“THE COMMITMENT CRISIS”: Peg Munson CONFESSES her fear, admitting Mel’s UNYIELDING nature and LACK OF COMMITMENT are the FINAL OBSTACLES that could destroy their relationship

The fairy-tale ending of The Golden Bachelor has allegedly hit a severe snag, with sources claiming that newly engaged Peg Munson has privately CONFESSED her fear, admitting that Mel Owens’ UNYIELDING nature and lingering LACK OF COMMITMENT are proving to be the FINAL OBSTACLES that could completely destroy their relationship.

While the couple is publicly engaged and reportedly even purchased an Aspen mansion, the emotional reality of navigating Mel’s highly scrutinized past and his resistance to fully letting go has created a deep sense of instability for Peg.

Mel’s Unyielding Nature: The Financial Wall

Peg’s fear reportedly centers on Mel’s behavior during their ongoing financial crises, particularly the lingering divorce money war. Mel, a former lawyer, is notoriously meticulous and protective of his assets—a trait Peg is now allegedly finding difficult to live with.

The Divorce Shadow: Mel is still battling his ex-wife over a nearly $1 million court-ordered equalization payment. His alleged insistence on fighting every financial demand and his focus on asset protection are viewed by Peg as an UNYIELDING nature that prioritizes legal and financial boundaries over emotional partnership.

The Commitment Crisis: Peg is reportedly struggling to reconcile Mel’s public vows of love with his private reluctance to fully integrate their lives, especially financially. She allegedly fears his intense focus on protecting his own fortune signals a fundamental LACK OF COMMITMENT to seeing their assets as truly shared, potentially viewing her as a financial risk due to her own background.

    The Lingering Emotional Gap

The relationship between Mel and Peg was famously sealed with a commitment ring, not a proposal, largely due to Mel’s insistence that he needed more time—a stance he claimed was due to the trauma of his previous divorce.

However, sources suggest that even with the subsequent proposal and ring, that emotional gap remains. Peg is allegedly worried that Mel’s insistence on a slower timeline and his reluctance to take the “leap of faith”—which directly led to Cindy Cullers’ exit—is not fully resolved.

An insider close to the couple claimed: “Peg sees his unyielding nature in the way he handles the divorce and the way he controls the narrative. She’s confessed she fears that his heart still hasn’t fully healed or that he’s permanently erected a wall because of the pain of his past marriage. This fear is the final obstacle. She loves him, but she is terrified that his deep-seated issues with commitment and trust will ultimately destroy their future.”

The public perception of their perfect pairing is reportedly being challenged by the private fear that Mel is emotionally unavailable for the deep partnership Peg truly desires.

BBC Breakfast: Naga apologises for sneezing mid-intervie

BBC Breakfast took a sad turn on Friday as Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt announced that one guest had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Before introducing Danny Burkey, who appeared in a pre-recorded clip, Naga began, “Now, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with around 63,000 cases diagnosed in the UK every year.

“A major screening trial has begun, which aims to find the best way to detect the disease.”

Charlie continued, “Invites will initially be sent out to 16,000 men across the UK, but this will eventually be expanded to up to 300,000. Our medical editor, Fergus Walsh, has more.”

Speaking in a voiceover, Fergus stated, “Danny Burkey from West Yorkshire is terminally ill with prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones.

“Aged 60. He says if men were offered regular screening, his disease might have been caught when it was still curable.”

Speaking about his heartbreaking diagnosis, Danny shared, “A screening program would literally be a game-changer.

“If you want men to not be in the position I’m in, if we want to stop 12,000 men dying early every year, it’s the obvious solution.”

Fergus went on to explain, “Currently, men over 50 can ask for a PSA blood test. High levels can indicate prostate cancer, but it’s unreliable, picking up many cancers that don’t need treatment and missing others that do.”

HEARTBREAKING NEWS: This Morning star UNDERGOES EMERGENCY brain surgery leaving viewers shocked

A This Morning favourite has opened up about a shocking discovery during a recent scan – and now she’s preparing for a major operation.

This Morning today: Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard halt show as colleague 'collapses'

A familiar face from This Morning has revealed she is now facing another major health crisis — and fans say their “hearts sank” at the shock announcement. The TV expert, author and life coach, Michelle Elman, confirmed she will need brain surgery after doctors found a new cyst and discovered that crucial equipment inside her head has stopped functioning properly. Michelle, 32, told followers the devastating news in an emotional Instagram update. She wrote: “Yesterday I found out I need another brain surgery. I have a cyst in my brain again and also the magnet in my brain needs replacing.”

The bestselling author lives with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes dangerous fluid build-up around the brain. Left untreated, the increasing pressure can be fatal. Michelle relies on a metal magnet to regulate that flow — and now even that needs replacing. Despite the gravity of the situation, Michelle attempted to steady fans by explaining she will push the procedure to next year if possible.

She said: “It’s not urgent but it is needed so now I have to figure out when to schedule this so it disrupts my life as little as possible.

“Inevitably I will have to pause my life and go deal with this, likelihood it will be next year, but until then it’s business as usual.”

The news is another blow in what has been an extraordinarily tough few years for the “Queen of Boundaries”. Michelle previously revealed she has undergone 15 surgeries, survived a brain tumour, and battled a punctured intestine and obstructed bowels.

And her personal life was rocked earlier this year when she discovered her fiancé had cheated — just hours after proposing. Speaking on This Morning, Michelle recalled the moment a stranger sent her a chilling message.

She said: “He was with me when I got the first message saying ‘Is this person your fiance?’ I thought it was a colleague, like this person knows you, and it took a while to figure out.

“My first reaction was shock. I was shaking and I kept saying, ‘Please tell me first I don’t want to find out from her’.”

In a longer Instagram message, Michelle admitted she hates discussing her medical history publicly because “it turns into a press article and I don’t need that right now.”

However, she added she was determined to be honest with the people who follow her career.

She continued: “I’d much rather have the choice and the authority to decide for myself what I can and can’t do… I’d rather be in pain and live my life than watch my life pass me by again.”

Despite facing yet another operation, the award-winning life coach insisted she is not slowing down until absolutely necessary: “I have lived a great life and really milked every moment I’ve had in this world so can’t complain.”

In November, Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden revealed she would be stepping away from the BBC competition series to undergo a second mastectomy. This was a devastating health update for the professional dancer who was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023, before receiving the all-clear the following February. Following her surgery, the Welsh star informed her followers: “Hubby & Family have been looking after me and the besties have turned up with the goods and nothing is stopping us from watching the traitors…keeping the tradition going.”

In a fresh update, Amy took to Instagram with a new mirror selfie to mark being two weeks post-op. In the pic, the dancer simply sported a white sports bra and checkered pyjama bottoms, with her drainage tube in full view. “Focusing on the little things, I’m seeing gradual improvements in my movement and being able to do more each day.” Amy continued: “I have been taking it slow, listening to my body, being kind with myself, and celebrating the small wins. But this week I’ve really seen a difference and am feeling so like me again. Please remember to check yourself.”

This update came as Amy also took to her Instagram story to share more insight into her health and wellbeing with fans, as she said: “I’ve had lovely messages asking how I’m doing. I am doing so much better, thank you. Since the weekend, I’ve really started to feel more like me.”

She went on: “I’ve definitely got my energy back after surgery and the anaesthesia. My movement is coming back, it’s not so tender, it’s obviously sore, a bit swollen, but the bruising has gone down. I’ve definitely got a bit more movement back now and I’m really looking forward to being able to progress now with physio moving forward.

“It’s been lovely, I’ve had my twin sister come to stay with me, and I’ve been able to get out and about, obviously only doing what’s been advised.”

Amy added: “And remember, every patient, every individual is so different, and only do what your doctor recommends. But definitely being able to get out and about has definitely helped as well.”

Under her post, the star was inundated with support from her followers, including celebrity pals, such as BBC Radio presenter Zoe Ball, who shared: “Heal well, brave one.”

Strictly Chaos Erupts: BBC Slammed After “Live” It Takes Two Slip-Up Exposes Behind-the-Scenes Secret – Fans Say This Is the Final Straw

Fleur East hosting Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two

Strictly Come Dancing has been thrown into fresh turmoil after a glaring on-air blunder exposed a long-kept secret about spin-off show It Takes Two—just as viewers were already in meltdown over the La Voix drama. Social media went into full-scale explosion on Tuesday night as eagle-eyed fans realised the BBC had accidentally let slip that the show millions believed was live… is not live at all.

The embarrassment unfolded within hours of the broadcaster confirming that drag superstar La Voix had been ruled out of the iconic Blackpool weekend after suffering an injury in rehearsals. But instead of the drama calming down, Strictly only poured petrol onto the fire.

La Voix and her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec had been among the lucky seven couples heading into week nine, set to dance under the shimmering chandeliers of the historic Tower Ballroom this Saturday, November 22. But by Tuesday afternoon, BBC bosses were forced to break the news no one saw coming: the performer had been pulled “on doctor’s orders” and would not be taking part in the Blackpool special.

    JSR_MEN_191125_ItTakesTWO.jpg

    A Strictly spokesperson said:
“Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend’s Blackpool specials. In line with the rules, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye into next week. We wish her a speedy recovery.”

La Voix herself expressed heartbreak, telling fans she was “devastated” to miss out on such an “iconic venue” after weeks of intense preparation.
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard… my heart truly breaks,” she said.

But just hours later, the scandal took a jaw-dropping twist.

During It Takes Two, hosted by Fleur East and airing Tuesday evening, viewers were stunned when Fleur cheerfully announced La Voix’s planned choreography as though she were still competing this weekend—complete with the specific song choice, John Paul Young’s Love Is in the Air.

Strictly Come Dancing's La Voix says 'how dare you' as It Takes Two thrown into chaos - Manchester Evening News

The only problem? Everyone already knew she wasn’t performing.

The segment was clearly recorded before her withdrawal… but not all viewers realised It Takes Two was pre-recorded at all. Cue fan outrage.

The BBC, scrambling to contain the damage, slapped an emergency caption across the screen explaining:
“Sadly La Voix will not be dancing this weekend due to injury. But in line with the rules, will receive a bye into next week.”

But for many Strictly diehards, the damage was already done.

Viewers rushed to X (Twitter) in disbelief:

    @Rma13Fiona wrote:
“Am I the only person who thought #ItTakesTwo was live?!?!!”

    @georgina_xo added:
“Strictly has just let slip that not every It Takes Two is live.”

    @InekeClewer fumed:
“They specifically say that #ItTakesTwo is live… but they just had to put a message on-screen hours after the fact?!”

Strictly fans confused after It Takes Two announces La Voix's Blackpool dance - hours after she pulled out of show

Others expressed shock at discovering the show’s schedule had apparently been misunderstood for years.

    @CoHesl:
“I always thought #ItTakesTwo was live, apparently not.”

Meanwhile, one viewer stepped in with a “clarification”—which did absolutely nothing to calm the chaos:

    @RyanSoapKing25:
“For those wondering if #ItTakesTwo is LIVE – only 4 days a week (apart from a Tuesday for some reason never known why).”

So not only is It Takes Two not always live, but the schedule appears to be a mystery even among fans who have watched the show for over a decade.

The revelation sparked a frenzy of conspiracy theories. Some fans believe the BBC tried to quietly gloss over the pre-recording, hoping viewers wouldn’t notice the mismatch between Fleur’s cheerful dance announcement and La Voix’s tearful withdrawal statement posted earlier the same day. Others accused the broadcaster of being “misleading,” while a vocal few suggested Strictly should “come clean” about which parts of the franchise are genuinely live.

Strictly's La Voix leaves studio speechless with BBC resignations joke

Inside the Strictly fandom, the mood is now a mixture of disappointment, shock, and suspicion. With Blackpool week already overshadowed by injury woes, unexpected exits, and mounting frustration over the judging, this latest blunder has pushed many fans firmly over the edge.

One insider told us the production team were “kicking themselves” over the timing of the slip, insisting it was simply an unfortunate clash between filming schedules and real-time news about La Voix’s condition.

But for millions watching at home, the damage is done.
And as Strictly heads into one of its biggest weekends of the year, the question hanging over the Tower Ballroom isn’t who will top the leaderboard…
It’s what other secrets the show might be hiding.

  • “She walked onto the Strictly stage… carrying a secret no one knew.” Strictly star Alex Kingston has moved fans to tears after revealing she is still quietly battling uterine cancer — and that her most recent diagnosis has been far from hopeful. But instead of giving up, Alex says Strictly has become the reason she keeps fighting, giving her strength, purpose, and the courage to face every painful step of her journey. Alex Kingston has revealed that competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing has transformed her life just a year after her shocking battle with uterine cancer — leaving her feeling “fearless” and more connected to her younger self than she ever imagined.

The actress, 62, who is currently competing in this year's glitzy ballroom series with professional dancer Johannes Radebe, 38, was diagnosed with the disease in May and subsequently underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy

The 62-year-old actress, who is partnered with Johannes Radebe, 38, was diagnosed in May last year and underwent a hysterectomy followed by radiation therapy. Now, as she continues performing on the ballroom show, Alex says she feels “reborn,” crediting Strictly for helping her rediscover the energy and confidence she thought she had lost forever.

But now, she says, she feels more fearless than ever - and credits Strictly with helping her reclaim the vitality of her 25-year-old self (pictured 2000)

But now, she says, she feels more fearless than ever – and credits Strictly with helping her reclaim the vitality of her 25-year-old self (pictured 2000)

Speaking to The Mirror, she joked: “My husband says my 25-year-old body has come out of the closet! Thank you, Strictly — I’ll take it!”
She added that the experience has made her “fearless,” even if the looming pressure of Saturday night performances still leaves her terrified. Her biggest hope now, she says, is that sharing her story encourages others facing their own battles to keep going.

Alex explained that talking openly about her diagnosis felt like the right moment, especially as she remains in the competition. By staying on the show, she wants viewers to see that life continues even after hardship — and joy can return when you least expect it. She urged anyone struggling to “take every moment and enjoy it,” reminding them that “we only get one shot.”

In a recent interview with The Mirror, Alex shared: 'My husband basically has said that my 25-year-old body has come out of the closet! Thank you, Strictly, I will take it! With the Strictly final getting closer, Alex said she’s taking each day as it comes, just as she did during her radiation treatments. Dwelling on the past or future, she said, is no longer part of her mindset.

Her health journey first became public several months ago, when she revealed she had secretly battled uterine cancer last year. Alex admitted she had been experiencing symptoms for a long time but dismissed them as age-related — until she haemorrhaged on stage during a theatre performance. After completing her run in The Other Boleyn Girl, she sought medical help and was told the cancer was located in her fallopian tubes but had not reached her ovaries.

Despite the trauma, Alex says the moment she had surgery she “felt like herself again,” something she hadn’t felt in years.

The actress has also spoken openly about her fertility struggles, having undergone 13 rounds of IVF before giving birth to her daughter Salome in 2001. She believes the hormonal treatments contributed to early perimenopause and long-term weight gain, something she felt was never fully explained to her.

Today, however, gratitude defines her outlook. She says she feels lucky to be alive and refuses to waste a single day — a mindset that drove her to accept Strictly’s invitation. As the oldest woman in this year’s lineup, she wanted to dance “for women of a certain age,” proving that life doesn’t end at 60.

Last month, she admitted training had been more challenging than she expected, especially after her health struggles. But standing beside Johannes on This Morning, she said: “Age is just a number. After a certain age, you’re not dead below the knee.”

Reflecting on everything she’s endured, Alex now believes more strongly than ever that life is too short not to leap into the things that scare you. And for her, Strictly has been the leap that brought her back to life

Some impress us with their quick minds.
But only a rare few ever allow the audience to glimpse the weight they carry beneath the polished exterior.

Irish Chaser Darragh Ennis admits his celebrity status takes has changed his life - SundayWorld.com

Darragh Ennis — the sharp, steady “Menace” from The Chase — was one of those rare few.
Behind the calm façade and razor-focused gameplay, he was fighting a grief so heavy it nearly stripped him of the very confidence and composure that defined his career.

🌑 A Loss That Left Him Shaken

In July 2024, while viewers saw a cool, unbreakable quizzer on screen, Darragh’s private life collapsed.
His father, who had been living with dementia, passed away.

To the world, it was simply a headline.
To Darragh, it was the moment everything familiar gave way beneath his feet.

Months later, during an emotional appearance on Loose Women, he finally spoke the words he had silently carried:

    “I was broken inside… and I didn’t even realise.”

    Sometimes grief hides.
    Sometimes it lingers quietly.
And sometimes it hits hardest when the world expects strength instead of vulnerability.

🎥 Returning to The Chase Was No Longer Familiar

Going back to film The Chase should have been comforting — muscle memory, routine, stability.
Instead, Darragh found himself overwhelmed in ways he never imagined.

The tense two-minute final round, normally his strongest space, suddenly felt impossible.

    Mistakes rattled him.
    Pressure crushed him.
And when he reached for that calm, methodical part of his mind… it simply wasn’t there.

    He described it plainly:

“Every time I reached for that calm part of myself… it was gone.”

    Camera-shy.
    Shaken.
Unable to breathe inside a moment he once controlled effortlessly.

    The production team noticed immediately.
But instead of pushing him, they supported him — offering time, room, and counselling.

    Not because he was weak.
But because even the strongest need somewhere to fall.

🕯 Grief Doesn’t Disappear Just Because Life Goes On

Darragh revealed that counselling with a sports psychologist — something some viewers might not expect — became essential to stabilising him.

The man who once thrived under pressure now had to re-learn how to stand beneath it.

    He tried brushing it off.
He tried pretending everything was normal.
    But grief rarely cooperates.

“There was nothing underneath my feet… I just fell away.”

That line alone revealed more than he had ever shared publicly — he didn’t only lose a parent; he lost the emotional foundation that shaped him.

❤️ Quiet Strength Behind the Intelligence

Darragh didn’t share his story for sympathy.
He shared it because so many people, especially men, bury their pain behind expectations of “strength.”

Strength is not about never breaking.
Strength is breaking — and choosing to return anyway.

And that is exactly what Darragh did.

🌟 Even the Strongest Hearts Can Crack

Today, viewers see Darragh back on The Chase, more stable and sharper than before — not because he “moved on,” but because he learned to rebuild on unfamiliar ground.

The man famed for intimidating contestants has revealed something far more human:

    Even the strongest minds fracture.
Healing begins the moment you stop pretending you’re untouche

Before the performances began, the long-time hosts paused the excitement to deliver their final words at Blackpool — a moment so emotional the entire studio fell completely silent.
Their voices wavered as they thanked fans for two decades of memories, and cameras caught audience members wiping their eyes. Even Tess and Claudia struggled to get through the message without stopping to compose themselves. It was a farewell that hung heavy in the air, setting an unexpectedly bittersweet tone for the night.

Moments later, the atmosphere shifted again as the pair confirmed devastating news:
La Voix had been told by doctors she could not continue dancing.

The drag queen was seen seated in the front row, looking crushed as the announcement was made.

And then came the twist: Tess revealed that, because of the withdrawal, no contestant would be leaving this week, with the dance-off cancelled and scores rolling over to next week.

But emotions escalated further after the BBC unexpectedly announced the two presenters who will replace Tess and Claudia next season.
The reaction was immediate and intense — both inside the studio and online.
Viewers erupted with frustration, writing comments such as:

“Why let Tess and Claudia go… just to replace them with those two?”

For many fans, the decision overshadowed an already emotional night, turning Blackpool Week into one of the most talked-about episodes of the season.

⭐ La Voix breaks her silence

Minutes after the live announcement, La Voix took to Instagram to share her heartbreak.

“I’m absolutely devastated to be withdrawing. This isn’t the glittering exit I imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I’ve let people down. My spirit wanted to keep dancing — but my foot had other ideas.”

She thanked fans for every vote, cheer, and “sparkle of support.”

Later in the evening, she was spotted wearing a medical boot and a lace jumpsuit while attending filming, bravely showing the reality of her injury.

⭐ Blackpool performances go on — and deliver drama of their own

The show continued with an electric lineup of routines:

    ● Lewis Cope & Katya Jones opened with a jaw-dropping Charleston that stunned Anton Du Beke into silence and earned a perfect 40, his second of the season.

    ● Balvinder Sopal & Julian Caillon delivered a bold Argentine Tango. Though Balvinder looked unsure afterward, the judges praised her perseverance — Motsi Mabuse even called her the “comeback queen.” They earned their highest score yet.

    ● Amber Davies & Nikita Kuzmin hit the floor with a lively Quickstep to “Reach for the Stars.” Despite boos aimed at Craig for critiquing her gapping, he admitted her timing was “exceptional.” They scored 36.

    ● Karen Carney & Carlos Gu delivered an explosive Paso Doble, earning a standing ovation and an extraordinary 39 points. Anton said he wished he could score her “25.”

    ● Alex Kingston & Johannes Radebe performed a sultry Couple’s Choice routine, receiving 35.

    ● George Clarke & Alexis Warr closed the show with a high-energy salsa that surprised the judges and earned their best score yet — another 39.

Blackpool Week kicked off with a glittering performance from Steps, who performed a medley of hits including “Tragedy,” followed by a dazzling group number featuring Strictly’s pros, judges, and celebrities.

⭐ Backstage: tears, injuries and celebrations

After the live show, Strictly stars were seen heading to the Blackpool wrap party — Amy Dowden, Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman, Jowita Przystał, and Nadia Bychkova among them.

La Voix, meanwhile, updated fans again on Sunday morning, revealing:

“I’m off for an MRI scan to see what’s going on with my foot. It’s a deep bone bruise that could become a stress fracture if I keep dancing. Luckily they caught it before it got to that stage.”

She praised the Strictly physio team and thanked fans for their support during what she called “the saddest day.”

A tense jungle twist that left viewers stunned — and campmates speechless.

Chaos swept through the I’m A Celebrity camp after a gruelling Bushtucker Trial, but no one expected the dramatic scene that followed Jack Osbourne and Martin Kemp’s return.

Martin Kemp, right, ‘broke down in tears’

The pair — who had just won an impressive 12 stars alongside Shona McGarty and Alex Scott — chose to play a trick on their unsuspecting campmates. What followed was one of the most chaotic moments of the series.

Jack marched into camp first, face tight with frustration, unleashing a burst of anger that left everyone frozen in place.
“I’m done with this place,” he muttered sharply, sending shockwaves through the shelter. His sudden intensity was so out of character that even viewers later admitted they had never seen him lose composure like that.

Before anyone could make sense of Jack’s “meltdown,” Martin Kemp stepped in behind him — and the drama escalated again.
The usually calm and collected star suddenly burst into tears, insisting that everything had “gone wrong.”

    Kelly Brook stared in horror.
Tom Read Wilson looked just as alarmed.
Eddie Kadi tried to make sense of the chaos, stepping in to ask whether the pair were being serious.

For a moment, the entire camp teetered on panic.

Then Jack’s expression softened — and the truth came out.

“Honest to God… we won 12 stars.”

The tension shattered instantly as the camp erupted into cheers and laughter, realising the “meltdown” had been nothing more than a perfectly executed prank.

    Aitch praised their acting, laughing:
“Oh my god! That was good!”

    Alex Scott joked:
“Can we now give Martin his BAFTA?”

Inside the Bush Telegraph, Martin later admitted he had leaned fully into the performance:
“I’ve always been able to turn on the tears. Jack’s anger was brilliant — he can take Best Supporting, and I’ll take Best Actor.”

But behind the playful moment, Jack had recently hinted at some genuine frustrations. Earlier, he had told campmates he felt a bit of “resistance” toward newcomers Vogue Williams and Tom Read Wilson, saying their arrival made the camp feel unexpectedly crowded.

    Jack shared:
“You don’t get to walk in halfway through the movie and decide to turn it off or change it…”

Fans told how Martin should get an award for ‘best actor’

Meanwhile, viewers watching at home noticed something else entirely — a rash on Kelly Brook’s neck — sparking a wave of concern online.

Still, nothing overshadowed the explosive prank that stole the episode.

Jack then revealed it was all banter as he jumped up and down in delight

By the end of the night, Jack was jumping up and down, laughing as he confirmed it was “all banter” — but fans insisted his moment of fury felt far too real.

Many viewers commented the same thing:
“This isn’t the Jack we usually see… he’s not someone who bends easily.”

And with tensions rising in camp, fans are now bracing for what might come next.

Eamonn Holmes revealed that his tax row with HMRC has cost him more than £1m and two houses – and the GB News presenter still owes a huge six-figure sum. The former This Morning presenter, who has worked for ITV and the BBC – claimed tax officials ruled he was a staff member with broadcasters rather than freelance.

The Northern Irish broadcaster, 65, branded HMRC “thieves” and said they have “ruined me” at the most vulnerable time of his life. He said the tax office requested 10 years worth of back tax and national insurance as a result of the employee status change.

Eamonn claimed he has already paid over £1million back since – but despite selling his two homes still owes an eye-watering sum of £250,000.

The broadcaster spoke openly on an episode of the BelTel podcast with host Ciaran Dunbar.

Eamonn remarked: “I’m still working because the thieving HMRC came after me and said, ‘Do you know when we always said you were self-employed. Well, we thought about it and you’re not self-employed and we want 10 years in back tax and National Insurance.’

Basically at the most vulnerable time of my life they wrecked me financially.”

He continued: “I had to sell my house in Belfast. We had a house in Portugal I had to sell. I still owe them a quarter of a million quid.

I appealed it twice and lost it twice. Lawyers fees are absolutely horrendous. That was something on top of health matters I had this tax situation that is not over yet. It’s thievery.”

The presenter suggested thatthroughout his broadcasting career he had several jobs with various publications, adding “I couldn’t be more freelance”.

Eamonn also argued that telly star Lorraine Kelly managed to avoid similar tax issues by saying she was playing a part on TV.

He remarked: “And yet Lorraine Kelly is deemed to be freelance because she’s not really Lorraine Kelly. She’s an actress who plays the part of Lorraine Kelly, she said.”

Before concluding: “It absolutely ruined me.”

Lorraine previously avoided a £1.2million tax bill after a judge claimed that she is a “theatrical artist” taking on the role of “Lorraine Kelly”.

She received the eye-watering tax and national insurance bill from HMRC in 2020 after the revenue argued that TV presenters are employed by broadcasters, and therefore should be “subject to income tax and national insurance contributions.

Last year Eamonn spoke about the tax battle and said he never received holiday or sick pay but added he was not looking for sympathy.

“It’s like they have taken away everything I ever worked for,” he said in an interview with his former UTV colleague Gerry Kelly.

A HMRC spokesperson previously stated: “We take the wellbeing of all taxpayers seriously and do everything we can for those who engage with us to get their tax affairs in order, including by offering affordable payment plans.”
