The fight rules for Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul have been announced.

UFC legend names the exact round Mike Tyson could 'lose' fight with Jake Paul

UFC legend Michael Bisping has sent Mike Tyson a warning over his upcoming clash with Jake Paul after the rules for the Netflix mega-fight were confirmed.

Tyson, 57, will return to the ring to face Paul, 27, on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in what will be a fully professional bout.

While it was initially expected to be an exhibition, a shock announcement earlier this week confirmed the heavyweight fight would be judged under professional rules.

The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves, with the outcome affecting both of their professional boxing records.

The decision by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to sanction the fight is a controversial one, given the huge age difference between the two fighters and the fact Tyson will be 58 by the time of the event.

Former UFC champion Bisping has criticised Paul for accepting the fight and says Tyson must win with an early stoppage, believing he is likely to lose if the bout reaches the fourth round.

“If Jake Paul loses, listen, it’s Mike Tyson, but still, come on,” Bisping said on his Believe You Me podcast.

“He’s 58-years-old but stop it [if you lose] never show your face again. Then if Jake Paul knocks out a 58-year-old man that’s called elderly abuse. You can’t win here. Other than a lot of money.

“It’s only two minutes but if you’ve never boxed or fought you underestimate how long two minutes is.

    Yes it’s a real sanctioned fight with @jakepaul #PaulTyson

    Image

“Mike Tyson, yeah he’s 58 and the rounds are only two minutes long, I think he’s still going to get tired after three rounds.

“That said Jake Paul leaves tremendously massive openings and he’s never fought anyone like Mike Tyson. He went the distance with Nate Diaz, he beat Nate Diaz and I’m not s***ing on him because he’s great, a cult icon.”

Tyson and Paul are set to break a long-standing boxing record when they finally meet in the ring.

That 31-year age gap will be the biggest in the history of professional boxing, surpassing the 24-year age gap between Archie Moore, 49, and Mike DiBiase, 25, when they fought in 1963.

Canelo and De La Hoya clashed at Wednesday’s presser as they were involved in a nasty war of words.

The Golden Boy promoter, who used to look after Canelo’s career before their split, took aim at the superstar boxer.

He claimed he built Canelo’s career and exclaimed: “Put some f**king respect on it.”

De La Hoya then accused the fighter of failing TWO drug tests, which prompted him to confront the 51-year-old.

Devin Haney breaks silence after Ryan Garcia 'tests positive for banned substance'

Devin Haney has broken his silence in a statement after it was reported that Ryan Garcia had tested positive for a banned substance.

Garcia defeated Haney via majority decision on April 20, after knocking down his opponent in rounds seven, 10 and 11.

The California-born fighter lost a $1.5 million bet with his opponent before the fight and failed to make weight, but reportedly pocketed a total amount of around $30 million. His father Bill confirmed the fight revenue would be divided 55/45 in favour of Garcia.

But a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association sent to all parties on Wednesday, and reported by ESPN, stated that Garcia had tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance ostarine on the day before and of his fight against Haney.

Garcia subsequently denied that he used a banned substance, and stated in a video posted to Twitter: “Never taken a steroid … I don’t even know where to get steroids … I barely take supplements. Big lies. I beat his ass.”

He later posted: “Why in the world would I volunteer for a drug test if I planned on taking drugs? Make it make sense???”

Golden Boy Promotions, who represent the 25-year-old, said: “Ryan has put out multiple statements denying knowingly using any banned substances – and we believe him.”

Now, Garcia’s opponent Haney has broken his silence with a statement to ESPN – and he hasn’t held back.

The statement reads: “We learned about this situation not too long ago and it’s unfortunate Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and breaking positive not once, but twice.

“I’ve always been an advocate for clean fighting and this is an example of such.

Statement from Devin Haney to ESPN following Ryan Garcia’s positive A-sample test for the performance-enhancing drug Ostarine:

“Ryan owes the fans an apology, and by his recent tweet he still thinks this is a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people for a living. You don’t play boxing.

“This puts the fight in a completely different light. Despite the disadvantage, I still fought on my shield and got back up!

“People die in this sport. This is no laughing matter.”

Conor McGregor responds to Ryan Garcia's failed drugs tests and offers him a fight in scathing attack

Conor McGregor has launched a scathing attack on Ryan Garcia after he failed a drugs test prior to his win over Devin Haney.

After failing to make weight to deny him a shot at the WBC super lightweight title, Garcia beat Haney via majority decision after knocking his opponent down three times at the Barclays Center.

But it has since emerged, as per ESPN, a document sent from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association showed that Garcia tested positive for the banned substance ostarine the day before and on the day of the fight.

He has denied taking any performance-enhancing drugs in a bizarre video on X, before doubling down on Instagram live.

But on Thursday night, UFC star McGregor let rip in a post that he has unsurprisingly since deleted.

Having originally congratulated Garcia on the victory, he demanded the 25-year-old be given a lifetime ban.

McGregor also called out Garcia and UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley for a spar and pledged to cover flights and hotels.

“Cheated the weight and was juiced, lifetime ban,” McGregor wrote.

“Sad to see, sad to say. Sad and a bit sick. Don’t come near me if I see you ever Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted.

“This ostarine it reminds me of Sean O’Malley was on that as well. I don’t like this, I’ll bust yous both up, do yous want a spar I will set the flights right now for you both for a full on spar each.

Devin Haney makes shock claim about Ryan Garcia rematch after 'dangerous' positive drugs test

Devin Haney has made a shock claim about the prospect of a Ryan Garcia rematch.

Earlier this week Garcia denied taking performance-enhancing steroids after testing positive for a banned substance before his win over Haney.

The WBC confirmed it had “received notification” from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association that Garcia returned “adverse findings” in tests taken in April. The samples were, as per ESPN, taken the day before and the day of his win over Haney, but the results came in afterwards.

“Everybody knows that I don’t cheat,” Garcia wrote on X in response. “Never taken a steroid, I don’t even know where to get steroids. I barely take supplements. Big lies, I beat him.”

Meanwhile, Haney has come out and said he is not interested in a rematch with Garcia and accused the 25-year-old of putting his “life in jeopardy”.

When asked about the prospect of a rematch Haney said, as per Sports Center: “Honestly I’m not too interested in it.

“We’ve seen the guy cheat, we’ve seen the person that he is. I don’t see myself ever getting back in the ring [with him], but we never know… Boxing is just a sport.

“He put my life in jeopardy. So now it’s deeper than boxing with me. I wanna take this somewhere else now. He could’ve done some real dangerous things to me that night.”

Meanwhile, Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn, who co-promoted Haney for the fight against Garcia, said the situation had left his fighter “furious”.

“I spoke to Devin last night, in his mind he’s absolutely furious,” the Matchroom chief told The Stomping Ground.

“The guy came in three-and-a-half pound overweight and had performance-enhancing drugs in his system. He will want the contest to be an immediate no-contest [and] for that to be scrubbed off the card.

“Regardless of Ryan’s innocence or guilt in this situation, he had performance-enhancing drugs in his system when he fought Devin Haney – and he came in three-and-a-half pounds over.

“If you’re Devin Haney right now you’re thinking, ‘F*** me, I’ve been screwed.”

Garcia has 10 days to request his B-sample to be tested for the same substance.

After days of speculation, Adrian Newey has finally sealed his fate. The 65-year-old will leave Red Bull sometime after the first quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, he will cease to work on the RB20 with immediate effect and shift his focus completely to Red Bull’s hypercar project. But how much will the Austrian team suffer as a consequence of his absence? As per past records, a lot.

Karun Chandhok recently brought to light the dip in form suffered by the teams after Adrian Newey left them. The Sky F1 presenter cited the examples of Williams and McLaren to explain his point.

Ever since Newey’s exit, Williams has failed to win any world championship and is currently among the lower-rung teams. McLaren, on the other hand, has won just one world championship since Newey’s departure. They won the title back in 2008 when Lewis Hamilton won his first of seven championships.

Chandhok wrote, “Worth remembering that Williams went from championship dominance to not winning another title and Mclaren only won 1 more title after Adrian left….The sport has changed of course but fascinated to see the effect on RBR.”

Adrian Newey joined Williams in 1991 and spent six successful years with the team. During his time there, he worked with the best of talents, including Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, and Damon Hill. After bagging four constructors’ titles with the Oxfordshire-based team, the master aerodynamicist switched to McLaren.

During the nine-year-long stint with the Woking-based outfit, Newey helped them win one Constructors’ title. While it wasn’t as successful a stint as the one with Williams, the legendary Mika Hakkinen won both his championships under Newey.

Adrian Newey confident Red Bull won’t meet the same fate as his previous teams

Red Bull has won all its 13 Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships with the cars designed by Adrian Newey. The RB20, another one of his revolutionary designs, is on course to add two more to that tally. While his departure will make it difficult for the Milton Keynes outfit to carry forward that form, Newey is confident the team is in safe hands.

As per the official statement released by Red Bull, the Briton said, “It has been a real privilege, and I am confident that the engineering team are well prepared for the work going into the final evolution of the car under the four-year period of this regulation set.”

The ground-effect regulations will last another year until the new iteration begins in 2026. With a proven concept set in, and Max Verstappen at the helm of affairs, the Austrian outfit is certainly the favorite to win another two championships in 2025.

However, they might struggle to keep that run going into the new generation of regulations without Adrian Newey. Repercussions of his exit could further prove to be devastating if he joins the likes of Ferrari or Mercedes. Both have prior title-winning experience and with the addition of Newey, either team could become a force to reckon with.

Following a poor run of form since the start of 2024, Toto Wolff and Mercedes are ready to turn the tide in Miami. Well aware of the challenges that await them, Wolff recently revealed (as updated on X by @fiagirly) that his team will bring the first upgrades to their car in Miami. Wolff then further detailed what he expects from his team in the first American race of the season.

We will be looking to put in a stronger showing in Miami and optimise the car. We know we need to add more performance and will bring our first small upgrades of the season this weekend,” explained the Austrian.

Wolff then recalled the Chinese GP weekend and claimed that Mercedes did not perform at their best in Shanghai. They made too many set-up changes ahead of the qualifying session in Shanghai, putting them on the back foot. Nonetheless, the Austrian was appreciative of both his drivers, who did well to fetch some points.

Lewis Hamilton suffered more because of his various set-up changes over the weekend. Having secured an impressive P2 finish in the sprint session, he then suffered a major disappointment during the traditional qualifying session later in the day.

The 39-year-old was knocked out in Q1, securing only P18 as his starting position. However, he eventually clawed himself up to a points position with a P9 finish in China. Following the incidents, Mercedes will now bring their first upgrades of the season to Miami, with James Allison reflecting on what they learned from Shanghai.

James Allison points out Mercedes’ learnings from the Chinese GP weekend

James Allison reflected on how a track is the best place to learn things about a car despite having a factory full of workers and a load of computational power. Allison explained his learnings by highlighting the difference between the Shanghai track and the Miami circuit.

While the one in Shanghai is a front-limited track for cars, the Miami track is more rear-limiting. Hence, the team’s first challenge will be to ensure they don’t use the same setups for the cars they used in China in Miami.

The race in the American city will need a very different set-up from the race that took place in Shanghai. Alongside upgrades, Mercedes will also adjust their car for the sprint session in a way that allows them to understand the optimal setup for the main race.

With the upgrades, the Silver Arrows hope to address the underlying balance issues that have been causing them difficulty. In terms of numbers, Mercedes and Allison hope to gain a few hundredths over their opposition.

Although Max Verstappen was born in Hasselt, Belgium; he identifies himself as a proud Dutchman. However, Belgian soccer star Kevin de Bruyne has chosen to shun Verstappen’s Dutch identity and claimed that the 26-year-old is “basically Belgian“.

In a video put up by Manchester City, De Bruyne can be seen having a chat with Manchester City teammate Bernardo Silva. When asked who he would ask to accompany him to an F1 race weekend, De Bruyne replied, “Probably Nathan (Ake) because we watch F1 together“.

Silva then added that he knows several people are following Max Verstappen. On hearing the same, De Bruyne immediately replied, “He’s half Belgian“. Since Silva was shocked and seemed bemused by the 32-year-old’s reply, the Belgian midfielder clarified his remark.

De Bruyne said, “He’s born in Belgium and his mum is Belgian. So, he’s basically Belgian. I want to claim him“. Silva immediately laughed on hearing De Bruyne’s witty reply and said, “So, you want the world champion from your country“?

Verstappen was not only born in Belgium but also spent a significant part of his childhood in the country. However, since he always had a greater connection with the Dutch people, he often travelled to the Netherlands even when he stayed in Belgium. As a result, he decided to opt for a Dutch driver’s license instead of a Belgian one.

Since Verstappen has now gone on to win three world championships, it comes as no surprise why De Bruyne is making his best attempt to claim that the 26-year-old is Belgian. The Manchester City star is a huge fan of Verstappen and also met the Dutchman once in the Red Bull garage.

Kevin de Bruyne and Max Verstappen exchanged t-shirts

Both De Bruyne and Max Verstappen seem to be huge fans of each other’s sports. While De Bruyne supports Verstappen, the Red Bull driver supports Dutch soccer club PSV Eindhoven.

Since De Bruyne enjoys watching Verstappen compete, he also decided to attend the 2022 Belgian GP. During the race weekend, the 32-year-old received a tour of the Red Bull garage.

That is when De Bruyne and Verstappen also exchanged t-shirts. De Bruyne gave the Dutchman his Manchester City shirt, while the 26-year-old gave the Belgian midfielder a Red Bull t-shirt.

Since De Bruyne was a guest of Red Bull for the 2022 Belgian GP weekend, Martin Brundle also suggested that Christian Horner would have no concerns if he were to try one of their cars. Horner, who was present in the vicinity, gave a cheeky reply as he said, “Only if he plays for Coventry City“.

As Canelo Alvarez faces Jaime Munguia in thrilling bout, why does Mexico keep churning out so many exciting champs?

PUTTING two menacing Mexicans in the same ring is as dangerous as lighting the touch-paper to a stick of gelignite – an almighty explosion is the only outcome.

Canelo Alvarez, worshipped God-like in Guadalajara, defends his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO world super-middleweight titles against fellow-countryman Jaime Munguia on Saturday.

Mexico is famous for many reasons – among them its indigenous heritage, Tequila, Mariachi bands and tacos.

But discerning boxing fans fall in love with the country because it constantly produces elite world champions whose outstanding talents hold them in awe.

Lace a pair of gloves on men south of the border and they fight with such a fierce intensity it’s as if they all have the blood of the nations revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata coursing through their veins.

Those lucky enough to have been ringside to see the heart-stopping trilogy between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales, two featherweights who fought each other to a standstill more than 20 years ago will die happy.

Rafael Herrara against Ruben Olivares and Carlos Zarate’s four-round blitz of Alfonso Zamora, though they took place more than 50 years ago, are still talked about when the margaritas start being poured in the barrios.

If Canelo’s battle with Maguia is only half as exciting as those epics, the 20,000 in Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena, will get their money’s worth.

So why does Mexico keep churning out so many exciting world champions?

The simple answer is extreme urban poverty.

When I covered my first fight in Mexico City in 1967, wherever I went there were bare-fisted kids sparring with each other in the streets.

Artur Hernandez, one of Mexico’s most successful managers, employed six full-time trainers at his downtown gym.
UFC star Jorge Masvidal reveals $5m payday for fight – but boxing champs earned five times despite half the PPV sales
He told me, when they opened the doors every morning, there were dozens of youngsters with their sneakers wrapped in newspaper pleading for an opportunity to spar with the pros to earn a few pesos – no better breeding ground for future greats.

I have been blessed with having seen Latino legends Barrera, Olivares, Vicente Saldivar, Julio Cesar Chavez and Salvador Sanchez – tragically killed at 23 when he crashed his Porsche – in the flesh.

Alvarez’s record is mind-boggling – he’s won world titles from light-middleweight to light-heavyweight, has lost just two of his 64 contests and has unified three divisions.

So he more than deserves to be included in such exalted company.

Canelo, 33, has KO’d 39 of his opponents, several with a Mexican speciality they call El Gancho Al Higado – a liver punch.

Liam Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and Callum Smith, three of the eight  British fighters who have tangled with him, will verify how much that blow hurts.

It isn’t surprising he’s a massive 1/6 to beat Munguia, but in several of his recent victories he appeared to be slowing down and is certainly less fearsome than when he was in his 20s.

Alvarez’s last four fights have gone the full twelve rounds and he hasn’t knocked out anyone for three years which must give Munguia a confidence boost.

Canelo for years has been considered pound-for-pound the best fighter on the planet – but according to some pundits has dropped down the pecking order behind Terence Crawford and Japan’s Naoya Inoue.

Munguia, 27, a former WBO light-middleweight champion has never met anyone in Alvarez’s but he is quite a handful – unbeaten after 43 fights, he’s scored 34 KO’s.

He never stops throwing punches from every angle and in his last fight he stopped Londoner John Ryder in nine rounds – something Alvarez couldn’t do when they met twelve months ago.

If jolting Jaime, a Tijuana terror, should overturn Alvarez it would a far greater sensation than Ryan Garcia putting unbeaten superstar Devin Haney on the deck three times before outpointing him two weeks ago.

Yet as unlikely as it seems, it could happen.

Traces of the SARM (selective androgen receptive modulator) – which can build lean muscle mass – were discovered in Garcia’s final pre-fight tests.

Garcia, 25, has denied intentionally ingesting the substance, the discovery of which will likely see his win overturned to a No Contest.

But that hasn’t stopped McGregor from seemingly ending their friendship by calling for him to never be allowed to box again.

In a now-deleted X post, the UFC superstar wrote: “Cheated the weight and was juiced, lifetime ban. Sad to see, sad to say. Sad and a bit sick.”

McGregor offered Garcia words of support after his defeat to Gervonta Davis last April but wants nothing more to do with ‘King’ following his positive tests.

He roared: “Don’t come near me if I see you ever Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted.”

The Notorious then lumped UFC men’s bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley into his rant as he’d also tested positive for Ostarine in 2018.

He added: “This Ostarine it reminds me of Sean O’Malley was on that as well.

Holding 1kg of gold and over 400 carats of diamonds the crown was made by Texas-based jeweller The Ice Champ.

Garcia’s gown was also made up of 15,000 diamonds and took 10 days to create.

WBC super-lightweight champ Haney believes Garcia “cheated and disrespected” the sport of boxing with his failed tests.

And the American’s efforts that fateful night in Brooklyn have garnered the full respect of McGregor.
