James Gunn drops the debunking hammer in The Batman 2, casting the fan-favorite Marvel star as the villain

The DC Studios chief assured fans that he was aware of what stage the films in the franchise were at.

Gunn recently debunked a rumor about the casting of a former Marvel star to play Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman: Part II. Narcos star Boyd Holbrook was rumored to have joined the cast of the Robert Pattinson starrer as Two-Face. However, Gunn quickly squashed the rumor, saying that the news report was fake.

While James Gunn’s new DCU essentially rebooted the Extended Universe that was kickstarted by Zack Snyder, some of the ‘Elseworld’ stories remained unaffected by his onboarding as the new chief of DC Studios. This meant that films such as The Batman and Joker were not affected by the reboot as they were not part of the main continuity.

The Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker has been active on Threads since the pre-production of the first DCU film Superman (previously Superman: Legacy). He has often dispelled rumors and fake news arising about the franchise’s developments, including casting and new film announcements. Recently, he debunked a rumor about Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II.

An exclusive report by Medium revealed that actor Boyd Holbrook had been cast as Harvey Dent a.k.a Two-Face in the film opposite Robert Pattinson. The actor was known for his role as DEA Agent Steve Murphy in the Netflix series Narcos. He also starred in The Sandman as Corinthian. However, his most popular character is that of Donald Pierce in the Marvel/Fox film Logan.

While fans speculated about the actor’s involvement in the film, James Gunn was quick to dismiss the rumor. In response to a fanon Threads asking Gunn if Holbrook had been cast whale attaching the article by Medium, the filmmaker said that the report was fake. Fans seemed to have been disappointed with the development.

The filmmaker also responded to a post by Medium which mentioned that Gunn did not have control over the ‘Elseworld’ films. He mentioned that all new DC films would come under the studio.

Boyd Holbrook’s rumored casting as Harvey Dent was the first report of a new actor for The Batman: Part II. The Matt Reeves directorial was greenlit in April 2022 after the first film received critical and commercial success (via THR). Robert Pattinson was set to return as the Caped Crusader while other characters from the first film were also rumored to reprise the role.

While the film was initially set for an October 2025 release, The Batman: Part II was pushed to October 2026 due to delays in filming. According to Jeff Sneider, production was set to begin in April 2025 as the makers wanted to get the script locked in to ramp up the casting process. Many villains have been rumored to be a part of the film, including Clayface and Hush (via Comic Book).

Apart from Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, who played James Gordon in the first film, as well as Paul Dano, who played the Riddler, might reprise their roles. The ending of The Batman also introduced Barry Keoghan’s Joker in Arkham Asylum, with a deleted scene extending his presence. The actor might have a larger appearance in the sequel along with other villains.

WB’s latest deal with Timothée Chalamet sparks Nightwing rumors but Dune 2 Star is better suited for another superhero

Timothée Chalamet might end up portraying the role of Batman in DCU.

Throughout the years, a lot of stars have portrayed the role of The Dark Knight, aka Batman, in multiple media franchises. However, we have only witnessed the character of Bruce Wayne as the Caped Crusader in live-action roles and not many other versions of Batman have made it to the big screen.

However, as Timothée Chalamet recently signed a new deal with Warner Bros Studios, it is speculated that the actor might finally bring a different version of Batman to the big screen.

Timothée Chalamet is one of the most established actors in the industry and has been making a lot of headlines after he recently reprised his role as Paul Atreides in the movie, Dune: Part Two. The movie has been a massive commercial success at the box office so far and has also largely received positive reviews from fans and critics.

After the success of movies like Wonka and Dune: Part Two, it seems like Warner Bros Studios are all set to continue making more movies with Timothée Chalamet. As revealed by Variety, Chalamet signed a multi-year deal with Warner Bros Studio earlier this week and will also be enjoying a salary hike when he makes these movies.

The CEOs of Warner Bros Motion Picture Group, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy also recently released a joint statement and talked about how the Little Women actor has decided to sign a multi-year deal with Warner Bros Studio. They said,

“Over the last few years, we have admired not only Timothée’s commitment to his craft, which is evident in the range and depth of his varied roles, but also his unwavering dedication to give 100% of his time and attention to every project he has made here at Warner Bros. and elsewhere.

His collaboration on the campaigns for ‘Dune’ and ‘Wonka’ is something we all enjoyed immensely, and the results speak for themselves.”
Chalamet’s deal with Warner Bros Studio has also sparked rumors of the actor also becoming a part of James Gunn‘s DCU in the future.

Timothée Chalamet might portray the role of this iconic character in James Gunn’s DCU

A live-action adaption movie of the popular DC team, Teen Titans is allegedly under development as it was recently revealed by The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. After the announcement, fans quickly started speculating which A-listers the studio might choose for the characters.

Later, it was revealed that Timothée Chalamet had also signed a multi-year deal with Warner Bros Studio. The fans quickly started speculating if Chalamet would be portraying the role of Dick Grayson aka Nightwing in the upcoming Teen Titans movie.

However, Chalamet might be suited more to play the role of Terry McGinnis’s Batman in the Batman Beyond movie (if it is ever made). We have witnessed many portrayals of Bruce Wayne’s Batman over the years, it sure would be great to witness some other version of Batman for a change.

An artist who goes by the username @kibar.art on Instagram recently shared his fan-art version of Timothée Chalamet as Terry McGinnis’s Batman and it looks perfect.

Terry McGinnis is shown as a teenage version of Batman who is being trained by Bruce Wayne himself to become the new guardian angel of Gotham City in the animated series, Batman Beyond.

Although there are no updates about the character becoming a part of the DCU at the moment, it won’t come as a huge surprise if the character catches the eye of DCU Boss, James Gunn in the near future.

Henry Cavill admits what everyone knows about him and Taylor Swift: It’s ‘amazing’

Over the past few months, an interesting rumour has been making rounds on the internet, suggesting that Taylor Swift is the original writer of the book that Henry Cavill’s latest film Argylle is based on.

A section of fans was almost convinced that the Cruel Summer singer was Elly Conway, the mysterious writer behind the novel. Not just that, fans also believed that the novel was officially adopted into a film by director Matthew Vaughan. Later, the director himself debunked the rumours.

Following this, the Man of Steel actor’s name has once again been linked to Taylor Swift over Cavill’s upcoming film, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. As the movie is all set to mark the same release date as Swift’s upcoming eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, fans wonder if the actor is also a die-hard ‘Swiftie’.

Cavill, in a recent conversation with E!News, opened up on the same and admitted to being a fan of Taylor Swift.

As the interviewer mentioned that Henry Cavill’s upcoming film’s release date clashes with Taylor Swift’s album release date, Hero Fiennes Tiffin explained that “it was deliberate” following which others including Cavill admitted that they are all “massive swifties.”

Further, as Tiffin along with Alex Pettyfer emphasised that director Guy Ritchie is also a Taylor Swift fan, Cavill added, “Yeah, he was super excited about that date particularly. He was like ‘You know what? Let’s work together, let’s work in sync.”

Later, as the interviewer asked about Henry Cavill’s name being linked to the Love Story singer, he finally said, “That’s the second time I’ve been tied in with Taylor. Because Argylle.. everyone thought that the book was written by her, and so.. now this,” further adding, “I was never not a Swiftie. She is magnificent.”

While all the rumours began last year, Argylle director Vaughn, in an interview with Rolling Stone, said, “There is a real book … and it’s a really good book. And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it’s not Taylor Swift… I did read the conspiracies and I was like, ‘Wow, they don’t leave a stone unturned!’ But it’s not Taylor Swift. She definitely didn’t write the book.”

Colin Ferrell gave major update on spin-off series of The Batman franchise in the DC Universe.

The 47-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as villainous mob boss Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot aka The Penguin in the upcoming titular Max series.

Speaking to MovieZine, he shared: “It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think — it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it. It’s incredibly violent.

The Penguin first appeared as a villain in 2014 Netflix series, Gotham, and later made a brief cameo in Robert Pattinson starrer The Batman in 2022.

In the 2022 film, Oswald’s ruler Carmine Falcone, played by John Turturro, bites the dust against Bruce Wayne during the climax, leaving Colin’s character alone to pursue his own ambitions.

“It’s one man’s rise to what he’s always dreamed of inhabiting, which is a certain power or social status,” Ferrell explained.

“The death of Carmine Falcone at the end of [‘The Batman’] leaves this vacuum in Gotham to be filled, and so there are various people that are grabbing for that power,” shared the award-winning actor.

“This is Oswald’s journey trying to rise to the top through extraordinary obstacles, he added.

In Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” Henry Cavill steps into the iconic role of Clark Kent, the alien superhero known as Superman. While the film is filled with epic action sequences and dazzling special effects, it is Cavill’s portrayal of Clark’s humanity that truly shines through. Nowhere is this more evident than in the heart-wrenching scene where Clark makes the agonizing decision to reveal his alien identity in order to save his adoptive mother, Martha Kent.

Facing off against the relentless General Zod, portrayed with chilling intensity by Michael Shannon, Clark finds himself torn between his duty to protect humanity and his love for his adoptive family. In a moment of desperation, he surrenders himself to Zod, knowing that doing so will ensure Martha’s safety. It’s a gut-wrenching moment that showcases Cavill’s ability to convey Clark’s internal conflict with subtlety and nuance.

It’s a hauntingly beautiful scene that showcases Cavill’s ability to convey complex emotions with subtlety and restraint.

What makes this moment so powerful is the contrast between Geralt’s outward stoicism and the raw emotion bubbling beneath the surface. Cavill’s performance is a masterclass in understated intensity, drawing viewers into Geralt’s world and making them feel the weight of his grief as if it were their own.

    Conclusion: Henry Cavill’s Emotional Depth
