David Beckham’s touching marriage advice revealed by son Brooklyn

Brooklyn Beckham has revealed the all important marital advice that his father David gave him after his lavish $3.5 million wedding to Nicola Peltz in April 2022.

During an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna on Monday morning, Brooklyn, 25, was promoting his new hot sauce, Cloud23, when he opened up about married life and admitted it’s ‘continued to be the honeymoon stage’ for him and Nicola, 29.

‘Oh my God, it’s been the best,’ he said of being a husband, before revealing that his famous father had always advised him to find someone special since he was a young.

‘My dad’s always – when I was growing up – was like, “find that person because that’s one of the most important things that someone can do in their life is find that person that you’ll spend the rest of your life with.’”

When asked if his parents David, 49, and Victoria, 50, had given him any advice, Brooklyn told Hoda Kotb and her guest cohost Laura Jarrett: ‘My mom and dad love [Nicola] and they get along, which I am so happy about.

‘And my dad was like, “take care of her and work hard and just always do romantic things,”‘ he added, before revealing why he decided to take Nicola’s family name.

‘I kind of wanted to honor both names and when I decided… when we both decided that this was what we wanted to do, I was like, “it would be so cute to have little Peltz Beckhams running around at some point,”‘ referring to having children one day.

And when Hoda, 60, asked Brooklyn how he knows that Nicola is his person, he replied: ‘I feel like I’ve known her for six years and we were friends before and I feel like when you know, you just know, do you known what I mean?’

Later on in the interview, Brooklyn opened up about the most embarrassing moment he has experienced in front of his actress wife.

‘Probably when I asked her to marry me because we were in this little gazebo and I tried to open up the wine and I was so nervous, I couldn’t open it!’ he revealed, before adding that he did break the cork.

According to reports, Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish wedding cost $3.5 million and saw the couple say ‘I do’ in Palm Beach, Florida.

The bride’s parents Nelson and Claudia footed the cost, with the $494 million fortune of Brooklyn’s parents David and Victoria being dwarfed by the estimated $1.6 billion wealth of Nicola’s.

The couple exchanged vows at her billionaire father Nelson’s $103 million compound in Palm Beach in front of a star-studded crowd that included Eva Longoria and Serena Williams.

At the time, Nicola described her custom-made Valentino wedding gown her ‘dream dress’, while British Vogue noted that the ‘romantic, traditional-with-a-twist gown is the culmination of a year’s worth of conversations between the bride, Peltz’s stylist and Valentino creative director’s team.’

Vogue shared a plethora of snaps of the newlyweds back in 2022 as they noted: ‘It’s the stuff that modern fairytales are made of: a beautiful blonde film star meets a handsome young scion of one of Britain’s most famous – and fashionable – families, sparks fly, and a truly 21st-century romance unfolds.’

During an interview with People earlier this year, Nicola said of being married: ‘I feel like when you’re on a sleepover or a play date and you’re always like, “Oh, can they sleep over again?” And you just are on a never-ending sleepover play date.

‘That’s how we feel. He really is my best friend. I feel like that,’ the Bates Motel actress added.

  • ‘Ignorant’ Princess Diana ‘didn’t know the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland’, unsealed Irish note claims

‘Ignorant’ Princess Diana ‘didn’t know the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland’, unsealed Irish note claims

Princess Diana was ‘ignorant’ and ‘didn’t know the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland‘, an unearthed note has claimed.

Diana, then the princess of Wales, showed ‘obvious ignorance of, or disregard for, constitutional niceties’ in relation to Northern Ireland, according to a note from the Irish ambassador in 1993.

The late princess had referred to Northern Ireland as part of Ireland in an interaction which was noted ahead of a historic visit by then-Irish president Mary Robinson to Buckingham Palace.

The meeting in May 1993 would mark the first time a serving president of Ireland visited the United Kingdom, and visited Queen Elizabeth II.

A folder with briefing material for the Irish president ahead of the visit included a note by the Irish ambassador in London, Joseph Small, where he stated the princess had visited Ireland in a private capacity for equestrian functions.

‘Whenever we meet Prince Charles, he invariably says that he would love to visit Ireland,’ Mr Small’s briefing note, dated May 21 1993, said.

‘He is, of course, a regular visit to Northern Ireland (sic). Princess Diana has also been there.

‘Early last year she said to me, with obvious ignorance of or disregard for constitutional niceties: “I was in your country yesterday!”‘

The briefing note also detailed the latest political situation in the UK, included notes on the Irish diaspora in the UK, and on the royal family ahead of what would become a significant visit as Anglo-Irish relations deepened.

Mrs Robinson’s visit to London was planned for May 26-28, where she was to receive the degree of doctor of civil law by diploma from the University of Oxford, become an honorary fellow of Hertford College, Oxford, and present the Irish Post Awards that celebrate the Irish in Britain.

On the second day of the trip at 5pm, Mrs Robinson was to ‘pay a courtesy call’ to Queen Elizabeth II in response to an invite from the monarch.

Among the topics noted for possible discussion between Mrs Robinson and Queen Elizabeth II was Northern Ireland, bombing atrocities in the region and in Britain, cross-border issues and general relations between Ireland and the UK.

Also noted was Mrs Robinson’s appreciation of ‘her response re Somalia’ and her ‘concerns’ regarding Sudan and Yugoslavia and the ‘British UN military involvement’.

The meeting was scheduled to last around 40 minutes, where tea and light refreshments were to be served.

Mr Robinson also attended the engagement, while the Duke of Edinburgh was in Liverpool attending the anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.

An observer wrote to the president’s office before the visit and noted some parallels with ‘the last meeting between an Irish woman leader and a British monarch’.

The writer compared the Buckingham Palace meeting with the Queen of Connaught, Grace O’Malley, visiting Queen Elizabeth I at Greenwich Castle exactly 400 years earlier, in 1593.

‘Grace, like yourself, was also a Mayo woman!’ Dr Donald Martin from Killybegs in Co Donegal wrote, noting that the language spoken at the time was Latin.

Mrs Robinson’s special adviser replied to say Mrs Robinson read the letter with ‘great interest’.

Also revealed in the new archive was a note describing officials’ concerns after former Irish President Patrick Hilary declined an invitation to attend Charles and Diana’s wedding in July 1981.

Officials questioned when would be the best time to give the refusal without appearing rude.

It was noted that an invitation to the wedding should be accepted, but that it would cause backlash at home if it was.

Nicola Peltz oozes centrefold confidence in daring Playboy Bunny costume for Halloween as husband Brooklyn Beckham gushes they’re still in ‘honeymoon stage’ on Today show

Nicola Peltz put on a very racy display on Monday, as she transformed into a Playboy Bunny, while her husband Brooklyn Beckham opened up about their marriage during an appearance on the Today show in New York.

The heiress, 29, sent temperatures soaring as she shared a slew of snaps in the classic Halloween costume, flaunting her svelte figure.

She slipped into the signature black satin bodysuit, leaving her ample cleavage and toned legs on full display.

Posing up a storm, Nicola added a pair of matching evening gloves and revisited her her previous blonde bombshell era, by sporting a platinum wig over her dark hair.

The eldest child of Victoria and David Beckham donned a cream sweater and jeans, teamed with a pair of battered white trainers.

He smiled as he made his way to Today with Hoda & Jenna, where he was promoting his new hot sauce, Cloud23.

During the interview, Brooklyn gushed about his married life with Nicola, saying it’s ‘continued to be the honeymoon stage’, after tying the knot in a lavish $3.5 million wedding in April 2022.

And the aspiring chef revealed that this famous father, 49, gave him an important piece of marital advice while he was growing up.

Speaking about being a husband, he said: ‘Oh my God, it’s been the best. My dad’s always – when I was growing up – was like, “find that person because that’s one of the most important things that someone can do in their life is find that person that you’ll spend the rest of your life with”.’

Brooklyn added that both David and fashion designer Victoria, 50, were big fans of his wife, saying: ‘My mum and dad love [Nicola] and they get along, which I am so happy about.

‘And my dad was like, “take care of her and work hard and just always do romantic things’.

Brooklyn Beckham shares important marital advice his father gave him

Revealing how he knew that Nicola was the one for him, he gushed: ‘I feel like I’ve known her for six years and we were friends before and I feel like when you know, you just know, do you known what I mean?’

But when asked his most embarrassing moment in front of her, he admitted that it was when he let his nerves get the better of him during his proposal.

Brooklyn said: ‘Probably when I asked her to marry me because we were in this little gazebo and I tried to open up the wine and I was so nervous, I couldn’t open it!’, before adding that he did break the cork.

He also explained why he had chosen to double-barrel his surname with Nicola’s family name, saying: ‘I kind of wanted to honour both names and when I decided… when we both decided that this was what we wanted to do, I was like, “it would be so cute to have little Peltz Beckhams running around at some point”.’

According to reports, Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish wedding in Palm Beach, Florida cost an eye-watering $3.5 million, with star-studded guests including Eva Longoria and Serena Williams.

The bride’s billionaire parents Nelson and Claudia Peltz footed the cost, with their estimated $1.6 billion wealth dwarfing the $494 million fortune of Brooklyn’s parents.

During an interview with People earlier this year, Nicola said of being married: ‘I feel like when you’re on a sleepover or a play date and you’re always like, “Oh, can they sleep over again?”

‘And you just are on a never-ending sleepover play date. That’s how we feel. He really is my best friend. I feel like that’.

Brooklyn Beckham gushes over his wife Nicola Peltz on their anniversary with sweet post as he declares ‘I’m the luckiest guy in the world’

Brooklyn Beckham shared a gushing post for wife Nicola Peltz on their anniversary on Wednesday.

The son of David and Victoria Beckham, 25, posted an adorable snap of the couple on Instagram.

The pair couldn’t look more loved-up as they were captured putting on a cosy display to celebrate five years together – two of which they’ve been married.

Brooklyn penned: ‘Happy anniversary baby xx I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have you by my side everyday and wake up to your gorgeous face everyday xx I love you with all my heart.’

Nicola, 29, also shared a Instagram story with a bouquet of white roses with the caption: ‘I love you so much.’

The snap also showed a sweet note from her man, which read: ‘Dear Nicole. Brooklyn re-shared the Story onto his account and tagged @Cloud23, his new spicy sauce that could be seen in the background.

The former model announced the launch of his new hot brand last month and his family have been in full support.

Father David shared a snap of him enjoying the sauce with his tacos, while brother Cruz posted a photo of the sauce in his burger.

Cloud 23, named after the No.23 jersey his father wore at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, comes in two variants – Sweet Jalapeno and Hot Habanero.

‘I did my research and I just felt like there was this hole in the market with luxury condiments, especially for a really good price,’ Brooklyn told Delish magazine.

Explaining his move into condiments, he said, ‘I’ve always been a foodie. I’ve always been lucky enough to travel to different places in the world with my mum and dad. Obviously my dad with football, we lived in Madrid, we lived in LA, Milan.

‘Then Covid happened, I met my wife and started cooking for her and just fell in love with it. And now it’s just something that just takes my mind off of things.’

Brooklyn and his wife were initially linked after they were spotted in each other’s company during a Halloween party that took place in 2019.

The happy couple went Instagram official with their relationship the following January.

The pair moved quickly with their romance and announced that they had become engaged that July.

They went on to tie the knot during a lavish wedding ceremony that took place in Palm Beach in April 2022.

Brooklyn opened up about married life at the Cannes Lions International Festival Of Creativity in June.

He said: ‘It’s so important to find that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I married my best mate so it’s the best.’

Brooklyn also confirmed he does all the cooking and cleaning at home, saying: ‘My wife can’t cook at all.’

The former model said he and Nicola are homebodies who generally prefer to ‘dine in’ rather than go out.

Discussing his passion for food, Brooklyn told how he was lucky to be exposed to a wide variety of cuisines while travelling with his father David as a child.

The pair are competitive with each other in the kitchen and have had cook-offs judged by Nicola and Brooklyn’s mother Victoria.

He said: ‘I love making spaghetti bolognese, that’s my favourite. I love it al dente.

‘Me and my dad have this thing where he thinks he makes the best spaghetti bolognese, we have competitions.’

This has been the year of Di-mania – and no wonder. Princess Diana was the ORIGINAL media-savvy influencer and now Gen-Z is under her spell…

A dress worn by Princess Diana in 1985 recently fetched £900,000 ($1.148) million at auction – the highest ever price for clothes worn by the princess.

In November, The Crown returned for its sixth and final series, with Elizabeth Debicki reprising her role as Diana. Even haters of the series unanimously concede that Debicki’s interpretation was knock-it-out-of-the-park, frighteningly good.

Pick up a copy of the latest issue of Tatler magazine and, looking at the photograph of Princess Diana adorning its cover, you’d be forgiven for thinking the year was 1984, not 2024.

The year of the portrait was in fact 1988 and was taken by David Bailey – he tells a story of his assistant dropping a light on the princess’s head during her sitting.

Underneath the portrait, a caption reads, ‘Diana: a battle for her legacy’.

In 2023, more than any other year since her 1997 death, Diana has been discussed, dissected and deliberated over. It’s been a year of Diana mania.

Personally, I’m thrilled about Diana’s re-entry into public consciousnesses.

Well, re-entry is the wrong word, because she never left it. What I mean is that I am happy she’s entered the minds of a new, younger public: Gen Z – those born, roughly, in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

There are TikTok accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers whose content revolves around Diana, created by people born long after her death.

Why does this make me so happy? Because, as her brother Earl Spencer said in her eulogy, Diana was ‘unique, complex, extraordinary and irreplaceable’.

Eloise Moran, creator of the viral Instagram account @ladydirevengelooks (currently boasting 114k followers) and author of a best-selling book of the same name was only five when Diana died but was inspired to create her Instagram account after breaking up with a boyfriend and finding solace in Diana’s post-divorce empowerment.

In a world and social media landscape consumed insatiably by young adults but dominated by filtered versions of beauty and perfection, Princess Diana is – at least so far as Gen Z is concerned – a powerful dose of normality.

In her willingness to discuss her struggles – her crushing lack of self-worth and ensuing years of self-torture through bulimia – Diana is striking a powerful chord in a world that has never been so aware of fragility and the search for well-being.

I couldn’t think of a better role model for my youngest sister, who is 18.

Diana was a woman extraordinarily ahead of her time. A woman after Gen Z’s own hearts before they even existed.

She knew the power of her image and the power of tactical self-projection and played with this – think of the scene in the latest series of The Crown in which Debicki as Diana bargains with photographers, saying they can take photographs of her in her leopard print swimsuit if they agree to leave her alone for the rest of the day.

This is exactly what Gen Z do on Instagram – they play with the power of their image and self-project in a clever, considered and curated way to influence public perception of themselves. Step aside, Kim K. Please, Diana was the original influencer.

And less seriously (but still seriously – clothes are important and not stupid, thank you), every generation can benefit from and delight in devouring Diana’s surreptitiously-communicative style.

What a revelation it was when I realised Diana used clothes to talk when she was gagged.

The clothing companies she loved have enjoyed a revival thanks to a new generation’s fascination with her.

Warm & Wonderful, makers of that black sheep sweater, are back as of 2020. Gottex re-released Diana’s leopard print swimming costume this year.

Philadelphia Eagles made available to the public a jacket they made for Diana in the ‘90s for the first time ever last month.

The list goes on. In June, supermodel and Gen Z quasi-deity Kendall Jenner walked the runway at Jacquemus’ Princess Diana-inspired fashion show in Paris in a recreated version of Diana’s iconic pearl and sapphire choker.

I think Diana would have been pleased with 2023. She would have been pleased that what mattered to her most – her work for the repressed and voiceless – has gained a new audience.

Even if said audience does begin just by obsessing just over her vintage sweatshirts.

The Crown props go on display in free exhibition in London as Netflix hopes to auction 450 items – including a replica of Gold State Coach – for £1m

The Crown’s most famous props are going on display in a free exhibition in London as Netflix hopes to sell them for £1m at auction.

Left Bank Pictures – the London-based production company behind the hit historical drama – is selling a series of outfits, vehicles and other items that were commissioned for the series, which came to an end last month.

The proceeds from the Bonhams auction will go towards a new programme for film students called Left Bank Pictures – The Crown Scholarship at the National Film and Television School.

Alongside the auction, Bonhams is also putting on a free exhibition of 450 items for fans of the series – which ran for six seasons – to visit on London’s New Bond Street.

The exhibition includes the world’s only copy of the Gold State Coach, which Bonhams estimates will sell for up to £50,000 when it goes under the hammer.

Two thirds of the size of the 1762 original, it was made by prop-maker Jason Szukalski, who took hundreds of photos of the real one on display at Buckingham Place to ensure every detail was copied.

What’s more, fans will also be able to see Netflix’s 4m high replica of Number 10 Downing Street, complete with lantern, railings and boot-scrapers, which Bonhams has estimated will sell for £30,000.

The immersive exhibition will also show scenes from the show that correspond with the outfits and items on display.

A recreation of Princess Diana’s revenge dress, which was worn by Elizabeth Debicki in the fifth series, is expected to fetch £12,000 when it goes under the hammer.
The black mini dress – which is modelled on Diana’s Christina Stambolian frock from 1994 – has been placed front and centre in the exhibition.

The exhibition organisers have placed a blue ruffled gown that Emma Corrin wore in season four for the show’s reaction of Charles and Diana’s tour of Australia.

The evening gown – which has a silver metallic sheen – is expected to sell for between £2,000 and £3,000.

The production company are also selling an emerald green gown Claire Foy wore in season two.

A separate live auction will take place on 7 February with a further 161 lots.

On weekdays, the exhibition will be open between 9:30 and 4:30pm. On weekends, fans of the show can visit between 10am and 4pm.

Two hundred members of the public will be able to attend the live auction next month and Charlie Thomas – Bonhams’ head of house sales – estimates that it may last eight hours.

Royal fans will also have the opportunity to bid for a replica of Princess Diana’s striking sapphire and diamond engagement ring, which is expected to sell for £3,000, as well as a version of the Harvard University jumper she was once photographed leaving the gym in.

The Crown’s creators are hoping to raise £1 million from the sale, with all proceeds going to the National Film and Television School to set up the Left Bank Pictures – The Crown Scholarship.

Andy Harries, chief executive of production company Left Bank Pictures and executive producer of The Crown, said: ‘Its huge global success has much to do with working with the best creative and production talent in this country, and we want to invest the profits of this magnificent auction into the next generation of film and TV talent.

‘The NFTS has been part of The Crown’s history from the start with many of its graduates contributing to the production of the show over the years.

‘I have long admired the ethos and training of the school and supported it personally. So I am thrilled that the legacy of The Crown will be to provide so much financial support for so many students at the NFTS over the next few decades.’
