Meghan Markle has just started a war she can’t possibly win

Much has been made of the Kate Middleton/Meghan Markle feud, but Meghan’s real adversary is far more powerful.

Kensington Palace sits on a quiet (private) street where $180 million buys you a lovely three-storey Georgian pile or the Russian embassy, your choice.

The palace might look genteel, a massive regal edifice set back from the prying eyes of the public by a vast lawn and the beginnings of a whopping hedge.

But inside, war has broken out.

On one side is the Duchess of Sussex whose propensity for spontaneous banana-related gestures and vast closet full of custom-made Givenchy outfits is well known.

And on the other side, a formidable foe.

No, I don’t mean the Duchess of Cambridge with her vast array of Alice bands, prim Alexander McQueen coats and steely determination.

I mean the faceless men and women who actually run royal life. The courtiers. They are the unseen hands and faceless coterie who steer the royal ship. They are quite literally the power behind the throne. And whether she knew it or not, Meghan Markle has declared all out war against them.

The opening salvo came a couple of weeks ago. Let’s just imagine the scene inside the royal press office: They were probably going about their normal day, working out how to quash stories about Prince Philip’s driving record or Prince Andrew’s latest trip to hang out with his Kazakh dictator bestie.

Then, according to reports, an American TV producer rang to ask if they had an comment after Meghan’s bombshell People story.

“What ho?” I’m guessing they responded.

The Kensington Palace press office had no idea that their latest charge had just lobbed a dramatic broadside in the PR war over her image. The courtiers were caught off-side and on the back foot (and no doubt needed a very strong cup of Earl Grey to contend with the shock.)

To give you some background about why they would have been so shocked. By and large, royal press strategy has always been to not deny incorrect reports, the thinking being, one you started you would never stop. (Remember the Fergie years?)

In this vein, they have largely ignored the barrage of ferocious criticism the Duchess of Sussex has faced in the press over recent months.

Here’s the rub: Meghan is a woman used to rigorously controlling her image, so she took a leaf out of Princess Diana’s playbook and used a group of close mates to leak overly sunny titbits about her to a trusted magazine. (C’mon: NO ONE is that perfect a homemaker/friend/wife/dog lover and humanitarian. At least pretend Megs sucks at, say, replying to WhatsApp group messages or returning borrowed Louboutins.)

By going down the People route, she totally circumvented and ignored the massive media apparatus at her disposal and the opinion of the courtiers.

Whether out of naivete or hubris, she has pitted herself against the people Diana called the “Grey Men”, AKA the courtiers and this is a feud I’m not sure she can win.

Being a royal means keeping a lot of people on side: Her Maj, the hoi polloi, the tabloid press, the vast retinue of courtiers and probably even Princess Anne’s horses. By and large, Kate has done an excellent job at just this.

Going off piste and putting out her own counter-narrative, Meghan has upset most of these people, at exactly the moment she should not be adding to her list of adversaries.

Princess Diana ultimately won the media war with the “Grey Men” but it was a bruising, gruelling, decade-long battle that was at times humiliating and tawdry.

She might have outwitted the courtiers, finally, but it came at serious personal expense, especially to her sons.

Meghan would be wise to call a truce in Kensington Palace now and de-escalate the tensions behind that vast lawn.

It might be time to get on the phone to Fortnum & Mason for some apology gift baskets, after all, they do a wonderful $1800 Windsor gift hamper.

Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas threatens to reveal more explosive extracts of his daughter’s letter to him

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas is ready to release more shocking details from the private letter his daughter sent him.

Thomas Markle is prepared to release more details from a bombshell letter daughter Meghan wrote to him criticising his wayward behaviour.

Meghan accused him of “creating so much pain” and “exploiting” her relationship with Harry in an explosive five-page note.

Meghan, 37, also begged him to stop lying and let them “live our lives in peace”.

Her comments were laid bare by 74-year-old Thomas Markle, but he has yet to release them all. His daughter Samantha, 53, told The Sun : “It was nasty. Dad is prepared to release more of it.”

Pals of Meghan told a US mag she had written, asking to heal the rift which opened before her wedding last May.

But Samantha, Meghan’s half-sis, says that was a PR move which “isn’t working”.

In elegant handwriting Meghan tells her “daddy”: “Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces.

“You have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice not to tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand.

“If you love me … allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband.”

The letter, dated last August, revealed her fury over CCTV that proved her father staged pre-wedding photos.

Meghan wrote: “We all rallied around to support and protect you from day 1, and this you know.

“So to hear about the attacks you’ve made at Harry in the press, who was nothing but patient, kind, and understanding with you, is perhaps the most painful of all.

“For some reason you choose to continue fabricating these stories, manufacturing this fictitious narrative, and entrenching yourself deeper into this web you’ve spun.

“The only thing that helps me sleep at night is the faith and knowing that a lie can’t live forever.

“I believed you, trusted you and told you I loved you. The next morning the CCTV footage came out.”

Meghan told of her hurt at Samantha’s “lies”. She wrote: “You fixated and clicked on the lies they were writing about me, especially those manufactured by your other daughter, who I barely know. You watched me silently suffer at the hand of her vicious lies. I crumbled inside.”

She also rubbished claims that he never asked her for money.

Meghan wrote: “You’ve said I never helped you financially and you’ve never asked me for help which is also untrue; you sent me an email last October that said: ‘If I’ve depended too much on you for financial help then I’m sorry but please could you help me more not as a bargaining chip for my loyalty.”

She even claimed he ignored her after his heart attack last year. She wrote: “I have only ever loved, protected, and defended you, offering whatever financial support I could, worrying about your health … and always asking how I could help.

‘PLEASE STOP LYING’

“So the week of the wedding to hear about you having a heart attack through a tabloid was horrifying,” Meghan wrote.

“I called and texted … I begged you to accept help — we sent someone to your home … and instead of speaking to me to accept this or any help, you stopped answering your phone and chose to only speak to tabloids.”

She goes on: “You haven’t reached out to me since the week of our wedding, and while you claim you have no way of contacting me, my phone number has remained the same. This you know.

“No texts, no missed calls, no outreach from you — just more global interviews you’re being paid to do and say harmful and hurtful things that are untrue.”

Thomas wrote back, denying he ever attacked Harry, who was at Twickenham to watch England.

He added: “I wish we could get together and take a photo for the whole world to see. If you and Harry don’t like it? Fake it.”

Royal expert Ingrid Seward said: “I wouldn’t have thought there was any chance of a reconciliation now.”

Kensington Palace declined to comment.

Duchess Meghan plays bedhopping, drug-snorting party-girl in never-before-seen film

A lost film featuring Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, as a drug-snorting party girl is set to be released

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is set to grace our screens in a racy film where she plays a bedhopping, drug-snorting party-girl.

She may have given up acting to marry Prince Harry, but Meghan’s 2011 TV show — The Boys & Girls Guide to Getting Down — has been picked up for film distribution in the US.

According to The Sun, the tongue-in-cheek show follows 20-something singles clubbing and partying in LA over the course of a single night.

In a far cry from her prim and proper Suits character Rachel Zane, Meghan plays single Dana, who is shown shimmying into a skin-tight dress before a night out.

When her friend, Heather, says she didn’t think Dana was on the hunt for a new man, Dana insists: “I dress this way for me. I’m not looking for a guy tonight. Trust me.”

A voiceover explains that Meghan’s character is also jealous of Heather’s ample bust.

As Meghan cups her own breasts, the narrator adds: “She’s considering buying a pair for herself.”

The two girls then head to a nightclub where Meghan’s character can be seen snorting a suspicious substance.

When the show was released in 2011 it only lasted one episode because TV executives decided they did not want a whole series.

But Artist Rights Distribution is planning to re-release it as a film later this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Shortly after appearing in the racy comedy, Meghan landed the role of Rachel Zane on Suits.

WILL MEGHAN MAKE A CAMEO IN SUITS?

She fast became a fan favourite and rumours are swirling she’ll make a cameo in the show’s final season (airing later this year).

Suits creator Aaron Korsh is giving nothing away.

He told website Popsugar he’d love if she reprised her role, but he’s “not currently pursuing asking Meghan to leave her position with the royal family and join us”.

After seven seasons on the legal drama, Meghan’s character Rachel Zane made her last appearance in the episode titled Goodbye in April 2018.

The Princess of Wales is today revealed as the ‘driving force’ behind a new report calling on businesses to introduce more family-friendly working practices.
Her Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood has unveiled a major new report which argues that investing in early childhood could generate more than £45.5 billion for the national economy each year.
Downing Street, as well as senior ministers in the departments of health and education, have already been briefed about its findings – although palace officials are at pains to point out that it is not a political campaign.
A Kensington Palace spokesman also stressed that the news should not be seen as Kate, 42, returning to work after undergoing major abdominal surgery and revealing she was undergoing ‘preventative chemotherapy’ for cancer.
She has not undertaken public engagements at all this year.

But they confirmed that she has been across every aspect of the report from home, despite her illness.
Her spokesman said: ‘The work of The Prince and Princess’ projects is “always on”…early childhood is a huge priority for The Princess and so she has been kept fully updated throughout the development of the Taskforce’s work and she has seen the report. ‘
A senior royal aide added: ‘The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the business task force. She has been kept up to date since the inception of the task force and she has read the report and been briefed on it.
‘This is a clear commitment she has made that throughout her life of public service that this will be focus. That will continue when she returns to work. But we have been really clear that she needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors.’
Christian Guy, executive director of the early childhood centre, added: ‘This is another crucial moment for HRH’s early childhood work…its impact, and the work of her Centre for Early I know, having briefed The Princess on this, that she is enormously grateful to the members of the Taskforce who have made such fantastic progress on this work over the past year.

‘She feels passionately about the transformational impact of getting this right together, both for the current generation and for many more to come. I know that she is keen to encourage all businesses, no matter what their size or purpose, to join us on this journey and is looking forward to seeing momentum grow in the coming months.’
A source close to the Princess said: ‘She is excited about it. Action is so important for her, so having eight of the most important businesses in Britain come forward to make the case to their fellow business leaders is exciting to her. It’s a priority going forward.’
The report is the result of six months of research into how businesses can better prioritise children in the most crucial stage of their lives between birth and five.
Taskforce members – Aviva, The Co-operative Group, Deloitte, Iceland Foods, IKEA, The LEGO Group, NatWest and Unilever UK – have identified key opportunities for firms to help their workforce, whether they be a small coffee shop in Wolverhampton or a major international corporation.

It argues proper investment in the field could generate more than £45.5 billion for the economy, including £12.2 billion from helping improve people’s social and emotional skills in the earliest years, a £16.1 billion saving in public funds on remedial help for those who have adverse childhood experiences and £17.2 billion from supporting working parents, particularly with more affordable childcare.
The reports’ authors also set out how ‘building a culture’ that prioritises early childhood within businesses, local communities and wider society is crucial in preventing a raft of social, health and mental issues in later life.
This includes offering parents and carers greater practical support, resources and flexibility with their work, and better access to quality, affordable and reliable early childhood education and care.
And it issued a ‘major rallying call’ to their fellow business leaders across the country to stand with them and the princess.
Firms such as The Co-op have already committed to raising £5 million over the next five years to create more than 600 apprenticeships, while NatWet is extending its lending target for the child care sector to £100 million.
In a joint statement the eight inaugural taskforce members said: ‘Last year the Princess of Wales brought us together. She asked us to think radically about our approach to early childhood and the golden opportunity it presents to transform the lives of children…
‘If we get this right, the results for business, for the economy and for society are clear for all to see. ‘
Mr Guy added: ‘Tomorrow some of the most significant businesses in Britain will be joining forces to deliver a ‘major early years rallying call’ to their fellow business leaders across the country … urging their peers to stand with them, the Centre for Early Childhood, and The Princess to help transform the way our country supports the vital early years.
‘Through a landmark report and by announcing the first tranche of initiatives they have developed, Taskforce members are stepping forward to make the case forhy other businesses need to act alongside them – for the good of the country now and in the future, including to unlock an enormous £45bn economic return for Britain. ‘

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, wrote to her estranged dad begging him to stop “victimising” her after she married Prince Harry, it has been claimed.

The Duchess gave Thomas Markle an olive branch after telling him: “I have one father” — but incredibly he responded by shamelessly asking for a photo shoot with her.

Five “close friends” told People magazine the Meghan had been left absolutely “devastated” by her dad’s response.

It comes after a turbulent 18 months for Meghan since her relationship with Prince Harry was revealed, with her family repeatedly cashing in on her rising profile, reports The Sun.

Meghan’s family drama has seen Thomas interviewed on national television, calling his daughter “controlling” while her half-sister Samantha Markle regularly takes to social media to criticise her.

But speaking anonymously, the pals revealed the 37-year-old had tried to reach out to her 73-year-old dad after he pulled out of walking her down the aisle and gave a string of interviews with the press.

In the letter, the pregnant duchess reportedly wrote: “I have one father. Please stop victimising me through the media.”

A friend reportedly said: “After she and Harry got back from honeymoon, Meg sat down and wrote Thomas a long letter.

“She told him she loved him, she was heartbroken and wanted to put everything behind them.

“She forgave him for everything that had happened previously and just wanted to repair their relationship.

“Meg asked him to stop victimising her through the media and talk to her, not them.

“He replied in a very long letter, saying he loved her and wanted to make amends.

“But he finished the letter with the suggestion that the two of them should pose for a picture or stage a picture to show the world they’d made up.

“She was absolutely devastated.

“It was posing for pictures that had started this mess, and now he wanted to do the same thing with her?

“She just couldn’t believe it so she didn’t reply.

“He has her number, she hasn’t changed it. But he’s never called or texted, despite what he says.”

The friends, said to be in Meghan’s inner circle, told the publication that the former actress had even called her dad on the morning of her wedding, saying: “I think she will always feel genuinely devastated by what he has done.”

It come after Thomas Markle claimed he had not had any contact with Meghan since she married Prince Harry last May.

He was left embarrassed after it emerged he had staged photographs with paparazzi in the lead up to the royal wedding.

Friends said Meghan had asked her dad about the story before it was released, with the recluse swearing “up and down” it wasn’t true.

They said: “The next day, the pictures come out.”

Thomas last year claimed he feared he had been ghosted by Meghan — begging her to text him.

But Meghan’s friends said she had been a “rock” for everyone in her family, saying: “The fact that this could be flipped around, that she was acting out or not caring for him, is preposterous.”

Sticking up for Meghan, the group of friends also hit out at claims she was “difficult” — as well as speculation she had clashed with sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

They said: “She is the same person though everything around her has changed.

“There is nothing behind the feud with Kate. It’s completely untrue.”

DID BABY SUSSEX KICK?

It comes as an adorable video has emerged that appears to have shown Meghan glancing down at her stomach which keen onlookers have suggested is baby Sussex giving mum a bit of a kick.

In the video, the 37-year-old appears distracted as she and Harry listen to a talk during a tour of the Bristol Old Vic theatre — and after looking at her stomach, closes her eyes and smile.

Behind-the-scenes Meghan Markle photos from Suits set shared to Instagram

Meghan Markle’s former co-star has shared some never-before-seen photos of the Duchess on Instagram.

Meghan Markle starred in hit show Suits between 2011 and 2017, departing from the series when she took on the role of a member of the Royal Family, having become engaged to Prince Harry.

Now, Patrick J. Adams, who played Meghan’s on-screen love, shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the set, with some incredible photos of the Duchess of Sussex.

As the show’s final episode is set to air tomorrow, Patrick has been reminiscing on his time in the show, with some incredible snaps of the cast. He writes “This week the last episode of Suits will air and the nearly 10 year journey we’ve all been on together will finally be over. So it seems right to post some photos the next couple of days from the early days. This photo was from the first fitting I ever had for Mike Ross.”

He added that the cast is “the best family you can ask for.”

Suits famously made reference to Meghan Markle’s new life as royalty after her exit from the show. In one scene, Patrick’s character Mike Ross was asked how his wife was doing (formerly played by Meghan,) to which he replied: “If I told you how good, you probably wouldn’t believe me.”

It seems there was a lot of love on set!

Star shares never-before-seen photo of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, looks unrecognisable in an epic photo of her younger self, shared by a former acting colleague.

Meghan Markle is basically unrecognisable in possibly one of the most epic “throwback” photos of the new royal.

“Meghan and I did musicals together as kids,” McPhee wrote on Instagram.

“She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me.”

Well before her Suits or royal era, Markle, now 37, is shown with heavy makeup, red lipstick and thinner eyebrows, with a beaming smile.

It’s been a dramatic transformation for the pregnant Duchess, who sported a sophisticated look out in London today for an official engagement for the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Arriving at the University of London, Markle wore a black Givenchy coat and pleated dress, Meghan had her hair pulled back in a bun — and neutral-coloured lips that were a far cry from that red lippy.

Meantime, former Smash starMcPhee, 34, is now engaged to legendary composer David Foster, 69.

Earlier this week, McPhee shut down a troll who called out the couple’s 35-year age gap.

McPhee took to Twitter this week to share an update on her upcoming nuptials, according to Fox News.

“Picking your bridal party is like a real life MySpace top 8,” the 34-year-old joked on Twitter.

While most of the responses to the star’s tweet were positive, one user wrote back: “Except MySpace lasted longer than this marriage ever will @jessicaleighleigh.”

The Smash actor wasted no time responding to the commenter, writing: “I’m assuming it also lasted longer than any relationship you ever had with a hairdresser?”

The exchange was shared by the Instagram account @Commentsbycelebs.

This is hardly the first time McPhee has had to defend her relationship with the famous music producer.

In July, the star defended her relationship, telling fans they should be “worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me”.

A couple of months later, the musical couple spoke out about their age gap and said that they don’t care what people have to say about their age difference.

“It doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, but it does to us,” McPhee told People at the time. “He has things to learn from me and I have a lot of things to learn from him, so I think we have a nice yin and yang.”

A story about Meghan Markle’s knees has sent the British press into a meltdown

The British press has gone nuts over what may be the most obscure part of Meghan Markle’s body.

The world of British tabloids is a peculiar one.

They’re obsessed with the private lives of the rich and famous, make grand proclamations about immigrants marketed towards your vaguely-racist Uncle Jeff, and their headlines seem to constantly scream at you in a Cockney accent.

But sometimes, things get so weird that you’re left to wonder whether they’re just trolling us for fun.

As we speak, some British newspapers are claiming they can literally see Princess Charlotte’s face indented in Meghan Markle’s … knees.

Yep, knees. You read that correctly.

“Princess Charlotte’s face ‘APPEARS’ in Meghan Markle’s KNEES,” roars the Daily Express headline.

“A closer look at her exposed legs left crowds open-mouthed — and for all the wrong reasons,” the article goes on. “This was because eagle-eyed fans spotted the cherubic face of Princess Charlotte in her knee.

“Equipped with the adorable Charlotte’s signature steely look, the face of the daughter of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge magically appeared in Meghan’s left knee.”

Who are these eagle-eyed fans? Why were they staring intensely at the Duchess’ kneecaps, rather than her lovely smiling face or pregnant belly?

The British press has gone wild for Meghan Markle’s kneecaps.
Metro, the UK’s highest circulation paper, described the revelation stating: “Her form-fitting £25 H&M dress grabbed the headlines for showing off Meghan’s blossoming bump but now it has been speculated that the Duchess of Sussex was making the ‘ultimate tribute’ to Charlotte as the dress was cut just above the knee.”

The ultimate tribute being to bare her knees — in all their indented alleged Charlottey glory — to the world.

British newspaper The Sun also got in on the action, describing the “bizarre yet uncanny resemblance” between Charlotte’s face and Meghan’s knees — or more specifically, her left kneecap.

“If you look closely at the shots from today’s visit to animal charity Mayhew, the cherub-faced royal’s face appears to be visible on Meghan’s left kneecap,” the article claims.

“Typically the duchess wears dresses and skirts that (are) below the knee, so this knee-prominent outfit today was a rare sight for royal fans.

“Is this the ultimate tribute to her adorable niece? Once you see it, you can’t not see it.”

If you’ve read this far, we’re sorry. But come on. There are so many questions that need to be answered. How did the newspapers even notice this? Why do they appear to be suggesting the natural indentation of Meghan Markle’s legs are somehow a deliberate tribute to her niece?

Did Meghan secretly visit a plastic surgeon and say, “Yes, sculpt the loose skin above my shins just vaguely enough that people will think it’s a tribute to my three-year-old niece”? Is there a dedicated Royal Kneecap Correspondent, creepily zooming in on various parts of the Duchess’ body, searching for any sign of resemblance to another royal?

Painful as it is to post the photo in question, let’s not pretend you’re not curious:

… maybe if you squint REALLY hard.
It’s a scary world out there.

The discourse usually features a whole lot of baseless speculation countered by the more rational argument that we won’t know if Meg’s pregnant unless she announces it.

Having said that, Meghan has said quite a bit about growing her family with Prince Harry. In fact, she’s been quite clear about how many kids she wants!

Is Meghan Markle Pregnant With Baby #3?

Despite any rumors you might’ve heard to the contrary, it does not look as though Meghan is currently pregnant.

In fact, it sounds like she and Harry are done having kids.

Harry remarked on the situation during the Sussexes’ 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“[I’m] just grateful to have any child. Any, one or two, would have been amazing but to have a boy and then a girl what more can you ask for?” she said at the time.

At the time, Meghan was pregnant with daughter Lilibet and was excited about having a full house on her hands.

“Now we’ve got our family, we got the four of us and our two dogs.”

And with that, she confirmed that having more kids wasn’t part of her family plan.

“Two is it,” the Duchess of Sussex insisted.

But you know what they say about the best laid plans – and she could change her mind. But given her pregnancy journey, we understand if she sticks to her guns.

Meghan and Harry Carry On Following Tragedy

Lili’s arrival came on the heels of a devastating miscarriage that Meghan suffered in 2020.

Meghan has mostly been silent on the subject of expanding her family further. But Harry has stated on multiple occasions that the couple is “done” having kids.

Harry made a similar remark in a 2019 interview with famed naturalist Jane Goodall:

“Two, maximum!” Harry said in response to a question about raising children.

The Duke went on to reveal that there’s an environmental component to the Sussexes’ decision not to have more kids.

“I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed,” he said (via Hello! magazine)

“And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”

What’s Next For Meghan Markle?

In addition to raising her two young ones, Meghan has a whole lot keeping her busy outside the home.

Along with Harry, Meghan is producing two new Netflix projects. Both limited series are set to premiere on the streamer within the next year.

Meghan is also developing a lifestyle brand. She’s currently rolling out American Riviera Orchard with the help of some of her celebrity friends.

In other words, Meghan is already working with a very full plate these days. So we wouldn’t expect a pregnancy announcement anytime soon!
