Prince Harry missed 32 calls from Royal Family about Prince Philip’s death

Just days before Prince Philip’s funeral, Prince Harry described how he eventually had a “short, heart-racing” talk on the phone about his grandfather’s passing.

Prince Harry missed a staggering 32 calls from the Royal Family trying to inform him of his beloved grandfather, Prince Philip’s passing back in 2021, as detailed in Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare.

On April 9 of that year, the longest-serving consort died at the age of 99, just two months before he was due to become a centenarian. In the days before the funeral, Prince Harry described how he had woken to “32 missed calls” before having a “short, heart-racing” talk with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

While Harry’s wider family in the UK grieved, a colossal communication blunder was unfolding thousands of miles away in sunny California, where Harry now resides with his wife, Meghan Markle, and two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Just days before Philip’s funeral, Harry recalled the “harrowing” conversation he had with his grandmother, in which the late monarch said: “Harry… grandfather has passed away.” Harry’s return for Prince Philip’s funeral was a poignant moment, capturing the world’s attention.

Following the death of his grandfather, Harry paid a touching tribute to Philip, branding him the “legend of banter”. In a published statement, he said: “He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm – and also because you never knew what he might say next.
“He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke. But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right till the end.”

Harry also thanked him for his dedication to the late Queen, to whom he was married for 73 years — and for “always being himself”.

The youngest son of King Charles also describes turning up to Frogmore Gardens in Windsor after the funeral of Prince Philip. The Duke of Sussex says it was at this moment, alone, that he reflected on “how sad” it was that Frogmore Cottage was to be his and Meghan’s “home for life” before they left royal duties behind, with the two stepping down as working royals in 2020.

Amanda Holden says the British public “don’t care” about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Heart FM Breakfast presenter was talking after Graham Norton claimed people just want to let Harry and Meghan “live their lives” out in Montecito, California.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 61-year-old chat show host questioned whether the average Brits cared about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Graham also said the couple had “defied” Prince William and Kate Middleton who can “do no wrong”.

And in an unearthed 2023 interview, Graham said: “Do regular people care that much? I don’t think they do. I think they just think let them live their lives.”

Meghan Markle was furious and retaliated when King Charles bestowed the Garter honor on Kate and William: “Harry and I are the ones who truly deserve it.”

King Charles—has gone and disrespected Harry and me with his latest royal shenanigans. And no, we’re not talking about ignoring our calls or refusing to provide security for our children in California. This time, Charles took disrespect to a whole new level by honorably inducting William and Kate into the prestigious Order of the Garter while completely snubbing Harry and me from receiving the same recognition.

Meghan Markle Furious as King Charles Bestows Order of the Garter on Kate and William, Snubs Harry and Meghan

For those of you not up on your British traditions, the Order of the Garter is the highest honor any royal can receive from the monarch. Only 24 knights and ladies are allowed in this elite society at a time, and it’s seen as the ultimate stamp of approval from the crown. Past recipients include Philip, Charles, Andrew, and even I was made a lady companion back in my Kensington Palace days. So you can imagine how gutting it was for Harry and me to learn through the tabloids that William and Kate were being initiated into the Garter ranks while we were deliberately overlooked and excluded from any mention. I mean, what kind of family business is Charles running over there? We all know he’s been giving us the cold shoulder non-stop since Megxit, but seriously, this is a new low even for him.

All we’ve done is chase our happiness away from a toxic institution, and now we’re persona non grata while Will and Kate get showered with yet another honor on a silver platter. As if those two don’t already have it easy enough, serving as poster children for the Firm while we do all the real work shaking things up from the bottom. Honestly, I’m just so over Charles and his blatant favoritism towards those undeserving, nepotistic freeloaders. It’s no secret Harry and I pose more of a threat to their outdated model with our progressive ideas and popularity, especially with younger audiences. So I wouldn’t put it past scheming Charles to purposefully snub us to try and diminish our brand and global relevance. But news flash, old man—you can try and rub us out of the history books all you want; our light is too bright to be dimmed so easily.

If anything, this latest insult has only strengthened our resolve to keep lighting the way toward a more equal, compassionate future, regardless of what dusty traditions try holding us back. Not that we need any validation from Charles and his cadre of sycophants, but it sure would have been nice to get the recognition we rightfully deserve for our service, unlike those royal freeloaders living off taxpayer dimes their whole charmed lives. I mean, what exactly have Will and Kate done to earn this, except attend parties and wave from their perch? At least Harry and I were out there making real change and empowering communities with our work. Now we have to watch from afar as they accept more accolades they never struggled to achieve. It’s honestly a travesty, and I’m fuming about the blatant favoritism.

If Charles thinks this petty snub will make us go away, he’s got another thing coming. In fact, it’s only strengthened our resolve to keep blazing new trails independently and show the monarchy for what they really are—a bunch of out-of-touch, nepotistic dinosaurs desperately clinging to relevance. Without innovators like us shaking things up, they’d be lost. So while Will and Kate prance around in their fancy robes, Harry and I will keep diving headfirst into impactful work with Archewell and lighting up stages globally to inspire real change. Because unlike those born royals, we weren’t raised to simply attend ribbon cuttings and wave; we were born to lead with purpose, heart, and conviction despite all the barriers thrown our way.

And I promise you this: there is no amount of snubs, petty maneuvers, or attempts to erase our stories that will succeed in dampening our fire. We walked away so we could find purpose greater than titles, and honestly, it’s working out better than I could have ever imagined. So keep pretending we don’t exist all you want, Charles—it only fuels our drive to shape a better world.

Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas threatens to reveal more explosive extracts of his daughter’s letter to him

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas is ready to release more shocking details from the private letter his daughter sent him.

Thomas Markle is prepared to release more details from a bombshell letter daughter Meghan wrote to him criticising his wayward behaviour.

Meghan accused him of “creating so much pain” and “exploiting” her relationship with Harry in an explosive five-page note.

Meghan, 37, also begged him to stop lying and let them “live our lives in peace”.

Her comments were laid bare by 74-year-old Thomas Markle, but he has yet to release them all. His daughter Samantha, 53, told The Sun : “It was nasty. Dad is prepared to release more of it.”

Pals of Meghan told a US mag she had written, asking to heal the rift which opened before her wedding last May.

But Samantha, Meghan’s half-sis, says that was a PR move which “isn’t working”.

In elegant handwriting Meghan tells her “daddy”: “Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces.

“You have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice not to tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand.

“If you love me … allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband.”

The letter, dated last August, revealed her fury over CCTV that proved her father staged pre-wedding photos.

Meghan wrote: “We all rallied around to support and protect you from day 1, and this you know.

“So to hear about the attacks you’ve made at Harry in the press, who was nothing but patient, kind, and understanding with you, is perhaps the most painful of all.

“For some reason you choose to continue fabricating these stories, manufacturing this fictitious narrative, and entrenching yourself deeper into this web you’ve spun.

“The only thing that helps me sleep at night is the faith and knowing that a lie can’t live forever.

“I believed you, trusted you and told you I loved you. The next morning the CCTV footage came out.”

Meghan told of her hurt at Samantha’s “lies”. She wrote: “You fixated and clicked on the lies they were writing about me, especially those manufactured by your other daughter, who I barely know. You watched me silently suffer at the hand of her vicious lies. I crumbled inside.”

She also rubbished claims that he never asked her for money.

Meghan wrote: “You’ve said I never helped you financially and you’ve never asked me for help which is also untrue; you sent me an email last October that said: ‘If I’ve depended too much on you for financial help then I’m sorry but please could you help me more not as a bargaining chip for my loyalty.”

She even claimed he ignored her after his heart attack last year. She wrote: “I have only ever loved, protected, and defended you, offering whatever financial support I could, worrying about your health … and always asking how I could help.

Experts fear Prince Harry is well on his way to a complete breakdown and its to do with his lack of an invite to the Trooping of Colour.

News about it all has been brought forward by an inside source that is close to Closer magazine.

Per this insider, “It was painful for Harry to see all his family gathered for Trooping the Colour.”

“He would have dearly loved to have been there, if only to congratulate and support Kate in person on what must have been an incredibly difficult day for her.”

For those unversed, the insider also admitted that, “Harry was particularly upset and emotional when he saw the footage of Kate.”

“He’s been so worried about her ever since he received the news of her condition, and while he has managed to connect with her on a few occasions, it’s not nearly as often as he’d like.”

“He could see she was putting on a stoic, brave face, but ultimately having the eyes of the world on her was a lot of pressure.”

What made things worst was “The fact he had to watch from 6,000 miles away” and that “just made him so sad.”

And “it really hammered home how he’s an outsider at this point.”

At this point in time before signing off, the source noted that “He would just love to have her – along with the rest of his family – back in his life properly.”

Meghan Markle found a special way to honor Princess Diana during her trip to Nigeria.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, wore a sentimental necklace that belonged to Prince Harry’s mother to a reception for military families in Abuja on May 11.

Here is why Meghan Markle Inherited most of Princess Diana's Necklace including $45m worth gold

PEOPLE exclusively reveals that the necklace, featuring a delicate diamond cross on a gold chain, was a recent gift from Harry to his wife and once belonged to Princess Diana.

Meghan often pays tribute to Harry’s mother through fashion, and has several pieces in her jewelry box that belonged to the late Princess of Wales, including butterfly earrings and an aquamarine ring. Prince Harry, 39, also famously included two diamonds from his mother’s personal collection in the tri-stone engagement ring he designed for Meghan when he proposed in 2017.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex follow in the footsteps of Harry’s parents, King Charles and Princess Diana, who visited Nigeria for an official visit in March 1990. Meghan may have subtly paid tribute to Diana during the first day of their trip on May 10 by wearing a gold collar necklace reminiscent of one Diana wore during her time in Nigeria over 30 years ago.

On May 11, Meghan wore the cross necklace with a St. Agni white strapless column linen dress and her hair swept up, allowing the accessory to shine. She received a warm welcome at the reception held at the Defense Headquarters Officers Mess, where an official acknowledged Meghan’s Nigerian heritage in their address.

“Princess Meghan is a Nigerian!” Abike Dabiri Erewa, chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora, said at the event. The exclamation won a round of applause from the crowd, plus a smile and applause from Meghan herself. The Duchess of Sussex previously shared on her podcast Archetypes that she discovered she is 43% Nigerian through a genealogy test. Throughout the trip, she spoke of the connection she feels to the country.

The chairman went on to say that she was “excited but not surprised” when Meghan shared the news about her Nigerian heritage, “because she is beautiful, intelligent, diligent and hardworking and she stands firm in the midst of challenges.”

“Prince Harry, you married the best — our daughter, our friend, Princess Meghan,” she said. “I hope you come back again, again and again.”

Harry and Meghan are in Nigeria at the invitation of the Chief of Defense Staff, the country’s highest-ranking military official, and arrived in Africa on May 10 for the official three-day stay. The visit is significant as their first international tour since stepping back from their royal roles in 2020, and PEOPLE’s chief foreign correspondent Simon Perry exclusively joined the trip to Nigeria.

The busy itinerary highlighted the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry founded in 2014 as a vehicle for healing for wounded, injured and sick service personnel through adaptive sport. Harry and Meghan made the trip following Nigeria’s event debut at the latest iteration of the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany in September 2023, and the Minister of Defense has expressed interest in hosting the Games in the future.

The Duke and Duchess’ trip kicked off in Abuja and concludes in Lagos on May 12 with a basketball clinic from charity Giants of Africa, a cultural reception at the State Governor Hosue and a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.

Ending the stay in Lagos also calls back to Princess Diana and King Charles’ trip to Nigeria, as they visited the city in 1990.

  • Royal shock : Meghan Markle prefers ‘good PR’ in Nigeria rather than risk being ‘booed’ in the UK

Royal shock : Meghan Markle prefers ‘good PR’ in Nigeria rather than risk being ‘booed’ in the UK

Meghan Markle prefers ‘good PR’ in Nigeria over risk of being ‘booed’ in England

Meghan Markle prefers travelling to Nigeria where she is likely to have a “good PR” opportunity over visiting England due to the risk of being “booed” by royalists who “don’t really like her very much”, a royal expert has said.

The Duchess of Sussex will not join her husband, Prince Harry, on his trip to London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games next week.

The ceremony will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral and last time the couple were there for a service during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, they were cheered by many royal fans but were also booed by some people.

But just days after Harry travels to England, Meghan will join him on a trip to Nigeria, where they will have talks about the Invictus Games and will be offered security by the Nigerian government.

Meghan Markle will not join Prince Harry in the UK next week

According to Newsweek royal correspondent Jack Royston, Meghan will have “a very positive welcome” in Nigeria, which she would not have in the UK.

Addressing the incident in which some people booed Harry and Meghan during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Mr Royston told The Royal Report podcast: “The centerpiece of this visit is a service of Thanksgiving for Invictus at St Paul’s Cathedral. Now the last time Meghan went there, Meghan and Harry were booed by royalists. That was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

“There were cheers as well, but there were certainly boos, and that was during a similar service of Thanksgiving.” Noting that the Duchess might want to avoid a similar incident, Mr Royston said: “By contrast, Meghan will obviously get a very positive welcome in Nigeria.

“So, she may simply be choosing guaranteed good PR over the possibility of another moment of hubris at the hands of monarchists who don’t really like her very much. Meghan has generally been a great supporter of Invictus. She’s continued to attend the tournaments, and also not just the actual games themselves, but the ‘one year to go’ promotional events, too.

For all the latest on news, politics, sports, and showbiz from the USA, go to The Mirror US.

“So, why not this one in Britain, especially since it’s a whole program marking the 10-year anniversary? It’s a long time until it’s going to be the 20-year anniversary. You’d think that she would want to be there.”

Now, an expert said it is “wise” that Meghan will not travel to the UK with Harry. “It’s a wise decision that Meghan isn’t accompanying Harry to the UK for the Invictus Games,” public relations guru Lynn Carratt revealed exclusively to The Mirror. She said: “This event is one of Harry’s greatest accomplishments, that he was already involved in before meeting Meghan.

“If Megan were to return to the UK, the press coverage of the Invictus Games service would likely be overshadowed by her presence, which neither Harry nor Meghan would want.” Lynn then added: “Additionally, there is some hostility towards Meghan in the UK, and it’s understandable that she wouldn’t want to subject herself to negative press or public reception.”

And a royal expert said Meghan would have “terrible memories of the past” if she returned to the UK. According to Charlotte Griffiths, the Mail on Sunday’s Royal Editor, the Duchess will not return to the UK as she “knows she would get a bad reception”.

The expert said it is “sad” that Meghan will not be by her husband’s side, noting Harry will be “so lonely” as he usually attends Invictus events with his wife. Ms Griffiths told GB News: “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for.

“Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.” During a conversation with GB News host Patrick Christys, the royal editor said travelling to the UK would be “really difficult” for Meghan and would bring up “terrible memories” of the past.

Rwanda refuses to guarantee how many UK migrants it will take
Story by David Wilcock, Deputy Political Editor For Mailonline

The Rwandan government today refused to guarantee how many migrants it will take from the UK under Rishi Sunak’s flagship deportation scheme.

The Prime Minister’s plan to deal with asylum seekers arriving in the UK via irregular routes including the English Channel crossing is to place them on a one-way flight to Kigali.

He hopes that the five-year deal will deter other small boats attempting the journey from France and boost Tory poll numbers before the general election later this year.

Yolande Makolo, a spokeswoman for the east African state, told the BBC today that while it expected to receive ‘thousands’ their arrival would be staggered.

Asked by Laura Kuenssberg if Rwanda would be able to process tens of thousands of migrants as part of the deal, Ms Makolo said: ‘We will be able to welcome the migrants that the UK sends over the lifetime of this partnership.
‘What I cannot tell you is how many thousands we are taking in the first year or the second year. This will depend on very many factors that are being worked out right now.’

She had earlier claimed there was a ‘misconception’ that Rwanda was only prepared to take 200 initial migrants, telling the BBC: ‘Journalists have been visiting the initial accommodation that we have secured since the beginning of the partnership. This is Hope Hostel. That particular facility is able to take up to 200 people.

‘However, we have already started initial discussions with other facilities around Kigali and further afield and these will be firmed up and signed once we know how many migrants are coming and when they are coming.

‘So it has never been the case that we can only take 200 initially, that has been a misconception.’

Sir Keir Starmer has said Labour will not keep the Rwanda policy if it wins the next election, but this has prompted questions about what the party would do instead.

Ms Makolo urged critics of the plan not to attack Rwanda ‘unjustly’, and to present a solution to the migrant crisis which was ‘not just deterrence and enforcement’.

‘People are suffering here so we need good solutions and we need to rethink the migration crisis,’ she said.

The spokeswoman later added: ‘Living in Rwanda is not a punishment. It is a beautiful country, including the weather.’

Labour’s national campaign co-ordinator Pat McFadden said if the party was in power it would spend the cash set aside for the Rwanda scheme on ‘a proper operation to crack down on the criminal gangs’.

A PA news agency fact check found payments to the Rwandan government as part of the deal would add up to £490 million by the end of the 2026/27 financial year, should a milestone of 300 migrants sent to Rwanda be reached.

PA found Labour’s claim that the scheme would cost £2 million per migrant to be mostly true, with the price tag decreasing substantially if many more were deported to Rwanda.

Mr McFadden said Labour believed the Government ‘will get flights off’ but did not believe the scheme would provide ‘value for money for the taxpayer’.

He also said he doubted Labour would work to return migrants to the UK from Rwanda should they form the next government.

Piers Morgan slams Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for ‘trash’ move – ‘it stinks’

Piers Morgan has blasted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for behaving like an ‘unofficial renegade royal family’.

Piers Morgan has accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of acting like an “unofficial renegade royal family”.

The former GMB presenter has slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in another rant – claiming their behaviour “stinks”.

Despite Harry receiving a warm welcome in the UK when he visited last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, Piers has torn into King Charles’ youngest son.

“They can do what they like, but I don’t like them doing it as an unofficial renegade royal family,” he told Billy Bush on Extra’s.

“The truth is, the real royal family right now, back here in England, are going through an awful lot of turmoil of all these senior members of the royal family, either dying literally or facing very serious health crisis.

“You have the Duke and Duchess of Montecito running around like a rival royal family trashing their family, trashing the monarchy, but wanting to exploit their royal titles. I think it stinks.”

Piers, who has never been one to give a measured response on the Sussexes, called for Charles to “strip them of their titles”.

Harry and Meghan have just finished their 72-hour trip to Nigeria, which was dubbed an “unofficial royal tour,” and believed to have upset many of the royal family.

“The King and Prince William are firmly of the belief that you are either in or out of the working Royals,” former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!.

“This (trip) seems to be a rather strange halfway house. I think both the King and the Prince, and indeed the Government will want it to be made clear that Harry is not representing either the Royal Family or Britain on this trip.”

Meghan Markle has sent a message to King Charles and Prince William to not make a fool out of themselves by stripping her and Prince Harry’s royal titles.

A source close to the Duchess of Sussex has revealed what she thinks of reports about the monarch and Prince of Wales having discussions about removing her and Harry’s titles.

For the unversed, royal expert and author Tom Quinn has claimed Charles and William have been having lengthy discussions about doing something about the Sussexes’ titles.

However, the expert noted that “the last thing they want is to give the renegades something else to complain about.”

“William and his father know that even without their royal titles Meghan and Harry would carry on traveling the world as if they were royals and most people in the world will still welcome them.”

Issuing a warning to Charles and William, the insider said that Meghan is confident that the title stripping would only backfire on the royals.

“Charles and William are right to worry that stripping the rogue couple of titles would only result in them with egg on their face,” Meghan’s alleged mouth-piece said, as per Radar Online.

“To many people, who have no idea of royal protocol or even care, Harry and Meghan will always be ‘prince’ or ‘duke and duchess’ no matter what the king does,” the tipster continued.

“So stripping the titles would be a waste of time — and make Charles and William look like petty sore losers.”
