  • ‘I was surrounded by Southport attack rioters – my wife and I thought we’d be killed’

‘I was surrounded by Southport attack rioters – my wife and I thought we’d be killed’

EXCLUSIVE: Youtuber Wesley Winter has revealed how he became caught up in the Middlesbrough riots after the Southport stabbings where Axel Rudakubana killed three young girls

A YouTuber has described the horrific moment that his wife was surrounded by violent rioters in Middlesbrough in the wake of the Southport killings in July last year. Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, died after being stabbed by Axel Rudakubana at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in Southport last July.

The mass stabbing resulted in widespread protests and riots across the country – explored in Channel 4’s new documentary One Day in Southport airing tonight at 9pm. Wesley Winter, who contributes to the documentary, has opened up in an exclusive chat with The Mirror about filming the riots in Middlesbrough on 4 August.

What was meant to be a peaceful protest in light of the fatal Southport stabbings turned into riots which were fuelled by anti-Islamophobic and racist misinformation around the killer’s identity. Over 1,000 people attended the riot, which saw some smash shop windows, attack homes and burn cars.

“We saw a car get burnt down. For me, the most shocking thing was that there was a car trying to get through and people were saying, ‘If you’re not white, you can’t go through,’” says Wesley – who is half Korean. “That was really to see because Middlesbrough was quite a diverse area.

“It did seem like it was an excuse for just anyone to break houses and smash windows and target anyone and everyone. It was unfair.”

For Wesley’s wife Cailin – a Chinese national – the experience proved to be traumatic. While waiting in their car for Wesley to film, she was surrounded by masked rioters who began attacking the vehicle.

“They were like monkeys, yelling, shouting and jumping around, jumping on the car one-by-one,” she says. “They kicked the windows, smashed the windows and celebrated. I realised that they didn’t fear anything.

“My brain was empty. I didn’t know what to do because I thought if they see me, they’re going to kill me because they were so excited. My husband called and told me to get out of the car and run, but I said, ‘There’s 30 of them and someone is riding a bicycle. If I run, they can so easily chase me and catch me. I felt like, ‘I’m going to die today.’

“I could feel the heat, I could smell the smoke. There was a helicopter in the sky. It was like the Walking Dead. I never thought we would see that in real life.”

Wesley adds, “Stuff was getting thrown. I realised that these aren’t normal people and anything can happen.”

The incident has deeply affected X. “It was really traumatic because she’s not familiar with England that much. Now when she goes to the high street, if people are riding on bikes with masks on, it’s traumatic for her,” he says.

The police arrested 43 people in connection with the violence in Middlesbrough. Wesley thinks that the government could have stepped in sooner to stop the damage from happening.

“There was a lot of damage control that could have been done from the government. There was a lack of information at the time around who the attacker was,” he says.

“There was so much speculation about who he was and I know there are laws around it but for this particular case, I think there should have been more information to reduce the risk.

“People wanted to funnel their anger somewhere and they just chose the streets. It was really unfortunate.”

As for why viewers should watch One Day in Southport, Wesley says that it adds a different perspective to the horrific story.

“First and foremost, it remembers the three girls and the people who were injured at what happened in Southport,” he says. “I think it isn’t spoken about enough that the number of people who died could have been higher.”

Unforgivable star Mark Womack’s forgotten soap role as he returns to screen

Mark Womack is back on our screens tonight in Unforgivable but he previously played a major villain in one of Britain’s top soaps.

Mark Womack previously starred on Emmerdale as corrupt copper DI Mark Malone

Mark Womack is back on our screens tonight in Unforgivable, and will be seen alongside Anna Friel and Anna Maxwell Martin when the new drama premieres on BBC Two. The actor, 64, is no stranger to the small screen, having appeared in episodes of Judge John Deed, Vera, and Silent Witness over the years.

He had a regular role on Liverpool 1 in the late 1990s, where he met and later married co-star Samantha Janus, who later found huge success as Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders, although they divorced in 2018. But Mark was also recently part of one of Britain’s staple soap operas for a period of time.

Throughout 2020, he appeared as DI Mark Malone on ITV’s Emmerdale and turned up in the village to investigate the shooting of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). Over time, it became apparent that his character was corrupt and, as the boss of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), decided to blackmail his colleague, along with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), into joining forces with him. He later started up an affair with Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton). When Harriet is about to get married to Will, Will decides to try framing Will for possession of drugs, but Will found out and bludgeoned his boss with a spanner.

Dawn Taylor ( Olivia Bromley ) then threatened to report him to the police, but the corrupt copper found out and tried to force her into a drug overdose. But his evil plan was interrupted when Harriet walked in and hit him over the head, which led to Dawn fatally shooting him. Just over two years later, Harriet herself was killed off in 2022, when she died amid the show’s 50th anniversary episodes.

Speaking about his character at the time, Mark said: “In a different world he would quite like Dawn, he probably thinks she is ballsy. That relationship has never been given the chance to form, and what he hates is people who betray him.

“Even though there is no relationship with Dawn, in his head once someone betrays you especially in the way that she does it, she compromises everything, his future, his plans it’s unforgivable.”

His final appearance on the show came in August 2020, and Mark has since been seen in an episode of Moving On and then became a regular in The Responder opposite Martin Freeman, Adelayo Adedayo and Shameless star Warren Brown.

Unforgivable is a powerful new drama penned by the legendary Cracker and Time screenwriter Jimmy McGovern and amongst its stellar cast also features Adolescence child star Austin Haynes. The drama arrives on BBC iPlayer from 6am on Thursday 24 July, with episodes kicking off on BBC Two, from 9pm that same evening.

Set in Liverpool, the production follows the lives of the Mitchell family, who have been dealing with the aftermath of grooming and sexual abuse. After serving a two-year jail sentence, Bobby Schofield, the person who committed the disturbing crimes, was released from prison. Bobby is ordered to carry out a residential rehabilitation programme upon his release, to understand through therapy what may have led him to commit such an awful crime.

The series aims to understand all viewpoints and how abuse can impact every single person within a family setting. “Unforgivable examines the extensive ripple effect of abuse from multiple perspectives and how those involved can try to move forwards in the midst of the devastation,” explained the BBC.

Its synopsis reads: “Having served his prison sentence, Joe (Bobby Schofield) arrives at St Maura’s, an institution which offers him a home and rehabilitation after his release.

With the support of Katherine ( Anna Maxwell Martin ), an ex-nun, Joe undertakes therapy sessions in the hope of understanding what led him to commit the abuse.” The overview further states: “Simultaneously, his sister, Anna (Anna Friel), is dealing with the enormous impact that Joe’s crime has had on her family – her sons, Tom (Austin Haynes) and Peter (Finn McParland), and her father, Brian (David Threlfall).”

Emmerdale Owen blunder slammed by fans – but missed clue could expose John

Emmerdale viewers were left calling out the show’s police force over some obvious signs of a cover-up on the ITV soap, amid John Sugden framing Owen for Nate’s murder

Viewers of Emmerdale have slammed a new twist that saw newcomer Owen framed for the murder of Nate Robinson this week.

Owen was found dead by the police, and they spotted a suicide note and a murder confession on his laptop. It detailed how he’d murdered Nate, including information on what happened and how he disposed of the body.

Of course viewers know that it was John Sugden who killed Nate and then covered up the crime until Nate’s body was found. After various ways of trying to hide his guilt he settled for letting patient Owen die after a suspected overdose, before typing out the confession on his laptop.

He took steps to hide the fact he’d been there, removing fingerprints from Owen’s body as well as the laptop and other place. But it was this “error” fans believe could expose Owen was framed, and it left many fans slamming the police force for their quick decision to accept Owen’s confession.

The missed clue of the suspicious removal of fingerprints surely would have sparked alarm bells if they’d paid attention. Why would there be no fingerprints and a clean keyboard if Owen had just typed out a note before possibly taking his own life?

There’s also the fact that his laptop somehow remained opened and accessible, seemingly. Surely during a post-mortem it might be flagged that Owen’s death was accidental, plus the fact his arm had been wiped? Maybe not, but some fans were sure John’s clean-up would end up giving away he was there.

John had claimed he couldn’t get into the house, but what if he left some sort of evidence behind that proves he was there? Fans also noted that Owen’s decision to type out a murder confession and not write it or text it would also spark concern that this was not his doing.

Other viewers claimed points about the confession also did not add up, with Owen being a complete stranger and it apparently being a chance encounter. So how did he just happen to have access to the tools used to cover up the body, and what about a weapon or cause of death?

Taking to social media, one fan said: “So Owen types out a long suicide note, then wipes his laptop clean of prints, front and back. Then kills himself. Makes absolutely zero sense, obviously.” A fan replied: “Exactly! John probably thought he was so clever lol.”

Another viewer commented: “I would have thought that the police would dust it for prints and ask Liam if he touched it rather than showing him the suicide note even before the autopsy.” A fourth fan said: “I’m hoping this is what catches John out tbh.”

A fifth viewer posted: “That it was typed and not written is a red flag for a cover up and computer screens shut down and locked up after a few minutes.” Another fan said: “A roadside killing by some random should be messy with the body just dumped in a ditch somewhere.”

A final fan questioned: “Supposedly, Owen ‘killed’ Nate in a road rage incident, if I heard that correctly… but how exactly? Did he hit him with his car? Was there a weapon(s) involved? Owen, while tall, did he look like he could take Nate in a fight??”

Hulk Hogan’s wildest TV moments – from on-screen divorce to failed drama stint

Hulk Hogan became a wrestling legend throughout his 49-year career and rose through the ranks of the WWE – however, he also made a number of TV shows outside of the ring

Controversial professional wrestler Hulk Hogan died today aged 71, leaving behind not only a WWE legacy but a varied TV career also. The star – known for his blonde mullet and distinctive horseshoe moustache – took the wrestling world by storm in the late ’70s and quickly became a WrestleMania legend.

However, Hulk’s career persisted outside of the ring, with the 6ft 7 star making his film debut as Rocky Balboa’s opponent Thunderlips in Rocky III before starring in 1989 film No Holds Barred. With stints in animation, comedy, drama and reality, here’s a dive into Hulk Hogan’s strange and varied TV career.

    Hogan Knows Best

Hulk with his then-wife Linda, daughter Brooke and son Nick.
Hulk with his then-wife Linda, daughter Brooke and son Nick.

Following in the footsteps of fellow famous family The Osbournes, Hulk gave his own brood a public platform with the reality show Hogan Knows Best.

The VH1 series followed Hulk – real name Terry Bollea – and his then-wife Linda as they raised teens Brooke, 17, and Nick, 15. Airing for two years across four series, you would be forgiven for thinking Hogan Knows Best was a fever dream.

From Linda taking in a baby chimpanzee as a temporary pet and Brooke beginning a pop career to over-protective Hulk using any excuse to spy on his teenage daughter, Hulk Knows Best was a bizarre yet entertaining reality TV offering.

The show came to an abrupt end in 2007 when Linda suddenly filed for divorce from Hulk, with Brooke going on to star in her own reality TV spin-off.

    Baywatch spin-off star

In the early ’90s, Hulk was given a chance at starring in his own action-adventure series Thunder in Paradise – from the creators of beach hit Baywatch. Starring as Randolph J. ‘Hurricane’ Spencer, Hulk led the series, which followed two ex-Navy SEALS in their work as mercenaries at their tropical headquarters in Florida.

The series also starred the likes of Chris Lemmon, Carol Alt and Ashely Gorrell with various WWE cameos. However, the series was ultimately reviewed as “cheesy” and “stupid, sexist and embarrassing” by some critics. Unsurprisingly, it ran for just eight months in 1994.

    Hulkster makes SNL history

Hulk Hogan made history in 1985 when he became the first-ever WWE wrestler to host Saturday Night Live – NBC’s long-running live sketch show. Hulk took to the stage alongside The A Team’s Mr. T to promote the upcoming Wrestlemania, while The Commodores were the musical guest.

The likes of Christopher Guest, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Martin Short, Jim Belushi and Billy Crystal were members of the cast at the time – while Liberace was among the stars who made a guest appearance. Since Hulk’s stint, SNL has invited John Cena and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to host the show.

    Brooke Knows Best heartbreak

After the end of Hogan Knows Best and the end of his marriage to Linda, Hulk began appearing in Brooke Knows Best – the reality show spin-off starring their daughter Brooke. The VH1 show, which aired for a year in 2008, caught the family at a tough time.

An emotional Linda appears in one episode, sobbing over the demise of her marriage after accusing him of cheating on her. Meanwhile, Hulk and Linda’s son Nick had been arrested a year prior for driving under the influence and crashing his car into a tree, resulting in his friend John Graziano suffering brain damage.

The show appeared to make the beginning of Hulk’s downfall – with the wrestler retaining just 30% of his and Linda’s liquid assets in the divorce and his sex tape with Heather Clem leaking just a few years later.

  • Inside GK Barry’s famous feuds as ITV I’m A Celebrity star leaves pals worried

Inside GK Barry’s famous feuds as ITV I’m A Celebrity star leaves pals worried

Podcaster GK Barry is making firm friends – and winning over lots of fans – while in the I’m A Celebrity jungle. But some stars back in the UK have beef with her.

GK Barry on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

GK Barry may have won over the audience on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! but the popular podcaster has made some enemies over the course of her career.

The glamorous 25-year-old TIkTok sensation – whose real name is Grace Keeling – had TV viewers in hysterics on Sunday night as she entered the I’m A Celeb jungle. She cracked amusing one-liners and pulled exaggerated expressions while undertaking early tasks – with fans quickly voting for her to face the first publicly voted challenge in an effort to secure more airtime for her.

The emerging reality star – who hosts the popular Saving Grace Podcast – has clashed with fellow stars in the past including a pop singer who turned out to be a co-star, a celebrity bar owner, and a Love Island winner. While one star has threatened to sue GK over one of her podcast episodes, the star herself has proven that she can hold her nerve and refused to remove the seemingly offensive episode – and the offended celeb has not followed through with their threat of legal action.

As GK emerges as an early favourite for the 2024 season of I’m A Celebrity and fans have watched her bond with her fellow campmates, we take a look at some of the celebs that she’s not been getting on so well with back in the UK.

    Frankie Bridge

While GK is best known for her podcast and social media presence, some TV viewers may recognise her as an occasional guest on ITV’s lunchtime show Loose Women. While GK has been reunited with show panelist Jane Moore, there is a former I’m A Celeb star that she has clashed with on the lunchtime show – Frankie Bridge.

Eyebrows were raised when GK appeared on the show and discussed her career as a social media influencer and quipped: “I just fell into it… Do you know what though, I always wanted to be one of The Saturdays. When I grew up I got no GCSEs because I was like, ‘I’ll just be Frankie.’” Mrs Bridge then snapped: “That felt like a backhanded compliment!” And later said: “I don’t like you yet, go away!” – but the ladies have assured fans it has all been in jest.

Frankie who topped the charts with hits including All Fired Up also shared her disappointment when it was revealed she was no longer the youngest on the panel, with GK taking the crown.

    Wayne Linker

GK has previously claimed she had an awkward run-in with Wayne Lineker when she attended his infamous Ibiza island O Bar establishment. She claimed on her Saving Grace podcast that he shunned her after inviting her to join him at the club, recounting: “I went to his restaurant and he went, ‘I’ll give you a discount if you come back.’ So I thought, Ibiza is well expensive, so I went there.”

She claimed: “He was with this girl and her mum, and I was like, ‘I’ll just say hello’. And I went to say hello and the mum went, ‘Not while we’re eating!’ I thought, the cheek! He went, ‘Hello.’ I thought, ‘Yeah, hello… Anyway, hope you choke b***h.’”

While appearing on KISS FM, GK was confronted by presenter Harriet Rose during a game of Say It Or Shot It over an allegation that she was being sued over her Saving Grace Podcast. Confronting her guest with a question that could be skipped in exchange for a penalty drinking shot, Harriet asked GK: “In an interview with Cosmopolitan, you said that someone once threatened to sue you for talking about them on Saving Grace. Who was it?”

GK then admitted: “F**k, oh it was Ekin-Su. She was like, ‘Yeah, if you don’t take this down, we’ll sue you.’ I didn’t take it down but she didn’t sue me, though.” Sounding shocked, Harriet then replied: “I’ve got to say that is the one question I genuinely did not think you would answer.” But proving she has a steely nature, GK joked: “If you think I’m doing that shot, I’ll answer anything.”

Despite GK Barry being afraid of the critters in the jungle, she’s not scared of awkward encounters when it comes to celebrity feuds.

GK Barry, whose real name is Grace Keeling, shot to fame on TikTok, and her success led her to starting the Saving HGrace podcast and joining the Loose Women panel as the youngest on the show.

However, she’s managed to ruffle a few feathers on her journey to fame, including upsetting fellow Loose Women co-star Frankie Bridge and nearly being sued by Love Islander Ekin-Su over a podcast episode. Here, we take a look at some of the campmate’s most controversial moments and feuds…

The 25-year-old revealed that Love Island star Ekin-Su had threatened to sue her over a podcast chat, and while it’s not clear what exactly was said, GK said Ekin-Su was ‘furious’ after her comments on the Saving Grace podcast. In a chat with KISS FM presenter Harriet Rose, Grace was asked: “In an interview with Cosmopolitan, you said that someone once threatened to sue you for talking about them on Saving Grace. Who was it?”

Grace replied: “F**k, oh it was Ekin-Su. She was like, ‘Yeah, if you don’t take this down, we’ll sue you.’ I didn’t take it down but she didn’t sue me, though.” Harried then said: “I’ve got to say that is the one question I genuinely did not think you would answer.”

It’s not just Eki-Su’s wrath Grace has been under, she also upset fellow Loose Women panellist Frankie Bridges. The pair clashed live on show when The Saturdays singer Frankie accused Grace of giving her a ‘backhanded compliment’. The pair were on the show joined by Denise Welch and Kaye Adams and were discussing career changes and how GK got into social media.

Speaking about her career, GK said: “I just fell into it. Do you know what though, I always wanted to be one of The Saturdays. When I grew up I got no GCSEs because I was like, ‘I’ll just be Frankie’”. However, the comment didn’t land well with Frankie, who pulled a disgruntled expression and said: “That felt like a backhanded compliment!”

Their fellow co-stars then joked about Frankie not being the youngest panellist anymore, and in another awkward moment, Frankie joked about being ‘fuming’ that she wasn’t the ‘baby’ of the show since GK’s arrival. GK said: “I know there is a feud now and I was so excited to meet Frankie but now there is a feud!” Frankie replied back: “I don’t like you yet, go away!

GK also had issues with Wayne Lineker after she was left shocked by his hospitality treatment while on holiday in Ibiza. Wayne, the younger brother of Gary Lineker, had invited GK Barry to his star-studded O Beach club, but then shunned the star after he promised to ‘look after’ her.

She went to her podcast to share the ordeal and said: “I went to his restaurant, and he went, ‘I’ll give you a discount if you come back’. So I thought, Ibiza is well expensive, so I went there. He was with this girl and her mum, and I was like, I’ll just say hello, and I went to say hello and the mum went, ‘Not while we’re eating!’ I thought, the cheek! He went, ‘hello’. I thought, Yeah, hello. Anyway, hope you choke b***h,” she admitted.

GK Barry was also at the centre of a social media storm after she chatted with controversial adult star Bonnie Blue on her Saving Grace podcast.

GK had shared an episode of her podcast where she interviews Bonnie, who become notorious for posting adult content as she recently claimed that she had slept with 100 men in a day. The video soon went viral and criticism was strong against GK who questioned her choice of guest. Many slammed the social media host for interviewing Bonnie as they felt the subject is “harmful” to her fans which include young girls. Fans also felt that Bonnie glorifies the acts.

GK Barry then removed all traces of her interview with the OnlyFans star after all the backlash from fans.

Coleen Rooney previously admitted to ‘feeling’ for Rebekah Vardy as she was the subject of relentless abuse during the Wagatha trial – but this has been met with criticism

Coleen Rooney confessed to “feeling” for Rebekah Vardy as she was targeted by vile trolls. Now, a fellow WAG has hit out at Coleen’s comments and claims she did “absolutely nothing” to stop the abuse being hurled at Rebekah.

The wife of Wayne Rooney went head to head in court as Dancing On Ice’s Rebekah launched a libel case against the Liverpudlian following her infamous tweet. In 2019, Coleen took to social media claiming that Rebekah’s Instagram account was responsible for leaking stories to the press, an allegation which she denies.

It emerged during the High Court case that Caroline Watt, Rebekah’s former agent may have been responsible for posts from Coleen’s private Instagram being leaked, as she had access to Vardy’s account. But after Coleen shared her post with her millions of online followers, Rebekah became the subject of relentless abuse from vile social media trolls.

The businesswoman and charity ambassador previously spoke about the toll the abuse had on her and cried while appearing on Loose Women as she read one of the sickening messages. During her Disney+ series as she reflected on the abuse Rebekah had faced, Coleen said: “It was painful watching it.

“In a weird way, I felt for her because she chose to go to court and put herself in that situation, it wasn’t nice.” Vardy’s lawyers argued that Coleen’s post had seriously harmed her career and reputation. But in response to this, a source close to the warring WAGs has now told the Mirror: “She felt so sorry for Becky she did absolutely nothing to stop it even after being asked several times. Coleen was well aware of what the abuse and bullying was doing to Rebekah Vardy.

“In fact her legal team went so far to continue to reject any of Rebekah’s serious harm case right up until the first day of court when they eventually accepted and conceded on not only that point but others also causing severe distress and unnecessary expense.” During the Disney+ series, Coleen commented that going to court was her worst nightmare and that she had hoped to settle the libel claim outside of the court room.

Coleen is now relaunching her TV career, having entered the ITV I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp and has stated she had wanted to leave the infamous Wagatha trial in the past. Instead, Coleen hopes that viewers of the programme will see the real her and know her as “Coleen from Liverpool.”

However, sources have hit out claiming that Coleen was 'well aware' of the abuse pregnant Rebekah was receiving by trolls

When asked by the Mirror what she thinks about the name and the possibility of being remembered in a different light, perhaps as queen of the jungle, Coleen said: “I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It’s just me, as I always have been, so hopefully people just think she’s that Scouser that she’s always been.”

However, during the launch programme on Sunday, viewers saw Coleen cringe when her social media nickname was used by her co-star. Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough was tasked with choosing one celebrity to partner up with. His pal and colleague Melvin Odoom instantly believed he would be in luck due to their bond.

However, Dean ran across the beach yelling: “Wagatha Christie… You’re coming with me!” as Coleen cringed and shook her head. In an interview before heading into camp, Coleen said she had put the public legal battle with Rebekah behind her, and was keen on “moving forward”. She said: “That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back. That’s something I’ve done my whole life, dealt with things, moved forward at the time and got on. There are more important things to think about with the family and kids.”

Loose Women’s Denise Welch admits ‘I’ve not been well’ as she opens up on ‘rough’ time

On Wednesday’s instalment of Loose Women, Denise Welch opened up about her mental health to her ITV co-stars.

Loose Women’s Denise Welch has detailed having a tough time over the past few weeks.

Addressing the topic, ITV star Kaye Adams told viewers that Denise’s ‘unwelcome visitor,’ which she calls her depression, has been knocking at the door.

Denise said: “Yeah, so I had a really rough two weeks, which I’m still in a bit. I just did a podcast and a big article saying how I’ve been free for five years of clinical depression.

“Sadly, the unwelcome visitor paid me another visit, so I’ve not been well for a couple of weeks.”

She added: “I just wanted to come on here because what I need when I’m poorly, I need for my friends to just know that I need time to get well.”

Denise told the panellists that what she needed during these times was the choice to go to work when she was emotionally ready, explaining her absence from the show last week.

The Loose Women star continued: ” When Janet returned it was up to Janet to say, ‘I’ve had hip surgery I feel well enough to come back’. It’s up to me to know when I’m well enough to come back.

“The only thing that people will relate to if they have depression is, I’ve been free of the morning fear for a long time. I can be ok today, but then tomorrow, I can be absolutely terrible, and it’s isolating.”

Giving more context, Denise shared that the NHS describes depression as an ongoing sadness. She added: Sadness is something that you have as a result of something making you sad, it’s a healthy emotion.

“Depression does exactly what it says on the tin, it depresses every single emotion. So you feel a flatness to things you usually get emotional or have feelings about, it robs you of that.”

Before ending the conversation, Denise thanked her Loose Women co-stars for their support, and she confessed it helps her to go to work while she’s working through this time.

As the audience gave her a huge round of applause for opening up, Janet Street-Porter stood up and gave Denise a huge hug.

Taken aback by Janet’s kindness, Kaye Adams yelled in disbelief, “Oh my god!”

Joking aside, the ITV star added: “You know it’s so amazing for you to share that side of yourself, Denise, I know a lot of people watching will be very, very grateful for that. We love every version of you.”

It wasn’t long before people took to social media to share their thoughts on Denise opening up.

One person said: “Love her, dislike her, mental health is s**t. Hope Denise gets through this quickly.”

Someone else wrote: “How terribly brave of you Denise, you could have always stayed at home for a few months to get well.”

Another wrote: “I hope @RealDeniseWelch is feeling better soon. It’s important mental health is spoken about, no one minds when we speak about our physical health. The taboo about mental health needs to go.”

“@RealDeniseWelch @loosewomen well done for sharing with us and for describing depression so well. Thinking of you as you continue to recover,” wrote another.

With another adding: “Thank you, Denise, for your powerful words today.”

I’m a Celeb’s Jane Moore reveals personal bombshell leaving campmates speechless

Jane Moore once left a tattoo parlour mid procedure – because it was “too painful” to complete.

The Loose Woman told her I’m a Celebrity co-stars the comical story about when she went for the etching at just 18 – but found it too agonising so left after an outline was done.

Speaking on Wednesday’s show on ITV, she said the outline now resembles a “golden eagle” because her bum has got bigger since. The confession left her campmates, including Corrie actor Alan Halsall, McFly singer Danny Jones, N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos, speechless.

The gang were eventually pictured bursting into laughter at Jane’s cheeky mishap, which she shared after asking Danny about his tattoo on his right leg. The musician, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, admitted he was underage when he got the large inking done but, as a kid, wanted something with Bruce Springsteen lyrics on.

Then Jane, who has been a regular on Loose Women since 2013, said: “When I was about 18, I thought I’m gonna get a bluebird on my bum. They just did the outline and I went ‘too painful, thanks’, and I just left… So I’ve just got this outline. It’s like a golden eagle now because my arse has got bigger.”

It offered Danny, 38, light relief as later in the show, he broke down as he opened up on battling anxiety since he was a teenager. Talking about therapy and his emotions, jungle co-stars Oti Mabuse and Tulisa both praised the musician for opening up.

Asked about therapy, Danny went on: “Yeah, I’ve been in therapy since I was 19 for anxiety.” It’s then that he detailed an on-air panic attack that left him “freaking out” during a televised interview. He revealed: “I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me. Heart rate goes crazy.”

Jane had asked whether he’d suffered with it from childhood, with Danny becoming upset with his head in his hands as he told her: “I think I escaped a lot.”

As he broke down, Tulisa said in the Bush Telegraph: “We’re seeing a lot of emotion coming out of Danny which is beautiful.” Back in camp Danny then thanked his campmates.

GK Barry’s mum has shared with the Mirror how proud she is of her daughter’s Jungle journey to date – and how she could even triumph such is her determination

I’m a Celeb star GK Barry’s mum has backed her daughter to be crowned Queen of the Jungle – telling the Mirror: “I am just so proud of her.

Mum Loretta has watched in awe as her daughter, whose real name is Grace, has impressed viewers on the ITV show. It marks an incredible rise for the 25–year-old who despite having an avid following online, has not broken into the mainstream yet…until now.

But for mum Loretta, her success was never in doubt – and she is not surprised viewers have fallen in love with her.

“Both her father and I are absolutely incredibly proud of what she’s doing,” Loretta says. “We feel this is only the beginning. Once people get to know Grace, she will become an absolute comedy legend. She’s good at entertaining people of all ages, and it’s really exciting to see her on the screen for the first time. She’ll be her amazing self.”

Asked if she could win the whole show, Loretta even says: “Yeah, I think she could. If she puts her mind to it, Grace can do anything.”

And that included facing her fear of creepy-crawlies in “Vile Volcano”, which saw her endure rats, lizards and snakes…yet emerge with nine stars.

It was quite the turnaround after being left distraught by cockroaches in the first episode, which initially didn’t bode well for the rest of the series. Then last night, GK left the trial arena with no stars after flopping a terrifying water trial alongside campmate Dean.

Speaking on spin-off show Unpacked, host Ant McPartlin fumed over the lack of effort. He called out stars for wasting time during trials, bothered when they “don’t even try” before screaming and flapping around in fear.

But Loretta insists: “I think the more she does, the stronger she’ll get. Whatever she needs to do, I know Grace will do it and she’ll give it her all.”

Growing up, she says Grace was always terrified of bugs.

“I wouldn’t expect anything less from Grace…she’s always been a bit of a scaredy cat,” she says. As the series progresses, Loretta hopes that viewers will see more of the “real Grace…and how she’s “up for anything.”

Her sense of fun has endeared herself to Loose Women bosses who signed her up the show as a guest presenter shortly before her jungle stint.

And she brought her mum along with her to soak up the showbiz atmosphere.

“They treated me beautifully. I’ll always remember that. I am so proud of her, what an achievement,” she added.

She said on the show: “It was by accident I found Ella, through a mutual friend and then I really liked her the first day I met her but I’d never told my parents.

“I’d mentioned, ‘Oh I’m just going to see my friend Ella’ or ‘I’m staying round Ella’s’ so they’d heard her name.”

Speaking about a situation when her parents came down to her house to visit when Ella was there, they asked: “Who’s Ella?” and she told them: “Oh. she’s my girlfriend”. She explained to her campmates: “They just love her, they never had an issue with it….they’ve always said whoever you end up with we do not care, boy or girl we don’t care, as long as they’re not a d*ck.”
