Fame, pain, resilience — the Ross household has seen it all 💔✨👇

Jonathan Ross has been a major TV personality since the 1980s but he isn’t the only famous face in his household

Jonathan Ross has been a prominent figure in the television industry since the 1980s, but he’s not the only star in his family.

The beloved TV personality first graced our screens back in 1987 with The Last Resort with Jonathan Ross on Channel 4. Since then, he’s hosted a plethora of shows, including his long-standing chat show and is readying to dazzle Traitors fans in the first ever celebrity special.

His work in television, radio presenting, and advertising has amassed him a considerable fortune, with an estimated net worth of £30 million.

Off-screen, he enjoys a blissful family life with his wife of nearly 27 years, screenwriter Jane Goldman, with the pair exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony back in 1988 when she was just 18 years old.

The pair who now share three children together – Betty Kitten, 33, Harvey Kirby, 31, and Honey Kinney, 28, – met when Jonathan was 26 and Jane 16, when she was working as a showbiz journalist.

Despite the many highs the celebrity couple has faced, there has been an equal measure of lows when their marriage hit the rocks.

Jane and Jonathan split in 1999

In 1999, the marital bliss hit rocky ground as Jane’s battle with depression and a subsequent breakdown which required treatment at the Priory Clinic. This lead to the couple taking some time apart from one another.

At the time, their joint statement read: “Jane, who suffers from depression, recently had a breakdown for which she checked into the Priory Clinic for treatment.

“As a result of this very stressful period a great deal of strain has been put on the marriage. Jane and Jonathan’s main concern at the moment is the happiness and security of their children.”

Middle child Harvey is the least known family member and tends to avoid the public eye as much as possible. But more recently, he did bask in the spotlight next to his father and sister Honey, on the set of Celebrity Gogglebox.

Despite Harvey intending to keep a low profile and private matters under wraps, his dad and sister accidentally spilled details that he was due to be married soon.

During an episode of the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, with Honey also making a guest appearance with her famous dad, they began to discuss homelife and talk soon turned to Harvey.

Jonathan couldn’t resist a playful dig at his son’s hair maintenance habits, he joked: “Harvey has got the longest hair in the family, and largely unwashed. He doesn’t wash it often because he’s part of that gang who think you shouldn’t use soaps.”

Honey, slipping in a celebratory note, revealed: “He did just get engaged!” with Jonathan hinting at future family plans saying: “They’re thinking of starting a family next year.”

    Betty’s serious health issues

Meanwhile eldest daughter Betty, has been tackling serious health problems and has been brave enough to open up about her struggles, this following a fibromyalgia diagnosis in 2021.

Jane and Jonathan’s eldest daughter was later diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and postural tachycardia syndrome, a condition that causes a rapid increase in heart rate upon standing, often resulting in dizziness. Due to all of her individual conditions, Betty now needs to reply on an electric wheelchair for mobility.

Jonathan has never shied away from sharing his support and admiration, commenting to the Express: “It’s been a tough couple of years for her [Betty] in particular, but she is getting slowly better.”

Honey is a star in her own right and fronts her own podcast

Their youngest daughter, Honey, is a model and an advocate for body positivity. She also co-hosts a podcast with her famous father called Reel Talk, where they chat about their favourite TV shows and films. Recently, she shared her distress over her family’s “overexposure” on the show.

She has previously opened up about her struggles with self-esteem and during a stint on Loose Women, she urged other parents not to put their children on diets, stating: “They saw me, a teenage girl, coming home saying, ‘I hate my body’, They tried to give me solutions to a problem I brought to them, which was to lose weight.

“They presented me with diets and diets, as we know, don’t work and are absolutely toxic. My advice to parents is keep that as far away from your children as possible, if you want them to have a good relationship with food and their bodies growing up do not shame them.”

In addition to his numerous pets and children, Jonathan’s brother Paul also gained recognition as a TV presenter on Channel 4’s popular breakfast show The Big Breakfast, among other telly stints.

Katie Piper has spoken candidly about turning 40 – a milestone she once thought she would never reach following a near-fatal acid attack in 2008

Loose Women star ‘never thought she’d make it to 40’ after devastating attack

Broadcaster and campaigner Katie Piper has described turning 40 as a milestone she never expected to reach, reflecting on the traumatic events that nearly claimed her life 17 years ago.

In an interview with The Times, the Loose Women panellist said she was surprised by the negative societal attitudes surrounding women ageing, particularly given the life-threatening ordeal she endured in her twenties.

“It was quite shocking for me, because turning 40 was only ever positive,” Piper said. “It was a celebration of my life and reaching a milestone I never thought I’d reach.”

Piper was 24 when she suffered life-changing injuries in an acid attack orchestrated by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, in March 2008. Just two days after Lynch raped and stabbed her, he arranged for 19-year-old Stefan Sylvestre to throw sulphuric acid in her face.

The attack left Piper with extensive burns and permanent damage, including the loss of her nose, part of her ear, her eyelids, and partial vision in one eye. She was treated at a specialist burns unit in London, where surgeons performed pioneering reconstructive procedures, including the UK’s first use of a skin substitute to rebuild her face.

Her injuries also required extensive surgery to her mouth and tongue. Despite the severity of her injuries, Piper has since gone on to build a successful career in broadcasting and advocacy.

In the years following the attack, she waived her right to anonymity and told her story in the Channel 4 documentary Katie: My Beautiful Face, which brought national attention to the issue of acid attacks.

In 2009, she founded The Katie Piper Foundation, which supports burns survivors through rehabilitation and care. In 2022, she was awarded an OBE for her services to charity and victims of burns and other disfigurements.

She joined the panel of ITV’s Loose Women in 2021 and previously competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. Piper has also published a best-selling autobiography and continues to use her platform to raise awareness about visible difference and resilience.

While acknowledging that her public profile stemmed from the attack, Piper emphasised that she does not want her achievements to be defined by it.

“It’s not like I’m an actress or a pop star,” she said. “I came to public attention as a news story, as a victim of a violent crime. I hope, 17 years on, I’m doing something different, but I think it’s probably unfair of me to say, ‘I don’t want to talk about the burns and the attack anymore.’”

She added: “I think it’s more that I don’t want to attribute my success [since] to that man’s actions against me.”

Piper said her continued success should instead be credited to her own resilience and hard work. “If I’m seen on Loose Women laughing about something entirely different or presenting a totally different show, the public starts to accept visibly different people doing lots of different things. And that is when inclusion and acceptance happen,” she said.

Since her recovery, Piper has married carpenter Richard Sutton, with whom she shares two daughters, Belle, 11, and Penelope, 7. The couple had hoped to have a third child but had to reconsider after Piper underwent emergency eye surgery.

Reflecting on the early assumptions made about her future, Piper said she was once expected to live a limited life. “For a long time, it was assumed that I’d be dependent on [my] parents and have a mediocre existence,” she said. “I had to write the rule book for me.”

Daniel Lynch was convicted of rape, grievous bodily harm, and actual bodily harm, and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years. Sylvestre received a life sentence with a minimum of six years and was released in 2018 after serving nine years. Lynch is expected to appear before a parole board next month.

Piper continues to campaign for greater understanding and support for those living with visible differences and remains committed to using her platform to foster greater inclusivity and resilience in public life.

ITV Daytime has been rocked by reports in the past week of major changes – with crew fearing for their jobs after some shows were revealed to be set for major cuts

Lorraine Kelly is tipped to walk away from her ITV daytime show at the end of 2026

Lorraine Kelly is tipped to quit her morning ITV show at the end of next year following a major shakeup to the daytime schedule. Reports over the past week have announced that major changes are on the way at ITV after decades of a fixed schedule.

Fans of TV have watched Good Morning Britain from 6am every week day before the show seamlessly moves into the Lorraine show at 9am. This Morning follows at 10am – with Loose Women taking over at 12:30pm.

But now the schedule is set for a major shake-up – and there are suggestions there is furore behind the scenes as Lorraine’s show is set to endure some of the most brutal changes. Instead of airing every week, the show is to be stripped back to just half the year.

And the long-runing show will be reduced to just half an hour. Now a report has suggested Lorraine will walk away from the show altogether by the end of next year.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Lorraine was asked if she wanted to retire, having just celebrated her 40 years on breakfast TV, but she instead chose to see out her contract.

    The Loose Women stars

Loose Women is also due for major changes(Image: ITV)

“Bosses thought it would be an ideal opportunity for her to spend more time with family, especially given how little she was on her own show last year. Many think it is unlikely she will stay on after her current contract and that is further proven by the fact that the boss of her show will be part-time and on a one-year contract.

“She is a hugely valued member of the ITV history and is likely to do other shows at the channel, with some thinking she may explore documentaries, travelogues and passion projects.” The Mirror has contacted a representative of Lorraine for comment.

The Sun’s claims come days after The Mirror first reported rumours Lorraine could quit her show. The presenter is said to have been left devastated by the scale of job losses set to hit the programme which is set to be slashed from an hour to 30minutes. It will also now only air for 30 weeks out of 52.

A source said: “There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines. It’s hard to see how standards won’t fall….and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. Lorraine and her team are perfectionists – it’s why the show is loved by so many.”

The source said the move was a “kick in the teeth” especially given ITV was crowing this week about the show amassing its highest ratings for four years.

A second insider added: “This is a presenter who has just come back from having an operation, has won a BAFTA, is enjoying record ratings….and then ITV show their appreciation by yanking her off air half the year. Staff are beside themselves, and have been in tears constantly. It doesn’t make any sense given the trajectory the show is on.”

The extreme cuts and changes at ITV are said to be planned in an effort to cut costs at the broadcaster. Other shows to face radical changes in recent months include the iconic soap Coronation Street – which has also seen high profile cast members leave and reports of episode numbers getting cut.

This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary weren’t invited to Nick Ferrari’s wedding

This Morning contributor Nick Ferrari has revealed more details about his wedding to long-time partner Clare Goodwin – and given hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond a tongue-in-cheek answer for why they didn’t make the guest list.

The 66-year-old married radio producer Clare, 51, in August, with Loose Women’s Myleene Klass and ex GMB star Piers Morgan attending the French ceremony. I’m A Celebrity winner Christopher Biggins officiated the big day, while Myleene played Humming Class from Italian opera Madame Butterfly on the harp.

Appearing on the show in-person for the first time since the wedding, Nick opened up about his big day, saying: “What a lucky girl she is.” However, Dermot was quick to point out that their invite never arrived.

“Congratulations on your wedding. Imagine my surprise then Alison, when I flicked through and I thought, ‘You know what, you wouldn’t be expected to be invited to Nick’s wedding,’” Dermot said.

“Imagine my surprise then when I flicked through and saw what I can only describe as the Rogues’ gallery of people who made the cut. Klass I get, Biggins on the end, Morgan on the other end,” he said, with the others laughing.

Alison asked what Piers did at the ceremony, with Nick responding: “He read a passage from the Bible on humility. Truth!” Alison responded: “I could have read from the Bible!” to which Nick said: “I know, but you were more expensive.”

“I would have done that for free,” Alison insisted. “Weddings and funerals! It looks like a beautiful day as well, sunshine and everything.”

Dermot added: “We’re fine with it. I bet the menu was amazing as well.”

Nick also opened up about the moment he fell in love with Claire, telling the This Morning stars: “Myleene played the humming chorus from Madame Butterfly because I was sitting next to her at the Royal Albert Hall when I turned to her and said, ‘I think I’m falling helplessly in love with you.’

“As the humming chorus played so Myleene learnt that. Thanks very much.”

Some viewers weren’t too impressed with the item however, with some urging the presenters to “move on” after covering the wedding on the show several times.

One viewer jested: “Has Nick got married? #thismorning.” Another vented: “Still circulating Ferrari’s wedding photos get over it! #thismorning.”

  • Corrie and Emmerdale face big changes as ITV turns spotlight on soap budgets

Corrie and Emmerdale face big changes as ITV turns spotlight on soap budgets

ITV’s beloved soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale could be next in line for cutbacks, with insiders warning budget pressures and schedule shifts may change the shows as we know them

Fears for legacy soaps amidst ITV cutbacks on daytime television

After ITV’s daytime television shakeup, it’s feared the axe could fall again, with the channel’s beloved soaps rumoured to be next on the chopping block.

A TV insider confided to The Sun: “After the Daytime announcement, the big feeling within the soap departments at ITV is the cost-cutting focus will shift to them. There’s been some seismic changes already over the past year regarding penny pinching, and many believe that’s just the start.”

Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have long been untouchable jewels in ITV’s legacy. However, it seems the soaps are more exposed than ever before.

Staff are wondering if Emmerdale and Corrie will soon share more than just a time slot

    View 3 Images

“Given the big audience figures and institutional history within ITV, soaps used to have an untouchable feel about them,” the source added. “But that’s changed significantly, and they now feel more vulnerable than ever.”

From January 2026, both shows will be trimmed to five 30-minute episodes per week, dropping an hour of soap content. The rebrand? ITV’s so-called “Power Hour”, with Emmerdale airing at 8 pm and Corrie following at 8:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

While bosses have pitched the shake-up as a bold new chapter, it’s far from a smooth sell behind the scenes. The move is expected to cut up to 75 jobs, and many crew members have reportedly already been drafted into redundancy meetings.

Both soaps are now overseen by the same Creative Director adding fuel to rumours of further mergers

    View 3 Images

The retirement of John Whiston, ITV’s veteran Head of Continuing Drama, has only added to the uncertainty. In his place, Iain MacLeod has been promoted to Creative Director, overseeing both soaps with full editorial control.

The consolidation has sparked fears of a quiet merger behind the scenes. With MacLeod now the final voice on both shows, staff are wondering if Emmerdale and Corrie will soon share more than just a time slot.

Adding fuel to the fire is the much-talked-about crossover episode, the first of its kind set to air as a one-off launch for the new schedule. Although ITV execs have insisted the crossover is a one-off, an insider has told The Sun that this episode will be a mini cost-cutting experiment to see if the crew can work across both soaps.

These claims have been strongly denied by ITV. An ITV spokeswoman said: “These claims aren’t true. ITV has been clear that the crossover episode is a one-off occasion to launch the new scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale in January 2026. Both programmes will then continue to broadcast separate, individual episodes. The crossover episode will be purely story-driven and is a first for British Soap.

“The idea certainly hasn’t been conceived for financial reasons. In fact, the spectacular combined launch episode will cost a great deal more than regular episodes. We are proud to have the opportunity to be able to deliver this special moment for fans of both programmes.”

Despite ITV’s denials, there is scepticism. The TV insider said this is a “genuine glimpse into the future of how crewmembers will be expected to work, being across both soaps”, adding: “there’s a feeling significant savings could be made on production costs even if the quality of the output will be seriously affected.”

Another source told the publication that cast members on both soaps were “fuming and concerned by cuts.” Earlier this year, The Sun revealed that Corrie bosses had tightened the purse strings by reducing cast appearances to curb fees, favouring fresher, lower-cost faces over older stars.

The daytime television cull at ITV has definitely blindsided many people, with Loose Women and Lorraine scaled back drastically, despite solid ratings and recent accolades.

Once upon a time, soaps were ITV’s proudest exports. However, they may soon be second-tier citizens, with the focus shifting to prestige dramas like Mr Bates vs. The Post Office and sporting events, which are both revenue drivers.

Like the Daytime shows, some fear that Emmerdale and Corrie might soon find themselves fighting for survival.

Gogglebox’s Amy Tapper issues weight loss jab warning despite plans to stay on it

Amy Tapper, who is best known for starring on Channel 4’s Gogglebox, has revealed her plans to stay on weight loss jab mounjaro ‘for life’ after losing seven stone

Amy Tapper has revealed her plans to stay on weight loss jab Mounjaro ‘for life’. The TV star, 26, who is best known for appearing on the Channel 4 reality show Gogglebox, has lost seven stone since combining doses of the controversial drug with diet and exercise over the course of the last year.

During an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Amy admitted: “That is what I’ve been advised by my doctor. Because I think a lot of the way that people look at the injection is as a quick fix.

“And it is, it’s very quick, but it’s not fixing you forever. The minute you come off of it, my body is going to start doing what it was doing before which means, yeah, I will be on it for life. We’ll look through it and we’ll see as we go along, we don’t know what can happen but I’m on the highest dose at the moment.”

ITV Daytime star Dr Amir Khan was listening into the conversation, and he acknowledged that Amy had a ‘compelling story’ to tell with her health journey but did insist that two years was the maximum time an individual should take the injection for in general.

He added: “That two years gives an ample time to make those changes perhaps, with movement, the sleep, the stress that all contribute to weight.”

“In my opinion, I think that if you don’t have more than about three stone to lose, I just don’t think you need to be on it because a lot of that will be excess weight. I think people have forgotten what an old-fashioned diet and exercise is. We went through such a body positivity stage, and now it’s gone back to ‘Let’s all be stick thin again!’

“I’m not doing this for an aesthetic look or anything. I was so used to being overweight if that’s the way it was going to be, then that was the way it was going to be.

When asked about the benefits the weight loss has had on her mental health, Amy admitted that it has allowed her to stop thinking about things the way she used to and she is now in a ‘peaceful’ place within her own head.

She said: “It’s peaceful, that’s what it is. Being on a diet all my life, going out with friends, I have to look at the menu, make sure I can eat there. I don’t have to think about anything. I’m sure I’ll find something, I just don’t have to think about it and my whole head is just peaceful.”

Amy has made no secret about her weight loss method. Speaking to The Sun, she disclosed she received assistance from Mounjaro, explaining she “felt there was nothing else I could do”.

Amy shared: “I’m fitting into size 18 clothes for the first time since I was 15 or 16 – it’s hard for me to believe. It’s changed my life. I went to the theatre the other night and when I sat down, my thighs weren’t touching the person next to me, or the sides of the chairs. I had room.”

However, Amy pointed out: “I get annoyed though that some people call it the ‘lazy way out’. I don’t want people to think that I’ve sat around for the last 17 years of my life not trying to lose weight.

“I want people to know that this has been my only option to get this far.”

After 45 years of heartbreak, Paula finally comes face to face with the son she was forced to give up. In a raw, emotional reunion, she discovers he kept the name Paul—just as promised. Their story is proof that even the deepest wounds can still find healing.

After nearly 45 years, Paula finally finds the son she was forced to give up as a teenager because she lived in a home that wasn’t safe…

Choked with emotion and unable to speak, this is the heartrending moment when a mother is told the son she gave up nearly 45 years ago has finally been found. In powerful scenes to be screened on ITV ’s Long Lost Family tonight, 64-year-old Paula is told by Davina McCall : “I’ve got a bit of news for you, your son has been found.” Teaching assistant Paula is at first speechless as she gently shakes her head, before finally saying: “I don’t believe that… I just don’t quite… is it real?”

Not only that, Paula discovers that the couple who adopted her baby stayed true to their word, having promised to name him Paul, in honour of his birth mother.

Paula grew up in Liverpool and had a difficult childhood. Her parents were hard working but also heavy drinkers. She says: “In every single way, we were neglected. Rats in the kitchen, dirty dishes and clothes everywhere. There was verbal abuse, physical abuse. You’re supposed to be safe at home. And unfortunately, it was a place where we were frightened.”

At 19, Paula found some respite when she got a summer job as a barmaid at a local holiday camp, where she met a boy. But when she fell pregnant, her boyfriend disappeared.

Paula was frightened of bringing her child home to her chaotic and volatile family life. She decided early on that she should place her child for adoption, but it was not an easy decision. In 1980, she gave birth to a boy that she called Lee.

She tearfully recalls: “He was tiny and his hair was silver-blonde and he stayed with me for two days. He was wrapped up at the side of my bed. I was just looking at him thinking ‘I’m so sorry but you can’t stay with me.’”

Lee was placed into care after just two days. Paula was heartbroken. A few weeks later, her social worker called unexpectedly. A couple were very keen to adopt Lee, and she wondered if Paula would like to meet them.

Paula recalls how nice the couple were, and that they said that they would call their new baby Paul, in honour of her. Forty-five years later, Paula still wonders if she made the right choice. Was Paul happy growing up?

Incredibly, the Long Lost Family team find Paula’s son still living in Liverpool, and true to their word, the couple who adopted him called him Paul. Paul is now a university lecturer who has been married to Owen for over twenty years.

When Nicky meets Paul, he tells him that his birth mother Paula made the right choice – he had a wonderful childhood and is very close to his family. He shares that he has always wondered what his birth mother looked like and if she would ever come looking.

He confides in Nicky Campbell: “If I only get to say ‘Thank you for everything that you’ve given me’, that will make me happy and content.”

When Davina tells Paula that her son has been found, she confirms that his adoptive parents did call him Paul. An emotional Paula, so grateful that he’s been located, says: “I never ever thought that this would happen.” When they meet in the centre of Liverpool, Paul sees his birth mother and immediately notices that the physical similarity is uncanny.

He says: “I’m definitely yours.” Paula says: “My hope is for him to continue with his life and for me to be a little part of that. That’s enough for me.”

Dec, 50, has been celebrating the milestone occasion whilst filming the new series of I’m A Celebrity … South Africa abroad with his presenting partner Ant, 49. A second series of the I’m A Celebrity spin-off was announced earlier this month and they have been out in South Africa since then.

Ant paid tribute to Dec on Instagram this morning, with him writing on their joint account: “Happy Birthday to the littler one from the only slightly bigger one. Love ya!” A video of him giving Dec some presents has since been shared.

The video showed Dec being gifted two personalised t-shirts. One of them featured photos of his daschund Rocky, whilst the other had photos of Ant on it. He then modelled them and it was teased that his co-star’s wife Anne-Marie Corbett would end up with the second t-shirt instead.

Ant began the video by telling their fans: “You probably know it’s coming up to Dec’s big birthday. We’re not allowed to mention the number – just that it’s a big birthday!” He was then seen heading outside to give Dec his presents.

After it was teased that his pal isn’t “allowed” to mention his age, Dec confirmed: “No.” Ant then said he was celebrating a “big birthday” this year, to which Dec replied: “Not that big!” Ant added: “So you get not one, but two presents.”

Dec was then presented with two gifts covered in dog-themed wrapping paper. Ant said as he opened the first one: “I think you’re gonna like it a lot.” He added: “I had to source pictures. I had to do research. I had to get it sent away. It’s just arrived, all the way out here, in South Africa.”

The present was then revealed to be a personalised t-shirt with ‘Rocky’ on the front and several photos of Dec’s dog. Dec laughed before saying: “Oh, I love it.” Ant said: “See, I knew you’d like it. Happy birthday! And, I’ve got one that’s even better than your dog.”

Dec said that he suspected it must be a t-shirt with photos of the two children he shares with his wife Ali Astall on the front of it. He said to Ant: “It must be the kids. A really nice t-shirt with the kids on. That is lovely. Thank you.”

It was however revealed to be a t-shirt with ‘Anthony’ written on the front above several photos of Ant. Dec’s pal reacted once it was opened: “It’s me!” Dec was seen laughing to himself as Ant told him: “So when we’re not working together, you can have me on your t-shirt and then hopefully nobody will call you Ant from now on.”

Dec responded: “Oh yeah, that’s good.” Ant said: “So if you wear that, no one will ever get you confused ever again. Do you like it?” Dec told him: “I do like it.” Ant then teased: “Are you trying to say it’s ugly? Because if you are, then you’re saying I’m ugly. And I know you wouldn’t say I’m ugly.”

His pal, who said that he didn’t think it was “ugly,” however opted to hold up the t-shirt featuring Rocky instead, before saying: “I really like that one.” He then teased he would try it on and was later seen modelling the t-shirt.

Ant reacted: “It fits – look at that!” He then brought the other t-shirt over Dec and said: “At least hold it up!” Ant added: “If you don’t want it, I’ll give it to the wife.” Dec said: “She will love it.” Ant replied: “Yeah, okay, I’ll give it to the wife.”

Martine McCutheon isn’t too happy to see the back of summer. This morning, the former EastEnders actress shared an online plea for more sun.

The mum-of-one, 49, took to social media to share a topless snap as she mourned the sunny days coming to an end. Posing in black bikini bottoms and a phone cleverly concealing her bare chest, Martine told her Instagram followers: “Take me back to the sun and sea…”

“This lady needs her vitamin D.” The Love Actually actress added a string of summer-related emojis to her saucy Instagram Story.

Martine has had a rocky year. Not only is the former soap star in the process of divorcing husband Jack McManus after 18 years of marriage, Martine has also had to contend with being declared bankrupt for a second time and her estranged mother speaking out.

Jenny Tomlin was once inseparable from her famous daughter, but a sudden family bereavement caused a heartbreaking rift. In July, she disclosed how she’s longing for a reunion with Martine.

Their bond apparently began crumbling following the tragic passing of Martine’s brother Laurence John in 2022. In a heart-wrenching interview with OK! Magazine, Jenny confessed that she was the one to blame for the breakdown of her relationship with Martine.

She revealed that she had an emotional breakdown and ended up pushing Martine away. She reminisced: “We did all the wonderful stuff – the premiere of Love Actually, the restaurants – but the memories I cherish are of us just sitting on my bed, bringing up old memories and laughing. I miss that.”

Jenny further explained her state of mind during that difficult period: “When I lost LJ, I detached. I was so heartbroken I couldn’t talk to Martine. There was no big row – Martine tried to contact me for months, but I didn’t answer. Martine was grieving and needed me, too. I want the chance to say sorry. I miss her so much – it physically hurts.”

In a surprising turn of events last year, the pair reunited when Martine asked Jenny if her husband could do “some painting” in her new home.

Jenny seized this opportunity to visit her daughter in hopes of repairing their strained relationship. However, the reunion felt “awkward” and “the atmosphere felt heavy.”

Despite her efforts to reach out through calls, texts, and cards, Jenny said she has received no response from her daughter. She even drove to her house and shouted her name, only to be met with silence.

Earlier this year, Martine was declared bankrupt, as per court documents, following a petition for insolvency over a debt to a finance company. This comes on the heels of her having to reduce the asking price of her gorgeous Surrey mansion.

A court document reveals that the insolvency order was issued on 31 March this year, just a few months after she announced the end of her 18-year marriage to Jack. The couple share a 10-year-old son, Rafferty.

The bankruptcy ruling, which was issued under her married name of Martine McManus, was made in March at the County Court in Guildford following a petition filed by a company named LDF Finance.

This isn’t the first occasion Martine has faced bankruptcy. Despite previously boasting an estimated £2million fortune, she was made bankrupt in 2013 after accumulating debts of approximately £187,000, including a hefty HMRC bill worth roughly £150,000. Just 12 months later, she was released from bankruptcy and became financially stable.

Martine and her ex-husband spent a staggering £1.3million on their former matrimonial home, a detached house in Surrey, just three years ago.

Last year, the former pair revealed they had chosen to separate after 18 years together. Announcing their breakup on social media, she stated, “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it’s best for us to separate after 18 years together, and I accept his decision.

“I continue to send Jack all the love, luck and happiness for the next chapter of his life.” The split announcement came just weeks after they put their £1.5million home up for sale.

Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez are ready to take a huge step in their relationship as they have decided to work together again. The Hollyoaks star, 40, met the professional dancer, 35, when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.

They discovered sparks between them when they both embarked on the Strictly Live tour and carried on their romance away from the show. Gorka and Gemma announced their engagement on Valentine’s Day in 2021, having already welcomed their daughter Mia two years earlier.

The couple have since had son Thiago but are yet to tie the knot in their busy lives. Now, it seems things are going to get even busier for the pair as they have launched their very own podcast, Lost in Translation.

Gemma and Gorka are releasing their own podcast

Gemma and Gorka are set to spill all on their day-to-day lives as they juggle two children and their work schedules. The pair have the added pressure of language and cultural differences, which means they don’t always see eye to eye.

They will also offer a helping hand to others in similar situations as they prepare to offer advice to their listeners. Following the announcement, Gorka said: “Gemma and I are different, but that’s what makes us work.

We bicker, we laugh, and we always find a way through. We hope Lost in Translation makes people feel less alone in their own relationship dilemmas and brings a smile to their faces.”

Gemma added: “We wanted to create something really authentic that parents and couples can relate to. Life with two kids and conflicting schedules is always an adventure, and Gorka and I definitely have our moments!

“This podcast is about embracing those differences and finding the funny side.” Bauer Media Audio’s Chief Creative Officer, Lucie Cave explained: “I’ve been wanting to do something with Gemma and Gorka for a long time, and it was just a matter of timing – and persuading them to let us into their world.

“Their brilliant and hilarious family dynamics, the things they bicker about, agree on, or lose in translation, make them endlessly entertaining, relatable and warm. We’re so excited to welcome them into the Bauer family.

“We’ve already had huge success with Gemma’s Overshare podcast, and this feels like the next stage in her podcasting journey – I can’t wait to see where it goes.” The podcast will kick off on October 22.

Last week, Gemma revealed the couple might be getting closer to setting a wedding date. She previously expressed reluctance about getting hitched without her late father there to walk her down the aisle, but it seems wedding bells might be ringing soon following a change of heart.

Gemma explained: “We’ve toyed about doing it in Spain, so his family can come, and we’ve even thought about doing it in a registry office or a hotel in Manchester, just the two of us, and then have a big party after.”

“But I think now we want to wait until Thiago is a bit older, so maybe next year or the year after, as he’s only two. If he’s a bit older, he could be involved in it, which would be really nice,” she told The Express.
