From Secret Midnight Conversations With Wild Otters to Captivating Millions on Screen, Hamza Yassin Has Emerged as Britain’s New Guardian of the Untamed — a 35-Year-Old Ranger Whose Deep Connection to Nature Is Redefining the Future of Wildlife Television

Move over, every polished presenter who ever read a script about badgers: Britain has chosen its new natural-history heartbeat, and he’s a 6-foot-6 Sudanese-Scottish giant who learned to track lynx before he could drive, cries when otters hold hands, and once spent 42 straight nights sleeping in a hide just to film pine martens falling in love.

Last night, BBC One dropped the first trailer for Hamza’s Wild Britain (a six-part landmark series launching spring 2026), and within four hours it became the most-watched BBC trailer in a decade. The final 15 seconds alone have been viewed 28 million times: Hamza, knee-deep in a Highland river at dawn, whispering so gently the microphone barely catches it as a mother otter teaches her pup to swim literally inches from his face. No music. Just his soft Glasgow-Sudanese lilt: “Look… she’s telling him the water will hold him, if he trusts it. Same thing my mum told me when we arrived in Scotland and I couldn’t speak a word of English.”

    Cue national meltdown.

    The numbers are insane:

4.7 million pre-saved the series on iPlayer before a single episode aired.
#HamzaYassin trended above the general election results.
Children’s bookshops sold out of otter plush toys by 10 a.m. because “my kid says Hamza told them to love otters.”

But the real story isn’t the ratings; it’s the journey.

Hamza arrived in rural Northamptonshire from Sudan at age eight, speaking no English, clutching a bird book his father gave him “because birds don’t care what language you speak.” By twelve he was the weird kid cycling ten miles before school to photograph kingfishers. At sixteen he won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year with a shot of a fox cub yawning that looked like it was laughing at the universe. University (Bangor, zoology) was just an excuse to live closer to puffins.

Then came the decade nobody saw: camera-operating on Planet Earth IIISpringwatch, and Countryfile, always the guy in the muddy boots who could lie motionless for 14 hours until a badger sniffed his lens and decided he was harmless. Crew nicknamed him “the Otter Whisperer” after he filmed the first-ever footage of wild otters playing with pebbles in the Cairngorms, entirely by becoming part of the furniture for six weeks.

His big break was accidental. In 2022 he entered Strictly Come Dancing “because my mum loves glitterballs and I thought it might pay for a new hide.” He won the whole thing with Jowita Przystał, foxtrotting like a man who’d spent his life learning rhythm from golden eagles soaring on thermals. Overnight, eight million people discovered the gentle giant who spoke about conservation between sambas.

The BBC pounced. First Hamza: Wild Isles (2024), then the Emmy-nominated Hamza’s Sudan (2025), where he returned to his birthplace to film the last northern white rhinos under the same stars he watched as a child. Critics called it “the most emotional hour of television this decade.” Viewers just called it “life-changing.”

Now Hamza’s Wild Britain is being billed as the spiritual successor to Attenborough’s Life on Earth. Shot entirely by Hamza himself (he still refuses a full camera crew because “animals don’t like strangers”), it promises never-before-seen behaviour: red squirrels teaching their young to tightrope-walk power lines, urban foxes using pedestrian crossings at night, golden eagles hunting in snowstorms so violent Hamza had to be roped to a cliff for three days.

The trailer’s money shot? Hamza lying flat on his stomach in a peat bog at 4 a.m., face inches from a wild mountain hare in its white winter coat. The hare slowly reaches out and touches his beard with its paw. Hamza doesn’t move, doesn’t breathe. When the hare eventually hops away, he whispers to camera, voice cracking: “Sometimes the wild decides you’re worth trusting. That’s the best feeling in the world.”

Sir David himself has already given the ultimate blessing. In a rare statement, the 99-year-old legend said: “Hamza sees the natural world the way poets see love: with wonder that never ages. The baton isn’t being passed; it’s being shared.”

Social media is flooded with kids posting drawings of otters wearing glittery bow ties “for Uncle Hamza.” Primary schools are reporting record numbers of children wanting to become “rangers instead of YouTubers.” The RSPB’s junior membership has tripled in six months.

Hamza, being Hamza, responded to the “new Attenborough” hype with typical humility on Instagram last night: a simple photo of his muddy wellies next to a child’s drawing of an otter holding a glitterball, captioned, “I’m just the tall idiot who talks to animals. Thank you for letting me into your living rooms. I’ll try to make the planet prouder than I am right now.”

Britain has a new voice for its wild places, and it sounds like hope wrapped in a Highland breeze. Spring 2026 can’t come soon enough.

British vigilantes slash small migrant boats on French coastline

Britons have been filming themselves travelling to beaches in France and ‘destroying’ small boats – gaining thousands of views in the process

British vigilantes who spearheaded efforts to fly England flags across the country have launched a new anti-migrant protest – attempting to block illegal Channel crossings.

Using the term “Operation Stop The Boats”, members of the group have been filming themselves slashing small boats before they are used by migrants to cross the English Channel from France.

Posts on social media show members calling for other British men to join them in France, including making a direct appeal to football hooligans, saying “we need to make a stand”.

In one video message shared this week by a member of the Raise the Colours group – the grassroots movement that has seen flags fixed to lampposts, motorway bridges and roundabouts across England – two men are seen evoking military language and the spirit of the British fight against the Nazis in the Second World War.

Claiming to be recording from the northern French coast, one said: “Just like in the 1940s, we must take a stand, and it starts with the men of England and Britain.”

Making an appeal to “firms” – a phrase that refers to football hooligan groups – the other man added: “Our country is doing nothing. Weak government, weaker borders.

“They are doing nothing, so we need to make a stand, boys. Get the lads together, get your firms together, get the lads in the pub, get the lads down the bars, if you’re talking about it and you agree with what we are doing, give us a hand.”
The Government is under pressure to act after more than 36,000 people have crossed the English Channel in small boats (Photo: raisethecolours.org.uk/Instagram)
The Government is under pressure to tackle the issue of migration amid a record number of asylum applications, surging small boat crossings and protests at hotels housing asylum seekers.

On Monday, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood set out a package of reforms to asylum policies aimed at tackling illegal migration, telling MPs the current situation is “out of control and unfair”.

The latest videos shared by those linked to the Raise the Colours group have separately been referred to as “Operation Overlord”.

Earlier clips showed two men saying they were taking matters of illegal migration into their own hands and filming themselves stamping on and smashing a small boat’s engine.

In the clips, they refer to themselves as “patriots” and make a number of claims without evidence, such as that they are stopping “rapists and murderers” from “coming to a town near you”.
One video shared by the group (Photo: raisethecolours.org.uk/nstagram)
The flag-raising group, who have a combined 100,000 followers on X and Instagram, also posted a plea on X for donations last week, writing that they are: “STOPPING The Boats, whether the migrants or government like it or not!”

Two videos from the group have recently been shared to the 1.7 million X followers of Tommy Robinson. The far-right figure and former leader of the English Defence League, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has previously been accused of mobilising football hooligan firms in an attempt to launch anti-Muslim rallies across the country.

Separately, French media reports that the Dunkirk Public Prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation into “aggravated violence” against migrants by suspected British far-right figures.

One of the details being examined by the French prosecutor is the claim that in September, four men waving British and UK flags verbally and physically attacked migrants on the French coast. It is alleged that they told the migrants they were not welcome in England and proceeded to steal some of their belongings.

The men are not the first anti-migrant figures to travel to France in a bid to take matters into their own hands.

In September, Ukip, Nigel Farage’s former political party, posted a video to their X account showing what appeared to be sleeping migrants in France being woken by people flashing strobe lights in their faces and shouting at them.

Nick Tenconi, Ukip’s current leader, also posted a video captioned: “In Calais hunting for illegal invaders trying to cross into Britain.”

Declared the Winner Before the Finale? Aitch Leaves Fans in Tears With Emotional Jungle Arms Tribute to Sister Gracie

Aitch had fans in tears during Tuesday night's episode of I'm A Celeb with his Jungle Arms tribute to his beloved sister Gracie

Aitch had fans in tears during Tuesday night’s episode of I’m A Celeb with his Jungle Arms tribute to his beloved sister Gracie

With only days left before the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! finale and the camp steadily shrinking, viewers believe the public has already chosen its champion — and his name is Aitch.

Tuesday night’s episode delivered one of the most emotional moments of the season, as the Manchester rapper left both his campmates and the nation in tears during a deeply personal performance at the legendary Jungle Arms.

Aitch has a close bond with his two twin sisters, Gracie and Hattie, who at 16 are ten years younger than him. And Gracie, who has Down's Syndrome, in particular, has played a big part in both his personal life and career

After the camp secured their long-awaited trip to the jungle pub, the evening quickly turned into a full-blown celebration — complete with laughter, drinks and karaoke. But when Aitch stepped up to the microphone, the mood shifted from chaotic fun to heartfelt silence.

Whilst the video for his song features Ed Sheeran, Aitch joked he had to make do with his camp BFF AngryGinge as they performed a duet

Whilst the video for his song features Ed Sheeran, Aitch joked he had to make do with his camp BFF AngryGinge as they performed a duet

Instead of choosing a party anthem, Aitch performed his own track My G, a song he wrote for his beloved younger sister Gracie, who has Down’s syndrome. The choice stunned his fellow campmates and instantly brought tears to viewers’ eyes.

Aitch shares a powerful bond with his twin sisters Gracie and Hattie, who are ten years younger than him. But it is Gracie, in particular, who has shaped both his life and his career in ways he has never hidden from the world.

The song’s lyrics — “Baby live your best life, you shouldn’t grow by force. All in your own time, G, the globe is yours” — echoed through the Jungle Arms as his close friend AngryGinge joined him for a surprise duet, hilariously standing in for Ed Sheeran, who features in the official music video.

Back in camp, even Ruby Wax admitted she had been left overwhelmed by the performance. Online, fans were quick to declare that moment as the clearest sign yet that Aitch is destined to be crowned King of the Jungle.

Before entering the Australian outback, Aitch revealed that his decision to take part in the show was driven by something far bigger than fame or money — he wanted to raise awareness for Down’s syndrome.

Speaking openly to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old said:
“I’m not just doing it for people with Down’s syndrome — I’m doing it for the people around them too. I don’t want anyone to ever feel disheartened if they find out someone in their family has it. It’s a blessing.”

    He added:
“I never want anyone to say ‘I’m sorry’ when they hear it. That’s not the right response. They’re the best people in the world.”

Aitch has long dedicated his chart-topping success to Gracie. All proceeds from My G are donated to the Down’s Syndrome Association, and the music video opens with a touching on-screen dedication to her. The rapper once wrote:
“This one’s straight from the heart. For my sister Gracie — the most perfect girl I’ve ever met.”

Earlier this year, he also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, raising over £120,000 for the same charity — a challenge he again dedicated to his sister.

While Aitch continues winning hearts across the country, Tuesday’s episode also saw Kelly Brook become the fourth celebrity to be voted off the show. She was met at the bridge by her husband Jeremy Parisi, who had flown to Australia to support her.

As Aitch’s jungle journey continues, fans are now more convinced than ever that his emotional honesty, charity work and unbreakable family bond have already secured him the crown — long before the final votes are even cast.

Ruby Wax Shock Exit Leaves I’m A Celebrity Camp in Pieces — Fans Rage: “She Was Meant for the Final!”

Viewers were left stunned — and the jungle in tears — as Ruby Wax became the fifth celebrity to be voted out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in an elimination nobody saw coming.

The 72-year-old comedian’s departure on Wednesday night sent shockwaves through the camp, with several of the remaining seven stars breaking down as they realised their “queen” was leaving.

Speaking to Ant and Dec moments after her exit, an emotional Ruby described her fellow campmates as her “family”, admitting she had completely lost touch with the outside world inside the jungle.

“I thought this would be an adventure… but I never expected this much love,” she said. “This wasn’t a show anymore — this was family. And losing them hurts.”

👑 “I Was the Queen… How Could I Be Taken?”

Ruby’s farewell was as chaotic and unforgettable as her jungle journey. Reflecting on her time as camp leader, she joked that she had ruled with charm — and mischief.

“I got away with everything by charm. I was the queen, even if I wasn’t officially crowned,” she laughed. “When you’re in that world, the leader feels very real.”

She also playfully hinted that she would be “punishing” Aitch and Ginge after discovering they secretly took extra milk bottle sweets during the now-infamous ‘Milkgate’ scandal.

“I bonded. I had more than fun. I became five years old again in there,” Ruby added.

One of the most emotional goodbyes came from Tom Read Wilson, who openly sobbed as he said farewell to Ruby after forming a deep bond with her throughout the series.

After crossing the iconic jungle bridge, Ruby was reunited with her husband Ed Bye, who had flown to Australia to meet her — bringing her jungle journey to a tender close.

🔥 Fans Furious: “She Was Robbed!”

Almost instantly, social media erupted with outrage over Ruby’s elimination. Many viewers insisted she should have made the final.

    Comments flooded in:

    “Ruby was ROBBED. Absolute ICON.”

“How is Ruby gone before the final?! I’m raging.”

“She carried this series — she deserved better.”

🥛 Jungle Chaos Continues After ‘Milkgate’ Bombshell

The same episode also saw fallout from the milk bottle sweets scandal reignite tensions. Kelly Brook had previously admitted that she, Aitch and Ginge secretly ate extra sweets — before being voted out and avoiding the backlash.

At the start of the episode, a shocked camp finally learned the full truth:

“By the way… there were more than ten milk bottles!” Kelly had revealed before leaving.

Ginge later attempted to shift blame entirely onto Kelly, while Aitch admitted in the Bush Telegraph:

“I think we got away with it.”

Meanwhile, Shona McGarty was visibly upset, pointing out how harshly she had been treated earlier in the series over her own contraband slip.

    🎯 What Happens Next?

With Ruby gone, emotions are running high, alliances are cracking, and the road to the final just became far more unpredictable.

    One thing is certain:
Ruby Wax didn’t just leave the jungle — she left a massive hole in it.

The emotional news reportedly reached Jack while he remains inside the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in Australia. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jack was seen breaking down in tears as the reality of becoming a father again began to sink in.

Kelly's departure followed Vogue Williams, Eddie Kadi and Alex Scott 's exits ahead of Sunday's finaleKelly’s departure followed Vogue Williams, Eddie Kadi and Alex Scott ‘s exits ahead of Sunday’s finale

Choking back sobs, he quietly told those around him:
“I just want to go home to my wife right now.”

After her departure, Kelly broke down in tears as she was reunited with her husband Jeremy Parisi on the famous jungle bridge

After months of mourning his father’s passing, those close to Jack believe the unborn baby already feels like a little angel sent to heal the family’s deepest pain following Ozzy’s death from a heart attack in July at the age of 79.

Aree, 34 — who married Jack in a secret ceremony in 2023 after meeting him on a dating app in 2019 — was recently spotted in Queensland, Australia, supporting her husband as he continues his jungle journey. Observers noticed what appeared to be a visible baby bump beneath her Aztec-patterned jumpsuit, sparking widespread speculation among fellow contestants’ families.

Jack and Aree already share a three-year-old daughter, Maple Artemis, and friends say the thought of another grandchild would bring enormous comfort to Sharon Osbourne, who has remained in the UK since Ozzy’s passing.

“She is completely heartbroken,” a source close to Sharon revealed. “Any news like this would finally bring a much-needed smile back to her face.”

On the show, Jack has spoken openly about the shock of losing his father so suddenly. In one emotional Jungle conversation, he admitted:
“We knew he was sick… but we didn’t know it would be that quick.”

Since receiving the pregnancy news, Jack has reportedly found fresh strength inside the camp. In a powerful emotional moment, he is said to have vowed that he will fight for victory as a gift for his wife and children, determined to turn pain into purpose.

“He wants to win this for them,” a source shared. “For Aree. For the baby. For his family.”

Jack is also father to Pearl, 13, Andy, 10, and Minnie, 7, from his previous marriage to Lisa Stelly, which ended in 2018. Fellow campmates have described him as the emotional rock of the jungle, offering support to others even while carrying his own grief.

While Aree remains in Australia with other contestants’ families, Sharon Osbourne has not travelled overseas, choosing instead to remain beside Ozzy’s resting place at the family’s Buckinghamshire home.

Those closest to the family now believe this unborn child represents not just new life — but a fragile light after unimaginable loss.

The truth behind the Shona McGarty and Aitch jungle romance has been revealed once and for all.

    Article continues below

Ruby Wax – who was the fifth person to leave the Jungle – told the Mirror how the EastEnders actress secretly confided in her about the rapper in unaired scenes. But Ruby – who was trying to get them together – says that Shona told her: “He’s not my type.”

She said: “He’s not her type at all. She said she likes hunky, bigger men so that she feels female, so he wasn’t on the list at all.” She also pointed towards the “age difference” with Aitch aged 25, while Shona is 34.

Ruby says: “I wanted her to marry him. I thought we could have children and we’d live in the forest forever. But she said that’s not her type. I thought we would have the next generation living in the forest, but no go.” Quizzed as to why she thought they could have been a good couple, she admitted: “I just saw the two youngest people, and they both sing. Why not? I was doing mating rituals. But then she wasn’t interested. He wasn’t either. No, I think he just liked her. She’s into big guys.”

The conversation between the two women was not aired by ITV. But it came amid frenzied speculation that something was brewing between the two campmates. Aitch had confessed his feelings about Shona to Angry Ginge at the end of last week, admitting: “I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me.” Ant and Dec in particular were desperate for a jungle romance. Dec previously said he was shell-shocked by Aitch’s comments when watching the scenes shortly before they aired.

He said: “This came completely out of the blue this morning.” While Ant added: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper romance on this show. We’d love to see it….we would celebrate it.” Shona family had even given Aitch their seal of approval. The actress’ sister Camila delivered her verdict on the rapper as she landed at Brisbane Airport.

She said: “He is a nice guy…I would definitely have him around for Christmas.” But Camilla said that she needed to see more evidence that romance is actually blossoming. She added: “I don’t know if I see it romantically…it might just be a brother and sister relationship but I don’t know…I don’t think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it.” Shona broke up with her musician fiancé, David Bracken, earlier this year. Insiders say the split is amicable, and he recently wished her all the best for the jungle on social media. Aitch is also single after splitting with Lois Cottam before going into the Jungle.

Good Morning Britain’s regular broadcast was interrupted on Tuesday’s instalment of the show as political correspondent Richard Gaisford stood outside No. 10 Downing Street to announce that Keir Starmer will hold a cabinet meeting today amid further fallout from Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Budget.

It comes after the Labour leader’s unprecedented speech on Monday defending Reeves, and the resignation of Richard Hughes, who was the Budget watchdog chief. Gaisford told hosts Charlotte Hawkins, who was speaking to him live from the ITV studio: “They are the focus of many headlines still in the right-leaning press, really, about the decision to increase welfare spending by raising taxes.

“And importantly, Charlotte, not actually revealing the full state of the nation’s finances in that press conference on November 4.”

He added: “The Christmas lights are now on here in Downing Street, but there’s not a lot of festive cheer though. It’s going to be an interesting, potentially tense cabinet meeting, as the Chancellor will be sitting around the table with senior government ministers who, it seems, have been talking to newspapers saying they feel she misled them and misled the country as well.”

The GMB star explained that Reeves has the “tough task” of having to find a new chair of the Office for Budget Responsibility after the boss resigned yesterday (Monday, December 1).

Martin Kemp’s wife Shirlie has issued the I’m A  Celebrity star a warning, as his family are concerned about his lack of airtime on the series.

The singer is currently in the jungle with the other celebrities, such as Angry Ginge and Aitch. But they’re concerned, along with fans, that he’s not being shown like the other campmates and is at risk of elimination.

Shirlie gave a strong piece of advice to her husband, as his family complain other stars are getting more airtime.

Their latest gripe came after Jack Osbourne and Lisa Riley treated campmates to a puppet show starring, yes, Angry Ginge’s ears. And still no sign of Martin.

Messaging from Martin’s official X account, the Kemp family complained: “Not ginge’s talking ear having more screen time than martin. #ImACeleb.”

A second message read: “If we keep voting for Martin Kemp to stay in #ImACeleb, and he’s the only person left in the camp, they’ll HAVE TO INCLUDE HIM IN THE EPISODE?!??!”

They also hammered their point home by sharing a mock-up of a Where’s Wally book. Instead, it was titled Where’s Martin and, sharing a picture on X, they remarked: “Available in all-good bookstores: ‘Where’s Martin?’ The official tie-in for this series of #ImACeleb. Includes more sightings than the actual show.”

Wife Shirlie warns I’m A Celebrity’s Martin Kemp to ‘do more’

Martin’s family aren’t the only ones who are fed up at the singer’s lack of airtime in this year’s I’m A Celebrity. Fans have been furiously demanding they see more of him for days.

Last night, another viewer wrote: “Serious question, how is Martin Kemp still in there? I guess his fan base is massive because we’ve basically not seen him for a week and a half.”

Someone else added: “Ngl I keep forgetting Martin’s there. Whenever anyone mentions Martin I think, who ? Oh yea Martin Kemp I forgot he was there.”

Meanwhile, Martin’s wife Shirlie has appeared on ITV1’s Lorraine live from Australia. The 80s singer is currently Down Under waiting for her husband to leave the jungle.

Touching upon his lack of airtime, Shirlie hinted that she is frustrated with him for ‘not doing enough’ while in the jungle.

“I think Martin’s being quite quiet though, because that’s naturally who he is,” Shirlie said.

“He’s quite quiet and likes to listen. Sometimes I want to say to him, ‘Martin, come on, do more!’ But I think it’s a good detox and a rest for him.”

Martin’s wife Shirlie demands more trials

Lorraine told Shirlie she believes Martin could make it all the way to the final. But Shirlie disagreed – due to his lack of Bushtucker Trials.

Shirley added: “He needs more trials, he’s not doing enough. I think he’s very comfortable. He’s not doing anything to annoy anyone, so no one is voting for him to do a horrible trial. He would be up for it.”

Martin now faces the chop along with the rest of the remaining campmates – Jack, Lisa, Tom Read Wilson, Ruby Wax, Angry Ginge, Aitch, Shona McGarty and Kelly Brook all find themselves in the danger zone as the numbers dwindle.

Vogue Williams became the third star to leave the jungle last night, and with another eviction looming, the pressure is well and truly on. Tonight’s episode kicks off at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and it’s anyone’s guess who’ll be next to go.

So, will Martin hang in there for one more night? Fans are certainly hoping so.
