Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle drawn back into Celia and Ray plot tonight – as showdown looms

t’s clear that Celia is implicating her so-called friend in money laundering scams, so Moira fiercely demands answers over what’s going on.

Emmerdale's Cain Dingle drawn back into Celia and Ray plot tonight – as showdown looms - Yahoo News UK

The tensions play out publicly at The Woolpack and Celia shows just how manipulative she can be, as she pretends to be the injured party in front of the other punters.

Later, Moira confides in Cain about the mess that she’s now in thanks to Celia. Going to the police seems out of the question, as she could find herself in a whole world of trouble if she draws attention to the situation.

When Cain points out that Celia’s son Ray is also a dodgy character, he suggests that it’s time for decisive action…

“I’m thinking I don’t trust [Ray] either,” Cain muses. “The way he was when Marlon backed into his car.

We go there tomorrow and we ask questions together…”

Moira replies: “Okay, agreed. I don’t take kindly to conniving, two-faced users. You better brace yourself, Celia.”

Prince William and Kate release family’s 2025 Christmas card featuring George, Charlotte and Louis – who is showing off his adorable gappy grin

he Prince and Princess of Wales released a new family photograph today for their Christmas card with children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The picture, taken by Josh Shinner in Norfolk in April, was posted on Kensington Palace’s social media with the caption: ‘Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.’

The image shows William and Kate smiling as they sit on the grass amid spring daffodils with their children, with the Princess also seen with her arm around George.

Charlotte is resting her head on her father’s shoulder and holding onto his arm, while a relaxed Louis – without his top front teeth – is leaning back between William’s legs.

The picture appeared to be from the same photoshoot by Mr Shinner used to capture portraits for George’s 12th birthday in July and Louis’s seventh birthday in April.

A further photo of William with their three children was released on Father’s Day in June and also appeared to be from the same picture set by the photographer.

The new image was released two days after William and Kate joined other royals at the King’s annual pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

Charles III and Queen Camilla chose their 20th wedding anniversary portrait for their official Christmas card this year, which was released to the public on December 6.

ne day earlier, the Waleses and their children joined a congregation of celebrities, sporting stars and community stalwarts for Kate’s Together at Christmas service.

Kate presided over the carol service at Westminster Abbey on December 5, with 1,600 guests filling the pews where the Princess and her husband married in 2011.

William, Kate and the children are expected to join the King and Queen along with other members of the Royal Family at Sandringham in Norfolk for Christmas Day.

Charles is also thought to have invited Camilla’s children and their families, as well as his nieces Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – but not their disgraced father Andrew.

The Waleses could also appear for the Christmas Day service alongside Charles which involves a traditional walkabout after church where they meet well-wishers.

The family-of-five experienced a major change just a few weeks ago when they moved into their eight-bedroom ‘forever home’, Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

The change is seen as a fresh start for them after Kate’s recovery from cancer, which she announced at the start of 2025, following what William branded a ‘brutal’ 2024.

Andrew meanwhile has been forced to give up his Windsor home, Royal Lodge, following an outcry when it emerged he had been paying a peppercorn rent for the property, and will move to a house on the King’s private Sandringham estate.

He was stripped of his titles in the wake of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir being released which detailed previous claims she was forced to have sex with the former prince on three occasions, including when aged 17. Andrew vehemently denies the allegations

Spencer Matthews says he felt his ‘relationship slipping away’ with Vogue Williams as he credits ‘amazing’ wife for quitting alcohol

Spencer Matthews said he felt his relationship with wife Vogue Williams ‘slipping away’ as he detailed how she helped him quit alcohol in a new candid interview.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 37, sat down for a chat with Davina McCall on her podcast Begin Again, where he opened up about how wanting to be worthy of his ‘amazing’ wife, 40, who transformed every part of his life.

When the host, 58, simply asked him: ‘How have you become this guy?’, Spencer replied: ‘Marrying an amazing woman who I want to be better for, I think, has been very helpful.’

‘Genuinely, the person I used to be isn’t good enough for my wife.’

Spencer said he made a ‘very conscious effort to become better’ when he first met Vogue – whom he married in June 2018.

‘I had big problems with alcohol. You’ll probably remember on The Jump, I was a very heavy drinker. I went sober for her initially. It then immediately almost became for me, as well.’

At that point, the two-time Guinness World Records star ‘had no idea’ how much that choice would eventually impact his life.

‘I could just see the relationship slipping. I could see that she would lose interest in me and put me on some scrap heap somewhere if I didn’t make an actual change to my own health. The fear of losing her was quite real.’

Throughout the interview, Spencer heaped the praise on Vogue as he said: ‘She’s got it all. She’s a very special person. And she lights up rooms that she walks into. She’s immensely popular.

‘I’ve never met anyone, really, that doesn’t immediately warm to her. Incredible sense of humour. Very beautiful.

‘And you only have to spend a few hours with her around her kids to just see what a special mother she is, as well. Completely selfless and very special.’

The British TV icon – who is also founder of CleanCo non-alcoholic spirits – also said he had always been ‘quite selfish’ in every previous relationship before finding love with the Irish stunner.

‘I would go out and drink and stay out all night and do whatever I wanted. And if it didn’t work, it didn’t work, and that was that.

‘I’ve never considered marrying anyone but Vogue’.

Vogue just recently returned from her gruelling stint on I’m A Celebrity, where she was the third celebrity to be evicted from the Jungle, while AngryGinge was seen to win the show overall.

On her eagerly-anticipated return, the model revealed all the ‘intense’ cosmetic tweakments she’s had done since returning home from the ITV show – joking that jungle life left her ‘rotting’.

The podcaster and presenter posted her first ever YouTube vlog on Sunday – a week after the show filmed in Australia ended and she flew back home.

In the debrief vlog she was sat in the salon as she said: ‘I’m getting all the important jobs done today. I’ve come in to Debbie Thomas. I have put on some numbing cream as I don’t know what we’re doing but I hope it’s intense.’

As the beautician got to work with potions and lotions on her skin she added: ‘So in the jungle we were given lotion for our body and face and soap so I have just broken out so we are going to try and sort that out.’

Golfer Rory McIlroy has claimed the top prize at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. The 36-year-old won the Masters in April, beating Englishman Justin Rose in a play-off to complete the career grand slam of golf’s four major titles.

He then contributed three-and-a-half points to Europe’s tally as they beat the United States to win the Ryder Cup in New York, their first away victory over the US in 13 years. McIlroy won the public vote for the BBC prize ahead of England’s Rugby World Cup-winning star Ellie Kildunne and Formula One world champion Lando Norris.

England footballers Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton, and darts world champion Luke Littler were the other three shortlisted stars.

McIlroy’s success makes him the first golfer to win the award since Sir Nick Faldo in 1989 – the year he was born. He also becomes the first male winner since Sir Lewis Hamilton in 2020, and the first Northern Irishman to win it since AP McCoy in 2010.

Strictly Come Dancing star will not return for final after sharing major regret

He came close to winning it in 2014, losing out to Hamilton despite winning the Open and the US PGA Championship that year.

McIlroy, who flew in from the Golf Channel Games event in Florida to attend the ceremony in Salford, also won a seventh Race to Dubai title this year, leaving him one behind Colin Montgomerie’s record.

Accepting the award on stage, he said: “2025 has been the year that I made my dreams come true. From Augusta to the Ryder Cup and everything else in between, it really has been the year that dreams are made of.

“I’ve a lot of people to thank. Firstly, the public, thank you for voting me as your Sports Personality of the Year, but my family, my mum and dad, they sacrificed so much for me and I obviously wouldn’t be here without them.

“My wife, Erica, my daughter, Poppy, they’re what holds me together, my rock. They couldn’t be here tonight, they’re back in America, but I can’t wait to get back to see them tomorrow and celebrate this with them as well. So thank you for all your support, everything that you’ve done for me over the years.”

McIlroy had been marked for stardom from an early age. Home videos of a three-year-old McIlroy practicing in his living room captured a precocious talent, as well as a television appearance aged nine when he chipped balls into a washing machine.

He shot a course record 61 at Royal Portrush aged 16 and came to wider prominence with the only bogey-free round in an opening 68 at the 2007 Open at Carnoustie, before winning his first major at the 2011 US Open.

McIlroy and his Ryder Cup colleagues also secured the Team of the Year prize.

David Stancombe and Sergio Aguiar, the dads of Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Aguiar who were murdered at the Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport in July 2024, were recognised with the Helen Rollason Award for their fundraising efforts at the London Marathon in April.

An emotional moment saw the two dads accept the prestigious award. Clare Balding said: “The memory of those wonderful girls is very much here with us tonight.”

The money raised contributed to projects set up in the memory of their daughters and Bebe King, who was also killed in the attack.

David Stancombe said as he accepted the award: “I’m just a dad keeping a promise to his little girl.”

Former Arsenal and France forward Thierry Henry was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award by his four children, while pole-vaulter Armand Duplantis won the World Sports Star of the Year for the second successive year.

Sarina Wiegman, who steered England in their successful defence of their Women’s Euro title, won coach of the year, having also done so when the Lionesses won the tournament on home soil in 2022. Michelle Agyemang, one of the stars of Wiegman’s team, won the Young Sports Personality of the Year prize

Elsie and Pete have been linked since March 2025, and announced they were expecting in July via an Instagram post filled with snaps of her growing baby bump. Despite their whirlwind relationship, the duo told Bumble that their connection felt inevitable.

“When we went on our first date, we went out to dinner for the first time, I was like, ‘Okay, don’t think that I’m crazy, but I just know you’re going to be the father of my children,” Elsie shared.

“Yeah. I was like, ‘I know,’” Pete added. Baby Scottie is likely named after Pete’s late father, Scott Davidson, a firefighter who passed away during the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

“It’s easy to be sad and try to make myself sad about,” Pete told USA Today about his father not being present for the birth of his grandchild. “It’s a beautiful thing. If anything, maybe he’s coming back through the baby.”

The SNL alum has been open about how his father’s death deeply impacted him, particularly since he wasn’t made aware of what had happened until weeks later.

“My dad told me he was going to pick me up from school on 9/11. I got picked up by my mom. She didn’t tell me what was going on for like three days,” he said on the Real Ones podcast. “She kept telling me, ‘Dad’s at work,’ ‘He’s coming home,’…I had no idea.”

“Then one night, I turned on the TV, and I just saw my dad on the TV,” he continued. “I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’ And they were like, these are all the firemen that are dead.”

“It was weird because we didn’t know he was dead for, like, three weeks,” Pete added. “They were finding people, you know? They were pulling people out…and there was just some sort of hope. It was just up and down, and nobody knew how to deal with it.”

Sports Personality of the Year host Gabby Logan’s kids have moved out, making her wonder if it’s time for a change

V host and former athlete Gabby Logan is lighting up our screens tonight as host of the Sports Personality of the Year awards, adding to her already busy schedule, including Match of the Day, which she took over hosting from Gary Lineker this summer.

When she’s not working hard, the 52-year-old relaxes at her sprawling mansion in Buckinghamshire – but it’s not quite as busy in her and her husband Kenny’s country pad as it once was, since their twins Lois and Reuben both left home.

Now with an empty nest, Gabby’s mind wanders to where she might move, telling us: “Whenever I look at property porn, I always put Edinburgh in,” before adding: “But it’s totally impractical, I’d spend my whole life on a plane, coming south or going to Manchester.”

Although she toys with the idea of selling up, she’s aware the kids might not be ready for that just yet, explaining: “I feel as we’re close enough to London that if Lois did get a job in London, she’d want to be living back at home. And there’s a period where I think you’ve got to take their emotions into consideration if you can, not just wrenching things away. It’s not up to them, but you can consider them for a while.”

With such a gorgeous house at home, we can see why Lois might like to return…

A HR boss caught on Coldplay’s kisscam in a viral 16-second clip has spoken publicly for the first time.

Kristin Cabot, 53, a former senior exec at tech firm Astronomer, says the moment she was shown embracing her boss at a Coldplay concert in Boston “ruined” her life.

She recalled the moment Coldplay frontman Chris Martin focused the stadium camera on her and Andy Byron, then joked: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

Cabot told The Times: “Everything just flashed before my eyes.”

The clip, filmed by another concertgoer and posted to TikTok, was viewed millions of times and sparked an online hunt to identify the pair.

Both were widely assumed to be cheating, but Cabot said that assumption was wrong.

    ‘CLOSURE’

Husband of Coldplay kisscam ‘mistress’ Kristin Cabot finally breaks his silence

She explained the embrace was the first time she and Byron had been physically affectionate and that both were amicably separated from their partners.

“I could have been struck by lightning, I could have won the lottery, or this could have happened,” Cabot said.

“But I’m not some celebrity, I’m just a mom from New Hampshire.”

At the time, Cabot was Astronomer’s head of HR and Byron was the company’s CEO.

Urgent ‘fire risk’ recall for popular household staple from Asda

She had joined the start-up in November after being headhunted for her experience at major advertising firms.

Cabot described Byron as a supportive boss who ensured women “had a seat at the table”, adding: “It was the first company in the male-dominated professions I’d worked in where I felt my gender was not an issue.”

About a month before the concert, Cabot said, they told each other they had split from their partners.

Over time, she said that support turned into what she called “a big happy crush”.

On the night of the concert, Cabot believed she was anonymous among tens of thousands of fans.

“We were sitting in the back of the stadium … in the pitch black just feeling totally anonymous,” she said.

The former HR boss revealed she did not hear the announcement that the jumbotron was about to focus on the crowd.

“So suddenly I’m just seeing us on screen.”

Her first thoughts were of her estranged husband, Andrew, who she later learned was also at the concert.

She said: “My immediate reaction was, ‘Holy s***, Andrew’s here’.”

“Then a beat later my mind turns to, ‘Oh God, Andy’s my effing boss’.”

Cabot and Byron left the stadium quickly and agreed to alert Astronomer’s board.

By the early hours of the morning, the video was already spreading online.

At 4am, Cabot said her husband sent her a screenshot of the clip with the message: “I think you should know this is out there.”

The executive said the backlash fell disproportionately on her, adding: “I became a meme, I was the most maligned HR manager in HR history.”

She also rejected accusations that she was a “gold-digger” or had “slept my way to the top”.

Even Astronomer joked about the situation a few weeks after the viral moment.

They hired actress Gwyneth Paltrow – Chris Martin’s ex-husband – for a PR stunt where she jokingly answered questions on the shocking kiss.

The company commercial was praised for its comedy and clever timing but Cabot took it as the ultimate insult.

She revealed she threw away everything she owned from Paltrow’s brand Goop for being “a hypocrite”.

Cabot said: “I was such a fan of her company, which seemed to be about uplifting women.

“And then she did this… What a hypocrite.”

Cabot went on to speak about how the fallout quickly reached her family.

“My daughter burst into tears,” Cabot said, recalling telling her children.

Her son, she said, tried to reassure her that it would “probably go away”, but “it did not.”

Astronomer launched an internal investigation, with Byron resigning within days.

The company later said it found no evidence of an affair but said leadership standards had not been met.

Cabot stepped down soon after, saying: “There was a lot of noise around me not taking accountability, but what actually happened is the board said, ‘Please stay’, and I said, ‘How?’”

She says that without the online pile-on, she could have apologised and kept her job.

Instead, she retreated to an Airbnb, saying she was in “too dark a place” to parent her children, and has since filed for divorce from her husband.

Cabot said she has struggled to find work and has been told she is “unemployable”.

She has hired a communications adviser and says she is speaking out to highlight the harm caused by online shaming.

A Tragic End for a Cinematic Genius: Howard Stern Delivers Heartbreaking Tribute to Rob Reiner Following Senseless Home Tragedy

The entertainment world has been plunged into a state of profound mourning following the shocking reports that legendary filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner has passed away in a horrific act of violence. The news, which indicates that Reiner was found stabbed to death in his home, has sent ripples of disbelief through Hollywood and beyond. Among those most affected is radio icon Howard Stern, who took to the airwaves to deliver a deeply personal and emotional tribute to a man he considered a “genius” and one of the most “loving” figures in the industry.

Howard Stern, known for his raw and often unfiltered commentary, was visibly shaken as he recounted his experiences interviewing Reiner over the years. “I just thought the world of this guy,” Stern told his audience, struggling to reconcile the gentle nature of the man he knew with the brutal circumstances of his death. To Stern, Reiner wasn’t just a celebrity; he was a “beautiful man” who managed to remain down-to-earth despite reaching the highest peaks of Hollywood success.

The legacy Rob Reiner leaves behind is nothing short of monumental. For many, he will always be “Meathead” from the revolutionary sitcom All in the Family, a role that cemented his status as a television legend. However, as Stern pointed out, Reiner’s second act as a director was perhaps even more impressive. He was the visionary behind a string of films that defined generations, including the mockumentary masterpiece This Is Spinal Tap, the quintessential coming-of-age story Stand by Me, the beloved fairy tale The Princess Bride, and the ultimate romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally. Stern even went as far as to call the Stephen King adaptation Misery “the best movie ever.”

During the tribute, Stern revisited a poignant interview where Reiner opened up about the immense pressure of being the son of the legendary Carl Reiner. Growing up in a household where comedy royalty like Mel Brooks was a constant presence, Rob faced the daunting task of carving out his own identity. Reiner shared a memory of being a terrified 16-year-old, nervously pitching a joke to his father and Brooks while they prepared for The Ed Sullivan Show. When they actually used his joke, Reiner described it as “the greatest thrill.”

Stern was particularly fascinated by Rob’s drive to be competitive with his father. Reiner recalled watching his father work on The Dick Van Dyke Show, meticulously studying how he fixed scripts and handled actors. “I wanted to be competitive with him,” Reiner once told Stern, admitting that at 14, he sat behind his father’s desk wondering, “How the hell am I going to do this?” It was this drive, born from a place of deep respect and love, that fueled one of the most successful directing careers in history.

The tragedy of Reiner’s passing is magnified by the reputation he held as a “mild-mannered and caring” individual. Stern emphasized that in every interaction, Reiner seemed genuinely connected to people, a rarity in the high-stakes environment of show business. He was a man who “turned it up to 11” in his professional life but remained remarkably humble in his private one.

As the investigation into this senseless tragedy continues, the focus remains on the incredible body of work Rob Reiner gifted to the world. From the laughter of Spinal Tap to the heart-tugging moments of Stand by Me, his influence is woven into the very fabric of modern cinema. Howard Stern’s tribute serves as a reminder that while a life can be taken in an instant, a legacy built on love, creativity, and genius is immortal. “To lose him is a real loss,” Stern concluded. “Rob Reiner, what a beautiful man.”

  • The Great Holiday Hustle: Melania Trump’s Shocking $40 Million Return to the Spotlight and the Truth Behind the White House Christmas Pageant

The Great Holiday Hustle: Melania Trump’s Shocking $40 Million Return to the Spotlight and the Truth Behind the White House Christmas Pageant

The holiday season has always been a time of transformation, but few transformations are quite as dramatic—or as lucrative—as the one currently being staged by First Lady Melania Trump. After maintaining a notably low profile throughout much of the second Trump administration, Melania has burst back onto the public stage with the intensity of a winter blizzard. However, beneath the tinsel and the towering White House trees, a story of calculated business moves, multimillion-dollar deals, and a legacy of controversial recordings is unfolding, leaving the public divided and fascinated.

For weeks, the First Lady has been the face of a relentless holiday campaign. From receiving the official White House Christmas tree to reading festive books to children and assembling care packages for the military, Melania appears to have embraced the role of the nation’s holiday hostess with newfound vigour. Yet, many observers cannot help but notice the stark contrast between this “Christmas Pageant” version of the First Lady and the woman heard in leaked 2018 recordings asking, in no uncertain terms, “Who gives a **** about Christmas stuff and decorations?”

The sudden shift in tone has coincided with a flurry of commercial activity that has raised eyebrows from Washington to Wall Street. Central to the controversy is Melania’s new line of “commemorative” Christmas ornaments. Among the collection is a brass star retailing for $90, a price point that has led critics to question whether the holiday spirit is being used as a veil for a high-end cash grab. On a recent episode of The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back, mocking the pricey trinkets and the First Lady’s seemingly “thawed” persona.

But the ornaments are just the tip of the iceberg. The real bombshell is the announcement of Melania’s new production company, Muse Films. Its maiden project? A documentary about her own life, which she has reportedly sold to Amazon for a staggering $40 million. This massive payday has shifted the narrative from festive duty to professional rebranding. Rumours are circulating that the name “Muse” is not just a nod to her former Secret Service code name, but a clever play on words—perhaps hinting at her desire to “use” films as a gateway to a new life in Los Angeles, far from the political grind of D.C.First lady Melania Trump means business in official portrait | CNN

The drama took an even more surreal turn during a recent parody segment on The Late Show, which captured the public’s skepticism through satire. The “First Lady” (portrayed as a satellite guest) quipped that she loves Christmas “the same way I love my husband—once a year,” and joked about having her sweat glands and tear ducts removed to maintain her icy, unbothered composure. While the comedy was sharp, it touched on a very real public perception: that Melania’s participation in White House traditions is a performance born of necessity rather than passion.

Furthermore, the physical state of the White House itself has become a point of contention. With reports of the demolition of parts of the historic East Wing, the satirical suggestion that Melania might sell “official East Wing rubble” for $99.99 hit a nerve with those concerned about the preservation of national history. It underscores a growing sentiment that the current administration views the symbols of the presidency through a lens of personal branding and monetization.

Perhaps the most telling moment of this holiday “hustle” came during the climax of her recent media push. When asked about her upbringing in Slovenia and the hardships of her youth, she allegedly teased a heartfelt story only to cut it short, informing the audience that if they wanted to hear the rest, they would have to buy a ticket to her $40 million documentary. “Suckers,” the parody version of the First Lady declared—a word that, while intended for laughs, reflects the cynical view many hold regarding the commercialization of the East Wing.Stephen Colbert Recalls Moment He Found Out The Late Show Was Canceled

As the nation watches Melania Trump navigate this second act, it is clear that she is no longer content to be a silent partner. She is a woman with a plan, a production company, and a very specific price tag on her time and image. Whether this is a genuine attempt to connect with the American people through the magic of the holidays or the ultimate “long game” to secure a Hollywood future remains to be seen. One thing, however, is certain: this Christmas, the First Lady isn’t just trimming the tree; she’s building an empire, one $90 ornament at a time.

  • Love Actually Secrets Revealed: Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson Share Heartbreaking Marriage Theories and Behind-the-Scenes Department Store Drama

Love Actually Secrets Revealed: Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson Share Heartbreaking Marriage Theories and Behind-the-Scenes Department Store Drama

As the festive season reaches its peak, nothing sparks quite as much nostalgia as the 2003 holiday classic Love Actually. In a delightful and somewhat revealing reunion on The Graham Norton Show, British acting icons Dame Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson sat down to reflect on the film that has become a staple of Christmas cinema. However, beyond the festive cheer and the iconic soundtrack, Thompson offered a sobering perspective on one of the movie’s most famous and emotionally taxing storylines.

For many viewers, the most heartbreaking arc in Love Actually is the collapse of the marriage between Karen (Thompson) and Harry (the late, great Alan Rickman). The tension reaches a breaking point when Karen discovers a heart-shaped gold necklace in Harry’s coat pocket, only to realize on Christmas morning that he bought it for another woman—his secretary—while she receives a Joni Mitchell CD. During her interview with Graham Norton, Thompson was asked about the resolution of that storyline, and her response was far from the “happily ever after” some fans might have hoped for.

“I think that when he gets off that plane at the end, you just don’t know,” Thompson mused, referring to the final scene where Karen greets Harry at the airport. “I think it will never be the same again. That’s the thing.” Her insight adds a layer of poignant realism to a film often criticized for being overly sentimental. For Karen, the betrayal wasn’t just about a piece of jewellery; it was the shattering of a shared life, a sentiment Thompson famously portrayed through a silent, gut-wrenching crying scene that remains one of the most celebrated performances in romantic comedy history.

The conversation took a lighter turn as Rowan Atkinson, who played the painstakingly slow and eccentric jewellery salesman Rufus, joined in to discuss their shared scene. In the film, Rufus is the man whose elaborate gift-wrapping nearly exposes Harry’s infidelity in the middle of a crowded department store. Thompson recalled the logistical nightmares of filming that specific sequence, which took place in the world-famous Selfridges in London.

Because Selfridges is one of the busiest retail hubs in the world, the production team was not permitted to film during business hours. This forced the cast and crew to work exclusively through the night, transforming the store into a makeshift film set while the rest of the city slept. Thompson fondly remembered the atmosphere, though she noted that not everyone was in high spirits during the midnight sessions.

“Alan Rickman, god bless him, was pretty annoyed about it,” Thompson laughed. “He didn’t really want to be up all night shooting. He was fairly short-tempered!” The image of the legendary Rickman—known for his deep, authoritative voice and often serious demeanour—being “grumpy” while surrounded by Christmas decorations and wrapping paper added a touch of human comedy to the legendary production storie.Graham Norton's Naughtiest Guest Created the Most NSFW Moments

While Rickman may have been struggling with the lack of sleep, Thompson admitted she found her own ways to pass the time in the empty department store. “I just did a spot of shopping,” she joked, leading Graham Norton to playfully suggest she might have been “shoplifting” during the off-hours. The chemistry between Thompson and Atkinson was palpable, reminding audiences why their brief interaction in the film remains such a standout moment of comedic tension.

Beyond the anecdotes, the reunion served as a tribute to the enduring legacy of the film and the talent of those involved. The late Alan Rickman’s performance as the flawed husband continues to be a point of discussion for fans, and Thompson’s reflections only deepen the appreciation for the complexity he brought to the role. Rufus, played with masterful physical comedy by Atkinson, serves as the cosmic intervener—a character originally written as an angel, though this was later changed to a mere mortal with a penchant for perfectionism in gift-wrapping.

As Love Actually celebrates another year as a holiday favourite, these behind-the-scenes revelations remind us that the magic of cinema often comes from long nights, short tempers, and a deep understanding of the human heart. Whether Karen and Harry’s marriage truly survived the credits is a question left to the audience, but Emma Thompson’s realistic take ensures that the conversation will continue for many Christmases to come.
