Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Breaks Silence in Joker 2 Teaser: Anticipation Builds for New Trailer Drop

A new Joker 2 teaser has emerged online, which includes Lady Gaga speaking as her version of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix-led sequel.

Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn is heard for the first time in a new Joker: Folie à Deux teaser, giving the world a taste of her version of the iconic DC character. One of the upcoming Elseworlds movies from Warner Bros.

Discovery and DC Studios is the highly anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux film, featuring Phoenix back as the Clown Prince of Crime. Original Joker director Todd Phillips is back to help flesh out his own little DC Universe as he continues to explore Arthur Fleck’s story.

As Joker: Folie à Deux will be arriving this fall, the official TikTok account for the film from Warner Bros. Pictures gave a little sneak preview of Gaga’s new iteration of Harley Quinn, who will be one of the prominent Joker: Folie à Deux cast members in the DC sequel.

The attached brief audio clip includes a harmonious tune with Gaga’s Harley Quinn saying, “You can do anything you want…you are Joker.” This is likely coming from the first Joker: Folie à Deux trailer, which will be released on Tuesday, April 9, as officially revealed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Everything We Know About Joker: Folie À Deux

For the first time in the superhero movie landscape, Joker: Folie à Deux will make history as it will be the first musical film in the comic book landscape. According to a recent report, there will be at least 15 numbers featured in the movie, which will mostly consist of preexisting songs. The title Joker: Folie à Deux is loosely translated into “shared psychosis” in French, most likely referring to the arc that Harley and Arthur will be on together.

The Joker: Folie à Deux story will take place sometime after the 2019 film, following Arthur’s life after he became a known public entity in Gotham City. With Arkham Asylum set to have a crucial role in the movie, it is very likely that most of the Joker: Folie à Deux plot will be based there, potentially with Harley serving as his psychiatrist before their shared chapter begins. Zazie Beetz will also reprise the role of Sophie Dumond from 2019’s Joker, although the nature of her involvement has yet to be specified.

There have also been hints that Joker: Folie à Deux story will introduce another major Batman villain, as signs were spotted on set with “Dent Is A Clown,” which is likely referring to Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face.

While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, a current popular theory is that Harry Lawtey’s mystery character is actually meant to be a young Harvey. Hopefully, as the Joker: Folie à Deux trailer drops next week, a lot more answers will be given about the mysterious DC sequel.

  • Forgotten Zack Snyder’s $187M Sci-Fi Nolan Called a Film ‘Ahead of Its Time’

Forgotten Zack Snyder’s $187M Sci-Fi Nolan Called a Film ‘Ahead of Its Time’

Love him or hate him, Zack Snyder has changed the landscape of superhero movies.

When you think of a Zack Snyder superhero movie, you probably think of his work in the DCU, where he tried valiantly to bring a dark, tinted edge to Superman and the Justice League. Unless you are a die-hard Snyder apologist, you probably have to admit that the results have been…er… mixed.

Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is the worst offender, prompting memes almost the minute it was released to its half-enraged, half-amused audience (‘MARTHAAA!’). On the other hand, the Snyder cut of Justice League got a relatively warm response.
Forgotten Zack Snyder's $187M Sci-Fi Nolan Called a Film 'Ahead of Its Time'
It’s easy to be a snob about Snyder’s DCU, but there’s also no denying that the director brings a distinctive visual flair to all of his films. And the members of the Justice League aren’t the only superheroes that Synder has brought to the big screen. Back in 2009, he directed a dark graphic novel adaptation – and Christopher Nolan ( Batman Begins) called the result ‘ahead of its time’.

    Alan Moore’s Masterpiece

Time’s list of 100 Best Novels includes one in comic book form: Watchmen, written by comics legend Alan Moore in 1986. In the alternate world of Watchmen, costumed vigilantes were celebrated in the 40s and 50s and altered the tide of many world events, including the Vietnam War and the Nixon scandal. In the 80s, masked vigilantism is outlawed and most superheroes are retired or working for the government.
When someone appears to be murdering former superheroes, the remainder of the Watchmen team try to figure out what’s going on and who’s behind it. Moore’s deconstruction of the superhero genre is dark, gritty, and disturbing. He asks what would happen in a world where ordinary people were gifted with the abilities and start power of Batman. The answer is: nothing good. Forgotten Zack Snyder's $187M Sci-Fi Nolan Called a Film 'Ahead of Its Time' - image 1

    Failure to Launch

Since 1986, there have been many attempts to get a film adaptation of Watchmen off the ground. Director Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus) tried to make it work for a while; so did Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, Mother!). But the ambitious project never took off.
That is, until 2006. That was when the ball started rolling again, this time with a hot new director attached. Snyder was chosen to helm Watchmen because of the eye-catching, totally unique style that he showcased in the blockbuster 300.
That film, about 300 Spartans holding off an invading army, featured everything that would become Snyder’s trademark: super slow-motion action shots, bold splashes of color in grimy color palettes, and abs. Lots and lots of abs.

Snyder brought all that and more to Watchmen with a surprisingly faithful adaptation that cemented his place in Hollywood.

    Before Its Time?

Watchmen was both praised and criticized for its adherence to the graphic novel. Some were amazed to find that here was a movie that didn’t attempt to sanitize, commercialize, or simplify one of the greatest books ever written. Others found that the devotion to the comic book meant that the movie felt like an imitation, rather than its own thing. Watchmen holds a mediocre 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film barely made back its budget at the box office, and was overall a disappointment for its studio. But according to another famous superhero director, the real problem was that Watchmen simply came too early.

Christopher Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter:
‘I’ve always believed Watchmen was ahead of its time. The idea of a superhero team, which it so brilliantly subverts, wasn’t yet a thing in movies. It would have been fascinating to see it released post-Avengers.’
Given the chaos over at DC and the failure of the DCU franchise to really take off, it might be some time before we see another Snyder superhero movie. But it’s nice to remember that at least once in his career, the man got it right.

  • Robert Pattinson’s Batman Universe: First Look at Recast Gotham Character

Robert Pattinson’s Batman Universe: First Look at Recast Gotham Character

The new trailer for The Penguin  series, which takes place in the same universe as Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, gave audiences the first look at a recast villain.

Ahead of the project, it was known that a big-name baddie would be getting recast for the new streaming series. The criminal in question was Salvatore Maroni, who was arrested offscreen before the events of The Batman, and whose arrest by corrupt cops led to the collapse of his criminal empire and the rise of Carmine Falcone.

For the new show, the character will be played by Clancy Brown. He also seems to be playing a far more significant, active role in the proceedings this time around.

First Look at Clancy Brown’s Villain in The Penguin

The recent trailer for ‘s The Penguin, which can be seen here, gave viewers their first look at Clancy Brown’s recast crime boss, Salvatore Maroni.

Maroni is only briefly seen sitting across from Colin Farrell’s Penguin in a jail.

The Penguin, Clancy Brown, Colin Farrell, Salvatore Maroni

Not much can be learned from the photos alone, but the villain sure seems entertained at the very least.

The Penguin, Clancy Brown, Salvatore Maroni

The most viewers saw of the character previously was in a single newspaper snippet during The Batman, though his name was mentioned numerous times.

    The Batman, Salvatore Maroni

The full trailer can be seen below, with Salvatore Maroni featured for a split second at the 1:04 mark:

What Will Salvatore Maroni Be Up to in The Penguin?

Salvatore Maroni’s important supporting role in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, despite never being truly seen, makes him the perfect subject of further exploration for this new television show.

The power vacuum his arrest created was responsible for lots of chaos in Gotham City. It’s only fitting that Colin Farrell’s Penguin needs to speak with him as he tries to grab his own foothold in the city’s underworld scene.

But will Oswald Cobblepot be working with Maroni or going against him? It’s hard to say currently, as either could make sense.

Either way, anyone familiar with Clancy Brown’s previous work (The Shawshank Redemption, Billions, Invincible) will know that the actor is a great choice for the part. Maybe if things go well for his character, he couldn’t even get to show up in The Batman: Part II.

The Penguin is expected to drop on later in 2024.

  • The True Story Behind The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Explained

The True Story Behind The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Explained

Did the events of Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare actually take place during World War II?

Guy Ritchie’s next project takes his fascination with gentlemen to the heart of World War II in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The project has a phenomenal cast, including Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Cary Elwes, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, and Eiza González. Alongside that impressive talent, legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also overseeing the movie.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare tells the story of the Special Operations Executive, a secret task force established by Winston Churchill to win the Second World War. This unofficial task force is sent to Fernando Po to sabotage supply lines to Nazi U-Boats. This would allow America to join the Allies, and help defeat the Nazis. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is bound to be packed with spectacular action, as the first trailer showcases. But, is it based on a true story?

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Is Based on a Real Mission and Team

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is heavily inspired by real events and people. The Special Operations Executive (SOE) was a real task force created by Winston Churchill. The group was formed in 1940, one year into the Second World War. While The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare only shows one of their missions, Operation Postmaster, the SOE operated for years across Europe, and was responsible for sabotage, reconnaissance, and aiding local resistance fighters.

The SOE was formed from the merger of three British intelligence services during WWII; Department EH (tasked with creating propaganda), Section D (formed by the SIS/MI6), and GS (created by the British War Office). The new task force was led by Brigadier Gubbins (Cary Elwes), who also went by the moniker ‘M’ — more on that later. To avoid targeting by German bombers during the Blitz, the SOE offices were scattered across Britain, utilizing small houses and flats as their bases of operation, instead of discernible office buildings.

Operation Postmaster was a real mission undertaken by the SOE. The mission involved sailing to Fernando Po while avoiding German U-boats and British war vessels. Once there, the team was tasked with stealing two Nazi cargo liners — which were used for re-stocking Nazi U-boats — and towing them to Lagos. During the mission, the SOE also captured the Italian merchant ship, the Duchessa d’Aosta.

The SOE seen in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a motley crew of renegade soldiers, closely resembling the likes of The Suicide Squad. This depiction is slightly exaggerated in Guy Ritchie’s movie. However, most of the characters seen in the film are based on real people. Gus March-Phillipps (Henry Cavill) was a real soldier and led Operation Postmaster during World War II. Alan Ritchson’s character, Anders Lassen, also caught the eye of audiences in the trailers, thanks to the actor’s imposing size, and his character’s decision to use a bow and arrow. Lassen was also a real soldier and was nicknamed the “Robin Hood Commando” due to his unique choice of weaponry.

Outside of Operation Postmaster, the SOE would have a massive influence on the Allied victory. The group partook in countless missions throughout the Second World War, many of which are still redacted from public records. Interestingly, their story also ties into one of 2023’s biggest blockbuster events. While Oppenheimer told the story of America’s race to develop the Atom Bomb, the SOE was busy sabotaging the Nazi’s efforts. In 1943, the SOE destroyed the Norsk Hydro Plant in Norway. The plant was responsible for producing ‘heavy water’ (water formed of denser hydrogen atoms) for the Nazis’ atomic bomb program.

James Bond Was Inspired by the Special Operations Executive

Upon watching The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, or scrolling through its IMDb page, the name Ian Fleming keeps reappearing. The famous British novelist is best known for creating the 007 series of books, which were later adapted into the James Bond franchise.

Ian Fleming was actually a member of the Special Operations Executive. While he did not fight directly with the team during Operation Postmaster, Fleming was a member of the Royal Navy’s Intelligence Department and joined the SOE as an intelligence operative. Ian Fleming is portrayed by English actor Freddie Fox (The Gentlemen) in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Following World War II, Ian Fleming fictionalized his time with the SOE, creating the beloved 007 spy novels we know today.

James Bond himself is believed to be inspired by Major Gus March-Phillips (ironically played by Henry Cavill). The head of MI6 in Fleming’s 007 universe is famously known as “M.” This was directly taken from Brigadier Gubbins’s own moniker. Interestingly, Cary Elwes’ grandfather was famously in the SOE and worked under Gubbins. Nearly 80 years later, Elwes is bringing his grandfather’s boss to life on screen.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfaredoes alter certain characters and events slightly. During MovieWeb’s exclusive interview with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, he addressed the changes Guy Ritchie made in bringing the story to life. “All the historical events came out of the script, obviously… There wasn’t much humor in the original story, so he brought all that to it, which makes it so much more fun.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare hits theaters on April 19.

According to a podcast interview shared via X, the actress is seen offering sweet compliments to her ex-boyfriend. Addressing his passion for his stagecraft, Carano’s words seemingly proved why Cavill was the perfect Superman.

Gina Carano’s Short-Lived Romance With Henry Cavill

Securing a place in Henry Cavill’s rather short dating list, The Mandalorian alum Gina Carano enjoyed a fulfilling romance with the actor. Beginning to date in the fall of 2012, as per US Weekly, the duo made headlines after sources revealed their romance to the outlet. According to reports, as things were getting serious between Cavill and Carano, insiders opened up about their romance.

However, soon within two years of dating, Henry Cavill and Gina Carano seemingly split. Breaking off their relationship in 2014, the duo had an amicable split. Thereafter, the actress has often spoken fondly of her romance with the DC actor, during several interviews.

According to a recent interview the PDB podcast, Gina Carano is seen offering sweet compliments to her ex-boyfriend Henry Cavill. Opening up about her short-lived romance and amicable split, the actress is heard talking about the best aspects of Cavill. Addressing his hard-working nature and passion for stagecraft, Carano even spoke about Cavill as Superman.
“How was he by the way? You talking about Henry Cavill, right? Personality wise he gives me the vibe of a very cool cat.” podcast host Patrick Bet-David noted.

“He is wonderful. He’s a professional. He’s just passionate, I’d say… you know I think he’s just so passionate like you know in Batman vs Superman, you’ve got well Zack Snyder who’s amazing. He’s a super Batman fan, right? So Ben Affleck’s got the writer. And so Henry is over here, we gotta get some — we wanna make sure that we don’t forget about Superman. And so he was such a wonderful Superman. And he loved that more than anything.” Carano shared.

Henry Cavill as Superman in a still from Batman vs Superman

Speaking about Henry Cavill’s passion for work and how much effort he put into his character as Superman, Gina Carano spoke words that touched fans. Just like the actress noted during the podcast, Cavill indeed put his all into his role and turned Superman immortal in fans’ hearts.

Henry Cavill Was the Best Superman DC Could Ever Have

Despite Henry Cavill turning Superman into an immortal superhero for DC fans, and gradually becoming synonymous with the role, he was eventually replaced when James Gunn took over DC studios. When the co-CEO first broke the news that Cavill would not appear as Kal-El in the upcoming Superman reboot, fans were crushed. A firestorm of criticism began against Gunn, as fans considered the decision ridiculous.

Lamenting over the news of Henry Cavill’s replacement as Superman, fans almost began boycotting DC. Well, the reaction was certainly not overdramatic, for we all believe that Cavill served as the perfect Superman, during his tenure. Given the actor’s dedication, as noted by Gina Carano during the podcast, no one can replace Cavill as Kal-El. For David Corenswet, who is set to appear next, it’s going to be a rather difficult task to fill in his predecessor’s big shoes.

Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel

Henry Cavill not only looked like the comic-book version of Superman but he was also built like him. The actor’s physical appearance was truly phenomenal and very similar to what die-hard comic-book fans have imagined. Meanwhile, his prolific acting skills, personality, and determination are something that made him stand out as Superman. Whether pulling off the duality of Superman and Clark Kent or giving the character heart, there’s no doubt that Cavill was perfect as the DC character.

  • CD Projekt Red’s Bold Gambit: Could The Witcher 4 Be Redemption?

CD Projekt Red’s Bold Gambit: Could The Witcher 4 Be Redemption?

CD Projekt Red has given its word that The Witcher 4 will be a new experience.

The next installment in The Witcher franchise seems to be on the right track.

During a recent earnings briefing, Michał Nowakowski, the joint CEO of CD Projekt Red, shed light on the development process of The Witcher 4 and hinted at the company’s bold risk-taking strategies.

When questioned about the timeline for the game’s release, Nowakowski stated that the company was reluctant to reveal precise dates, as it was never part of their marketing approach.

Nowakowski also discussed the risks associated with introducing new elements into the upcoming installment of the Witcher games.

He acknowledges that developing a new game always means taking on some creative risks, especially when attempting to push boundaries and explore new territories. Regardless, the company is pushing forward. He confirms:

We will be adding new gameplay elements and new mechanics that you have not seen in our previous games.

One of the most exciting points mentioned in the brief was the company’s intention to build upon the foundation by introducing novel gameplay mechanics. He clarifies:

You should not be expecting ‘The Witcher 3 in new clothing’ of sorts; of course, we’re building on the shoulders of what came before, and on what we’ve learned, but we will be adding new gameplay elements. Doing such things is always a risk; it’s not just repeating what was done before.

While the absence of a concrete release date is a little tough to stomach, witnessing CD Projekt Red’s commitment to creating the next Witcher game that isn’t just a reskin shows that the wait will be worth it.

Expectations Are High for The Fourth Installment

The Netflix Witcher series was a disaster, and the franchise desperately needs a win

TW3 is a standout in the RPG genre, and in gaming as a whole. While the combat could have been better, it was a joy to play as Geralt and use his Witcher powers to interact with and shape the world around him.

CD Projekt Red nailed the open-world vibe with the game. It wasn’t Skyrim-big, but it had enough stuff to keep you busy—saving people, chasing quests, snagging treasure, and even bumping into random NPCs for some unexpected fun.

Now, with the Netflix series fiasco, it losing a gem like Henry Cavill, The Witcher 4 could be the ultimate redemption arc. It’s CD Projekt Red’s chance to sweep up the mess, sprinkle some magic, and make another genre hit.

What are you hoping to see in the next Witcher game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

With Superman being recast for upcoming DC movies and Henry Cavill stepping down from The Witcher series, speculation about his next big franchise role is rife on the internet. While rumors suggest possibilities like playing James Bond or characters in upcoming Marvel movies such as Captain Britain and Doctor Doom, an impressive piece of fan art has sparked my interest in seeing Cavill as Wolverine. The uncertainty surrounding the Justice League actor’s next move adds to the excitement, and I can’t help but hope he transitions from DC to Marvel to embody this iconic Weapon X.

A striking piece of fan art shared on Instagram depicts Cavill brilliantly reimagined as Logan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given Cavill’s iconic portrayal of The Man of Steel in the now-defunct DCEU, his transition to another superhero role feels timely, particularly with David Corenswet stepping into the Superman role for James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe. The artist, known as @21xfour on the platform, has skillfully crafted a vision of Cavill wielding the adamantium claws and sporting the mutton chops famously worn by Hugh Jackman for over 25 years.

Wow, what an incredible piece of art! The idea of someone other than Hugh Jackman stepping into the role of Wolverine might initially seem unthinkable, given Jackman’s iconic portrayal. However, when you combine this fan art with Henry Cavill’s impressive track record, it’s easy to see how he could do justice to the character.

The notion of Cavill, known for his roles in “Man From U.N.C.L.E,” taking on the legendary X-Man isn’t as far-fetched as it might seem. With details about the forthcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie being kept under wraps, speculation runs wild, fueling excitement and anticipation. A recent rumor even suggests Cavill could potentially don the claws as a variant of Logan, adding to the intrigue surrounding the project.

While we should approach such rumors with caution, the prospect of Cavill adopting Wolverine’s iconic look, especially after seeing this fan art, has fans eagerly awaiting the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in the 2024 movie schedule on July 26.

Whether Cavill joins the MCU or not remains uncertain, but fans won’t have to wait long to see him in his next high-profile project on the big screen. In “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” Cavill portrays Gus March-Phillips, the real-life inspiration for James Bond. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the action-packed film tells the true story of a secret British group during World War II whose unconventional tactics against the Germans played a pivotal role in shaping modern covert operations.

With such exciting projects on the horizon, including the possibility of Cavill as Wolverine, fans have plenty to look forward to. In the meantime, catch “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare” in theaters on April 16 for a thrilling cinematic experience.

Henry Cavill is the actor at the top of the list that author Stephenie Meyer most wants to play Edward Cullen. She already had in mind a handsome Edward played by Cavill, and Twilight would be a potential project by the time the film adaptation was developed.

However, the character Edward Cullen is a vampire “disguising” a 17-year-old high school teenager, while Henry Cavill is now 24 years old. Therefore, the “number one choice” in author Meyer’s heart was probably not approved just because Henry Cavill… was too old to play the role.

The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support.

Henry Cavill was not allowed to play Edward because he was too “mature”.

At the time author Stephenie Meyer announced that Summit Entertainment had acquired the rights to her book to turn it into a movie, she expressed her regret on her personal blog: “The most disappointing thing for me is is losing my perfect Edward. Henry Cavill is 24 years old this year. Let us have a quiet moment to regret…”

According to Variety, in a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast , Henry Cavill said that he didn’t know that Meyer considered him the “perfect Edward” until after the first Twilight movie.

Herny Cavill was “removed from the game” without even knowing it.

“I didn’t know anything about that movie. I didn’t know that they wanted to cast me in that role, and the Internet wasn’t as popular a tool as it is now, so I didn’t know until later. I was like, ‘Oh okay, that would be great,’” said “Edward Cullen.”

The actor also shared that after watching the first Twilight (2008), he felt that he was not strong enough to compete with Robert Pattinson, because Robert really suited the role. In fact, The Twilight Saga has become one of the most classic vampire-themed movie franchises of all time, and Robert Pattinson’s role as Edward Cullen has contributed significantly to that success. Thanks to this role, Robert was officially “promoted” to the current A-list star.

Edward Cullen is the role of a lifetime for Robert Pattinson.

Although he was not accepted for the role in The Twilight Saga due to age issues, Henry Cavill later participated in a series of other famous franchises such as Mission: Impossible and the famous role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe. Most recently, the actor caused a stir with the image of “monster hunter” Geralt as if he came out of the original work in The Witcher series .
