Peter Andre bags huge new role and plans TV return after Jafaican backlash!

Mysterious Girl hitmaker Peter Andre has landed a brand new TV drama role as he has started filming already following backlash for his Jafaican film earlier this year

Peter Andre has received a boost after the backlash from his latest film project as he has landed a new TV show. The Mysterious Girl hitmaker is set to appear in his very first drama role.

He has been hit with criticisms over his latest movie, Jafaican, in which he stars as a faux gangster. Peter took centre stage in Fredi Nwaka’s latest comedy romp – playing hustler Gary Buckle who tries to be mob boss Denton ‘Kill Man’ Powell donning a fake dreadlock wig and putting on a Jamaican accent.

The flick has been marred by accusations of cultural appropriation and being labelled “tone-deaf” by some viewers. At the time, Peter brushed off critics and has already moved onto a new project.

He will appear in Channel 5’s new programme The Sunshine Murders, which also stars Stephanie Beacham, Camilla Rutherford and Nick Moran. It is due to air in September and the murder mystery sees Peter take on a starring role.

The TV star is set to take on a serious position on the show as he dons a white doctor’s coat and clinical rubber gloves to examine victims of gruesome murders. He returned to his parent’s homeland of Cyprus to shoot the series, with son Junior heading out to support him.

It comes after Peter defended his stint in Jafaican as he said: “I think it’s very easy to criticise something based on a trailer. I would say ‘Go and watch the film first,’ you will see what the film is about and you will see the context.”

He continued to tell the Daily Star: “A critic should also be able to criticise, so I understand how it is.” Peter also acknowledged that the film wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

He faced backlash for his Jafaican role(Image: INSTAGRAM)

In defence of his work, Peter commented: “In regards to critics, I think it is really important for people to all have different opinions.

“I don’t think it is right to just expect everyone to like what you’re doing, but I’ve always said that, you know, in anything I’ve ever done I’ve always had people saying: ‘Don’t do that, you shouldn’t do that, that’s not the right song to release, that’s not a good video clip.”

He went on to insist: “If I sat and listened to everybody telling me what not to do, I would never have achieved anything! I think sometimes you have to just go outside of your comfort zone and push yourself.”

Peter’s eldest children Princess and Junior have been by his side at a recent a red carpet screening for the film. While promoting the movie on Australian TV earlier in the month, Peter said of the criticism: “Well, to be fair, I mean, I think it’s good to get all sorts of feedback.

“I mean, this is not… it’s my first lead role but I’ve done quite a few roles before. And all of them, I’ve played different characters.”

GMB viewers outraged as Ed Balls fat-shames Charlotte Hawkins live on air!

Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls was forced to awkwardly backtrack after jokingly calling his co-star Charlotte Hawkins “podgy” in a throwback clip of the TV presenter

Ed Balls has come under fire from Good Morning Britain viewers this morning after calling his co-star Charlotte Hawkins “podgy” in her first This Morning appearance. During Tuesday’s show, GMB shared a throwback clip of Charlotte making her first This Morning cameo as a model back in 1996.

“I think you’ve aged beautifully,” he said. “I would say you look younger now than then, back then you looked a bit more podgy.” An outraged Charlotte responded: “Podgy? We’ll have words after this.” Former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star Melvin Odoom had been on the show with his showbiz roundup and the presenters had been discussing Mariah Carey’s tips on how she avoids ageing.

Charlotte was left shocked when Ed Balls made the remark live on air

And immediately after Ed had made the comment, Melvin jumped in to repeatedly tell Ed to ‘move on’ from the situation, adding: “I’m trying to help you, my brother.” Just before sending the programme to an advert break, Charlotte told viewers: “I’ll have a word with Ed. In the meantime, here’s Laura with the weather.”

But fans of ITV’s early news programme were quick to have their say about the savage comment, and flooded social media with their reaction. One said: “He’ll be up in front of the producers for that quip,” whilst another claimed: “Ed Balls is so cringy and awkward around women.”

A third viewer was equally shocked at Ed’s remark and tried to remind the former politician of the ‘irony’ within the situation as they wrote: “Did Ed really just say Charlotte looked fat when she was younger? Has he looked in the mirror lately? He’s so rude!”

The GMB presenters had been looking at a throwback clip of Charlotte on This Morning
In May this year, former Strictly Come Dancing star Charlotte, who previously fronted Sunrise alongside Eamonn Holmes, celebrated her milestone 50th birthday and fans were shocked upon learning her real age. During a Good Morning Britain broadcast, then-hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway stopped everything for a special bulletin. Kate excitedly announced: “Now, we do have some major breaking news about someone in this very studio.”

As she showered praise on her colleague, viewers were treated to nostalgic photos of Charlotte’s youth, including images of her with a teddy bear and beaming on horseback, with an amused Charlotte exclaiming: “Where did you get these from?!” Humorously pointing out her family’s ‘betrayal’, Kate chuckled at how they had sent in the snaps.

But it was an old video from early in Charlotte’s career that really caught Adil off-guard, leading him to jest: “What on earth? ! You look older there! You look 63!”.

Charlotte couldn’t help but laugh, confessing her attempts to look more ‘mature’ back then. The festive mood continued as Laura Tobin rolled in with a birthday cake trolley, right before Adil handed over a beautiful bouquet of flowers, reports Bristol Live.

As the celebrations drew to a close, Charlotte shared that her daughter keeps reminding her of turning half a century. Kate exclaimed: “Happy Birthday, Charlotte. I still can’t quite believe she’s 50. I think it’s a lie.”

Viewers rapidly flocked to Twitter to echo Kate’s astonishment, with many finding it hard to grasp that Charlotte is 50. One viewer commented: “Happy birthday Charlotte, you can see what a beautiful person you are inside and out 50? I will take some of what you are having.”

Another chimed in with: “Doesn’t look anywhere near 50,” and a third person gushed: “Happy 50th Birthday, Charlotte [sic] Are you sure? You look amazing. Enjoy your day.”

UNICEF ambassador David Beckham finally breaks silence on Gaza as he backs ceasefire!

Former footballer David Beckham has posted in support of UNICEF as he shared a post calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine after months of silence

David Beckham has finally addressed the conflict between Israel and Palestine after months of remaining silent. The football icon, 50, is an ambassador for UNICEF, who last year called for a ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages and launched an appeal for the children of Gaza.

He failed to share a post from UNICEF UK to his millions of followers about their flagship appeal in 2024. David was among the almost half of the organisation’s high profile supporters who hadn’t shared a post.

In March this year, the England sports star re-shared a post from UNICEF for the first time. Now, David has spoke out again after months of silence by sharing another graphic from the organisation.

David shared a post from UNICEF after months of silence(Image: davidbeckham/instagram)

In their post that David shared and liked, UNICEF said: “UNICEF welcomes the announcement by Israel to implement most urgently needed humanitarian pauses to increase access to deliver aid into and across Gaza.

“Since the collapse of the ceasefire in March, children have been trapped in a nightmare and deprived of the basics to survive. They are hungry, traumatized and have no safe place to go. The entire population of over 2 million people in Gaza is severely food insecure. One out of every three people has not eaten for days and 80 per cent of all reported deaths by starvation are children.

“This is an opportunity to begin to reverse this catastrophe and save lives.” It continued: “UNICEF has never stopped delivering. But we can do a lot more if additional designated humanitarian corridors are created to facilitate the movement of our convoys – as well as commercial trucks, which are essential. In July alone, UNICEF has managed to deliver 147 trucks inside Gaza with nutrition supplies, including baby food, milk and high-energy biscuits.

“We are ready to increase this number and ensure more life-saving aid enters Gaza at the required scale and bring hope to an exhausted population.

“UNICEF continues to call for a ceasefire, the unfettered access of humanitarian aid across Gaza, the protection of children, and the release of all hostages so they can return home to their loved ones.”

He previously shared a UNICEF message in March(Image: davidbeckham/instagram)

On his own post, David tagged UNICEF but added no further comment to his 88.3million followers. His previous silence prompted backlash over how he responded different to Gaza and Ukraine.

He handed over control of his Instagram account to a Ukrainian doctor working in the city of Kharkiv in March 2022, to highlight how Russia’s invasion was impacting the country’s pregnant women and children.

The same month, the football legend and his wife Victoria Beckham donated £1 million to a UNICEF appeal to support Ukrainian children affected by the devastating conflict.

David, who was a Qatar 2022 World Cup ambassador, has been accused of being less explicit regarding where he stands when it comes to the plight of Palestinian people.

Other celebrities who remained silent about UNICEF’s Protect Children in the Gaza crisis appeal included Robbie Williams, Tom Hiddleston, Cat Deeley, Charley Boorman, Claudia Schiffer, David Harewood, Lord David Puttnam, Emma Bunton, James Nesbitt, Jessie Ware and Martin Bell.

Olivia Coleman, Michael Sheen, Ewan McGregor, Gemma Chan, Jemima Khan, Levison Wood, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Sir Chris Hoy, Muzoon Almellehan, Sir Andy Murray, Suzy Eddie Izzard and Ramla Ali all called for a ceasefire.

    England Lionesses win Euros 2025

Last night saw the Lionesses retain their European crowns as they beat Spain on penalties. The victory was made all the sweeter considering the fact that Spain beat England in the World Cup final back in 2023.

The game finished 1-1, with Alessia Russo scoring England’s equaliser in the second half. Penalties proved to be another eventful experience for the Lionesses, with Hannah Hampton saving two, and Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles, and Chloe Kelly scoring theirs.

Last night’s win marks Sarina Weigman’s third successive Euros victory, having previously won the tournament with the Netherlands in 2017 and with England in 2022.

Chloe Kelly, who scored the deciding penalty, also shared a similar post on her story. The star, 27, was seen sitting on her husband Scott Moore‘s shoulders wearing a cowboy hat.

Ella’s boyfriend, Joe Bunney, shared various snaps and clips from the party that the England squad held afterwards.

He also shared a video of his girlfriend Ella, glass in hand, dancing to Freed From Desire, with her winners’ medal still around her neck.

Another clip showed the star singing Mountain High on karaoke.

Joe also shared a video of the party still going on at 4.10 am, with girlfriend Ella and her fellow players still singing and dancing. Unfortunately for Joe, he was then at the airport at 8.47am. Yuck!

Kelsey Parker supported as she jets off on holiday following death of baby Phoenix!

It’s been a tough few weeks for Kelsey

Kelsey Parker has been supported by fans after she shared a family holiday snap, weeks after tragically losing her baby.

In June, Kelsey announced she had lost the baby boy she was expecting with partner Will Lindsay. The star – who shares daughter Aurelia and son Bodhi with her late husband Tom Parker – shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram.

And at the weekend, after an incredibly tough time for the family-of-four, Kelsey revealed that they have taken a much-needed holiday.

Kelsey Parker shares holiday snap after death of baby Phoenix

On Sunday (July 27), Kelsey took to her Instagram and shared a photo her and her family on holiday.

Kelsey, boyfriend Will and her two children, Aurelia and Bodhi, were pictured looking out towards a mountain in the background.

She captioned the post: “Exactly what we needed Thank you @jet2pics for making it so easy. X.”

Fans rushed to the comments section to send Kelsey love. One person penned: “Enjoy your break away. My heart breaks for all of you. Life is so very cruel.”

Someone else added: “Sending so much love, strength and support to you all.” A third chimed in: “Spending precious time together. Love to you all.”

    Kelsey’s post hit with backlash

However, despite the support, Kelsey’s post was hit with some backlash when one person commented: “Nothing beats a jet2holiday,” referring to the company’s viral advert.

It appears that someone called that social media user “horrid” for their remark in a now-deleted comment.

Honestly, I just don’t understand some people.

A third agreed: “Honestly, I just don’t understand some people.”

Another also said: “How is it horrid? Your attitude is much more horrid than a silly little joke. Yes this family lost a baby, I’m sure they could do with a joke or two instead of people arguing in their comments. Read the room.”

Someone else penned: “Right it’s not horrid. If anything it might give Kelsey a little chuckle. Just calm down.”

    Kelsey’s baby loss

In June, Kelsey announced the sad news that the baby she was expecting with partner Will Lindsay had died.

Taking to Instagram, she shared the heartbreaking news with a poem, dedicated to their baby, whom they had named Phoenix.

“Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved,” the poem was titled.

“The world grew quiet as you arrived. So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light. Born with wings, took silent flight,” it read.

“We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth, and light. Though we never heard you cry, you’ll live in hearts that won’t ask why,” it then continued.

England are champions of Europe… again!

However, some fans still found reason to complain, with their ire aimed at England legend Alex Scott…

    Lionesses win Euro 2025

Last night saw the Lionesses make England proud once more by lifting the European Championships trophy for a second time.

They previously won it back in 2022, thanks to a Chloe Kelly goal against Germany.

It was Chloe Kelly, 27, who proved to be the difference again this time after she scored the winning penalty against Spain.

England had gone into the break 1-0 down after a goal from Spain’s Mariona Caldente. However, the Lionesses fought back, scoring an equaliser through Alessia Russo.

The game eventually went to penalties. England goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton, 24, saved two penalties, whilst Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles and Chloe Kelly all scored theirs, winning 3-1.

Alex Scott under fire from Lionesses fans

However, before all that happened, some fans were complaining.

Coverage of the final was shown on both BBC One and ITV1 – and viewers weren’t happy with the team fronting the BBC broadcast.

Gabby Logan fronted the final for the BBC, with former Lionesses Steph Houghton and Ellen White, as well as former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha, providing their expertise as pundits.

Meanwhile, Alex Scott was pitchside, where she interviewed a range of stars, including ex-England keeper Rachel Brown-Finnis, Fran Kirby and England legend Jill Scott.

After the game, Alex even shared a tearful interview with England captain (and her close friend) Leah Williamson.

Alex Scott slammed by Lionesses fans

However, upon learning that Alex was amongst the pundits on the BBC coverage, some fans switched over.

“Can’t listen to that Alex Scott talk football if she’s on there,” one viewer fumed.

“Not a very difficult decision to make, @ITV with @laura_woodsy @IanWright0 or the [bleep] that is @BBCSport and Alex Scott,” another said.

“Well done all at ITV, Laura Woods is peerless and the final line-up of Emma [Hayes], Caz [Karen Carney] and [Ian] Wrighty perfect much, much better than the awful Alex Scott and Salty Fara Williams on the Beeb,” a third wrote.

However, some viewers were enjoying Alex on punditry duty, with some growing emotional following her tearful chat with Leah.

“OH ALEX SCOTT STOP CRYING UR GONNA SET ME OFF AGAIN,” one viewer tweeted.

“Both of them tearing up [crying emoji],” another said.

“Alex Scott interviewing Michelle Agyemang is too much for me to handle right now,” a third wrote.

“Daily reminder that I love Alex Scott,” another added.

  • Sarina Wiegman defends royal family amid backlash over ‘unfortunate’ message to Lionesses!

Sarina Wiegman defends royal family amid backlash over ‘unfortunate’ message to Lionesses!

She insisted the blunder “would never, ever be intentional”

England Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman has dismissed criticism of the royal family and King Charles following an “unfortunate” message to the players.

The Lionesses beat Spain in yesterday (Sunday July 27) evening’s Women’s Euros final to retain the championship they won in 2022. Chloe Kelly dispatched the decisive strike in a climactic penalty shootout to conclude the tournament in Basel, Switzerland.

Furthermore, to add further prestige to the victory, Prince William and his daughter, Princess Charlotte, were in attendance to witness the moment in sporting history. But despite the royal association, there had previously been backlash online to the Lionesses having the backing of the monarch.

Did Princess Charlotte go to the Euro final?

On Sunday, the Prince of Wales was accompanied by his daughter Princess Charlotte for the momentous match at football venue St. Jakob-Park.

Pictures showed the young royal looking captivated by the thrilling action on the pitch as she sat with her father, Prince William.

While the sight of her elder brother, Prince George, going to games with their dad has happened several times, seeing Princess Charlotte at such a sporting occasion is a less regular occurrence. But fans were delighted to see it. They even hoped for more, suggesting she might help out in congratulating the players.

While that didn’t happen, the royals were still at the forefront of the minds of senior England staff. This included head coach Sarina. She offered her take on King Charles recently reaching out to the Lionesses.

Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman on royal family’s message of support

Sarina, tipped for an honorary Damehood for her achievements with the Lionesses, is said to have responded to reported reaction to a social media post ahead of the final attributed to King Charles.

I think the message from the royal family is that they really, really support us.

Last week, a post on X from the official royal family account wished the Lionesses all the best following their semi-final victory.

The post contained several images of England players, but did not include photos of the entire squad of players.

Some furious X users responding to the post were particularly put out by Michelle Agyemang, 19, not being included.

One person said: “Where is Agyemang?”

Another wrote: “That’s exactly my point. She played a crucial goal at quarter [finals].”

But Sarina has dismissed any suggestion that England’s young star player was left out on purpose.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Sunday’s final, she said: “I think that would never, ever be intentional.”

Sarina continued: “I think the message from the royal family is that they really, really support us. And we really appreciate that. They support every single player and staff member.

“It’s unfortunate that [she] is not on the picture. But there’s all good intentions.”

    King Charles congratulates the Lionesses

Meanwhile, King Charles has also offered his congratulations to the Lionesses after their spectacular triumph in the final. He said in a statement:  “For more years than I care to remember, England fans have sung that famous chant ‘football’s coming home’.

“As you return home with the trophy you won at Wembley three years ago, it is a source of great pride that, through sporting skill and awesome teamwork, the Lionesses have made those words ring true.

“For this, you have my whole family’s warmest appreciation and admiration.

“Well done, Lionesses. The next task is to bring home the World Cup in 2027 if you possibly can.”

Bonnie Blue documentary debate sparks Loose Women backlash: ‘No dilemma – it’s disgraceful’!

Bonnie Blue: 1,000 Men and Me is on tomorrow night…

The upcoming Bonnie Blue documentary was a hot topic of debate on Loose Women today (July 28), with the ladies on the panel clashing and viewers watching at home also infuriated.

Bonnie Blue: 1,000 Men and Me airs on Channel 4 tomorrow night (July 29). And, as a result, the film was up for discussion straight after a chat about England’s Lionesses winning the Euros last night…

Loose Women today – Bonnie Blue documentary debate backlash

Ruth Langsford anchored Loose Women today, with Frankie Bridge, Mariella Frostrup and Brenda Edwards completing the panel.

After discussing the Euros win, the ladies opened up a discussion about tomorrow night’s Bonnie Blue: 1,000 Men and Me documentary. A clip showing Bonnie and her mum speaking was shown. In the clip, the adult star’s mum said that she was unsure over her daughter’s controversial job at first. However, when she saw the money she was making, she changed her mind.

“Would you get your bits out, Brenda?” Ruth asked.

“No I wouldn’t get my bits out, and I kind of feel sorry for the whole family to be honest. The daughter thinking, oh because I’m making a million and I can give it to my mum and my dad and they’re alright now… No, if my daughter… No. You can’t use the word morals for me,” Brenda Edwards said.

“Everybody’s moral compass is different, though,” said Ruth, playing devil’s advocate. “Bonnie Blue herself, whatever people think of her, says I’m enjoying it, no one is coercing me.”

‘No question it’s doing her damage’n

Mariella then said that it’s a “tragic” situation as Bonnie is scared to go out now. Mariella also warned that eventually it’s going to “crash and burn”. “Money does not make you happy. There’s no question it’s doing her damage,” she said.

We’ve all lost our moral compass.

Ruth Langsford then tried to counter her argument, saying: “She still says…” before Mariella cut her off by butting in: “I don’t care about her. I’m talking about us…” Ruth countered, though: “You’re saying she couldn’t possibly be happy…” “I’m not saying that, I’m saying she’s said she’s scared to go out. But more than that I think it’s awful that we’re even talking about it today. It’s really a sad sad story and she’s getting loads of publicity for it and it just indicates that we’ve all lost our moral compass.”

Ruth, meanwhile, revealed she has mixed feelings about it. She explained that she’s a woman and isn’t being forced into her stunts and can do what she likes. Directing a question to Frankie, Ruth asked if it was a man doing it, would the reaction be different. Frankie didn’t get a chance to answer though, as Mariella interrupted again.

Eventually, Frankie told Ruth: “I get what you’re saying Ruth, if it was a man it would be a very different story.”

Mariella wasn’t done there, though. “The family are now on the payroll,” she said. “Disgraceful,” Brenda added. “Do it behind closed doors.”

Wrapping up the segment, Ruth said: “We love a moral dilemma on Loose Women, that’s what we’re all about.”

“No dilemma,” blasted Mariella, determined to have the last word.

    Viewers react

Both the segment and the ladies came under fire over the discussion.

“Going from women working hard to achieve something to one woman opening her legs for money!” blasted one.

“Is this worth talking about? The more we ignore this woman, more than likely disappear,” said another. “Why are they giving that woman airtime?” another agreed. “Who on earth is Bonnie Blue, and why is she getting airtime?” said another.

Others had more sympathy for Bonnie, saying: “I actually feel sorry for this young lady as the world we live in made her think this was okay to do to make money! What a shame!”

Others had Mariella in their sights.

“Mariella Frostrup is a deeply unpleasant woman,” said one. “Shut up Mariella, stop interrupting,” another urged. “Mariella loves the sound of her own voice,” said another.

Coleen Nolan’s heartbreak as she reveals ‘breaking point’ after son Shane’s secret drug battle!

    ‘He’s going to die’

Coleen Nolan has candidly opened up about her son Shane’s secret battle with drug addiction.

The TV star shares the 36-year-old singer with ex-husband Shane Richie. In 2023, Shane hit headlines amid claims he had cheated on his wife, Maddie Wahdan.

Shane and Maddie tied the knot in July 2022. However, in December 2023 it was reported that they had split.

And now, both Shane and Coleen have spoken out for the first time about his drug addiction, with Coleen revealing that Shane ‘messed up’ his marriage during his struggles.

Coleen Nolan on son’s drug addiction

In a recent video for Coleen’s YouTube channel, Coleen and Shane spoke about the latter’s drug addiction.

“It might be a great high for however long but you were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction,” Coleen said.

She added: “Relationships, you [bleep] your marriage basically.”

After his split from Maddie, Shane found love with his current girlfriend Kimberly Sallis. Earlier this month, they announced that they are expecting their first child together.

In the YouTube video, praising Kimberly for her support amid his addiction battle, Shane said in the video: “I think I’ve had to grow up. I’ve got a girlfriend who has helped me through it massively, we’re starting a family now.”

Shane ‘would have a three-day bender’

Shane also shared that a busy work schedule contributed to his addiction. He said: “The constant moving, the travelling all of the time, having to be on stage until 11 o’clock at night, so the only way to pick yourself up is to [do drugs].

“I’d have a three-day bender but I wasn’t [doing drugs] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It probably would have got to that. I was splitting up, I was going through a tough time work-wise, I didn’t know what I wanted to do.”

As for Coleen, she then recalled there was a “breaking point” before Shane was admitted to a rehab centre.

    ‘He’s going to die’

“I remember when the time came that you passed out and split your head open early in the morning. He split his head open and got eight staples, or whatever it is, in his head,” she told her son in the YouTube video.

The Loose Women star added: “That was my breaking point, if this doesn’t wake him up, he will… I kept saying: ‘He’s going to die.’”

Coleen continued: “From a mother’s point of view, I just felt I’d done something wrong. I really blamed me for all of it. People kept saying: ‘You have to talk to him, you have to do this,’ and I couldn’t. I thought, I’m really failing on all levels.

“So, when you split your head open, I thought the next call could be ‘He’s overdosed’. I just remember thinking, I’ve just failed him and I can’t take this pain away from him. If I could’ve taken it for myself I would’ve.”

Coleen then pointed out that with Shane now sober and a new baby on the way, they can finally relax.

“The difference for me now, is you’re just nicer to be around,” she told Shane before adding: “I didn’t dread you coming around, but I kind of did. I don’t know, it was horrible.”
