David Beckham and Kevin Hart are back at it again! Beckham’s latest H&M Modern Essentials collection campaign is here, along with another new hilarious video starring him and his partner in crime, Hart.

For his first collection, Hart pretended to play Beckham in a movie, and now, the guys are taking the charade to Vegas for an “I Am Beckham” musical. “From day one of the first campaign we kind of hit it off straight away,” Beckham tells PeopleStyle at the launch of the new collection. “Even when the cameras went off, we were still like laughing and joking and talking about stuff. Honestly, it’s always a pleasure to work with him.”

And although the videos are hilarious, he’s so much more than just an exceedingly handsome face for the brand — he actually loves and wears the clothes in his everyday life.

“I don’t want to just be in the campaign and people think ‘I’m wearing the same jumper as him, but I don’t see him in it.’ I actually wear the clothes, and this is me every single day — jeans and a t-shirt or a shirt,” he shares. “I think that’s what people kind of respect and appreciate the fact that they are getting a piece of my style, and they like it apparently.”

While Beckham describes himself as a “very casual” dresser, he really appreciates formal attire. “I love to wear smart suits, and I like to feel smart when I go out for dinner but I also much prefer to wear jeans, T-shirts, trainers, boots, vintage boots and that’s kind of how I dress every single day.”

It’s no wonder then that his main style influencers are people who have an effortless way of dressing too. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Steve McQueen, and people like that, and James Dean. People like that I always look at their style and it’s just effortless. Most of the time it’s just a plain white T-shirt and a pair of jeans, but they make it look good.”

As for his stylish wife, designer Victoria Beckham, she just debuted the spring collection of her namesake brand during New York Fashion Week and as always, David and his family were seated front and center.

We already know that Victoria celebrated with some dancing (in the middle of Times Square to the Bee Gees!) but according to David there was even more partying that we didn’t see on Instagram. “We [celebrated] the night after the show. We always have a dinner for the team, and family and friends. We had a couple of glasses of wine, and she had a couple of glasses of her tequila. We toasted it.”

After with another successful H&M campaign from David, they will have a lot more to toast to!

What do you think of David’s new H&M collection?

Romeo Beckham looks practically identical to dad David after dyeing his hair platinum blonde — and the former soccer star couldn’t help but troll him about it!

Romeo, 18, has rocked long, flowing golden blonde hair for quite some time. But he just recently buzzed it off and bleached it to an icier shade reminiscent of the platinum hue his dad David, 46, had in the 2000s.

The budding model debuted the bright blonde switch-up on Instagram and thanked colorist Josh Wood for the look. “Here’s to expressing yourself through colour & a transformational cut ,” Wood wrote.

Romeo’s mom Victoria Beckham gave the style her stamp of approval. “Wow!!!! Love!!!!” she wrote on her son’s post.

Romeo shared another photo of his fresh hairstyle and David left a lighthearted comment about his son’s inspiration for the cut and color.

“Nice hair  @romeobeckham,” David said. “I wonder where u got that idea from .”

Nowadays David is sporting a slightly longer style in his natural brown color, but rocked the blonde hue in 2008 (pictured above).

Fans spotted the resemblance right away. “@davidbeckham Beckham, I can tell he has surely copied this hair from you. Beckham you had the best hairstyles ever, and you still have. This hairstyle was when you joined the LA Galaxy in 2007, Beckham, so amazing!!!!! #Beckham ,” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “@davidbeckham Like his dad in the 90’s/00s .”

Romeo has started to make his own mark on the fashion industry as he’s grown up, most notably landing his first magazine cover for L’Uomo Vogue‘s Generation Issue in January. And he’s gotten nothing but support from his famous family.

“incredible!! ,” said Romeo’s soon-to-be sister-in-law Nicola Peltz, who got engaged to the model’s older brother Brooklyn Beckham, 22, in July 2020.

David posted the magazine cover on his own Instagram feed and congratulated his son on the accomplishment. He wrote: “So proud of you @romeobeckham  What an incredible first cover for @luomovogue.”

There’s a story behind every magazine cover — and the December 1991 issue of British Vogue featuring Princess Diana is no exception.

How the cover came to be, as well as the late Princess of Wales’ friendship with then-British Vogue editor-in-chief Liz Tilberis, is covered in a recent episode of the podcast Blow Up: When Liz Tilberis Transformed Bazaar, a six-part series that examines the woman who went on to helm Harper’s Bazaar before her death in 1999 from ovarian cancer.

Long before that, though, was Diana’s 1991 British Vogue cover, which Tilberis orchestrated. The cover happened after two previous failed attempts, both of which were shot down by the palace, according to the podcast. But, when it came to the cover that finally took — shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier and featuring a closeup of Diana with a short haircut, long nails and wearing a black turtleneck — none other than supermodel Linda Evangelista might have been the one to push it over the line and actually make Tilberis’ long-held dream happen.

In the fall of 1991 at a reception for the British Fashion Council Awards, Princess Diana asked Tilberis to introduce her to Evangelista.

“Diana had always wanted to meet Linda,” said Patrick Jephson, Diana’s former private secretary. “She was intrigued by the supermodels, because those girls were the superstars of the time. And she was intrigued as to how they coped with the fame, you know?”

Diana, after all, did know a thing or two about being famous. When they met, “I think she asked us, Christy and Naomi, if we, if our diet was, like, McDonald’s and cigarettes,” Evangelista said. “At that point, it was whatever I wanted to eat, you know?”

Tilberis and Princess Diana’s hairstylist Sam McKnight hatched a plan for the four of them to have breakfast together at Joe’s Cafe, owned by a friend of Tilberis and attached to Joseph’s of London. “It was very trendy in Chelsea, where all the cool stores are,” McKnight said.

They wanted somewhere “where we can talk, we can all chat and giggle,” McKnight added. “And we don’t want anyone to see us. It was going to be a private thing. So Liz arranged for them to open the cafe early. Now, the princess would have been absolutely mortified if she had thought they had opened up just for her. So they had to kind of pretend they were open.”

To make it not look like they had closed down just for Princess Diana, Tilberis and McKnight cast attractive people to sit at the tables of the cafe and pretend to be patrons — though they were really the staff of Joseph’s.  They were asked to sit at the cafe’s tables, “and so it looked like it was fancy,” McKnight said. (Princess Diana didn’t know about this ruse, nor did Evangelista, the latter revealed in the episode.)

“I was nervous because I really loved her and I respected her,” Evangelista said of the former Princess of Wales. “And then you meet her. I just remember how lovely she was. And we had some giggles, and she was, like, very open and honest.”

McKnight added of the sit-down, “There was no sort of world-changing chat. It was chit chat, you know — it was kind of giggling and gossiping.”

The secret mission of the cafe meetup, McKnight said, was for Tilberis to convince Diana to let her use the closeup shot taken by Demarchelier for the December 1991 cover.

A photograph of Princess Diana shot by Patrick Demarchelier that was turned down for the December 1990 cover of ‘British Vogue’ by the palace.

Tilberis had tried two times before to get Diana to appear on the cover of British Vogue. The first, an informal shot photographed by Demarchelier, was a black-and-white image of Diana playing with her sons Prince William and Prince Harry in a barn at the family’s country home, Highgrove. The palace said no to the cover. Later, British Vogue wanted to put a more formal shot of Diana in a tiara on its cover. The palace, again, said no.

“There was no explanation, but Liz had a feeling it was a way of reining in the princess, whose restlessness was becoming publicly apparent,” Blow Up co-host Cynthia True said.

At last, in Joe’s Cafe, it was an urge from Evangelista that pushed Diana over the line. By the end of their breakfast date, Diana said yes to appearing on the cover, “and told Liz to move forward with the chosen photo without seeking permission from the palace,” True said. “She would handle it.”

“And Liz got a magnificent cover,” McKnight said on the show. “And she did not force, she waited for it to organically happen, you know?”

The December 1991 edition of British Vogue went on to become a bestseller, and featured Princess Diana on the cover of the magazine for the first time in 10 years. The following month, Tilberis was named editor-in-chief at Harper’s Bazaar.

Her friendship with Princess Diana certainly didn’t end after Tilberis finally landed her coveted Princess of Wales cover, though. The two met because British Vogue editors advised the Princess of Wales on her official wardrobe, and by the time Tilberis became editor-in-chief of the magazine in 1987 after the departure of Anna Wintour for Vogue’s American iteration, she and Diana were friends who had lunch together frequently, bonding over both being mothers of young boys.

The two took part in what the podcast called  “marathon phone calls” after Tilberis moved to New York City to accept the job at Harper’s Bazaar in 1992. “Liz was, I would say, kind of like a big sister-ish figure, a big sister that accepted Diana as she was,” Jephson said.

After Tilberis’ ovarian cancer diagnosis in 1993, according to the episode, Princess Diana was one of the first to call when she was out of the hospital and stayed in touch with her almost every day, either by phone or via a handwritten note transmitted by fax.

“She called a lot and they would have a lot of chats,” said Tilberis’ former assistant Stephanie Albertson. “That was a very real friendship, and I remember once she called and the message was, ‘I’m just watching a movie with the kids.’ And what did she say? She said something like, ‘I’m sitting in bed eating popcorn with the kids — just have her call me back.’ ”

As Tilberis underwent chemotherapy, “Diana distracted her with light gossip about mutual acquaintances in London, and Liz ignored the frequent call waiting beeps,” according to True. “ ‘What’s that?’ the princess asked. When Liz explained, Diana sounded relieved. In England, she said it would be MI5. The Ministry of Intelligence was rumored at that time to have bugged the princess’ phone.”

According to Jephson, “A lot of what I saw in the friendship between Liz and Diana was an acceptance of there being no need to be anything other than yourself. And for Diana, that was refreshing and different and rare, because she didn’t have the kind of husband or partner that luckier people have in whose presence she could relax and be herself. So when she had a friend like Liz, who didn’t expect her to be anything more than she was, who didn’t want her to be anything other than happy and relaxed, this was, I think, a weight lifted from her shoulders.”

For Tilberis’ part, according to True, she said there were very few people, apart from Diana, who knew how to talk to someone with a cancer diagnosis.

When it came to photographing Diana for British Vogue, Tilberis felt that previous portraits of her for the magazine were too formal, failing to capture the warm, funny woman Tilberis knew so well. They shared a sense of humor, and at one of their many lunches, when Tilberis complimented Diana on her Chanel loafers, Diana answered dryly that the entwined Cs of the fashion house’s logo stood for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, who were by now known to be romantically involved, something Princess Diana was perhaps more aware of than most anyone.

When Tilberis won an award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Princess Diana honored her friend in a speech in New York City in January 1995. Tilberis then accompanied Princess Diana at what would become her one and only Met Gala appearance, which took place in December 1996 with the newly divorced Diana wearing Dior. Though it was widely known that Tilberis was ill, absolutely no one would have expected that Diana would die before her dear friend, losing her life as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Aug. 31, 1997 at just 36 years old — two years before Tilberis herself died of cancer at 51 years old on April 21, 1999.

In a new book, Richard Dalton, who worked with the Princess of Wales for a decade, calls her wedding day hair in 1981 “a disaster”

If Princess Diana’s former hairdresser Richard Dalton could say anything to his most famous client today, he tells PEOPLE he’d keep it pretty simple: “How do you want your hair done?”

August 31 marked 27 years since the death of Princess Diana following a car crash in Paris at just 36 years old. Though Dalton hadn’t worked with Diana for six years at the time of her passing—having left her employ in 1991 after a decade of service—he always held his memories of her close. Now, with the encouragement of his friend Renae Plant, curator of The Princess Diana Museum, Dalton has shared those memories in his new book with Plant, It’s All About the Hair—My Decade with Diana (out now), offering never-before-told stories about the beloved royal.

“As a loyal subject to the royal family, I never shared anything publicly until now to protect her,” Dalton tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I am 76 years old, [the] same age as [King] Charles, and I wanted to document my real story. [It’s] not a hairdresser’s job to kiss and tell. Now I feel comfortable — 27 years have passed, and nothing in my book is detrimental to Diana’s character. Just wonderful memories.”

Dalton had been responsible for styling Diana’s hair leading up to her wedding to Charles on July 29, 1981, though he wasn’t the one who styled her hair on the big day. That task was handled by his colleague, Kevin Shanley.

In the book, Dalton calls Diana’s wedding day hair “a disaster” — and the bride agreed.

“Diana did express to me that she wished she could do the wedding over again to ‘get the hair right,’ ” Dalton tells PEOPLE. “However, she never mentioned any other regrets while I did her hair.”

Though he would sometimes only get 15 minutes to style the most famous woman in the world’s hair (and did so everywhere from airplane bathrooms to over the kitchen sink at his own home!), he “never felt pressure,” Dalton tells PEOPLE.

Princess Diana and Dalton loved to push the boundaries with her hair, which had to be styled every which way, including with a myriad of tiaras and hats atop her head that completed her look.

“I loved taking risks with Diana’s hair by trying new things like the orchards in Thailand,” he says, referring to his favorite hair moment he ever did for the princess. (Dalton says Diana liked it, too.)

For an event on February 4, 1988, Princess Diana wore a fuschia and purple Catherine Walker dress (which Dalton also wrote in the book was his favorite dress of hers). They were staying at the Imperial Hotel in Bangkok, Dalton writes, “and I literally went around the hotel all day pinching orchids from the floral arrangements to use as accessories in Diana’s hair to match her dress,” according to the book. “Whatever I saw, I took — and nobody stopped me. Eventually, I got all the colors I wanted to use — they represented Thailand and also matched her dress.”

For the event, Dalton styled Diana’s hair in a chignon updo and pinned the flowers to one side of her hair, one by one, he recalls.

“Fresh flowers had never been done before, and she looked sensational that night — and she knew it,” Dalton tells PEOPLE.

During their decade together, Dalton saw Princess Diana at her best — her witty sense of humor, her dedication to motherhood, her commitment to royal work (“Diana was very conscious that she did not want her hair to overshadow the charity she was representing that day and supporting,” Dalton says). He also saw the former Princess of Wales at her worst, including moments of intensely low self-esteem during the valleys of her marriage to the future King Charles, which ultimately ended in a 1992 separation, the year after Dalton stopped working for her. (Charles and Diana’s divorce was finalized in 1996.)

“Some days she would be happy, some days quiet, some days talkative and some days sad,” Dalton shares in the book. “I experienced all of these with Diana.”

He added that, on her lower days, “sparks would be flying off the hair dryer,” he quips in the book. “I got used to the stress.”

It was only after he stopped working with her in 1991 that Dalton says he realized how much stress he was under as the man responsible for the hair of the most photographed woman in the world.

When he did her hair for the last time, Dalton says she “was going through a really rough stage of her life with Charles and wanted a fresh staff and could tell I wanted my life back,” he tells PEOPLE. “She said, ‘I think [you want] your freedom back’ — and it was mutual. I didn’t realize how much pressure I was under until I left.”

Much like the 2,700 items in The Princess Diana Museum, Plant tells PEOPLE she saw preserving Dalton’s stockpile of memories as a preservation of history. Plant is also offering a special bonus: a free one-week membership to the Princess Diana Museum for anyone who purchases the book between Aug, 31 and Sept. 7.

“Once these people pass away, their memories are gone forever,” she says, adding “and we know hairdressers are like best friends and get to hear it all.”

Princess Diana remains renowned for her iconic sense of style — which sometimes meant getting inventive on the fly.

The late Princess of Wales made a fashion splash when she wore an emerald-and-diamond choker necklace as a headband in Australia with the future King Charles in 1985, and her former hairdresser Richard Dalton is sharing why — along with the fashion hack that made it happen!

“I think she had sunburn on her neck so we said, ‘Let’s make a headband of it,’ ” Dalton recalled at the Styling Princess Diana panel at Fotografiska New York on May 21, celebrating PEOPLE’s 50th anniversary.

“I asked Evelyn, her dresser, for six inches of knicker elastic, [the kind used by] grannies,” he added with a laugh about how he transformed the dazzling accessory into a headpiece. In 2022, Kate Middleton brought the choker out of the royal vault and wore it for the Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in Boston.

Princess Diana’s Most Glamorous Looks of All Time

Dalton first met Princess Diana, then Lady Diana Spencer, when she was 17. He went on to style her hair for more than a decade, including royal tours around the world.

“My favorite [hairstyle] would be Thailand,” he said at Fotografiska, recalling the floral look from 1988. “[She wore a] purple and shocking pink dress and I said, ‘Why don’t we do orchids?’ I went into the hotel, stealing flowers for the princess. This was my favorite. She loved it.”

Dalton is set to publish a new book titled It’s All About the Hair — My Decade with Diana, with The Princess Diana Museum founder Renae Plant, and cited the surprising impact of Diana’s tresses.

“We decided whatever charity she was representing, the hair would sometimes take away from what she was doing,” Dalton recalled. “[In] Saudi Arabia, she wanted it short. We would cut it every day about a quarter of an inch,” he said. “[After] eight weeks, nobody noticed!”

Every Time Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Have Worn Princess Diana’s Jewelry

The choker that Princess Diana memorably wore on her head to the gala dinner in Melbourne was paired with a cerulean one-shoulder gown by her wedding dress designer Elizabeth Emanuel, who also spoke at the Styling Princess Diana panel.

During the conversation, moderated by PEOPLE’s Senior Royals Editor Erin Hill, Emanuel said the assignment of a lifetime was Diana’s 1981 wedding day.

“The aim was to make a fairytale princess dress,” said Emanuel, who famously created the voluminous ivory ball gown with 25-foot train with her former husband David — along with a secret backup dress the bride never knew about.

“We were students, we loved drama, we had free rein, nobody told us what to do, and I think that was the fun of it. That was why the dress was so special,” Emanuel explained. “There was an innocence about her and us.”

“No feedback from the palace, nothing, no protocol,” Elizabeth said of the creative freedom they had in dressing the princess. “I don’t think they expected such a reaction, I think they underestimated the effect of Diana.”

Countless conspiracy theories emerged after Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997 — and it was Operation Paget’s job to investigate them all.

The car accident that killed Princess Diana — along with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed, and the driver of the car, Henri Paul — occurred in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, when their vehicle crashed after being pursued by paparazzi. But alternative theories about Diana’s devastating death began to develop almost instantly, with the most prevalent rumor being that her death was not, in fact, an accident.

Mohamed Al Fayed, Dodi’s father, was one of the most vocal supporters of that allegation. The Egyptian businessman, who owned the British department store Harrods and the Ritz Paris at the time, alleged that the British royal family orchestrated the death of his son and the People’s Princess. He claimed that Prince Philip, Diana’s former father-in-law, ordered British security services to assassinate the royal to stop her from marrying Dodi, who was Muslim.

To investigate this theory (and other allegations), Operation Paget was formed in January 2004 at the request of the royal coroner Michael Burgess. The group of investigators — which included over a dozen senior British Metropolitan Police officers — spent three years and millions of dollars to determine the cause of Princess Diana’s death, per the BBC. In the end, their findings concluded that the car accident that killed Diana, Dodi and Paul was the result of “grossly negligent driving” — and not a royal conspiracy.

How Did Princess Diana Die? The True Story of Her Tragic Car Accident

“When you look at most incidents, accidents, you find there’s a chain of events, and if any one of those chain of events had been different, it might not have led to that happening,” David Douglas, a senior police officer and member of the Operation Paget team, explained on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, 25 years after the crash.

He added, “It’s my absolute total belief it was a terrible, tragic accident in which three people lost their lives and one other person had their life turned upside down.”

Operation Paget was also instrumental in the depiction of Diana’s death the sixth and final season of Netflix’s The Crown. The show’s executive producers worked to “delicately, thoughtfully” recreate her death by studying the nearly 900-page report, as well as other official investigations, books and documentaries, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“There’s a huge amount of respect from us all, I hope that’s evident,” executive producer Suzanne Mackie said about their work on season 6 at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August 2023.

But how did Operation Paget determine the car crash that killed Diana was accidental? Here’s everything to know about the exhaustive British investigation into Princess Diana’s death and its findings.

    What was Operation Paget?

Conducted by the British Metropolitan Police, Operation Paget was an official investigation into the conspiracy theories surrounding the 1997 death of Princess Diana. It was launched in January 2004, after French authorities concluded their own investigation, and led by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens.

“Every single aspect of conspiracy theories and the like will be looked at by my team and the coroner,” Stevens said in 2004, per the BBC. “We have got to try and do everything we can to draw a line one way or another under this inquiry.”

    Why was Operation Paget established?

Operation Paget was established as a result of Mohamed Al Fayed’s insistence that the deaths of his son, Dodi, and Princess Diana were not accidental.

“I believe in my heart 99.9% that it was not an accident,” Al Fayed told The Mirror in February 1998. “That car didn’t accidentally crash. There was a conspiracy. I will not rest until I have established exactly what happened.”

Al Fayed believed that Diana’s death was ordered by Prince Philip and carried out by Britain’s MI6 to prevent her from marrying his son, a Muslim. Because the claims alleged crimes committed on British soil — specifically, conspiracy to commit murder — the police inquest was legally necessary, according to the BBC.

    What did Operation Paget involve?

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Superindendent David Douglas (L) and the former Commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police, Lord Stevens answer reporters' questions during a press conference after an official British police inquiry into the Paris car crash which killed Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed on December 14, 2006 in London, England. Lord Stevens, who led the three year investigation found there was no evidence that the couple were murdered. Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed died when the car in which they were passengers crashed in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel, Paris in August 1997.

Operation Paget expanded to not only investigate Al Fayed’s claims, but also any allegations that were made in the media, legal submissions and formal correspondence since the crash occurred in 1997. The extensive investigation involved a dozen experienced police officers, took nearly three years to complete and cost millions, according to The New York Times.

To help conduct their investigation, British authorities collected more than 600 pieces of evidence and re-examined the information uncovered by the French inquiries, The New York Times reported. They also enlisted the help of lasers, computer models and 3D technology to recreate the scene of the crash, according to the BBC, to provide an “enhanced understanding” of the accident.

Why was King Charles interviewed for Operation Paget?

British investigators interviewed more than 300 individuals for Operation Paget — including the future King Charles.

Charles was questioned by U.K. police in 2005 in relation to a note that Princess Diana had written in 1995. The note read: “My husband is planning ‘an accident’ in my car, brake failure and serious head injury … to make the path clear for him to marry.”

Diana also alleged in the note, which was made public by the Daily Mail in 2003, that Charles wanted to marry Tiggy Legge-Bourke, a nanny for Prince William and Prince Harry. Additionally, she claimed that Charles’ now-wife, Queen Camilla, “is nothing but a decoy.”

The interview with Prince Charles secretly took place on Dec. 6, 2005, at St. James’s Palace in London and was conducted by Stevens, the former head of Scotland Yard and the head of Operation Paget. During their meeting, Stevens read Charles Diana’s note — and asked him if he had discussed it with her or knew of her feelings. Charles declined having any knowledge of the note.

“At the end of the day he was incredibly cooperative because he had nothing to hide,” Stevens told the Daily Mail in 2021 about the interview.

    What did Operation Paget conclude?

After nearly three years, Operation Paget concluded its inquiry and published an 871-page report with its findings. The report, which was made public on Dec. 14, 2006, ultimately concluded that Princess Diana’s death was an accident and there was no validity to the various conspiracy theories that had surfaced over the years.

“Our conclusion is that, on the evidence available at this time, there was no conspiracy to murder any of the occupants of the car,” Stevens said as he presented his findings, per The New York Times. “This was a tragic accident.”

The report also debunked the rumors that Diana was pregnant at the time of the crash, that her calls were being monitored by Britain’s MI6 and that her house was bugged. It did confirm, however, that Henri Paul — the driver of the vehicle — was drunk and driving at an excessive speed, and that the seat belts in the vehicle were not used.  However, Stevens did not blame any of those factors as the sole cause of the deadly crash.

“A crash of this nature is similar to a major crash of an airliner,” he said, per The New York Times. “There is a long chain of events. Take out any link of that chain and this would not have happened.”

In October 2007, the evidence and findings from Operation Paget were used at the official coroner’s inquest into Princess Diana’s death. Six months later, in April 2008, the jury ruled that the deaths had been caused by “grossly negligent driving.” The jurors also cited the speed and erratic driving of both the Mercedes and the following vehicles, the driver Henri Paul’s intoxication and the fact that the deceased were not wearing seat belts as contributing factors.

What was the reaction to Operation Paget’s findings?

Before the Operation Paget report was released to the public, Prince William and Prince Harry were briefed on its findings by Stevens. According to The Independent, William and Harry welcomed the report’s “conclusive findings” in their mother’s death.

“It was quite emotional,” Stevens later told The Daily Beast about his meeting with Diana’s two sons, echoing that they were satisfied with the report’s conclusions.

However, Al Fayed — whose claims of conspiracy helped launch Operation Paget — was displeased with the initial findings of the three-year investigation. Following the report’s publication, he dismissed it as “garbage” and a “cover-up,” according to The Independent.

“I’m certain 100 percent that a leading member of the royal family has planned that and that the whole plot was executed on his order with the help of members of MI6,” he told reporters after the report was published in December 2006, per The New York Times.

But after the completion of the coroner’s inquest in 2008, where 11 jurors found Dodi and Diana’s deaths to be the result of “negligent driving,” Fayed shared he was “disappointed” — but ultimately accepted the verdict.

“I’ve had enough,” he told Britain’s ITV News at Ten. “I’m leaving this to God to get my revenge.”

How did Operation Paget inform The Crown showrunners?

    'The Crown'.

    ‘The Crown’.Netflix

The sixth and final season of the award-winning Netflix series The Crown depicts Princess Diana’s death — and took careful consideration with how they would portray the tragic event.

Netflix confirmed in October 2022 that the “exact moment of the crash impact will not be shown,”  and in August 2023 the show’s executive producers, Andy Harries and Suzanne Mackie, spoke more about the approach they took with Diana’s death.

“There were very careful, long conversations about how we were going to do it,” Mackie said at the Edinburgh TV Festival. “The audience will judge it in the end, but I think it’s been delicately, thoughtfully recreated.”

What Happens to Princess Diana in The Crown Season 6? A Look at the Real-Life Events

Part of that thoughtful recreation involved gathering information from the investigations that were conducted after Princess Diana’s death, including Operation Paget. Though The Crown does not address any of the conspiracy theories that developed following the Paris car crash, it does adhere to Operation Paget’s findings that the accident was a result of negligent driving, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“We very much followed the given facts,” Christian Schwochow, who directed two episodes of season 6, told the Los Angeles Times.

The Crown’s research team also referred to Operation Paget to understand more about Diana and Dodi’s romance in the weeks leading up to the accident and how the events unfolded that summer.

“We needed to understand not only the timeline of the events that summer but also Dodi and Diana’s emotional states and the evolving nature of their short relationship,” Annie Sulzberger, head of research on the series, told the outlet.

King Charles reportedly had a private meeting with David Beckham after being unable to meet with his son Prince Harry during his visit to the U.K. earlier in the week.

According to The Times, the former England football captain, 49, met the King, 75, for a “private meeting” on Friday.

“Beckham is understood to have visited Charles to learn more about his charity, the King’s Foundation,” the outlet added.

PEOPLE understands that the Duke of Sussex invited his father, King Charles, his brother, Prince William and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, to his celebratory Invictus Games event on Wednesday, May 8, which they did not attend. The Princess of Wales, 42, is outside of the public eye while receiving cancer treatment, while Prince William, 41, conducted investitures at Windsor Castle on May 8.

King Charles recently resumed forward-facing duties while receiving cancer treatment, and hosted the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace on May 8. The party coincided with the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry launched in London in 2014.

It emerged earlier this week that Prince Harry, 39, wouldn’t be able to meet with his father the King during his time in the U.K. due to the monarch’s “full” schedule.

“In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the U.K. this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon,” a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said on May 7.

The timing could have aligned for Beckham and the King to meet at his Highgrove home, as the monarch was seen leaving Windsor Castle en route to Highgrove, Gloucestershire on May 10. The area is home to the King’s beloved country home Highgrove House, which has been a respite for the royal since he bought it in 1980.

Beckham received his OBE from Queen Elizabeth for services to soccer in 2003 and has socially known the royal family for years, having attended the royal weddings of both Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018 with his wife, Victoria Beckham. Like many Brits, Beckham stood in line for 12 hours in London to pay respects to the late Queen Elizabeth when her coffin laid in state at Westminster Hall following her death in September 2022.

Why the Royal Family Did Not Attend Prince Harry’s Invictus Games Service in London

On May 9, King Charles made his first solo engagement since resuming his royal duties at the Royal School of Military Engineering.

Before his Invictus-related trip, which was highlighted by a panel on May 7 and the Service of Thanksgiving on May 8, Prince Harry was most recently in the U.K. to visit his father following Buckingham Palace’s announcement of the sovereign’s cancer diagnosis in February.

The Duke of Sussex then traveled to Canada for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebration with his wife Meghan Markle, and revealed in an interview there that he hoped to see his father as much as possible.

When Good Morning America’s Will Reeve asked Harry about how he first learned of his father’s cancer diagnosis, he replied, “I spoke to him. I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”

“Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that,” Prince Harry said. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to her home state of California after stepping back from their royal roles in 2020, and live there with their children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

As for whether King Charles’ diagnosis could have a “reunifying effect” on the royal family, Harry, who spent time with Invictus Games competitors and their families at the countdown kickoff, said: “Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure. Throughout all these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together.”

Following the Duke of Sussex’s solo trip to the U.K. for the Invictus Games anniversary, he and Meghan arrived in Nigeria on May 10 for their first international tour since stepping back from their royal roles.

The couple are in the country at the invitation of the Chief of Defense Staff, Nigeria’s highest-ranking military official, and the busy itinerary highlighting Invictus continues on May 11 and May 12.

Prince Harry Duke of Sussex, and Britain's Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, arrive for an exhibition sitting volleyball match at Nigeria Unconquered, a local charity organisation that supports wounded, injured, or sick servicemembers, in Abuja on May 11, 2024 as they visit Nigeria as part of celebrations of Invictus Games anniversary.

Romeo cut a stylish figure in a black leather Rhude X Lamborghini jacket on Tuesday night as he was pictured out and about in the city.

While Brooklyn channelled David, Romeo appears to have taken inspiration from his mother’s stylish 2001 wardrobe as she previously stepped out in a similar style Dolce & Gabbana leather jacket.

The motocross jacket worn by Victoria originally cost £965, however, they are now being snapped up second-hand for £7,800 on one pre-loved site.

The jacket proved incredibly popular at the time with stars including Naomi Campbell, Madonna and Jennifer Saunders being spotted in it.

Earlier this year, Nicola also paid homage to her mother-in-law as she stepped out in the exact same leather jacket.

Paris Fashion Week runs from September 23 to October 1, with a string of major designers choosing the City of Light to showcase their next collections.

L’Oreal kicked things off on Monday with a star-studded runway featuring the likes of Kendall Jenner, Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria and Cara Delevingne.

Tuesday saw Dior welcomed Anya Taylor-Joy and Rosamund Pike to the FROW before Saint Laurent was the highlight of the evening calendar.
