Grange Hill’s Zammo star reveals terrifying cancer scare after common symptom

Former Grange Hill star Lee MacDonald has revealed he’s to undergo a medical procedure to remove pre-cancerous cells after spotting a ‘little rash’ on his cheek

Grange Hill’s Zammo actor Lee MacDonald has revealed a terrifying cancer scare after spotting a “little rash”. The actor, 57, appeared on Good Morning Britain and revealed he will have the small mark on his cheek burnt off due to it having pre-cancerous cells.

Lee informed his social media followers that he had his first scare with the condition just last year after a similar blemish was discovered on his face. Following last year’s scare, Lee consulted his general practitioner due to a “little rash” on his cheek and was informed of the outcome.

“It’s a keratosis, which is a pre-cancerous spot, so I’m going to have it burnt out,” he said, before revealing the small spot could turn into cancer if left untreated. He encouraged viewers to concentrate on skincare, including wearing sunscreen and “looking at blemishes” on the face.

He commented: “It was just on the back of going to get it checked out.” However, it is a condition which runs in the family. Lee explained to anchors Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley that his father was a driver and would sit with his arm out of the car window, with his mum expressing her concerns.

“Later in life, he had a skin cancer from that arm,” he said. Richard also explained that it’s a common form of cancer for lorry drivers across the United States, who rest their arms on the windows of vehicles. “It’s really common in America, they do these huge long distances on the highway, with one elbow out of the window.”

Lee recalled using sunbeds in his earlier years before heading out on a night out, explaining he would lie on the sunbed for an hour each week, split between a Tuesday and Thursday, between the ages of 17 and 26.

“That’s what the doctor said, it probably is, it’s probably the sunbeds and not sunlight, because I don’t like the sun that much because of being aware of the risks.”

Now, when Lee goes fishing each weekend with his son, he is frequently topping up his sunscreen, even on cloudy days. “Funnily enough, I got told off by his step-mum because he was burnt – it wasn’t even that sunny,” he said, adding: “The rays were coming through. Yeah, cover-up.”

And despite speculation about a possible Grange Hill return, Lee revealed that he hadn’t heard anything official. “There’s been a few whispers in the background,” he revealed, before adding: “It’s still in the background. I would definitely be up for that, absolutely.”

Although Lee left the programme in 1987, he is often stopped in the street with people calling him by his characters name. “I love it, I had such a good time doing it,” he said.

‘Deal or no deal?’ Noel Edmonds proposes to wife so they can marry fifth time

Noel Edmonds first married wife Liz in 2009, but there have been several ceremonies since, and now he wants to do it again at their New Zealand home…

TV icon Noel Edmonds has proposed to his wife so they can get married for the fifth time, popping the romantic question: “Deal or no deal?” The loved-up couple just need Mr Blobby to turn up as the Best Man and this could be the most iconic wedding ever. Noel, who has been divorced twice, met Liz Davies while she was working as his make-up artist when he hosted C4’s hit teatime game show Deal Or No Deal, and they got married – for the first time – 16 years ago in July 2009. Since then the couple have found themselves being married in random situations three more times, one of which Noel can’t even remember, and now he wants to marry again in their new Kiwi home.

Noel says: “We’ve been married a lot. We got married in a civil ceremony in the Cotswolds, then we went to our home in France and an Anglican minister who I knew very well came over and he was going to bless us and he did the whole thing again. So this became a bit of a joke with our friends. Oh yeah, we were filming on a cruise ship and the captain married us again. We’ve done four. But we want a Kiwi one. And there’s a compelling reason why we should get married again, in New Zealand. We own a chapel. So why wouldn’t we?”

The 76-year-old, who ruled the radio waves and Saturday night telly for decades, turned his back on showbiz in 2018 to move to New Zealand with 55-year-old Liz and start a business together in the quiet town of Ngatimoti. River Haven, with the strapline ‘Positively Together’, boasts a vineyard, coffee cart, general store, a wellness sanctuary, energy garden, a restaurant and pub, called The Bugger Inn, and, most importantly, a chapel. In scenes to be shown on Noel Edmonds’ Kiwi Adventure on ITV1, Noel shows groundsman Jason the rundown building.

Noel says: “I have a chapel. I acquired a chapel with the farm and as you can see, it is in desperate need of restoration. It’s a fly and wasp cemetery. But my project, starting early next year, is to restore it completely and then Liz and I will get married for the fifth time.” He adds: “The day I met Liz it changed my life forever.

We were never going to get married and then I took her to Russia for a little break, and when I went down on bended knee in -6 degrees in St Petersburg in the snow at Catherine Palace, luckily she said ‘Yes Noel, I will’. So to restore the chapel, to have all our friends here, somehow it’s a really important milestone on this journey we have here. Cor, I don’t half love Mrs Edmonds. I finally found what love really is.”

Noel says he's "found his paradise" since he moved to New Zealand

Cameras capture the big proposal, which happens when Noel and Liz have a romantic evening and are chatting in their outdoor jacuzzi. Noel says to Liz: “It makes me think of the three most wonderful things in my life. You’ll be pleased to know you’re at no.1, by some margin. Way down at no.2, helicopters. Nudging no. 2, topiary.”

Then, holding her hand, he says: “I’ve had an idea. We have never been married in New Zealand, our home. I propose that we restore the chapel on our farm and on our wedding anniversary, I want to walk you down the aisle of our own chapel and have the wonderful Russell, the local minister, marry us again. Deal or no deal?”

A completely stunned Liz asks: “Really?” before saying: “Go on then, alrighty.” Noel, ever the showman, then makes a comedy effort to go down on one knee as he says “Will you marry me?” while blowing bubbles half underwater. “How could I refuse?” says Liz, welling up as the couple kiss. “That’s something else to organise.” She adds: “He’s not scared of showing his emotions. He’s a big romantic, which I’m pleased about because after almost 20 years he still wants to marry me.”

*Noel Edmonds’ Kiwi Adventure concludes on Friday 11th July, ITV1 at 9pm. The series is available to stream on ITVX.

Strictly bosses don’t want former Royal butler Paul Burrell on the show as they worry about upsetting the Palace, insiders on the show claim

Strictly bosses have vetoed Paul Burrell appearing on Strictly Come Dancing – as they’re worried about upsetting Queen Camilla. Sources claim the former Royal butler has been mooted as a possible contestant over the last few years.

But execs fear it would land badly with the Palace and have dismissed the idea. A source told us: “They know how much Queen Camilla loves the show and would love for her to appear in the audience…..but they fear that Paul’s involvement would scupper that relationship.”

Burrell has previously faced accusations that he has cashed in on his relationship with the late Princess of Wales, which he has denied. But the BBC show does have strong links with the Palace.

Queen Camilla, who attends Silver Swans – classes for elderly ballet dancers run by the Royal Academy of Dance – has described herself as one of the show’s “greatest fans”.

She once told Strictly professional dancer Johannes Radebe ‘we all watch it’. Host Tess Daly’s husband Vernon Kay has previously talked of the ‘real friendship’ that has formed between his wife and Her Majesty, with the Queen even keen to know what goes on behind-the-scenes.

Kay, 51, said: “Camilla and Tess have a real friendship through it now. They don’t text, but we have mutual friends and messages come through. When they see each other, the Queen is always asking: ‘Who is your favourite?’ She wants to know the backstage gossip.

“It’s crazy to think of the King and Queen sat on the sofa with a brew watching your wife present Strictly.”

Camilla also hosted a palace tea party for Strictly where she danced with former professional Brendan Cole and also filmed a video message for the 2020 final, which was won by Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse.

Many pointed to the fact that Strictly hosts Claudia Winkleman and Daly were this month recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours. Winkleman, 53, and 56-year-old Daly have co-hosted the series since 2014.

Recently separated Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom joined Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez on their honeymoon cruise, appearing relaxed as they spent time together with their daughter Daisy

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom may have recently announced the end of their romantic relationship, but their latest public appearance tells a different story.

The former couple, who said they are now focusing on co-parenting their daughter Daisy Dove, have joined newlyweds Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez on what appears to be part of the couple’s honeymoon.

The Teenage Dream singer, 40, and the 48-year-old actor were seen on board Bezos’s luxury superyacht in the Mediterranean, accompanied by their four-year-old daughter.

Despite confirming they had decided to ‘shift’ their relationship to focus purely on parenting, Katy and Orlando appeared relaxed and happy to be spending time together as a family, in pictures obtained by Mail Online.

Their appearance on the yacht has drawn even more attention, not only because of the high-profile nature of the Bezos” honeymoon, but also due to the timing of their getaway following their split. Many expected the couple to be spending time apart following their separation, yet they seem to have chosen the opposite by joining a romantic trip.

Katy, who missed Bezos and Sanchez’s extravagant £48 million wedding in Venice while touring in Australia, may have been making up for lost time. Dressed in a black bikini, the Dark Horse singer looked at ease as she enjoyed the Italian coast and watched Orlando play affectionately with their daughter.

Orlando, for his part, seemed equally content as he was seen throwing Daisy into the air before catching her and kissing her on the cheek.

The actor had previously attended the wedding solo, where he was spotted socialising with a high-profile guest list including Tom Brady, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Sydney Sweeney. He was also seen chatting with a mystery woman during the celebrations which raised many an eyebrow.

Still, despite appearances at separate events and suggestions of moving on, their yacht trip suggests that Katy and Orlando continue to operate as a close-knit unit.

The former couple were engaged for six years before their split

Last week, the pair officially called it quits on their nine-year romance – six years after the Pirates of The Caribbean actor popped the question.

In a statement, their respective representatives declared: “Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

Before the official announcement, an insider had informed the magazine of their amicable split, stating: “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

Hints of trouble had appeared on Orlando’s Instagram stories on July 2, where he shared a poignant message from Carl Gustav Jung: “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself.”

Orlando proposed to Katy in 2019

This came shortly after a June 30 post quoting Buddha: “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most.” The signs of a separation were evident in Orlando’s posts before the official statement, and he turned up alone at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s nuptials.

Tour duties kept Katy Perry from attending the glitzy event. Days before, the 40-year-old delivered an emotionally charged performance in Adelaide, Australia, on June 30. Katy Perry broke down as she wrapped up her set, fighting back tears and creating a heart sign with her hands to express her affection for the crowd.

Grateful for their unwavering support, Katy told the audience: “Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world.” After regaining her composure, Katy burst into her renowned hit ‘Firework’.

Katy and Orlando’s love story began in 2016, endured a brief hiatus after a year, before rekindling flames in 2018. The power couple got engaged in 2019 and embraced parenthood with the arrival of Daisy Dove in 2020.

Gino D’Acampo blasted over ‘disturbing’ cooking video branded ‘highly inappropriate’

Under-fire 42-year-old TV chef Gino D’Acampo has angered fans by his treatment of live animals with one vowing to go vegetarian after watching his ‘upsetting’ video

TV chef Gino D’Acampo has provoked fury after uploading an ‘alarming’ cooking video involving two cute live quails.

Gino – battling allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour which has seen ITV drop the star – caused outrage with the clip on social media. Seen before he prepares a meal, the 42-year-old kisses the live creatures in the first shot after grabbing them tight. Then, in the follow up, the Italian dangles the animals’ corpses as Bob Marley’s song Three Little Birds plays, before plating up the cooked quails.

He captioned the video: “And that’s how it’s done!!!… Chargrilled Quails with zucchine and garlic vinaigrette. The perfect summer’s dish… Ask your butcher for quails, try it and let me know.” But his actions have enraged fans, who hit out the telly star for his treatment of the animals. MirrorOnline have approached Gino for his response to their response.

“I’m not a vegan, but this anthropocentric exhibitionism disgusts me,” one told him. Another hit out, saying: “Disturbing and upsetting. It’s like showing a cute puppy and then showing it euthanized.” A third person told the star: “I just feel numb and thinking now about becoming a vegetarian tbh.”

    Gino D'Acampo

The star took a step away from public life following allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour aimed at him – claims he strongly denies. As a result former This Morning host Gino was removed from ITV’s programming in February. ITV reported that dozens of former staff and freelancers made allegations about working with Gino, calling his behaviour over a reported 12 year period “unacceptable,” “distressing,” and “horrendous

Since the allegations, his shows have been pulled from ITV’s schedule. Gino, 48, “firmly denied” accusations of inappropriate behaviour including using sexualised and aggressive language over a period of 12 years made following an ITV News investigation, and it has been reported he is using his time to flog his property.

    Gino D'Acampo
The video was described as ‘disturbing and upsetting’(Image: Instagram/ @iamginodacampo)

He said the claims against him were “simply not in my nature”. Amid the reports, it was claimed Gordon Ramsay, his co-star in Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, had distanced himself from the presenter. But Gino insists they’re still firm friends. Now the Italian presenter has revealed plans to return to telly with a new travelogue, to be filmed later this year.

Responding to the claims in their entirety in a statement to ITV News, Gino said: “I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago. I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied.

    Gino D'Acampo
His uploaded ended with the animals on a plate(Image: Instagram/ @iamginodacampo)

“I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me. “Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, I have been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.

“I am a father, husband and have worked with well over 1,500 people on around 80 productions in my career, which I have been so proud of. I take such matters extremely seriously and the suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.”

Gino made some crass remarks in radio interview last week as he returns to spotlight. In sexualised comments about women’s bodies, he told show hosts that a “real man” wants women to have “things to grab”, while explaining that he prefers a curvier figure.

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have confessed to breaking Palace rules with a cheeky Meghan-inspired twerk and left King Charles laughing with an awkward etiquette blunder.

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo admit a mangling of royal etiquette overshadowed their meeting with King Charles after he was pictured chuckling at them during a private reception.

The former Made In Chelsea stars were received by his Majesty at Buckingham Palace in June, shortly before attending the annual King’s Trust Awards the following day. And they admit an initial faux-pas from Sophie, 30, prompted a subsequent photo in which King Charles appears to laugh at the couple while greeting a procession of guests at the special event.

The married couple filmed themselves recreating Harry and Meghan’s famous ‘Baby Mama’ twerk in the heart of the royal residence but the playful video came as a breach of Palace rules as guests were asked not to use their cameras inside Buckingham Palace during the star-studded King’s Trust event.

Which sparked a social media storm by appearing to poke fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s notorious pregnancy twerk video during their trip to the Palace.

They raised eyebrows by cheekily filmed themselves on the Grand Staircase at the Palace, which has been traversed by Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses.

Seemingly channeling the Royal couple, Jamie wrote: ‘They said we couldn’t film in Buckingham Palace.’

While the moment was a breach in protocol and could have sparked a royal meltdown, palace aides fortunately found the funny side. On its official Instagram account ‘theroyalfamily’ replied to the post, adding: ‘We see you’ accompanied by a pair of eyes and a wink emojis. The King’s Trust entered the conversation in the spirit of the occasion with the quip: ‘All of our attendees are very well behaved.’

Discussing her gaffe on the latest episode of their Nearly Parents podcast, an amused Jamie, 36, recalled how his pregnant wife had overlooked Royal etiquette by repeatedly shooting her hand out in an unsuccessful attempt to greet the Monarch.

‘When you meet the King, you slightly bow your head, or you curtsy, then you hold your hand out and call him Sir afterwards,’ he explained. ‘Do not raise your hand and shake his hand until he’s raised his hand towards you.

‘He kept looking towards Sophie, and as soon as he went towards Sophie, Sophie put her hand up, like this… and then he turned away and she put it back down again’

‘And she did this about three or four times, and then what happened was he looked at her again, because he’s just being polite. You’re meant to wait until he puts his hand up!’

Sophie wasn’t sure the correct way to approach the king(Image: Jamie Laing/Instagram)

Admitting she was mortified by the incident, which was filmed by a Netflix production team, Sophie said: ‘I thought I was missing my opportunity and I didn’t listen to that, because they were talking and it’s just noise in my ear.

‘So I thought “he’s looking at me, is this my moment, I’m meant to shake and curtsy?” And I was buckling.’

Cracking up, Jamie revealed how Sophie resorted to robotically holding her hand out in anticipation of the King as he worked his way down a line that included beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury, Hollywood star George Clooney and his wife Amal.

‘And then what happened was, the last time, he turned towards Sophie, Sophie put out her hand. She didn’t withdraw, she just held it there,’ he said.

“I’m heading into the sunset and I talk about it regularly on the show and you know it’s interesting because now everybody talks about it. Not me, not mine, but their own, you know, they don’t feel that they’re doing it quite right without having a cancer to talk about.

Former the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Aaron Phypers has reportedly filed for divorce from Denise Richards this week. He’s been married to the actor for more than six year but they are now said to have separated recently.

Denise, 54 – who played ‘Bond girl’ Christmas Jones in the James Bond film the World Is Not Enough (1999) – began her relationship with Aaron, 52, back in 2017. The couple married the following year, months after their engagement.

Aaron’s now said to have filed for divorce in Los Angeles today, just two months before their seventh wedding anniversary. It’s been reported that he has cited “irreconcilable differences” and lists July 4 as the date of their separation.

TMZ reports that according to court documents, obtained by the outlet, he’s seeking spousal support from Denise and reportedly has no income of his own. It adds that Aaron estimates that his wife is grossing over $250,000 a month – around £185,000 – from OnlyFans, TV, brand deals and appearances.

It’s also reported that in the filing he estimates that they spend $105,000 – around £77,000 – a month on average and that Denise has been covering it. Their monthly spending is said to include $20K on clothes and $15K on eating out, which is around £15,000 and £11,000 respectively.

According to People magazine, which is also said to have seen court documents, Aaron has asked to keep their assets and debts as separate property. The request is said to include his power tools, a motorcycle and a sports car.

Denise, whose acting credits include films like Wild Things (1998), was once married to fellow actor Charlie Sheen. Aaron has himself been married previously, with him the ex-husband of former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan.

Through her first marriage, Denise shares her eldest children Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with her ex-husband Charlie. She’s also a parent to Eloise, 14, whom she adopted after her divorce from the former Two and a Half Men star.

Denise paid tribute to Aaron last year for their sixth wedding anniversary. She wrote on Instagram at the time: “Happy Anniversary babes! You’re my forever and I love you so much. Thank you for always having my back & being the most supportive husband.”

Aaron also marked the occasion in September last year. He wrote: “Happy anniversary to my sweetest love! Thanks for always being there my beautiful wife! Love you!”

Denise and Aaron have appeared together on TV in recent years. It includes on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, with Denise having been part of the main cast between 2019 and 2020, though she’s also made guest appearances.

They have more recently featured alongside her children on Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. The reality TV show about the family launched on Bravo earlier this year and the first series, which had eight episodes, concluded in April.

Comic Reginald D Hunter has appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court after being privately prosecuted for alleged anti-Semitic social media posts

Reginald D Hunter has made an appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court after being privately prosecuted. The American comedian, 56, has been accused of three counts of sending offensive communications on social media, on August 24, September 10 and September 11, last year on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It’s claimed that his posts were “anti-Semitic”. Reginald had originally been scheduled to appear in court on May 30 of this year, but Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram had issued a warrant for him to attend today. During today’s hearing, he spoke only to confirm his personal details. No indication of a plea was given, and Reginald was bailed and told to return for a hearing at the same court on November 14.

Deputy district judge Louise Balmain told the comic: “There is going to be an initial legal argument as to whether the case should proceed, and that will take place on November 14.” He was told to attend the hearing as he will find out whether the case is going ahead and whether he will have to enter a plea.

Reginald, whose address was given as care of his solicitors, was released on unconditional bail. It comes just a week after he said that Campaign Against Antisemitism had been “dragging me to court for jokes online.” He also said he is “fighting a private prosecution for my comedy” and launched a crowdfunding page to cover his fees.

A total of £19,836 towards a £50,000 target had been pledged by the time he made his first appearance in court on Monday. The crowdfunding, aimed at raising money towards specialist counsel and any appeals procedures and court fees, states: “Born in Georgia in 1969, Reginald has been a force in UK comedy since 1992.

“Known for his biting social commentary, he has appeared on Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats and was Perrier-nominated at Edinburgh Festival. Reginald challenges audiences on racism, politics, and religion. He is staunchly anti-War and has publicly criticised Israel in the past.”

The court had heard at the earlier hearing from prosecutor Donal Lawler that Hunter was a “well-known comedian” who was being privately prosecuted by Campaign Against Antisemitism. It’s claimed that Mr Hunter had sent a computer-generated sexual image to Heidi Bachram last August, with the charges reading it was “grossly offensive.”

But on September 10, he is accused of tweeting Ms Bachram, saying: “THIS is why I HATE these people and am committed to their destruction not because JEW hatred Not even because they are European Nazis pretending to be JEWS Because of all the lying. Mama HATED liars and bequeathed that hatred to ALL of her children.”

Just one day later, he is said to have sent another message, reading: “Hey sugar. I don’t hate you for being an agent of evil. Not new Not even uncommon.

“You being a liar a persistent liar KNOWING the truth, is why I will see you and your kind ended, even if it costs me EVERYTHING. You are not even a JEW. Run tell that.”

On May 30, Campaign Against Antisemitism posted on X: “A warrant has been issued for Reginald D. Hunter to attend court in relation to a private prosecution brought by CAA. Mr Hunter is charged with three offences under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, relating to posts on X that he allegedly published in September 2024.

“The first hearing took place today at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, but Mr Hunter failed to appear. A warrant has now been issued for him to attend court on a future date. This is one of a number of private prosecutions that CAA is bringing, and there will be more to say on the case in due course.”

In August last year, Hunter was cleared of not committing any crimes, after an investigation by Police Scotland following claims of a “hate crime”, towards an Israeli couple, who claimed they had been “harassed” and “booed” at his show on the Edinburgh Fringe. The performance was cancelled by the theatre after the couple were heckled out of the performance following a joke. At the time, Reginald said on social media that he regretted an “unfortunate incident.”

He added: “There was an unfortunate incident in my new show ‘Fluffy Fluffy Beavers. As a comedian I do push boundaries in creating humour, it is part of my job. This inevitably creates divided opinions but I am staunchly anti-war and anti-bullying. I regret any stress caused to the audience and venue staff members.”

Gary Lineker reveals awkward moment with Anthony Joshua at Wimbledon

Gary Lineker has been speaking about his recent trip to Wimbledon and the Match of the Day host says the presence of Anthony Joshua in the royal box was a little awkward

Big boxer Anthony Joshua left Gary Lineker feeling a little uncomfortable when the pair met at Wimbledon last week.

The broadcaster and the athlete were sat side-by-side in the royal box on Centre Court on Friday as they were treated to Carlos Alcaraz’s latest champion performance as well as Emma Raducanu’s epic with Aryna Sabalenka under the roof. But the former Match of the Day host says the experience left him feeling quite uncomfortable.

Chatting to Micah Richards and Alan Shearer about it on his Rest Is Football podcast, Gary discussed the matter with his fellow former pros, who couldn’t help but laugh after being made to feel very small by man mountain AJ as they watched the action on day five of the Championships.

Gary said: “I went to Wimbledon the other day. I just want to thank Wimbledon for inviting me, it was lovely. I took my youngest, Angus. We sat next to Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn and we had a laugh watching some great tennis.” Micah stopped him, and chimed in: “Can I just say, you were looking marvellous.”

Shearer added: “Micah, he was looking marvellous until you looked to his left and saw Anthony Joshua.” Ignoring the former Manchester City defender and England legend, Gary went on: “I was sitting in the seats next to Anthony, and he’s obviously huge. His legs… and the only way he sits, because there wasn’t enough room, was he had his legs wide open.

“And I was forced, for like seven hours, whatever it was, to put my legs to the… it got to the stage where I was getting cramp in my inside thigh so badly. The game was going on and I wanted to shout.

“But I never had the balls, at any point, to tell him, ‘Will you f***ing move your legs over a little bit, give me some room?’ Absolutely true. But he’s a lovely, lovely guy and I had a laugh with him. And they were great company for the afternoon.”

The host, 64, left his role at Match of the Day in May, having presented the show for 26 years. His departure came after he shared a social media post which included a rat emoji, an animal historically used to represent Jews in antisemitic propaganda. Lineker deleted the post and issued multiple apologies but the decision was made for him to leave the BBC altogether a year earlier than planned.

Recently, the former England striker has hit out at the broadcaster over a documentary which they refused to air over impartiality concerns, resulting in backlash. ‘Gaza: Doctors Under Attack’ was commissioned and paid for by the BBC as the bloody Israel-Gaza conflict continues.

According to the Independent, it was given six different transmission dates across January and February but its premiere kept getting pushed back. Now Channel 4 has the rights to the documentary which was made by Basement Films. At a screening on, Lineker gave his reaction while holding back tears. “One of the most important films I’ve ever seen, certainly the most moving. I might need a minute here,” he told the audience.

“It needed to be seen. It really did need to be seen. I think everyone would agree with that. I think the BBC should hold its head in shame. “I’ve worked for the corporation for 30 years; to see the way it’s declined in the last year or two has been devastating really. I’ve defended it and defended it against claims that it is partial.”

He added: “It talks about impartiality all the time. The truth is at the moment, at the very top of the BBC, not the BBC all over, because as you know there are thousands and thousands of people who work at the BBC that are good people that understand what is going on here and can see it.

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney has reportedly signed an £800,000 deal to be a pundit on Match of the Day from next season. The England icon will join the BBC’s flagship show following Gary’s departure. He has been replaced by Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates who will rotate as host of Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2, the Sunday highlights show.

And the trio will be joined by Rooney who will appear as a pundit, report The Sun. Rooney has dipped his toe into more punditry on the BBC and Sky Sports since he was sacked as Plymouth manager on New Year’s Eve. Lineker hosted his final Match of the Day in May, and signed off with an emotional statement. “Alan [Shearer] and Micah [Richards], I suspect our paths will cross again very shortly,” he said.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank all of the other pundits that I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years, you’ve made my job so much easier.

“Also, a huge thank you to those you don’t see at home: the work that goes into making this iconic show is a huge team effort. From the editors, to the analysis team, from the commentators to the floor managers, from the producers to the camera operators, from the PAs to the subs, thank you all, you’re the very best.
