After falling down the pecking order by faltering in implementing the 2022 regulations, Mercedes is looking to make a comeback. The Brackley team is preparing itself to tackle the 2026 regulations. Team principal and CEO Toto Wolff has confidence in the team’s abilities to manufacture a competitive power unit. The Austrian boss wants to undo all the damage they’ve done in the current ground-effect era. However, with the optimism, there is also caution about fluffing their lines once again.

Speaking to the media including RacingNews365, Wolff said, “Well, this is the certain degree of confidence that I have in our abilities. We saw at HPP [Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains] in 2014, we got that right, but there’s no guarantee we’re going to get it right in ’26.”

Wolff believes the team is working on the right levels to produce a competitive engine. He also drew comparisons from their success after the 2014 regulation changes. The eight consecutive championships made Mercedes a force to be reckoned with.

Getting back to the same level of success is the aim, but as Wolff rightly pointed out, it’s not guaranteed. Additionally, the focus is shifted to 2026 now proving the team is more optimistic about 2026 and not 2025.

2014 changes was a “journey into the unknown” according to the billionaire boss. However, they came out on top then and 2026 offers a similar reset after the 2022 regulations. This is why the team back in Brackley is giving it their all and focusing on the future instead of the upcoming season.

The new engine regulations can help Mercedes end their current suffering. However, Ralf Schumacher believes getting the power unit right won’t solve all their problems.

Ralf Schumacher paints a concerning picture for Toto Wolff and Co. for the future

The power unit plays a big role in an F1 car’s performance, however, it’s not the only factor. Mercedes have other areas where they are lacking, according to Schumacher. In his conversation with Motorsport-Nextgen-Auto, the German highlighted that the Silver Arrows are struggling in the aerodynamics department.

He substantiated his argument with a simple example. “They have one of the best, if not the best, engines in Formula 1. And yet they are not capable of winning because there are problems in other areas such as aerodynamics. That’s why their customer teams like McLaren are currently beating them,” said Schumacher.

Adding to the argument, the former Williams driver also put Wolff to blame. Schumacher believes tackling these shortcomings falls under the team principal’s KRA. Apart from assuming responsibility for the team’s problem areas, Wolff also needs to make sure they are making progress.

This is exactly why Mercedes will bring upgrades to Miami. However, the Austrian himself did not sound confident about the upgrades putting little faith in the changes coming to the upcoming race weekend. It’s truly an era to forget for the Silver Arrows.

Lando Norris hasn’t been able to record a race win in his F1 career despite being on the grid since 2019. Even with such a grave record, the burden of going winless doesn’t weigh the Briton down. Speaking to The Athletic recently, the McLaren driver exuded confidence as he claimed his time was coming soon.

The #4 driver remains one of F1’s brightest prospects despite the anomaly in his stats. His resilience shines through his dedication to keep improving as Norris has his sights set on beating Max Verstappen. Hence, the British driver is certain a win is simply a matter of time.

“My time is coming. I’m chill about it. I’m happy.”, he said.

Norris not picking up any race wins has become a popular topic of discussion. He even appeared on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date, where the topic came up again. Norris joked that a perk of living in Monaco was that he could wake up a minute before getting into the car. In response, the hostess claimed perhaps that (laziness) caused the 24-year-old’s poor run.

A few missed opportunities along the way for Lando Norris

Over the last five years, Lando Norris has got podium finishes regularly. However, when it comes to race wins, the best Norris has been able to do was come agonizingly close to achieving them. The prime example of the same came in Qatar last year when he finished P3 behind Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.

Piastri won the Sprint race on the weekend from pole position, while Verstappen won the Grand Prix on the following day. In both cases, the Briton felt he should have won the race had he not made any mistakes.

In hindsight, making mistakes when it matters has become an unwelcome trend for Norris. Experts often compare his performances against someone like Verstappen. However, Norris defends himself as he believes the people who compare them have little idea of what they are talking about.

A YouTuber has sparked rage amongst F1 fans after he crashed the iconic McLaren Senna, worth $1.3 million while showing off. The incident happened on Ventura Boulevard in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles, California. The YouTuber, who has 191K subscribers, was performing a stunt when he lost control of the car and swerved into a Lexus dealership.

The incident began when the driver of the rare gem drove onto the street before doing a donut for the crowd. Speeding away after performing the stunt, the driver lost control, and as seen in the viral video, the aftermath is not pretty.

The front of the Senna is smashed into a wall, and the dealership’s exterior is heavily damaged. Some parts of the car lean against another car parked outside. The passenger side door was also damaged, with the front right tire pushed out.

It turns out that the owner of the collectible McLaren Senna is a YouTuber, Edmond “Mondi” Barseghian. As highlighted in Dexerto’s tweet, he posted on his Instagram raving about his latest purchase on 24 February. He also posted a video of taking delivery of what appears to be the same Senna Project Kilo 2. The YouTuber previously went viral for totaling his Hummer EV after driving it for nine miles.

Following his latest crash of the car named after the legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, the motorsport community shared their anguish toward the video spreading like wildfire.

The motorsport community express their grief toward the viral McLaren Senna crash

Mondi made car enthusiasts live their worst nightmares by totaling the limited edition cars. This is exactly why the entire community shared their disgust with the carelessness on the social media app. The fans expressed their irritation with luxury cars in the hands of the wrong people, according to them.

The fans were furious at the handling of the car and the overall relaxed behavior around the incident.

The fans couldn’t refrain from name-calling while communicating their feelings. One fan’s actions are a source of widespread heartache for all car enthusiasts.

Anthony Joshua predicts who will win Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight as 'phenomenal' claim made

Anthony Joshua has given his prediction ahead of the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

On May 18 the two champions will collide in Saudi Arabia for the first heavyweight boxing match of its kind this century.

The bout was initially scheduled to take place in February but Fury was forced to pull out after he sustained a cut in sparring.

Now it’s been rescheduled all eyes in the boxing world are fixed on it and the rematch which is set to take place later in the year no matter the outcome.

Fury will defend his WBC title with Usyk putting his WBA, WBO and IBF titles on the line.

The eventual winner could end up facing former champion Joshua later down the line and he’s given his say on who he thinks that could be.

“I’ve fought Usyk so I can only speak on what I’ve experienced with him – phenomenal fighter, I would say he’s gonna do a really good job,” AJ told TalkSport.

“I’ve never fought Fury, so I can’t speak on what it’s like to face him. Only speaking on what I know, I have to say Usyk will be victorious.”

Joshua’s two fights against Usyk went the distance but he ultimately lost both. His poor performance in the first bout drew criticism but he improve massively by the time they met again.

Given he’s fought Usyk before AJ would surely have a greater chance of beating the Ukrainian compared to Tyson Fury.

Fury v Joshua is a fight that everyone wants to see in the future so if the Gypsy King does become undisputed champion there will be big calls for it to happen in 2025.

There have been negotiations about a potential fight between the British pair before but nothing came of them.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk tipped to 'end in controversy' as bold prediction made

Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk has been tipped to ‘end in controversy’, according to a former world champion boxer.

Fury will defend his WBC belt as Usyk will put his WBA (super), IBF and WBO world titles on the line when they meet on May 18.

The Saudi Arabia showdown will crown an undisputed champion at heavyweight as Anthony Joshua, who could fight the winner, has made his prediction.

Johnny Nelson, who like Usyk held the WBO cruiserweight title during his career, has also given his prediction for the monstrous battle.

And he’s backed Fury vs. Usyk to ‘end in controversy’ after having a dream about next month’s undisputed clash.

“I had a dream and Tyson Fury was in this dream. I’m trying to understand what I saw. It was controversial and Tyson Fury was not happy,” he revealed.

“I don’t know if that meant Tyson Fury won controversially or Tyson lost controversially, but I know there is a controversial decision with this fight.

“Mark that down! Tyson was pi**sed off, I don’t know if he lost or won controversially. But there is going to be controversy!”

Nelson believes both Fury and Usyk can win by knockout as he highlighted the Brit’s height.

He also believes the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ could walk away from boxing if he loses to the Ukrainian.

“I think both men can win by knockout, without a doubt,” he added.

“Each heavyweight fight Usyk is having he’s getting more comfortable being in there with heavyweights.

“I know he had five heavyweight sparring partners, I spoke to three of them, and they said he got stronger as the rounds went on, and he manhandled all five of them.

“We’re thinking that Fury’s physicality is going to be a big problem for Usyk.

“But Tyson Fury’s physicality is his height, reach and speed, not the power. Speed leads to power – and both fighters can get knocked out.

“If Fury gets knocked out like Francis Ngannou did, he’ll chuck it in.

“His pride as a fighting man will make him internally combust, doesn’t matter what his PR people say, if that happens to him he’ll struggle to accept it.

“He said before he’d struggle to accept losing to a little cruiserweight.”

Mike Tyson reveals the two things he's given up in radical lifestyle change before Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson has made two huge changes to his lifestyle ahead of his return to the ring against Jake Paul.

‘Iron’ Mike is currently deep into his training camp as he prepares for a one-off return against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul which will take place on July 20 in Texas.

The last time Tyson entered the ring was against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020 while Paul’s most recent bout took place in March 2024 when he secured a TKO victory against Ryan Bourland.

Tyson is currently the underdog for the bout which will be streamed globally by Netflix meaning there is no pay-per-view fee.

Ahead of the bout, the 57-year-old has made some major lifestyle changes as he prepares to face his younger opponent.

Tyson revealed he has given up both sex and marijuana in the hopes of entering the ring in peak condition.

“I’m living my life disciplined now, so I’m fight disciplined now,” he told Forbes. “In probably six weeks, I haven’t gotten high or had sex. It’s just discipline, it’s doing what you hate to do but doing it like I love it.

“I hate not being able to not to smoke but I’m doing it like I love it.

“I hate not being able to sleep with my life but I’m doing it like I love it, because I want it I won’t do it.”

Tyson is a long-time advocate for cannabis but would fail a drug test if he smoked prior to his fight as it is a banned substance according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

In the past, Tyson revealed he went five years without sex as he believed it would make him a better boxer.

He told Graham Bensinger in 2018: “I’m an idiot, you know.

“I just went by what people told me. ‘This is what you’re supposed to do, girls are gonna mess up your boxing’.

“I entered this profession a total brainless individual, looking for glory because my self-esteem was so low.”

The rules for Paul vs Tyson have been confirmed.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight rules finally confirmed in major U-turn which could change everything

The much-anticipated bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on July 20 will officially be classified as a sanctioned, heavyweight professional fight, it has been confirmed.

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson is set to go toe-to-toe with YouTube personality Paul, who extended his professional record to 9-1 with a first-round victory over Ryan Bourland.

The card will also feature an undisputed super lightweight championship title fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano – a rematch of their 2022 contest.

The event will be streamed exclusively on Netflix on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas – home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

Since it was announced, it has been rumoured that Tyson’s fight with Paul would be an exhibition bout. Tyson initially claimed it would be a “real fight” under exhibition rules.

But Paul later stated that he hoped to get it fully licensed as professional.

Now, after much speculation, it has been confirmed that the fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves.

A report from ESPN also confirmed that the outcome will go down on their professional boxing records.

Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian confirmed the news in a statement.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome,” he told the publication.

“Over the past six weeks, MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) to sanction Paul vs. Tyson, and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point.”

Both Tyson and Paul have confirmed the news on social media.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Tyson said: “Yes it’s a real sanctioned fight with @jakepaul, while Paul wrote: “Mike Tyson wanted it to be a pro fight. Netflix wanted it to be a pro fight. So I agreed to make it a pro fight. Winner takes all.”

Speaking earlier this month, Tyson said he was treating his fight with Paul as professional, even if it wouldn’t be classed as such on official records.

“This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you won’t see any of the laws we’re fighting under,” he told Fox News.

“This is a fight. I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube video of him at 16 doing weird dancing.

“That’s not the guy I’m fighting. This is a guy who’s going to try and hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken.”

Paul, meanwhile, has predicted he will be “too fast” for the 57-year-old, who hasn’t competed as a professional since he was 38.

“I think he’s underestimating me, I truly, truly think that,” Paul said.

“It’s a heavyweight fight, he’s the bigger man but I’m the faster man. He’s the much stronger man but I’m fresh. He’s experienced. I’m smart but in the ring he may be smarter. It’s are really interesting match-up and people see the training videos and think he’s a beast.

“But I know I have what it takes to beat him. It’s an honour to be in the ring with him but I’m confident I’ll have my hand raised. It’s going to be tough, he’s going to be getting inside but I believe I have the faster feet and faster hands and I’m going to be finding the angles.”

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul odds: Clear favourite emerges after fight rules confirmed

The rules for Mike Tyson’s controversial fight with Jake Paul have finally been confirmed, and a clear favourite has emerged with the bookies following the announcement.

Tyson, 57, will return to the ring to face Paul, 27, on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in what will be the main event of a card that will air on Netflix.

There has been confusion over whether the fight would be sanctioned as a professional bout following mixed messages from the two fighters involved.

While Tyson initially claimed it will be a “real fight” under exhibition rules, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul later stated that he hoped for the bout to be contested as professional.

It has now been confirmed that the fight has been licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, despite the fact that Tyson will be 58 by the time of the event.

The heavyweight clash will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves.

The outcome will affect both of their professional boxing records.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome,” Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said in a statement.

“Over the past six weeks, MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) to sanction Paul vs. Tyson, and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point.”

Bookmakers have reacted to the announcement with fresh odds on the fight.

According to odds provided by oddschecker, Paul remains favourite to win despite the change of rules which seemingly favour Tyson.

He’s listed as favourite at 8/13, with former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson the underdog at 7/5.

Tyson has not fought since drawing with Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition match in 2020, while his last professional bout came back in 2005 against Kevin McBride, when he was stopped after six rounds.

His professional record stands at 50-6-0 (44 KO), while Paul holds a record of 9-1-0 (6 KO) – with his only defeat coming against Tommy Fury in February of last year.

Boxing fans have voiced their anger after Mike Tyson and Jake Paul had their fight rules announced.

YouTuber turned boxer Paul and former heavyweight champion Tyson have seen their July 20 bout classified as a sanctioned, professional fight by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves while the outcome will affect their professional boxing records.

Since the fight was announced it has caused much controversy, given a thirty-year age gap between Paul, 27 and Tyson, 57.

In particular, fans were quick to criticise their Texas boxing commission’s decision.

One person, writing on X, said: “Terrible look for the Texas boxing commission.” Another added: “This is actually sad.”

In a similar vein, a third said: “Absolute disgrace from Texas Commission.” A fourth person added: “Good chance it will be embarrassing.”

Meanwhile, upon the announcement of the news, Tyson emphatically said: “Yes it’s a real sanctioned fight with Jake Paul.”

Tyson hasn’t won a professional boxing match since a knockout win over Clifford Etienne in February 2003. He has since been stopped by Danny Williams in 2004 and Kevin McBride in 2005.

Meanwhile, the 31-year age gap will be the biggest in the history of professional boxing, eclipsing the 24-year gap between Archie Moore (49) and Mike DiBiase (25) when they met in 1963.

The blockbuster clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is set to break a 61-year boxing record.

Paul will welcome Tyson back to the ring when they meet on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The heavyweight contest will be a sanctioned, professional fight by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) in a major U-turn.

The former world heavyweight champion hasn’t had a pro bout since June 2005 when he suffered a crushing defeat to Ireland’s Kevin McBribe.

But he can lean on the experience of having over 50 pro fights during his legendary boxing career.

As for Paul, he has 10 pro fights to his name, boasting a record of 9-1.

And by the time Tyson faces Paul, he will be 58 while ‘The Problem Child’ will be 27.

That 31-year age gap will be the biggest in the history of professional boxing, surpassing the 24-year age gap between Archie Moore, 49, and Mike DiBiase, 25, when they fought in 1963, according to ESPN.
