Katie Price has been issued an “ultimatum” by her boyfriend JJ Slater, a source has revealed to new. The ex-glamour model, 47, admitted last week that she was on the brink of homelessness, as she must move out of her rental property – due to the landlord selling up – and is struggling to find a new home.

Our source claimed that between Katie’s financial stresses and drama-filled lifestyle, JJ, 33, is putting his foot down and urging her to take her problems more seriously.

“JJ has had enough of all the drama,” they claimed. “Katie isn’t responsible with money and has been struggling with the moving situation, which JJ feels she sometimes takes out on him. He has given Katie an ultimatum, explaining that she needs to start taking accountability for her finances and get her ducks in a row – if they’re to have a real chance together.”

Tongues had been wagging of late when JJ was absent from Katie’s Instagram page for more than a month. Meanwhile, Katie hasn’t appeared on his social media since April – and neither of them has spoken publicly about their relationship in weeks. It caused fans to question whether there was trouble in paradise – previously, Katie and JJ have taken numerous romantic getaways, delightedly sharing loved-up snaps together on social media.

But seemingly dispelling any notion of a split, Katie shared a snap to Instagram Stories while on a photoshoot last week which revealed JJ sitting in the foreground.

Discussing her precarious living situation, the mum-of-five had explained on an episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, that she couldn’t rent a new property, as she was struggling to find a guarantor.

“It p****s me off,” said Katie. ”Some houses I look at, I can’t get a guarantor. Some people don’t earn enough to be one for me. One house I do want, the landlord wants six months’ rent up front and a guarantor – even though I’ve got the best reference ever [from her former landlord].”

Katie has been renting a £5,000-a-month new build since being legally forced out of her ‘Mucky Mansion’ property in May last year, following a bankruptcy declaration in March 2024. She had owned the home since 2014 and it was sold last December.

It’s thought that JJ has been living with her in recent months, but last week it was reported the reality star had moved out and they had gone their separate ways. While our source said this is not the case and the pair are still very much in a relationship, they did claim the pair have issues they need to tackle.

“Katie and JJ are on the rocks,” claimed our source. “He is half living with her and half not – it’s a tricky situation at the moment. He feels like, when they are living together, he becomes a chopping board for her to take stress out on, so that’s something that needs to change.”

The couple met after JJ rose to prominence during a stint on 2023’s Married At First Sight UK. Katie subsequently messaged him on Instagram and they began dating at the start of 2024, going public in February. The pair seemed to progress quickly as a couple and Katie gushed last December that she was keen to marry JJ, saying, “I’d love to get married again.”

If the couple were to end up getting married, it would be Katie’s fourth time walking down the aisle, after previous failed unions with Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler. More recently, she was engaged to Carl Woods, who she split from at the end of 2023 after a turbulent relationship.

Katie, who is mum to Harvey, 23, Junior, 20, Princess, 18, Jett, 11, and Bunny, 10, has made no secret of her desire to have more children and even explored IVF with Carl. Appearing to confirm that it’s a goal she’d like to achieve with JJ, who doesn’t have any children, Katie said in November, “I’m at that stage and I do want more kids. And I don’t want to be told by a doctor or something that I can’t have more. I know I’m not done. If I could have two more kids, I would.”

Whether those hopes will come to fruition with JJ remains to be seen. Our source claimed the love is certainly there – things just need to change between them. “JJ does love Katie and he knows they can be really happy,” said the source. “It’s just a case of her not getting so involved in drama all of the time and taking things more seriously. That’s all JJ wants.”

Martine McCutcheon and her mum, Jenny Tomlin, used to be joined at the hip, but a sudden death in the family led to a devastating breakdown. Now heartbroken Jenny is desperate for a reconciliation. “There was nothing she didn’t include me in,” says Jenny. “We did all the wonderful stuff – the premiere of Love Actually, the restaurants – but the memories I cherish are of us just sitting on my bed, bringing up old memories and laughing. Their relationship started to fall apart after the tragic death of Martine’s brother Laurence John – known affectionately as LJ – in 2022. He was just 31. Jenny says she suffered an emotional breakdown and pushed Martine away. Jenny, 69, wants to apologise to Martine, 49, for cutting her off, she reveals in an exclusive interview with OK!.

“When I lost LJ, I detached. I was so heartbroken I couldn’t talk to Martine,” she says. “There was no big row – Martine tried to contact me for months, but I didn’t answer. Martine was grieving and needed me, too. “I want the chance to say sorry. I miss her so much – it physically hurts.”

Jenny and Martine did meet once, briefly, last October, but it wasn’t the reunion she hoped for. “Martine texted me out of the blue,” says Jenny. “She’d moved into a new home and wondered if my husband Alan could do some painting. We jumped at the chance and went over, but we didn’t talk in depth. It was awkward and the atmosphere felt heavy.”

There was vague talk of Christmas plans, but nothing was confirmed. That, Jenny says, was when the silence truly began. Reflecting on another high-profile rift that has made headlines, Jenny says: “I understand the pain Victoria Beckham is going through over her estrangement from Brooklyn. He was her firstborn, too. It’s a heartbreaking situation for anybody who is estranged or has lost their child.”

Recalling the pain of losing LJ, Jenny’s voice cracks. “It’s not the natural order to lose a child.” But Jenny realises the mistake she made “broke” Martine’s heart. “Eventually, I did pull myself out of that dark hole, but maybe it was too late,” she says.

Recalling the day LJ died, Jenny says she got a phone call from his fiancée, who said he’d collapsed and they couldn’t revive him. Still in her pyjamas, Jenny drove the hour and a half from her home in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire to LJ’s by the Essex coast – but it was too late.

“My precious boy was on the floor, wrapped up. I remember saying, ‘It’s OK to open your eyes now, son, I’m here’,” she says, tearfully. “They’d worked hard doing CPR on him, but couldn’t bring him back. “It was like a nightmare. I couldn’t believe my boy was gone.”

An autopsy revealed that LJ – who didn’t smoke or drink – had succumbed to acute ischaemic heart disease and diabetes. Jenny rang Martine from the scene, but was so distraught her daughter had to speak to paramedics to find out what had happened. In the early hours, Jenny drove to Martine’s.

“She looked at me and realised I needed looking after,” Jenny says. “She’d prepared the spare room, stroked my hair, gave me a cuddle and, somehow, I slept.” LJ was laid to rest on 31 October 2022. After, Jenny says her life went “down a deep, dark pit”. She says, “I was seen by a mental health team and given anti-anxiety meds.”

Martine, who played Tiffany Mitchell in EastEnders from 1994 to 1998, was 15 when LJ was born and Jenny recalls how she became a sort of surrogate mum to him. Following LJ’s death, Jenny was paralysed by anxiety, and suspects this is at the heart of why she hasn’t seen her daughter or grandson, 10-year-old Rafferty, in so long.

“I didn’t contact Martine,” she says. “I abandoned her. I was so wrapped up in my own grief that I was neglecting my other child. That was the start of it, and things just… snowballed. And here we are.” Jenny, an author of novels and memoir, including Behind Closed Doors about the abuse she suffered as a child, says she’s reached out to Martine recently – calling, texting, sending cards – but claims she has had no response.

Just weeks ago, after a moment of clarity, Jenny and Alan drove the 90 minutes to Martine’s house in Surrey. “I was banging on the door shouting her name,” she admits. “But nobody answered. So I gave up, got in the car and drove home distraught. I turned to Alan and said, ‘I don’t think she’ll ever speak to me again’.

“That’s why I’ve done this interview as a plea for Martine to get in touch.” In the last couple of months, Jenny feels more like herself and has started writing a memoir about LJ. But her guilt over Martine remains. “I let Martine down. There’s not a day goes by when I don’t think of her.

“Losing Rafferty has felt like another death,” she says. And her love for Rafferty has inspired Jenny to write children’s books, which she hopes to dedicate to him.

When Martine’s 18-year relationship to musician Jack McManus broke down last year, she and Jenny weren’t in contact. And it’s not something Jenny is willing to discuss. “That’s between Martine and Jack,” she says.

“I don’t think I’ll ever stop trying when it comes to my girl. If I could speak to Martine, I’d tell her how sorry I am. I’ve lost one child, I don’t want to lose another.”

Next year, Jenny turns 70. The greatest gift anyone could give her would be to share a cuppa with her daughter, while her grandson plays in the garden. “I’ve seen what silence does to families,” she says. “I don’t want that for us. I don’t want to be another story of regret. I want us to love each other. To find our way back.”

‘Trauma doesn’t always look like tears’

Grief expert Tina Chummun, Person Centred Trauma Specialist Psychotherapist of Care2Counsel, says of Jenny’s situation: “When a mother loses a child, especially in a traumatic or unexpected way, her nervous system can become overwhelmed – we often see intense grief manifest as numbness, withdrawal or cognitive collapse.

“If you are grieving the loss of one child, and in that shattered fragile state, couldn’t show up for the other. From the daughter’s perspective, her mum may have seemed to disappear just when she needed her most, creating a rupture that now feels insurmountable.

Tina adds, “For a mother, emerging from that fog years later and finding the door closed can feel like experiencing a second bereavement – the living grief of estrangement as though she’s lost both children. Rebuilding trust starts with accountability, patience and time..”

“Trauma doesn’t always look like tears – sometimes, it looks like silence behind closed doors. The bridge back is built slowly, with humility and hope. Vulnerability can be the bridge that grief once burned.”

Coleen Nolan has revealed that her son, Shane, ‘f***ed up’ his marriage to Miss Great Britain star Maddie Wahdan amid a secret battle with drug addiction. The 36-year-old singer, who Coleen shares with ex-husband Shane Richie, split from the beauty queen in December 2023 amid reports he had been unfaithful – just a year after they had tied the knot.

Now, Shane has opened up about his battle with drug addiction at the time, which saw him be admitted to rehab as his family feared for his life. Speaking about the ordeal for the first in a new video for her YouTube channel, Loose Women star Coleen, 60, said told her son, ” It might be a great high for however long but you were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction. Relationships, you f***ed your marriage basically.”

At the time of Shane’s split from Maddie, it was reported that Coleen was been upset’ and ‘disappointed’ over the split, with sources claiming it was like ‘history repeating itself’ after his father cheated on Coleen back in the 90s. Now, he is in a new relationship with girlfriend Kimberly Sallis, and revealed earlier this month they are expecting their first child together.

Crediting Kimberly for helping him through the drug addiction, Shane said in the video, “I think I’ve had to grow up. I’ve got a girlfriend who has helped me through it massively, we’re starting a family now.”

Admitting that his hectic work schedule led to the addiction starting, the singer explained, “The constant moving, the travelling all of the time, having to be on stage until 11 o’clock at night, so the only way to pick yourself up is to [do drugs].

“I’d have a three day bender but I wasn’t [doing drugs] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It probably would have got to that. I was splitting up, I was going through a tough time work wise, I didn’t know what I wanted to do,” he continued.

For Coleen, the situation had her fearing her son may not make it, as she recalled there was a ‘breaking point’ before he was admitted to a rehab centre.

“I remember when the time came that you passed out and split your head open early in the morning. He split his head open and got eight staples, or whatever it is, in his head. That was my breaking point, if this doesn’t wake him up, he will… I kept saying, ‘He’s going to die’,” she told Shane in the video.

Blaming herself, Coleen continued, ““From a mother’s point of view, I just felt I’d done something wrong. I really blamed me for all of it. People kept saying, ‘You have to talk to him, you have to do this’ and I couldn’t. I thought, ‘I’m really failing on all levels though’.

“So, when you split your head open, I thought the next call could be, ‘He’s overdosed’. I just remember thinking, ‘I’ve just failed him and I can’t take this pain away from him’, If I could’ve taken it for myself I would’ve.”

Now, with Shane sober and set to welcome a new baby, Coleen says the family can finally relax: “It’s only until recently we’ve all just relaxed. The difference for me now, is you’re just nicer to be around. I didn’t dread you coming around, but I kind of did. I don’t know, it was horrible.”

Gregg Wallace has conceded his career is over after he was fired from the BBC following accusations of inappropriate behaviour. He was a judge on MasterChef, the celebrity version of the series, and MasterChef The Professionals on the BBC from 2005 until he was suspended last year.

This month, the BBC upheld 45 claims out of 83 allegations spanning from 2005 until 2024 against the star and confirmed they had “no plans to work with him in future”. The 60-year-old father-of-three – who yesterday insisted “I’m not a groper, a sex pest or a flasher” following the conclusion of the BBC investigation – has now admitted his TV career is over beyond his BBC contracts.

The BBC has confirmed they will air the final season of MasterChef that was recorded with Wallace and his co-host John Torode that was filmed before accusations began to emerge against Wallace. Torode has also been dropped from MasterChef after an investigation concluded he had used racist language in the past.

Wallace has backed his former co-star, defending him from the allegations that ended his MasterChef contract. Now he has admitted his belief that he will never work on screen again. He also shared his worries about his financial security as he has a young family.

Opening up to The Sun, Wallace said: “I’m hurt. I don’t want anything to do with telly. I don’t want anything to do with the BBC.” He went on to allege that he had been a victim of sexual harassment and that he had always overlooked inappropriate behaviour.

He told the publication: “The whole complaints procedure needs to be readdressed – there are huge problems with it as things stand.

“Being on MasterChef was brilliant but I had so many bad experiences on that show too. Had I wanted to raise any complaints, I’d have had the decency to speak to that person directly. Privately, not publicly.”

He went on to list a number of alleged incidents where, he claims, he was groped by women when they asked him for selfies and that female contestants on MasterChef made inappropriate comments to him.

Having been accused of exposing himself while on the set of MasterChef, Wallace has reasoned that he would change his clothes in front of others and wasn’t shy about revealing his torso. He has also acknowledged that much of the upheld criticism centred around his use of sexualised or inappropriate remarks, which he has taken responsibility for, but attributes this to his upbringing.

Reflecting on the experience, he admitted to The Sun on Friday: “I have learnt a lot about myself over the past eight months or so… I understand now and to anyone I have hurt, I am so sorry.”

He added: “I don’t expect anyone to have any sympathy with me but I don’t think I am a wrong ’un.”

Earlier this month, Wallace said he was “deeply sorry for any distress” he caused with his past behaviour after the BBC concluded their investigation. In a statement released via the PA, he insisted that he “never set out to harm or humiliate” anyone.

MasterChef’s production company, Banijay, employed an independent law firm to conduct the investigation into the allegations made against Wallace.

The incident sparked comment from the government, with the Prime Minister’s official spokesman saying: “We’re clear that appropriate steps must be taken to ensure abuses of power are prevented from happening in the future.”

She passed away decades before he was born

The untimely death of Princess Diana sadly meant that Prince George never got to meet his late grandmother.

However, that hasn’t stopped them from having a special connection.

Prince George and Princess Diana were both born on ‘blistering’ hot days

Diana sadly died in 1997 at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris.

However, previously speaking about the birth of Prince George, Diana’s brother explained that the tot’s arrival reminded him of his sister.

Earl Spencer told Hello!: “My father always told us how Diana was born on just such a blisteringly hot day, at Sandringham, in July 1961.”

He then commented on the similarities to the day George was born.

“It’s another very happy summer’s day, half a century on,” he said, linking the two.

Prince George was born on July 22, 2013 in St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, in the height of summer.

Kate and William have since welcomed daughter Princess Charlotte, 10, and son Prince Lois, seven.

The young royal, second in line to the throne, was born at 4.24pm on that hot summer’s day in 2013. He arrived weighing 8lb 6 oz, and it’s believed the Princess of Wales delivered him naturally at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Kate and William delayed the public announcement of Prince George’s birth for almost four hours. The official statement arrived at around 8pm from Kensington Palace.

When it came to sharing the news with his family, the now Prince of Wales called up his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, to tell her the joyous news, while using a specially encrypted phone.

Kate opened up about giving birth to her son Prince George while speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her podcast.

Kate said: “Amazing, amazing. It is extraordinary as I’ve said. How can the human body do that? It is utterly extraordinary, actually. And he was very sweet. And also sort of relieved that he was a happy, healthy boy.”

When asked how many hours she was in labour, the now mum-of-three couldn’t remember. Kate added: “I… Oh my gosh, I can’t remember. Everything goes in a bit of a blur. I think, yeah I did stay in hospital overnight, I remember it was one of the hottest days and night with huge thunderstorms so I didn’t get a huge amount of sleep, but George did which was really great.”

Prince Harry was overjoyed to become an uncle at the time. While speaking at a Sentebale event around his birth, he said: “When I saw him [Prince George] he was crying as all babies do, but it’s fantastic to have a new member of the family. I hope my brother knows how expensive my babysitting charges will be.”

When asked by the reporter what his goal as an uncle will be, Harry made a point to ‘keep him out of harm’s way’.

Harry added: “To make sure he has a good upbringing, to keep him out of harm’s way and make sure he has fun. The rest of it I leave up to the parents.”

Hospital photoshoot

Not only were Princess Diana and Prince George’s births both on a scorching summer’s day, but Kate has honoured her late mother-in-law through her post-birth appearances at the hospital.

When leaving the hospital with a new baby, Kate and William did the same for each of their three children.

She also appeared to pay tribute to Diana through her clothing, including wearing a red Jenny Packham dress with a white Peter Pan collar after giving birth to Prince Louis. This was similar to the outfit Diana chose when she and Charles introduced Prince Harry.

After Prince George’s birth, the now Princess of Wales opted for a blue polka dot dress, which strikes a resemblance to what the late Diana wore after Prince William was born.

For Princess Charlotte, who arrived in May 2015, Kate wore another Jenny Packham dress. This time, she opted for yellow for the long-sleeved dress as it was slightly cooler.

Special tradition ‘kept alive’ after Diana’s death

One of Prince George’s godparents, Julia Samuel, revealed she continues a tradition started by Princess Diana with her godson.

She said that Diana started a tradition with Julia’s children where she would gift them a naughty present.

“So I do to George what she did to us which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making,” Julia said.

She added: “I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together.

“And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh.”

The colour has since returned to her hands…

This week, Love Island star Olivia Attwood joined the This Morning presenting team, fronting Friday’s show (July 25) alongside Dermot O’Leary.

Speaking on her So Wrong It’s Right podcast opposite Bradley, Olivia regaled her audience with a story about an intimate moment the couple had recently shared.

“The other week or month,” she said, “on a random Tuesday, Brad tied my arms up with duct tape. And then we had a moment of pure panic when he couldn’t find the end of it. My hands started to turn blue. My hands hurt and then you were like: ‘I can’t find the end.’”

Fortunately, she delivered the anecdote with a big smile on her face. That is, until she realised, “our parents listen to this”.

They were talking about having “planned sex” on Valentine’s Day. They said it wasn’t really their style. Someone in the comments told them to “wait till kids come along”, and assured them that “planning is still hot!” Overall, listeners were amused.

However, Bradley’s mum Deb commented to note she wasn’t sure if she should listen to the episode on her run today, followed by a generous helping of flushed face emojis…

She paired the look with what looked to be matching bottoms and accessorised herself with a necklace featuring her first-name initial.

Holly covered her eyes with the front of her face and flashed a huge radiant smile while appearing to be in her garden.

“When your not in Wembley but your head is… have fun tonight if you’re lucky enough to be going. Miss you @shishib @andybebop,” she wrote in her caption.

The upload racked up more than 27,000 likes and over 200 comments from fans who gushed over the star.

Kate Middleton is said to be “devastated” over alleged plans for her son Prince George to attend a prestigious boarding school, a move she reportedly fears will create emotional distance and increase the risks he faces as a future king.

Next year, when he turns 13, George will leave Lambrook school in Berkshire. According to reports, George could follow in his father, Prince William’s footsteps and attend Eton College, a boys’ boarding school in Windsor.

A source has reportedly told RadarOnline that Kate, 43, feels “really sad and anxious” about losing precious time with George, 12, during his formative years.

“Kate is devastated that Prince George will be sent to an elite private school,” a royal courtier reportedly claimed. “She wants to spend more time with him.”

However, Prince William, 43, is reportedly taking a more traditional stance.

Having attended Eton College himself, insiders apparently claim that the Prince of Wales sees boarding school as a “rite of passage”. He is likely to support George enrolling at Eton as early as September 2026, the source suggested.

Kate is devastated that Prince George will be sent to an elite private school.

George, who celebrated his 12th birthday on July 22, has faced growing speculation about where he’ll continue his education next year.

As she recovers from cancer, the source claimed that Kate may want to be with her family “as much as she can”. But if George moves away from the family’s Windsor home for boarding school, she may “not get that chance”.

She also reportedly has concerns about George’s privacy and safety.

“In this day and age of social media, she is concerned about George’s privacy,” the insider continued.

‘It could give her a lot of anxiety’

Kensington Palace hasn’t yet confirmed a decision on George’s schooling future. However, the possibility of boarding school looms not just for George, but for William and Kate’s younger children, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, too.

The insider added: “If she’s not there to encourage and care for her children, it could give her a lot of anxiety.”

Last month, a report claimed that William and Kate had reached an agreement regarding George’s next school.

After months of speculation, sources told the Mail on Sunday that “all roads lead to Eton”.

Reports claimed that William and Kate reached an agreement after visiting top schools, including Eton and Kate’s alma mater, Marlborough College.

Although Marlborough would have allowed Charlotte to join her brother later on, Eton’s proximity to Windsor and its royal history apparently swayed the decision.

Other schools reportedly considered include Highgate School, which Kate visited earlier this year.

George currently attends Lambrook School in Berkshire with his siblings.

Ahead of the ceremony, it was revealed that Jack and Hanni were having a “big white wedding” and had “gone all out to make sure it’s their dream day” with “no expense spared”.

In photos obtained by the Mirror, Jack arrived with his son, Reuben, whom he shares with his ex Lauren Shippey, in a red convertible Mustang.

Looking stylish for the occasion, Jack wore a cream blazer, black trousers and a black bow tie.

The stunning Manchester Cathedral, built in 1421, can accommodate around 940 people in total, and was jam-packed with familiar guests.

Star-studded guests

Jack’s fellow Corrie pals Colson Smith and Ben Price played a special role as groomsmen.

Photographed entering the venue together, the pair wore black suits with black bow ties and white shirts with wedding flowers in the front pocket of their jackets.

More Corrie favourites from Lucy Fallon, Tina O’Brien and Julia Goulding all turned up to the big day in colourful dresses.

Meanwhile, Helen Worth, who played Jack’s character’s mum, Gail Platt, was seen for the first time since leaving the soap.

Jack previously stated that none of his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates would not be invited. However, Chris Hughes still managed to attend without his partner, JoJo Siwa, who he met on the show.

Alan Halsall brings new girlfriend

Alan Halsall appeared with his new girlfriend, Ellie Dolan, as they were snapped walking into the venue holding hands.

Gushing about his new woman, Alan shared a snapshot of the pair on his Instagram Story while tagging her with a yellow heart emoji.

“Alan is really happy. Ellie is a great girl and they have lots of common. And she gets on so well with Sienna, which is so important to Alan. Sienna is his world,” a source told the Mirror in May.

Fashionably late bride

According to the Mirror, Hanni was fashionably late to her wedding by 12 minutes. With fans waiting outside the venue to share their support, she received a round of applause and cheers from the crowd.

Hanni stunned in a white gown with a full skirt and a white, lace top. The dress featured an off-the-shoulder design with long lace sleeves.

To complete her look, Hanni opted for a mini tiara, which was a one-of-a-kind design that featured the Yorkshire rose.

Designed by Kay Bradley, she opened up about the unique accessory.

The newlywed couple soaked up the atmosphere as they walked out of the venue surrounded by white confetti. Beaming with joy, Jack and Hanni posed for official photos to commemorate their big day.

Soon after, all guests moved down to The Lowry hotel in Salford for the wedding breakfast and reception.

The bash saw more famous faces in attendance, including Peter Barlow actor Chris Gascoyne and Casualty star Jane Hazelgrove.

Corrie boss Kate Brooks also made an appearance.

Fellow Corrie co-stars, Sally Carman and Joe Duttine, were photographed making a grand exit with Joe grabbing his wife for a passionate kiss while Sally wrapped her legs around him.

However, Jack and wife Hanni reportedly made a more subtle exit at around 1 am. Hopping in the back of a black cab, the couple headed to their hotel in Manchester for some one-on-one time.

It’s been 13 years since the much-loved singer died

It’s been 13 years since Whitney Houston tragically died aged just 48 and, this weekend (July 26), the BBC honours the star with a night celebrating her music.

The singing sensation passed away on February 11, 2012, after she accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub. However, toxicology results revealed a cocktail of drugs were in her system when her body was found.

And when her only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, died just three years later, there couldn’t have been a more heartbreaking turn of events.

Death of Whitney Houston – singer died in Beverly Hills hotel room

Music superstar Whitney died on February 11, 2012, after drowning in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

According to the final autopsy report, detectives found white powdery substances and a spoon containing a “white crystal-like” residue in the hotel room. Her cause of death was eventually “established as drowning due to atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use”.

Following her death, the $500-a-night room that Whitney passed away in was taken off rotation. The number, reportedly 434, was also removed from the door.

A statement issued by the Hilton read: “Out of respect to the family and fans of Whitney, the guest room where she stayed was immediately taken out of inventory and all contents were removed. Hotel management is considering options to repurpose the space but has made no final decisions at this time.”

Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi’s tragic death

Whitney welcomed her only child, Bobbi Kristina Brown, with husband Bobby Brown, on March 4, 1993. When Whitney died in 2012, aspiring singer Bobbi was just 18.

Sadly, on January 31, 2015, three years after Whitney’s death, Bobby was found unresponsive in a bathtub – an eerie parallel to the way her mum died. She was found by her partner Gordon and a friend at her home in Alpharetta, Georgia.

According to a police spokesperson at the time, Bobbi was taken to the hospital. There, doctors found that her brain function was “significantly diminished” so she was placed in an induced coma.

What was Bobbi’s cause of death?

Unfortunately, Bobbi died on July 26, 2015. She was 22.

Autopsy results found Bobbi had “marijuana, alcohol (ethanol), benzoylecgonine (a cocaine metabolite), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety), and morphine” in her body.

An “underlying cause” such as “immersion associated with drug intoxication” is listed as her cause of death. While a final autopsy report determined she died of lobar pneumonia.

Tribute on anniversary of her death

Earlier this year, on the anniversary of her death, a tribute was posted on the singer’s official Instagram account. It showed her smiling as a little girl, her hair in plaited pigtails. The caption contained her dates of birth and death.

“She should still be here,” said one follower. Another added: “Loving, missing and remembering you, but this date hurts the most. I will always love you, Whitney. May you continue to rest with Bobbi Kris, Mom, Dad and the rest of your beloved family in the presence of our God and His Son, Jesus, who continues to give you love, comfort and strength.”
