Simon Cowell ‘eyes up new Britain’s Got Talent judge’ as fans call for Bruno Tonioli axe

Britain’s Got Talent will see the return of KSI this week and there’s speculation that Simon Cowell is considering him being a judge next year amid calls to replace Bruno Tonioli

Simon Cowell is now considering replacing Bruno Tonioli on Britain’s Got Talent, it has been reported. The talent show creator is also said to have already eyed up a new addition to the judging panel for the ITV show’s future.

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno, 69, joined BGT in 2023 as the replacement for David Walliams. He’s back beside Simon, 65, Alesha Dixon, 46, and Amanda Holden, 54, for his third series this year, but KSI, 31, stepped in to cover for him at auditions that he was unable to attend.

Fans previously called for content creator KSI – also known as JJ Olatunji – to replace Bruno on the panel after his guest stint earlier in the series. There’s continued to be calls for KSI to be a permanent judge amid criticism of Bruno.

KSI is set to return to the panel for this weekend’s live semi-final and one fan wrote on X: “At last KSI is back.. keep him.” The latest reaction from viewers of the long-running show comes following criticism of Bruno earlier in the series.

Someone said: “Anyone want Bruno replaced with KSI permanently or just me? Bloke does my absolute heading.” One fan wrote: “Was really hoping Simon would have fired Bruno and brought in KSI for the remaining live shows.

Amid the reaction from viewers, Closer reports that Simon is considering further changes to the judging panel in the future. And a source told the outlet that he is “growing a bit fed up” of co-star Bruno’s “antics” on the show.

The source said: “With the X Factor no longer on air, BGT has become Simon’s baby, and he is obsessed with the show. Bruno’s currently in his third year as a judge, but there are already rumours that Simon is growing a bit fed up with his antics and recently summoned him to his house in the Cotswolds for a meeting.”

He’s said to be ‘keen’ to have KSI, who has been a guest judge this series, back(Image: ITV)

They went on to claim that Simon is “keen” to get KSI – who is a member of the YouTube group the Sidemen – involved with the next series of BGT. The source said: “Simon’s said to be keen to get KSI signed on for next year’s series.”

KSI had temporarily replaced Bruno – who is thought to have been away filming Dancing with the Stars in the US – at auditions held for the latest series of BGT in Blackpool just months ago. He’s also covered for Simon on the show.

His return to the judging panel was announced last week. BGT host Dec Donnelly, 49, shared the news with viewers at the end of the latest live semi-final on Sunday night.

The presenter also confirmed that this weekend’s episode will aired on Saturday, as usual for the new series. As previously reported, Dec said on the ITV show just days ago: “We’ll be back on Saturday with KSI joining the judging panel.”

‘Shocked’ Kate Garraway suffers setback over late husband Derek Draper’s debts

Kate Garraway has been left shocked after paperwork by the HMRC revealed the remaining debt she has from her late husband’s company as well as a hefty tax bill

Kate Garraway still carries a debt, a liquidator’s’ statement of receipts and payments published this week shows

Good Morning Britain anchor Kate Garraway has been left “shocked” she is still heavily in debt after new paperwork from HMRC showed loan debts of almost £140,000 remain from her late husband’s company as well as a £288,000 tax bill.

A Liquidators’ statement of receipts and payments published this week shows Derek’s firm Astra Aspera still has a number of outstanding debts which Kate is under pressure to pay back.

Although royalties of £37,000 have also been paid into the company there remains a loan of £139,849 which needs to be repaid and a £288,000 tax bill to HMRC.

The company has no more assets and HMRC say attempts to recoup the money are ongoing, although it is thought that Kate does not have the money to pay back currently.

She has been making efforts to pay the money back and sources close to her are keen to stress these are debts from Derek’s company and obviously caring for Derek and the loss of his income really hasn’t helped her financial situation.

Derek died in January 2024 at the age of 56 after a lengthy battle with the long-term effects of Covid.

A spokesman for Kate said: “‘Kate has met all that the liquidators of Derek’s company have asked for and more over the past 4 years. She doesn’t recognise these figures and is shocked that’s it’s being presented in this way by them.

“Caring for Derek and supporting her family when Derek could no longer run his own businesses has taken a huge financial toll on her but she’s determined to put things right. She is in constant contact with HMRC to make sure she honours what’s required from Derek’s now defunct company.”

Kate has made no secret of the costs of caring for Derek which have hugely affected her financial situation. She has been open with her struggles along the way.

    Kate and Derek
Kate has been open about how much Derek’s care cost

Astra Aspera Ltd which Derek set up in 2021 went into liquidation in March 2022, owing £716,822 to HMRC and £196,548 to four other creditors. Since then Kate has paid some money back but has been unable to clear all the debts.

Speaking before her husband’s death, Kate had said in ITV documentary, Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story: “Derek’s care costs more than my salary from ITV and that is before you pay for a mortgage, before you pay any household bills, before you pay for anything for the kids, so we are at a crunch point.

“I am in debt. I can’t earn enough money to cover my debt because I am managing Derek’s care and I can’t even use the money I do have to support Derek’s recovery, because it’s going on the basics all the time.”

Actress Bella Thorne seemingly hit out at Nicola Peltz years before her feud with her husband, Brooklyn Beckham’s famous family, in a scathing rant

Bella Thorne appears to have hit out at “very mean girl”, Nicola Peltz in a scathing outburst. In recent weeks, Nicola’s alleged behaviour has become the topic of conversation due to her strained relationship with her husband, Brooklyn Beckham’s famous family.

But in 2015, actress Bella hit out at a “mean girl” billionaire, and it has been speculated that the person she was talking about is socialite Nicola. At the time of her comments, Bella, 27, set tongues wagging over who she could have been talking about following her rather scathing comments.

There had been speculation that she may have been talking about reality stars Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as their friend Gigi Hadid. At the time of her comments, Bella said she stayed away from the billionaire “at all costs” and said she “hated” the woman, not because of her wealth, but because of her attitude.

“It’s not I hate her because she’s a billionaire,” the actress said. She went on to add: “I don’t like her because she is a billionaire and makes sure everyone knows that she is.” Bella went on to add: “I never say hello to her. Her siblings are not mean like she is. It’s just her.”

Speaking to HuffPostLive, she commented: “One of the reasons I don’t like her is because she’s been a billionaire since she was very little, and she’s never had to work for anything in her life.” Nicola has six brothers as well as a sister. She also has two half-siblings from her dad, Nelson Peltz’s previous marriages.

Peltz’s father is a billionaire investor who initially started his career as a delivery truck driver before working his way up the ladder and launching one of the biggest food distribution companies in the world. His estimated net worth is believed to be around $1.6 billion, while her mother, Claudia Heffner Peltz, is also a former model.

The Peltz family own a large estate in Bedford, New York, as well as another large estate in Florida. Bella’s comments in 2015 came just a year after Nicola appeared alongside Thorne’s ex-boyfriend, Greg Sulkin, in the independent movie Affluenza. At the time of her comments, speculation was rife over who the billionaire in question was.

One social media user penned: “Bella might not have been singling out one girl, but if I had to pick one, I’m placing my bet on Nicola Peltz. Nicola is an actress around the same age as Bella so there could be some competition for roles there, she starred in a movie with Bella’s current boyfriend Gregg so that could cause some problems, she has a ton of siblings (one who is also an actor), and she literally comes from a billionaire family.”

A second added: “The girl she was talking about is Nicola Peltz (from Transformers, Bates Motel). Nicola literally was born rich and now she’s starting a career in the Hollywood industry. They always hated each other since a long time ago. Bella thoughts her siblings are good because she’s a good friend of Will Peltz (her brother) but she still doesn’t like Nicola.”

“She’s talking about Nicola Pelt lmao,” commented a third. Nicola is believed to be at loggerheads with her famous in-laws. Earlier this month, Nicola and Brooklyn jetted into London to celebrate David Beckham’s 50th birthday, but eventually failed to attend any of the celebrations.

A source close to Nicola, however, rejected claims that she had been controlling her husband. Speaking to the Mirror, a pal said: “We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behavior within his family, that it’s not healthy and it’s not normal and it’s not ok.”

But a source close to the Beckham’s lashed out at the claims and branded it a “deeply unpleasant attack”. They said: “It doesn’t even warrant a response it’s so ludicrous and patently untrue.”

The Mirror approached Bella’s spokesperson for comment.

With a bit of a laugh, he quipped, “Which is why they’ve brought in a bloke in a blinding orange shirt – just to ensure you’re wide awake this morning.”

Coleen Nolan ‘can’t sleep at night’ over horrific Madeleine McCann documentary airing tonight

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan has revealed that she “can’t sleep at night” after seeing details of cases like Madeleine McCann’s disappearance as the show discussed a new documentary

Coleen Nolan has admitted that she’s being caused so “much stress” by seeing details on social media of horrific cases like that of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance ahead of a new documentary tonight.

Speaking about whether the public need to know about the investigation into suspect Christian Brueckner looked at in detail in Madeleine McCann: The Unseen Evidence, Coleen told Loose Women: “My thing is I think we all have this morbid curiosity and I’m including myself in that. But over the last few months, I’ve realised how much stress it’s causing me to the point where sometimes I can’t sleep at night because I don’t need actually to know all those details.

It stays in my mind. Whether it’s about this case or anything – awful things on social media that I go to scroll past but then something else comes up but you’ve seen it.”

Coleen added that since the introduction of police officer bodycam, the footage has “become a reality show on social media”. She said: “We’re seeing every single awful thing that happens whether it’s this country or around the world. I just think we’re being overloaded with things that are out of our control.

“No wonder people have serious mental health issues because we’re being bombarded with so much negative, awful information.

“No wonder we don’t let our children go two foot out of our sight in a children’s play area because we think, ‘But that video I saw last week on social media.’ Everyone is becoming so paranoid about life in general. Life’s too short.”

Tonight’s documentary, which is airing on Channel 4, looks into a year-long investigation by Sun journalist Rob Pattinson into new evidence around Madeleine’s disappearance. The film is believed to highlight Brueckner’s alleged obsession with young children. Brueckner has denied any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.

Earlier today, it was reportedly that police investigating the child’s disappearance from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in 2007 after remaining tight-lipped about a hard drive of images found at the home of prime suspect Brueckner.

The pictures are said to be part of new evidence that will be revealed in tonight’s documentary after German police searched Bruckner’s home and reportedly found children’s clothes and guns.

Coronation Street favourite Alan Halsall has gone public with his new girlfriend. The soap star is dating human resources co-ordinator Ellie Dolan, we can reveal.

Insiders say their relationship is “serious”, with stunning Ellie having already met Alan’s beloved daughter Sienna. Proud Alan posted a picture with his two favourite ladies on Friday night, captioned with a heart. It’s the first time the actor has been pictured with Ellie. A source said: “Alan is really happy. Ellie is a great girl and they have lots of common. And she gets on so well with Sienna, which is so important to Alan. Sienna is his world.”

The pair are thought to have met at the Marriott Worsley Park golf club, where Alan is a member and who Ellie works for.

Alan split from his Corrie co-star Tisha Merry, 31, in 2024 after five years. The pair met on the set of the ITV soap.

He has daughter Sienna, 11, with his ex-wife and former Corrie and Hollyoaks actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, 42. The pair were married from 2009 until 2018.

Alan, 42, has played mechanic Tyrone Dobbs for 26 years. He took part on the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity, finishing sixth place.

Talking about his love life in the jungle, he said: “I love what I’ve got, even now I’m on my own I love just being dad. I’ve never done dating apps.”

Corrie fans have loved tuning in to their 22-year on-off relationship, willing them to live happily ever after. The childhood sweethearts came close to marrying in 2015 when he proposed on Christmas Day. But when Tyrone’s debts came to light, the wedding was shelved.

Fiz married serial killer John Stape (Graeme Hawley) in prison in 2009 and tied the knot with Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna) this year, only to dump him for Tyrone on her wedding night.

Tyrone has had two trips down the aisle, with Molly Compton (Vicky Binns) in 2009, and he made it as far as the church with abusive Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) before dumping her

Victoria Beckham has made a defiant claim about her parenting skills as the fallout saga with son Brooklyn Beckham rumbles on. Posh Spice, 51, spoke candidly about being a working mum during a Dubai trip days after hubby David celebrated turning 50 without his son and his wife, Nicola Peltz.

Despite avoiding talk of any feud with her eldest child, the mum-of-four opened up on her parenting techniques, saying she tries her “best” for her kids. Speaking during an interview with YouTube series REVIEWED BY OSA, the fashion designer answered host Osa Machabbi’s question: “Who is Victoria Beckham?”

Victoria said: “I’d like to think I’m a good mum, a good wife. I try to be the best that I can.” She added: “I work hard. I like to think I’m a kind person. I’m very positive. I love a good energy.”

Victoria insisted she isn’t trying to be perfect and said she never has been. She opened up: “I just want to be the best that I can be.

“I accept my flaws. It’s just making the best of who you are, I do that through a healthy diet, working out every day, dressing in a certain way. I’m just trying to be the best me, so I can be the best mum, the best wife, the best professional.”

Victoria later revealed she has “self doubt” but admitted she doesn’t let herself be weighed down by it. ” I think an element of that is always good because if not, I can imagine you would become incredibly arrogant,” she said, before calling herself “quite a humble person”.

Her words come amid rumours of a rift within the Beckham family. While David and Victoria were joined by the other kids, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, Brooklyn and Nicola were nowhere to be seen. It sparked speculation of a fallout between the close-knit clan.

While neither party has spoken out about any potential feud, their actions are seemingly speaking for themselves as they continue to keep apart. However, last week, Victoria showed the door is firmly still open for a reuniting

Victoria shared a sweet photo of her clan in which she tagged her estranged eldest son on social media. The singer uploadeda bittersweet throwback photo of her family to mark her dad’s birthday, including her currently estranged son, Brooklyn.

The old snap showed her brood in happier times. Posting on her Instagram Stories, Victoria shared an image of herself as a teenager posing with her dad, writing: “Happy birthday, Daddy, I love you so much!”

The second upload saw Posh post a photo of her kids with their grandad. Victoria added on the image: “The best papa in the world!”

She also tagged all her children, including Brooklyn, who has been absent from any family events for months.

Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon has landed a new comedy series as part of a host of new BBC sitcom announcements.

Rob plays middle-aged divorcee Bill Beam who staves off financial ruin by renting his spare rooms to students. The character sounds a bit like Uncle Bryn from Gavin & Stacey.

Warm-hearted and eager but neurotic and slightly overbearing, Bill is thrilled by the youthful energy his lodgers bring – but baffled by their indifference to his laminated house rules and colour-coded cutlery. He’s torn between wanting to be part of the gang – sharing banter, keeping up with trends – and clinging to his role as responsible adult.

The show, called Bill’s Included, is written by Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen. Rob Brydon says: “I can’t wait to get started with this, to speak the wonderful words written by Alex and Ben who’ve done such a great job on the script.”

Brydon’s comedy was one of a host announced by the BBC yesterday at their own comedy festival in Belfast which include new projects for Diane Morgan and Lenny Rush. The Office star Mackenzie Crook has also written a new project which will see a return to comedy for Monty Python star Michael Palin.

    The line up includes:

Diane Morgan sitcom Ann Droid about a social humanoid robot designed to keep elderly people company, exploring the hilarious intersection of technology and human connection
Supernatural family sitcom Reluctant Vampire starring BAFTA winner Lenny Rush
Small Prophets , created by BAFTA winner Mackenzie Crook, starring Pearce Quigley, BAFTA winner Sir Michael Palin and BAFTA winner Sophie Willan
Stuffed , starring Guz Khan as an office worker who gets an unexpected Christmas bonus and takes his family to Lapland, only to find that he has to pay the money back
The return of series Only Child, Funboys, The Young Offenders and Golden Cobra

BBC Director of comedy Jon Petrie said: “The BBC continues to be the biggest single investor in original comedy content in the UK. And for the second year running eight out of the top 10 scripted comedies were on the BBC. Created, written by and starring some of the UK’s most brilliant homegrown talent, I’m really proud of the shows we have announced today and can’t wait for BBC viewers to see them.”

He added: “Great comedy always comes back to the fundamentals: brilliant characters, sharp jokes, a unique voice. Those are the elements that endure – not massive sets or casts of thousands.

“Our priority is to keep our shows affordable and distinctive, because comedy doesn’t need explosions and continuous shots, it needs punchlines, authentic voices, and that gleeful point of view that no algorithm can touch.”

Six part series Small Prophets is a comic tale of eccentric Michael Sleep (Pearce Quigley) who, since his darling Clea disappeared seven years ago, has lived a very ordinary life. He eats Shreddies, works in a DIY store, visits dad Brian (Sir Michael Palin) and hopes for Clea to return.

Filmed and set in and around Manchester the series incorporates visually stunning animation elements throughout as we tell a story of friendships and hope, the magical and the mundane, and where secrets and lies lurk in a suburban cul-de-sac.

Mackenzie Crook said: “Like all my best ideas, this one has been percolating for nearly a decade and is finally ready to see the light of day. It’s wonderful to be working again with my friends Gill Isles and Pearce Quigley and to realise a long-term ambition of collaborating with animators Ainslie Henderson and Will Anderson.”

Coronation Street Craig’s violent death leaves fans sobbing as Colson Smith breaks silence

Coronation Street’s Craig Tinker actor Colson Smith has spoken out over his character’s brutal death for the first time, as his final scenes aired on the ITV soap

Craig Tinker’s brutal death on Coronation Street left viewers sobbing on Wednesday night, and now actor Colson Smith has shared his reaction to the murder of the character.

The police officer died in brutal scenes on the ITV soap after a vicious attack at the hands of villain Mick Michaelis in the previous episode. Mick beat innocent Craig with a bat, before leaving him for dead.

After Craig was rushed to hospital in a bad way during Wednesday’s tense episode of the soap, his loved ones hoped he would survive his horrific injuries, with him suffering swelling on the brain after the violent beating.

But sadly Craig lost his life leaving everyone devastated. Now actor Colson has broken his silence on the devastating death of Craig, who had been on the show for more than a decade.

He addressed the decision by bosses to write him and his character out, revealing how he found out for the first time. He also shared his initial reaction to learning that his character would die in devastating scenes.

Colson told The Mirror and other press: “When I was in the chat with Kate [Brooks] I’d already braced myself for what was about to happen. I have been in that building since I was 12 years old, so I know exactly how it works.

Craig Tinker's brutal death on Coronation Street left viewers sobbing on Wednesday night

“I knew that my time was up and I knew that Craig had backed himself into a corner that was going to be really hard to get out of, so I fully expected the chat to go that way. There had been about 20 minutes of Kate talking to me, but we hadn’t touched on when or how, or who or what.

“So I kind of stopped Kate and said, ‘Look, I have two questions, and one is when, and two is do I get killed?’. And she kind of like, stopped and stumbled a little bit. And I said, if it makes it easier for you, the right answer for me is yes.

“Like for me to go, I would want to leave. I would want to die, I would want the door to be shut, so then I can kind of know in my head that Corrie has been this, Corrie has done that, and it is now done, and Craig’s journey is over.”

Colson went on: “It was the right thing for me to be killed. I think Craig dying, and Craig dying in the line of duty as a copper, that kind of hero’s death was by far the most perfect story for the exit.”

The actor learned of his character’s fate and the fact he would be leaving the show back in October last year. On the “most difficult” time for him after the revelation, he shared: “I think from that night at the end of October, it was that night where any emotion that I had, or any feelings that I had, that was kind of when it played out and that was the most difficult bit.

“The most difficult bit is going back to work and working through the thing, the rest of the building finding out and seeing other people’s emotion and understanding of things, that’s the toughest bit.

“Do I feel like a part of me has died? I feel like I will miss Corrie, I miss going to work, I miss having a job, and I feel like I’m accepting of nothing will ever replace that. I can do anything in the rest of my career, the rest of my life, and I’m fully aware that I will never get what I have got from Coronation Street from anywhere else.”

Colson revealed Corrie had “been his life” with him grateful for the past 14 years on the ITV soap. He said: “I think it’s probably been my life you know, I started as an 11 year old, and it pretty much is all I remember. I remember getting the job and I don’t remember much about before.

“This show has – I said it in my leaving speech – like everything I have done, achieved, I’ve done whilst in that building. My best days, my worst days, all my first moments have been whilst being part of Coronation Street, and that is the thing that I will forever be grateful for. I wouldn’t even say it’s changed my life, I would say it’s been my life, and my life is what it is because I played Craig Tinker in Coronation Street.”

Viewers were heartbroken over the brutal scenes and the loss of Craig, taking to X with their reactions. One fan said: “How can I know Craig’s dying but I’m sobbing anyway?” as another said: “I literally can not stop crying that was the saddest episode.” A third fan commented: “Incredibly sad,” as a further comment read: “So sad, my heart can’t take it.”

Lorraine Kelly’s face says it all as she returns to air after ITV daytime bloodbath

Lorraine Kelly was back on her ITV show today, just hours after news broke that her ITV daytime show would be cut in half and would only air 30 weeks of the year

Lorraine Kelly made her return to her show today after ITV announced huge cuts. The presenter’s show normally airs every day from 9am and 10am each day, with guest hosts sometimes standing in for Lorraine.

However, ITV have now announced that Lorraine’s show will just air between 9.30 and 10am each day for 30 weeks of the year, in line with other seasonal presenters. As a result Good Morning Britain will be extended until 9.30am each day and when Lorraine is not on air, the show will be extended until 10am with This Morning airing after in its usual slot.

Sources tell The Mirror that there are real fears Lorraine could quit. An insider said: “There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines.

“It’s hard to see how standards won’t fall….and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. Lorraine and her team are perfectionists – it’s why the show is loved by so many.”

Another source told us: “This is a presenter who has just come back from having an operation, has won a BAFTA, is enjoying record ratings….and then ITV show their appreciation by yanking her off air half the year. Staff are beside themselves, and have been in tears constantly. It doesn’t make any sense given the trajectory the show is on.”

On her show this morning, Lorraine was interviewing Remember Monday fresh from their Eurovision performance alongside a special look behind-the-scenes at the Chelsea Flower Show and discussing the Marks & Spencer data leak.

As she opened the show, she quickly crossed over to Ross King to chat about the Time100 most influential philanthropists, including David Beckham, who was on the list for his charitable offerings. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t make the list this time, whilst they also discussed how Meghan had been chatting about motherhood on her podcast.

Lorraine returned to screens this week after undergoing an operation. Speaking on her show, she shared: “What happened was, do you remember I told you back in January, I was coming back from India and on the flight I had terrible, terrible pain.

“It was a cyst that had burst, an ovarian cyst that had burst. There was a bit of bleeding and when I say discomfort, you know I’m stoic but it was horrible. I went to see Mr Raafat, we had a scan and did all of that and he said on the other side there is an ovary that looks a bit dodgy, best to just take it out, best to just get rid of it.”

Lorraine's show has now been cut to air for just half an hour each day, and only for 30 weeks of the year

Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, explained of the huge changes: “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.

“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever. I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams.”
