Mike Tyson Revealed He Would Love To Fight Floyd Mayweather And Admires Mayweather’s Boxing Skills

Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champion known for his ferocious style in the ring, recently made headlines by expressing his desire to step back into the boxing world to face none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr. While Tyson has retired from professional boxing, his admiration for Mayweather’s exceptional boxing skills has reignited his interest in a potential matchup.

In a recent interview, Tyson revealed his fascination with Floyd Mayweather’s boxing abilities, describing him as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Tyson’s admiration for Mayweather stems from the latter’s technical prowess, defensive mastery, and his ability to adapt to different opponents and styles throughout his career.

“Mayweather is a true technician,” Tyson stated. “His defensive skills are unparalleled, and he’s proven time and time again that he can outsmart and outbox his opponents. It’s incredible to watch someone at that level.”

While Tyson’s career was marked by explosive knockout power and a fearsome persona, Mayweather’s approach has been defined by his defensive genius and strategic boxing IQ. The clash of styles and generations between the two fighters would undoubtedly create significant buzz in the world of boxing.

Tyson’s interest in facing Mayweather has sparked debates and discussions among boxing enthusiasts and experts. Many believe that Tyson’s raw power and aggressive style could pose a unique challenge to Mayweather, who has typically faced opponents with a different set of strengths. Others argue that Mayweather’s ring intelligence and tactical finesse would give him the upper hand in such a matchup.

Despite the intrigue surrounding the potential bout, it’s important to note that Tyson and Mayweather are in different weight classes. Tyson, as a former heavyweight champion, would have a significant weight advantage over Mayweather, who primarily competed in the lower weight divisions. Tyson’s willingness to face Mayweather highlights the enduring appeal of the sport of boxing and its ability to capture the imagination of fans, even long after a fighter’s retirement. While it remains to be seen whether this dream matchup will ever come to fruition, one thing is clear: the passion and admiration for the sport continue to burn brightly in the hearts of boxing legends like Mike Tyson.

Mike Tyson reveals what happened during his one and only fight in prison

Boxing legend Mike Tyson has revealed what happened during the one occasion he fought someone while in prison.

Tyson, who became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world at the age of just 20, was sentenced to six years in prison and four years on probation for rape in 1992, although served just three years.

Reflecting on his time in prison while speaking on the The Pivot podcast, Tyson said: “I’m just very grateful – I’m a cool guy, I’m a good person, I treated everybody nice.

“I had the best three years of my life in prison.”

After his release, Tyson engaged in several comeback fights where he would go on to regain the WBA and WBC titles in 1996.

Tyson, also known as ‘Iron Mike’, would then retire in 2005 and has since swapped the boxing ring for the cannabis industry, as well as podcasting.

A career change which has led to him opening up on his time behind bars, as he recalls the only incident where he fought someone while incarcerated.

“I treated anybody the way I wanted them to treat me. And that’s just how it was. They weren’t scared of me. It all came down to respect,” he said on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson

“Just one time [I had to punch someone]. Somebody said something and I just went over there and hit him.

“We were locked down for a long time and it was just something that was irritable and I went over there and hit him. We were locked down and couldn’t go to the gym.

“Somebody got stabbed or something and we were locked down. I was just upset and miserable.”

Tyson recently returned to the ring back in 2020, after taking on Roy Jones Jr. in an eight round exhibition fight which controversially ended in a draw.

  • Deontay Wilder Boasts About Beating Young Mike Tyson, But Iron Mike’s Response Is Pure Class

Deontay Wilder Boasts About Beating Young Mike Tyson, But Iron Mike’s Response Is Pure Class

Mike Tyson gave a typically humble response after Deontay Wilder boldly claimed he would “kick the hell” out of a prime version of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.

Wilder, who recently slumped to a unanimous decision against Joseph Parker after surviving a barrage of overhand rights and left hooks, previously bragged about the idea of beating a younger ‘Iron’ Mike.

Back in 2018, when TMZ specifically asked then-WBC heavyweight champion Wilder if he would stand a chance against Tyson, he responded: “Yes.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ then went on to claim that he fears no heavyweight, past or present. “Me vs Tyson in ’86, I’d kick the hell outta that guy,” he said without hesitation.

“Listen, I’ve got to keep it real. I know people always go back to the old school or look at the new school and there’s no school where I’m not No 1 on Earth.”

Two years later and Tyson responded to Wilder’s bold claim. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said he was unsure if the Alabama-born fighter would have beaten him but admired the 38-year-old’s confidence.

“I don’t know [whether I’d beat him],” he said. “I love the fact that he thinks that, because that’s the way I would think as well.

“He’s supposed to think that way, he is the heavyweight champion of the world and that’s something very special.”

Tyson certainly remained humble in front of the BT cameras but back in 2018, he was once again asked if Wilder could have beaten him in a fight. “I don’t think so,” he replied.

Former British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis was far more vocal in his response to Deontay Wilder’s comments.

“I just heard Deontay Wilder said he would destroy a young Mike Tyson,” he said.

“My thoughts are that it’s easy to talk until you actually get in the ring. I like Wilder but he’s never been in there with someone that ferocious who truly wants to break his ribs with every punch. I don’t see it.

“I love Wilder’s confidence… you need that to sit atop the heavyweight division… he’s hungry and shows up in probably best shape in division… but there’s levels to it… and he’s still adding to his arsenal.

“My best advice to the entire crop of young heavyweight champs is to focus on being the best of YOUR era! Out of respect and reality. It’s unprovable. Of course people asked, but I found no need to speculate or compare myself to my idol Ali or any other of the past greats.”

Lewis added: “History will decide your place among the all time greats… so go out there, clean up the division, defend your title, reign supreme and your work will speak for itself.”

  • Logan Paul Reckons He Could Easily Beat Mike Tyson In A Boxing Match

Logan Paul Reckons He Could Easily Beat Mike Tyson In A Boxing Match

Logan Paul genuinely thinks he could beat boxing royalty Mike Tyson if the two were to face off inside the ring.

The YouTuber is fresh off the back of his record-breaking bout against boxing great Floyd Mayweather, a spectacle that turned over an insane amount of money and did a million pay-per-view buys.

Granted, no winner was officially declared on the night, but Logan clearly gained a lot of confidence from surviving all eight rounds against 44-year-old Mayweather.

And his belief is so sky high that he now wants a piece of arguably the scariest boxer to ever walk the face of the earth.

“Someone mentioned Mike Tyson, like how funny is it? One great at a time. Or is it like you can only fight one?” Logan said on his Impaulsive podcast.

“My lawyer mentioned it and he was like, ‘No, Tyson will rip your head off, you don’t stand a chance’.

“I’m like ‘bro, I literally just went through all of this, you can’t tell me I can’t beat Mike Tyson’. Bro, he’s old, old.”

Former multiple-time heavyweight world champion Tyson only recently made his long-awaited boxing comeback.

Iron Mike’s second coming was against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr in December 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The exhibition bout ended as a draw, but 54-year-old Tyson left the arena in search of more blood after an impressive performance where us fans saw glimpses of his younger self.

Speaking after his return tale, he even admitted he was ready to do battle again as early as 2021.

Well, now could be his chance – and you can probably imagine he’ll make light work of a far-smaller YouTuber by the name of Logan.

It appears Logan and Iron Mike are pretty close pals too, so getting a fight signed, sealed and delivered shouldn’t be too much hassle in the eyes of the promoters.

I mean, if both of them want it to happen then surely it’s doable – right?

After initially predicting that Mayweather would knock Logan out in their bout, Tyson FaceTimed his friend to admit he was wrong before sending his congratulations.

“You kicked his ass. You’re bad, I was wrong,” Tyson told Logan.

“I’m proud of you, you kicked ass, I’m proud of you. Everybody’s talking about you, you’re the man.

“You went eight rounds with the greatest of all time, I was telling people they don’t want to try that s**t. You got him with those punches.”

You know the world (especially boxing) has gone mad when we’re talking about a 54-year-old Mike Tyson potentially facing off against a YouTuber who’s half his age.

But what’s frustrating for us all is that it’s hard to deny that you wouldn’t pay decent money to see it.

    No, definitely not Logan.

Getting to witness Iron Mike bob and weave under the bright lights is what we’re really talking about – we couldn’t care less who he’s fighting.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul could be cancelled at late notice in nightmare scenario for Netflix

Mike Tyson’s much-anticipated bout with Jake Paul could be cancelled last minute in what would be a nightmare scenario for Netflix.

On July 20, Tyson will come out of retirement and take on Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The fight is set to be streamed on the popular platform, Netflix, who wrote on social media: “It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss. Airing live on Netflix Saturday, July 20 #PaulTyson.”

However, it has been recently reported that the fight could be plunged into doubt at late notice.

It has been said that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations will conduct a series of unusual tests that, if ‘Iron Mike’ fails, could result in the fight being cancelled.

Speaking to USA Today Sports, TDLR communications manager Tela Mange explained that fighters over the age of 36 must submit favourable results from an electroencephalogram (EEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG). An EEG is used to evaluate brain disorders whilst an EKG is used to detect heart problems.

Mange said: “We can also request additional testing if we think it’s appropriate.”

Earlier in the month, Tyson confirmed that the fight will be classed as an exhibition.

He said: “This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we are fighting under, this is a fight.

“I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances, that’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting.”

Tyson added: “This guy’s gonna come, he’s gonna try and hurt me which I’m accustomed to and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken.

“Right now, I’m scared to death but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality, I’m invincible.”
