King Charles is ‘not content’ with just seeing Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet, over video calls, royal sources have revealed.

The monarch, who has been undergoing cancer treatment since February, told friends that he is ‘keener than ever’ to build a relationship with Archie, five, and Lilibet, two, royal sources told the Mirror.

He has only met the Sussex children a handful of times since they were born, and wants to ‘make up for lost time’, given the long-running falling out Harry has had with the rest of the royal family over their alleged treatment of his wife.

Sources told the paper that King Charles, who managed to make it to D-Day commemorations last week, sent Lilibet a ‘heartfelt gift and card’ in celebration of her birthday last week.

A source said: ‘The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives.

‘He values family above everything and whatever the course of his ­relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.’

Harry, 39, and his wife Meghan, 42, have lived in Montecito, California, ever since they officially left their lives as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020.

Tensions between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family have remained high, even through King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

While Harry rushed more than 5,000 miles back to the UK to visit his father following the news, the pair met for just twenty minutes.

He later told American broadcaster ABC: ‘I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.’

Despite his fractured relationship with Harry, King Charles is reportedly a ‘fantastic and enthusiastic grandpa’ to Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, five, sources say.

Queen Camilla, 76, is also ­understood to be a driving force behind his decision to ramp up efforts to see his other grandchildren.

In fact, it should be noted that 65% of respondents disliked her, and 45% had very negative views of her”, reports the Mirror.

“Only 4% of Brits expressed very positive feelings toward her while her overall net approval rating dropped from minus 43 to minus 38 at the beginning of April”, she added. Lynn went on to say she believes Meghan would be taking the survey results with a “pinch of salt”. She added: “I’m not sure how interested she is anymore in getting the British public back on her side.

 

 

“She is American and that is where her family life is now, so she will be more concerned in raising her popularity in her own country and focusing on building her brand American Rivera Orchard and making it a huge success.”

Lynn added: “Harry of course will be as it’s his birthplace, and he wants his children to be connected to the British heritage. But we only need to look at their visit to Nigeria last week to know that would have given the couple much confidence because they are celebrated in that country and in their eyes the tour would have been a great success and they do have more visits to other countries lined-up.”

“They did face some criticism from royal supporters as their trip had all the hallmarks of an official royal tour. As Harry and Meghan are no longer working royals, if their foreign visits continue like this, it is likely to cause some friction with King Charles.”

John Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon has gone on an online rant against Prince Harry, calling him an ‘idiot’ who deserves to be mocked.

 

Sean, 48, sparked fury among the royal’s fans when he posted a joke about his book Spare, writing: ‘My long awaited review of Prince Harry’s autobiography is two words. “Spare Me.”‘ While the musician insisted he was just making a pun out of the book’s title, he doubled down on his criticism of Harry as he was slammed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Oscar-winner seemed to particularly be offended by Harry sharing in his book that he treated his frostbitten penis – which he called his ‘todger’ – with his late mother’s favorite lip cream. ‘It was a pun,’ Sean said of his initially post. ‘But he deserves to be mocked after that todger episode. He’ll be fine.’ As social media users continued supporting Harry, mentioning the tragedies he has been through, Sean stood by his decision to mock the royal.

Sean said of Harry’s past: ‘That is very sad. I don’t hold any of that against him. ‘Also why I’m very disappointed with his outlook. I was hoping he’d be smarter.’ In another reply, Sean said: ‘I do empathize with him generally. But the way he whines and wangs on about things is really too much. ‘I’m just having a little fun. I think he’s earned some mockery. (I’m sure I have as well).’

 

Sean also replied to a Harry fan who defended him by suggesting that Sean was jealous of the Prince being a best-selling author ‘I mean, I don’t care but I did win an Oscar this year so…I think I’m doing okay,’ he said. ‘I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I’ve been told that one day she wants to run for President,’ Lady Colin claimed.

‘I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her.’

The Jamaican-born British writer, who penned the 1992 best-selling biography, Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows, has a new book out on Thursday about the Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 38, titled Meghan and Harry: The Real Story.

The author has given a number of interviews about the couple in recent weeks, including one with The Sunday Times in which she said Meghan has ‘squandered’ the ‘most wonderful opportunity’ by leaving the royal family.

She also claimed the signs Meghan would ‘not adjust’ well to life as a royal were apparent shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

Lady Colin told how Meghan became the hot topic of conversation at a dinner held at her house at Castle Goring, Worthing in Sussex, following a garden party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.

The socialite heard Meghan had apparently asked to leave after having her photo taken because she was ‘bored’.

‘We were all horrified,’ the author said. ‘It was a warning sign Meghan was not going to adjust as well as she’d hoped.’

Speaking to Australian TV network Channel Nine on Friday in which she said Meghan was the ‘driving force’ behind the decision to leave the royal family.

‘If you listen to their engagement tape they both state she’s been treated very well, she’s been welcomed with open arms and they can’t wait for her to become a working member of the royal family and she said she wanted to hit the ground running.

‘It did not work out for Meghan the way she thought it would… Meghan did not make the adjustment she should have and could have, and she is the one in my opinion [who drove the departure].’

The sizzle reel for tonight’s action shows plenty of shocked faces and gasps all round as the truth comes to light.

It certainly looks like Uma and Wil’s relationship is hanging by a thread after she’s shown clips of him in Casa Amor with Lucy.

Carol originally joined the weekday series in 2000 and this week took aim at show bosses for an alleged “totally unjust” contract dispute.

Yet now, her controversial views on the coronavirus pandemic – which saw the TV star accuse the World Health Organisation of a “plot” – are said to be to blame.

According to MailOnline, her comments on TNT radio were at the “centre” of her decision to quit.

Carol’s TNT Radio interview for The Freeman Report with James Freeman is said to have seen her accuse media organisations of being “bought off by the Government.”

She then took fire at former Health Secretary Matt Hancock MP and sensationally claimed he shipped sick patients from France to the UK to fill “empty hospital beds.”

In another clip, she alleged there was: “Government orders to disable the [Twitter] accounts of people who were speaking out against the government, and the narrative and the Covid restrictions and all of those things.”

Her comments prompted a flood of calls to the radio network as well as ITV, with some demanding she be sacked.

An ITV spokesperson today told The Sun: “ITV will not comment on speculation around individual contracts. We understand that Carol has decided to leave Loose Women and we wish her well in any future projects.”

A source close to the show also said: “Any theories around Covid discussed by Carol on a platform outside of ITV would be her personal opinions, have not been broadcast as part of Loose Women and do not represent the views of ITV.

“Here at ITV we encourage free speech, but equally are fully committed to responsible broadcasting and adhering to the OfCom code.”

Earlier this week, an ITV spokesperson added: “ITV will not comment on or disclose details of individual contracts but all ITV contracts comply with the relevant external legislation.”

It came after Carol told Best Magazine how the “stress” over upcoming contract negotiations had been impacting her life.

She said: “I haven’t been on the show for two months now because I’ve had to step away from it.

“It was causing me too much stress, which was mostly down to a difficult contract issue I’d been challenging since January.

“The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say no thanks.

“And I know it looks like I’ve thrown my toys out of the pram, but the whole saga was affecting my health.”

Carol, who is a favourite for her fiery opinions and was recently criticised for slamming her co-stars tattoos, was quick to emphasise her current situation.

She added to the publication: “It’s not really that I’ve left, I’m just not doing it at the moment. I feel quite upset about it, if I’m honest, because although it is my decision, I felt like it was one I was being forced to make.

“No one in their right mind would have signed that contract. And I can’t see a way back from it.”

And ITV insider said: “From April 2021, HMRC made changes to off-payroll (IR35) legislation, which means the responsibility of assessing whether a role is employed or self-employed for tax purposes, now sits with all employers.

“ITV has updated its contracting policy in line with this HMRC legislation and communicated any contract changes to all those concerned.

Loose Women’s most controversial exits following Carol McGiffin’s break from daytime show

The Loose Women panel have been rocked by another departure after Carol McGiffin hints at why she’s been absent from the hit daytime show.

For more than two decades, the TV broadcaster has been a regular on the ITV programme, frequently stirring up debate among her fellow panellists with her divisive views.

The 63-year-old host explained that her time on the show has come to an end due to her ‘unjust’ contract.

‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say ‘no thanks,’” she wrote in Best magazine.

‘No one in their right mind would have signed that contract,’ she added. ‘And I can’t see a way back from it.’

An ITV spokesperson said in a statement sent to Metro.co.uk: ‘ITV will not comment on or disclose details of individual contracts but all ITV contracts comply with the required employment and HMRC legislation.’

Despite Carol receiving support from co-stars Denise Welch and Brenda Edwards, the show has dealt with a lot of famous faces controversially leaving the show, so here’s some of the most notorious moments to date.

Jamelia

Singer Jamelia Niela Davis was reportedly axed from Loose Women in 2016 after her comments on plus size fashion caused outrage.

Her comments came as part of a discussion about overweight teenagers, with Jamelia saying she does not believe shops should be facilitating an unhealthy lifestyle.

The singer said on the programme: ‘I don’t believe stores should stock clothes below or above a certain weight. They should be made to feel uncomfortable when they go in and can’t find a size.’

After being hit with accusations of body shaming Jamelia tweeted: ‘Never waste your time trying to explain, to people committed to misunderstanding you.’

The 42-year-old appeared on Good Morning Britain the following day to clarify her statement.

She said: ‘Knowing that I made people question themselves and their choices really did upset me and all I can do is apologise for that but I do stand by what I said.’

A source told The Sun: ‘The show is often close to the bone but those comments were the final straw.’

A spokesperson said at the time: ‘Jamelia is currently working on other projects for ITV Daytime including some hair and beauty features for This Morning.’

TV personality Saira Khan claimed she quit Loose Women after ITV bosses asked her to join OnlyFans.

The 52-year-old presenter was a regular panellist on the programme for five years before she departed in January 2021.

In October 2022, she alleged that she left ‘quietly’ after being approached by bosses to join the content subscription service OnlyFans, a request she described as ‘offensive’ and ‘disgusting’.

Sharing more details about ITV’s alleged approach on social media, she explained: ‘They asked me to go undercover and open an OnlyFans account for an investigative story – I had no idea what that even meant – it was asked by a junior producer who was sent running after me just as I was leaving to go home.’

Looking back at her time on the show, she also confessed the social media abuse made her time on Loose Women ‘toxic’.

Saira stressed that she does not want Loose Women to be cancelled, nor does she wish any harm to her former co-stars.

A spokesperson for Loose Women told Metro.co.uk that they ‘strongly refute’ Khan’s claims.

‘Duty of care is of paramount importance for all of our panellists,’ they continued. ‘Saira left the Loose Women panel almost two years ago and we wish her well.’

Radio presenter Jenny Powell left the British talk show back in 2005, but appeared as a guest a few times since.

In November 2022, the 55-year-old claimed there was a bad energy brewing between the panellists.
