafter, West faced allegations that he had presided over a ‘sexualized’ work environment suffused with pornography at Yeezy. He was accused of showing staffers nude photos and footage of Kim in a supposed bid to intimidate them, in an exposé published by Rolling Stone.
