Country music icon Reba McEntire’s performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl LVIII was a significant moment that garnered mixed reactions across social media. Some believed cosmetic enhancements impacted her performance while others loved it.

After Reba McEntire took to the stage to perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl, fans and critics alike shared their opinions. While many tuned in to witness the artist’s rendition, the range of responses highlighted the diversity of viewers’ tastes and expectations.

Critiques and praises were equally vocal on platforms like X, where one user did not hold back talking about McEntire’s possible beauty enhancements impacting her performance, stating, “She can hardly sing through that plastic surgery. Got to bring back Stapleton that was the best I ever seen.” Another shared a similar sentiment, saying, “Sorry, I love Reba but I thought she was horrible.” Some thought her performance was incredible and said it was how the national anthem should always be sung.

Yet, amidst the critiques, many of McEntire’s fans highlighted her expertise and composure. In support of her, a tweet read, “You can just tell that Reba is enjoying this moment and not stressed about how it lives up or if she’ll make a mistake. This is a pro.” Such supportive messages underline the admiration for McEntire’s professionalism and her stature in the music industry.

The conversation around the performance also included mentions of its duration, with some noting it as one of the “shortest” anthem performances in recent Super Bowl history—a point of contention that added to the spectrum of reactions.

While McEntire’s Super Bowl LVIII anthem was a moment to remember, it is not her “first rodeo” with national anthems. McEntire’s storied journey in music began long before, with a notable performance at the National Finals Rodeo 50 years ago. Music on X called McEntire and the Super Bowl a “match made in heaven,” to which McEntire replied: “Aww thanks.”

In January, NBCUniversal announced that McEntire, 68, will helm an untitled pilot for a multi-camera sitcom, more than a decade after her last leading role on a series.

In addition to starring on the sitcom, McEntire will executive produce the series alongside her former Reba EPs Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis. Julie Abbott will also executive produce the sitcom.

Over 20 years ago, the “I’m a Survivor” artist took on the role of a middle-aged Texan and single mom coming to terms with the recent end of her marriage following her husband’s infidelity and her daughter’s teen pregnancy in Reba. The Emmy-nominated sitcom ran for six seasons on The WB, and later The CW, from 2001 to 2007.

In 2012, she starred in ABC’s Malibu Country as a woman scorned by her country music star husband. However, the sitcom was short-lived and concluded after one season.

More recently, Peterman and McEntire work together on McEntire’s Lifetime movie The Hammer, which chronicles an attorney (McEntire) who is appointed as a judge for Nevada’s 5th district after the former judge’s death.

McEntire has been vocal about her hopes for a Reba reboot in the years following the original series. During a July 2022 appearance on The Bobby Bones Show, the actress opened up about her efforts to put together a new series.

“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the Reba show,” she shared at the time. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.”

“It was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people,” she added. “We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

Reba is streaming in full on Hulu. No premiere date has been announced for the upcoming NBC sitcom.

Is Reba McEntire Getting Her Salary Slashed For ‘The Voice?’

    Reba McEntire-YouTube

It appears The Voice is not doing to great at the moment. Fans are not happy with the reality television show this season. Add to that the financial issues the show is having and it isn’t looking good for one of the biggest singing competition. The financial issues of NBC and The Voice is so bad, sources say they may have to start cutting the salaries of the judges. Seeing Reba McEntire is one of the newest judges, it’s possible she’ll be the first to feel the tightening purse strings.

    Budget Cuts For The Voice

NBC is being forced to make some budget cuts for their hit show, The Voice. It appears the financial situation of NBC is not as good as it should be. Raises for the judges are currently out of the question. Every penny being spent on “the talent” is being scrutinized.

An NBC insider spilled the beans about the financial issues and budget cuts. “There is a substantial trimming of costs and ways of looking at not increasing spending,” the insider revealed. “You can trim the budgets here and there but the reality is that the biggest fees come from the judges’ pay.”

“Losing a couple of staff members saves you hundreds of thousands of dollars,” the inside continued. “But bringing in a freeze on pay raises and lesser deals for talent is a way to trim millions.”

How Much Is Reba McEntire Getting Paid?

Considering how much Reba McEntire is getting paid to be a judge, it is easy to see just how easily it is to “trim millions.” It has been reported she is getting paid $13 million per season. Seeing she is one of the newest judges, it is possible she’s not getting paid as much as the other judges. Then again, she is “The Queen of Country Music” and that title very well could afford her wiggle room with negotiating.

Will Reba McEntire Get Her Salary Cut?

Seeing how the fans aren’t happy with Reba McEntire or this season of The Voice, the possibility of her salary being cut is quite real. The Voice is currently NBC’s biggest money-making show. To keep fans happy and advertising revenue flowing, changes may have to happen. It is, after all, all about the bottom line – the money.

Although the insider spoke in generalities, the salaries of the other current judges on The Voice were not mentioned. The salaries of past judges, Adam Levine specifically, were mentioned. His salary was reported as being $14.5 million per season. Considering how long he was on The Voice and his popularity with fans, it wasn’t much lower than McEntire’s salary. Being “The Queen of Country Music” seems to be paying off for the “Fancy” singer.

Country icon Reba McEntire recently faced backlash over her latest hairdo, which sparked strong reactions from her followers. However, this transformative hairstyle is not the first instance the star has been seen rocking different hair.

In a recent swirl of online chatter, Reba McEntire has found herself at the center of social media contestation over her hairstyle. McEntire—known for her fiery red curls and larger-than-life stage presence—took a bold step away from her signature look and chose to rock a straighter hairstyle that has sparked a wave of criticism from the public.

The transformation was revealed in a playful Instagram video where McEntire humorously snooped around the dressing room of “The Voice” judges Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney—better known as the pop duo Dan + Shay— during the show’s 25th season. Intended to showcase McEntire’s comedic side, the video instead drew attention to her new hairdo.

Many were quick to voice their opinions, with comments ranging from “Her hair looks terrible. Makes her look old,” to “Not loving the hairstyle. Too flat on your head like a helmet.” Critics did not hold back, with someone urging, “Girl, this hairstyle is not you. Go back to the old Reba with fluffy hair. Much more attractive on you.”

Others who made it clear that they love and admire McEntire also shared their disapproval of the new look, expressing, “Love ya but this flat hair has to go,” and “You are beautiful but the haircut [is] not you.”

Although from the comments it’s clear that people were taken aback by McEntire’s straight locks, this is not the first time she has experimented with her hair.

In a TikTok video the artist shared in September of last year, she rocked the same straight hairstyle that is now under scrutiny while celebrating the success of her song “Fancy” reaching 100 million streams on Spotify. Additionally, in 2020, McEntire ventured even further from her traditional look, posting a picture with a very short and gelled-back hairdo.

Traditionally, McEntire has been celebrated for her curly, bouncy, and voluminous hair, a trademark of her vibrant persona both on and off stage. Yet, her recent choices reveal another side of McEntire that is unafraid of change and experimentation.

Reflecting on her iconic hair in a past interview she did in 2015, McEntire divulged, “I can’t get [my stylist] Brett Freedman to get it that high anymore! My good friend Shane Tarleton is always saying, ‘Get that big hair out.’” She also spoke about her past use of wigs for roles like “Annie Get Your Gun” and during a certain tour, and highlighted the unwavering pride she has for her red hair, which she inherited from her mother.

Despite the disapproving reactions to her latest hairstyle, Reba McEntire’s journey through various looks underscores her versatility and fearless approach to self-expression. While fans may prefer the “old Reba” with her fluffy, vibrant curls, McEntire’s willingness to experiment speaks volumes about her dynamic character.

    Romance with Boyfriend Rex Linn

McEntire has been dating famous Hollywood actor Rex Linn away from releasing music and touring. The pair met in 1991 while working on the movie “The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw.” Since then, they have kept in touch but only became romantically involved in 2020. They couple, who also have a lot of mutual friends, reconnected when they went out for dinner.

McEntire, who was previously married to her manager Narvel Blackstock for 25 years before their divorce in 2015, revealed she and Linn texted and called each other a lot during quarantine to get acquainted.

Linn recorded and directed the video clip uploaded on the app where McEntire fed her donkeys.

Linn was the first guest on the singer’s debut episode in the second season of her Spotify podcast “Living & Learning with Reba McEntire.” The lovely couple talked about how they kept in touch during the lockdown, including their scheduled coffee camp, which served as an avenue for them to know each other better without pursuing any physical aspect of their relationship.

With Linn in California and McEntire in Tennessee, the couple held digital coffee dates, which sometimes started at 3. a.m. every day for months without missing a day. The actor would also send McEntire food from all over the country numerous times, which allowed them to develop an emotional intimacy despite their distance.

Some of the mouth-watering treats were McConnell’s ice cream, lobster rolls, and pecan pie which McEntire confessed was her favorite. The singer declared the pecan pie was so good that she kept the box and Linn’s note that accompanied it. She was always thrilled whenever she saw any delivery person arriving because it meant Linn had sent something else.

Linn revealed their special relationship went up a notch when McEntire’s mom was diagnosed with cancer. After the diagnosis, the actor told the singer that she could call him at any moment so that they could talk and the two have been doing exactly that ever since.

He also recalled an emotional moment between the two in the late 90s. Linn’s mother had just died, and the day she was buried, the actor’s sister informed him he had a call. It was McEntire on the phone.

She had called to offer her condolences and talk with him because she understood what he was going through. The actor explained they talked for 25 minutes, and it was unique and uplifting. Linn held on to this touching gesture, and then, more than twenty years later, he did the same for McEntire.

    Marriage Plans

In an interview with Extra in 2021, McEntire spoke about her thoughts on her and Linn taking the next step in their relationship and getting married. According to her, they have talked and giggled about the possibility of walking down the aisle.

However, they decided that if they ever came to take that step, she and Linn would have to schedule their wedding ceremony multiple times in a day since they have many mutual friends, acquaintances, and family they’d love to attend.

In 2023, McEntire went ahead to say that the decision lies in Linn’s hands, but if he wants them to get married, that’s fine with her. She noted that she has been married twice while her boyfriend has never tied the knot, so if he wants the two of them to take the relationship to another level, the choice was his.

Presently the couple is enjoying spending time together. The music star gushed over her boyfriend and revealed their nicknames for one another. McEntire said:

“I’m ‘Tater Tot,’ he’s ‘Sugar Tot’ — we’re the ‘Tots.’ Great storyteller, total gentleman, and hysterical.”

Their shared experience in the entertainment industry has created a profound bond between the two lovebirds. While McEntire is a popular entity in the music business, Linn is a veteran in the movie industry. They also share traits of being wannabe cowboys and cowgirls, respectively.

The couple has also become famous figures on the social media platform TikTok. Linn recorded and directed the video where McEntire fed her donkeys, and it was shared on the app.

The music star also gave her opinion on the news that her stepson Brandon, from her marriage to ex-husband Narvel Blackstock, would be divorcing his wife, Kelly Clarkson.

Having gone through the same ordeal when she left Blackstock multiple years prior, she declared she loves her stepson and his ex-wife Clarkson. McEntire also explained she was praying for both Brandon and Clarkson. She hoped they were both healthy and happy and would pull through the difficult situation.

Reba Mcentire Went through Months of ‘Painful Ritual’ to Have a Healthy Baby – Meet Her Only Son Shelby

Although Reba McEntire loved being pregnant, she went through a painful ritual of needles and medicine to make sure her only son, Shelby, was born healthy.

Reba McEntire might be a country music legend, but she loves being a mom. She and her second husband, Narvel Blackstock, tied the knot in 1989 and stayed together for 26 years.

The singer adopted Blackstock’s three children from his previous relationship and welcomed her only biological son, Shelby, in 1990. Shelby was “devastated” when his parents divorced in 2015, but he keeps a healthy relationship with them.

    Learning about Her Pregnancy

McEntire learned that she was pregnant at age 34 in 1989. She had just returned to her home in Nashville, and while Blackstock groomed his beard, she saw the result of her home pregnancy test; it was positive.

They were both excited about it but wanted to keep the news a secret (only their mothers knew) until making sure everything was fine. She got an appointment with Dr. John Van Hooydonk, and she liked that he had integrity.

Due to her age, the doctor asked McEntire whether abortion was an option if she had an amniocentesis procedure and discovered something was wrong with the baby. She said no, and he revealed he wouldn’t be her doctor had she said yes.

Later that night, the news of her pregnancy was everywhere. McEntire was sure Dr. Van Hooydonk didn’t do it because of his integrity. She hated the invasion of privacy, but she and Blackstock considered it was just a tiny cloud on their joy.

McEntire continued her World Tour ’89 until December 3. The next day, she returned to Nashville and had a prenatal exam with Dr. Van Hooydonk, who discovered her cervix had “thinned considerably.”

They were distraught because her due date was March 8, and she was already having minor contractions. McEntire’s doctor asked her to “take it easy,” or more drastic measures were to come.

“I’m so glad I wanted until I was mature enough.”

    Going through a Painful Ritual

She went to Oklahoma to spend Christmas with her family, but once in Nashville, she was hospitalized twice because of her contractions. After her second admission, the “painful ritual” started.

McEntire explained they sent her home with a syringe and a pump attached to a tube that ran to her stomach. Whenever she felt contractions, she had to pump medicine to stop them.

If that wasn’t enough, she had to return to the doctor’s office to change the needle in her stomach every three days. However, McEntire was willing to do everything, including hanging by her toes from the ceiling, to have a healthy baby.

She spent almost two months flat on her back and resting to make sure her baby stayed in her womb until her due date. In February 1990, Dr. Van Hooydonk told her it was okay to return to a regular routine because the baby’s lungs were developed.

    Welcoming Shelby in Shock

On February 22, she went out shopping but felt very tired. Later that night, she was admitted to the hospital 40 minutes after her water broke. She was shaking, and nurses said she was in shock.

For security purposes, she checked in as Mrs. Narvel Blackstock. Once in her private birthing room, Dr. Van Hooydonk began the examination and told McEntire to hold off on the epidural for as long as possible.

On February 23, 1990, Shelby Steven was born. They chose Shelby after Blackstock’s paternal grandfather and Steven after her paternal great-grandfather.

    Embracing Her Maternal Instincts

Shortly after McEntire gave birth, rested, and woke up, she asked nurses to bring Shelby back. She confirmed the maternal instincts existed because she could differentiate her son’s crying from the other babies.

When Shelby was a boy, McEntire wanted to be with him all the time. She would take him along on tours and after shows, and he even got on stage a few months after his third birthday. The singer added:

“I enjoy motherhood. It was something brand new for me, and I’m so glad I waited until I was mature enough to cope with the huge responsibility.”

McEntire knew that her son’s childhood would be different from hers because of her wealth and success. Still, she wanted Shelby to respect people who work for a living and to understand that working hard is crucial to getting nice things.

    Shelby Blackstock’s Adult Life

Nowadays, Shelby is a 32-year-old professional race car driver. He began his career in 2010 by competing in the Skip Barber Summer Series and Southern Regional Series.

In 2012, he placed eighth in the U.S. F2000 National Championship. The following year, he finished third in the Pro Mazda Championship. He has also participated in the Indy Lights, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Having a successful racing career is challenging, but Shelby didn’t stop there. In June 2021, he launched his outdoor apparel brand called Hartland.

He explained that racing was just one of his passions because he has always been interested in hunting, fishing, and wildlife conservation. His brand’s mission is to “connect and grow a community” rooted in the love of the outdoors.

McEntire revealed her son fell in love with racing on a golf cart. Even though he could barely touch the gas pedal, he would jump on the golf carts, chase geese, and drive her around the place, saying, “hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!”

The singer was surprised when Shelby decided to drop out of college as a freshman to focus on his racing career full-time. Luckily, she noticed it was his true calling because he felt like a kid in a candy store.

On December 31, 2020, Shelby proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Marissa Branch. Branch calls herself a “Disney Princess” on social media, so he cleverly took her to Walt Disney World to get down on one knee.

The now married couple met in January 2014, and even though they have no kids, they are raising two dogs, Watson and Belle. McEntire must be proud!

Apart from her career successes, Reba McEntire is a loving mother who saw her five stepkids as her own. The singer disliked whenever they were called her stepchildren. Simultaneously, she bonded with her only son and would fly from her concert venue to another city to take him to school in the morning.

Reba McEntire, often referred to by her first name, Reba, is a talented powerhouse who has contributed immensely to the country music genre. No wonder she is described as “the Queen of Country.”

Over the years, this amazon has built a successful career thanks to her consistency and passion for music. She has topped billboard charts and sold about seventy million tracks worldwide.

Interestingly, she is also an actress and owns different businesses, including a clothing line. Reba may be called the “The Queen Of Country,” but she is also the Queen of her life and knows how to control her affairs, particularly motherhood.

The country crooner is a doting mom to her only son and shows nothing but genuine love to her stepkids. Despite her two failed marriages, she maintained a non-toxic relationship with her exes and their kids.

Her motherhood duty is one she holds dearly. Consequently, Reba influenced her son, Shelby Blackstock, who also lives an incredible life, career-wise and personally.

Shelby was the product of her long-term marriage to Narvel Blackstock. Although he did not walk on the same path as his mother in terms of career, he made history in his desired profession.

This shows that the apple did not fall far from the tree. But apart from inheriting his mother’s exceptional work ethic to make a mark, he is also blessed with a mother who values family.

    Reba McEntire Meeting Her Stepkids

Reba had always fancied having a close relationship with her family. During her teenage years, she looked out for her sister, Alice. She wanted to matchmake Alice with Charlie Battles, but he later became her first husband.

Amid her busy career, Reba remained humble and loving to her family, including her ex-husband’s kids, Coty and Lance, from Battles’ and Brandon, Chassidy, and Shawna, from Narvel. In 2010, she admitted, “I claim them all.”

Reba and Battles met in 1971, and according to her autobiographical “Reba: My Story,” it was in the rodeo scene. When she saw him, she quickly mentioned him to her sister.

Following their meeting, Reba began to crush on him. Although he was ten years her senior, a married man with two kids, her feelings remained intact, and when he finally divorced, they proceeded to a courtship.

At the time, Reba was still in college and had barely launched her music career. Still, she carried on with the romance.

In her book, she noted that their relationship should have ended as soon as it began, but it was impossible at the time as she found him impressive.

Battles was reliable in times of need. For example, when she lost her grandfather, he provided a shoulder to lean on. Also, he displayed his protective nature during a confrontation with her ex-boyfriend.

Five years after their first meeting, the duo tied the knot. However, their marriage faced increased tension as time passed, and the once attractive characters became shortcomings.

Reba was formerly excited about her husband’s protective attitude, but it transformed into verbal abuse, and he became controlling, especially as her fame heightened.

Eleven years after their marriage, the singer decided to end it. Instead, she considered following her passion and doing what she felt was best.

At the same time, Reba had become close to Narvel, her newest recruit, after firing her manager. It took some time for the singer to get noticed, so she restructured her band, employing Narvel.

The duo became close but worked professionally for some years before becoming romantically involved. A few months after Reba’s divorce, he also ended his marriage with Elisa Gayle Ritter, the mother of his three kids.

In 1989, Narvel married the singer in a blissful wedding ceremony in Lake Tahoe. The following year, the duo welcomed their only child, Shelby.

Unlike her first marriage, her second was peaceful. They were like minds in the music business and supported each other, making it easier for her career to reach its peak.

With Narvel navigating her career through his management, Reba produced chart-topping songs and her “My Kind of Country” album under MCA Nashville Records that catapulted her to the world stage.

This was barely the beginning; Narvel stirred her towards Hollywood. She complied by featuring in Kevin Bacon’s “Tremors” and later a sitcom bearing her name “Reba.”

The pair continued to record success stories with her studio records, thanks to her supportive manager-husband and open-mindedness.

This power couple remained solid until 2015 when they shocked the world with news of their divorce. First, they separated for several months before proceeding with a divorce.

A close friend of the couple mentioned that during the years, they grew apart owing to Reba’s busy schedule.

Sources later confirmed that Narvel pulled the plugs on their marriage. However, despite falling out of love, the former couple maintained their professional relationship.

Reba McEntire Is an Admirable Mom

Amid her busy career, Reba remained humble and loving to her family, including her ex-husband’s kids, Coty and Lance, from Battles’ and Brandon, Chassidy, and Shawna, from Narvel. In 2010, she admitted, “I claim them all.”

Indeed, she has remained supportive and even refers to their kids as her grandkids. However, the country star revealed that she was heartbroken following Brandon’s divorce from pop star Kelly Clarkson.

A source claimed she was “torn” by their separation because she “adores” their kids and Clarkson. The insider added:

“She loved Brandon and Kelly like her own, she refuses to pick sides, but she’s afraid of how contentious it’s getting.”

Although there might have been a few glitches, like Brandon’s nasty divorce battle, all five of her stepkids ultimately have successful careers and personal lives.

Coty, her first stepchild, was a former wrestler who now resides in his ranch home in Waco, Texas. According to his Facebook page, he is also in a relationship with Amy Huffman.

His younger brother, Lance, has managed to stay away from the spotlight, and nearly nothing is known about his personal life or profession.

Reba’s third stepchild, Shawna, also lives a very private life. Unlike her siblings, Brandon, she refuses to follow in their father’s footsteps and only shares her details with friends and family.

Brandon, a well-known talent manager, is the most famous of the brood. He shares four kids with his ex-wives.

First, he was married to Melissa Ashworth, with whom he shares Seth and Savannah, and later, Clarkson, mother to River Rose and Remington.

The singer’s last stepdaughter, Chassidy, is one of the closest to her. Although she maintains a low-key lifestyle, in the past, she has been spotted next to Reba at different events.

Like his stepbrother, Reba’s only son has a remarkable career. He is a successful race car driver who has competed in top races. Shelby is also a family man who married Marissa Branch in 2022.

During an interview, the couple publicly pledged their commitment to their marriage, noting that they intend to create a legacy despite life’s challenges.

Through his life’s decisions, Shelby honors his mother, who is exceptionally proud of the man her son became. But it was only possible due to his upbringing.

Fame and fortune never got in the way of teaching her son values and preventing him from being spoiled. While recounting her motherhood journey, she shared:

“I’m very proud of him. He’s always trying to improve and do better. His daddy did a great job too…Shelby is a gift from God to me. We’re very close. I was a very self-centered person to a degree before Shelby…there’s a little character who you are given the job to protect and nurture and teach.”

Reba invested time in teaching her son. However, she never allowed him to win when they played a game, except he genuinely earned the victory.

Although she employed nannies, the singer often flew whenever she was away from home to get him to school and pick him up.

Today, mother and son are inseparable. Their story continues to inspire young female celebrities that having a career should not interfere with parenting because time lost can never be regained.

Parton’s defiance of her record label led to her marriage to Carl Dean.

During Dolly Parton‘s decades-long country music career, she has always seemed extremely lovable. At the same time, it has also been clear to anyone who has followed Parton over the years that she is fiercely independent and strong-willed.

Through a combination of being lovable, talented, powerful, and strong-willed, Parton has made a huge fortune for herself and others. However, some of the other people in Parton’s life have been blown away by her rebellious nature including when she got married.

What Is Dolly Parton So Beloved?

When most people think about Dolly Parton, it is her music and movies that come to mind. However, some people who are more informed about Parton’s story know that there are many amazing stories about the singer.

    Dolly Parton

In recent years, there have been some headlines about Parton that have revealed how incredible she is. A perfect example of that is the fact that Parton attempted to turn down the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame feeling she didn’t deserve induction. Despite that, Parton is so respected that she was inducted anyway.

More important than that, Parton has a long history of philanthropic efforts. Partially because of all the people Parton has helped, she has been labeled the world’s best-loved celebrity.

If giving to charity and initially refusing an accolade she felt others deserved more wasn’t enough, there are many more amazing facts about Parton. One example of that is the fact that Parton once turned down Elvis Presley. When Presley wanted to record “I Will Always Love You”, Parton said no because he wanted half the publishing rights.

How about the fact that Parton stood up to the KKK. Every year, Parton holds an event to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at Dollywood. When the KKK threatened her over the event, Parton refused to falter. “When it first started there were people giving us threats, I still get threats. But like I said, I’m in business. I just don’t feel like I have to explain myself. I love everybody.”

There also is the fact that the first cloned animal, a sheep named Dolly, was named after Parton. The list of interesting facts about Parton seems endless depending on how much research someone does.

Why Dolly Parton Getting Married Was An Actor Of Rebellion

Throughout music history, the major labels have often had an oversized amount of influence over the artists they sign. In many cases, that has meant that the labels have controlled the music that artists they work with have produced.

There have also been several much-talked-about instances of music labels controlling artist’s personal lives. At the very least, the studios have forced artists to not talk about their romantic relationships in public.

The reason for that is the labels often believe that single musical artists will be more successful. The basis for that belief is the idea that fans are more likely to buy albums from artists they somehow think they may have a chance with.

During the ’60s, Dolly Parton was affected by her label’s desire for her to be single which was the start of a fascinating story.

In 2018, Parton spoke to People about her longstanding relationship with her husband Carl Dean. At the time of that interview, Parton and Dean had been married for a truly impressive fifty-two years.

Despite how long Parton and Dean have been married, their relationship has never really been focused on much. A big portion of the reason for that is Dean has never been a regular at the red carpet events Parton has attended during her career.

Given how little the media has focused on Parton and Dean’s relationship, her People interview was fascinating. A perfect example of that is what Parton revealed about what led to her and Dean walking down the aisle.

Dolly Parton and Carl Dean when they were young

During the early phases of her People interview, Parton revealed some fascinating tidbits. Parton stated things like the key to her lasting marriage has been spending a lot of time apart and that the couple got McDonald’s on their first date.

As amusing as those revelations are, they pale in comparison to what Parton revealed about when she got married. According to Parton, she and Dean had made plans to hold a big wedding until her music label stepped in.

Why Dolly Parton Marrying Carl Dean Was One Of The Most Rebellious Things She Ever Did

When Parton’s label heard about her planned wedding, they didn’t want the publicity. As a result, Parton’s label asked the musician to postpone her nuptials by a year. Since Parton isn’t the kind of person tp take a demand like that lying down, the singer and Dean decided to elope instead.

“We’d already sent out invitations and so I thought, ‘I ain’t waiting!’ We went that same weekend to Ringgold, Georgia in a little church. I had a little white dress and little flowers, and my mom went with me.”

While it is clear that Parton and Dean were happy they tied the knot, things didn’t play out the way they wanted. Instead of throwing a major celebration, the couple was forced to have a small and understated ceremony without most of their loved ones.

As Parton explained to People during the same interview, she was never happy with how her wedding played out. As a result, Parton and Dean decided to renew their vows on the 50th anniversary of their wedding.

“I never really felt like I had the wedding that we really wanted. He got all dressed up and I got all dressed up. Fifty years is a long time for anything, and I felt that we needed to do something to commemorate this. It’s been a good 50 years and I don’t know how many more years we’ll have left.”

In the years since Dean and Parton renewed their vows, the country music legend has continued to celebrate her marriage. On rare occasions, Parton has posted photos of herself and Dean on social media from throughout their more than 56 years of marriage.

Dolly Parton has been a prominent figure in the music and entertainment industry for nearly six decades. She is thriving and leaving an indelible mark on pop culture. Throughout her illustrious career, marked by chart-topping hits and a colorful foray into film, Parton also faced personal challenges that led her to make decisions she later regretted.

As is common with many public figures, concerns have arisen about her health as she has aged. After all, Parton has previously battled health issues. Unfortunately, the beloved country music icon has been the target of unfounded health scare rumors and even death hoaxes.

Did Dolly Parton Have A Terminal Illness?

In 2013, The National Enquirer revealed that Dolly Parton had undergone an esophageal cancer screening procedure. Allegedly, she had a secret esophagectomy in June 2013 to implant a medical device in her esophagus, as she had been battling gastroesophageal reflux disease for years, which can lead to esophageal cancer.

A source reportedly claimed that her significant weight loss during that time was attributed to her illness, surgery, and medication. “Her weight was dropping dramatically, she was chugging antacid medication, and she couldn’t eat anything but soft, bland foods.” Parton’s team declined to comment on the rumors.

In 2015, Parton faced more health concerns when rumors of her having stomach cancer started to circulate. The National Enquirer reported again that she had been rushed to the hospital. These rumors surfaced when she underwent surgery to remove kidney stones which went smoothly.

Parton spoke to Billboard to clarify the rumors, “It’s true that I had kidney stones. I had them removed three weeks ago, and I am doing just fine! There is absolutely no truth at all that I have stomach cancer. I love and appreciate everyone’s concern,” she added.

Dolly Parton Became A Target Of An Internet Death Hoax

In 2022, social media buzzed with news of Dolly Parton suffering from a serious ailment and even claimed that she was on life support. These rumors were debunked by Snopes, a fact-checking site after its origin was revealed in an unreliable YouTube video.

At the time of the rumor, the country legend had been actively making public appearances and doing shows that’s why people were stunned to learn about the fake news.

In 2023, another online death hoax targeted Parton. A Facebook post in October 2023 falsely claimed her death, causing hundreds of fans to express condolences and sorrow. Fortunately, Parton’s representatives swiftly dispelled the rumors with a statement posted on her Instagram story, “She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”

Dolly Parton Debunked Rumors That Affected Her Body Image

Dolly Parton addressed the outrageous rumors that claimed her breasts were so massive that they had damaged her back. During an interview with ET Canada, the country music icon was asked to clarify some wild rumors about her personal life.

Parton began by referring to a National Enquirer report that suggested her breasts had left her crippled. “Oh, heavens, I’ve heard everything… And I thought, well, they are big, and they are heavy, but I can still get around… I’m doing all right,” she stated.

Another persistent rumor concerns Parton’s choice to not wear sleeveless outfits in public which led to speculations about her alleged concealed full-sleeve tattoos and a scalp tattoo beneath her wigs. She acknowledged the existence of her few tattoos and shared the reason behind her body art with Vanity Fair.

    Dolly Parton

“… most of the tattoos when I first started, I was covering up some scars that I had, ’cause I have a tendency to have keloid scar tissue, and I have a tendency where if I have any kind of scars anywhere then they kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of. So mine are all pastels, what few that I have, and they’re meant to cover some scars. I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement.” Parton shared.

Dolly Parton Struggled With Her Mental Health After Her Heartbreaking Health Diagnosis

In 1981, Dolly Parton received a diagnosis of endometriosis, a condition characterized by the growth of tissues outside the uterus, causing inflammation in the pelvis and other parts of the body.

In the months leading up to her diagnosis, she endured severe abdominal pain and bleeding, which ultimately resulted in her collapsing on stage during her show in Indianapolis. Parton underwent two surgeries to prevent internal hemorrhaging, and at 36 years old, she had a partial hysterectomy to manage her illness.

“I went to the very bottom as far as my emotions and my health are concerned. I was getting away with murder. I wasn’t watching what I ate, I wasn’t conscious of nutrition, wasn’t taking care of myself. I was working hard, and underneath I was a pile of personal and emotional problems. All at once I fell apart. It was stomach problems and female problems – all over health problems, actually.” Parton recalled in her two-hour documentary titled, Dolly Parton: The Queen of Country. The surgery meant that she could no longer conceive children naturally and admitted that she went through a dark phase until she managed to pull herself out of it.

In addition to her diagnosis and medical warnings, Parton’s health struggles persisted. Despite being on medication for her stomach and reproductive issues, she still engaged in extreme diets, and referred to herself as “Dietin’ Dolly.”

Dolly Parton on the red carpet

“On top of being medicated, Dietin’ Dolly would go on liquid protein, Scarsdale, Atkins, the water diet, then I’d binge, diet, gain, start all over again. Eventually, my system wouldn’t work anymore. My body couldn’t hold up under that strain. Overeating is as much a sickness as drugs or alcohol,” she explained.

This combination of steroids, antibiotics, and unhealthy lifestyle choices led to rapid and unhealthy weight gain. Parton, with her previous petite physique, gained 50 pounds. She admitted that she could eat three pizzas and still crave fries, popcorn, and McDonald’s before going on a strict diet again. Fortunately, her doctors convinced her to switch to a balanced diet, which helped her lose 20 pounds and regain her health.

Dolly Parton has put a lot of things on the backburner for her career, including starting a family. But the country music legend is reportedly taking a step back from music to prioritize her ailing husband, as she wants to help care for him in the wake of his failing health.

Dolly’s Husband Was Reportedly Diagnosed With Alzheimer’s

    Dolly Parton looking rebellious

According to various reports, Dolly’s husband Carl Dean, 31, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and the condition is deteriorating.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline, memory loss, and changes in behavior, ultimately leading to a loss of ability to perform daily activities.

Though Dolly has been busy touring as well as tending to her various business ventures in recent years, she’s apparently preparing to put that on hold to put her husband first. Not only does she reportedly want to oversee his care, but she’s also focused on making the most of their time together before his condition becomes worse.
“Dolly has long been a fixture on the touring circuit, but as her husband’s health takes precedence, she has chosen to take a step back from the stage to focus on what matters most – family,” a source told National Enquirer .
“She wants to make sure they enjoy every last minute they have together,” they continued.

Dolly and Carl have been married for nearly 60 years. They wed in 1966, when she was 20 and he was 23. Dolly has credited her husband for being a huge support as she solidified her career in Hollywood, even if that meant they never started a family of their own.

Dolly Prioritized Her Career Over Having Children

In November 2020, Dolly opened up to Oprah Winfrey about the sacrifices she made for her career, including her decision to not have kids. Dolly said she didn’t believe she could give her attention the career it needed if she had children, or vice versa.

“Since I had no kids, and my husband was pretty independent, I had freedom,” she explained. “So I think a big part of my whole success is the fact that I was free to work.”

That same year, Dolly addressed a fan theory about her husband, which claimed he doesn’t exist since he’s so infrequently been photographed in public. The singer explained that while she’s a mega star, Carl has always preferred keeping his life private, though he’s supportive of her career.

“A lot of people have thought that through the years, because he does not want to be in the spotlight at all,” Dolly told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s just not who he is. He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.”

For now, Dolly hasn’t commented on reports that she’s taking a step back on her career to focus on her husband amid an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
