The fight rules for Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul have been announced.

UFC legend names the exact round Mike Tyson could 'lose' fight with Jake Paul

UFC legend Michael Bisping has sent Mike Tyson a warning over his upcoming clash with Jake Paul after the rules for the Netflix mega-fight were confirmed.

Tyson, 57, will return to the ring to face Paul, 27, on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in what will be a fully professional bout.

While it was initially expected to be an exhibition, a shock announcement earlier this week confirmed the heavyweight fight would be judged under professional rules.

The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves, with the outcome affecting both of their professional boxing records.

The decision by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to sanction the fight is a controversial one, given the huge age difference between the two fighters and the fact Tyson will be 58 by the time of the event.

Former UFC champion Bisping has criticised Paul for accepting the fight and says Tyson must win with an early stoppage, believing he is likely to lose if the bout reaches the fourth round.

“If Jake Paul loses, listen, it’s Mike Tyson, but still, come on,” Bisping said on his Believe You Me podcast.

“He’s 58-years-old but stop it [if you lose] never show your face again. Then if Jake Paul knocks out a 58-year-old man that’s called elderly abuse. You can’t win here. Other than a lot of money.

“It’s only two minutes but if you’ve never boxed or fought you underestimate how long two minutes is.

    Image

“Mike Tyson, yeah he’s 58 and the rounds are only two minutes long, I think he’s still going to get tired after three rounds.

“That said Jake Paul leaves tremendously massive openings and he’s never fought anyone like Mike Tyson. He went the distance with Nate Diaz, he beat Nate Diaz and I’m not s***ing on him because he’s great, a cult icon.”

Tyson and Paul are set to break a long-standing boxing record when they finally meet in the ring.

That 31-year age gap will be the biggest in the history of professional boxing, surpassing the 24-year age gap between Archie Moore, 49, and Mike DiBiase, 25, when they fought in 1963.

The former multiple featherweight world champion has discussed a potential comeback.

Prince Naseem Hamed teases boxing return and says he will fight Jake Paul on one condition

Prince Naseem Hamed has teased a surprise return to the ring by admitting he would consider a comeback fight against Jake Paul.

The former WBO, IBF and WBC champion, who last fought in May 2002 – when he defeated Manuel Calvo at the London Arena – is renowned for being outspoken.

And earlier this week, the 50-year-old opened up on a number of subjects, including the current state of boxing, in a wide-ranging interview with talkSPORT.

“My sport has gone backwards,” he said. “We haven’t gone forwards. It just seems that boxing has taken a step back. The viewing figures for MMA are crushing boxing. Why? Because it’s explosive. There’s knockouts and there’s crazy stuff happening.”

As well as giving his not-so-subtle thoughts on the state of boxing, Hamed was asked if he would fight Jake Paul if the YouTube personality offered him £20 million.

Paul will face former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in a professional bou on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington – a bout that will streamed live on Netflix.

He said: “Jake Paul? Jake Paul doesn’t mean anything to me. £20m, what is £20m? £20m, £100m, £200m doesn’t change my lifestyle. I am a man that gets on his hands and knees and puts his head on the floor five times a day. I’m humble. It ain’t about that.”

Hamed did, however, admit that he would “think about it” if the prize pot went to a country or charity of his choice.

“You need to understand something, fighting for a country for somebody to do well, for somebody to raise money, an obscene amount of money, then I could think about that,” he added.

“And I could get out of bed and do some serious training and get fit and maybe do it. For that, yes.”

Asked if he would come out of retirement, Hamed didn’t say no to the prospect.

“Stranger things have happened,” he continued. “I set my legacy in an amazing way in this boxing world and took it to the dizzy heights of boxing. It’s hard for anybody to reach that kind of level. But I’m from, a country that’s not well off.

“My parents are from a country, Yemen, and I would fight for that country to contribute to them in charitable ways. And the same for Palestine. We stand for Palestine, man.

“As a father now, it hits my heart, what’s happening in the Middle East, what’s happened in Palestine and what’s happening in Yemen, and the poverty.

“That’s the only time that really deep down in my heart I’d want to fight, to do something on that basis [to raise money].”

He added: “So I’d love to go into training and, you never know, if we could do like me, and my three sons all on one card in the Middle East, that would be one of my dreams.”

  • The time Mike Tyson ‘almost beat up’ Michael Jordan at party in 1988

The time Mike Tyson ‘almost beat up’ Michael Jordan at party in 1988

Mike Tyson and Michael Jordan, two of the biggest names in sports, reportedly nearly got into it many years ago.

The time Mike Tyson 'almost beat up' Michael Jordan at party in 1988

A story has surfaced about how Mike Tyson and Michael Jordan were out for dinner together 32 years ago – and the then heavyweight champ came close to attacking the NBA icon.

In 1988, the two Mikes were in Chicago at the birthday party of top NFL player Richard Dent. Promoter Don King and Tyson’s co-manager Rory Holloway were also guests – and the latter shared the tale of Iron Mike confronting Jordan in his book Taming the Beast: The Untold Story of Team Tyson.

The boxer was unbeaten and at the peak of his powers in ’88 but his marriage to actress Robin Givens was rapidly falling apart and heading for a bitter, costly divorce.

Rising Chicago Bulls superstar Jordan had dated Givens before Tyson was on the scene and this – combined with the boxer’s plentiful supply of cocktails – reportedly caused a confrontation.

As Holloway tells it: “Tyson’s sitting there with his drink of choice, a Long Island Tea, and when he drinks his real feelings come out.

“I’m telling the server to water his drinks down ’cause I see where this is going. Mike stares across the table at Michael Jordan. He says, ‘Hey man, you think I’m stupid? I know you f**ked with my bitch.

“Jordan looks like he just seen a ghost. ‘I know you messed with her,’ Mike says. ‘You can tell me.’”

    Image: Getty
    Image: Getty

Rather understandably, MJ declined to tell Iron Mike anything of the sort and apparently looked as though he wished he could be sucked down a golf hole and into another universe.

Hollyway added: “It was a circus, for real, that night. Don King trying to change the subject. Me and John [Horne, Tyson’s other co-manager] trying to hold Mike down. Mike telling everyone he’s going to bust Jordan’s ass. Jordan’s dressed sharp as always and he can’t get out of there fast enough.”

It’s an outlandish tale – and Tyson in 1988 had enough pent-up rage to make anything possible. But then Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka, also present at the meal, gave a tamer version of the story to the Chicago Tribune in 2015.

“It’s silly,” said Ditka. “Michael Jordan is not going to get into an altercation with anyone. He’s a class guy. First of all, the stupidest thing in the world is alcohol.

“When you drink, you get that mouth running sometimes. That’s probably what happened.”

Meanwhile birthday boy Dent acknowledged that Tyson had brought up Givens at the meal – and that words were exchanged – but played down the confrontation.

    Image: Getty
    Image: Getty

“It was a little get-together after Michael Jordan’s game,” Dent told the Tribune. “After the game, we had a little get-together at a restaurant. That was about it… [Tyson] said some things to Mike. I don’t recall anything of that nature. I never saw [Jordan] look scared.”

Well, perhaps high-stakes gambler Jordan just had a superb poker face. Because no matter how he approached the subject, if a 1988-era Mike Tyson brought up the topic of us previously dating his wife, we’d have run for the hills.

Maybe His Airness styled it out, though Holloway defended his take in the book, stating: “I know I’m not crazy, you don’t forget stuff like that.”

Whatever really happened, the two biggest stars in US sport at that time sharing dinner together must’ve been something to behold.

Mike Tyson sends terrifying six-word message to Jake Paul after posting fresh training footage

Mike Tyson has sent another stark warning to Jake Paul after posting fresh footage from his training camp ahead of their fight.

Tyson, 57, will return to the ring to face Paul, 27, on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in what will be the main event of a card that will air on Netflix.

While it was initially expected to be an exhibition, an announcement earlier this month confirmed the heavyweight fight would be judged under professional rules.

The decision by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to sanction the fight is a controversial one, given the age difference between the two fighters.

Tyson insists he will be in top physical condition for the fight, branding critics of the bout “jealous” of him and Paul.

He has posted numerous clips of his training camp ahead of the fight in an effort to convince his doubters he is able to take on the ‘Problem Child’ over eight, two-minute rounds.

Tyson took to X on Wednesday to post fresh footage of him hitting the pads with ferocious power, alongside the caption: “Ready or not here I come.”

Fans of Tyson were quick to comment on the video, showing their support for the former undisputed heavyweight champion.

“He ain’t ready, Big Mike,” wrote one fan.

Another added: “57 years old and the power in that punch looks unreal!”

However, other boxing fans were more sceptical of the footage.

“There’s a reason this is just 6 seconds long,” posted one fan.

Another added: “Better get him in 3 rounds or less.”

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping recently criticised Paul for accepting the fight against the much older man.

Mike Tyson has been tipped to join an exclusive club with only four members thanks to his upcoming fight with Jake Paul.

On July 20, Tyson will come out of retirement and take on Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The fight is set to be streamed on the popular platform, Netflix, who wrote on social media: “It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss. Airing live on Netflix Saturday, July 20 #PaulTyson.”

Last month, it was confirmed that the fight would officially be classified as a sanctioned, heavyweight professional fight despite Tyson claiming it would be an exhibition.

Ahead of his bout with Paul, Tyson has been tipped to become a billionaire in a few years, due to his cannabis business and increased popularity after the fight.

According to research conducted by CBD brand Spruce and opinions from industry experts, Tyson could become the heavyweight champion of the celebrity cannabis business world, and a billionaire within three years.

In 2023, Iron Mike’s cannabis company tripled revenues to over $160 million and his worldwide Google search popularity has gone up by more than 500% since his fight announcement.

If Tyson does become a billionaire, he would only be the fifth sportsperson to reach the landmark after Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.

Ahead of the fight, Tyson said: “I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances, that’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting.

“This guy’s gonna come, he’s gonna try and hurt me which I’m accustomed to and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken.”

He added: “Right now, I’m scared to death but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality, I’m invincible.”

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul tickets are already going for astronomical price ahead of official release date

Tickets for the blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson won’t come cheap ahead of the official release date.

Paul vs. Tyson is set for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The now-professional bout will be aired on Netflix as a clear favourite has emerged following the contest being sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

Up to 80,000 spectators are expected to fill the stadium which is home to the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL.

The heavyweight clash is set to earn a massive gate revenue based on the prices of the tickets.

Gametime, an app/site for last minute tickets, has released ticket details for Paul vs. Tyson.

The lowest priced tickets are available for $575 (including taxes and fees) while ringside seats are available for a whopping $8,067.

Fans who have signed up for the presale will get access to tickets on May 14 while the general sale is set for May 16.

On StubHub, ticket prices range from $323 to $2,184.

In a statement, StubHub said: “You may see a ticket listed on StubHub before an event’s pre-sale or on-sale date.

“This is because tickets are distributed across venues, sponsors, key players and individuals involved with the event, who know they have tickets and can’t always use them.

“It’s important to note there is no incentive for a seller to post a ticket on StubHub they can’t deliver. As part of our seller policies, we prohibit sellers from listing a ticket they can’t provide.”

A huge crowd is expected for Paul vs. Tyson despite the fight being maligned by fans and critics alike.

It will be the boxing legend’s first appearance in a ring since his exhibition against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.

As for ‘The Problem Child’, he last fought in March when he stopped Ryan Bourland.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul promoters offer ‘never-before-seen’ $2m VIP ticket which has insane perks

It is now little over two months to go until legendary fighter Mike Tyson comes out of retirement to take on Jake Paul – and details of a remarkable $2m VIP ticket package have emerged.

The bout will take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in a fight which has divided opinion owing to the 30-year age gap between Tyson and Paul.

Tyson is a legendary figure in the sport, having 50 wins from 58 fights under his belt, two no-contests and only six losses in a career which spanned two decades.

Iron Mike’s last professional fight came against Kevin McBridge in 2005, but was stopped within two rounds.

Paul meanwhile is in the infancy of his professional boxing career, with the 27-year-old boasting nine wins in 10 fights so far and only one solitary defeat, which came at the hands of Tommy Fury last year.

All eyes are now on the bout in mid-July, with both fighters preparing for the encounter.

With many high-profile boxing bouts, ticket prices can run very high indeed and often the most expensive are picked up by the super rich, with celebrities often spotted ringside.

And now details of a ‘never-before-seen’ VIP ticket package have emerged, with quite a few perks on offer for those fortunate enough to be able to afford it.

The package includes two unique ringside apron seats, eight ringside floor seats, four of which are in the first row and four more in the second row, allowing 10 people tickets for the fight.

As well as this, the party will be granted an exclusive arrival experience at the AT&T Stadium, as well as security and escort throughout fight night, and a private green room.

Food and drink is covered with a top-shelf open bar and an all-inclusive menu.

In terms of experiences on the night, pre-fight dressing room photos with both Paul and Tyson and gloves signed by both fighters are on offer, plus a post-fight chance to have photos in the ring.

A two-night luxury stay at a fight hotel is included, while events during fight week are also covered, with front-row seats to all events and a private mini-coach, plus a place on stage during the weigh-in.

So if you and your mates can scrape together $2m between yourselves, this could all be yours.

    Jake Paul’s manager has spoken.

Jake Paul's manager calls out 'haters' as he denies major rule change to Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul’s manager has taken aim at ‘haters’ and rubbished claims surrounding a major rule change for his client’s upcoming fight against Mike Tyson.

Paul will take on heavyweight boxing legend Tyson in Arlington, Texas on July 20.

The bout will be part of the first-ever live boxing card shown by streaming giants Netflix, with the show set to be available for free for existing subscribers to the platform.

There are reports that the bout’s organisers are hoping to have the bout sanctioned by the Texas boxing commission, which would allow it to be a professional fight.

But there was mass interest surrounding a claim made by heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora last week, shortly after the Paul vs Tyson fight was announced.

The 40-year-old claimed that the bout would effectively be a sparring contest, with both fighters wearing headguards and 18oz gloves.

But MMA reporter Ariel Helwani later reported that, according to his sources, there would be no headgear involved.

And Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions, also strongly rebuffed Chisora’s claims – and aimed a guarded insult.

Taking to Instagram, Bidarian wrote (via Daily Mirror): “Unequivocally there is no headgear for Paul vs Tyson.

“Haters spreading fake news but it won’t stop the 10’s of millions of views.”

The fight is being billed as potentially being the ‘most-watched boxing event’ in modern boxing, with Bidarian stating in a press release once the bout was confirmed: “Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is a once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup and I anticipate it will be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history.”

Since his retirement from professional boxing in 2005 after a sixth-round defeat to American fighter Kevin McBride, 57-year-old Tyson has only stepped into the ring once, taking on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout in November 2020.

Paul, meanwhile, has a professional boxing record of 9-1, and knocked out Ryan Bourland in the first round of his most recent fight on March 2.

His only loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury, who defeated ‘The Problem Child’ via split decision in Saudi Arabia in February. Fury has only fought once since, beating KSI by unanimous decision in October.
