Before making it on the stage, Reba gained some fame for “running barrels” (a rodeo event). So it’s no surprise she also got her big break at the rodeo — she was discovered there by Red Steagall in 1974 when she sang the national anthem.

Blake Shelton reignites old ‘The Voice’ feud: ‘This would be some Adam Levine-level failure’

    the-voice-adam-levine-blake-shelton

For the first 16 seasons of “The Voice,” Blake Shelton and Adam Levine fully embraced their “frenemy” relationship as they frequently made fun of each other. Even though Adam left NBC’s reality TV series years ago, Blake still occasionally finds a reason to throw the pop singer under the bus. Case in point, during the April 4 episode of Season 23, Blake reignited the old feud when his artist Neil Salsich had to perform solo because his duet partner Alex Whalen withdrew from the competition.

“I told Neil before he came out here, I said, ‘Man, if you lose this battle it will be the worst fail in history. I mean, this would be some Adam Levine level failure stuff,’” Blake explained to fellow coaches Kelly ClarksonChance the Rapper and Niall Horan. For the record, all of the panelists thought Neil’s rendition of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” was amazing, with Blake raving, “You absolutely nailed it.”

Blake later walked over to Kelly’s position at the other end of the stage and declared, “That’s the chair [Adam] used to sit in.”

“Oh my gosh!” she yelled back. “The only reason why I’m in this chair is to separate us.”

Blake later heaped more praises upon his 34-year-old artist from St. Louis, Missouri, noting, “Neil’s performance was completely comfortable. I mean, the guy really did own the moment. He blew the coaches away and I just think America is gonna fall in love with this guy.”

Adam’s departure from “The Voice” in 2019 caught everyone off-guard as he was expected to return to the judging panel the following season. Many viewers suspected his decision to leave was influenced by the Season 15 controversy in which he infamously instructed people at home to vote for one of his artists (Reagan Strange) instead of the other (DeAndre Nico). In a statement, Levine said at the time, “For me, it was time to move on … What an amazing ride.”

The Season 23 blind auditions and battles are behind us, with the knockouts beginning on April 17, 2023. That’s when country superstar Reba McEntire will serve as the mega mentor for all four coaches’ teams. She previously appeared as the mega mentor in Season 8, and before that, as an advisor to Team Blake in Season 1.

Chance the Rapper Says His Kids Are Already Performers and Aren’t Impressed by Celebrities

Chance the Rapper is opening up about his talented children.

On Monday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the Chicago-born MC gushed to JHud about his two daughters: Kensli, 7, and Marli, 3.

During the chat, Chance said his kids are already performers who “love singing and dancing.”

“Marli is dramatic,” he told Jennifer Hudson about his youngest. “She has a lot of back and forth. She’s very expressive and feisty.”

Chance said the eldest, Kensli, is a “strong leader” who is “very well spoken” with “a huge vocabulary.”

“She was born with perfect pitch,” Chance added. “[With] any song, she goes crazy.”

Chance said that while Kensli and Marli recognize that their father is famous — because fans come up to him — he thinks “they don’t know anybody else is famous.”

“They don’t get impressed by anybody. They know I sing and they like my songs,” Chance explained.

Later in the interview, Chance told Jennifer that he recently took his father on his very first trip to Ghana.

Though Chance’s father didn’t travel to Ghana till he was 59, their family has a rich history with the West African country.

“A lot of our grandparents had connections between West Africa and here. My great-grandmother spent a lot of time in Ghana, at church, and [she] built schools,” Chance noted.

Chance said the trip with his dad “was deep.”

“It was a real good connection between me and my father,” he added.

On January 26, 2023, Chance will return to Ghana for the Black Star Line Festival, which will take place at Black Star Square in the capital city of Accra.

John Legend Reveals Which of His Kids Takes After His Musical Talents

Looks like the Legend family household is full of legendary talent.

Grammy-winning artist John Legend revealed that his 6-year-old daughter Luna shares his love of singing exclusively with E! News’ Daily Pop. He and his wife Chrissy Teigen—who are currently expecting another baby—also share 4-year-old son Miles.

“She loves to sing,” Legend said of Luna’s musical talents. “When songs are playing in the car, she sings along with everything. And she has pitch, she hits the notes.”

But just because she shares her dad’s musical talents doesn’t mean she plans to follow in his entertainment footsteps. “I’m not sure if she really wants to sing,” the 43-year-old shared. “She’s at that place where I’m like, ‘Okay. You’re hitting the notes, and with some work and some training, we’ll see.’”

While he won’t be giving his daughter singing lessons anytime soon, Legend is returning as a coach on the new season of The Voice—which premieres September 19—to help a new group of music industry hopefuls get their big break. And this season, the “All of Me” singer is getting some help from his new advisor, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan.

“I’m just so excited that she’s here to just share her journey with our audience,” Legend told Daily Pop, “because so many of them look up to her.”

When it comes to this season’s competition, it’s first-time coach Camila Cabello that he has to look out for. Legend, who recommended Cabello join the series after she did such a great job as his former advisor, told Daily Pop he now regrets doing so, joking. “I was like, ‘Uh oh, I’m in trouble. I gave myself some more competition, and she’s really good at this.’”

    John LegendNBC

“She’s very competitive,” he continued. “She’s learned that it’s important to get the last word in, and she makes sure she gets the last word as much as possible, and it frustrates me.”

Luckily, Cabello is the only co-star Legend is worried about, as he said that having Gwen Stefani back as a coach has made her husband, longtime coach Blake Shelton, let down his guard.

“He’s gone soft on us,” the star joked. “I think when Gwen’s here, it takes a little of his edge off, and you can tell. He’s like losing country singers now. His competitive fire is—he’s a little bit de-fanged by Gwen being here.”

Hear Legend gush more about his new advisor Sullivan in the full interview above.

The Voice season 22 premieres Monday, September 19, at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Currently, music stars Chance the Rapper, Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, and John Legend, are the vocal coaches serving on The Voice this year.

Dan + Shay took One Direction alum Niall Horan’s spot on the series after he chose not to return for Season 25.

As it stands now, country singers make up 50% of The Voice’s coaching circle.

This statistic doesn’t sit well with some viewers.

In a thread on Reddit, supporters of The Voice explained why certain coaches perturbed them.

“I can’t be the only person annoyed that Country Western (CW) is overshadowing everything. If CW had its own show it would be better,” one critic ranted.

“If the music industry picked the winner it would also be better. America voting is a train wreck.”

“Some of the world’s best singers would have been voted off the show. That is ridiculous,” they continued.

“I usually watch until the voting starts. This year that double team stunt makes the whole thing unwatchable for me…”

“Who thought it was a good idea to have 3 country judges,” a viewer asked.

Gwen Stefani drops subtle sign of marital status to husband Blake Shelton on her nails in new home video
“I absolutely hate country music. Having the country duo instead of someone different from all the rest is what they should have done. I’m not watching this season,” another slammed.

“I haven’t watched it yet maybe today but I have been fearing that. Especially the way the voting went last season,” third person added.

While some were in agreement that too many country singers dominated The Voice, others saw no problem with it.

“Just because others have different music preferences doesn’t make it wrong,” one person shared.

“Several Voice alums have been successful on country radio… so yeah, country artists are going to be featured,” another added.

    ALMOST HAPPENED?

Rumors circulated that former coach Gwen Stefani, 54, would rejoin the panel.

However, the Don’t Speak singer was not announced in the new cast list.

Near the end of September 2023, the 54-year-old hitmaker returned with her co-stars for Season 24 of The Voice.

During Reba’s debut, Gwen cozied up to and sang with her, John, and Niall, 30.

The Tremors scream queen filled in for the empty seat left by Gwen’s husband, Blake Shelton, 47, who retired from the show at the end of Season 23.

At the time, Blake left the talent competition show to spend more time for his family.

Throughout February, the God’s Country singer has been busy promoting his Back to the Honky Tonk tour and performed at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

Meanwhile, Blake’s wife has been preparing to take the stage again soon with her former band, No Doubt, at Coachella in April.

Gwen will reunite with her ex-bandmates – bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young – as they have not performed together in almost a decade.

Reba McEntire’s Heart Won’t Lie! See a Complete Timeline of the Country Star’s Dating History

Reba McEntire has been belting out country love songs for the last few decades thanks to inspiration from her previous relationships. Although the Grammy Award winner is no longer married, she’s making the most of dating in her 60s.

The “Fancy” songstress tied the knot with her first husband, Charlie Battles, in 1976. Their marriage didn’t last, however, as they went their separate ways more than 10 years later in 1987. Reba then moved on with her second husband, Narvel Blackstock.

The country icon and the film producer exchanged vows in 1989 and were married for 26 years before Narvel filed for divorce from his spouse in 2015. Looking back on the split, a friend close to Reba revealed she was completely caught off guard.

“Narvel was her protector, her business partner and manager, and it was really tough on her. She had no idea it was coming,” the pal exclusively told Closer Weekly in March 2019. “She felt sorry for herself for about a month, but then she snapped out of it.”

The former Reba actress gave love another shot when she started dating Anthony “Skeeter” Lasuzzo in 2017. Although Reba thought she and the wildlife photographer were a “match made in heaven,” they split after two years together in November 2019.

“Skeeter is a great guy, but her busy schedule and Skeeter’s [retired] way of life just didn’t mesh very well,” the friend explained to Closer. “[The breakup] was amicable.”

Following Reba and the retired geologist’s split, the insider dished the star was perfectly “fine being single” for the time being. “Yes, she would like to find love again,” the friend told Closer. “She definitely wants to grow old with someone by her side, but she says she’s taking a little break.”

It seems that break didn’t last long as the Tremors actress started dating her new boyfriend, Rex Linn, in early 2020. Reba revealed their romance sparked after they got “dinner” together in New York City in January.

“[We’ve been] having discussions about our past, our [families], funny stories, him being an actor, me being an actress,” she gushed during an episode of her “Living and Learning” podcast in early October. “He’s very into my music, I’m very into his career — it’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny and very smart, and is interested in me too.”

It sounds like Reba is truly happy!

At the time Reba was rising to fame, she met her first husband, Charlie, in the mid-’70s. Charlie was a divorced steer-wrestling champion, who also happened to be 10 years her senior.

The lovebirds tied the knot in 1976 when Reba was just 21 years old. “I loved Charlie with all my heart, I wanted to marry him … we had a lot of fun,” she once said, CNN reported. “We rodeoed together, we ranched together.”

Sadly, the pair called it quits in 1987 after 11 years of marriage. Because Reba hasn’t talked much about their relationship, there isn’t a lot of information out there about Charlie.

Reba actually met her second spouse, Narvel, during her first marriage with Charlie. The Hollywood stars became aquatinted when they started working together in 1980. Narvel later joined the “Consider Me Gone” singer’s band as a guitarist.

At the time Reba and Charlie split, Narvel began working as her band’s manager. Their relationship quickly grew, and they exchanged vows in Lake Tahoe on June 3, 1989. The following year, they welcomed Reba’s only child, son Shelby Blackstock, in February 1990.

The “Does He Love You” songstress was taken by surprise when the Malibu Country producer filed for divorce in 2015. Following the end of their marriage, Reba said she had to figure out how to “handle” her career and new life as a single woman.

“The divorce was not my choice. I did not want it at all,” she explained during an episode of her podcast titled “Forging Your Own Path” in September. “The people who were literally taking care of me and my company [and] my career left me. It was kind of a, as I call, come to Jesus meeting. I had to gather my wear with all.”

Despite the heartbreak, Reba said the journey forced her to be stronger. “I think it made me appreciate the business more,” she shared. “There I was again, forging another part of the territory I never even thought I’d have to deal with.”

Aside from his relationship with Reba, Narvel was also married to his first wife, Elisa Gayle Ritter, from 1973 to 1988. The former pair share kids Brandon BlackstockShawna Rene Blackstock and Chassidy Celeste Blackstock.

Reba and Anthony first met while the country artist was on a tour during her vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in August 2017. After they crossed paths, their romance quickly kicked off.

“We’re totally in love … absolutely,” she gushed to People in April 2019. “I wouldn’t put up with somebody for two years if I wasn’t in love with ’em! The old heart’s still beating.”

Throughout their two-year romance, Skeeter — who is a wildlife photographer and former geologist — often appeared alongside his lady at red carpet events or at other Hollywood outings. However, their relationship ended in November 2019.

Despite their split, an insider revealed the two were on good terms. “They remain great friends,” the source exclusively shared with Closer the following month in December. “Reba and Skeeter feel like they’re just at different points in their lives. Maybe they’ll get back together when Reba is ready to settle down a bit more, but she’s not there yet.”

The businessman is the proud dad of his four kids, Kristi LasuzzoTyler RomingerHolli Dixon and Blake Lasuzzo. Blake shares his children with his ex-wife, Marolyn Tyler Lasuzzo, whom he divorced in 2013. It’s unclear when the two first exchanged vows.

“[Rex is a] very, very sweetheart of a guy,” she gushed on her podcast. “It’s good to have a person to talk to, [to] laugh with [and] get into subjects about what’s going on.”

‘Voice’ Fans Bombard Reba McEntire’s Boyfriend Rex Linn After Seeing His Latest Post

Once again, Rex’s sweet support of his “tater tot” has our hearts growing a size!

Country star Reba McEntire has racked up millions of fans around the world during her 48-year music career. Quite possibly her biggest fan of all is her boyfriend, Rex Linn, who made us swoon with his reaction to her recent big news.

During this week’s “upfronts” (an event during which TV execs meet with advertisers and press to share more about their programming plans for the next season), and soon after online, NBC revealed that Reba will be replacing Blake Shelton and joining Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend in the coveted coach seats as part of The Voice. Unfortunately for Kelly Clarkson fans, it sounds like she will not be returning this year.

“I am going to have my game plan ready to go and we’ve all been talking about it, so it’s going to be something brand new. ‘The Voice’ has never seen it before,” McEntire tells Access Hollywood.

Within hours of the announcement, Linn shared a playful snapshot of McEntire pretending to press her button to spin her chair and vie for a singer to join her team.

“There’s a new judge in town!!! @nbcthevoice #thevoice #fancy,” Linn writes in the caption.

McEntire and Linn have been a dynamic duo romantically since early 2020, but they’ve been friends since 1991. Prior to making things official with Linn, who starred on CSI: Miami, McEntire was married to steer-wrestler Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and to her manager Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015. From 2017 to 2019, she dated retired oil geologist Anthony “Skeeter” Lasuzzo. Soon after McEntire’s mother died, Linn and McEntire reconnected, and their partnership bloomed during the pandemic quarantine. They have been “inseparable” ever since, McEntire tells People.

From the looks of Linn’s frequent and loving Instagram support of his beau, whom he affectionately calls “tater tot,” he’ll be rooting for The Voice’s newest coach each step of the way this fall when she takes over Shelton’s country slot on the coach panel.

This isn’t McEntire’s first rodeo on the music competition show. In 2011, she was a battle advisor for members of Team Shelton and then returned this year as a mega mentor. In 2020, she was actually offered a coaching gig, but revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2021 that she turned it down.

“I said, ‘No, I’m going to pass on that,’ because I don’t think I could ever be able to tell somebody that they’re terrible or go find another job or hope you like your nighttime job. I couldn’t do that day in and day out. I just couldn’t do it. So I did pass on it,” McEntire told Cohen. But after some more time to think, she reconsidered: “I mean, after you see a very successful show that’s been running, what, 15 years? Uh, yeah! I’m like shoot, I should have done that.”

Fans seem to be (almost) as excited as Linn to learn that McEntire changed her tune.

One shared in the comments of Linn’s post that “I haven’t watched in years (other than when she coached). But I’ll be watching now!!! 👑👑👑👑👑” Another echoed our sentiments when she said, “All you have to do is say Reba and I’m in. 🙌🏻🔥👏🏻❤️”

Season 24 is slated to return this fall, likely in its current time slot: Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Madonna is once again publicly criticized by country music icon Reba McEntire.

The criticism stems from Madonna’s recent performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards. During her performance, Madonna paid tribute to several deceased music legends, including Prince, David Bowie, and George Michael. However, many viewers felt that Madonna’s performance was disrespectful and that she did not do justice to the artists she was honoring.

Reba McEntire was one of many celebrities who took to social media to criticize Madonna’s performance. In a tweet, McEntire wrote, ‘I’m a huge fan of Madonna, but I was disappointed in her Grammy performance. It was disrespectful to the artists she was honoring.’”

This isn’t the first time Madonna is publicly criticized by country music icon Reba McEntire.

Country Star Reba Slams Madonna For Starting Concert 3 Hours Late.

Madonna is back to her diva ways!

For her first-ever concert in Nashville, Tenn. on Monday, Madge managed to ruffle some feathers in the audience when she arrived nearly three hours late for the performance.

But it wasn’t just fans who were complaining about the “Living For Love” singer, even country star Reba McEntire — who attended the show — slammed Madonna’s bad behavior.

The famed redhead took to Instagram to bash her pop star peer, showing no mercy when it came to her tardiness.

    Madonna's meltdown, blow by blow

“At the Madonna concert,” she wrote alongside a photo of the venue. “She’s not on yet…really???”

The “Going Out Like That” hit-maker kept followers updated on Madonna’s show faux pas, adding another photo later, captioned: “We’re here! Where is she???”

“She came on at 10:31,” Reba huffed on her final post.

To be fair, Madonna has had a difficult year thus far, thanks to an ongoing custody battle over rebellious son Rocco Ritchie, 15.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, trouble in paradise first occurred when the teen refused to return to the U.S. (and his mother) over the holidays, after he had accompanied her for the first half of the Rebel Heart Tour.

Reportedly angry over his disobedience, Madonna sought a court order shortly thereafter, forcing Rocco to come home.

So far, Madge has not been successful in getting her son home, as he remains in London with his father, film director Guy Ritchie.

Is Rocco the reason behind Madonna’s bad etiquette? Will she apologize to her fans? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Amid rumors of Reba McEntire’s frustrations with ‘double-crossing’ castmates, ‘Four-Chair King’ John Legend dominates ‘The Voice’

Rookie coach Reba McEntire, the queen of country, was much-hyped at the start of The Voice Season 24, but so far she’s had a tough time sparring with her more experienced and cutthroat co-stars: John Legend (who’s in his eighth season), Gwen Stefani (her seventh), and reigning champ Niall Horan. Reba seems to be not only be the queen of country, but the queen of one-chair turns, with six of her 13 team members only being recruited by default.

According to a report by RadarOnline, Reba, America’s redheaded sweetheart, “didn’t realize how double-crossing [this competition] was, so it’s been a shock. … She’s sick of it already. She realizes they’re all phonies and she’s had to get sneaky just to be heard — and that’s not her style.”

Representatives for The Voice declined Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment, but McEntire shut down these rumors in an interview with Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi, saying, “I’m just having a blast.” When asked if she was quitting the show after this season, as RadarOnline reported, Reba vaguely answered, “Well, not right yet. We’re not through.” As of now, she is supposed to return for Season 25 next spring.

Witnessing how this season’s Blind Auditions have played out so far, it’s clear that Reba (understandably) thought her pleasant demeanor and decades of experience — she frequently mentions being a “third-generation rodeo brat” who started performing at age 13 — would be enough to lure contestants. Her perishable recruitment prize, tater tots, isn’t even as incentivizing as her fellow coaches’ collectible team jackets and hoodies.

So, despite her sincerest efforts and undeniably impressive résumé, Reba has not established herself as the coach to beat in Season 24 so far. However, Niall has assured Voice viewers that she possesses a “superpower” that allows her to be “very in tune with some very great artists that are going to surprise us down the line,” so perhaps there is a method to her one-chair madness. Maybe she has some sneaky gameplay up her embroidered sleeve after all.

Meanwhile, the self-declared “King of the Voice” — John Legend, who after Blake Shelton’s departure has become the show’s O.G. veteran panelist — has become the king of four-chair turns. A whopping eight of Team Legend’s 12 contestants, including two that auditioned Tuesday, have been four-chair wonders. We still have one more Blind Auditions episode left before the Battle Rounds begin next week, but so far, it looks like John, not Reba, is this season’s coach to beat.

Here are the successful auditioners from Tuesday’s hour-long episode, ranging from two to four chairs:

    Willie Gomez, 37: “La Bachata”

This Miami-based Bachata dancer, who has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and even Britney Spears (who sent him a video good-luck message), had the moves and the sultry tone of a budding Latin music heartthrob. “You can do all the things you can do to be a big star,” John assured him. Gwen was actually shamelessly flirting with Willie, saying she loved his “vibe” and “energy.”

    Who turned? All four coaches.

Result: Team Legend! Flirting and vibing got Gwen nowhere.

    Olivia Eden, 15: “This Town”

This endearingly awkward and giggly self-declared “weird kid” showcased an intriguingly wispy, feathery, vibrato-heavy soprano voice. It was far from a flawless vocal, but her imperfections lent the performance character. Gwen loved Olivia’s “signature yodel” and Reba called her “cute as a button.” Niall gushed, “There was so much maturity to that voice. … You showed off so many parts of your voice, more than I did — and I wrote the song!”

Who turned? Niall and Reba. Niall turned first, of course. “Great song choice!” he quipped.

Result: Team Niall, of course. Reba hasn’t had much luck this season, and she didn’t have a chance with this one.

    Caitlin Quisenberry, 27: “Rainbow”

Caitlin showcased such a pretty, bell-clear, lilting tone; she reminded me a bit of “Paper Roses”-era Marie Osmond. There was a sweetness, innocence and purity here. If anything, I think Caitlin could use a little more edge — which Gwen surely could’ve helped with — but there was something so warm and welcoming about her voice.

Who turned? Reba and Gwen. I’m surprised they were the only ones.

Result: Team Reba, finally! Country redheads stick together.

    Kara Tenae, 33: “Boo’d Up”

This singing Uber driver from Riverside, who starred in an Uber commercial with Julia Michaels that aired during the Grammy Awards, had a cool ‘90s-throwback R&B vibe and massive vocal range, but her performance was shaky and unfocused in parts. However, the coaches were impressed by her potential. Niall praised Kara’s “crazy runs,” Reba was “blown away,” and Gwen said, “You’ve got personality, you’ve got stage presence, you have it all.”

Who turned? Niall, Gwen, and Reba.

Result: Team Gwen. “California girls stick together,” John shrugged.

Caleb Sasser, 27: “Another Sad Love Song”

This middle school music teacher raised on gospel music said he was going to do the “Caleb version” of the Toni Braxton ballad, and he was not playing. John was wowed by how “really musical and really creative” Caleb’s “magical” version, comparing him to both Toni and Anita Baker. There was a certain natural, sweet likability to this man too. Reba told him, “Your voice made me feel such peace inside,” and Niall said, “The ease with which you sing is so beautiful.”

    Who turned? All four coaches.

Result: Team Legend, of course! This was no surprise, since Caleb cited John as one of his “biggest influences.” And so, the Four-Chair King remained undefeated.
