Never-before-seen pictures of Princess Diana – she was a wonderful mother and role model

Because of her loving and giving nature, Lady Di is known as the People’s Princess and will always be regarded as the monarchy’s modernizer.

On August 31, 1997, Lady Diana Spencer perished in a horrific automobile collision. She was wed to Prince Charles Windor, the British throne’s heir apparent and the son of Queen Elizabeth. Everyone was stunned by her untimely demise, not just those in Britain but also those around the world. She was that much loved.

Diana was viewed by young Britons as an infusion of freshness and modernity into the stodgy royal routine. People say that following her untimely demise, the nation was in a profound state of shock because she was a national treasure to everyone.

The images below will serve as a reminder that Diana, the people’s princess, will live on in our minds forever!

Diana became something of a style icon at the height of her fame, and she took that with her to the slopes while skiing.

Diana is pictured here on a skiing trip to Austria with her kids, Harry and William. This photograph was shot shortly after Harry turned nine years old. He’s adorable, and the whole family is stunning!

Barbour is still a popular royal apparel brand, although Princess Diana may have worn it best.

Diana adored Barbour, and her journey to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland in 985 was the ideal occasion to wear her Barbour-style waxed cotton jacket.

Jayne Fincher, a royal photographer who captured some of Princess Diana’s most memorable images, trailed the royal couple everywhere they went. She’d rented a jet to travel to the Outer Hebrides, where Charles and Diana were on official business.

“When I caught up,” says Fincher, “Charles said, ‘Where have you been?’”

The Outer Hebrides are subject to extremes of wind and rain, which Princess Diana experienced during her visit there in 1985.But she looks great in the images from the trip, and photographer Jayne noticed something after going over the negatives.

“You don’t see Diana dressed like that very often. She looked so happy. It was pouring rain, but her makeup was perfect and un-smudged. I looked a mess, as usual,” she said.

David Beckham playfully says sorry to S’pore kid who said ‘eh!’ to catch his attention

David Beckham has had a whirlwind of events since he landed in Singapore.

    Football clinic

This includes the “We Got This” football clinic held on June 18 at The Arena.

Some of the clinic participants include these young children, who got some one-on-one training with the former professional football player himself.

Here’s a video of him with the kids, whom he praised as having “a lot of potential”.

    Kid says ‘eh!’

From the video, one can hear the children excitedly calling out “David Beckham!” and tapping his legs, vying for his attention.

But all it took for one young boy to get his attention was by uttering a simple sound.

The kid, who was last in line, was waiting for his turn to kick the ball and crawl between his legs.

As he was distracted by the other children, the young boy said “eh!” to catch his attention, which worked, as Beckham apologetically said “ah, ok sorry”, before letting the boy have his turn:

    Awwww.

English footballing legend David Beckham joined the public queue to pay his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth the Second, waiting nearly 12 hours in the process.

    The Queue

Queen Elizabeth died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sep. 8, and her coffin returned to London on Sep. 13.

She has been lying in state in Westminster Hall, and mourners have been allowed to pay their respects since Sep. 14.

Mourners have been queuing to view the Queen’s coffin since Sep. 12.

The queue to enter Westminster Hall has only grown since then and has appeared to take on a life its own, as people attempt to view the coffin before Elizabeth’s funeral on Sep. 19.

As of last night, the estimated waiting time in the queue was over a day long, and authorities were requesting that mourners not attempt to join the queue. This request appears to have been in vain as thousands still arrived, forming a secondary queue in order to join the official queue according to The Metro.

The British have a reputation for appreciating a good queue, and the long line seems to have inspired several, with the line being named “The Queue”, with websites and livestreams popping up to help people find where the beginning of the queue was at any one moment.

If you’re British, this is the queue you’ve been training for all your life. The final boss of queues. pic.twitter.com/5auXopBfOr

    — Jof (@JofArnold) September 13, 2022

According to the BBC, The Queue had been allocated a space over 16 km along the banks of the Thames, so finding its exact start point appears to have become a challenge.

    All here together

Despite the intimidating length, footballing legend David Beckham joined the public queue to pay his respects. Joining at around 2 in the morning, Beckham waited for almost 12 hours along with other members of the public.

Journalists spotted him in the queue even though he was there with little fanfare. Dressed in a demure black suit and overcoat, with a grey peak cap and armed with an umbrella, Beckham appeared to have been in the queue on his own.

Taking advantage of a captive subject, several journalists interviewed him while he was in the queue, where Beckham gamely answered questions but was mindful of holding up the line.

Asked by the BBC how the experience of the queue had been so far, he emphasised the communitarian aspect of joining the queue, and joining with others in other to celebrate the life of the Queen, sharing stories and food as they waited together, saying:

‘We all want to be here together, we all want to experience something where we celebrate the amazing life of our queen, and I think something like this today is meant to be shared together.’

‘So the fact that we’re here together, we’re eating pringles, we’re eating sherbet lemons, we’re eating sandwiches, we’re having coffee, doughnuts.’

Members of the public also gave him credit for joining the public queue. When one woman was asked if she expected to be in the queue with Beckham, she replied:

“No I didn’t, but big respect to him he’s stood with us and he’s paid his respects how he wants to and I think that’s amazing.”

Beckham also said to ITV News that he had come in order to represent his family, noting that he had been raised in a household that respected the monarchy.

“I grew up in a household of royalists and I was brought up that way. And if my grandparents were to have been here today, I know they would have wanted to be here.’

‘So I’m here on their behalf, and on behalf of my family, and obviously to celebrate with everybody else.”

    Sadness and tears

Beckham was later seen in Westminster Hall paying his respects. Having taken off his hat, he looked extremely sombre as he waited his turn, before finally walking past the coffin, turning to it, bowing his head slightly, and then heading out.

Beckham was compared to other celebrities and members of parliament, who were able to join a fast-tracked queue to pay their respects. Many were disdainful of those who had cut the queue, appearing to single out two morning show hosts as the target of their ire. It was clarified later, however, that they attended the state funeral in professional capacity.

What is King Charles like in private? As he turns 76 today we look back at his ‘completely different’ family persona which involves lots of ‘hugs and kisses’ (despite Harry’s claim in Spare there was ‘nearly a zero-tolerance policy’ on physical contact)

When most people meet King Charles they might get a firm handshake and exchange a few pleasantries.

But as you would expect, he acts in a far more relaxed manner around those close to him – especially his two sons William and Harry in their younger days.

In their company he could be seen fooling around, laughing and joking, playing rough and tumble, and even hugging and kissing, according to one royal biographer.

However in recent years, the King’s private character has come under fire from the disillusioned Prince Harry, who claimed in his tell-all book Spare that the ‘older generation’ of royals had a ‘nearly zero-tolerance prohibition on all physical contact’.

Despite the mound of photo evidence proving the contrary, he wrote: ‘No hugs, no kisses, no pats. Now and then, maybe a light touching of cheeks – on special occasions.’

Here, on the day King Charles turns 76, MailOnline goes inside his private life and reveals his family persona.

Throughout Charles’ life, there have always been cameras focused on him, so he makes sure to grab the rare moments of privacy he does have with both hands.

Behind the high walls of his palaces and country estates, Charles’ private persona is ‘completely different from his public one’, writes Penny Junor in the 1998 book Charles: Victim or Villain?

The royal author writes: ‘He fools around with the boys, they tease each other laugh, joke, rough and tumble, and even hug and kiss.

‘On the last farewell dinner party in their hotel restaurant, in the middle of the dinner Harry got to his feet and, in front of a table full of people, made a little speech to thank “Papa” as both boys call him (rhymes with super), for giving him such a wonderful holiday.

‘He then walked smartly up to his father and smothered his face in kisses, until, in mock embarrassment, the prince begged for mercy. It was a touching scene…’

However the scene painted in the biography is far different from the one Harry outlines in his 2023 memoir Spare.

There he wrote: ‘The older generation maintained a nearly zero-tolerance prohibition on all physical contact.

‘No hugs, no kisses, no pats. Now and then, maybe a light touching of cheeks – on special occasions.

‘No matter how much you might love someone, you could never cross that chasm between, say, monarch and child. Or Heir and Spare.’

Harry also details feeling like he was born to be the ‘spare kidney’ for his elder brother.

But Junor’s biography of Charles seems to contradict the claims later made by the prince.

She wrote: ‘When William and Harry were small, one of the biggest problems Charles’ valets had was keeping his suits clean.

‘Whenever Charles arrived home at Highgrove by helicopter, it would land in the front field, where sheep graze. As soon as William and Harry heard it overhead, they could come running out to meet him.

‘Once it had landed safely, they would race across the field and jump up into his arms for a hug, smearing one suit after another with the sheep droppings they had trodden in on the way.’

The book also claimed Charles built his sons a ‘massive’ tree house in a holly tree, which became affectionately known as Holyroodhouse after Holyroodhouse Palace, the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh.

And like their father, both boys were funny mimics, doing better impressions of him than anyone else.

Although most of the King’s physical affection is thought to have happened away from the camera, there were also many instances that were captured on camera.

Prince Harry’s claim that Charles gave no affection to him growing up was put into further doubt in December 2023, when the King was seen kissing his grandsons while filming a documentary for the coronation.

Royal fans noticed that during a rehearsal for the Westminster Abbey ceremony in May of that year, Charles is seen bending over to hug and kiss Prince George and Prince Louis.

The King also embraced Princess Charlotte, who curtseyed in homage to him.

However the King’s private enthusiasm for physical contact also sometimes spills over into his public facing role.

A Palace source told The Telegraph in September that the King ‘is a genuinely warm and affectionate man who is not embarrassed to express that in a public way. He’s a human and relatable person’.

They noted that if the late Queen was not hugged, it was out of ‘generational respect’, meaning it ‘would have felt wrong to even attempt it’.

Robert Jobson, author of Charles’ biography Our King, said the monarch has ‘always been a pretty good hugger, pretty relaxed about it’.

The royal expert added: ‘The people around the Royal Family can be strict, but the actual royals themselves have always been fairly relaxed. He [the King] is quite tactile and always has been. He’s got a twinkle in his eye.’

Showcasing his sometimes ‘informal approach’, Charles, as Prince of Wales, was seen breakdancing in 1985 and was even kissed on the cheek by a Spice Girl in 1997.

Meanwhile, King Charles has often been dubbed ‘approachable’ – and the well-earned label is proven through his sweet and compassionate interactions with the public.

After his mother died in September 2022, the new King put on a brave face for the country as he shook the hands of well-wishers at Buckingham Palace.

In an outpouring of affection, one woman leaned over to kiss his hand, while another landed one on his cheek.

It was the first sign of what has been dubbed the ‘informal formality’ of King Charles’s reign, reflecting his chilled-out approach to enthusiastic members of the public.

Meanwhile, during the King’s trip to the Channel Islands in July, one mischievous 91-year-old local, Kathleen Moriarty, planted a kiss on the monarch’s cheek, much to the delight of onlookers.

The loud smooch was picked up by nearby cameras, cutting through the noise of the crowd that was gathered in the small town of St Peter Port in Guernsey.

Again, King Charles took it in his stride, shaking Kathleen’s hand and giving her a wry smile.

Yet an act of such intimacy may have provoked a very different response during the reign of the late Queen.

Royal biographers such as Andrew Morton have said Queen Elizabeth II would ‘never’ have allowed a member of the public to kiss her, noting that she had a ‘different kind of style’ from her son.

But it seems for Prince Harry, King Charles’ family persona was still not affectionate enough.

The Sun claims the couple visited the Chiltern Firehouse on both Tuesday and Wednesday evening, leaving hand-in-hand at 2am on the second night.

A source told the publication: ‘Romeo is young and single and is happily playing the field. He had a lot of fun with Gray and now he’s enjoying his dates with Kim. She is no stranger to the spotlight and previously dated Madonna’s son Rocco Ritchie.

‘Kim and Romeo were out at Chiltern Firehouse on Tuesday night and Wednesday, where they hung out until the early hours the following day.

‘Romeo is good looking, talented and very charming so it’s not hard to see why so many women are keen to bag a date with him.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Romeo for comment.

Romeo and Kim were seen heading home from their cosy evening at London restaurant on Tuesday, making separate exits, before she drove the pair home.

Like Romeo, Kim has also followed in her father’s footsteps, working as DJ like her dad Alex Turnbull, who also was a member of band 23 Skidoo and founder of hip-hop label, Ronin Record, while her grandparents were artists William Turbull and Kim Lim.

While Romeo’s other flame Gray, also hails from a famous family, with her dad being fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, 52, who’s best known for shooting Kate Moss‘ iconic Calvin Klein Obsession ads back in the 90s.

But according to reports, Romeo is now enjoying spending time with Kim, who previously dated another famous nepo-baby - Madonna's son Rocco Ritchie (pictured together in 2017)

Once again following her father’s example, Gray has shot campaigns for numerous luxury brands including Loewe, Calvin Klein and Saint Laurent.

She also shot a string of A-listers including Jennifer Lopez for the cover of The Wall Street Journal for Harper’s Bazaar.

Romeo and Gray were first spotted at Paris Fashion Week together in September, before hitting the headlines with their PDA-filled outing last month.

The lovebirds, despite being joined by pals, couldn’t keep their hands off each other and took in the sights of the city before stopping for a drink.

Romeo has been linked to several women in recent weeks after emerging back on the dating scene following his split from long term girlfriend Mia Regan.

Just days before he was first spotted with Gray, he was pictured sneaking out of a boozy Fashion Week party in London with Amelia Gray Hamlin – the daughter of reality star Lisa Rinna and actor Harry Hamlin.

In images obtained by The Sun, Romeo was pictured leaving the Perfect Magazine x Grey Goose Altius vodka party through a back door.

Model Amelia, who dated Scott Disick from 2020 to 2021, was seen heading down the street with Romeo and a female pal before jumping into a car, which headed to Twenty Two Hotel in London’s trendy Mayfair district.

This outing was just hours after he was seen enjoying an evening with social media influencer Sophie Julia.

She and Amelia are no strangers to one another, as social media snaps showed them enjoying lunch together alongside Romeo and a group of others in the capital.

Romeo also appeared in another cosy selfie with Sophie, after she gushed that her trip to London was ‘the week of a lifetime.’

Romeo announced he and Mia had broken up after five years of dating in February, following weeks of speculation surrounding their relationship, mounting after he failed to post a Valentine’s Day tribute to her.

It was claimed the couple went their separate ways after an argument, with Mia moving out of the home they shared together.

Confirming their separation, Romeo wrote on Instagram: ‘Mooch and I have parted ways after 5 years of love, we still have a lot of respect for each other, and still hold a strong friendship and always will.’

Sharing a picture of herself with Romeo on her Instagram Stories, Mia wrote: ‘This is me an Ro, we have grown up with each other since we were 16!! Love takes different forms & paths as you mature.

‘We aren’t together romantically but we do share lots & lots of love for one another… after 5 years we friendzoned each other.’

Royal fans can take a step back in time as a collection of keepsakes that once belonged to King Charles‘s trusted employee is set to be auctioned off.

The collection of John Hitchings, who worked for the monarch for more than 60 years until his death in 2020, includes 43 Christmas cards issued by Charles and may fetch up to £15,000 at auction with Penzance-based Lay’s Auctioneers.

John Hitchings became a land steward for the Duchy of Cornwall in 1959 and knew Charles for over 60 years until he died in 2020.

He kept hold of every Christmas card he was sent by Charles from 1977 to 2019 as well as souvenirs from the 1981 Royal wedding.

The images on the front of the cards chart Charles’ life from a bachelor to Diana, fatherhood and latterly his marriage to Camilla.

There are notes addressed to him from both Charles and Diana, making them sought-after by collectors.

The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established in 1337 which funds the public, charitable and private activities of the Prince of Wales and his family.

As the land steward, Mr Hitchings was the Duchy’s public face and responsible for all aspects of its property and land management.

Mr Hitchings established a Central District office which managed over 75,000 acres, including large areas of Dartmoor and the South West Foreshore.

During his time at the Duchy, he and his wife Christina attended the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana and he managed many Royal visits.

Charles was described as being very ‘hands-on’ and involved in the running of the Duchy and Mr Hitchings had regular contact over the years.

Lay’s Auctioneers, of Penzance, Cornwall, say it is one of the largest Royal collections of its type to come on to the market.

The material, which is split into over 50 lots, is expected to spark a bidding war.

Specialist Mimi Connell-Lay said: ‘The collection of the late John Hitchings is a joyful celebration of the long career of a dedicated and much respected royal employee.

‘He was a man who ensured the smooth running of the everyday affairs of the Duchy of Cornwall, and by default, the practical life of the then Prince Charles, the Duke of Cornwall.

‘John gave decades of trusted, loyal service and was a valued and respected employee of King Charles whilst he was The Prince of Wales, which is reflected in the many years worth of cards, gifts and letters that he received from his Royal Highness.

‘This fascinating collection spans a remarkable period, from 1977 to 2019.

‘Starting when King Charles was a bachelor, the photographic cards show the progression of much of his life, through his marriage to Princess Diana, the birth and growing-up of his sons, divorce, and then marriage to Camilla, now Queen consort.

‘Along with the many other notes, letters and other royal items, it is so unusually extensive and a very special collection indeed.’

Diana´s ex-chauffeur settles slander claim against BBC over Panorama interview

The former chauffeur of Diana, Princess of Wales, has settled a High Court slander case with the BBC over claims he fed information to them before her famous Panorama interview.

Stephen Davies served as Diana’s chauffeur at the time of her interview with Martin Bashir in November 1995 but was sacked without explanation in March 1996.

Mr Davies took legal action against the BBC after an investigation into the interview in 2021 revealed a document from a meeting in September 1995 where Panorama sought to procure the interview.

The document stated that Diana and Earl Spencer were told by Mr Bashir that Mr Davies “feeds Today newspaper… change your chauffeur”.

It is a matter of profound regret to him that, as he now knows, the princess believed that he had betrayed her, and he was unable to correct the position before her tragic death

    Persephone Bridgman Baker

Mr Davies’ solicitors, Carter-Ruck, said a hearing on Tuesday was told that after he took legal action, the BBC accepted that the “serious and unfounded allegation” was “fabricated” and that it had agreed to pay a “sum of compensation” and his legal costs.

In a statement issued by the legal firm, Mr Davies said: “I am relieved that I have been able to clear my name, and my professional reputation as a chauffeur, through this legal process.

“I was shocked to hear that these false allegations had been made about me almost 30 years ago and were very likely to be the cause of my sudden termination.”

Carter-Ruck said that Persephone Bridgman Baker, representing Mr Davies, told the hearing before Mrs Justice Steyn that the implication that he had leaked confidential information was a “serious blot on his character”.

Diana was interviewed by Martin Bashir for BBC Panorama (BBC-TV Video/PA)

She said: “The allegation was fabricated. In March 1996, the claimant’s employment was terminated without explanation.

“The suggestion that the claimant violated the princess’s trust in this way created a serious blot on his character.

“The claimant was devastated by the termination of his employment with the princess; he had maintained a close professional relationship with the princess throughout the many years he had worked for her and he was given no reason for the termination.

“The claimant was tormented by speculation about what possible reason there could be for the termination of his employment and was acutely embarrassed about his dismissal.

“It is a matter of profound regret to him that, as he now knows, the princess believed that he had betrayed her, and he was unable to correct the position before her tragic death.”

The BBC Panorama interview with Diana and Mr Bashir was broadcast on November 20 1995, and featured her saying: “Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded”.

A subsequent inquiry by Lord Dyson found in 2021 that the BBC had covered up Mr Bashir’s “deceitful behaviour” and the journalist was in “serious breach” of the BBC’s producer guidelines when he faked bank statements and showed them to the earl to gain access to Diana.

Her sons, William and Harry, condemned the broadcaster for its treatment of their late mother and the corporation has since vowed never to air the interview again.

Ms Bridgman Baker added that the allegations against Mr Davies, who still works as a chauffeur, had since been repeated in the Netflix series, The Crown.

The BBC accepts that the allegation made about the claimant was and is wholly false and should never have been made and that it constitutes an attack on the claimant’s reputation both personally and professionally

    Samuel Rowe

Carter-Ruck added that Samuel Rowe, appearing for the BBC on Tuesday, said: “The BBC wishes to publicly apologise to the claimant for the publication of the allegation and the distress it has caused.

“The BBC accepts that the allegation made about the claimant was and is wholly false and should never have been made and that it constitutes an attack on the claimant’s reputation both personally and professionally.

“The BBC accepts that the allegation was likely to have caused Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to doubt the claimant’s loyalty and professionalism and may well have contributed to the claimant’s redundancy six months later.

“The BBC is sorry for the distress and harm suffered by the claimant. It is pleased that the parties have been able to resolve these issues.”
