Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly ready to leave their Montecito mansion after reports from neighbours that they’re ‘never in’.

The Sussexes live at the impressive £11m Montecito mansion with their two children, Archie and Lillibet.

And according to the Mirror, they’re reportedly looking at a cheaper £3m home in Malibu, California, after passing on the chance to purchase a plot of land at the end of last year.

Californian locals say the couple are “never seen” at their nine-bedroom property which was used to film parts of their bombshell Netflix series Harry & Meghan last year.

One local Barry Maher, a PR and communication whizz whose TV credits include the Today show and programmes on NBC, told The Mirror people are becoming irritated with the couple’s “travelling soap opera” amid the pair’s dramatic life in the spotlight.

“Harry and Meghan live down the street but in a considerably pricier spot, though nobody around here is exactly living in cardboard boxes,” he explained. “Since we never see them, local tolerance seems to mirror USA tolerance in general.

“People who like them seem to have an unlimited tolerance, no matter what they do, somehow tied to the ‘handsome prince falls for commoner’ fairytale. Everyone else is either unimpressed by the travelling soap opera or is just sick of hearing about them.”

Harry reportedly tried to ‘sabotage’ the couple’s move to Malibu in October last year after visiting New York City and feeling ‘at home’ there instead – despite the couple’s alleged high-speed chase through Manhattan in May.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are 'never at £11m home and plan to sell', neighbours say | Royal | News | Express.co.uk

A source said Harry enjoyed “the fast pace, the culture, the social scene.” They also said it would be easier for Harry to visit family in London if they lived in New York, as the flight time is shorter.

“Harry was all gung-ho for the Malibu move a few months ago. Yes, it was Meghan’s idea, but he was excited about it. It feels odd that now he wants out of that Californian life and is suggesting they buy a place in New York instead. It’s almost like he’s trying to sabotage things because it makes zero logical sense,” the source told Heat magazine.

They said Meghan is still hoping to remain near Los Angeles for work opportunities. The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly been travelling to LA for meetings “multiple times a week”, with work expected to increase as their projects go into production.

“She says maybe once they’ve made a success of things in Hollywood, they can look at getting a place in New York,” the source told the magazine back in October.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be forced to watch on as Queen Camilla enacts the “perfect revenge” on the former royal couple.

The Queen will “get her own back” on her stepson and daughter-in-law after the Duke of Sussex attacked her in his tell-all memoir Spare, according to an expert.

The 39-year-old prince did not hold back against his “evil” stepmother with him painting his father King Charles’ wife out to be a villain.

He also accused her of leaving “bodies in the street” in her attempts to change the public’s perception of her and labelled her as “dangerous”, the Mirror reports.

Camilla was said to have been very upset by Harry’s words against her but according to royal commentator Denise Palmer Davies said the Queen has now triumphed over the Sussexes after launching her very own podcast, The Reading Room.

Speaking to The Sun, Denise said: “After all the hurtful things Harry has said about Camilla, she has finally got her own back on them.

“If her podcast does well, and I am sure it will, she will have achieved in an area they so desperately wanted to succeed in, then that is the perfect revenge.

“I bet Meghan, in particular, will be livid over the whole thing, and probably a bit embarrassed that hers fell at the first hurdle.”

The Sussexes’ saw their Spotify deal being axed in June last year, meaning Meghan’s Archetypes podcast was cancelled after just one season.

The Archetypes podcast saw the duchess sit down for interviews with female celebrities, artists, athletes, and experts to discuss the history of stereotypes against women.

Across the show, she interviewed many impressive guests such as Paris Hilton, Serena Williams and Mindy Kaling.

Camilla will be the host of her new podcast which is expected to feature guests like Joanna Lumley, Ian Rankin, David Baddiel and Elif Shafak.

The Reading Room podcast was set up to coincide with her successful online book club which she established during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Through the club, she was able to share some of the books she had read during the global pandemic with fans.

The Queen’s Reading Room series will invite listeners inside the reading rooms of authors and celebrities to discuss their own journeys through the world of books.

It will also feature some recommendations from Queen Camilla herself and will be co-hosted by Vicki Perrin.

Speaking of the podcast, Vicki said: “There is nothing quite like a brilliant book recommendation from a friend, but it’s even better when that person is one of your favourite authors or most admired persons.

“I hope that this podcast will inspire listeners to new literary adventures and help those wishing to love books a little more, find the books which set their imaginations alight.”

Meghan Markle’s ex-husband’s blunt comment about Duchess: ‘I have zero to say’

MEGHAN MARKLE’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson made a very blunt comment about her, according to a royal biographer.

Meghan Markle’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson remarries

When Meghan shot to royal fame by dating and then marrying Prince Harry, there was significant interest bubbling up about her previous marriage. However, Hollywood producer and talent agent Trevor has been remarkably tight-lipped about his ex-wife, never speaking to the media about her. According to Andrew Morton’s book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, Trevor was still angry about how things ended between him and Meghan.

It was reportedly for this reason that he told inquirers: “I have zero to say about her.”

In fact, Trevor was so hurt and taken aback by Meghan’s sudden decision to end their marriage, it is said he does not even like to hear her name anymore.

Mr Morton wrote: “It was such a surprise for Trevor that even at a distance of five years, he can barely contain his anger.

“The normally laid back New Yorker switching gear from his usual ‘hi bro, how’s it going?’ to a cold fury when her name comes into the conversation.”

This claim is backed up by a comment made by Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jnr.

In an interview with Express.co.uk this year, Thomas Jnr said he has spoken to Trevor on the phone since the break-up, but that he warned him not to mention Meghan or he would hang up.

Thomas Jnr claimed: “I talked to Trevor a couple of times on a project that I was trying to put together.

“And he said, ‘I’ll talk to you, but just don’t ever mention her name because I will hang up on you. I don’t want to hear her name, period.’”

Meghan’s friend Ninaki has also been rather blunt about Meghan.

Ninaki, who was friends with the Duchess for over two decades and was maid of honour at her first wedding, decided after her break-up with Trevor that she no longer wanted to be associated with her.

While Ninaki has not explained what exactly happened that made her come to this decision, she has made some comments about Meghan that seem to call into question her former friend’s intentions.

Ninaki told the Daily Mail: “All I can say now is that I think Meghan was very calculated, very calculated in the way she handled people and relationships.

“She is very strategic in the way she cultivates her friends.

“Once she decides you’re not part of her life, she can be very cold. It’s this shutdown mechanism she has.

“There’s nothing to negotiate, she’s made her decision and that’s it. The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was hurt.”

However, another friend of Meghan’s, fellow actor Abby Wathen, was more sympathetic to Meghan’s side of the story.

She said the pair of them bonded over the fact they went through divorce and she defended Meghan’s decision.

She said: “She took her power back. It wasn’t the right relationship for her, so she moved on.”

Meghan and Trevor first met in 2004 and lived together in Los Angeles for several years.

MEGHAN Markle’s former husband Trevor Engelson is hard at work on – guess what? – a TV series about an American man whose ex marries a British prince.

Meghan Markle and Trevor Engelson married in September 2011 but divorced a year and a half later

As a sell for a TV drama it certainly has pizzazz. “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal Family in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media is next level.”

So far, so exciting. But when you learn that the man behind the show in question is Trevor Engelson, former husband of Prince Harry’s fiancée Meghan Markle, the whole thing becomes… well, next level, as the Americans say.

The film industry website Deadline Hollywood broke the news that the former Mr Markle has been commissioned by TV giant Fox to produce a pilot comedy drama – with the potential to be expanded into a full series – based on the idea of a recently divorced man whose ex-wife marries into the Royal Family and the custody battles for their children that ensue to, presumably, hilarious effect.

All concerned are anxious to point out that naturally the whole project will be a work of fiction, that the lead characters are in no way based on Meghan or Trevor (who have no children together) and that Meghan herself has no involvement in it whatsoever.

If that sounds disingenuous, it may be because it is.

According to Deadline Hollywood: “The comedy originated with Engelson and fellow producer Dan Farah who, in a conversation, mused about what would have been if Engelson and Markle had had kids and he had to share custody with the British Royal Family one day. The two liked the idea as a potential TV series.”

They were not the only ones. After pitching the idea to American TV networks, Fox bought it up “on the spot, with what is believed to be the biggest commitment for a comedy pitch at the network so far this season.”

They have also attached some impressive names to the project – most notably Danny Zuker, one of the key writers and producers of Modern Family, winner of 22 Emmy awards and widely recognised as the biggest comedy show in the world.

Although the pilot was commissioned before the announcement of Harry and Meghan’s engagement this week, the timing could hardly be better – and is set to shine a spotlight on Engelson, a man who has, until now, remained firmly tight-lipped on his ex-wife’s prospects as a princess.

But, perhaps ironically, the idea of Engelson turning his and Meghan’s post-divorce lives into a television show may not be as outlandish as it first appears. TV has defined their relationship.

The 41-year-old has forged a Hollywood career, starting as a production assistant and working his way up to produce films starring Robin Williams, Sandra Bullock and Robert Pattinson.

He is also credited as producer on the drama Snowfall, about the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, which is being shown on BBC Two. It was very different when he and Meghan first met in 2004.

She was 23 years old and he 28, and they were both struggling to gain a foothold in Tinseltown.

He took whatever work he could, she likewise landed bit parts in TV dramas, and even appeared as a “briefcase girl” on the American version of Deal Or No Deal, in which she was required to do little more than hold an attache case while looking beautiful.

    Trevor Engelson

    GETTY

Trevor Engelson is working on a TV series about an American man whose ex marries a British prince

They dated for six years before marrying in Jamaica in 2011, with one guest describing the ceremony as “over very quickly, in about 15 minutes. Then everyone hit the dancefloor. It seemed they all just wanted to party”.

The wedding coincided with Meghan’s big break, as she landed the role of Rachel Zane on the hit TV show Suits. It seems that it was this change in fortunes that spelled the end of their relationship.

A source close to the couple was quoted in American magazine Woman’s Day as saying: “Meghan landed her role in Suits just a few months before they were married.

And despite being together for six years before getting hitched, things started to fall apart not long after the wedding. They really battled with long distances.

Trevor was based in LA while Meghan was in Toronto [where Suits is filmed], a five-hour flight away. It was a very difficult way to start married life.”

Just two years after their wedding the couple separated and their divorce was finalised in August 2013 – the official reason cited as “irreconcilable differences”.

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

    GETTY

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement this week

Although it is understood to have been Meghan’s decision, Engelson has, to his credit, remained loyal to her, refusing to discuss either the breakdown of their marriage or her engagement to Prince Harry.

Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr claimed “Hollywood” tore the couple apart. “He was a nice guy,” he said. “I’m not sure what happened with them.

“They were together for a few years but I’m not quite sure what their falling out was. I guess they just decided to go their separate ways. It’s a Hollywood thing I guess.”

As she briefly dated Canadian celebrity chef Cory Vitiello before meeting Harry at a drinks party in London’s exclusive Soho House club last year, Engelson embarked on a romance with Baywatch star Charlotte McKinney, and is now believed to be dating dietician Tracey Kurland.

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

    GETTY

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry next year

And until now, it seems, he has kept any lingering regret, remorse or rancour about his ex-wife to himself, with a friend recently revealing: “The split with Meghan hit Trevor pretty hard.

“He went through a rough time during the break-up and that was only made worse when Meghan got together with Harry last year.

“He had to relive it all again – this time in public. It wasn’t the most amicable of divorces and there were hurt feelings on both sides.

“Now he has bounced back and things are looking great for him. He has a new woman and his career is going from strength to strength.”

But with his latest project set to draw parallels with the love triangle between himself, Meghan and Prince Harry, it seems that Trevor Engelson may not be quite ready to put the past behind him just yet. Or maybe it’s just that, as an experienced Hollywood producer, he knows a ratings smash when he sees one.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are said to be struggling after an expert suggested that they are facing “financial challenges”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they were becoming financially independent when they made their shock exit from the Royal Family back in 2020.

The couple signed a number of lucrative deals to help pave their way in their new Hollywood lifestyle but their eye watering $25m contract with Spotify came to an abrupt end last year after their Archetypes podcast was axed.

There were also rumours that Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal was at risk as it was reported that they were asked to come up with “more great ideas” after their Netflix deal if they wanted to be paid £40m in outstanding fees.

However, a Netflix spokesperson has confirmed that the couple’s deal isn’t ending “anytime soon”, the Mirror reports.

They said: “The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date. Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon.”

Royal author Tom Bower does not seem convinced however as he said the Sussexes have “no new income streams, no new companies”.

Speaking to Closer magazine, he added: “Everything they’ve attempted to do to relaunch themselves I think in the end has been utterly unsuccessful and has failed.”

Tom believes the couple’s “desperation” to find their new career path could continue into 2024 if they fail to make any announcements soon as he believes their names were unfortunately “tarnished” after being slammed by Spotify executive Bill Simmons who branded them as “grifters”.

The Sussexes’ have some pretty high outgoing that they will need to consider when planning out their next career move.

For example, their $14.6m mansion in Montecito, California which they bought when they left the Firm will not pay for itself.

The Sussexes secured the nine-bedroom pad just months after stepping down as senior royals which boasts chandeliers and marble coffee tables.

The former Suits star previously admitted that they weren’t going to view the home as they didn’t have jobs as she said the thought of them living there “wasn’t possible”.

However, Meghan and Harry fell in love with the mansion and did “everything they could” to buy it.

They also splash a lot of cash on security for themselves and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

It’s been reported that the bill for security is around $2m (£1.5m).

Speaking to Page Six, a source said Meghan and Harry were forced to fork out the money after the Royal Family took away their bodyguards.

As well as security, the Sussexes’ pay their own private travel.

Back in November, they were seen boarding a private jet to travel from California to Nevada for Katy Perry’s Las Vegas residency show.

The Sussexes’ travelled onboard a 2009 Gulfstream jet that belongs to one of their friends, oil company heir Michael Herd.

The former royal couple also travelled on a private jet to the Caribbean last year for a family trip.

Meghan also enjoys her designer clothing and has some high-end pieces in her wardrobe with the duchess showing off a wardrobe worth £86,612,16 last year alone.

It’s not known whether the mum-of-two pays full price for her clothes, or if she receives discounts from designers for wearing their fashion.

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has shrugged off the record number of Ofcom complaints that he received during his time on the show.

Back in March, Piers stormed out of the studio after an on-air spat about Meghan Markle with weatherman Alex Beresford which led him to later quit the ITV show and thousands of people to complain to Ofcom.

The 56-year-old pointed out that none of the Government-related complaints against him were upheld, writes The Mirror.

Piers then referred to Meghan as “Princess Pinocchio” as he suggested that complaints made against him for remarks he made about her wouldn’t be upheld either.

Over 54,453 people flocked to Ofcom to complain about the presenter after Piers suggested that he didn’t believe the Duchess of Sussex when she said she felt suicidal during her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It overtook Diversity’s Black Lives Matter performance on Britain’s Got Talent as the most complained about moment ever.

Piers also bagged the sixth, seventh and 10th places after his interviews with Helen Whateley MP and Victoria Atkin MP.

Sharing an article revealing he had nabbed four spots in the top 10 most complained about moments, Piers tweeted an emoji wearing sunglasses.

He then tweeted a BBC article about the complaints, suggesting that Ofcom had seen “unprecedented” numbers of complaints with Piers attributing to a large portion of them.

Piers wrote in response: “What this doesn’t say is that NONE of the Govt-related complaints against me were upheld, and I don’t expect the complaints relating to Princess Pinocchio to be either. How can @Ofcom possibly conclude I must believe a proven liar…?”

Ofcom confirmed in the report that “in many of the cases above, [they] did not find the issues warranted an investigation”.

A spokesperson added: “We’re a nation of TV lovers, and it’s kept us entertained and informed like never before during lockdown. From time to time viewers see things that trouble them, and that’s where we come in.”

Meghan Markle was noticeably missing from the Golden Globes last weekend as the rest of her former Suits co-stars had a mini-reunion at the star studded ceremony.

The former actress shot to fame on the legal crime drama in which she played Rachel Zane for seven seasons of the hit show, becoming a Hollywood name before she met Prince Harry.

The duchess gave up her acting career once she became a member of the Royal Family but has become more focused on their production company Archewell Productions since the Sussexes’ shock exit from the Firm in 2020, the Mirror reports.

Her co-star and love interest in Suits, Patrick J. Adams shared his thoughts about the likelihood of Meghan returning to acting during an interview with E! News host Keltie Knight on the red carpet.

Patrick turned the question back around to Keltie, saying: “You heard that rumour? She told you that directly?”

Keltie was forced to awkwardly admit that she had “made up” the rumour that Meghan would act again as she asked: “But would you ever team up again?”

Staying loyal to his former co-star, Patrick said: “I think Meghan’s a fantastic actor, so we’d be lucky to have her back in the industry.”

Amid rumours of a Suits reboot, the actor added: “Yes, let’s go, I’ll do it again!”

However, fans were not as convinced as they were quick to brand Patrick’s enthusiasm to work with Meghan as fake.

One took to social media to write: “From the guy’s reaction, it is a rumour. It is obvious the cast don’t want to work with Meghan again.”

Another echoed: “The cast obviously don’t like her. They don’t group chat with her. Period.”

This referred to a previous interview with Gina Torres, who played Jessica Pearson on the show, confirmed that she didn’t even have Meghan’s phone number.

Patrick also spoke about the recent rise in popularity of the show that ended in 2019.

Suits went on streaming services such as Netflix and Peacock last year and the viewership was off the charts, meaning a possible reboot to the show is now in the making.

Fans believe it could follow Patrick and Meghan’s characters as they live their lives in another American city.

The characters of Mike Ross and Rachel Zane both left in the seventh season of the show as they got married and took up jobs in Seattle.

The show continued on for another two seasons before it came to an end in 2019.

A royal expert claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s showbiz dreams are “falling apart” one year after the couple’s hit programme.

The couple’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan was the streaming giant’s most-viewed factual series of 2023. But with one year left on their Netflix deal, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam says they face a “ticking timebomb”.

The remarks come a week after the Golden Globes in which host Jo Koy said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “being paid millions by Netflix for doing nothing”.

The Mirror reports Netflix told the couple to produce more content of real interest in order to be paid the remainder of their £40million contract.

And according to Richard, things are looking bleak for the Sussexes unless they buckle down before the contract between Archewell, their production company, and the streaming service ends. Whilst speaking about the couple to The Sun, he claims public interest in the couple will wane as they have produced “nothing” after the Netflix series.

Jo Koy at the 81st Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

He told the publication: “If you simply trash your family, which is the only time it does seem to mean that you get megabucks, and do nothing else, then you must expect people not to take you seriously.”

And with the Netflix contract expiring in 2025, Richard says: “If they lost that, they really would be losers in every sense.”

Richard says royal watchers have yet to see if Harry and Meghan have the capacity to create anything of real value. Despite the attention the documentary about the couple drew, it failed to rank in the top 200 shows on Netflix from January to June. Harry’s series Heart of Invictus, released months later, failed to make top 10 lists in the UK and US.

The couple also split from Spotify last year, ending their previously agreed £18 million contract with the platform. In 2021, Meghan’s animated series Pearl was quietly dropped by Netflix.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been issued a warning from police that their £11.8m mansion is a potential target for thieves after one of their neighbours was recently burgled.

Following a series of break ins within the area, one of which was just five minutes away from the Sussexes’ lavish home in Montecito California, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office issued a statement as they warned that criminals are going for unoccupied properties.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff officer Rachel Zick said: “In the past week, deputies have taken several burglary reports with notable similarities in the resident layouts, times of occurrence and items taken.

“In these burglaries, criminals target unoccupied residences that back up to open spaces such as golf courses as well as creeks, streams or the ocean.”

This will undoubtedly spark concern for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as their home might have been empty during one of the burglaries as the couple recently jetted off to Jamaica to attend the film premiere of Bob Marley: One Love, OK! reports.

Rachel added: “Investigators have noted most of these crimes tend to occur between the hours of 6pm and 10pm.

“The most recent burglaries occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the 1500-block of Las Tunas in Montecito, and two in the 800- block of Sand Point Lane, Carpinteria. The suspect(s) in these cases are targeting safes.”

This is not the first time that Harry and Meghan have been alerted about potential thieves as it was revealed back in July 2022 that their mansion had six break-in alerts within the first 14 months of their move to the US.

Two of these were intruder scares with police rushing to respond as both calls were logged as “trespasser”, “property crimes” and “suspicious circumstances”.

The former royal couple who live in their Montecito mansion with their two young kids have spent a hefty sum on security to ensure their family’s safety.

It’s been reported that the bill for their security equates to $2million (£1.5million).

A source told Page Six that the Sussexes forked out this amount after the Royal Family took their bodyguards away.

The couple are said to currently employ Barack Obama’s security guard Christopher Sanchez.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, Andrew Holness, Juliet Holness and Olivia Grange attend the Premiere of “Bob Marley: One Love” at the Carib 5 Theatre on January 23, 2024 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Harry and Meghan’s recent surprise trip to Jamaica has not only caused concern regarding the security of their home but also led to reports they were being ‘calculated’ towards King Charles as they rubbed shoulders with individuals who have announced they are publicly against the monarch.

They were reportedly seen chatting with the Caribbean isle’s minister for legal and constitutional affairs on the red carpet.

Marlene Malahoo Forte is reported to have previously vowed to “sever ties” with the British monarchy and said that the “time is now”.

The duke and duchess also posed for pictures with Prime Minister Holness and his wife Juliet.

Mr. Holness had previously took Prince William and Kate Middleton by surprise during their Caribbean tour when he revealed his future plans for his nation to “move on” from the British monarchy.

A new tell-all book threatens to make shocking revelations about Meghan Markle from her ex-husband. Trevor Engelson started dating the Suits actress in 2004 before getting married in 2011.

But the marriage only lasted 18 months and the couple were granted a no-fault divorce in 2013 citing irreconcilable differences. Mr Engelson, who has since remarried, is a film producer and literary manager, reports The Star.

A new biography of the Duchess of Sussex from Tom Bower promises fresh interviews with Mr Engelson, which the writer teased during an interview with Closer magazine. A previous book Mr Mr Engelson claimed Meghan made him feel like “a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe” by the end of their marriage.

Mr Bower said “Similarly, she cut off her ex-husband when her career started taking off. She seems to me to be a very ambitious, unforgiving person.”

Royal expert Neil Sean believes the book could allow her ex-husband to unleash his feelings and said he may have “an axe to grind.” Speaking on his YouTube channel he said: “This particular individual would truly have a remarkable story because, after all, he would have first-hand experience of what it was like, yes what it was like, to be married the first time around to the actress from Suits.”

It has also been reported that Mr Bower will expose the ‘untold story’about what happened behind the walls of Kensington Palace and Frogmore Cottage before her move to Montecito. It was alleged that the Duchess had driven two personal assistances out of their job and undermined the confidence of another member of the Royal Household. At the time, Meghan’s spokesperson said the Duchess of Sussex was “saddened” by the reports.
