    England’s most $ex addicted kings

    The horniest kings of England

King Charles II was the first king to use condoms while King Edward VII was said to have at least four women a week for 50 years.

    Royal Secrets: Lust

They were two of the most “lustful” Kings of England and they worked well to cultivate their reputation as being the ultimate symbols of virility.

King Charles II was the first king to use condoms but still managed to have six children as well as at least 14 “official bastards” by seven different mothers.

King Edward VII was said to have at least three to four women a week for 50 years. And, with his specially designed sex chair he was easily able to entertain two ladies at once.

Neither King was terribly fussy and they certainly were not snobs; happily taking their pickings from noblewomen and actresses as well as prostitutes.

It was 350 years ago this month that King Charles II cemented his reputation as the ultimate royal playboy when he fell for English actress Nell Gwyn in 1669, even though he was married and juggling at least six other mistresses.

But were the Kings addicted to sex? Or were they just doing what kings are supposed to do? Let’s take a look at the monarchs who set the scene for a risqué court where hedonism was the name of the game.

King Charles II of England was the first king to use condoms but still managed to have six children.

    KING CHARLES II

Ruling England from 1660 until his death in 1685, King Charles II was famously nicknamed “Old Rowley” in honour of an old racehorse that became a famous stud stallion. He was also known as the “Merry Monarch” and seems to have truly lived up to his name when it came to the pursuit of women.

There was a lot going on during the King’s rule; the plague, the great fire of London to name just two.

    But Charles’ priorities were elsewhere.

Courtier John Evelyn said Charles would have been an excellent king “if he had been less addicted to women.”

There was no doubt Charles II loved sex and he had a succession of mistresses while he was married to Queen Catherine of Braganza. Charles was said to have a very low boredom threshold; he loved to be entertained and he loved women.

One of his favourite mistresses was Barbara Villiers, who gave birth to six of his children which he accepted as his own. (Poor Queen Catherine never managed to produce an heir, suffering three miscarriages.) Charles had 14 children by his mistresses and agreed to support them all. However, he had doubts that Villiers’ youngest daughter was his because he’d caught her in bed with the Duke of Marlborough.

Unlike previous Kings, Charles really looked after his mistresses and admired them not only for their looks, but he was said to be attracted to their intellect as well as their capacity to gossip.

Two of his mistresses became duchesses in their own right; Barbara Villiers became Duchess of Cleveland and Louise de Kerouaille became Duchess of Portsmouth. It was a move that was a far cry from any of his predecessors who tended to toss their mistresses aside once a fresh woman was on the scene.

Associate Professor Clare Monagle from Macquarie University’s Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations told news.com.au virility was seen as a sign of a good king.

“The rampant womanising and being able to impregnate them was a way to prove your virility and masculinity,” Ms Monagle said.

“One thing we assume is that people were more moral or religious back then. And they were in some ways but the relationship between the idea of a king as a warrior and a strong man was interwoven and the idea of ‘taking a woman’ was part of the job description.”

“It was the cost of doing business, and the king would have quite enjoyed having that reputation of virility.”

“The Kings were expected to be robust because they bore the security of the crown in their body, so they were a metaphor for the whole body politic, so to have a robust virile, masculine king is a great comfort for everyone.”

1863: Bertie, Prince of Wales and his bride, Princess Alexandra of Denmark. King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
King Edward VII carried a variety of nicknames that reflected his personality. His family called him “Bertie,” a shortened version of his first name Albert. His friends liked to call him “Tum Tum” because he was overweight, but the eldest son of Queen Victoria was more widely known as “Dirty Bertie” and “Edward the Caresser” due to his innumerable sexual dalliances and countless mistresses.

Edward VII ruled England from 1901 until his death in 1910, marrying Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863 when she was 19 and Edward was 21 (she was fifth on the list of women deemed a suitable match.)

“She is my brood mare,” he once said.

    “The others are my hacks.”

The couple went on to have six children and were said to be relatively happy but whatever happiness they might have enjoyed did nothing to stop the King from being a rampant skirt chaser.

His mistresses included the beautiful actress Lilly Langtry, as well as Jennie Jerome (who later became the mother of Winston Churchill). His last “official” mistress was Alice Keppel, whom he first met in 1898. On the King’s deathbed in 1910 he had written instruction for his staff to make sure she was allowed to visit him.

Interestingly, Keppel was the Great Grandmother of Camilla Parker Bowles, the mistress and wife of the current Prince of Wales (Edward’s great-great grandson).

Sexual stories of the Playboy King

Edward had a “sex chair” designed by the French furniture manufacturer Soubrier. It allowed the king to have sex with two women at the same time. Looking at the chair today, it’s not that simple to work out exactly how the thing functioned although we can safely assume that the King had it all sorted.

    ‘CORRIDOR CREEPING’

When a party was held at the palace, Edward and his friends would wait until the women had retired to their bedrooms. Then, they’d wait until the lights were out, creep down the corridors looking for the woman they wanted to spend the night with and simply let themselves into the room of their choice.

Whether consent played a part in this was anybody’s guess but it’s believed the palace maids would lend a hand and leave a note of some sort outside the room of each woman. Just to make it easier for them to find the “lucky lady.”

    AN INSATIABLE SEXUAL APPETITE

From the time he lost his virginity at the age of 19, King Edward was said to have had sex with at least four women a week until his death at the age of 69. Nobody knows the real figure, but some historians claim the King could possibly have slept with between 15,000 and 18,000 women, allowing for the weeks when he was able to have sex with six or seven women in one week.

Let’s not forget the King also had his “special chair, “allowing for sex with two women at once.

    DESTROYING THE EVIDENCE

There were rumours the King had fathered multiple illegitimate children as a result of multiple affairs, but because Edward never officially acknowledged any illegitimate children it’s been impossible to trace any of them.

The King was said to be very diligent at destroying evidence and ensuring his affairs remained secretive. Historians believe he had hundreds of letters from women burned and even his diaries are lacking in personal information, so we can only guess as to how many of his descendants are scattered around the world.

Do we really believe “Edward the Caresser” slept with up to 18,000 women in his lifetime?

According to Clare Monagle, these figures might not be an exaggeration.

“Yes, it is quite possible. There’s also a chance some of them were actually spreading stories about how many women they were having. There’s a chance this was part of the cultivation of the myth, a PR tactic,” Monagle said.

“But we’ll never know for sure. We do know there were strong attempts to repress stories of illness. The courtiers were always trying to make sure that any stories about fallibility or frailty of the King didn’t get out. So there’s a chance they were also spreading stories about how much sex their King was getting on a daily basis too.”

But it seems, in the case of King Edward VII, mistresses were only tolerated by the long-suffering wives up to a point. According to author of Edward VII: the Prince of Wales and the women he loved Catharine Arnold, when the King was on his deathbed, Queen Alexandra sent for his long-time mistress, Alice Keppel. It was said to be a bizarre scene.

The Queen hadn’t summoned Keppel because she wanted to do a good deed for her dying husband — apparently, she only invited Keppel into the palace because she was causing a ruckus banging on the gates and yelling for “Bertie”.

Once she was at the King’s bedside, he was drifting in and out of consciousness and didn’t recognise her.

Once she said her goodbyes, the Queen demanded, “get that woman out of here!”

Meghan Markle’s ailing dad says he refuses ‘to be buried by her’ in likely ‘final ever’ interview

Meghan Markle’s ailing, long-estranged dad has said he refuses “to be buried” by his exiled-royal daughter after she repeatedly talked about how she already mourned him.

Struggling to speak after a debilitating stroke, Thomas Markle, 78, begged his daughter to reconnect — and finally allow him to see his royal grandkids, Princess Lilibet, 1, and Prince Archie, who turns 4 on Saturday, the day his other grandfather, King Charles III, is coronated.

Markle was asked by 7News Spotlight in a segment that aired Sunday about his daughter telling her Netflix docuseries that she “lost my dad” — and Prince Harry writing in his memoir, “Spare,” that Meghan “was mourning the loss of her father.”

“She killed me and then mourned me,” the ailing dad told the Australian news show in what he said was likely his “final ever” interview.

“I refuse to be buried by her.”

Thomas Markle shared touching videos of him with his daughter as proof that “she loved” her dad, who was “her hero” — before “suddenly I was thrown out.”

“I wish that we could sit down and talk,” he said, while conceding it is unlikely given that his daughter did not make any contact even after his stroke a year ago.

“If she doesn’t turn up for a stroke, if that doesn’t move her, what would?” asked the dad, who walks with a cane.

Thomas Markle said he has not heard from his daughter since she wrote a “so hateful and so cruel” letter to him more than four years ago, which he called “pretty much a kiss-off.”

In his memoir, Harry, 38, maintained that “there is nothing in that letter to be ashamed about,” while ripping the father-in-law he has never met for sharing parts of it with the press.

However, Thomas Markle insisted: “There are other things in that letter that are so hateful and so cruel, that I wouldn’t put it out.

“And that’s more protecting her than myself,” he said, claiming he’d “burn it before I sell it” despite being offered big money.

Meghan’s half-siblings, Samantha Markle and Thomas Markle Jr., also said they were offended by the estranged royal claiming she was an only child whose big “wish” was to have “had siblings.”

Samantha claimed that Meghan denied their existence because she didn’t think they were good enough for her new life.

Thomas Markle, meanwhile, said his goal is just to “sit down and talk” with his daughter, son-in-law and grandkids.

“It’s just very sad from a father’s perspective. It’s a huge disappointment and it’s sad every day,” he said of their estrangement.

“Meg I love you — I love my grandchildren. I’d love to see them,” he said, noting that the young prince and princess are “gonna have my nose, they’re gonna have my eyes.”

He called Harry a “nice guy,” telling him: “I love you for marrying my daughter.”

“I’m open to any kind of conversation,” he said in a final message to his daughter, smiling as he said, “Thank you.”

George Clooney Slammed by Thomas Markle Don’t Talk About Me and My Girl!!!

Thomas Markle agrees with George Clooney — the press is treating Meghan Markle like crap … but he’s pissed off at George’s comments on his relationship with his daughter.

Sources close to Meghan’s father tell TMZ … he’s upset the actor chimed in over the letter the Duchess of Sussex sent him — which has now been posted by multiple media outlets.

ICYMI — George said in a recent interview he found the broadcasting of Meghan’s letter to her dad “frustrating” and “irresponsible.” We’re told Thomas took this as a dig … and thinks Clooney should “do a little research before he talks about Meghan and her father.”

To be fair, Clooney seemed to be slamming the outlets more than Meghan’s dad. He said, “I can’t tell you how frustrating that is, just seeing them broadcast a letter from a daughter to a father. She’s getting a raw deal there, and I think it’s irresponsible and I’m surprised by that.”

True enough, he doesn’t mention Thomas, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read between the lines … Thomas set the ball in motion by releasing it. It sure seems that’s the way Thomas is reading it, and that’s why he’s ticked off at George.

Our sources say, Thomas believes he’s getting a raw deal in the press … and Meghan’s friends are to blame.

Meghan and her father have been at odds for years. Since the former actor began dating Harry (37), Thomas has continually spoken about her to the press.

Most notably, Meghan won a years-long court battle earlier this month over a private letter she wrote to her father, in which she begged him to stop speaking to the media. Thomas leaked the letter to a tabloid, and they were held responsible for publishing it.

In the past, Thomas has accused his daughter of being aloof and ungrateful, and recently threatened to go to court if Meghan would not allow him contact with his grandchildren.

An “unimpressed” Meghan Markle reportedly received a dressing down from the late Queen for her actions at a food tasting event prior to her wedding to Prince Harry.

The former Suits star is said to have been unhappy during the taste-testing for her 2018 wedding and made her displeasure known. Reports suggest that the now Duchess of Sussex became “very upset” after claiming she could “taste egg” in one of the prepared dishes.

A royal author explained that Meghan was informed there was no egg in the dish, but she didn’t believe them. Instead, she allegedly responded, “No, I can taste it.”

Speaking of the apparent altercation, royal author Katie Nicholl claimed to Yahoo’s Royal Box that Queen Elizabeth II then intervened. She claims the late monarch, who died in 2022, walked into the room at Windsor Castle and “quietly took Meghan to the side”. She allegedly told Meghan “the Royal Family does not speak to people like that”.

The resurfaced alleged comments come after the First Lady of Nigeria was forced to speak out on apparent criticism she made of Meghan during the Sussex’s trip to Nigeria last month. They told AFP Fact Check: “She meant Meghan appreciates the people we are and hence her coming here. At no point did she say anything about Meghan’s dressing.”

Sophie Wessex is reportedly angry after it was suggested in Omid Scobie’s book that she did little to support Meghan Markle during her time as part of the royal family.

Sources close to the Duchess of Edinburgh say that she is unhappy after being dragged into the royal race row that was reignited by the release of Endgame last month.

In its pages, Omid suggested that Sophie had done nothing to help and support Meghan as she was struggling with life as a royal. But according to her allies, Sophie had been there for her – and had even invited her round to her Surrey home.

The Mirror reports that friends of Sophie have said she had chatted ‘for hours’ with Meghan in the early months of her marriage to Prince Harry, going out of her way to give her support and advice.

“It was just the two of them at and they talked for hours,“ a source told The Sun.

“Meghan had so many questions and Sophie, who knows what it’s like navigating your way through the early days of transition from a commoner to a royal, gave freely of her advice. Sophie found Meghan likeable and engaging and told her that she could call her any time when she needed advice about dealing with some of the trickier royals.

Sophie’s allies have also rubbished claims about her shunning Meghan as she left a church in Windsor, saying they are ‘blatantly untrue’.

In Omid Scobie’s explosive book, he accused Sophie of being ‘casually bigoted’, in reference to comments that her and Prince Edward made after the Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Just a few days after the interview aired back in 2021, Edward and Sophie were asked in a Daily Telegraph interview if they had watched it – to which they replied “Oprah who?” and “what interview?”

Sophie, 58, then went on to state: “You know, if you’re not into chat shows, there’s no reason why you should know who she is. Certainly not this this country, anyway.” Mr Scobie responded by saying the comments made Sophie appear “tin-eared” about Ms Winfrey in his book Endgame, which was released on Tuesday.

Speaking about the Duchess, Mr Scobie wrote: “Whether it was a ‘joke’ (as a source close to the couple later claimed it was) or not, the comments about the world’s most successful Black woman and one of the biggest faces in entertainment made them seem stuffy or tin-eared at best, and casually bigoted at worst.”

Meghan Markle has issued “one condition” to Prince Harry if she ever was to make a return to the UK, an expert has claimed.

Since moving to the US in 2020, Meghan has made very few returns to Britain – with her last trip taking place in 2022.

It has now been claimed that Meghan has voiced to Harry that she will only return if they have a place of their own to stay and the appropriate security.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'permanent return' to UK 'possible', says former butler - Daily Record

He added: “If the couple manage to find a permanent home and sort out the security issue they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK but it’s going to take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lili are able to develop a genuine and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.”

Mr Quinn’s comments come after Harry recently won the right to take his case to the Appeal Court against the High Court’s decision that the level of protection he and his family receive in Britain is reasonable. As well as losing full taxpayer-funded police protection in 2020, Meghan and Harry were also evicted from Frogmore Cottage last June – which left the couple without official residence in the UK.

During Trooping the Colour 2019, Meghan Markle was observed having a brief and seemingly tense exchange with Prince Harry on the Buckingham Palace balcony while celebration events took place for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.

As the National Anthem began playing Harry could be seen telling Meghan to “turn around” when she tried to engage with her husband and initiate a conversation.

The Duchess appeared to look quite upset when this interaction happened but much has been read into the interaction over the years, with some saying Harry was merely trying to look out for his wife, who may have been unaccustomed to the protocol.

Judi James, a professional body language expert, spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk at the time to explain how Meghan may have been feeling at this moment.

She said: “It’s easy to forget how much pressure Meghan might have felt herself to be under, coming from the US which has no Royal Family, and immersing herself in both her husband’s family and the more formal side of his lifestyle.

“So events like the Trooping of the Colour might have even come as a bit of a shock to a woman who claims to have initially had little knowledge of skills like the curtsey.”

Judi added: “Her [Meghan Markle’s] blink rate does seem to have speeded though, which is a gesture that can hint at either some upset or irritation.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s second appearance at Trooping the Colour was her first public appearance since the birth of her son Archie, attending the late Queen’s birthday parade alongside the rest of the Royal Family.

As they are no longer working royals, Meghan and Harry will not be attending Trooping the Colour this year. The King’s Birthday Parade, scheduled for Saturday, June 15, will kick off at 10:20am.

Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14, but it is tradition for the reigning monarch to have an unofficial birthday in June, so the entire nation can join in the celebration.

One royal commentator, Kinsey Schofield, believes the couple might decide to choose the day to hit headlines so they are not sidelined. Ms Schofield, To Di For Daily host, said: “I would not be surprised if we saw American Rivera Orchard launch a product around Trooping the Colour.”

Meghan first launched her lifestyle brand on March 14, but there has since been a lull in brand activity. She then resurfaced at the end of April, giving out handmade jams to 50 friends and influencers to share via social media.
