Exclusive Marvel art reveals Henry Cavill’s transformation for his MCU debut

Amidst rumors of Henry Cavill joining the MCU, one fan shared art work depicting the former Superman as the leader of X-Men.

Henry Cavill’s stint as Superman in the DCEU was marred with missed opportunities and remains a big what could have been for fans. However, the actor is now poised to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is a fan-favorite choice to play several popular characters from the pages of Marvel Comics.

Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel

While Cavill is rumored to be joining the MCU, a fan took to social media to share their take on the character Cavill should portray. The fan art not only gives fans a glimpse of what Cavill’s MCU debut could look like but also presents the star as a direct rival for Wolverine, a character Cavill has often been fan-cast as. Here is the fan art that turned Henry Cavill into one of Wolverine’s long-running rivals.

Fan Art Imagines Henry Cavill as Cyclops in the MCU

Henry Cavill in a still from Man of Steel

Actor Henry Cavill briefly returned to his role as Superman for 2022’s Black Adam. However, since James Gunn took the helm at DC Studios and rebooted the franchise, Cavill has been without his iconic cape and suit. As a result, fans of the actor have clamored to see him return to the superhero genre by joining the MCU as Captain Britain or Hyperion.

A fan art shared on Instagram by user @spdrmnkyxxiii gives viewers a taste of what Cavill could look like as a Marvel superhero by imagining the actor as Scott Summers / Cyclops, a powerful mutant who emits energy beams from his eyes. You can check out the complete artwork below.

Along with the artwork, the Instagram user expressed a desire to see Cavill in the MCU as Cyclops, especially because the character shares the laser shooting power with Cavill’s DCEU counterpart, Superman. Moreover, casting Cavill as Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men, would allow Cavill to lead a franchise within the MCU, similar to the failed attempt with DC’s Justice League.

Henry Cavill’s Cyclops Could Be the Perfect Rival for MCU’s Wolverine

In February 2024, rumors began circulating that Henry Cavill would be joining the MCU. According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Cavill wasn’t being considered for the role of Doctor Doom. However, the insider claimed that Cavill had been offered a different role and accepted the part.

Cyclops and Wolverine in Marvel Comics

As a result, several fans expressed a desire to see Cavill as the MCU’s Wolverine, taking over from Hugh Jackman. Some even shared fan art of Cavill as a variant of Wolverine. However, the recent fan-casting of Cavill as Cyclops would make him a rival of Wolverine in the MCU.

In the comics, Cyclops and Wolverine both work with the X-Men but share a rivalry. The duo of mutants is often vying for the affection of Jean Grey, which makes them rivals. As a result, a similar storyline could play out in the MCU where Cavill’s Cyclops and Wolverine feud over a girl and possibly leadership of the X-Men.

Moreover, casting Cavill as Cyclops would add much-needed physicality to the character, distinguishing him from the previous iterations who appeared in Fox’s X-Men franchise. Hence, Cavill’s version could ideally be based on Jonathan Hickman’s take on Cyclops, which includes some of the most beloved comic storylines of the character.

When Dylan stopped tempting again, the Yankees prospect was low profile but highly rated

The New York Yankees flaunt one of the most reputed farm systems in MLB.

With the latest reactivation of interest in pitcher Dylan Cease, there’s mixed interest among the Yankee fans On one hand, they are worried for Gerrit Cole, and on the other. On the other, these names have made the headlines in the Bronx.

The Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, went in for an MRI due to a “discomfort” in his throwing elbow on Monday. The club seems to be waiting for news. In the meantime, the rekindling of interest in the RHP Cease has given rise to questions about which prospects would be involved in the “new proposal for ace Dylan Cease”.

    USA Today via Reuters

New York Yankees’ Farm System – The Next Big Thing

Well apart from names such as Spencer Jones, Austin Wells, and Jasson Dominguez, there are others. While they might be less-spoken-of prospects in the farm system, they can be considered untouchables.

To begin with, outfielder Ben Rice wouldn’t be the flashiest name, yet his well-rounded skillset has scouts raving. Evaluators praise his advanced hitting approach, with a knack for generating consistent line drives and gap power. At 6′ 1″/215, Rice has the frame to eventually add even more pop to his swing.  Going forward, he might grow into an All-Star. Let th enumbres do the talking here. He hit 20 homers with a 68 RBI and stole 11 bases. His slash line .342/.434/.615/1.049 is allthe more a reason not to trade him.

Next up is TJ Rumfield who defensively is way ahead of the curve. Teams have their eyes on about his receiving skills. Boasting stats in the likes of 17 homeruns, RBI 58 and an AVG .222, OBP .320, OPS .757, he remains an attractive prospect. But guess what, he’s a keeper too.

Another keeper in the list is perhaps the most intriguing name on this list – Henry Lalane. 19-year-old left-hander is the No. 4 prospect in the Florida Complex League and the ace of a Yankees minor-league team. The  6-foot-7 boasts a 4.57 ERA in just 21.2 innings in 2022. Will all “glowing” reviews, he could be one of MLB’s best in 2024.

Spencer Jones, Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells Continues to Be Hold the Untouchable Spot Amid Trade Talks

While the underdogs continue to remain on the radar particularly after interest in Dylan Cease, there are some names which have to be mentioned – Jasson Dominguez, Spencer Jones and Austin Wells. These three fill the positions of significant need for the Yanks. Jones is an unmatched power-hitting outfielder.  Dominguez on the other hand is an impressive center fielder and Wells another highly-touted backstop. In an age where finding top-tier talent at these positions through the draft or free agency is challenging, these players must be protected at all costs. With that, circling back to the situation at hand becomes super important.

Amid the growing tension within the New York Yankees about what happens with Gerrit Cole, this idea of bringing Cease to the Bronx might come with a hefty trade. But only time will tell if any of these untouchable prospects would be forced out of the Pinstripes.

Mike Stanton Analyzes Significance of Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole’s Injury “This Rotation Already Has Problems”

Mike Stanton reveals the scary nature of Yankees ace Gerrit Cole’s injury, and how it might cause some issues with the depth of the current rotation.

The New York Yankees are set to start their season against the Boston Red Socks, and they are likely to be without their ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole. Cole is dealing with an unspecified elbow injury that is being looked at via an MRI.

The Yankees have seemingly been downplaying the situation, and Cole’s injury could be far more devastating to the current rotation. Despite its talented players, depth could become the biggest handicap for the team should Cole not be able to play for an extended period.

Reigning American League. Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole is going for an MRI on that very expensive right elbow of his. The Yankees are doing a pretty good job of staying calm and downplaying this, but we know that this rotation already has some issues. It’s very talented. But there’s not a whole heck of a lot of depth.”

Cole went 15-4 with a 2.63 ERA and 222 strikeouts last season, which would be sorely missed. The reigning Cy Young Award winner is also getting up there in age and has not bounced back from his injury in the way that he had hoped.

What makes this situation a bit scarier is both Carlos Rodón and Nestor Cortes are also returning from injuries. Should they aggravate those injuries again, it could spell trouble for the Yankees.

The Yankees could look to Blake Snell, who has yet to be signed—but can they afford his contract right now? The best and easiest option here is to allow Cole to rest his elbow further, and no surgery will be required for whatever injury he has sustained.

New Yankees move: New proposal floated for Dylan’s shutdown revealed, reports say

The New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole needs an MRI on his pitching elbow, according to MLB’s Bryan Hoch on March 11.

The Yankees had already been linked to free-agent starter Blake Snell, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. However, with the news of Cole’s elbow, the Yankees have “made a new proposal” for the Chicago White Sox ace, Dylan Cease, according to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale.

The Yankees had “extensive” talks with the White Sox for Cease earlier in the offseason, but nothing came to fruition, according to Nightengale. Cease is slated to lead the White Sox rotation and has pitched to a 1.80 ERA, and allowed just one run, across his two spring training starts.

    Dylan Cease Asking Price

Cease was listed as a potential trade target for the Yankees when news of Cole’s injury broke on March 11, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. Heyman suggests that if Cole’s injury is a minor setback the team should not go for a marquee free agent. However, Cease would be a “bargain at $8M,” wrote Heyman.

Cease is 28 years old and is arbitration-eligible for one more season, according to Spotrac. Cease being arbitration eligible in 2025 makes him a very valuable asset for the White Sox in trade negotiations.

“There was some whining about the asking price for Cease, but teams that have dealt with the Sox suggest they seek maybe one and a half times what the Brewers got for Corbin Burnes,” according to Heyman

Burnes was traded to the Orioles for shortstop Joey Ortiz and left-handed pitcher DL Hall in February. Ortiz is the MLB’s No. 63 prospect and Hall is a major league reliever. Heyman’s report suggests the Yankees would have to beat that level of compensation to acquire Cease.

The Yankees’ new proposal does not include their 22-year-old No. 2 prospect, Spencer Jones, according to Nightengale. The young outfielder is the MLB No. 84 prospect. Earlier in the offseason the White Sox “never came close to receiving an offer for ace Dylan Cease that tempted them to trade him,” wrote Nightengale. The Yankees may have to part ways with Jones to finalize a trade with the White Sox this time around.

Cease Would Bolster the Yankees Rotation

Cease struck out 214 batters in 2023. He finished No. 5 in the American League and No. 8 in the majors in that category. Regardless of Cole’s status, Cease would be a valuable addition to the Yankees starting rotation.

Cease has a 3.83 ERA over his five seasons as a White Sox. In 2022, Cease had a 2.20 ERA, finishing third in the league. He also finished No. 2 in the AL with 227 strikeouts. His stellar 2022 season resulted in him finishing second in the AL Cy Young Award voting.

At full strength, Cease would join a rotation of Cole, Marcus Stroman, Carlos Rodón and Nester Cortes. The Yankees signed Stroman to a two-year deal in free agency. Adding Cease and Stroman in the same offseason would be a significant upgrade to the Yankees rotation from 2023.

Cole will have more testing done on March 12 and manager Aaron Boone thinks it will still be a few days before anything comes of it, according to Hoch. Boone also said it would be “difficult” to envision Cole starting on opening day, Hoch wrote.

  • MLB rumors: White Sox’s immense Dylan Cease trade interest slaps Yankees with harsh reality

MLB rumors: White Sox’s immense Dylan Cease trade interest slaps Yankees with harsh reality

The White Sox could get a haul for Dylan Cease.

The New York Yankees have expressed a renewed interest in acquiring Dylan Cease from the Chicago White Sox after Gerrit Cole went to get an MRI on his elbow, but there is reportedly a ton of chatter that there are better offers for Cease from other teams, according to Andy Martino of SNY.

It makes sense that the Yankees have made a new offer for Dylan Cease, as they could use some more pitching depth. However, the White Sox seem intent on receiving Spencer Jones if they are making a trade with the Yankees, and New York is highly unlikely to include him in a package. Spencer Jones is a player the Yankees likely believe could factor into their outfield picture in the next year or two.

The Yankees are still waiting on the results from all of the testing that Gerrit Cole is getting done. It is unknown whether this is a worst case scenario in which he will need something like Tommy John surgery and miss the season, or if it is something he will have to miss just a portion of the season for.

Regardless, it seems unlikely that the Yankees will add Cease.

Will the White Sox trade Dylan Cease before the season starts?

© Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY SportsCease is coming off a bit of a down year in 2023, but he was a Cy Young finalist in 2022. The upside is certainly there, and with Cease being under control for the next two seasons, it makes sense that they are seeking a significant package in return.

Based on reports, if Cease does get traded soon, it would be a surprise if it was to the Yankees. A number of teams around the league could use another pitcher. Only time will tell if someone steps up with an offer that is enticing enough for the White Sox.

  • Aaron Judge is ‘pretty sure’ he’ll be ready for Opening Day, but Gerrit Cole hasn’t lived up to expectations

Aaron Judge is ‘pretty sure’ he’ll be ready for Opening Day, but Gerrit Cole hasn’t lived up to expectations

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge made an unexpected announcement on Tuesday morning: he’d undergone an MRI the day before after experiencing abdominal discomfort, and won’t be swinging a bat for the rest of the week.

Aaron Judge says he underwent an MRI on his abs yesterday. He said that he will not swing a bat again until later in the week. Said “there’s no real need to push it,” and his goal is to play Opening Day.

    — Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) March 12, 2024

Judge had been given the day off on Monday while the Yankees faced the Philadelphia Phillies, but manager Aaron Boone hadn’t said anything about Judge having any specific issue. In fact, Boone went out of his way to characterize Judge as being “mid-spring beat up,” specifically from the work he’s done during spring.

That’s not quite how Judge put it.

“I think just from swinging from November all the way until now, every single day, it put some wear and tear on it,” Judge said via Brian Hoch of MLB.com. “Especially coming back after a [right] toe injury when your mechanics are a little messed up and you’re just working on some things.”

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge will take the rest of the week off from swinging a bat after experiencing discomfort in his abdominal area. (Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)

No one can blame Yankees fans for hearing alarm bells right now. Judge has had difficulty staying healthy over the past several seasons, dealing with injuries to his oblique and toe that cost him quite a bit of time. Hearing that he’s already dealing with wear and tear doesn’t feel like a good omen for the upcoming season, and Boone appearing to lie by omission only makes it seem like the Yankees were trying to hide it.

Judge doesn’t seem terribly concerned, though, chalking it up to “being a baseball player every day.” He said the tests on his abs came back fine (noting specifically that it wasn’t his oblique) and is “pretty sure” he’ll be ready for Opening Day.

Aaron Judge was asked if he is confident that he will be ready for Opening Day:

“I’m pretty sure. I don’t want to speculate or talk about anything that hasn’t come yet. The most important thing is taking some time now and be back out there soon.”

    — Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) March 12, 2024

“Pretty sure” isn’t a phrase that elicits a lot of confidence, but Judge being banged up before Opening Day isn’t the Yankees’ only problem. Their ace, Gerrit Cole, underwent an MRI on his right elbow on Monday after he had trouble bouncing back between spring starts. There was no update on Cole’s status Tuesday morning, but Boone said something that felt extremely ominous.

Aaron Boone said the Yankees have “started to have those conversations” about who would start Opening Day in place of Gerrit Cole.

    — Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) March 12, 2024

In contrast to Judge, Cole has been heathy since he signed with the Yankees in 2020. He’s been a workhorse, making his starts every five days like clockwork and putting up numbers that range from “very good” all the way to “holy crap.” Losing Cole for more than a few weeks could mean trouble for the Yankees, something which their captain is fully aware of.

“I know he’s not bouncing back the way he is, but that guy’s a perfectionist,” Judge said about Cole. “I’m hoping for the best news, even if it’s him being out a couple of weeks. I’ll take that over anything worse. We’re all praying for the best.”

  • MLB Rumors: Yankees renewed interest in Dylan Cease can’t be good news for Gerrit Cole

MLB Rumors: Yankees renewed interest in Dylan Cease can’t be good news for Gerrit Cole

The New York Yankees are reportedly interested in Dylan Cease again. That can’t be good news for Gerrit Cole’s injury.

2024 New York Yankees Spring Training / New York Yankees/GettyImages

Gerrit Cole underwent an MRI on his pitching elbow this week, and while the Yankees have since been mum on the subject, sometimes actions speak louder than words.

As Cole awaits his fate, Aaron Boone and Co. have quietly been working behind the scenes to inquire about White Sox ace Dylan Cease, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

As of Monday night, it was not known if Cole’s injury status would impact the Yankees free-agent plans, as FanSided’s Robert Murray wrote. Cole’s MRI is for precautionary reasons, and the Yanks potential luxury tax hit of 110 percent could persuade them to pursue far cheaper options than Jordan Montgomery or Blake Snell.

“There are free-agent options such as Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery available, and both were the highest-rated arms available this winter. But signing either would mean the Yankees would be taxed 110% on every dollar spent since they are over the $297 million payroll mark, making any potential signing of the two biggest names left on the free agent market highly unlikely,” Murray wrote.

Does Yankees Dylan Cease interest mean Gerrit Cole will miss time?

Perhaps the Yankees are just playing it safe, noting how expensive Cease would be if Cole is forced out of action to start the season. Cole starting on Opening Day appears unlikely from the outside looking in, as the Yankees would be better-served giving him all the time necessary to recover from his elbow injury.

Trading for Cease, even with Cole in tow, wouldn’t be completely out of line with Brian Cashman’s thinking. Cease is affordable as compared to Montgomery or Snell for the next two years. Per Nightengale, the Yankees don’t want to include Spencer Jones in any deal, which limits the likelihood of a trade taking place at all.

The situation with Cole remains fluid, and the Yankees seemed optimistic on the injury front as recently as Monday. However, Tuesday’s heel turn doesn’t look like a good sign.
