I’m A Celebrity star Danny Jones ‘terribly ill’ after leaving jungle and ignoring doctor’s advice

McFly frontman Danny Jones has been enjoying life after the jungle but he has now shared an update with fans after he ‘went mad’ with his diet and ended up feeling ‘really ill’

Danny Jones has revealed that he ignored medical advice from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’s team after his jungle win, which resulted in him feeling extremely unwell.

The McFly lead singer was crowned king of the jungle last Sunday, beating out TV personality Coleen Rooney, who came in second place, and Reverend Richard Coles, who took third.

Danny’s victory in Australia is his third major win of the year, having previously triumphed on The Masked Singer and seen his protege Ava, coached alongside McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher, win ITV’s The Voice in October.

The 38-year-old described this period as a “crazy year”, admitting he had planned a six-month hiatus to move house before his tour next year but couldn’t pass up the chance to be on I’m A Celeb, reports the Manchester Evening News. His wife Georgia managed the relocation while he was competing in Australia.

Following his triumph, Danny took to social media for the first time since his win to express his gratitude. Posting a photo with his I’m A Celeb 2024 campmates on Instagram, Danny wrote: “A message from Danny… This was one of the hardest and most amazing things I have ever done in my life. I would have never been able to have the incredible experience I’ve had, without these people. The campmates made it for me.”

“A huge congratulations to my fellow finalists Col and Revvo,” he expressed, before hinting at his imminent return: “I’ll be back on my phone and socials very soon Love you all.”

The celeb circuit was quick to offer up their kudos with Oti Mabuse chiming in: “Jungle Family.” Maura Higgins excitedly proclaimed: “We love you,” while Danny’s camp buddy Melvin Odoom joined in with: “Camp Famalam! “.

Post-jungle life is just as full for Danny, as he recently shared that he flouted medical advice about his diet after the show. Kicking off with a sun-soaked snapshot, he captioned it: “Very happy king! Still can’t believe that you guys all voted for me. Feels surreal. It’s a proper top of the world feeling. Can’t wait to see you all in the UK soon.”

I went a bit mad. I had a banana bread sandwich with fruit, cream and maple syrup, it was amazing, and I also ordered a croissant with eggs, halloumi, avocado – epic! I had a right nice cuppa tea with that, then I had a vanilla milkshake.”

“Here’s where I slipped up the doc had warned me, ‘Go slow and small’ and did I listen? Not one bit. Paid for it later that night I was terribly ill, up all night. The next morning I took it easy with some fruit. And today? Feeling much better..”

He continued spilling details about his current eating habits and his seemingly insatiable desire for sweets and cups of tea. Danny also shared: “All in all, I think I’m through the other side. My stomach has shrunk massively but I feel like I’m eating better. Last night I had a bit of pasta, I didn’t eat it all, I shared it with my mum.

“I can’t eat a full bowl of pasta yet. I’m quite enjoying that to be honest with you because I used to eat too much anyway but it’s just the milkshakes and the crisps and the chocolate. It’s just going down so well. So I’ll let you know how today goes.”

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec was left stunned on Tuesday’s It Takes Two as he discovered a show first after 11 years on the competition

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec was left stunned on Tuesday’s It Takes Two over a surprise revelation.

Over the weekend, Aljaz, 34, and his celebrity dance partner Tasha Ghouri received a perfect score of 40 from the judges for their American Smooth to Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. The duo received a standing ovation as they achieved the series’ first 40.

Appearing on Tuesday’s It Takes Two, host Fleur East had a fun revelation for Aljaz after the incredible milestone. Fleur, 37, pointed out: “This was your third perfect score on the show, Aljaz. Your other two were with Abbey Clancy.”

Aljaz, who was paired with Abbey back in 2013 on series 11 and won the show with her, was left stunned at the detail as he remarked: “This is my first perfect score after Abbey Clancy?” to which Tasha asked: “How many years ago was that?” as Aljaz replied: “11 years ago!”

Asking if it still impacts him in the same way getting that perfect score, Aljaz admitted: “I think even more so!” he added: “I think it affects me even more because with Abbey Clancy it was my first season, everything comes so fast at you. You are choreographing dancers, they come and go so quickly.

“It’s all a bit of a blur but now doing it for ten years, I don’t know how hard it is to achieve that perfect score and I can’t believe it’s my third perfect score in the whole time I’ve been doing it. So thank you, Craig [Revel Horwood] mainly and the rest [of the judges].”

It comes as judge Anton du Beke was visibly moved as Tasha achieved the series’ first 40 over the weekend. Fellow judge Shirley Ballas remarked on Anton’s emotional display, saying: “This is the first time I’ve seen you cry, and you were very emotional.”

This is the point. People say why do you dance, and that’s why. We don’t dance for people to say we’re wonderful. We dance mostly for how it makes us feel.

“You’re extraordinary to watch. And Alijaz, I see you enjoying and I have the feeling myself when I dance … You want it go like that. Sometimes, it goes like that. This is what it’s all about. I watch you dance. I tried to find something I don’t like and I like it all.”

Winner Chris McCausland won’t be joining the tour and detailed the “emotional toll” the show had taken on him while speaking to ITV’s Lorraine. The comedian told stand-in presenter Ranvir Singh: “It’s been a really emotional Saturday night and I’m still feeling quite worn down by it. It’s been three and a half months; it’s relentless. It’s consuming – physically and mentally it takes a toll. This is what the show does, it wears you down physically and mentally and then it pokes you with a stick until you cry in front of everybody.
He added: ” I started my tour in January this year and I did the first leg until May and I was meant to be back out in September. We moved the dates to accommodate Strictly, so we just moved them to January. We had to move these dates to accommodate Strictly and it just wasn’t a consideration at the time…
“I don’t think anybody thought I would be any good at it. I don’t think they thought it, I don’t think I thought it. And in terms of going on tour in January, I didn’t think I’d be going on tour on the back of Strictly. I thought I’d have about two months off.”

  • ‘I auditioned for MasterChef with Gregg Wallace – the BBC got what they wanted’

‘I auditioned for MasterChef with Gregg Wallace – the BBC got what they wanted’

Gregg Wallace stepped down from MasterChef this week amid the ongoing controversy around allegations of alleged inappropriate behaviour on the BBC show

Gregg Wallace has presented MasterChef since 2005, but he wasn’t the BBC’s only choice for the role.

Before the former greengrocer, 60, who has stepped down from the show amid the ongoing controversy around allegations of inappropriate behaviour, became a household name on MasterChef, presenter Giles Coren was also up for the job.

Giles, who has presented BBC’s Amazing Hotels with MasterChef star, Monica Galetti, was called into do a screen test for the series back in 2004 alongside John Torode, who had already got the gig.

Admitting he didn’t really want to present that “c**p old show from the nineties” believing “it will never work”, Giles went along to audition anyway. However, after claiming he had zero chemistry with John, who he claimed “would stare blankly” while Giles delivered “pristine culinary witticism like something out of Oscar Wilde”, he was called a taxi home.

But then he saw Gregg on his way out, telling The Times: “When I was done, they called me a cab and as I sat waiting, a bald bloke with a very loud voice went through into the “studio”, shouting and laughing as he went. “Who’s that?” I asked. “That’s your competition,” they said. “He’s a greengrocer. Different sort of vibe.”

Giles continued: “The rest, of course, is … well, 20 years of melodramatically raised voices, fake jeopardy, irrelevant cooking and now poor old decent, baffled, wildly out-of-context Gregg hung out to dry by the BBC for being nothing more nor less than exactly what they were looking for. They didn’t want Oscar Wilde for John Torode’s foil in 2004, they wanted a greengrocer. And they got a greengrocer.”

MasterChef fans have called for the show to be taken off air amid the recent controversy surrounding Gregg. The dad-of-three has been accused of making “inappropriate sexual jokes” amongst other behavioural complaints. However, the presenter’s lawyer says: “It is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature”.

On Monday, the Peckham native apologised for his remarks suggesting complaints about his conduct came from “a handful of middle-class women of a certain age”. Taking to Instagram, he said: “I want to apologise for any offence that I caused with my post yesterday and any upset I may have caused to a lot of people.

“I wasn’t in a good headspace when I posted it, I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion, I felt very alone, under siege yesterday when I posted it. It’s obvious to me I need to take some time out, now while this investigation is under way. I hope you understand and I do hope you will accept this apology.”

Oti Mabuse broke down in tears when she learned that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkelman were set to leave their presenting roles on Strictly Come Dancing. The TV star, 35, used to serve as a professional dancer on the programme and now her sister Motsi, 44, is on the judging panel alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.

Even once the lunchtime ladies were presenting the programme, Oti struggled to keep it together as she paid tribute to her former co-stars. She said: “It’s a big deal, Claudia and Tess have been the queens. Two women side by side. And they care. ‘How’s your husband, how’s your child, family?’

“It’s the end of an era. They are my Saturday night. I think it’s a shame and it came out of nowhere.”

Oti was straight on the phone to her sister, who lives in Germany, and implied that even she had no idea that the news was coming and the two of them were left reeling by the ‘shock’ of it all.

She added: “I called my sister like ‘What the hell is that?’ and she’s like ‘You’re in England’ and I’m like ‘You’re a judge, you should know!’ We had two minutes in silence, it came out of nowhere and we were just in shock. It breaks my heart and I wish them luck.”

In the initial announcement, which consisted of a video of the pair sitting next to one another, Claudia began with: “Hi it’s Claud and Tess. There have been some rumblings and we want you to hear this from us…”

Tess added: “Yeah we have news. After 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly we have decided the time is right to step aside and pass on the baton…”

“The very sparkly baton…” Claudia continued before she turned to Tess and said: “You’ve been here since the beginning…”

Claudia added: “We have, we’re so lucky to have been part of this amazing show and we just want to thank the Strictly team because Strictly is the people who make it so thank you…” Tess agreed: “They are the very best team in television we’ve been so lucky.

Coleen Nolan has made a huge statement about the future of the Loose Women panel, as ITV prepares to cut the show’s budget and the number of weeks for which it runs during the year.

ITV announced earlier this year that Loose Women will only run for 30 weeks of the year from 2026 onwards. This comes as part of sweeping cuts being made by the network to cut costs, and many have wondered if this will push the celeb panel to leave.

Coleen, however, has insisted that none of the regulars are moving on. When asked if stars would be leaving, she said that there has been “no mention of it”.

In a conversation with Bella magazine, the 60-year-old star, who has been on the show since 2000, said: “No, [the producers] have just got to work it out, because we’ll only be on air for 30 weeks. But there’s no mention of anyone going.”

“We have to have a big pool of women,” she added. “Because a lot of us are mothers and grandmothers and have other jobs outside of it. That’s why it’s great – then they’ve always got cover.”

Coleen added that the atmosphere behind the scenes is “amazing again” as the panellists now have a clearer understanding of what is going on at ITV and what it means for the show.

    Coleen Nolan

    View 4 Images

She added that morale on the show was “amazing”(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)

“When it was first announced, morale was low, purely because of all the amazing people behind the scenes losing jobs,” she explained. “It was really sad, but now we all know what’s going on, the morale is amazing again.”

She also shot down any notion of fall-outs between the panellists. “The stories of backstage bickering are so fake. They’re like my second family, it’s like having extra sisters.”

Coleen first became famous as part of The Nolans, a girl group featuring the six Nolan sisters – Coleen, Maureen, Anne, Linda, Denise and Bernie. They had hits such as I’m In The Mood For Dancing and were a band from 1974 to 2005.

Four of the original members came back together in 2009 and planned a farewell tour in 2013, but it was cancelled due to the death of Bernie Nolan.

Earlier this year, Linda died of breast cancer. Coleen shared with Bella how that affected her. “I was in a really bad place. I lost my mojo, I didn’t want to do anything.” She later said that she was in therapy and that was the “best thing I’ve ever done”.

Gavin and Stacey finale not the end as Ruth Jones and James Corden announce 2025 project

Gavin and Stacey duo Ruth Jones and James Corden have announced that the beloved characters from the show will be making a comeback in a new form next year

Gavin and Stacey creators Ruth Jones and James Corden have revealed the sitcoms much-loved characters will return in a new form next year.

Gavin And Stacey: The Finale will air on Christmas Day on the BBC and it will be the show’s final episode following 2019’s festive special which ended on a cliff-hanger when Vanessa ‘Nessa’ Jenkins, played by Ruth, proposed to James’ character Neil ‘Smithy’ Smith.

But the story doesn’t end there! Ruth and James have announced that they are writing a new book together, titled When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything in Between: A Story Of Love And Friendship. The pair’s literary offering with hit book shops in Autumn 2025 and will detail their journey to creating a comedy that touched the hearts of a nations.

Speaking in the wake of the book deal being announced, Ruth, 48, and James, 46, told fans: “We’re so excited to be sharing the story behind the story of Gavin and Stacey. The show has played a huge part in our twenty-five-year friendship and we hope this book will give readers a fresh insight into how it all came about.”

“Gavin and Stacey is a TV series like no other. Now, for the first time, its creators James Corden and Ruth Jones tell the full extraordinary story of how they turned their little show into a full-on cultural phenomenon,” the book’s publisher Penguin added in its description of the upcoming book.

“As they recount the rejection, obstacles and challenges they faced on the way to giving birth to their beloved comedy creation, James and Ruth also explore the flourishing of their own real-life friendship. While their now legendary on- screen characters Nessa and Smithy had a profound awkwardness to negotiate, culminating in that marriage proposal in the 2019 Christmas special, Ruth and James forged a magical relationship of mutual support based also on a deep, shared sense of subversive fun.

“Here, from their tentative initial pitch to the emotionally overwhelming final day of filming, the duo detail what’s occurred every step of the way, bouncing off each other in inimitable style. Full of revelations and never-before-heard stories, this is a one-of-a-kind book about a show that’s already gone down in history.”

The book announcement comes in the wake of James admitting he “never ever thought” Gavin and Stacey would be a long-running show and that its success had been “a dream come true”. The 46-year-old added that just having a show that is “worthy of a Christmas special” was enough for him and that he thought ending at three series was the right decision.

Speaking at a screening in London earlier this week ahead of the Christmas Day episode airing, the Smithy actor said: “We’ve honestly never ever thought past what we’ve been commissioned to do, when we were writing the scripts for the first series, we didn’t know if the show would get green lit.

“Then it gets green lit, then you shoot it, and then you’re hoping that someone finds it, then you get to do another series. And then suddenly, as that one starts coming out, it feels like lots of people are watching it. And then we did the first Christmas special, which was just a dream come true for us, like an absolute dream come true, to have a show that was considered worthy of a Christmas special, that was enough for us is the truth.

“And then we really felt like we probably told enough of the story, and if we’re honest with ourselves, we were finding it hard to construct ways for the families to keep meeting up… And so I think when we ended the third series, it was definite that was it.”

He explained that a finale episode was not certain and there was a chance that he and co-writer Ruth would leave the show at its cliff-hanger ending. James added: “We had a week in September, where we were like let’s get together then, and if there’s nothing there, if the characters don’t show us what the story is, it doesn’t matter.

“We haven’t told anybody, we haven’t told the cast, we haven’t spoken to the BBC, and it’s kind of lovely hearing Charlotte (Moore, the BBC’s Chief Content Officer) talk about those moments. We didn’t contact Charlotte till we’ve written, I think 70 pages of this special, because by then we felt like, ‘oh, we’ve got something that we feel that we’re ready to share’. Because it may sound like a complete nonsense but it doesn’t really feel like we’re in charge of writing, I feel like we just have to be together, and we sort of open a portal and the characters arrive, and they tell us what they want everybody to know.”

*Gavin And Stacey: The Finale will air on BBC One from 9pm on Christmas Day and will also be available on BBC iPlayer. The documentary Gavin And Stacey: A Fond Farewell will be shown at 7pm on New Year’s Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

A tired and worn out Jane appeared on video call, and revealed who her winner of the 2024 series is. Jane insisted that none other than Coleen Rooney deserves to win the show in her eyes – after the pair cemented a close bond while in the jungle together.

At first, Jane admitted that she felt she couldn’t get too close to Coleen, 38, given that she was from a journalistic background. However, as the days went on, Jane found herself gravitating towards WAG Coleen more and more.

Lifting the lid on what Coleen is really like behind the scenes, Jane told her Loose Women co-stars that the mum-of-four is quite reserved and quiet in the jungle. “I now call her Col. We’re not Coleen anymore, we’re Col. She’s brilliant. She’s very quiet and quite reserved.

“I thought in the camp that I would quietly get to know her. I wanted her to come out of her shell a bit, and she did confide in me that she was a bit overwhelmed by all the big personalities in camp – which is understandable. I really think that she’s coming into her own now. She is such a grafter and I hope she wins.”

During Friday’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity, it was announced that Loose Women’s Jane was the first campmated voted off the new series of the ITV show. Jane spoke to Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly following her departure, describing her stint in the jungle as “such a weird and magical experience”.

Some viewers shared surprise over Jane’s departure, with a number of fans having called for radio host Dean to be the first campmate to go this week. One wrote: “Dean still in the jungle i cannot go on like this.” Another said: “Guys I thought we were getting rid of Dean… GUYS PLEASE I THOUGHT WE AGREED?!” A third teased: “The British public like to disappoint others don’t they. Dean was supposed to be the 1st gone. Then Jane.”

Whilst talking to Ant and Dec, Jane reflected on the experience of having been a campmate. When asked if she was disappointed to be first out, she responded: “No more washing up – yes!” She also stated that: “Hard work doesn’t get rewarded.”

During her stint in the jungle, Jane came under fire after she accused Barry McGuigan and Danny Jones of being “sexist” and “ageist” over a camp chore. Viewers were unconvinced by her tirade too after voting for her to do a bushtucker trial.

Reflecting, she said: “I collected the logs, I built the fire, I emptied the dunny, because my partner was Dean, who was on trials all the time. So I did it all on my own, put out the rubbish. I had three jobs. I worked like a dog, and then they gave me the washing up, which is a really tough job to go three times a day all the way to the bottom of the creek, lugging everything. I wasn’t pleased about that, to be honest. I said to Danny when he walked out: ‘don’t give me cleaning’.”

She added that she “can’t wait to get rid of the washing up,” adding: “I’m never washing up again, ever. Yeah, it’s been hard work down there this year.” Jane backed Melvin Odoom or Coleen Rooney to win as they work hard in camp. She said: “I think Melvin is an absolute slogger. He’s very quiet. He doesn’t push himself forward. Colleen is another one. So they keep everything going. They’re not flamboyant but they’re solid.”

[…] I’ve never been so soaked in all my life, constantly. But you know, all of those guys in there are absolutely wonderful people. I’ve loved getting to know them all by asking them questions.”

Speaking about her departure, Ant said that he wasn’t surprised she had left. He said on Unpacked: “I’m not surprised because I think she hit the nail on the head [saying she had kept her head down and just did chores].” He suggested that campmates who have that approach don’t get the same amount of air time.

The actor, who joined the ITV soap at the age of 16 in 1998, has signed a new deal with the show, which will see him playing Tyrone Dobbs throughout the entirety of 2025.

Reflecting on these fascinating chats and the news he’ll be playing the beloved character for at least another year, Alan said: ‘I’ve spoken a lot in camp of how humbling it is to be a very small part of Coronation Street.

‘To know that I’ve got a contract that will take me through that is incredibly humbling and proud for me and also proud for my family, being from Salford, growing up Coronation Street fans.

He continued to The Sun: ‘I’m thrilled to bits. That’s the job I love, so long may it continue. I’ll maybe have a couple of pints of Guinness to toast it.’
