Hugh Jɑckmɑn ɑnd Sutton Foster were spotted pɑcking on the PDA — just dɑys ɑfter whispers of “𝑗𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑦” over his sizzling on-screen chemistry with Kɑte Hudson

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster appeared closer than ever as they packed on the PDA during a romantic beach outing.

The couple were photographed wading into the ocean together, sharing lingering embraces and laughing as waves crashed around them on a romantic getaway to Costa Rica.

At one point, Jackman wrapped his arms tightly around Foster, while in another moment he was seen holding her close from behind as she reacted to the cold water.

Foster showed off her toned figure in a navy blue two-piece swimsuit, while Jackman went shirtless in patterned swim trunks as the pair soaked up the sunset during their affectionate seaside stroll.

The duo were later seen walking barefoot along the shore side-by-side, appearing relaxed and in sync.

Their loved-up sighting comes just days after reports claimed the Broadway star was ‘mad with jealousy’ over his intense on-screen chemistry with Kate Hudson.

Earlier this week, Radar Online reported that Foster, 50, has struggled with Jackman’s close bond with Hudson, 46, his co-star in the upcoming film Song Sung Blue.

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are dragged into toxic family civil war: ‘Monsters’

Jackman and Foster have been going strong since confirming their romance last year in January.

Their relationship emerged amid Jackman’s split from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, with the former couple officially finalizing their separation in June 2025.

Meanwhile, Hudson, who has been in a long-term relationship with musician Danny Fujikawa since 2016, stars opposite Jackman in Song Sung Blue, where the pair play two musicians who fall in love while bonding over their shared passion for Neil Diamond.

According to Radar Online insiders, Jackman and Hudson reportedly grew close while filming and even joked about feeling like a married couple.

One source claimed: ‘The first thing people may wonder when they see Song Sung Blue is, “Hey, why isn’t Sutton Foster in this movie with Hugh?” She’s the right age, she has the right look, and, unlike Hudson, she’s actually an accomplished singer.’

The insider added: ‘But the vision for this project required that Hugh star opposite someone who is equally famous, and that disqualified Sutton.’

While Jackman and Hudson are said to be just good friends, the source warned that the film’s promotional tour could intensify the strain.

‘With a big promotional tour ahead for Hugh and Kate, it’s only going to get worse for Sutton, even if Hugh doesn’t see what all the fuss is about,’ they said.

However, signs of tension appeared to ease earlier this month at the Song Sung Blue premiere, where an onlooker claimed Foster and Hudson were seen being ‘friendly’ and even ‘sharing a heartwarming moment’ together.

Jackman and Foster first made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the 2025 AFI Fest in Hollywood last October, and their latest beachside PDA suggests the pair are determined to put any rumors of jealousy firmly behind them.

Sources told the outlet that Foster was ‘mad with jealousy’ over the pair’s chemistry

Meanwhile, a new report from New Idea magazine claims that recent ‘peace talks’ between Jackman and Furness are said to have dramatically ended after she became upset over his recent public displays of affection with the Younger star.

An insider told the outlet, ‘Hugh and Sutton are everywhere right now – red carpets, concerts, even cuddling in the street.

‘It’s like he’s taken their truce as a green light to bring Sutton front and centre of his world – and it’s putting pressure on Deb that she’s not ready to deal with.’

The source added it had been particularly difficult for Furness to see her ex introduce his girlfriend to all their Aussie mates in New York last week when they went to an Australian pub with Hudson.

According to Radar Online insiders, Jackman and Hudson reportedly grew close while filming and even joked about feeling like a married couple (pictured December 11)

Both Jackman and Foster posted footage of the father-of-two singing Sweet Caroline with Hudson during a karaoke session, after attending the Gotham Awards together.

‘That’s hard for Deb to see, even two years after they split. They’re all her old friends too… to hear they were all singing Sweet Caroline together is just too much. She feels like she’s being rubbed out by people she was really close to,’ the insider revealed.

The outlet also claims that Jackman’s plans to bring Foster to Australia over the Christmas holidays was the final straw for his ex-wife.

‘He’s out of his mind. Deb agreed to a truce last October hoping for a peaceful family Christmas that the kids can enjoy. She can’t win,’ they added.

‘Hugh’s expecting way too much and Deb has made it crystal clear she doesn’t want the Hugh and Sutton snog show anywhere near her.’

DARK PAST EXPOSED: The owner of the Swiss ski bar where 40 people died reportedly spent time in prison for fraud, kidnapping and false imprisonment — and was allegedly a known pimp

The owner of the Swiss ski bar at the centre of a New Year’s Day inferno that claimed 40 lives and left 119 injured spent time in prison for ‘fraud, kidnapping and false imprisonment’ and was a known pimp, it emerged today.

French national Jacques Moretti, who is in his 60s, faces charges for the inferno at Le Constellation, in Crans–Montana, Switzerland, on New Year’s Day.

His venue became a death trap, after sparklers placed inside champagne bottles ignited the basement ceiling.

On Saturday, multiple media outlets in France and Belgium reported that Mr Moretti, who is originally from the Mediterranean island of Corsica, is well known to the French authorities.

In 2005 he was implicated in a kidnap plot in Savoie, the Alpine department of France close to Crans–Montana, and incarcerated.

Le Parisien reports: ‘According to our information, Jacques Moretti is no stranger to the French justice system.

‘He is known for pimping cases dating back some twenty years, as well as for a kidnapping and confinement case. He was imprisoned in Savoie.’

Quoting its own legal source, RTL, the radio network, reported: ‘The Corsican–born man in his sixties was imprisoned in Savoie in 2005, for involvement in cases of pimping, fraud, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.’

Firefighters of the regional fire and rescue service Sapeur-Pompiers de Sierre gather to pay their respects to the victims of the deadly fire

There was no initial response to the revelations from lawyers representing Mr Moretti.

He was questioned by Swiss prosecutors on Friday, along with his wife, Jessica Moretti, who is in her 40s.

Both are currently at liberty, as they assist the judicial authorities with their enquiries.

They have indicated that they will open an enquiry into ‘arson by negligence’ and ‘manslaughter by negligence’ if ‘criminal liability is established’.

In the meantime, the French couple have not been formally charged, and are free to travel.

Swiss attorney general Beatrice Pilloud said: ‘Everything suggests that the fire started with incandescent candles placed in champagne bottles, which were brought too close to the ceiling, causing a rapid and widespread conflagration.’

Mr Moretti has claimed his bar ‘followed all safety regulations’, despite being inspected only ‘three times in ten years’ by health and safety officials. Article 8 of the local fire prevention code states that inspections must take place ‘every year in buildings open to the public or presenting special risks’.

Mr Moretti, who owns three businesses around Crans–Montana, was not in the Constellation on the night of the fire, but his wife was, and suffered a burned arm.

The couple took over Le Constellation in 2015, and own a home nearby, as well as one on the French Riviera.

Sparklers also caused a fatal fire in Rouen, France, in August 2016, and prison sentences were handed down to the owners.

Fourteen people died at the Cuba Libre when youngsters became trapped in its basement.

Sparklers had ignited the ceiling, and – as at Le Constellation – the blaze spread in seconds.

In October 2019, the bar managers were sentenced to five years in prison, two of them suspended.

Johnny Autin, whose 20–year–old daughter, Megane, died in the Cuba Libre blaze said ‘more inspections and harsher penalties’ are needed.

Strictly Come Dancing star Dr Punam Krishan has revealed she is battling breast cancer as she shared the ‘shock’ diagnosis on Instagram on Sunday.

The doctor and TV star, 42, said she was given the devastating news five months ago and has been ‘to some very dark places’ since.

Dr Punam, who took part in the BBC series in 2024, explained that despite being in ‘fear’, she is taking things one day at a time.

She wrote: ‘Here goes… Five months ago, I heard the words nobody ever wants to hear: You have cancer.

‘I still find it hard to write that sentence. But it’s my reality and my truth.

‘I’ve spent almost 2 decades as a doctor, supporting patients and families through difficult diagnoses. And yet, nothing – absolutely nothing – prepares you for being on the receiving end yourself.

‘The shock. The fear. The trauma. In that moment, knowledge means very little.’

She continued: ‘I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

‘Since then, I’ve taken things one day at a time because that’s all I could do. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be cared for by the most extraordinary NHS team, from my GP through to my breast and oncology teams. And still… it’s been really hard. Much harder than I ever imagined.

‘I’ve kept this private while going through treatment, trying to protect my energy and most of all – my children.

‘My husband, my family and a small circle of friends have carried me through in ways I’ll never forget. When something like this happens, you realise very quickly what – and who – truly matters.’

Punam, who is the resident doctor on BBC’s Morning Live show, explained that she had a ‘gut instinct’ that something was wrong and urged fans to get checked.

She said has completed her treatment and has decided to share the scary news now with fans as she is ‘still shaken’ and feeling ‘heavy’.

The BBC star penned: ‘I’ve now completed treatment and I’m healing. Grateful. Relieved. Still shaken. All of those things can exist at once.

‘I’m sharing this now because carrying it quietly has been heavy. Because I’ve always believed in honesty.

‘And because life rarely looks like the highlight reel, even when it seems that way from the outside.

‘Cancer doesn’t discriminate. I had no family history. I was well. I’m a doctor. And yet – here I am.

‘What I’ve learned most is this: early detection saves lives. It saved mine. My story began with an unusual feeling – a gut instinct. Listening to it mattered. Please know your body. Trust yourself. And act early if something doesn’t feel right.

‘This experience has changed me. It’s taken me to very dark places mentally – conversations about your own mortality will do that – but it’s also stripped life back to what truly matters.

‘Your health is everything. Not work. Not possessions. Not perfection. I have so much more to share when I’m ready. For now, thank you for being here and for holding space with such kindness.’

Punam’s friends and Strictly pals quickly took to the comments to send their love including her former dance partner Gorka Marquez and professional dancer Amy Dowden, who has also suffered breast cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and affects more than two MILLION women a year

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Each year in the UK there are more than 55,000 new cases, and the disease claims the lives of 11,500 women. In the US, it strikes 266,000 each year and kills 40,000. But what causes it and how can it be treated?

    What is breast cancer?

It comes from a cancerous cell which develops in the lining of a duct or lobule in one of the breasts.

When the breast cancer has spread into surrounding tissue it is called ‘invasive’. Some people are diagnosed with ‘carcinoma in situ’, where no cancer cells have grown beyond the duct or lobule.

Most cases develop in those over the age of 50 but younger women are sometimes affected. Breast cancer can develop in men, though this is rare.

Staging indicates how big the cancer is and whether it has spread. Stage 1 is the earliest stage and stage 4 means the cancer has spread to another part of the body.

The cancerous cells are graded from low, which means a slow growth, to high, which is fast-growing. High-grade cancers are more likely to come back after they have first been treated.

    What causes breast cancer?

A cancerous tumour starts from one abnormal cell. The exact reason why a cell becomes cancerous is unclear. It is thought that something damages or alters certain genes in the cell. This makes the cell abnormal and multiply ‘out of control’.

Although breast cancer can develop for no apparent reason, there are some risk factors that can increase the chance, such as genetics.

What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

The usual first symptom is a painless lump in the breast, although most are not cancerous and are fluid filled cysts, which are benign.

The first place that breast cancer usually spreads to is the lymph nodes in the armpit. If this occurs you will develop a swelling or lump in an armpit.

    How is breast cancer diagnosed?

Initial assessment: A doctor examines the breasts and armpits. They may do tests such as a mammography, a special x-ray of the breast tissue which can indicate the possibility of tumours.
Biopsy: A biopsy is when a small sample of tissue is removed from a part of the body. The sample is then examined under a microscope to look for abnormal cells. The sample can confirm or rule out cancer.

If you are confirmed to have breast cancer, further tests may be needed to assess if it has spread. For example, blood tests, an ultrasound scan of the liver or a chest X-ray.

    How is breast cancer treated?

Treatment options which may be considered include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. Often a combination of two or more of these treatments are used.

Surgery: Breast-conserving surgery or the removal of the affected breast depending on the size of the tumour.
Radiotherapy: A treatment which uses high energy beams of radiation focused on cancerous tissue. This kills cancer cells, or stops them from multiplying. It is mainly used in addition to surgery.
Chemotherapy: A treatment of cancer by using anti-cancer drugs which kill cancer cells, or stop them from multiplying.
Hormone treatments: Some types of breast cancer are affected by the ‘female’ hormone oestrogen, which can stimulate the cancer cells to divide and multiply. Treatments which reduce the level of these hormones, or prevent them from working, are commonly used in people with breast cancer.

    How successful is treatment?

The outlook is best in those who are diagnosed when the cancer is still small, and has not spread. Surgical removal of a tumour in an early stage may then give a good chance of cure.

The routine mammography offered to women between the ages of 50 and 71 means more breast cancers are being diagnosed and treated at an early stage.

TRIPLE TRAGEDY AT SEA: A 45-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter who were swept out to sea have now been named and pictured — alongside the “hero” who lost his life trying to save them

A mother and her teenage daughter who were swept out to sea have been named and pictured.

Grace Keeling, 15, was wave-watching with her mum at Withernsea, Yorkshire, on Friday afternoon when she got caught in the water, it is understood.

Sarah Keeling, 45, bravely waded into the sea trying to reach for her daughter after hearing her call out for help.

She was joined by Good Samaritan Mark Ratcliffe – a member of the public who heroically tried to assist with the rescue.

The bodies of Ms Keeling and 67-year-old Mr Ratcliffe were recovered from the freezing water on Friday evening, while searches for Grace are ongoing.

Today, the mother and daughter were named and pictured for the first time since the tragedy took place.

Mr Ratcliffe’s family described him as a ‘true selfless hero’ after he died trying to stop the pair being swept out to sea.

He selflessly braved 12ft waves after seeing the teenager get into difficulty in the water.

Emergency services were called to Withernsea following a ‘number of people in difficulty in the water’ on Friday afternoon

Mr Ratcliffe was recovered from the water unconscious shortly before 10pm on Friday and died soon after, Humberside Police said.

The two adults came within inches of saving the teen, it is understood.

In a heartbreaking tribute to Mr Ratcliffe, his family said: ‘A true selfless hero with a heart of gold, who was so cruelly taken trying to save others.

‘So many lives are now shattered that you’re gone. You were loved by so many people, and we will all miss you forever.

‘A loving husband, father, son, brother and the best grandad anybody could ever wish for. Sleep tight, we love you, we miss you.’

Mr Ratcliffe’s son bid an emotional farewell to his father on Facebook, adding: ‘Bye Dad I miss you and I will never forget the true hero and role model you were. I will continue to make you proud.’

Friends of Ms Keeling took to social media on Sunday night to pay tribute to the mother, who was described as a ‘caring, loving person’.

One friend wrote: ‘I am genuinely heartbroken about seeing this. Sarah was one of the most genuine, respectful, lovely women I have ever met, years and years and one of my clients from the beginning. My heart to her husband and family.’

Another friend said: ‘Absolutely heartbreaking news. Sincere condolences to the families at this awful time, known Sarah for years, such a caring, loving person. Life is so cruel at times.’

The area had been cordoned off while emergency services launched their search operation

Cafe owner Paul Whitehead, 60, said the teenager was on some steps when a ‘huge wave’ crashed into her and swept her away.

He told how his staff had tried to help by throwing a life ring to the girl.

‘This was a tragic accident. The girl was enjoying the spectacle of the waves, but the sea was so rough she got swept away by the force of the water,’ Mr Whitehead told The Sun.

‘One of my staff tried to help her with a life ring. The girl grabbed the ring, but the sea was so rough she couldn’t hold on.’

A statement from Humberside Police said: ‘Following reports of concerns for safety for people in the water in Withernsea, with the permission of the family, Humberside Police can now confirm that a mother and daughter, 45-year-old Sarah Keeling and 15-year-old Grace Keeling, were involved in this tragic incident, alongside 67-year-old Mark Ratcliffe, a member of the public who died trying to assist with the rescue.

‘The bodies of Sarah Keeling and Mark Ratcliffe were recovered on the evening of Friday, 2 January 2026. Searches are still ongoing to locate Grace.

‘Both families continue to be supported by specially trained officers.’

Humberside Police previously confirmed that two bodies were pulled from the water. They called off their search for the girl on Saturday night after being hampered by blizzards and sub–zero temperatures.

The tragedy came hours after a 51–year–old from Kettering died after getting into difficulty in the sea at Brighton on New Year’s Day.

HEARTBREAKING UPDATE: Zion Foster has broken his silence following the devastating health news involving his and Jesy Nelson’s eight-month-old twins.

Jesy Nelson‘s partner Zion Foster has spoken out after the singer shared the news that their twin daughters have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The genetic neuromuscular disease causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting due to motor neuron loss.

Now, taking to his Instagram Stories, Zion shared a photo of his daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe resting in what appeared to be a stroller.

Despite having tubes attached to their noses, the two tots could be seen smiling widely.

Alongside the image, Zion penned: ‘Still smiling through all the challenges. Daddy loves you so much.’

Earlier in the day, Jesy was tearful as she explained that the condition ‘affects every muscle in the body down to legs, arms, breathing and swallowing’, adding that ‘essentially what it does over time is it kills the muscles in the body.’

Jesy Nelson’s partner has shared a new photo of their twin daughters after the singer revealed their heartbreaking diagnosis

On Sunday, the former Little Mix star, 34, explained that after ‘the most gruelling three or four months’ her daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Choking back tears the singer told the camera: ‘If it’s not treated in time your baby’s life expectancy will not make it past the age of two.’

She went on to explain that Great Ormond Street have advised that the girls ‘are probably never going to be able to walk or regain their neck strength so they will be disabled.’

She added: ‘The best thing we can do right now is get them treatment and hope for the best.’

Jesy welcomed her twin daughters with partner Zion on May 15, 2025.

She spent much of her difficult pregnancy in hospital before the girls were delivered at 31 weeks which was followed by a stay in the NICU.

The singer opened her video by explaining that it was her mother who first noticed the twins were not moving as much as expected.

Jesy and Zion also realised the girls were struggling to feed properly, but were reassured by health visitors and GPs that as their babies were born premature they may be delayed in hitting certain milestones and not to compare their children to others.

‘After the most gruelling three, four months and endless appointments the girls have now been diagnosed with a severe muscular disease – SMA Type 1,’ she then explained.

Earlier in the day, Jesy explained that the condition ‘affects every muscle in the body down to legs, arms, breathing and swallowing’

‘Once the girls got treated, it was a very rapid process because time is of the essence with this disease’ Jesy said of the twins’ treatment plan from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, adding that there is no cure for SMA.

She said the girls have had their treatment over the past few weeks which ‘I am so grateful for because without it they will die.’

‘It has just been endless hospital appointments, I feel like the hospital has become my second home and I feel like I have had to become a nurse because I have to put them on breathing machines and do stuff that no mother should have to do with their child.’

Jesy broke down as she admitted: ‘The last few months have been the most heartbreaking time of my life. I literally feel like my whole life has done a 360. I almost feel like I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.

‘I truly believe my girls will defy all the odds with the right help and do things that have never been done.’

She ended her video by explaining she wanted to make the post to help others and raise awareness of early diagnosis in children and the signs to look for which include floppiness in babies, bell-shaped bellies and rapid breathing.

She also stressed the need for a heel prick test at birth ‘which can literally save their legs, and so many parts of their body.’

Children are born with SMA if both parents have a faulty gene that causes the condition — one in 40 is a carrier.

The singer opened her video by explaining that it was her mother who first noticed the twins were not moving as much as expected

Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were born at just 31 weeks old, after Jesy was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS)

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a disease that weakens a patient’s strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord.

Those affected never gain the ability to walk, eat or breathe.

SMA is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

It is genetic and passed from parent to child.

There are four primary types of SMA—I, II, III and IV, which are based on age of onset and the physical milestones achieved.

    Type I

    Onset is shortly after birth
    Weakness
    Difficulty breathing, sucking and swallowing
Never reach the developmental milestone of being able to sit on their own
Children with type 1 SMA can survive for a number of years

Prior to 2019, babies with SMA type 1 often wouldn’t survive until their second birthday, and infants with the milder type 2 would never walk, facing life in a wheelchair as well as multiple surgeries and respiratory infections.

But in the past five years treatments have been approved for use on the NHS that can stop the disease in its tracks.

The catch is that they need to be started within the first weeks, or even days, of life.

As babies in the UK aren’t tested for SMA, for many the diagnosis comes too late for this. Campaigners and senior experts are pushing for that to change.

SMA stems from a fault with the SMN1 gene, which should stimulate the production of SMN protein that maintains the health of the nerve cells involved in the transmission of signals between the brain and spinal cord and the muscles, which control movement.

In the absence of this protein, these nerve cells (called motor neurons) die off and so the muscles — particularly in the legs, chest and arms — don’t get the message to move, and so waste away.

The nerve cells die off so swiftly that even short delays in treating SMA can make the difference between a baby growing up able to walk and develop normally, or becoming severely disabled.

With SMA type 1, 95 per cent of motor neurons can be destroyed before the age of six months.

However, there are three treatments that stop the disease progressing — if given in time — that have been approved on the NHS. The drugs can be life-changing but only if started within weeks of birth.

Experts say that if SMA was included in the newborn blood spot test — where a blood sample taken with a heel-prick at five days old is examined for nine genetic conditions including cystic fibrosis — infants with SMA could receive one of these treatments in time.

Yet the UK National Screening Committee (NSC), the body that advises government and the NHS about screening programmes, decided not to add SMA to the newborn screening programme in 2018 after concluding there wasn’t evidence to support the move.

Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were born at just 31 weeks old, after Jesy was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) – a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk.

They announced they were engaged earlier this year

Before being released from hospital the twins had been receiving treatment in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Jesy recently opened up about their premature births, telling fans: ‘Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU.

‘It’s the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies.

‘Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can’t because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them and tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them, it breaks your heart into a million pieces.

‘Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I’ve ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell.’

In March 2025 during her pregnancy, Jesy had to undergo an emergency procedure after suffering complications and was advised to remain in hospital until she was at least 32 weeks into her pregnancy.

Throughout the ordeal, her partner Zion admitted he and Jesy, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her procedure, had ‘grown to understand each other on a deeper level’.

He told OK!: ‘I think it’s at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means.

‘And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other.’

He said the couple had also tried to make the hospital as much of a home as possible.

‘There’s a couch that turns into a bed that we pushed next to the hospital bed, so we’ve made our own double bed.

‘And it’s like we’ve moved in. The nurses just said, “Oh, my God. It looks so nice in here. It looks so homely.”‘

Jesy announced she was expecting twins with her boyfriend Zion back in January 2025 after rumours they had split.

Originally from South London, Zion was born and raised in a Nigerian household by his mother and grew up listening to Gospel music.

It was his football coach who then introduced the star to rap influences, and he began listening to Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Usher.

Zion then decided to pursue music, recording his own tunes and sharing them online via SoundCloud.

UNBELIEVABLE SCENES AFTER TRAGEDY: Drinks sparklers blamed for the Swiss ski resort inferno that killed 40 people were reportedly seen STILL being used just one day later — in a wooden bar across the border

A holidaymaker was in disbelief when she saw a ski resort use drinks sparklers in its wooden bar, just days after a fire in Switzerland killed at least 40 people and left more than 100 injured.

Exclusive footage, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows revellers blissfully dancing shoulder-to-shoulder at the popular Schatzi bar, in Ishgl, Austria.

Ignited ice fountain candles can be seen in three glasses on the counter, just metres from the Austrian Alps bar’s wooden ceiling.

The bar is located just across the border from Switzerland, where a New Year’s Eve blaze inside the Le Constellation bar, located in the Alpine town of Crans-Montana, in the Valais canton region, killed at least 40 people and injured 119 others.

It is believed the devastating fire that swept across the bar’s foam acoustic insulation was started from a fountain candle held aloft on a Champagne bottle.

A Briton, who did not wish to be named, was inside the Schatzi bar on Friday, January 2, while on holiday in the ski resort and told the Mail she was ‘horrified’ to see staff using the handheld firework.

‘We are on holiday in the Austrian ski resort of Ishgl, very close to the Swiss border, in fact, we have skied over to Switzerland, and yesterday evening [January 2] we went into a bar called Schatzi bar and were horrified to see the bar people using sparklers in drinks with a wooden roof and packed bar full of people, ‘ she said.

‘We couldn’t believe this was happening days after the tragic event in the ski resort in Switzerland which killed 40 people.’

A spokesperson for the bar told the Mail it has stopped using fountain candles since January 3 as a ‘precautionary measure’ but stressed the building meets the required fire-resistance and safety standards.

Exclusive footage, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows revellers blissfully dancing shoulder-to-shoulder at the five-star Elizabeth Arthotel’s popular Schatzi bar, in Ishgl, Austria, where drinks sparklers can be seen on the counter

Ignited sparklers can be seen in three glasses on the counter, just metres from the Austrian Alps bar’s wooden ceiling

The bar comes under the same ownership as the luxury family-run adults-only Elizabeth Arthotel, which has a rooftop bar and infinity pool.

The Schatzi bar, where women in skimpy gingham outfits dance on the bar, is described on the hotel’s website as ‘one of Ischgl’s hottest après-ski locations’.

The spokesperson added: ‘First and foremost, everyone at the Elizabeth Arthotel and Schatzi Bar was deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events in neighbouring Switzerland. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected.

‘In light of the incident in Crans-Montana and out of an abundance of caution, Schatzi Bar has stopped the use of sparklers as a precautionary measure; this came into effect on 3rd January.

‘The decision reflects sensitivity to public concern and respect for the seriousness of the recent tragedy and does not indicate any safety issue at the venue.

‘Guest safety is, and has always been, our highest priority. Schatzi Bar operates in full compliance with Austrian fire safety regulations, which are independently inspected on a regular basis.

‘The venue is located at street level and features multiple clearly marked exits, extensive fire safety equipment throughout, and strict capacity limits that are actively monitored by trained security staff.

‘Regarding the venue itself, the building – including its ceiling materials – meets all required fire-resistance and safety standards for commercial hospitality premises in Austria.

‘Wooden ceilings are common in Alpine architecture and are subject to specific treatment and certification to ensure they meet fire safety requirements.

‘We take any concerns raised by guests or the wider public extremely seriously and will continue to review all aspects of our operations to ensure the highest possible safety standards are maintained.’

The hotel is located just across the border from Switzerland, where a New Year’s Eve blaze inside the Le Constellation bar (pictured), located in the Alpine town of Crans-Montana, killed at least 40 people and injured 119 others

A photo appears to show the moment champagne sparklers set fire to material on the ceiling of the Swiss nightclub

The bar’s Facebook and Instagram pages shared a post on Boxing Day showing a staff member jumping with lit fountain candles in both hands, days before the Swiss tragedy.

Bottle sparklers are ignited at both ends of the bar with a row of Jagerbombs lined up on the bar top.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old Swiss girl was today revealed as the youngest victim of the New Year’s Day ski resort fire as police identified 16 more victims.

Forty people were killed in the inferno in the ski village of Crans-Montana when a fire broke out at Le Constellation bar during New Year’s celebrations, minutes after the clock struck 12.

Nine of the 16 new victims identified were children under 18-years-old. Valais Cantonal Police has listed those it had now confirmed as victims.

A spokesperson said: ‘These are four Swiss women, aged 18, two aged 15 and 14, and six Swiss men aged 31, 20, 18, 17 and two aged 16, two Italians aged 16, a dual national (Italy and United Arab Emirates) aged 16, a Romanian aged 18, a Frenchman aged 39 and a Turkish man aged 18.’

Police have now identified a total of 24 people killed in the tragedy.

The victims were identified by the Disaster Victim Identification team (DVI) and the Institute of Legal Medicine.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the 16 remaining victims killed in the blaze.

Police said, ‘out of respect for the families, no further information will be released at this time’ about these 16 new identifications, who have not yet been publicly named.

The fire took hold after sparklers used in celebrations set foam soundproofing on the ceiling alight.

Previously, eight other victims were identified by police, two of whom were 16-year-old Swiss nationals.

These were four Swiss women aged 16, 21, 22 and 24 and four Swiss men aged 16, two aged 18, and one 21-year-old.

Parents have been searching for their missing children as tributes and candles were laid at the scene.

Laetitia Brodard-Sitre, 42, searched in vain for news of her eldest son, Arthur, aged 16.

She carried a photo of the boy on her phone, asking people if they had seen him.

She said: ‘He was looking forward to celebrating New Year’s Eve with his school friends at the resort and in this bar. They had made plans and reserved a table in advance.

‘Of the 11 people at that table only one has been found, and all the others are missing.

‘My son is alone in a hospital, if he’s alive. Even if he’s in a morgue, because by now you have to be able to think clearly after more than 30 hours, I don’t know which morgue, I can’t be by his side.’

She showed a poignant final message from him, sent from Le Constellation at midnight, wishing her ‘Happy New Year, mum’, to which she responded with her own greeting.

Breaking News:Labour tears itself apart as Maduro-apologists declare war on lame duck Starmer

Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership faces a storm as international law and political alliances collide. The UK Prime Minister is caught in a web of complex decisions.

When Sir Keir Starmer arrived in No 10, he made clear that respect for international law would be central to his leadership.

That pledge is now under strain after the UK’s closest ally launched an operation in a sovereign state and detained its leader, leaving the Prime Minister facing an acute political dilemma, reports the Telegraph.

Donald Trump’s seizure of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores risks becoming a serious problem for Sir Keir, who has been trying to steady his leadership following a difficult year.

After investing political capital in building a cautious but cordial relationship with the unpredictable US president, the Labour leader must now weigh that connection against his stated values and growing unrest on his own backbenches, where some MPs have long defended the Venezuelan government.

    Pressure from Labour’s left

Richard Burgon, chair of the Socialist Campaign Group, urged Sir Keir to “stand up to Trump’s gangster politics” and said he should “respond to an illegal bombing and kidnapping by Trump in exactly the way he would if Putin had carried it out.”

“Either Keir Starmer believes in international law – or he doesn’t,” he added.

As international reaction continues, the Prime Minister is being pulled in multiple directions.

One source of pressure comes from the Labour Left, which has already forced several policy reversals, and is now calling for a clear condemnation of Mr Maduro’s detention.

Starmer must ‘take a firmer line’ against Trump

Labour MPs Jon Trickett, Kim Johnson and Kate Osborne echoed Mr Burgon’s remarks, calling on Sir Keir to take a firmer line against Mr Trump.

John McDonnell, the former shadow chancellor under Jeremy Corbyn, also questioned how the US action differed from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The long-serving MP, a prominent figure within the Socialist Campaign Group, previously described the Venezuelan system as “socialism in action”, before later saying the country had taken a “wrong turn.”

He has faced criticism in the past, including claims that his support for a four-day working week in 2019 was an attempt to steer Britain towards Venezuela’s economic model.

Reacting to early reports of the US operation, Mr McDonnell said: “If this is accurate, with no legal sanction, with no UN decision, what difference in international law is there between Trump’s attack on Venezuela and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine?

“If the UK Government stands for the rule of law, Keir Starmer must condemn this.”

    Growing criticism from commentators

Left-wing writer Owen Jones expressed a similar view. Writing on X, he said: “Keir Starmer knows the facts: the US has brazenly broken international law by attacking Venezuela.

“He won’t say so, because he’s halfway up Donald Trump’s arse.”

These interventions point to a second consideration shaping Sir Keir’s response: his own legal outlook and the advice of Lord Hermer, his closest legal confidant.

The Prime Minister has consistently presented himself as a defender of the rule of law, regularly highlighting the need for nations to follow international agreements.

Labour’s election manifesto promised to “once again be a good partner for international development and a defender of the international rule of law.”

Lord Hermer, the Attorney General and a long-time associate of Sir Keir, previously argued that adherence to international law benefits people across the UK.

Starmer: Britain was “not involved in any way” in the strike on Venezuela

    Starmer fails to commit

He also said Britain intended to “lead on international law issues” on the global stage.

Despite this, Sir Keir has declined to state whether he believes Mr Trump has violated international law, saying further details are required.

Media figures have intensified the scrutiny.

Speaking on the News Agents podcast, Lewis Goodall said: “The US has essentially invaded a sovereign nation without United Nations permission.

“It has kidnapped a sitting head of state, and it has done so on the basis not of international law, but on the basis of its own national law, which has no jurisdiction.”

Rory Stewart, the former Conservative MP and co-host of The Rest Is Politics podcast, argued that Europe must “wake up to the threat posed by the US”.

Veteran BBC journalist John Simpson warned that Mr Trump’s push for “forcible regime change” would weaken America’s position if China were to move against Taiwan.

    Balancing principles and diplomacy

A third factor weighing on Sir Keir is his determination to protect his carefully managed relationship with the US president.

The Prime Minister has made a sustained effort to engage Mr Trump in the hope of securing trade agreements, largely avoiding direct public criticism.

Sir Keir must now decide whether the intervention in Venezuela represents a breach serious enough to justify challenging Washington, or whether preserving diplomatic ties takes precedence.

Madeleine McCann’s parents vow to ‘leave no stone unturned’ is ‘unwavering’ as new searches for the missing toddler began this week.

She was three when she vanished while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007. Her parents, Kate and Gerry, marked the 18th anniversary of her disappearance last month.

There has been no positive sighting of her since, with the trail remaining as cold now as it was nearly two decades ago.

New searches have begun in Praia da Luz and a 26-mile stretch of scrubland between the resort and the Foral where German suspect Christian Brueckner lived in 2003.

The new searches for Madeleine, who would have celebrated her 22nd birthday last month, were requested by German police.

They face a race against time to charge Brueckner before he is released from prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.

In their most tribute to Madeleine, who would also be turning 22 this month, Kate and Gerry McCann said: ‘No matter how near or far she is, she continues to be right here with us, every day, but especially on her special day.

‘We continue to “celebrate” her as the very beautiful and unique person she is. We miss her.’

But Madeleine isn’t Kate and Gerry’s only child – she also has twin younger siblings, Amelie and Sean, who were born in 2005.

What are Madeleine McCann’s twin siblings doing now?

A family friend said of twins Amelie and Sean: ‘They’ve always been in Madeleine’s shadow, and just been the McCann twins.

‘But now they are young adults, they are carving out their own lives.’

Today, both are studying at different universities.

Amelie, who studies at Durham University is described as popular and outgoing and has competed in triathlons in the past.

Speaking for the first time about her sister’s disappearance at a vigil two years ago, she commented: ‘It’s nice that everyone is here together, but it’s a sad occasion.’

Meanwhile, Sean studies chemical engineering at the University of Loughborough and is a champion freestyle swimmer

He’s been tipped to represent Scotland at next year’s Commonwealth Games – and could even compete for Team GB at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Previously, Sean represented Scotland at the 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games, taking part in the 400 and 1500m Freestyle finals, and is part of the country’s National Open Water Development Squad for open water swimming.

Sean explained how he first started swimming competitively in a post on a local website after winning a grant to fund his training.

He said: ‘At the age of 10, I was selected to swim at City of Leicester, and I have since gone on to win multiple county titles, as well as becoming regional and national champion in my age group.

‘In order to have achieved this, I have had to remain extremely dedicated, getting up at 4am multiple mornings each week to train.’

Their parents have said the twins are grateful to be able to ‘live a relatively normal and enjoyable life now’, despite the continued heartbreak over their missing big sister.

More recently, Kate said: ‘They have their own friends and they keep busy and they’re really sporty but their only wish is for their big sister to come home.’

    Who are Madeleine McCann’s parents?

Kate and Gerry McCann have never stopped searching for their daughter (Picture: PA)
Kate had been a GP but left her job when Maddie vanished. She returned to the healthcare sector during the pandemic.

She now works with people with dementia and is an ambassador for the charity Missing People.

In their recent statement, the couple thanked the charity and other organisations ‘who remain committed, despite many challenges and limited resources, to finding and bringing home the many missing and abducted children’.

Gerry McCann is a research lead and professor of cardiac imaging at the University of Leicester, whose ‘life-changing work’ has been praised by colleagues.

They still live in the same redbrick detached house in Rothley, Leicestershire, where they resided when the toddler disappeared.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, family friend Michelle Canilleri said: ‘I have seen this family’s grief from the very beginning to now.
    Family games
‘Our hearts go out to them, and the village as a whole hopes they get the answers they so desperately need.’

Madeleine McCann was three when she vanished while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 (Picture: PA)
But as well as deep sympathy, the couple have also been on the receiving end of personal attacks and further anguish.

Two women are accused of stalking the McCann family, including turning up at their home.

Polish national Julia Wandel is due to stand trial in October this year accused of causing serious alarm or distress to the family between June 2022 and February 2025.

Wandel made global headlines in 2023 after claiming to be Madeleine and has continued to speak out on social media despite those claims being rubbished by a DNA test.

She is said to have made calls, left voicemails, and sent a letter and WhatsApp messages to Kate and Gerry, as well as sending their other children, Sean and Amelie, Instagram messages.

Karen Spragg has also denied stalking, allegedly by making calls, sending letters and attending the McCann’s home.

See details in the first comment

“‘Keir Starmer is seen as WEAK in Washington!’ | Former aide to Margaret Thatcher criticizes Starmer”

Trump’s recent military operation against Venezuela has sent shockwaves through international relations, showcasing U.S. prowess while simultaneously revealing a significant trust deficit with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Former Thatcher aide Nile Gardner emphasized Starmer’s perceived weakness in Washington, raising questions about the future of U.S.-U.K. cooperation.

During a heated discussion on “Saturday Night Five,” Gardner characterized the U.S. strikes as a monumental display of American military might, eclipsing previous operations like the raid on Osama bin Laden. He described the operation as a successful demonstration of American exceptionalism, asserting that it solidifies the U.S. position as the world’s undisputed leader.

Gardner noted that the downfall of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro is a severe blow to both China and Russia, who have long supported his regime. He argued that this military action sends a clear message to rogue states that defying U.S. power comes with dire consequences, leaving them to reconsider their regional ambitions.

The former aide to Margaret Thatcher did not hold back in critiquing Starmer’s leadership, stating that the U.S. administration would not trust him with military decisions. He described Starmer as a “very weak and disastrous” prime minister, reflecting a stark contrast to the historical collaboration between U.S. presidents and British leaders like Thatcher.

As the conversation shifted to the implications of U.S. actions in Venezuela, Gardner emphasized that the operation aims to stabilize the region while dismantling Maduro’s narco-state. He argued that the U.S. military is now more capable than during the Cold War, positioning it to handle complex operations with precision and effectiveness.

The discussion also touched on domestic reactions to the military action. Gardner predicted that the American public would largely support Trump’s decision, particularly given the operation’s success and the absence of U.S. casualties. Joaппa Lυmley Shares Emotioпal Health Update After Stroke: “I’m Fightiпg — Bυt I Caп’t Do It Aloпe”

After weeks of anxious silence and growing concern among admirers around the world, Joanna Lumley has shared a deeply moving update on her health following a serious medical emergency that doctors have classified as critical.

The beloved British actress, writer, and humanitarian confirmed that she recently underwent surgery and is now beginning a long and arduous recovery process.

While she has chosen to keep many medical details private, her words carried a quiet bravery that resonated instantly with fans:

“I still have a long road ahead,” Lumley wrote. “But I believe in healing — through love, through family, and through the kindness and prayers from all of you.”

    A Sudden Health Crisis

According to sources close to the family, Lumley’s stroke came unexpectedly, prompting immediate medical intervention and a period of strict analysis.

Family says the situation was serious enough to require urgent surgery, followed by close monitoring and rest.

Her seriousness soon worldwide for her elegance, tireless activism, and seemingly boundless energy, the news was both shocking and sobering.

Yet those closest to her say Lumley faced the crisis with the same quiet courage that has defined her character for decades.

“She’s never been someone who dramatizes pain,” said one longtime friend. “But this was frightening. It forced her to dig deep — something Joanna rarely does.”

    “I’m Fighting — But I Can’t Do It Alone”

In her most powerful statement, Lumley acknowledged both her determination and her vulnerability.

“I’m fighting,” she shared. “But I can’t do it alone.”

The words struck a chord across social media, where thousands of messages poured in within hours.

Followers, public figures, and fans from multiple generations expressed gratitude for her honesty — and admiration for her strength.

Medical experts said that recovery from a stroke is rarely linear.

Fatigue, emotional strain, and physical rehabilitation often accompany the healing process.

Lumley herself alluded to this reality, emphasizing patience and self-compassion as her fight goes through.

    Surrounded by Family and Love

Friends describe Lumley as being surrounded by close family members and a small, trusted circle of lifelong companions.

The atmosphere, they say, is calm, supportive, and deeply loving — exactly what doctors recommend during early recovery.

“She draws enormous strength from the people around her,” another source explained. “She hates fuss. She rests. And she allows herself to be cared for.”

That shift, subtle yet profound, marks a new chapter for a woman long celebrated for her independence and resilience.

    A Life That Touched Millions

For decades, Joanna Lumley has been far more than a screen icon.

From unforgettable performances to tireless humanitarian work, she has consistently used her voice to advocate for others — refugees, veterans, environmental causes, and marginalized communities.

Now, supporters say, the world has an opportunity to give something back.

“She has spent her life comforting others,” one admirer wrote online. “Let her rest. She’s earned it.”

    Hope, Not Headlines

Those close to Lumley stress that this update is not about spectacle or sympathy, but connection.

There is no timetable for her return to public life, and no pressure for appearances or performances.

Recovery, they emphasize, is the priority.

In her own words, Lumley once described the meaning of something simple — and deeply human:

“Sometimes, what matters most on the road to healing is knowing you’re not alone.”

As messages of love continue to arrive from every corner of the globe, that truth feels unmistakably clear.

Joanna Lumley is not walking this road by herself — and she never has.
