Henry Cavill takes on the role of Wolverine variant – Prepare for the transformation performance!

The latest Barside Buzz folks says that Henry Cavill will play a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine, plus that Eternals 2 is ‘transformed’ into another project. There is of course only one place to start and that’s Henry Cavill as Wolverine. I mean, really?

Well the first outlet to make this claim was GFR. They don’t have a good enough hit rate for me to cover their scoops but they do get a few. The reason I am covering it now is because CWGST is now corroborating this story, and they are not alone. Toast does have a very good hit rate.

Honestly, this is not that bad an idea if Cavill was going to be Wolverine in the MCU post-Secret Wars. However, I will throw some doubt on that as Cavill may be too old to start playing Logan with a young X-Men cast. Therefore, if this is just a one and done, never see Cavill again in the MCU, it more feels like a waste to me.

Just guess work an opinions from me folks, for all I know I’m wrong. But this is an interesting rumor to say the least.

Second up from MTTSH, who backs that there will be no Eternals 2 movie, However, she also says that’s partly because the film ‘transformed’ into another project.

Look, if there’s never a movie called Eternals 2, even if some of the characters return, then it got canned as far as I’m concerned. As for what it transformed into, there’s not a lot to go on here. Some fans have started speculating this will become an animated sequel instead. I have no thoughts on that, but there’s also no evidence to suggest it’s true.

Truth is, I’m not sure whether the majority of fans are that bothered if we do get Eternals 2. I liked it more than many is memory serves. However, It was just okay, so I’m not really going to get upset if it never happens.

What do you think of this Barside Buzz? Henry Cavill will play a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine, plus that Eternals 2 is ‘transformed’ into another project. Let us know what you think below?

  • Henry Cavill as Wolverine: Even just this thought gives fans chills!

Henry Cavill as Wolverine: Even just this thought gives fans chills!

Ever since Disney acquired the rights to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the rumor mill has been going crazy with the idea that the X-Men franchise might finally be joining the rest of their Marvel family, and the newest casting rumor is no different.

Henry Cavill is no stranger to superhero movies.

The actor played Superman in the DC films Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. He’s also a hot commodity right now, since he’s currently starring in Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher.

So when the rumors started swirling that Henry was being considered to play the iconic X Man Wolverine in the ‘Captain Marvel’ sequel, fans had a lot of opinions.

Some people have been calling the source of the rumor pretty sketchy, but that hasn’t stopped people from chiming in with their opinion on who should take over for Hugh Jackman.

There were a lot of people who felt that Henry would not be the right choice.

Some people felt like Cavill would always be Superman and wouldn’t be believable as the much gruffer, rougher Logan.

Others thought that Henry, at 6’3, is too tall for the part.

While Hugh Jackman clocks in at 6’2, in the comics, the character of Wolverine is incredibly short — he’s only 5’3! Some people felt a shorter actor, like Daniel Radcliffe, could bring some accuracy to the character.

Some fans would be here for it if the casting was true.

While the naysayers were loud, there were some supporters in the Henry-as-Wolverine camp, with fans pointing out that the actor has “the perfect build” for the part.

    What do you think?

Would Henry be a worthy successor for the part, or should the MCU go in a totally different direction for the eventual introduction of The X Men? Let us know in the comments!

  • Henry Cavill says he doesn’t “understand” the point of sex scenes in movies

Henry Cavill says he doesn’t “understand” the point of sex scenes in movies

“I think sometimes they’re overused these days…I’m not a fan of doing them.”

Henry Cavill has revealed how he feels about doing sex scenes and argued that they are “overused” in movies these days.

Every day, there’s some sort of sex scene discourse on social media. In the last year alone, Poor Things has faced backlash over its graphic moments, Red, White & Royal Blue has been praised for its “authentic”, gay sex scenes and Saltburn has divided viewers with everything from the period scene to the grave scene.

Now, Henry Cavill has entered the chat and confessed that he isn’t a “fan” of sex scenes. He doesn’t “understand” them.

Discussing sex scenes on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Henry said: “I don’t understand them – I’m not a fan. There are circumstances where a sex scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience.” However, he then added that he often feels like they’re pointless. He said: “I think sometimes they’re overused these days.”

Explaining how he feels, Henry stated: “It’s when you have a sense where you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on? And that’s when you start to get more uncomfortable and you’re thinking, ‘There’s not a performance here’.”

Henry continued: “Most of the time, the human imagination is gonna trump [doing sex scenes]. So I think that it can be a little bit of a cop out if a TV show or a movie is filled with gyrating bodies. What is this doing for us?”

As for himself, Henry made clear: “I’m not a fan of doing them.”

In the past, Henry has filmed sex scenes for shows such as The Tudors and The Witcher. In fact, one sex scene led to a very awkward moment where he got an erection and had to apologise to his co-star while filming The Tudors.

Talking to Men’s Fitness about the unfortunate incident back in 2015, Henry said: “It’s only happened to me once. A girl had to be on top of me, she had spectacular breasts and I hadn’t rearranged my stuff into a harmless position. She’s basically rubbing herself all over me and, um, it got a bit hard.”

Henry said that he had to “apologise profusely” afterwards. “It’s not great when you’re in a professional acting environment and somebody gets a boner is it?” he admitted. “No, not acceptable.”

Henry Cavill makes his MCU debut in a surprise clash with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in a new capacity

After being a part of DCU for a long haul, Henry Cavill was fired and immediately replaced by David Corneswet. Later Cavill walked out from ‘The Witcher,’ leaving the fans worried about the actor’s career.

However, the recent speculation hinted that Henry Cavill signed a deal with Marvel Cinematic Universe in an undisclosed role. With Cavill’s interest in playing Captain Britain and fans demanding him in the suit of Cyclops, there is one deserving role that will suit Henry Cavill.

Henry Cavill Will Debut As Marvel’s Hyperion

Henry Cavill Will Debut As Marvel’s Hyperion

If DC owns Superman, then Marvel has its reach over Hyperion. Created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Sal Buscema, the original Hyperion debuted in The Avengers issue 69.

The writer revealed that the character was intended as a pastiche of DC’s iconic hero Superman. With Cavill embodying the Eternals, would be humiliating to DC.

Marvel has been known to throw shade at its rival franchise DC and the ongoing playful spat has been going around since the beginning. MCU is green-lighting Eternals only after DC’s New Gods. Later Marvel approved ‘Captain America: Civil War’ after DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was confirmed.

Hyperion’s Involvement In Avengers Might Be Only Because Of Thor

    Hyperion and Thor

In the comics, Hyperion is an Eternal, who has been a part of Squadron Supreme. A rip-off of the Justice League, the team locked horns with the Avengers of Earth 616.

Amidst the war, Hyperion’s homeworld was destroyed in front of him which led him to settle on Earth 616, where he became an ally to Thor. Hyperion providing a shoulder to Thor after the events of Orignal Sin stripped Thor of his ability to lift Mjolnir

Eventually, Hyperion became an integral part of Earth 616, becoming a pivotal member of the US government-sanctioned Squadron Supreme. Hyperion would also go on to adopt the Children of the Sun, a race created through an ‘Origin Bomb’, who he raised along with Thor.

Henry Cavill will reportedly cameo as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’

Henry Cavill, notable for his iconic portrayal of Superman in the DC Extended Universe has been at the centre of a whirlwind of rumours recently.

The whispers suggest that Cavill is set to don a new superhero persona, this time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor is reportedly lined up to play a variant of Wolverine in the much-anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine.

The British actor once revealed that if given a chance, he would love to play Captain Britain in the MCU. However, rumours suggest Cavill’s dream won’t be coming true very soon.

Henry Cavill will reportedly cameo as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’

The introduction of the multiverse saga in the MCU has opened up possibilities for different versions of beloved characters.

This means that Cavill’s Wolverine would not be a direct successor of Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal but a distinct variant from a different Earth.

While Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed Cavill’s involvement, the rumours have gained momentum with the report originating from GFR and a scooper @CanWeGetToast.

GFR reported that Cavill “will be wearing a long brown coat when he shows up”, and that this would be his first appearance in a Marvel movie.

Henry Cavill will reportedly cameo as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’

If the rumours are true and Cavill indeed plays a Wolverine variant, it might potentially block his path to playing Captain Britain.

However, since this has not been confirmed by an official source, take this rumour with a huge grain of salt and keep your expectations low.

A synopsis for Deadpool 3 reads: “In Marvel Studios “Deadpool & Wolverine”, Wade Wilson is confronted by the TVA, which pulls him from a seemingly quiet life and results in Deadpool being unleashed.”

Apart from the rumoured addition of Cavill, the film features Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine.

Other returning cast members include Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapicic, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Leslie Uggams, and Karan Soni.

Deadpool & Wolverine is slated to release in theatres on July 26, 2024.

The star’s career started to gain traction in 2001 with the movie Laguna and, since then, he has been in the limelight. His dating history has also been on public display. Sadly, Henry is taken right now, but that doesn’t stop us from reminiscing on his past relationships.

    Ellen Whitaker

  • The ‘S’ on Superman’s chest doesn’t stand for ‘Superman’

The ‘S’ on Superman’s chest doesn’t stand for ‘Superman’

Superman fans might be surprised to learn that a key part of the superhero’s suit doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Superman made his comic book debut way back in 1938 and has since gone on to be household name in Hollywood.

A host of huge actors have donned the infamous Superman suit over the years, with Christopher Reeve being one of the most iconic portrayals of the DC Comics hero.

Most recently, Henry Cavill played Superman in the DC Universe but his time as Clark Kent came to an abrupt end in 2022.

DC Comics fans were sent into frenzy after Cavill made a brief cameo in post-credits scenes of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam as Kal-El.

Many were lead to believe that was The Witcher star was returning as Superman – Cavill included, but he later revealed that James Gunn ultimately decided to go in a different direction.

It’s since been revealed that 29-year-old actor David Corenswet will be the next Superman.

While the person wearing the suit has changed over the years, one thing that remains is its design.

The heroic ensemble has always been blue and red with a large ‘S’ across the chest and, while many were led to believe the letter stands for ‘Superman’, it’s actually something quite different.

Superman fans will know that Kal-El hails from the planet Krypton and was born to Jor-El and Lara.

And it turns out Superman’s suit gives a nod to his home planet.

The ‘S’ that had donned the chest of many Supermans (or Supermen?) isn’t even a ‘S’ at all, but a Kryptonian symbol.

The sign is a symbol of ‘hope’ and is Kal-El’s family crest.

When he learns of this in the comics, Superman goes on to adopt the logo.

This theory comes from DC Comics writer Mark Waid’s story, ‘Superman: Birthright’.

The ‘S’ is a symbol for hope. Credits: Jack Taylor/Getty Images

The next Superman movie that’s in the works is Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

The film’s synopsis reads, according to IMDb: “Follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and a brighter tomorrow in a world that views kindness as old-fashioned.”

Joining Corenswet in the movie is Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luther) and Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner).

House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock is also rumored to be starring as Kara Zor-El.

A release date for Superman: Legacy is yet to be confirmed but it’s expected to land on Earth from Krypton sometime next year.

The writer who publicly defended Henry Cavill’s views was fired by Marvel for unreasonable reasons

But it seems that Beau DeMayo’s extracurricular pursuits might have landed him in hot water with Marvel!

Comic books and superhero flicks are no strangers to controversy, and the most recent drama to surface concerns Beau DeMayo, the writer of Disney’s upcoming animated show, X-Men ‘97.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel appears to have fired DeMayo, an openly gay writer, who previously made headlines for taking Henry Cavill’s side in The Witcher controversy.

Well, it appears that DeMayo’s extracurricular activities may have gotten him into trouble with Marvel executives. Indeed, he was let go by Marvel for allegedly creating an OnlyFans account.

Beau DeMayo (via Beau DeMayo’s Instagram)

In addition to working on The Witcher, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, De Mayo was previously the producer and writer for Moon Knight, another Marvel television series. Both Marvel and DeMayo’s representatives declined to comment to the outlet about the firing, which reportedly happened early last week.

Creator of X-Men ‘97 Beau DeMayo Fired Before Disney+ Series Debut?

The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Marvel Studios fired writer-producer Beau DeMayo just before the premiere of the Disney+ Marvel TV series X-Men ’97.

Growing up in an adopted family as a gay Black man (see ET), DeMayo also wrote for Moon Knight and helped with early drafts of the upcoming Blade film. However, THR reported that Marvel and DeMayo had called it quits as of last week. According to the report, DeMayo’s Instagram account was deleted and his business email was deactivated.

    X-Men ‘97

Although the show’s crew was informed of his departure, an official reason for his firing has not yet been provided. Marvel declined to comment when THR reached out to them. According to the outlet, DeMayo is no longer booking press for the impending X-Men ’97 premiere or attending it, which is why this situation is different.

When his Instagram page was live, DeMayo answered a lot of fan questions concerning the X-Men. It looks like his OnlyFans account has also been deleted. That being stated, Pop Tingz speculated that he was fired for allegedly creating an account on OnlyFans.

In addition to his Marvel credits, DeMayo wrote several episodes of The Witcher on Netflix.

The Witcher: Beau DeMayo Earlier Defended Henry Cavill’s Stance

Beau DeMayo and Henry Cavill both expressed their strong support for the original work of The Witcher and demanded that the Netflix adaptation treat it as such.

The former member of the writing team, Beau DeMayo, who wrote two episodes of The Witcher and the anime Nightmare of the Wolf, commented on some of the attitudes he felt were present back when he was working on The Witcher regarding the books.

    Henry Cavill in The Witcher

As part of a Q&A session about the process of putting together the writing team for his upcoming animated X-Men 97 project for Marvel, DeMayo answered a question on Instagram Story (via The Direct). He retorted that his requirement for the new writers was that they “had to be fans” of the X-Men. He then went into further detail about his previous work on projects with well-established fandoms:

“I’ve been on show – namely Witcher – where some of the writers were not [fans] or actively disliked the books and games (even actively mocking the source material). It’s a recipe for disaster and bad morale. Fandom as a litmus test checks egos, and makes all the long nights worth it. You have to respect the work before you’re allowed to add to its legacy.”

He did not mention names, of course. That is a significant statement, though.

We can only hope that Marvel will change their mind and welcome DeMayo back into the fold in the interim. A universe as vast and diverse as the Marvel Cinematic Universe must have room for a writer with a side gig on OnlyFans?

The first two episodes of X-Men ’97 will stream on Disney+ on March 20, 2024. The remaining ten episodes of the first season will be released every week until May 15.

Controversy surrounding Henry Cavill, not all Marvel fans are happy with him

Henry Cavill’s Rumored Deadpool 3 Appearance Has Fans Frustrated
Henry Cavill | Batman vs SupermanHenry Cavill | DCEU
Per semi-reliable scooper @CanWeGetToast, the Man of Steel Star, who was rumored to make his MCU debut soon, will play everyone’s favorite Canadian in the Deadpool threequel. However, not everyone is happy with the rumors of Henry Cavill being brought into the MCU to play a variant of Wolverine in the threequel, as it could be a tremendous waste of his potential.

Considering fans have been asking for his arrival in the MCU since his exit from the DC universe, it’s reasonable to see why fans aren’t jovial about having him play a minor part in the Ryan Reynolds-led film.

    Taking to Reddit, fans expressed:
“Why waste him on a tiny role”

“He’s exec producer and starring in a Warhammer 40k show. That’ll take up a huge chunk of his time. Might not have time for both, that said, would be dope if he was permanent.”

    “Should be Sentry”

“Man’s entire career is based on being wasted on the material.”

“Deadpool is gonna shoot him in the face immediately isn’t he?”

However, keeping in mind that we’re still yet to get Earth-616’s Logan, the MOS Star might become MCU’s Wolverine moving forward if the aforementioned rumors are true.

Henry Cavill Would’ve Loved to Play Captain Britain

Interestingly, similar to fan sentiments, who expressed that Cavill would be perfect to play Captain Britain in the MCU, the Argylle Star once expressed he’d be down to play the character. While the actor stressed he wasn’t interested in playing a Marvel character that someone has played before,  the actor did entertain the rumors of playing Captain Britain at the time.
captain britainCaptain Britain | Marvel Comics
    He told The Hollywood Reporter:
“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that – like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”
If the rumor of his appearance is true, it seems Ryan Reynolds might’ve made an offer to Cavill he couldn’t refuse, which isn’t unlikely, as he also got Brad Pitt to appear in the sequel back in 2018.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theatres on 26 July 2024.
