After Death, Robert Plant FINALLY Breaks Silence About Ozzy Osborne!

The Life and Legacy of Ozzy Osbourne: Unmasking the Prince of Darkness

Ozzy Osbourne, often called the “Prince of Darkness,” is a name that resonates deeply within the world of heavy metal music. Known for his raw energy, dark persona, and unparalleled musical contributions, Osbourne’s journey has been anything but easy. Beneath the intense performances and rebellious image lies a life filled with turmoil, addiction, and personal battles. Yet, despite the darkness that often clouded his path, Ozzy’s story is one of resilience, redemption, and undeniable influence on rock music.

Early Life: From Struggles to Stardom

John Michael Osbourne, later known as Ozzy, was born on December 3, 1948, in Marston, England. Raised in the working-class suburb of Ashton, Ozzy came from humble beginnings. His parents, Lillian, a factory worker, and John Thomas “Jack” Osbourne, a toolmaker, ensured that Ozzy and his siblings were provided for, even though their two-bedroom cottage was far from luxurious. Life wasn’t always easy, and Ozzy often found himself struggling with dyslexia, which made school a challenging environment.

However, despite these early challenges, Ozzy’s personality began to shine. He earned the nickname “Azie” from his neighborhood friends, and even though he often faced public ridicule for his speech impediments, he was determined to pursue his dreams. School plays like The Mikado and HMS Pinafore helped boost his confidence, but it was the arrival of The Beatles that truly set his heart on fire.

At just 14 years old, Ozzy discovered a passion for music that would change his life forever. Their 1963 hit “She Loves You” ignited something within him, and he soon realized that he was meant to be a musician. Though his school years were filled with struggles, his love for music remained steadfast.

Struggles and Setbacks: A Journey Through Darkness

Ozzy’s teenage years were far from typical. By the age of 11, he suffered horrific sexual abuse at the hands of school bullies. This traumatic experience nearly broke him, and he even considered suicide on several occasions. But Ozzy’s resilience shone through. Instead of succumbing to despair, he began to focus on his music, using it as a form of escape and self-expression.

In his early teens, Ozzy left school and entered the workforce, taking on various jobs such as a plumber, laborer, and toolmaker. However, the pressure to make ends meet pushed him into a dark path. At 17, Ozzy found himself committing a robbery, a crime for which he was arrested and sent to prison. This six-week stint in prison was a turning point for him, leading to a moment of self-reflection. Ozzy realized that he had yet to find his true purpose in life.

    The Birth of Black Sabbath

In 1967, Ozzy’s life took a fateful turn when he met Geezer Butler, a fellow musician who would become a lifelong friend. Together, they formed a band called Rare Breed, which later evolved into Earth. After some lineup changes, including the addition of guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, the band was renamed Black Sabbath in 1969. The name, inspired by a horror film, would soon become synonymous with heavy metal.

Black Sabbath’s music was unlike anything anyone had heard before. Their unique blend of heavy blues, dark lyrics, and ominous melodies set them apart from other bands of the time. Their self-titled debut album, Black Sabbath, released in 1970, shocked listeners with its raw intensity. The band’s subsequent albums, Paranoid and Master of Reality, solidified their place in music history. Despite early criticism, which labeled their music as simplistic or repetitive, Black Sabbath’s influence only grew stronger.

The Rise of Ozzy as a Solo Artist

While Black Sabbath’s success was undeniable, Ozzy’s time in the band was fraught with personal struggles. His battles with addiction, especially with alcohol and drugs, began to strain his relationships within the group. In 1979, Ozzy left the band to pursue a solo career, forming Blizzard of Oz and releasing the album Blizzard of Oz in 1980. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Ozzy, one that would elevate him to even greater heights.

His solo career was punctuated by the success of albums like Diary of a Madman and Speak of the Devil, both of which showcased his unique voice and musical vision. However, tragedy struck in 1982 when the band’s guitarist Randy Rhoads died in a plane crash, leaving Ozzy devastated. Though the incident led to a brief hiatus, Ozzy pressed on, eventually releasing No More Tears in 1991, which became one of his most successful albums.

Controversies and Criticism: The Dark Side of Fame

Despite his musical success, Ozzy’s life was riddled with controversy. His music, often characterized by dark and occult themes, led to accusations of promoting Satanism. One of the most infamous moments in his career occurred during a 1982 concert when he bit the head off a bat, believing it to be a rubber prop. This act, shocking to the public, only further fueled the rumors surrounding his alleged association with the occult.

Ozzy was also often in the headlines for his substance abuse. His struggles with addiction were well-documented, and many of his personal relationships suffered as a result. However, Ozzy never shied away from the public eye. His unrepentant attitude towards his image only solidified his status as a rock and roll icon.

    Health Struggles and Later Years

As Ozzy grew older, his health began to deteriorate. In 2003, he suffered a severe accident while riding his quad bike on his estate, which required multiple surgeries. Though he returned to music shortly after, his condition worsened, and in 2005, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Despite the toll his health took on him, Ozzy remained active in his music career and continued to perform, even as his condition worsened.

In 2020, Ozzy revealed that he was also battling emphysema, which compounded the challenges he faced. His health continued to decline, and in January 2023, he announced the cancellation of his No More Tour due to his ongoing struggles. By the time of his passing in 2025, Ozzy had become a shadow of his former self, his body ravaged by illness.

    The Legacy of Ozzy Osbourne

Despite the personal demons that Ozzy Osbourne battled throughout his life, his legacy as the godfather of heavy metal remains unquestioned. He revolutionized the music industry and paved the way for countless artists who followed in his footsteps. His unfiltered approach to life, his infectious energy, and his dedication to his music earned him the love and respect of millions of fans worldwide.

In his later years, many of Ozzy’s peers spoke out in defense of the man behind the music. Robert Plant, for instance, revealed the true depth of their friendship, calling Ozzy a “beautiful soul” who had an immense impact on the world of rock. Sam Carter, a fellow musician, echoed similar sentiments, remembering Ozzy as a compassionate individual who always cared for others.

Even after his death, Ozzy’s influence continues to shape the world of music. His willingness to embrace his dark side, his love for the Beatles, and his raw honesty have left an indelible mark on rock music. While some still view him through the lens of controversy, others see him for what he truly was: a man who loved music, who fought to overcome adversity, and who ultimately changed the face of rock and roll forever.

    Conclusion: Was Ozzy Osbourne Misunderstood?

The question remains: was Ozzy Osbourne the dark figure that the media and critics often portrayed him to be? The answer is more complex than simple labels can convey. Yes, his music often delved into dark themes, and his public persona was far from conventional. However, those who knew him best described him as a caring, passionate man with a deep love for music and a resilient spirit.

Ozzy Osbourne’s life was a testament to perseverance in the face of adversity. His journey from a bullied child to a heavy metal legend is a story of overcoming personal demons and finding redemption through music. While his image may have been shaped by controversy, his true legacy will always be his unparalleled contribution to the world of rock music.

Josie Gibson makes This Morning return

Today’s edition of This Morning saw Josie make a surprise return, alongside her son, Reggie.

The TV star fronted a segment titled “Summer of Fun”, where she showed viewers some of the trips and treats parents can do this summer with their children. In today’s segment, Josie and Reggie went to Longleat zoo as part of their summer holidays together.

In the pre-recorded segment, Reggie and Josie spent some time going around the zoo, looking at the various animals.

They even got to feed some giraffes, play at the carnival, and on a boat cruise with sealions. Reggie was even seen feeding them. Reggie also got the opportunity to feed lorikeet birds and got to go on a safari drive.

During her time at Longleat, Josie also interviewed some of the public about how they’re keeping their kids entertained this summer.

Viewers thrilled by Josie Gibson’s This Morning return

It’s safe to say that viewers were thrilled to see Josie make her This Morning comeback.

“Good to see Josie Gibson back on #ThisMorning. I hope she’s presenting at some point this summer,” one fan tweeted.

“Good to see Josie back. Been too long,” another wrote.

“Josies back [smiley face],” a third then wrote.

However, there were a couple of viewers who weren’t as enthusiastic to see the I’m A Celebrity star.

“Oh ffs now we are watching a #thismorning employee going to the [bleeping] zoo with her kid!” one viewer moaned.

“Free holiday for Josie’s kid,” another grumbled.

    Josie set for presenting return

Earlier this month, This Morning and ITV confirmed that Josie would be returning to present the show this summer during Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard’s absences.

Josie, along with Rochelle Humes, Sian Welby, Olivia Attwood, Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond, Craig Doyle, Joel Dommett, Andi Peters, Emma Willis, and Rylan Clark will all be presenting the show at various points this summer.

Viewers were thrilled at the time.

“Now there is something to look forward to. All will be well worth watching – yippee!” one fan tweeted.

“Well I can watch This Morning for this time again, after not being able to watch with Cat and Ben.. Sorry, just can’t take to them, but all the summer presenters I love. Look forward to watching again,” another wrote.

However, there were also some viewers who took the opportunity to complain.

“A long horrendous summer with loud, rude, screeching presenters. Such a shame as I used to love watching,” one moaned.

Lioness Hannah Hampton supported as she prepares for heartbreaking goodbye just days after Euros win!

    ‘It was hard’

Hannah Hampton had fans rallying around after she revealed she is set to attend a family funeral just days after the Lionesses’ win.

At the weekend, the Lionesses retained their European crowns as they beat Spain on penalties. However, shortly after Hannah shared that her beloved grandfather died a few days before the Euro’s 2025 began.

And on Thursday (July 31) Hannah appeared on GMB in her first live TV interview since the Lionesses’ winning moment. But things took an emotional turn when she opened up about her late grandad.

    Hannah Hampton on grandfather’s death

Hannah appeared on GMB this week and chatted to hosts Ed Balls and Kate Garraway.

Talking about the epic penalty shootouts in this year’s tournament, Hannah said: “Sometimes I say I don’t like it and sometimes I say I love it. I think the two penalty shootouts we had, I probably didn’t like it. We made it hard for ourselves, let’s be honest.

“I thought I’ve got to do my bit for the team and save a couple, but the first one against Sweden, it kept going on and on and on – we probably gave half the nation a heart attack.”

    Hannah reveals ‘it was hard’

Hannah then spoke about her beloved grandfather – who sadly did not live to see Hannah fulfil their shared dream of her playing England.

She said: “I remember speaking to him so many times about what we wanted to achieve as a group, and how proud he was.

“All of the time he wanted to come to my football games or watch it on the TV. He would be on the phone straight after. It was hard at the beginning. The girls helped me so much to get through it, and it was hard after games when you wanted to call home and wouldn’t hear his voice.”

    Hannah reveals grandad’s funeral date

Hannah added: “My whole point was to not put it out for sympathy. People don’t realise what goes on in people’s lives, so I don’t want people to keep giving all the hate comments and the abuse.

“You don’t know if people are already at a low point, and having that extra bit of fuel isn’t going to help them. People are entitled to their opinions, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a way that you can go about them in a nicer way.”

Ed then quizzed her: “And the funeral is tomorrow?”

Hannah replied: “Yeah. I’ll head back up to the Midlands this afternoon and be with family at the time for all of us to be together.”

Viewers watching GMB were quick to support Hannah and praise her for her achievements.

“What a lovely modest person Hannah Hampton is, hardest job in football,” said one person.

Someone else praised her: “Great to see Hannah Hampton on #gmb this morning.” A third chimed in: “Hannah Hampton definitely deserves to be recognised by the Palace!”

  • Good Morning Britain presenter Noel Phillips ‘axed’ amid ITV cuts!

Good Morning Britain presenter Noel Phillips ‘axed’ amid ITV cuts!

Hundreds of ITV workers are facing redundancy

Good Morning Britain correspondent Noel Phillips has been tipped to leave the ITV breakfast series amid upcoming changes at the broadcaster.

It was reported in May that cuts are expected, mostly affecting scheduling and production on daytime shows GMB, Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women. According to reports, around half of the 450 employees likely to face redundancy could be laid off.

However, it has been reported today (Thursday July 31) that GMB’s Noel – based in New York – may be moving on after four years on the programme.

Good Morning Britain ‘axe’ for Noel Phillips?

Deadline reports: “Noel is among those expected to leave, though the consultation process remains ongoing.”

Furthermore, it is claimed his possible exit has “sparked concern internally” about GMB’s diversity within on air personalities.

US correspondent Noel has fronted coverage of unrest in Los Angeles relating to immigration arrests in recent months.

Back in June he told viewers he’d received medical treatment after he found himself “in the line of fire”.

Noel shared at the time: “I felt as though an enormous ton of bricks had fallen on my arm. I realised, within about 20 to 30 seconds, that a rubber bullet had grazed the top layer of my skin and had caused a bit of injury.”

Royal Television Society award-winner Noel added: “My arm was swollen. I went to the doctors, got it checked out. It wasn’t broken at all. But it was swollen. It still is swollen. And it’s in a bandage at the moment.”

Noel was also in close proximity to gunfire in the US when he reported on protests in Minneapolis after the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright by police officer Kim Potter in 2021.

    Reaction to GMB star ‘departure’

An insider is quoted as telling Deadline that staff were “[blank]ed off” about Noel possibly leaving.

Another unnamed person is said to have said there had been “a mood change in TV” due to increased populism. They are reported to have claimed there is “less pressure [on ITV] to be seen to be doing the right thing” on diversity.

Deadline also reported Adil Ray will remain part of GMB’s on-air team, despite speculation from some news outlets that he might depart.

Additionally, an ITV spokesperson reportedly said: “In 2026, Good Morning Britain will continue to have the familiar line-up of presenters that we know viewers love. ITV is fully committed to our diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy. The representation on our shows will remain a priority.”

ED! approached a representative for Good Morning Britain for comment.

Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter ‘reveals’ which panellists are safe on show amid brutal ITV cuts!

There are some big changes being made to the show next year

Loose Women stalwart Janet Street-Porter has seemingly revealed which panelists on the show are going to be safe amid ITV’s cuts.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Loose Women would be cut down dramatically from 2026 onwards.

Loose Women subject to ITV cuts

Back in May, ITV announced some major changes to its daytime shows, which will be taking effect from 2026 onwards.

The broadcaster revealed that Lorraine and Loose Women will no longer be broadcast 52 weeks a year. Instead, they will only be airing seasonally for 30 weeks a year.

“I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off-screen in our Daytime production teams. And we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition,” Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, Kevin Lygo, said.

Thanks to the changes, Loose Women will be airing 100 fewer episodes per year from 2026 onwards. This has led to some of the cast being concerned they’ll get less work going forward.

According to The Sun, some of the more experienced cast members are concerned that they will be “scrambling” for shifts, whilst younger, “PR friendly” cast members such as Frankie Bridge, GK Barry, and Olivia Attwood get booked.

However, Janet has now claimed that it’ll be the more experienced cast members who will be getting shifts, whilst the younger cast members are now facing the axe.

“There are no plans to get rid of the older women, despite of what some people have said. In fact, the reserve is true,” she told Bella magazine.

“ITV actually put out a statement saying we are the valued members of the show because the audience totally relates to us,” she then continued.

‘The audience totally relates to us’

“I think Loose Women has become a programme that is trusted by a lot of women because we talk about the issues that they are concerned about – whether it’s female health, domestic violence, or how politicians don’t really understand working women. I think the show has managed to connect women who wouldn’t otherwise have a voice. And it’s delivered with a lot of laughs because we don’t take ourselves too seriously,” she then added.

Janet has been on the show since 2011, guest-presenting the show on various occasions too.

ED! has contacted ITV for comment.

  • Ozzy Osbourne fans deeply moved by wife Sharon’s subtle tribute during funeral procession!

Ozzy Osbourne fans deeply moved by wife Sharon’s subtle tribute during funeral procession!

    Did you spot this?

Fans of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne were left sobbing as they spotted a subtle tribute from his wife Sharon Osbourne during yesterday’s funeral procession.

Ozzy died last week aged 76, just weeks after his final farewell gig. And on Wednesday (July 30) afternoon, the Black Sabbath star’s relatives came together for his funeral, to honour his memory in his home city with devoted supporters.

Fellow mourners also reflected on the “heartbreaking scene” in Birmingham’s Broad Street on social media as they realised how the rocker’s widow Sharon Osbourne was commemorating her iconic husband.

Sharon Osbourne at Ozzy Osbourne funeral

Ahead of a private funeral in Buckinghamshire, Ozzy’s coffin was driven through streets in central Birmingham.

Sharon and Ozzy’s children – Jack Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, and Aimee Osbourne – as well Louis Osbourne, Ozzy’s son from his previous marriage, were in attendance to observe floral tributes left for their dad at Black Sabbath Bridge.

A weeping Sharon was supported by her kids as she laid a white rose wrapped in black paper herself.

The group also hailed the crowd and flashed double peace signs before departing Broad Street.

    Sharon’s subtle tribute

As well has harkening back to the double peace sign associated with Ozzy, the family also made other nods to the Paranoid and War Pigs star.

Kelly wore her dad’s purple-tinted round lens sunglasses – and Jack wore a small silver cross pin similar to Ozzy’s signature pendant on the end of his tie.

Aimee had a bat brooch pinned to her blazer, and Louis wore a purple tie featuring a skull and crossbones.

But Sharon’s tribute was even more personal to the man behind Ozzy’s wild public persona, as she had on a necklace threaded through the Sabbath front man’s wedding ring.

The distinctive piece of jewellery – which he reportedly wore following their 2017 wedding vows renewal – was immediately noticed by fans.

    How fans reacted

“Seeing Ozzy’s ring around Sharon’s neck has me on the verge of tears,” one touched onlooker admitted on X.

Another grieving fan wrote: “Been crying all morning. Sharon wearing Ozzy’s ring around her neck got me.”

A third pondered: “Did Sharon wear his ring and chain, and Kelly wear his sunnies? Such a heartbreaking scene.”

While a fourth reflected: “Sharon wearing Ozzy’s wedding ring around her neck and Kelly wearing his trademark purple glasses while both weeping was enough to make a grown man cry.”

A quiet powerful way to carry him with them one last time.

“Sharon is wearing Ozzy’s ring,” noted another fan. And someone else put it: “Sharon, Aimee, Jack, Kelly each wore a piece of Ozzy’s jewellery to his funeral procession. His wedding ring, cross necklaces, and bat brooch. A quiet powerful way to carry him with them one last time.”

    RIP Ozzy Osbourne.

  • Yuki Tsunoda Talks Red Bull Future: What’s Really Going On as 2025 Problems Persist? After months of speculation, the Japanese driver finally speaks out about his future with the iconic team, revealing shocking details about his ongoing struggles and the uncertainty surrounding his position in 2025.

Yuki Tsunoda Talks Red Bull Future: What’s Really Going On as 2025 Problems Persist? After months of speculation, the Japanese driver finally speaks out about his future with the iconic team, revealing shocking details about his ongoing struggles and the uncertainty surrounding his position in 2025.

Yuki Tsunoda’s nightmare at Red Bull continued at the Belgian Grand Prix as he finished outside the points for the sixth race in a row.

Since replacing Liam Lawson just two races into 2025, the Japanese driver has scored seven points in the second RB21. His performances have put Red Bull considerably behind McLaren in the constructors’ championship, with Ferrari and Mercedes also pulling away.

The arrival of Laurent Mekies as team principal could be what the 25-year-old needs, after Christian Horner seemed to offer little help toward the second car. The Frenchman knows Tsunoda well from his time at Racing Bulls, where he had been making regular Q3 appearances before his promotion.

Mekies smiled at Tsunoda at Spa as he made it to Q3 with Red Bull, qualifying in P7. It was hoped it would mark a turnaround in form, with Nico Rosberg noting Tsunoda no longer feels alone at Red Bull after Horner’s exit, but it was not to be.

He fell backwards at the Belgian Grand Prix as he could only manage P13, after running in the points for a large part of the race. F1 fans accused Red Bull of sabotaging Tsunoda as he was forced into another pit stop due to tyre wear issues, with Mekies stating that he was called in too late.

Yuki Tsunoda says it would be ‘not true’ if he said he was not worried about his F1 future

His struggles have prompted speculation about his future not just with Red Bull, but F1 in general. Tsunoda will finish the season with Red Bull, but with his contract up in 2025, it is not clear where he will be come 2026.

Tsunoda reportedly has an ‘almost 0%’ chance of staying on the grid next season. The Japanese driver says he is focusing on his driving in 2025, but has admitted that he is worried about his future as he risks dropping off the grid.

He said via The Inside Track: “Yeah, I kind of got used to this kind of situation. Like I say, it’s rumours. The only thing you can do is perform and you have to show [it] on the track.

“So, in the end, I just focus on what I can control and those things that you can’t control, leave it to them.

“I mean, if I say I’m not worried, it’s not true. But it’s up to them what they decide.

“It’s good to have some options. If you have options, that would be great, and for me, I’m just only [putting] sole focus into the driving.”

What are Yuki Tsunoda’s options for the 2026 F1 season?

Unless Tsunoda can produce some outstanding results after the summer break, it is hard to imagine that he will stay with the Red Bull setup. Isack Hadjar is being tipped to partner with Max Verstappen in 2026, while Lawson is set to stay at Racing Bulls, with Arvid Lindblad being backed to join him.

F1 fans think Tsunoda’s ‘best hope’ is Aston Martin, albeit as a reserve driver. The connections to Honda, who will supply their engines in 2026, give the move some sense, but Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll deny him a full-time race seat.

Tsunoda’s agent has been speaking to Cadillac over a potential deal. F1’s 11th team are yet to confirm their two drivers for their debut season in 2026.

Cadillac will be doing ‘cartwheels’ if Tsunoda is available for 2026. He would provide the team with experience and the 25-year-old is a fast driver, but he does face competition from veterans Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, who are the firm favourites to sign with the team.

  • Max Verstappen Rejects Mercedes: The Bold Move Red Bull Used to Keep Him & Helmut Marko’s Inside Role Revealed!

Max Verstappen Rejects Mercedes: The Bold Move Red Bull Used to Keep Him & Helmut Marko’s Inside Role Revealed!

F1 Oversteer understands that Red Bull have now informed star driver Max Verstappen that fundamental changes made to the team were done in an effort to stop him leaving this season.

Max Verstappen has been at the centre of the Formula 1 driver market throughout the 2025 season.

It quickly became clear that Red Bull had been unable to use the winter break to bridge the gap to constructors’ champions McLaren.

Verstappen’s victories at Suzuka and Imola were the outliers rather than the norm, and after the Belgian Grand Prix, the Dutchman now sits 81 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri.

Mathematically, Verstappen still has plenty of time to bridge that gap, but realistically, it appears to be almost impossible for the 27-year-old to match Michael Schumacher’s record of winning five consecutive titles.

This led to Verstappen being linked with a move to Mercedes, with both of their drivers out of contract for 2026.

Whispers in the paddock suggest Mercedes could have the best power unit next year, but the situation at Red Bull has evolved over the past few weeks, leading to a situation where it now looks more and more likely that Verstappen will stay for at least one more year.

Red Bull tell Max Verstappen they made Christian Horner change for his future

After the British Grand Prix, Red Bull removed Christian Horner as team principal and replaced him with Racing Bulls team principal, Laurent Mekies.

Communications chief Paul Smith and marketing boss Oliver Hughes were close allies of Horner and also left Red Bull when the team principal was removed from his position as team principal.

F1 Oversteer understands that Max Verstappen has been told by Red Bull that these changes were made with him in mind.

They want to make sure the atmosphere within the team is focused on improvement without the distraction of tensions between Horner and Verstappen’s camp.

It’s also understood by F1 Oversteer that chief advisor Helmut Marko has informed Verstappen that he should stay.

Marko is very influential to Verstappen, having been the person who plucked him from junior single-seater racing to drive for Toro Rosso as a 17-year-old.

F1 Oversteer believes that Marko’s message to Verstappen that he should remain at Red Bull for next season has played a big part in his thinking.

How the Formula 1 driver market could shake out as Max Verstappen looks set to stay at Red Bull

There were previous suggestions that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff didn’t push that hard to sign Verstappen this year, with his focus on potentially trying to sign the 27-year-old for 2027.

Verstappen’s get-out clause expired after the Belgian Grand Prix, with George Russell unable to catch him before the upcoming summer break.

The Dutchman may never publicly announce that he’s staying at Red Bull, as his current deal runs until 2028.

However, it does mean that Russell’s expected contract renewal can be confirmed shortly, and it’s likely that Kimi Antonelli will secure at least another year at Mercedes alongside him.

The only seats still to be decided once this portion of the F1 driver market is confirmed are at Cadillac, Racing Bulls, Alpine and in the second seat next to Verstappen.

Those decisions are unlikely to be made in the summer break, especially as Franco Colapinto’s position alongside Pierre Gasly comes under increasing pressure.

Is Red Bull in Crisis? VERSTAPPEN Opens Up About Losing Control and What It Means for His Future at the Team.

Red Bull Racing’s Internal Power Struggle: Max Verstappen vs. Laurent Mikis

Formula 1 often celebrates the dramatic moments on track – the overtakes, the podium finishes, the fierce rivalries. However, some of the most pivotal moments in a team’s journey unfold behind the scenes. One such moment is currently shaping the future of one of F1’s most dominant teams, Red Bull Racing. Following the Belgian Grand Prix, tensions boiled over inside the team, marking the beginning of a seismic shift in power. This power struggle has drawn a stark line between Max Verstappen, the team’s superstar driver, and Laurent Mikis, the newly appointed CEO of Red Bull Racing.

This article delves deep into this internal battle, exploring the reasons behind the growing tensions, the motivations of the key players involved, and the potential ramifications for the team’s future. We will look at how Mikis’ arrival, the restructuring of Red Bull, and Verstappen’s response could reshape the landscape of F1, both on and off the track.

The Tension at Spa: The Beginning of a Power Shift

While Max Verstappen celebrated another strong result at the Belgian Grand Prix, the mood within Red Bull Racing’s garage was anything but celebratory. The post-race debrief saw Max storming out, a rare sight for a driver typically known for his composure. According to insiders, the catalyst for Verstappen’s outburst was a palpable shift in power dynamics within the team. The introduction of Laurent Mikis, a former Ferrari deputy who took the helm at Red Bull Racing, marked a clear break from the team’s previous structure.

Sources claim that Mikis wasted no time asserting his authority. Within days of the Belgian Grand Prix, Red Bull’s internal structure was revamped, with Mikis overseeing a major organizational shift. This was not a simple rearranging of staff or processes – it was a complete overhaul of the team’s hierarchy. Verstappen, who had enjoyed significant influence within the team, was suddenly sidelined. What had once been a driver-centric operation was now becoming a corporate-controlled entity.

The Role of Max Verstappen in Red Bull Racing

For years, Max Verstappen has been the face of Red Bull Racing. His dominance on the track was matched by his growing influence off it. Verstappen, along with his father Jos, had a direct say in many of the team’s decisions. From car setups to internal hires, Verstappen’s influence was undeniably vast. This control was not just reserved for technical matters but extended to the day-to-day running of the team. It was said that Verstappen’s voice carried significant weight, perhaps even more than that of Christian Horner, the team principal.

However, with Mikis now at the helm, that influence is rapidly diminishing. Insiders reveal that Mikis has completely reorganized the power structure, reducing Verstappen’s role in key decisions. The immediate impact of this restructuring was felt during the spa debrief. Max’s heated exchange with senior engineers wasn’t about race strategy or car setup – it was about power. Verstappen, frustrated by the erosion of his influence, demanded clarity on who was really in charge of the team. The lack of a satisfactory response left Verstappen feeling isolated and alienated.

    The Confrontation: Max vs. Mikis

Following the intense debrief at Spa, Verstappen sought a direct confrontation with Laurent Mikis. Just three days after the race, Verstappen demanded a face-to-face meeting with the new CEO. The purpose of the meeting was clear: Verstappen wanted his power back. He reportedly insisted that he should be consulted on all car development decisions, seeking to restore his previous level of influence.

However, Mikis stood firm and refused to reinstate Verstappen’s previous privileges. According to reports, this was the moment when the power struggle escalated into an all-out confrontation. Verstappen, frustrated by Mikis’ refusal, pushed hard for his demands, but the new CEO’s resistance was unwavering.

This clash between Verstappen and Mikis is indicative of a deeper strategic shift within Red Bull. Mikis’ approach is more corporate, more structured, and less influenced by the personality-driven leadership of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. Mikis is aiming to create a more corporate-style team, where the brand and the company come first, and individual drivers, no matter how talented, must fall in line.

The Repercussions for Christian Horner and Helmut Marko

Christian Horner, the long-standing face of Red Bull Racing, has found himself in a precarious position. Historically, Horner has been seen as the undisputed leader of Red Bull, managing the team’s narrative and its direction. However, insiders suggest that Horner’s power has been significantly reduced under Mikis’ leadership. While he still holds the title of team principal, some sources describe him as more of a figurehead, with Mikis now calling the shots operationally.

Helmut Marko, who has long been Verstappen’s biggest supporter and a central figure in Red Bull’s decision-making process, is also feeling the impact of Mikis’ arrival. Sources claim that Mikis has directly instructed Marko to step back from the internal politics, leaving Verstappen without his closest ally within the team. This move has reportedly left Verstappen feeling even more isolated, as his core support structure is being dismantled piece by piece.

The Influence of the Verstappen Camp

The Verstappen family’s influence at Red Bull was not just about Max’s on-track performances; it was about the strategic direction of the team as well. Verstappen and his father Jos had a significant role in shaping not only car setups but also the team’s personnel decisions. This level of influence was unprecedented in F1, and it made Verstappen a unique figure in the sport. However, Mikis is now working to remove this influence, with Red Bull moving toward a more corporate, top-down approach.

This shift has not gone unnoticed within the team. Sources indicate that Verstappen’s engineers, particularly those closest to him, were reassigned shortly after the Belgian Grand Prix. This is a classic power move – isolating the star driver by removing those who support him and ensuring that loyalty to the new leadership is prioritized.

The Future of Max Verstappen: Is a Move to Mercedes Possible?

Amidst all of this turmoil, one key question looms: What does the future hold for Max Verstappen? While the Dutch driver is under contract with Red Bull for several more years, there are whispers that his long-term future at the team could be in jeopardy. His manager was spotted near the Mercedes paddock at Spa, sparking rumors of a potential move to the German team. With Lewis Hamilton’s future uncertain and Mercedes needing a new star driver, could Verstappen make the switch?

A move to Mercedes would be a monumental shift in the F1 landscape. Not only would it be a direct challenge to Red Bull’s dominance, but it would also give Verstappen the opportunity to become the undisputed leader of a team once again. Red Bull’s internal struggles may have pushed Verstappen to the brink, making a move to Mercedes increasingly likely.

The Corporate Reset: Red Bull’s Gamble

Red Bull Racing’s corporate reset under Laurent Mikis is a bold gamble. The team is betting that it can maintain its dominance without the level of driver-centric focus that has characterized its recent success. By reasserting control over its internal structure and sidelining Verstappen’s influence, Mikis is positioning Red Bull as a more corporate, professional outfit. However, this comes at the cost of alienating their star driver, potentially causing irreparable damage to team cohesion.

If Red Bull’s gamble pays off, it could lead to even greater stability and continued success. However, if Verstappen’s frustration boils over and leads to a public clash, it could destabilize the team and cause a rift that affects its performance on the track.

Conclusion: The Future of Red Bull Racing

The current power struggle at Red Bull Racing is far from over. With Laurent Mikis now in control and Max Verstappen’s influence waning, the team faces a critical juncture in its history. The internal tensions could either strengthen Red Bull, pushing it to new heights, or tear the team apart, leading to a fractured operation. As the 2026 season approaches, the outcome of this internal battle will have far-reaching consequences not just for Red Bull, but for the entire F1 grid. Will the corporate reset lead to more success, or will Max Verstappen decide he’s had enough and seek a new challenge? Only time will tell.

Ferrari’s massive F1 upgrade was expected to be a game-changer, but even with the latest improvements, the team is still struggling to make a real impact. Why isn’t this upgrade enough, and what could be the real problem hindering their performance on the track?

Ferrari’s Second-Stage F1 Upgrade: Moving Closer, But Still Not Enough

The 2025 Formula 1 season has been a roller-coaster for Scuderia Ferrari. With some highs and numerous lows, the team has struggled to close the gap to the dominant Red Bull. However, after the introduction of their second-phase upgrade, Ferrari seems to have regained some ground, securing its position as McLaren’s closest rival in the constructor standings. Despite this progress, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc remains cautious about their ability to challenge for victories in the second half of the season.

    Ferrari’s Upgraded Package

At the Belgian Grand Prix, Ferrari introduced a new suspension system featuring a revised geometry and a modified central damper. These changes are designed to enhance platform control and allow the team to run the car at lower ride heights, which had initially been part of the car’s design before adjustments were made following the plankware disqualification of Lewis Hamilton in China. This modification is critical in addressing the limitations Ferrari faced earlier in the season when car setup and ride height compromises prevented optimal performance.

In addition to the suspension update, Ferrari also implemented a floor upgrade at the Austrian Grand Prix. These enhancements are viewed as Ferrari’s attempt to recover from earlier setbacks and elevate their competitiveness for the second half of 2025. The modifications were seen as a step forward in a season that, despite improvements, still leaves Ferrari with a lot of ground to cover in the quest for race wins.

    Charles Leclerc’s Reaction: Cautiously Optimistic

After securing his fifth podium of the season at Spa, Leclerc acknowledged the improvements brought by the upgrade but was quick to temper expectations. During qualifying at Spa, he was pleasantly surprised by the car’s performance, finding himself ahead of Max Verstappen and only 0.3 seconds behind Lando Norris’ pole position time. However, Leclerc stressed the fine margins of the improvements, stating, “It was a step in the right direction, but it was very fine differences over a whole lap.”

The upgrade, according to speculation, might only offer a small gain of around a tenth of a second per lap, but it is the flexibility that it provides Ferrari in terms of setup adjustments that could make the real difference. Leclerc noted that the improved suspension setup allowed him to push harder, producing the kind of performances Ferrari and its drivers have been yearning for. However, despite the improved performance, Leclerc also made it clear that Ferrari’s current position is still far from where they need to be if they are to consistently challenge the likes of McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes. “We are all aware that this is not enough,” he admitted.

While Ferrari is now comfortably settled in second place in the constructor standings, it still struggles to keep up with the top teams. The new suspension is only a part of the puzzle, and Ferrari’s rivals continue to bring new upgrades, which keeps moving the goalposts for the Scuderia.

The Ongoing Struggles of Lewis Hamilton

Leclerc’s teammate, Lewis Hamilton, has had a less consistent experience with the upgrades. Although he was able to make significant progress in the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton’s qualifying performance left much to be desired. After a shock Q1 elimination in both the Sprint and Grand Prix qualifying sessions, Hamilton’s race was compromised. He blamed his difficulties on a new braking system introduced by Ferrari, which he struggled to adjust to over the weekend.

Hamilton’s experience underscores the challenge of fine-tuning a car in the middle of a season. Ferrari has been working on modifications to both its suspension and braking systems, but these changes have created some teething problems. Hamilton’s issues were compounded by weather conditions and contrasting race circumstances compared to Leclerc, which made it difficult to assess the full benefit of the upgrade package.

Hamilton was quick to point out that, despite the issues, Ferrari’s progress is evident. “The tricky spa weekend would be easy to put behind me,” Hamilton said. “I actually feel confident about our progress.” Before Spa, Hamilton had outqualified Leclerc in three of the past four races, and his form in the wet conditions at Silverstone showed his potential in a well-balanced car. However, his frustration at Spa, where qualifying mistakes cost him valuable points, shows just how much Ferrari still needs to improve.

Behind the Scenes: Development and Team Reshuffles

Ferrari’s efforts have not only been focused on track performance. The team has also been working behind the scenes, with significant changes in its engineering team. Hamilton, for example, has been vocal about changes in Ferrari’s structure, including the appointment of a new performance engineer to work with him. Although Ferrari has not disclosed the identity of this new engineer, it’s believed that this person was promoted from another role within the team and has worked with Hamilton in the past, likely during their time together at Mercedes.

This reshuffling is indicative of Ferrari’s ongoing efforts to optimize its operations, but it also highlights some of the challenges the team faces in implementing change mid-season. Hamilton has acknowledged the steep learning curve that comes with switching engineers mid-year, and the changes to the braking system have added another layer of complexity.

Hamilton’s critical feedback following the Belgian Grand Prix also reveals that, while the new upgrades show promise, they are far from perfect. “The rear end of the car still isn’t where it needs to be,” he stated. Yet, despite these setbacks, Hamilton remains optimistic, believing that the issues they are facing are part of a longer-term development plan.

Ferrari’s Long-Term Aspirations: Crunch Time for Hamilton

For Hamilton, the pressure is mounting. At 40 years old, the clock is ticking, and he is fully aware that he has limited seasons left in Formula 1. He is determined not to repeat the experiences of past Ferrari champions like Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, both of whom spent significant time at Ferrari but left without winning a championship despite numerous race victories. Hamilton has been actively involved in discussions with Ferrari’s leadership, sharing his insights on car development and team structure.

The team’s upcoming decisions are crucial for Hamilton, who is aiming to secure at least one title during his time at Ferrari. His extensive experience in the sport, coupled with his ongoing development work, means that he could be the catalyst for Ferrari’s rise if the team can fine-tune its approach. But this is now “crunch time,” as Hamilton himself put it. His chances of success with Ferrari rest on how well the team can harness the full potential of its upgrades, improve consistency, and remain competitive with the other teams vying for supremacy in 2025.

    Conclusion: Ferrari’s Path Forward

Ferrari’s recent upgrades show promise, but the team still has a long way to go if it hopes to challenge for victories in the second half of the 2025 season. While Charles Leclerc is starting to find more consistency, and Lewis Hamilton remains confident about the team’s progress, Ferrari’s position in the constructor standings still highlights the gap between them and the frontrunners.

The team’s cautious optimism is warranted, and the long-term focus on developing the 2026 car suggests that Ferrari is thinking beyond this season. However, the road to winning races—and ultimately a championship—remains challenging. Ferrari will need to continue to refine its upgrades, improve its car’s consistency, and ensure that its drivers can extract the maximum performance from it if they want to close the gap to the dominant teams like McLaren and Red Bull.

As we head into the second half of the season, Ferrari’s challenge is clear: they must consistently evolve, push their car to its limits, and take full advantage of every opportunity in their bid for a return to the top step of the podium.
