Although both Harry and the King have agreed to look into ways to end the deep family feud, there is no plans for Harry to make a return as a working member of the royal family. A source claimed: “The meeting was with Harry’s blessing.” Buckingham Palace is also reportedly supporting plans to “open a channel of communication.”

Harry is next due to visit the UK in September, which could mean the first time meeting his father in 18 months.

The hush-hush talks were held at a private members’ club just minutes from Clarence House, and have been tipped as a crucial “first step” in what insiders believed could be a “rapprochement process” between the estranged Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family.

It’s believed the meeting took place last week, with Harry’s right-hand woman, Meredith Maines, flying in from California to meet the King’s communications chief, Tobyn Andreae, on neutral ground at the Royal Over-Seas League.

Also in the secret meeting was Liam Maguire, who heads up the Sussexes’ UK PR team, as the trio held what one insider described as “informal drinks” in the scorching sunshine on the club’s garden terrace.

A source close to the situation told MailOnline: “There was no formal agenda. But both sides came to the table ready to talk. It’s the first real channel of communication we’ve seen in years.”

It remains unclear who made the first move between the estranged father and son, but the meeting is being hailed as the clearest sign yet that both camps are keen to bury the hatchet after years of public potshots, explosive interviews, and family heartache.

Almost two decades after splitting from Brian McFadden, Kerry Katona has revealed that she reached out to the Westlife singer’s new wife, Danielle Parkinson, on their wedding day earlier this month. Kerry, who shares daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue with Brian, said in her weekly New! Magazine column that she had sent Danielle a text on the morning of her wedding – days after it was reported the exes would ‘never be friends’.

“My ex, Brian McFadden, got married earlier this month and I just want to wish him and his wife Danielle a lifetime of happiness,” began Kerry in the column. Following reports that the singer had ‘burned all bridges’ with Brian, she hit back by continuing: “I find it sad though that as he gets married, everyone writes stories about me.

Coleen Nolan has admitted that she doesn’t feel “sexy” unless she is on holiday. The Loose Women favourite, 60, candidly spoke of her discomfort during the rising temperatures, and insisted that she couldn’t stand the thought getting intimate with anyone after she had been looking after livestock on her farm amid the intense heat.

During a discussion with fellow panellists Jane Moore and Judi Love and anchor Christine Lampard about feeling attractive in the heat on Monday’s episode of the ITV chat show Coleen confessed: “On holiday, yeah but not here.”

She added: “This weekend, for instance, it was so hot and I stank of horses. I was sweating from places I didn’t even know existed and then I thought if I had have a partner, he would have not a chance in hell because I’m too hot!”

When former I’m A Celebrity star Jane pointed out out that, according to a psychologist, sunshine was what was needed to boost libido, Coleen quipped: “And a really good fan…”

After the split, Coleen said: “It’s nothing to do with anyone else, it’s nobody’s fault. But I’m really busy and when I’m not really busy with work I’m busy on the farm and I feel personally that I can’t give time to everything. We still get along great and hopefully we can continue to be friends, who knows?”

While she’s still officially single, Coleen said she’d “probably date again”, but was waiting for the right time – and the right person to come along.

Coleen, who was once married to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, followed by musician Ray Fensome, said she doesn’t’ necessarily miss “sex”, but the odd bit physical affection would be welcome.

Coronation Street fan favourite Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has become the victim of a stabbing on Coronation Street, and the shocking twist has brought into question his future in Weatherfield.

On Monday night’s episode, the policeman was attacked by evil Mick Michaelis and his girlfriend Sarah Platt ( Tina O’Brien ) was seen rushing through the hospital in tears. The copper was revealed to have become a rival of Mick in years gone by during a flashback episode, when it emerged that Kit had let Mick take the blame for a crime he committed when they were teenagers.

Whilst he was in prison, Kit fathered Brody with Mick’s girlfriend Lou (Farrel Hegarty) and she kept the paternity a secret for years. On the Street, Mick was led away in handcuffs as shocked members of the community look on in disbelief.

Amongst the residents was Kit’s mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove). The café worker cried out “That’s my son…” as an ambulance siren blared.

And at one point, a cuffed Mick turned to Brody (Ryan Mulvey) to apologise to the teenager, who still calls him dad even though the truth was revealed to him some weeks ago. It followed on from a dramatic tussle as Kit tried to stop Mick escaping to the roof to get his daughter Joanie.

Mick had gone to prison following the brutal murder of PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) back in May, but this week he escaped and it would now appear that Kit’s life also hangs in the balance. Mick stabbed Kit after Kit gloated about Brody being his child.

Kit was left bloodied and injured before help arrived, but it was clear he was in a bad way. Whether he survives remains to be seen.

Spoilers for Wednesday reveal that Kit is still alive, although his condition in hospital takes a turn for the worst, But Brody actor Ryan previously teased that there were “so many dramatic scenes” coming up for the three major characters.

In hinting that Kit will in fact survive his injuries, the teenage start admitted that he was “really excited” about what is to come for his alter-ego on the soap. Noting that there are some “average dad and lad scenes” coming up for Brody and his biological father, the actor seemingly confirmed that Kit will pull through.

On what the future could hold for Brody and Kit amid secrecy about how the big plot ends, Ryan teased: “It’s a great dynamic. His dad being a policeman and Brody the way he is, always getting into trouble.

“I love working with Jacob. It’s great because there’s so many dramatic scenes that we can play of finding out he’s his dad and all the drama and emotion around that.

“There’s probably a lot of resentment there for him as well. But there’s also just the average dad and lad scenes that would be exciting to do, say, like involving girls, throwing a house party, there’s just so many different routes we could do with the dad and son which is really exciting to come.”

While Buckingham Palace is now widely considered one of the most secure and protected buildings in the world, the heightened security hasn’t always patrolled the royal residence. The excess of security at the Palace we see today is largely due to an astonishing event that happened 43 years ago.

In July 1982, painter and decorator Michael Fagan broke into Buckingham Palace after scaling the walls of the iconic building and slipping into the bedroom of the late Queen Elizabeth. While many were shocked how such an intrusion on the royal family could occur, the 33-year-old had in fact broken into the Palace more than once.

On his first venture into the Palace, Fagan scaled a drainpipe and entered the premises through an unlocked window. While the intruder was spotted by a frantic member of staff, police dismissed the maid’s claims that she had seen the man roaming such a protected residence.

Fagan then tripped three separate alarms, but police once again ignored the warning system and instead switched them off believing it to be faulty, letting the intruder evade any capture and wander around freely.

During his 30 minutes in the Palace, he admired the artwork, had a foray into the throne room and drank from a bottle of wine that was among presents sent to Prince Charles and Princess Diana to celebrate the birth of Prince William just two weeks earlier.

After polishing off the wine, as well as a selection of cheese and crackers, Fagan left the Palace on his own accord, only to re-enter several weeks later given the obvious lack of security during his first unauthorised visit.

Weeks later at 6am, Fagan entered the Palace again. Over the years, his story has drastically changed on how exactly he gained access to the Palace, but it is widely believed he initially went into an anteroom, where he cut his hand after breaking a glass ashtray.

The intruder, who was barefoot and under the influence of alcohol, then entered the bedroom of the late Queen Elizabeth, as he sat on the end of her bed as she slept. The monarch then woke with a fright, and spoke to Fagan for several minutes to talk him down from any rash decisions.

The late Queen had discreetly pressed an alarm bell to call for help, but the policeman who had been on guard outside her room had finished his shift. In addition, an alarm that Fagan had tripped before he entered the Queen’s bedroom was turned off by police, who again thought it was faulty.

While initial reports claim that the Queen spoke to Fagan calmly while she waited for help, in 2012, Fagan claimed this wasn’t the case. Instead, he said that when he pulled back the curtain of her bed, she immediately leapt up and passed him to call security.

“I was scareder than I’d ever been in my life,” Fagan told the Independent. “Then she speaks and it’s like the finest glass you can imagine breaking: ‘What are you doing here?!’”

The Queen was soon rescued by her dedicated footman, Paul Whybrew, who was just 20 years old at the time and had been out walking the Queen’s corgis.

Whybrew, who served the Queen until her death in 2022, gave Fagan a glass of whisky to calm him down before police arrived. Fagan was then arrested but was not charged with trespassing in the Queen’s bedroom because, at the time, such an action was a civil wrong rather than a criminal offence.

The audacious break-in shocked both the general public and the Metropolitan Police, and led to a massive increase in the number of officers patrolling the grounds and significant improvements were made to perimeter security.

In the decades since the intrusion, Michael Fagan has long claimed he broke into the palace because he thought the monarch could help him after he had been left by his wife to raise his four children alone, and never intended to cause her any alarm.
