“IF THEY WANT US TO FALL APART, THEY’LL HAVE TO TRY HARDER.” — Eamonn Holmes & Katie Alexander Stun at Christmas Lunch With Defiant Show of Unity That Silences the Rumours

Eamonn Holmes and his girlfriend Katie Alexander looked blissfully smitten as they arrived at the annual TRIC Christmas Lunch on Friday — even as the broadcaster continues to navigate fragile health, a complicated divorce, and scrutiny over his new romance.

The 66-year-old presenter used his walker for support as he stepped out of a taxi outside The Londoner Hotel, smiling warmly beside Katie, 43, who stayed close to him throughout their arrival. She looked striking in a black bejewelled satin blazer paired with a delicate lace camisole, flared velvet trousers and silver strappy heels.

Eamonn, helped from the taxi by an aide, opted for a smart navy pinstripe suit as they joined the star-studded guest list inside. The festive TRIC luncheon brought together TV, radio and online personalities for comedy performances and West End carols, raising funds for Bright Young Dreams and Refuge while marking 100 years of British television.

Inside the ballroom, the couple joined fellow big names including Lizzie Cundy — who turned heads in a red lace corset mini-dress — and Dame Mary Berry, who made a rare appearance to accept the TRIC Outstanding Achievement Award for her decades of influence in British broadcasting. Anita Dobson, Bonnie Langford, Russell T Davies, Angela Rippon and Tina Daheley were also in attendance, as Doctor Who and Points of View received special Legend Awards.

But despite the glamour, Eamonn’s personal life continues to shadow his public outings. His romance with Katie is said to have “gone down like a lead balloon” with some family members, particularly amid long-standing rumours that the pair first exchanged flirty messages over a decade ago. Both insist nothing happened until after their respective marriages had ended.

For fans, the end of Eamonn and Ruth Langsford’s 14-year marriage came as a shock — though insiders say signs of strain had been visible for years, from Eamonn’s declining health to his acrimonious 2021 exit from ITV, which he later described as a “sly move” by executives.

He is now waiting for his divorce to be finalised, as well as for his share of the £3.6 million marital home in Weybridge. Sources claim that once that payout arrives, “it will be the moment Eamonn shows Katie whether he’s ready to settle down with her for good — or not.”

Insiders also say Eamonn has been showering Katie with gifts during a “rocky patch” in their relationship, including Premier League match tickets and a romantic trip to Belfast, though he reportedly pulled out of a £550,000 house purchase for her in West Yorkshire when tensions grew.

Still, at the TRIC Christmas Lunch, none of that showed. Eamonn and Katie held close to each other, smiling as they took their seats — a united front amid a year of upheaval, speculation and life-changing adjustments.

“NO SHAME!” Ricky Gervais Fans ERUPT as ITV’s Accidental Tourist Branded a Blatant Idiot Abroad RIP-OFF — Ant & Dec Series Sparks Furious Backlash

Accidental Tourist premiered on ITV on Sunday evening to a rather mixed reception as the presenting duo of Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly put their pal Stephen Mulhern through his paces.

The 48-year-old presenter was sent to South Korea by the Geordie duo to tackle his numerous anxieties, including sampling octopus, sea snails, and other unfamiliar seafood, while also embarking on a trip to a traditional naked Korean sauna.

Elsewhere in the show, he underwent acupuncture to address his needle phobia and traversed a mountain bridge to visit a spiritual healer.

Arguably, the most challenging experience was when Mr Mulhern entered the ocean alongside the renowned Haenyeo sea women, a group of free divers. He only just managed to complete the task.

“I’m frightened of food, I’m scared of strange places, I’ve got a fear of heights, and I’m terrified of the sea,” he explained during the programme.

“I like what I like,” he stated when questioned about his limited diet, but despite finding his phobias deeply frustrating, the presenter expressed a genuine desire for change, saying: “It’s time to make a change, and the change is now.”

While Ant and Dec found the prospect of seeing Mr Mulhern face his fears rather funny, there were plenty of emotional moments too, especially when the presenter addressed the death of his father.

However, several watching at home were left less than impressed with the show’s premise, with many drawing comparisons with Sky’s An Idiot Abroad, which featured Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington.

Over the course of the series, Mr Gervais and Mr Merchant were portrayed as the trip organisers who sent Mr Pilkington to all corners of the globe to tackle challenges outside of his comfort zone.

The comedy show made Mr Pilkington a household name, and its legacy lives on to this day, which is why some ITV viewers took to X to accuse Accidental Tourist of piggybacking on its success.

“Anyone fawning over the narcissistic #AccidentalTourist, it’s just a blatant ripoff of #AnIdiotAbroad which was done far better – less playing up for the camera and more authentic immersion in culture. @antanddec and @StephenMulhern devoid of originality once more,” one viewer brutally put.

A second echoed: “#AccidentalTourist is just Idiot Abroad with Stephen Mulhern as Karl and Ant & Dec as Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant, no?”

Elsewhere, a third said: “Why the hell are ant & dec trying to copy an idiot abroad? NOTHING will EVER come close to that show. There is only one Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington ffs #AccidentalTourist.”

Meanwhile, a fourth weighed in: “@ITV where did the idea for #AccidentalTourist come from? Feels like a bad rip-off of @rickygervais — except Ricky, Stephen & especially Karl were effortlessly hilarious. @antanddec & @StephenMulhern couldn’t find a joke in a Christmas cracker factory.”

“#AccidentalTourist basically a spin off An Idiot Abroad…see how this goes. Nothing can beat Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant,” a fifth echoed.

While a sixth claimed: “Would expect the ‘idiot abroad’ lawyers to be steaming in. Total rip off but s***e instead of funny #AccidentalTourist.” (sic)

Ricky Gervais fans have accused Accidental Tourist of ‘ripping off’ An Idiot Abroad

    | PAHowever, despite the furore, there were still plenty of An Idiot Abroad fans who urged viewers to stick with Accidental Tourist despite the similarities.

“Watching @StephenMulhern in #AccidentalTourist memories of Karl Pilkington in Idiot Abroad comes to mind. Same sort of delivery from @antanddec as @rickygervais and @StephenMerchant did for Karl! Both made me giggle! More please,” one X user pleaded.

A second addressed the comparisons head-on: “Yes it’s a bit of a rip off of An Idiot Abroad but that doesn’t mean we can’t sit and laugh and enjoy it. People slagging it off are miserable b*****ds. Life is hard enough, lighten up for f***s sake. #AccidentalTourist.”

And another applauded: “Absolutely loved #AccidentalTourist, proud of @StephenMulhern he conquered his fears, would love Stephen to get his own back on @antanddec one day.” (sic)

Mr Mulhern himself returned to social media the following day after Accident Tourist’s premiere on ITV, although he ignored any of the complaints aimed at the show.

Instead, he pushed the show on his Instagram page alongside the caption: “I danced, I cried, I ate things with eyes! Catch up on Accidental Tourist now on @itvxofficial! @AntandDec – next time, somewhere with steak and chips, yeah?”

Watch the tense exchange between Michelle Dewberry and a Labour minister as the pair locked horns on women’s safety in Britain.

Justice Minister and MP for Rother Valley Jake Richards joined the People’s Channel after analysis showed that foreign criminals are being deported in a bid to free up space in prisons up and down the country.

The presenter put it to the minister that “many viewers feel Labour is putting women and girls at risk in the country”.

But Mr Richards was quick to insist that Labour “takes police advice very seriously in relation to the small boat crisis”, citing the Home Secretary’s sweeping overhaul of asylum legislation last month.

SUSSEX CHRISTMAS BOMBSHELL: One TINY Detail on Harry & Meghan’s New Family Card Has Fans Saying “THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have gradually tweaked the style of official card they release to mark the festive season

It has been more than half a decade since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocated to the US for a fresh chapter, and the new direction they have taken is clear in the carefully curated cards they have released annually – along with the rest of the royal family – to mark the festive season.

From the outset, Harry and Meghan have forged their own path, and that’s just as true when it comes to their Christmas greetings – part statement, part scrapbook – weaving together celebrity sheen, philanthropic purpose and tender glimpses of family life.

They set the tone with their 2018 card, which celebrated their union with a shot from their wedding party. Beautifully produced and with a definite Hollywood vibe, it is perhaps the only official royal greeting to show its protagonists with their backs to the camera. Arm-in-arm, the couple gaze at the fireworks that fill the sky above them – a bold visual metaphor for trailblazers with a bright future together.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 card used an image taken on their wedding day

Their 2019 card, unsurprisingly, saw a seven-month-old Archie take centre stage, adorably gazing at the camera head on. The posed snapshot was taken by Meghan’s friend Janina Gavankar and gave royal watchers a glimpse into how the Sussexes were cherishing family time away from the spotlight, in Canada.

The couple’s son Archie was the main focus on their 2019 card

After stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California with Archie and later Lilibet, the Sussexes’ cards evolved in style and substance. In 2020, Archie enjoyed an American-style Christmas in a painted storybook scene, signalling a new chapter for the family and their embrace of life across the Atlantic.

There was an American-style theme adopted for 2020

Shift from personal photos to storytelling

By 2021, the family was complete, with celebrity photographer Alexi Lubomirski – who also took the couple’s engagement and wedding photos – capturing Lilibet’s public debut. The card read “Happy Holidays” in true US style, a small but telling shift that reflected their new identity.

Lilibet made her debut on the family’s 2021 Christmas card

From there, their greetings began to lean less on personal portraits and more on storytelling.

    Highlighting charity work

The 2022 card highlighted the couple’s accolades and charitable work, while 2024’s greeting captured humanitarian visits to Nigeria and Colombia. Yet, tucked among those official moments was a heartwarming family scene: Archie and Lili racing to greet their parents with hugs.

In 2022, Harry and Meghan’s Christmas card highlighted their work

Their charitable endeavours were on the cards for 2023

They selected a montage for 2024

This latest approach may be the truest reflection yet of the Sussexes’ world: a life that balances public impact with private joy.

And if their Christmas cards have shown us anything, it’s that Harry and Meghan will always find a way to surprise us.

Tess Daly could be heading from the Strictly ballroom to the This Morning sofa, and insiders say her next co-host might just be her husband, Vernon Kay.

The long-time TV duo are reportedly being lined up as a new presenting pair for ITV’s flagship daytime show, with comparisons already being made to iconic couple Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

Tess Daly and Vernon Kay tipped to become ‘next Richard and Judy’

Tess, 56, stunned Strictly fans earlier this year when she revealed she would be stepping down after 21 years.

The host called it the “right time to hand over the reins.” As she prepares for her final episodes on the iconic BBC dance show, speculation has been swirling about her next move.

According to Closer, sources claim the long-time host is already being courted by ITV, and the deal could be worth a seven-figure sum.

“There is serious interest,” the insider revealed. “ITV know they need warmth, credibility and connection. Tess and Vernon tick every box.”

The source added, “They’re charming, relatable and real. Viewers loved Richard [Madeley] and Judy [Finnigan] because their connection was genuine. Tess and Vernon have that same spark. They bring a wholesome energy. People trust them, and that’s gold dust.”

    Tess and Vernon

Tess and Vernon, 51, first met in 2001 and married two years later. They’ve since welcomed daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16.

Tess began hosting Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth. She later became part of a beloved double act with Claudia Winkleman after Bruce stepped down in 2013.

Meanwhile, Vernon has fronted everything from All Star Family Fortunes to his own BBC Radio 2 show. He’s also no stranger to This Morning, having stepped in as a guest presenter. The new role, insiders say, could be a “big-time” comeback for him.

Current hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have held down the This Morning fort since March 2024, following the resignations of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in 2023.

But reports suggest Cat may be considering stepping back, potentially opening the door for Tess and Vernon to take the reins.

Strictly star Amber Davies broke down in tears on It Takes Two last night (December 16) and revealed the sad reason why.

The former Love Island winner, who is competing on the hit BBC show with dance partner Nikita Kuzmin, has reached this year’s final.

However, it hasn’t been the easiest ride for the West End performer. Over the past two weeks, Amber has landed in the bottom two. Also, she has faced public criticism.

While appearing on It Takes Two on Tuesday evening, Amber and Nikita spoke to host Fleur East about their Strictly journey.

“These are the last few days, and I just feel so grateful,” she admitted. “My alarm went off this morning,” Amber continued before starting to look over at her dance partner.

While getting emotional, Amber apologised and said, “Sorry, I’m such a cryer at the minute because I love it so much,” as Nikita handed her a box of tissues.

“My alarm went off this morning, and I jumped out of bed because I was thinking, ‘Today’s the last Tuesday,’ you know?” she explained.

Amber admitted that she wants to “cherish every single moment” that she has left with Nikita.

“Sorry, why am I acting like we’re never going to see each other again?” she admitted, adding: “I’m really bad at saying goodbye.”

Amber revealed she will “miss the show so much” as she explains the “Strictly bubble is bursting”.

Following Amber’s appearance last night, viewers reacted.

“I think Amber knows she’s not going to win but I hope she still gives it her all on Saturday in the final,” one person wrote on X.

“Watching It Takes Two, bless Amber getting emotional that’s it’s almost over,” another person shared.

STRICTLY SHAKE-UP: Shirley Ballas Reveals Who She’s Backing to Host — And It’s BAD News for Anton Du Beke

Strictly star Shirley Ballas has some bad news for fellow show judge Anton Du Beke – she’s backing two other BBC stars to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman when they exit the show this week!

Earlier on this season, Tess and Claudia announced the sad news that they would be stepping down as hosts of the BBC dance show.

Since then, a number of presenters have been rumoured to be in the running to take over. And, as speculation grows that the BBC has a “golden 10” shortlist of presenters they’re eyeing to take over, head judge Shirley Ballas has a firm idea of who she wants at the helm.

    Look away now, Anton…

BBC on the hunt for new Strictly presenters

Earlier this week, it was reported that a shortlist of 10 presenters were in the BBC’s sights for arguably the hottest job in TV. It was claimed that they would be taking part in a chemistry testing day in the New Year, before the new hosts would then be decided.

Following the reports, Amanda Holden ruled herself and Alan Carr out as the new hosts, saying they love the show but they’re both too busy to commit to the series.

Shirley has also stated that she isn’t interested in a hosting role, admitting she’d prefer to “stay in her lane” and concentrate on critiquing the dancing.

The same can’t be said for fellow judge Anton Du Beke, though. He’s made no secret of the fact he wants to follow in his idol Sir Bruce Forsyth’s footsteps.

“I know Anton du Beke would love to be hosting. I know that for sure. There’s an expression in life to stay in your lane. My lane is dancing,” she said.

    So who is Shirley backing?

Speaking to The Independent, Shirley said: “I think Rylan [Clark] could be a good candidate. I think Judge Rinder would be wicked in the Clauditorium.

“But whoever they pick,” she added.

Bookies have Rylan at 6/1 to host the show, with Rob currently at 13/2. But with Shirley’s backing, could the pair now be considered frontrunners to take over?

So who else is in line to host Strictly Come Dancing?

As well as Rob and Rylan, Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh and Alex Jones are reportedly heading to the BBC’s chemistry testing day.

Rounding out the so-called “golden 10” presenters are Angela Scanlon, Zoe Ball and Alison Hammond.

The bookies’ current favourite for the role is Alex Jones. The One Show host has odds of 11/4. Holly and Bradley are joint second favourites to take over with odds of 3/1.

“SACK ME IF YOU WANT I’M NOT BACKING DOWN.” RYLAN CLARK BLOWS UP HIS ITV CAREER TO SAY WHAT OTHERS WON’T Rylan has confirmed his ITV contract is over after refusing to retreat from explosive on-air remarks about illegal immigration. Shaken but defiant, he says he has no regrets and insists some truths are worth losing a career over.

Rylan Clark has confirmed that his time at This Morning is over—this time for good. After a whirlwind week of controversy, the TV star revealed that his contract with ITV has officially been terminated following the backlash to his explosive remarks on immigration.

In an emotional sign-off, Rylan, 36, told viewers on Friday: “At last, I can finally breathe easy and speak out about those disgusting truths. I have no regrets for speaking up, even if it cost me my career. Thank you, everyone…”

The announcement marks a dramatic end to his stint as stand-in host alongside Josie Gibson, who had been covering for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard during their summer break. Josie responded on-air with: “What a week!”—but fans had no idea that it would also be Rylan’s last.

The storm began earlier in the week when Rylan clashed with viewers over his take on Reform UK leader Nigel Farage’s mass deportation plans. Speaking live on air, he questioned:

“How come if I turn up at Heathrow Airport as a British citizen and I’ve left my passport in Spain, I won’t be let in? But if I arrive on a boat from Calais, I get taken to a four-star hotel?”

Rylan insisted that he was not against immigration, adding: “This country is built on immigration—legal immigration. They pay tax, they help our country thrive. But illegal routes? That’s something we can’t ignore.”

    Streaming subscription service

He also highlighted what he saw as a growing injustice: “You’ve got people who have lived here all their lives struggling, while others are handed hotels, phones, even iPads. Something major has to change.”

    TV show subscriptions

The remarks instantly divided audiences, with critics accusing him of spreading misinformation about asylum seekers in the UK. Social media erupted, and within hours, calls were mounting for ITV to act.

On X, Rylan fought back, declaring: “You can be pro-immigration and against illegal routes. You can support trans rights and respect women. You can be straight and support gay rights. The list goes on.”

    Social media training

But by Friday, the damage was done. ITV confirmed behind the scenes that his role would not continue, with insiders revealing that the network and Rylan had “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract.

    Daytime TV merchandise

Fans reacted with heartbreak. One wrote: “Please keep Rylan and Josie on! They’re the best duo in years.” Another added: “I won’t be watching come next week—he was the only reason I tuned in again.”

The news came just as former host Ruth Langsford teased her own return to the iconic sofa. Speaking to The Mirror, she hinted she’d happily reunite with her “TV son” Rylan:

“I love Rylan. He’s like my son. We’ve worked together before, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. If ITV asked, I’d be there.”

However, with Rylan’s future at ITV officially closed, fans are now left wondering: could the duo reunite on an entirely new project away from This Morning? Ruth teased that something might already be in the works.

For now, one thing is clear: Rylan Clark is stepping away from daytime  TV on his own terms—louder, prouder, and with no regrets.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX—without one of its most outspoken stars.

Speaking to GB News, Olly Harrison said the Government and the Met Police “do not care about the rural community” after cancelling their planned Budget protest.

Speaking to the People’s Channel, Berkshire Farmers Group organisers George Brown, Dan Willis and Caroline Graham Dr Alison Heydari, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Scotland Yard, withdrew consent for the demonstration with less than 10 hours to go.

Highlighting their devastation at the U-turn by police, Mr Brown said: “Yeah Martin, we’re absolutely devastated. We’ve been working on this for months and we’ve had a great relationship with the Met.”

Asked by host Martin Daubney if the move “smacks of two-tier policing”, Mr Harrison agreed: “It smells a bit fishy to me, definitely.

“A group of farmers not that far from here organise something for Budget day, because obviously we want a positive outcome in the Budget. They’ve got some things organised and they’ve been engaged with the Met for probably two or three months.

“And it all seemed to be okay, and then just on the 11th hour, they say, ‘oh no, you can’t come with any  tractors, you can’t do this’. And it’s just like, well, why? And they are like, ‘well, it’s come from above’.

As Martin highlighted that the Met Police knew about the plans for 400 tractors to be at the protest “a month ago”, Mr Harrison responded: “Does the rural community not matter?”

Olly Harrison has warned that the authorities will need ‘the army’ to stop the tractors descending on Westminster

He explained: “What I don’t understand is that these tractors are on the way. I’ve seen on Twitter, tractors are on the way from York. They’re not going to turn around when they’re so close, are they?

“So to me, it made perfect sense to keep them all in Whitehall because no one really lives there, no one important anyway, stick them in there, let them have a chin wag, let them listen to the Budget and off they go.

The farmer stated: “Trying to stop them, what are they going to do, put a  ring around London and stop every  tractor trying to come in? It’ll just bring the police to a standstill, and they’ll need the army to stop them.”

Suggesting that the tractors and the protesting farmers will still demonstrate in Westminster on Wednesday, Mr Harrison told GB News: “Well, from what I hear, they’re still on their way.”

Farmers were set to bring their tractors to Whitehall as part of their latest protest against the family farm tax

Asked if the protesters will take their demonstration “on foot” to Whitehall if their tractors are not permitted, Mr Harrsion stated: “Oh yeah, definitely. There were a lot coming on foot anyway.

“There’s a few tractors coming, but most were on foot already.”

In a statement, the Berkshire Farmers Group told GB News: “Imposing these conditions on a protest with this short of a notice is, in our opinion, a malicious approach to preventing our right to protest, leaving little time for appeal or for facilitating their requests.

“Therefore, we, Berkshire Farmers Group and all associated organisers including but not limited to George Brown, Dan Willis and Caroline Graham, wish to inform all attendees that this protest has been cancelled by Dr Alison Heydari of the Metropolitan Police, and we absolve ourselves of all responsibilities for any attendance to this event.”

Announcing the decision on Tuesday afternoon, Scotland Yard said: “We have had a number of conversations with the protest organisers to safely manage the event.

“While people will still be able to demonstrate, conditions have been put in place to prevent protesters from bringing vehicles, including tractors or other agricultural vehicles to the protest.

“This decision was taken due to the serious disruption they may cause to the local area, including businesses, emergency services and Londoners going about their day.”

While stressing that the protest had not been banned, the Met Police added: “Any person taking part in the farmers protest must remain in Richmond Terrace, Whitehall.”
