  • Henry Cavill on His Warhammer Hobby, the Least Searched Questions About Him & Grilling on Set

Henry Cavill on His Warhammer Hobby, the Least Searched Questions About Him & Grilling on Set

In the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, where actors often portray larger-than-life characters on the silver screen, there exists a man whose interests extend far beyond the realm of celebrity.

Henry Cavill, known for his iconic roles as Sherlock Holmes, Geralt of Rivia in “The Witcher,” and Superman, reveals a lesser-known side to his persona – that of a passionate Warhammer enthusiast and amateur painter.

Cavill’s journey into the world of Warhammer began in the late ’80s, during his formative years at boarding school. Deprived of modern video games, Cavill and his brothers turned to tabletop gaming as a source of entertainment. This led to a deep fascination with Warhammer, a strategic miniature wargame where players build and command armies of fantastical creatures and warriors.

However, Cavill’s involvement with Warhammer goes beyond mere gameplay. He is an avid painter of Warhammer miniatures, meticulously crafting each figure with intricate detail. In a recent interview, Cavill humorously described his collection of unpainted figures as the “gray pile of shame,” highlighting the challenges and frustrations inherent in the hobby.

Despite his towering physique and leading man status, Cavill embraces his nerdy side with enthusiasm. His dedication to Warhammer showcases a passion for creativity and craftsmanship that transcends the boundaries of Hollywood stardom. Whether he’s donning the cape of Superman or wielding a paintbrush, Cavill’s versatility as an actor and hobbyist continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Away from the spotlight, Cavill’s interests extend to culinary pursuits, as evidenced by his fondness for outdoor cooking. He boasts a unique setup known as the “wild kitchen,” where he prepares elaborate meals using charcoal or wood-fired grills. From Christmas dinners for 13 guests to succulent prime ribs, Cavill’s culinary skills rival his prowess on the battlefield of Warhammer.

In addition to his unconventional hobbies, Cavill remains grounded in his roots, hailing from the island of Jersey. Despite his international fame, he maintains a deep appreciation for the island’s natural beauty and agricultural heritage, including its famed Jersey cows.

As Cavill continues to conquer both the silver screen and the tabletop battlefield, he serves as a reminder that true passion knows no bounds. Whether he’s saving the world as a superhero or leading armies to victory in a fictional universe, Henry Cavill remains a larger-than-life figure both on and off the screen.

Super uncle: Henry Cavill shared an endearing anecdote about his nephew on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, on Thursday

The Tudors star was dressed in leather boots and a dark blue suit as he chatted with the silver haired talk show host.

Henry was clearly a doting uncle as he relayed a charming story about when his nephew first learned that he would be playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming reboot.

The actor said: ‘My nephew Thomas was so super excited… he ran to school.’

Supportive family: The 30-year-old actor said his brother Charlie thought that his casting as Superman was ‘awesome’

Charmer: Henry was clearly a doting uncle as he relayed a charming story about when his nephew first learned that he would be playing Superman

Adding a disclaimer before continuing the anecdote, Henry explained: ‘Now keep in mind Thomas has got a great reputation for telling stories and just making up stuff to the teacher [at school].’

The Immortals star continued: ‘So he goes to school dressed in a Superman outfit, because you know he’s all pumped, because his uncle is Superman.

‘And the teacher says, “Thomas why are you wearing this? You’re not supposed to wear this to school.”‘

Transformation: Henry claims he ate 5,000 calories a day while training for his turn as the caped hero

Henry went on to convey his nephew’s reply: ‘He says, “Well, because my uncle is Superman,” and she’s [the teacher] like, “Oh okay,” and she pulls him aside… he got in trouble.’

To which the 63-year-old comic legend said: ‘[She was like] “this is sad.”‘

But the onscreen superhero seemed to enjoy the outcome of the tale when his sister-in-law arrived and explained that the boy’s uncle ‘actually kind of is’ Superman.

Meanwhile, Cavill revealed in the new issue of Details magazine how he first met Man Of Steel co-star Russell Crowe, who plays his biological father, Jor-El, in the film, while he was at boarding school.

‘He was on campus filming Proof of Life…Everyone was standing in a semicircle, and I thought, “We look ridiculous, staring like he’s some kind of prize pony.”

‘So I walked up and said, ‘Hi, my name is Henry. I’m thinking of becoming an actor. What’s the acting world like?’ He said something like, ‘Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s not so great. It’s fun acting. And they pay well.’ Then everyone ran up and asked for autographs, and I turned to Russell and said, “Run.”‘

Duo: Zooey’s musical partner M. Ward played keyboards for the televised performance

Crowe later sent him a package with snacks, a rugby jersey, and a CD of the actor’s band with a note that read: ‘”Dear Henry, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’”

Cavill reminded Crowe of their first encounter while on set of the movie, saying: ‘I told him, “I was the fat one who didn’t ask for your autograph.” He looked at me blankly, and then he actually remembered.’

Man of Steel is released in the US and UK on June 14.

The ‘Man of Steel‘ star has given an update about ‘Warhammer 40,000‘. He said big things are happening about the live adaptation of the video game series.

“Warhammer is progressing very well,” Henry Cavill was quoted saying by US news agency Collider in its report. “Big things are happening, and we are very excited.”

The creative details regarding the project have not been disclosed by Amazon Prime has been rolling out big bucks for fantasy projects such as the critically acclaimed ‘Lord of the Rings’ prequel ‘The Rings of Power’,

It is pertinent to mention here that Henry Cavill had expressed his excitement about working on the ‘Warhammer‘ project. He said he was a lifelong fan of the franchise.

“I have loved ‘Warhammer‘ since I was boy, making this moment truly special for me. The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite an honour and responsibility. Games Workshop’s game series ‘Warhammer 40,000‘ follows a universe where there is only war and suffering with the prevalence of moral ambiguity.

There have been several attempts at adapting the game in other media but all of them have been unable to enjoy the success of the video games. An animated film ‘Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie‘ was released in 2010 and showed several iconic chapters in the game universe.

  • In the trap of a nerd’s ultimate desire, Henry Cavill recorded himself building a computer

In the trap of a nerd’s ultimate desire, Henry Cavill recorded himself building a computer

    Henry Cavill: Hot Nerd

Back in The Tudors days, Henry Cavill was a public nerd. He talked about fantasy novels and role-playing games in interviews, and did not try to hide that he is the quintessential nerd who grows up hot.

Then, he became Superman and suddenly, despite playing a King of the Nerds level character, he locked down that part of his persona and became a very boring, hot dishtowel sort of person.

Meghan O’Keefe and I used to lament to each other how Cavill got so boring, and wonder why it happened, when being a Hot Nerd would be a great public persona for a superhero actor.

Now, however, with Superman (mostly) in his rearview and fantasy-novel-based The Witcher happening, Cavill has resurrected his nerdiness for our consumption. The result? The ultimate nerd thirst trap: Henry Cavill building a computer.

Look, I know there was that whole weird thing where he dated a teenager (she was 19) and he wears a pinky ring, but IN THESE TIMES (*extreme doom voice*) can we just enjoy the wholesome spectacle of a hot gamer building a custom machine in front of his floral granny drapes?

It’s really nice! I like the way it lights up and displays the CPU! I’m a laptop girl myself, but I appreciate this gaming machine Cavill built, AND that he knows the power of a hot dude doing things with his hands.

He KNOWS what this looks like, he is totally playing to the camera. And it’s fun! It’s funny! The granny drapes are a great touch! Henry Cavill games in a room that hasn’t been redecorated since 1947, cute. THIS is the personality we missed from Cavill for so long, and I, for one, am glad to see it again.

I have rarely liked the movies Cavill has made, but if he’s going to commit to being a Hot Nerd in the 2020s, I am here for it. (Also, he was nice to my mom once, so I will always have a soft spot for Cavill.) He should really do something about that Babadook in his backyard, though.

Set photos from Enola Holmes 2 shows Henry Cavill looking handsome as ever in his character Sherlock Holmes. The Superman actor played the role of the iconic detective for the first time in the first instalment of the movie. Though the film focuses on Sherlock’s sister Enola, played by Millie Bobby Brown, the actor captured the hearts of the fans through his marvellous performance while providing a different take on the character.

Other than Cavill and Brown, Helena Bonham Carter and Sam Claflin will reprise their roles as Eudoria Holmes and Mycroft Holmes respectively. The film is a Netflix original, and the second instalment will be released on the streaming giant as well.

As the shooting of Enola Holmes 2 has begun, set photos show the sombre tones of the costumes. Henry Cavill was seen black wool coat while wearing his chocolate tresses in their natural curls. Pictured in between the takes, Cavill looked serious as he talked to the members of the production crew. The shooting is taking place at the famous Land of Green Ginger street in England.

    Check out the photos:

Another actress could be seen donned by the costume department with a red-and-black 19th-century dress featuring orange prints. Though Netflix hasn’t announced any specific date for the release of Enola Holmes 2, it will premiere in 2022. Back in May, rumours of a five-film deal between Henry Cavill and Netflix. If it is true then the fans will get to see more films from the franchise in the future.

Harry Bradbeer, the director of the first part will also be making this one along with the writer, Jack Thorne, who will pen the script once again. While speaking about the film, Millie Bobby Brown said, “I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! Enola holds a special place in my heart – she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”

Besides Enola Holmes 2, Henry Cavill has shown interest in replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond. “If Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson] interested me in any capacity to be a part of their movies, then I will gladly have that discussion, and that would be something I’d be very keen to explore further,” he said.

  • THE WITCHER star Liam Hemsworth is considering replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt Of Rivia

THE WITCHER star Liam Hemsworth is considering replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt Of Rivia

The Witcher star Liam Hemsworth is gearing up to play the new Geralt of Rivia in season 4 of the Netflix series, and he’s clearly bulked up in order to pick up where Henry Cavill left off. Check it out…

Work on The Witcher season 4 is expected to begin imminently and, when the Netflix series returns, Liam Hemsworth will take over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the show’s third batch of episodes didn’t offer so much as a single hint about how the witcher’s face will change and instead wrapped up on something of an open-ended note. As a result, many fans are expecting a simple recasting with no explanation.

Even when The Witcher’s creative decisions let him down, Cavill still delivered what plenty of people felt was a pitch-perfect take on the sword-wielding hero. Needless to say, Hemsworth has big shoes to fill.

Sharing a recent workout photo, it’s clear the younger brother of Thor star Chris Hemsworth has been putting in some serious time at the gym to portray a suitably formidable and imposing version of Geralt.

This comes after Netflix recently announced that The Witcher has added Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan. They join Hemsworth, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey and Laurence Fishburne.

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.  If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in,  they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire – and finding one another again.

The Witcher executive producer Tomek Bagiński talked last year about Geralt’s popularity and shared his belief that the character has reached a point where he can be recast similar to the likes of Batman and James Bond.

“Henry was a fantastic Geralt, but in the history of pop culture we have many actors who played the same character, and the character itself changed. I am most pleased that the series was created and became so popular. The Witcher has already reached the level of Batman, Superman and James Bond. Maybe we hoped to see him in a new version only in a few years, but it happened now. And that’s nothing new for iconic pop culture heroes.”

The Witcher season 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2024/2025. Check out Hemsworth’s impressive physique in the Instagram post below.

  • Henry Cavill leaves fans shocked, speechless, and very, very thirsty with latest casting news

Henry Cavill leaves fans shocked, speechless, and very, very thirsty with latest casting news

Those muscles, that light wave in his hair, those sparkling eyes, that chin—if there was ever an actor born to play Superman, it was Henry Cavill.

But fans received a major shock this week when it was announced that Cavill would be hanging up the cape, stepping aside from the role so that Warner Bros. could take its DC Comics superhero characters in new directions.

Shortly after the news broke, the actor shared an emotional response on Instagram, reminding fans that, although his turn to wear the cape has passed, “what Superman stands for never will”:

The news comes in the wake of major shake-ups for what’s become known as the DC Extended Universe—the “DCEU”—the movie franchise that includes Supes, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the rest of the Justice League.

Under the supervision of new DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn (the director of Suicide Squad and the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies) and Peter Safran (producer of The Conjuring movies), plans for another Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman movie had already been scrapped, making it clear more big changes were ahead.

(To be fair to Gunn and Safran, it’s not like the DCEU was in the best shape to begin with. Remember that already filmed Batgirl movie the studio canned? Or the fact that The Flash has a very big Ezra Miller problem?)

Still, DC’s decision to ditch Cavill feels like such a smack in the face because it was only a few months ago that the studio re-committed to his take on Superman with a much hyped post-credits scene in the Dwayne Johnson starring Black Adam.

Worse yet, it was simultaneously announced Cavill would be stepping down from Netflix fantasy series The Witcher (replaced by Liam Hemsworth), seemingly freeing up his schedule for more DC movies.

Ouch. How could they do this to such a pretty face?

Of course, fans are pretty upset about the decision, especially the gays who—even if they don’t care about Superman—love an excuse to drool over Cavill on their screens.

Over on Twitter, the news has inspired a wave of support (and thirst) for the actor, with folks suggesting all sorts of new roles they’d like to see Cavill in next… including in their bed room. Here are just a few of the reactions that had us LOLing:

Alas, it’s the end of an era. But, before you get too upset, don’t forget that Henry Cavill looks like this, so we think he’s going to be just fine…

  • Ahead Of Taking Over On The Witcher, Liam Hemsworth Looks Ripped In New Photo

Ahead Of Taking Over On The Witcher, Liam Hemsworth Looks Ripped In New Photo

In late 2022, fans of The Witcher were shocked to hear that Henry Cavill decided to step down as Geralt of Rivia after Season 3 and that he would be replaced by The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth. Now, just ahead of The Witcher Season 4’s rumored filming start date, Hemsworth shared a photo of his current physique, and he looks absolutely ripped!

Liam Hemsworth took to his Instagram account on Friday to share a “leg day” gym photo while showing gratitude to fans for his latest movie. Check it:

The 34-year-old actor checked in on social media to show off his massive arms in a black and white photo where he also thanked the public for going to see his movie on the 2024 film schedule, Land Of Bad.

Hemsworth shared that the “feedback has been awesome” on the new action thriller that also stars Russell Crowe, Milo Ventimiglia and his own brother, Luke Hemsworth. The movie hit theaters back in February, but landed on VOD a few weeks ago, likely to many more people checking it out.

As for what Hemsworth will be doing next, per Netflix, The Witcher is set to start production this spring. This week The Matrix actor Laurence Fishburne was announced to be joining the new season as Regis, who is a fan-favorite character that was introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire. Other new actors joining the Season 4 cast are Sharlto Copley as bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, Emhyr’s court advisor and spy; and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan the dwarf.

The upcoming season will of course see the return of Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer and Freya Allen’s Ciri and pick up with what happened at the end of Season 3. While we don’t know exactly how the switch between Cavill and Hemsworth will occur in Season 3, the show’s executive producer gave fans a hint last year.

While it’s certainly exciting to see Liam Hemsworth getting in shape right before he’s set to play Geralt, it hasn’t been the smoothest transition thus far. Fans of the series have really embraced Henry Cavill in the role of the White Wolf since the show’s premiere, and it’s not necessarily easy to see the actor go. However, when Season 3 premiered last year, some fans of the show came to Hemsworth’s side when they felt like promos were throwing him under the bus.

While The Witcher was positively received by critics overall, viewing trends showed a decline in interest from audiences tuning into Season 3. Time will tell how Hemsworth is received by fans of the series. We still have yet to see Hemsworth in costume and playing the role, but that’s definitely to come. Ahead of Season 4, you can catch up with all three seasons of The Witcher with a Netflix subscription.

  • David Corenswet made fans happy when he sweetly surpassed Henry Cavill

David Corenswet made fans happy when he sweetly surpassed Henry Cavill

The cinematic experience of encountering Superman on the grand scale may forever be altered with Henry Cavill bidding farewell to the franchise, but not every change leads to disappointment.

When the news broke initially, fans found it challenging to reconcile with the idea of anyone other than Cavill. However, as time has passed, acceptance has slowly taken root, fueled by David Corenswet’s steadfast commitment to embodying the role. Moreover, to further solidify his position, Corenswet recently endeared himself to fans with a gesture, highlighting his natural suitability for the character as a worthy successor to Cavill.

At the latest screening of The Greatest Hits, a fan, Thomas A. Moore, crossed paths with the upcoming Superman, David Corenswet, and shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter) to leave fans in awe. Moore, who had the chance to receive an autographed Superman figurine merchandise by Corenswet, wrote how committing the actor was in his attempt to get the Superman logo right. While Corenswet’s excitement went barely unnoticed by Moore, his dedication to getting the logo right sent him and his fans online into a straight meltdown.

Moore’s response, “Whatever you say the symbol looks like, that’s what the symbol is!” reportedly elicited a broad smile from Corenswet, who even proclaimed that he was “born to play Clark Kent.” With the official cast lineup for the upcoming Superman featuring Corenswet in the lead role, it is evident that James Gunn has made a commendable choice for the reboot.

As heroism frequently manifests through such modest gestures, Corenswet’s suitability for the superhero role has already garnered praise even before the grand theatrical debut.

Fans love the new Superman after David Corenswet’s endearing fan interaction

With David Corenswet taking on the mantle of the new Superman, initial doubts among fans may have surfaced. However, following his recent engagement with fans, the tinge of skepticism has been replaced by a fresh wave of anticipation. Credit goes to the fan who shared this unforgettable encounter with the world. As for Superman enthusiasts, it served as a truly remarkable and much-needed introduction beyond mere screen presence.

Many fans were compelled to inquire further, while others could not help but express their “jealousy” at not being able to experience the same.

Considering the online buzz already brimming with excitement about witnessing the new Clark Kent both on and off the screens, it is evident that David Corenswet has already made a significant impact. Though Cavill may no longer reassure fans with his established heroic demeanor, Corenswet’s gesture has left fans more than satisfied, reassured that the role has been entrusted to a natural fit rather than a manufactured one, since heroism is innate, not contrived.

What do you think of the sweet interaction between David Corenswet and the fan as he readies himself to portray Henry Cavill’s Superman? Let us know in the comments below!
