Prince William’s friend gives brutal verdict on Prince Harry after BBC interview

Prince Harry faced even more stinging criticism for his tell-all BBC interview, with a source accusing him of having “no interest in reconciling” with the rest of the Royal Family

A friend of Prince William has branded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s conduct as “absolutely vile” in the wake of Harry’s explosive BBC interview last week.

The Duke of Sussex, who recently lost his court appeal over security rights during UK visits, sat down with the BBC for a chat that sent shockwaves through the globe and the Royal Family.

In addition to expressing his disappointment at the Court of Appeal’s decision, Harry also discussed feeling “singled” out regarding his diminished security, with the changes implemented in 2020 – the same year he and Meghan stepped back from Royal duties and relocated to the US.

He also suggested that his father, the King, could have “resolved” the situation.

Despite casting the royals in an unfavourable light, Harry also expressed he would “love” to rebuild bridges with his family, hinting at concerns over how much time his father has left to live.

While William has remained silent on his younger brother’s interview, friends close to the Prince of Wales told US media outlet The Daily Beast that Harry and Meghan’s behaviour has been “absolutely vile” and suggested that Harry’s interview demonstrated “he has no interest in reconciling”.

A friend of William commented: “If he did, a period of silence would have been the right thing to do.”

William, the King and other senior royals have maintained their public duties since Harry’s interview, presenting a united front, reports the Express.

While Harry’s recent interview might not have been well-received by his brother, it is understood that their communication has been strained ever since Harry published his memoir Spare earlier in 2023.

Harry, who has lived in California for the past five years, hinted at the chasm his book caused during his BBC interview. He divulged: “Of course some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course they will never forgive me for lots of things. But I would love reconciliation with my family.”

Furthermore, Harry voiced that his legal battle regarding his UK security arrangements is another reason behind the family feud, alleging that his father, the King, “won’t speak” to him about it.

Buckingham Palace issued a response following Harry’s explosive interview last week. However, the statement steered clear of addressing any specific allegations about familial tensions and instead centred on the Duke’s ongoing legal case concerning his security provision.

The official statement read: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

Kate Middleton’s emotional VE Day tribute as Kensington Palace issues new update

The Prince and Princess of Wales joined the King and Queen for a moving VE Day service at Westminster Abbey today, with Kate paying a touching tribute to those who died in the Second World War as she left the ceremony

The Princess of Wales made a moving gesture at the end of a special service at Westminster Abbey to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Kate and husband, Prince William, had joined the Royal Family, including the King and Queen, for the service of thanksgiving honouring the sacrifices of those who brought peace to Europe 80 years ago.

A national two minutes silence was observed before the simple ceremony, and among the congregation were veterans of the conflict who helped to defeat fascism on the continent during a war that lasted almost six years. At the end of the ceremony, all of the royals, including Kate, spent time with veterans and their families as they made their way out of the Abbey.

The princess, in an Alexandra Rich dress and earrings that belonged to Princess Diana, crouched down to meet one woman, holding her hand as she chatted to the veteran, who was wearing medals and sat in her wheelchair. William was seen warmly placing his hand on one veteran’s shoulder as he chatted to the former serviceman who stood to speak with the prince and Kate.

Then, as is tradition, a young girl presented Kate with a posy of colourful flowers as she made her way out of the building. But in a moving tribute, she left the flowers at the large circular slate Innocent Victims’ Memorial outside the abbey on departure, as did the Queen.

The blooms were picked yesterday within the walls of Windsor Castle and the surrounding estate. They included rosemary for remembrance, oak for endurance and bluebells, which traditionally represent gratitude.

Kate’s gesture comes as it has been revealed that both she and William will now join Charles and Camilla at Horse Guards Parade for a special concert tonight. The VE Day party, presented by Zoe Ball, will feature performances by The Darkness, Toploader, and classical singer Sir Willard White.

The likes of Samantha Barks, Fleur East, John Newman, Calum Scott and a host of other performers are also set to take to the stage, while the professionals of Strictly Come Dancing will also be performing.

Actor Timothy Spall began VE Day commemorations in London on Monday by reading extracts of then Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill’s victory speech to the nation on May 8 1945. Monday also saw a military procession and flypast in central London, as well as a street party held at Downing Street.

Pubs and bars have been granted permission to stay open for longer to mark the anniversary. Venues in England and Wales which usually close at 11pm tonight will be able to keep serving for an extra two hours to celebrate.

Churches and cathedrals across the country will ring their bells as a collective act of thanksgiving at 6.30pm, echoing the sounds that swept across the country in 1945, the Church of England said.

  • The Who retiring as Pete Townsend says ‘Everyone needs to know the truth’

The Who retiring as Pete Townsend says ‘Everyone needs to know the truth’

The Who have officially announced they are retiring from touring, but with a major twist after performing a string of final concerts across North America

Rock band The Who have announced they are retiring from touring after 60 years after one last set of dates. Pete Townshend said at a London press conference to announce the tour: “Everyone needs to know the truth…. I can’t lie…. I am not crazy about touring.”

They are playing 16 shows in North America, and insiders hope they will later come to Europe, including dates in the UK. The show is called The Song Is Over, which is also the name of their new single. Speaking on video link, Roger Daltrey added: “It will have to come to an end one day.”

He said: “Pete (Townshend) is still playing great guitar, the music’s still got the vitality that suits it, because it’s something about the way Pete’s music is written, the way it’s shaped, the sentiment behind it, it doesn’t seem to age like a lot of rock music does.” Roger added: “Us out there performing for the last time is a thank you for fans.”

Roger commented that the final performances, which will take place across North America, will be a “thank you” to their fans. Pete added that the name of their tour was “poignant.”

However, Daltrey admits that he’s “not confident” that there could be a set of final shows in the UK. He said: “Let’s see if we survive this one. Touring America is a damn sight easier than touring the UK, because, for some reason or the other, the UK has decided to make it as difficult as possible to go from A to B.

“In America, you seem to want to make it as easy as possible. I don’t want to say that there won’t be, but equally I’m not confident in saying there will be.” Roger had been informed by a throat specialist to have a “day off” after each of his gigs. The musician, who had a growth removed from his vocal cords in 2009, has announced his band will embark on their last tour of North America this year.

Speaking at a press conference in London, he said: “I can’t do consecutive shows. At the end of the tour I might be able to do two back to back. I’ve been ordered by my throat specialist, (who would) say ‘You have to have a day off after every gig, and then after every three gigs you have to have two days off, because otherwise you will wreck your voice and you will not be able to sing’.”

It is not clear whether the band will perform any UK dates

Despite this, Roger admits he cannot wait to play across the States. He said: “Every musician’s dream in the early 60’s was to make it big in the US charts. For the Who, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives were changed forever. The warmth of the American audiences over the years have been inspirational to me, and reflect the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio. Musical freedom!

“Rock gave us a feeling of generational rebellion. To me, America has always been great. The cultural differences had a huge impact on me, this was the land of the possible. It’s not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time.”

Pete commented: “Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time. For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible. The warmth and engagement of those audiences began back in 1967 with hippies smoking dope, sitting on their blankets and listening deeply and intensely.

“Music was everywhere. We all felt equal. Today, Roger and I still carry the banner for the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle and of course, all of our longtime Who fans. I must say that although the road has not always been enjoyable for me, it is usually easy: the best job I could ever have had. I keep coming back.

“Every time I do, I meet new fans and feel new energy. Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.”

Tickets will be available starting with a Citi presale and through the Who Fan Club beginning on Tuesday, May 13. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning on Friday, May 16 at 10:00 AM local time at thewho.com/tour/.

EXCLUSIVE: Katie Price has been hit with rumours she has split from her boyfriend JJ Slater after fans noticed a social media clue, yet she has now set the record straight

Katie Price has settled rumours she has split from her boyfriend JJ Slater after fans thought they had spotted a clue. The former glamour model, 46, has been loved up with the Married At First Sight UK star for over a year.

He has joined her at showbiz events and is often featured on her social media. Katie introduced JJ to her family, as she also joined the reality TV star for meals with his nearest and dearest.

Just last month, the mum-of-five gushed that JJ had been a hit with the whole family as she said: “He’s very much part of the furniture. I feel that if me and JJ were ever not together, I’d upset the whole family.”

It was even revealed that her mum’s health struggles had spurred Katie on to want to marry again. She has had a very turbulent love life, which has included eight engagements and three divorces.

However, some fans noticed Katie hadn’t featured JJ on her Instagram in a while, sparking concern for the status of their romance. JJ has also not posted Katie in a while on his own account, with his last snap with her from 23 weeks ago. They also spent Christmas apart.

Amid the speculation, Katie’s representative has settled the rumours once and for all. They told the Mirror that the rumours are “not true” and that “nothing has been removed, they’re continuing as normal.”

On a recent episode of her Katie Price Show podcast, the TV star opened up on her romance with JJ and even labelled him as “The One”.

It wasn’t always easy, though, as the former Married at First Sight contestant got a rough ride from his future brother-in-law. Harry Brooks, who is married to Katie’s sister Sophie, greeted JJ’s arrival into the family group chat with three damning words: “What… another one?”

Yet, Katie is besotted with JJ and said he’s very different to any of her previous boyfriends. “We do have our ups and downs,” she admitted. ”Everyone does…I’m a busy person.”

“Healthiness [in a relationship] is being able to work, go out with your friends, no questioning. When I say no questioning,” Katie added. “You obviously want someone that cares, but I have felt there’s a massive shift and a massive difference in the relationship I’m in now, compared to all the other relationships I’ve been in. And so far, so good.”

She recently gave a very candid confession when asked what she looks for in a man, and revealed her friends even call her “gross”. Opening up on her love life, Katie said she wants a man “who has been around the block”.

Speaking on the Disruptors Podcast, Katie said: “I like to know they’ve been around the block. I’d rather a man know what they’re doing. If someone hadn’t had many, I wouldn’t really like that – isn’t that weird!”

Katie revealed she asks potential partners how many people they’ve slept with, claiming that a man “who’s been there and done it knows what they want”. She quipped: “Imagine if it’s like two or three girls, they don’t even know what they’re doing.”

However, not everyone agrees with Katie, as she said her friends call her “gross” as they question why she’d want a man “that’s been everywhere.”

BBC’s Sophie Raworth suffers heartache as family member dies days before hosting VE day coverage

BBC presenter Sophie Raworth – who has been fronting coverage of the 80th anniversary celebrations for VE Day this week – lost her father Richard Raworth at the age of 83 recently

Sophie Raworth is said to be dealing with loss whilst fronting VE Day coverage for the BBC this week. It’s been reported that her late father Richard Raworth died just days before the start of the milestone 80th anniversary celebrations.

The broadcaster, 56, fronted the Nation Pays Tribute special on BBC One on the first day of the celebrations, which took place on bank holiday Monday. She’s been back at the helm today for commemorations with the Nation Remembers, which is the latest of the broadcasts for the anniversary.

It’s however been announced that her father Richard died, aged 83, prior to the occasion. It’s been reported that he died just days before Sophie fronted the VE Day coverage on Monday after a “long battle” with Parkinson’s disease.

Sophie Raworth alongside her parents Richard and Jenny stood in front of a tree.
It’s been announced that Richard Raworth (left), who is the father of journalist Sophie Raworth (centre), pictured beside her mother Jenny Raworth (right), has died, aged 83(Image: sophieraworth/Instagram)

A source described Sophie as a “consummate professional” to the Daily Mail and Richard’s family confirmed his death in a statement to the outlet, published last night. They paid tribute to him and shared that they will “miss him always”.

His family said: “[Richard] died peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.” They said he was “a man with a big heart and heaps of kindness and tenacity”. They described him as a businessman, photographer, jazz bass player and “passionate” gardener, and said: “We will miss him always.”

Sophie – who is the older sister of economist Kate Raworth, 54 – has spoken about her father having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease on occasion. She’s said that it’s a “horrible disease” and has fundraised for charity.

She notably ran the London Marathon back in 2021 to raise money for the charity Cure Parkinson’s. Sophie paid tribute to her father Richard on a fundraising page – which now boasts more than £6,000 in donations – at the time.

Sophie Raworth sat in an orange dress during a BBC broadcast.

Sophie wrote four years ago: “My dad has had Parkinson’s for several years now. It is a horrible disease. Yet he deals with it amazingly.” She continued: “He never complains, just gets on with it with kindness and good humour.”

Dedicating her marathon run to him, she then concluded: “Thanks for the endless coffees you’ve made me after long training runs over the years. And thanks of course for your love and support. You are wonderful. This run is for you.”

She told fans on Instagram: “I’m running the London Marathon this weekend. This one is for my dad. He has Parkinson’s and it’s a horrible disease. So I’m raising a bit of money for a charity he supports @cureparkinsons to help them find one. […] Thank you for any support you can give.”

After completing the marathon, the journalist wrote in a post: “The wonderful London Marathon. After running through the deserted streets of London for months during lockdown, how amazing to be back out there with thousands of runners and the most amazing crowds. 3hrs 33. And £5000 raised for @cureparkinsons. A huge thank you.”

Years prior, Sophie – who now has three children with her husband Richard Winter – spoke about her parents Richard and Jenny Raworth, now 82, after welcoming her first child. She told the Telegraph in 2005: “Having children really changes your relationship with your parents: we see so much more of them now.”

Curtis Pritchard fumes ‘call me’ as he vows to fight Ekin-Su’s ex-boyfriend

Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard has called out to his girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu’s ex to meet him in the ring after previously requesting a fight with Davide Sanclimenti

Love Island star Curtis Pritchard has said he wants to fight the man who is claiming to text his girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. He wants to meet Married at First Sight star George Berthonneau in the ring after he claimed to be chatting to Ekin-Su.

Ekin-Su won Love Island in 2022 with her ex, Davide Sanclimenti, but they split up on the outside following a rocky romance. She re-entered the Love Island villa in January for the All Stars spin-off and found love with Curtis.

Speaking on Fubar Radio, George claimed: “On the day before my birthday, she was out with him that night, and they’d had an argument.

    Georges
Georges has claimed Ekin-Su had been texting him(Image: Channel 4)

“She was messaging me whilst he was asleep in bed with her being like, I need to see you. Blah, blah, blah, like, I’ve got the receipts on my phone.”

He added: “Everyone was like ‘why are you saying it now?’, because I loved the girl and I didn’t want to let go of it.

“And my biggest thing was, why should I keep protecting someone who can’t even apologise or take accountability.” He continued: “I even said to her on the phone, I was like ‘are you not going to apologise?’

“You had sex with another man whilst I was at home. And you’re not even going to apologise.”

Dancer-turned-boxer Curtis has now had his say and called it all “outside noise” while telling George to give him a call and “get in the ring”.

He told The Sun: “Hey, if he wants to get in the ring with me, tell him to call me out and let’s get in the ring. I’ve just been focusing on the camp. I haven’t read anything or done anything, truthfully. And that’s all that matters to me.

“I’m focusing on the camp, I’m focusing on having fun with Ekin and that’s all that matters to me.”

Curtis insisted he “hasn’t got time” to let “outside noise” get to him. He added that he “can’t be bothered with the whole situation” except thinking of himself, Ekin-Su and fighting.

Curtis previously said he wanted to fight Ekin-Su’s ex-partner Davide in the boxing ring. Being interviewed at a boxing event, Curtis was asked: “Do you have any names of people you would like to call out?”

To which he replied: “I’ve got a couple but I’m not gonna say everyone. But I’ll give you two names. Sammy [Root] from my series of Love Island just gone, because I know that he boxes and so I know that he would perhaps look to do it.

“And then Davide, which is Ekin’s ex, because I know he never treated her well, so that would be an interesting one.” Curtis make his professional boxing debut on May 16 as part of a Misfits Boxing card.

Brooklyn Beckham’s ex-girlfriend, Lexi Wood, revealed what the Beckham family is truly like following reports of a big ‘family feud’ – which saw Brooklyn and his socialite wife, Nicola Peltz, snub football icon David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations with the rest of the family last week.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn’s noticeable no-show at David’s extravagant 50th birthday festivities earlier this month, combined with persistent family discord, has shone a harsh light on their fractured bond. Fans even pointed out Brooklyn and Nicola’s lack of public support for the Beckham family on social media, while his parents didn’t tag the former photographer in any birthday posts.

It all started when rumours emerged that Brooklyn and brother Romeo, who is dating Kim Turnbull, weren’t on speaking terms as Brooklyn reportedly had a brief relationship with Kim.

Brooklyn reportedly didn’t want to go to the huge bash in London and the Cotswolds at the weekend because of Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim. The wannabe chef is said to have questioned the DJ’s motives with his brother, even though Cruz denied that Brooklyn used to date Kim.

Meanwhile, billionaire heiress Nicola was also accused of ‘controlling’ Brooklyn, with reports suggesting David and Victoria are ‘done’ with their daughter-in-law. Other reports claimed she’s actually the ‘peacekeeper’ of the relationship.

Earlier this week, it was claimed Nicola wanted to distance herself from ‘toxic’ David and Victoria, but Brooklyn’s ex-partner, Lexi Wood, shut down the ‘toxic’ claims with her own opinion of the family.

The Bravo reality star appeared on The Viall Files podcast, where she was asked about dating Brooklyn and Cindy Crawford’s son Presley Gerber.

    Lexi Wood
Brooklyn’s ex had only good things to say about David and Victoria(Image: The Viall Falls/Youtube)

She said: “It’s so funny because those are the types of families that I’m used to.” Lexi continued: “Like, families that are in the industry, that give each other advice, work with each other where they can, like that are so close, travel together, live together, they do so much together.

“That mindset is that your family has your back, period. I do feel like those families are great.” She was also asked about how it felt dating the son of ‘one of the sexiest men alive’.

Lexi addded: “I feel like he was just always Brooklyn’s dad. I feel like immediately I didn’t think anything of it. And then he just was his dad. They’re a beautiful family. Victoria, she’s the style icon. They’re the coolest family.”

The model continued: “Both families have raised such great families. And just being so close and having those same like morals and values that I have so innately it was just so nice being around them.”

Lexi didn’t want to discuss her relationships in too much detail out of ‘respect’ for her ex’s new partner. She added: “Brooklyn is in a great relationship and I’m so happy for him.”

Zara McDermott gives verdict on ex Sam Thompson’s new romance as he snogs Samie Elishi

As Zara McDermott and her former boyfriend Sam Thompson both move on, a source claims the former Love Island star is ‘happy’ for ex and doesn’t want him seen as the ‘victim’

    Zara McDermott
Sam and Zara went through a lot – and still care for each other, claims a source(Image: Instagram/zara_mcdermott)

After former Love Islander Zara McDermott debuted her new romance with one of the world’s biggest boybanders, things also seem to be hotting up for her ex Sam Thompson. The former Made in Chelsea star, 32, was photographed enjoying a passionate kiss with Samie Elishi, another Love Island alumni, just a few weeks after Zara stepped out with her new beau, One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson.

It’s believed to be Sam’s first public romance since his shock split from Zara, 28, earlier this year – and a source tells us his ex is actually happy with the new development. “Even though Sam and Zara’s relationship ended a long time before they officially split up, Sam did feel a bit like he had egg on his face,” an exclusive source tells OK!.

Zara Mcdermott in cream trouser suit
Zara has very publicly moved on with popstar Louis(Image: INSTAGRAM)

“He knew it had been over for a while, but of course seeing his ex move on with a member of one of the world’s most successful boybands ever is a little bit different to the norm. She’s hit the jackpot!”, they add. “Zara understandably doesn’t want to be seen as the villain, and it’s not easy when you’re the first to move into a new relationship. If this news stops people thinking of Sam as a victim – especially after she cheated on him when they were together – she’s happy.”

I’m A Celeb winner Sam was snapped kissing Samie outside a bar during a night out celebrating Olivia Attwood’s birthday. The podcast host, whose best friend is Pete Wicks, has been undergoing something of a “glow up” recently, according to his best pal, and didn’t seem to have a care in the world as he smooched former estate agent Samie, 25.

The new couple debuted their romance in March(Image: Getty Images)

While the pictures might have made for uncomfortable viewing for Zara, our source says they were received with mixed emotions. “She knew that she and Sam were never going to reconcile and of course it’s not nice to see an ex kissing someone else, but actually she does care for him,” they told us. “She’s focusing on herself and not trying to read too much into it, but she’s happy to see he’s doing well.”

Sam’s best mate Pete recently told us about Sam’s emotional journey post-breakup, revealing, “Sometimes it’s about allowing people to work on themselves, realise their worth. I hope I’ve helped him do that, because he’s amazing, and he deserves the best.”

And of course Zara has since moved on in a big way – going public with 33-year-old singer Louis during a romantic mini-break in March. Now, friends say things are “getting serious”, with Louis’ sisters Phoebe and Lottie seeming to give Zara their sibling seal of approval by sending her a slew of love heart emojis on Instagram.

Their romance may have taken fans by surprise, but Zara has been keeping a relatively low profile since leaving her reality TV days on Love Island and Made in Chelsea behind, focusing instead on hard-hitting BBC documentaries and a slower-paced love life. And although she’s now dating one of the most famous pop stars on the planet, she hasn’t forgotten the emotional rollercoaster of her years with Sam.

“They supported each other through a lot, so they know that each of them has had low emotional moments,” our source adds. “She would never want Sam to be sat at home feeling miserable and in a slump.”

Of course, things between Zara and Sam weren’t always rosy. Their five-year relationship hit headlines for all the wrong reasons back in 2020 when Zara admitted to cheating on Sam early on in their relationship, during her time filming The X Factor: Celebrity – a bombshell that Zara admitted in one of Made in Chelsea’s most iconic scenes, where the tearful star begged for forgiveness on a park bench.

At the time, Sam was heartbroken and briefly ended things before the pair reconciled, only to split for good this year. Despite the betrayal, the pair went on to have a seemingly happy relationship – living together, appearing on reality shows side by side, and sharing major milestones and Sam publicly calling her his his ‘soulmate’ and ‘best friend.’

In the years since, both have come into their own. Sam found huge success co-hosting the Staying Relevant podcast with Pete, winning over viewers on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, presenting on This Morning and being refreshingly open about his ADHD anxiety struggles.

According to our source, he’s not ready to jump into anything serious, but is happily enjoying his “single” status. “He’s not going into anything serious with Samie, he’s just making the most of being single,. He’ll happily go on dates and have a cheeky snog, and he doesn’t care who sees it!”

Cheryl Tweedy has been granted the power of administration of the late Liam Payne’s estate after he died without writing a will. The One Direction singer tragically died aged 31 in October last year after falling from a third-floor balcony during his stay at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Strip That Down singer, who shares an eight-year-old son named Bear with Cheryl, left behind £24.3million. According to court documents filed on May 1, music lawyer Richard Bray was also named as an administrator. He left behind £28.6million, which after expenses and debts were paid, went down to £24.3million.

Following his death, Cheryl paid a devastating tribute to Liam as she described his death as an “earth shattering event”.

She said at the time: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”

The chart-topping Girls Aloud singer went on to say: “What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future.

“I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces.

“Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them. Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last. Thank you, Cheryl.”

Cheryl and Liam’s son, Bear, was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London on March 22, 2017. Announcing the birth of his only son at the time on Instagram, Liam posted: “My close friends and family know there are very few times when I’m left speechless… wow!”

Liam and Cheryl went their separate ways soon after Bear’s first birthday, but the pair continued co-parenting and even though the singer wasn’t with his son constantly, he always made sure he was provided for.

According to some of Liam’s friends, the superstar made arrangements “some years ago” to ensure his money would go to his only child in the event of his death.

An insider previously told The Daily Mail: “Liam had some very sensible people around him for a time and he adored Bear so much.

“He always wanted to do the right thing by him financially. It is a small consolation that Bear will never want for anything, that he will at least benefit from that.”

Loose Women star Denise Welch opened up on her time with Ricky Tomlinson as the veteran actor joined the panel for discussion on the popular ITV talk show

Denise Welch had the Loose Women panel in stitches as she recalled the time she worked with legendary actor Ricky Tomlinson.

Co-hosts Ruth Langsford, Kelly Brook and Ayda Field joined the Geordie actress on the infamous ITV panel show for a special edition focusing on the Oscars party. As they all dressed for the golden and glamorous theme, the women invited Scouse star Ricky to the stage to speak about the key highlights of his career.

The actor, now 85, who is best known for playing character Jim Royle in The Royle Family, as well as starring in soap opera Brookside as Bobby Grant and DCI Charlie Wise from Cracker, gushed over his success. It led to Denise posing a cheeky question, saying: “Obviously, it’s Oscars day, who would you say in the whole of your career – and it’s been a really long and wonderful career – was your favourite leading lady?” jokingly pointing to herself.

Charmingly, Ricky took her hand and, after kissing the back of it, replied: “I can’t remember her name!” which caused the co-host to burst into laughter. Denise then added: “We did three series of a show called Down to Earth and Ricky and I were husband and wife. We spent three years, pretty much, in Cornwall together and I have never laughed and gone through as many panty pads in my entire life, I can tell you.”

Ricky added: “I’ve been so lucky, I’ve worked with so many people and I know nothing about show business. I was a political prisoner and I didn’t star in the game until my late 40s.” He went on to reminisce how little he knew about the industry when he asked someone “are you in show business?” Shockingly, it turned out Ricky had indeed posed the question to Robert De Niro.

Ricky worked as a plasterer before his stint in showbiz. He took part in the UK’s first national building workers’ strike in 1972 as workers hit out at low pay, dangerous working conditions, and unfair employment practices. He went on to spend two years in prison due to his involvement after he was arrested and sentenced.

Last year, during an appearance on The One Show, Ricky caused chaos as he dropped the F-word live on air before the watershed. He had been regaling hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas about his time on the smash-hit Royle Family. Recalling working with co-star Sue Johnstone, who played his beleaguered wife Barb, he said: “When we met, I’d done one job and I bluffed my way into it – a movie with Roland Joffe. He upset me in the audition and I told him to stick it. I hadn’t long been out of jail and he was winding me up in the audition and I told him to stick it and was walking down the stairs and he shouted, ‘I know who you are, you’re Ricky Tomlinson’. And I’m shouting…”

It was then that the actor mouthed “f*** off” in full view of the camera as he shook his fist in the air as though to express his anger from the encounter. The episode was quickly pulled from the BBC’s catch-up service, iPlayer.
