Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hint there are more quasi-royal African tours in the pipeline as they thank Nigeria for ‘the first of many memorable trips’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hinted they are planning more quasi-royal African tours in future after thanking Nigeria for the ‘first of many memorable trips’.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been flying back to California after leaving Abuja yesterday following a three-day visit to the country at the military’s invitation.

And the couple hailed their time in Nigeria as ‘unforgettable’ in a press release on Sussex.com today following the visit related to Harry’s Invictus Games competition.

Their statement added: ‘The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organisers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.’

But the Sussexes did not mention the news emerging overnight that their Archewell Foundation was listed as ‘delinquent’ by a US charity regulator. Sources close to the couple claimed today that this was because state officials did not process a cheque.

The couple hailed their time in Nigeria as ‘unforgettable’ in a press release on Sussex.com

There have been eight press releases on Sussex.com about the couple’s Nigeria trip which took them to Abuja and Lagos and ran last week from Friday until Sunday.

Harry and Meghan are thought to have flown from Abuja to London Heathrow yesterday before heading onto Los Angeles to be reunited with their children Archie and Lilibet.

Today, in a press release about their trip coming to end, the Sussexes referred to the reception they received in Lagos and their attendance at a polo match.

The statement said: ‘Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex concluded their unforgettable trip to Nigeria with a cultural reception in Lagos and a polo match fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.

‘The couple was greeted with a beautiful pre-game parade – a vibrant display of young enthusiasts in polo gear, proudly waving the green and white flags of Nigeria – followed by a procession of older children on horseback, setting the tone for a day filled with sport and spirit.

‘The friendly rivalry between the teams, aptly named Duke vs Duchess, added a layer of excitement to the event, with the Duchess’s team claiming victory with a score of 5-3. The day was capped off with the couple presenting medals, a gesture of appreciation for the players’ prolific talent and dedication.

‘The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organisers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.’

It follows Harry and Meghan’s visit to the country to promote mental health for soldiers and empower young people.

The couple attended events related to Harry’s Invictus Games, which Nigeria is seeking to host in future.

The Sussexes were also welcomed at the Lagos State Government House and met military officials at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Following their trip, sources close to Harry and Meghan claimed today that the Archewell Foundation was branded ‘delinquent’ because state officials did not process a $200 (£160) cheque.

The organisation was also billed as ‘not in good standing’ by the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers – part of the Department of Justice in California, the state where the Duke and Duchess live in a £12million mansion and operate the charity.

The registry said Archewell failed to properly submit its annual report or renewal fees and has banned it from either fundraising or distributing charitable funds for now.

But Sussex sources claimed today that the ‘delinquency notice’ was actually issued because Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office did not process the $200 cheque.

This was a different explanation to the one offered by the same Sussex sources last night, who claimed that the paperwork was filed on time but the discrepancy was down to a cheque which accompanied the documents going missing in the post.

Sussex sources told MailOnline this morning that the Archewell Foundation’s tax filings for 2022 were submitted in full in accordance with all regulations in the US, which was widely reported in the media last December – including by this website.

They said the California state filing, renewal and required payment were sent and delivered to the Attorney General’s office via tracked mail, and received on time.

However, the delinquency notice was then issued on May 3 because the cheque had not been processed by the Attorney General’s Office, according to the sources.

Until Archewell Foundation officials could confirm the tracked mail and receive acknowledgment of receipt, they assumed that the cheque had been lost in the mail – hence the initial explanation, which has now turned out to be false.

MailOnline also understands that the Department of Justice will issue a statement later today with further clarification on the matter.

The $200 cheque was for an annual registration renewal fee, which is determined by a sliding scale based on an organisation’s total revenue.

In Archewell’s case, its most recent revenue was about $2million – putting it within the ‘between $1,000,001 and $5 million’ section of the sliding scale.

The $200 figure has been confirmed to MailOnline by a source close to the Sussexes.

It comes as Harry and Meghan were yesterday flying back from their high profile three-day visit to Abuja and Lagos in Nigeria that was dubbed a royal tour in all but name.

During the trip the Sussexes announced a partnership between the Archewell Foundation and the Geanco Foundation, a charity in Nigeria which leads surgical missions, promotes maternal health and provides scholarships to young female victims of terrorism.

The Archewell Foundation is a non-profit organisation created by Harry and Meghan when they moved to the US after stepping down as senior royals in 2020.

On its website, it says its mission is to ‘show up, do good’, adding: ‘We meet the moment by showing up, taking action and using our unparalleled spotlight to uplift and unite communities – local and global – through acts of service and compassion.’

The foundation is separate from the couple’s Archewell media and business divisions which have been involved in the Netflix and Spotify productions.

It follows Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria from Friday until Sunday to promote mental health for soldiers and empower young people.

The couple were invited to the West African nation by its military, and attended events related to Harry’s Invictus Games, which Nigeria is seeking to host in future.

The couple were also welcomed at the Lagos State Government House and met military officials at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

According to tax filings disclosed by Archewell last December, the organisation had suffered an $11million (£9million) decline in donations in 2022 compared to the previous year.

The records showed that the charity received just over $2million (£1.6million) in charitable donations in 2022 compared to $13million (£10million) in 2021.

And while in 2021 Archewell had reported a revenue of more than $9million (£7million), the December 2023 filings showed that by 2022 it had recorded a loss of more than $674,000 (£537,000) due to costs of $2.67million (£2.13million).

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the West African nation last weekend to promote mental health for soldiers and empower young people.

But royal commentator Ingrid Seward claimed Meghan took the lead during the tour which she described as “Harry’s show”.

She told GB News: “Meghan manages to make everything about her. This was Harry’s show. This was for the Invictus Games. Nigeria is the first African country to join the Invictus Games.

“And it was Harry’s show. And yet, Meghan seems to take over. She has a big fan base there, but I just thought it was a shame. Harry always seems to be slightly pushed into the background unless he’s doing something sporty, like playing basketball or playing polo.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle break silence after Archewell charity ruled ‘delinquent’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have broken their silence after it came to light that their charitable foundation, Archewell, has been named “delinquent”.

But in the couple’s first official statement following their three-day tour of Nigeria, the Sussex’s have failed to mention anything about the scandal, instead divulging more details of their trip.

A note, released on the Sussex’s official website, read: “The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organizers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.”

Prince Harry’s royal rift reaches ‘point of no return’ as reconciliation claims torn apart

Prince Harry’s rift with the Royal Family has reached the “point of no return” after he failed to meet with his father, King Charles, during his recent trip back home, the monarch’s former butler has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex was in the UK last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, giving a speech at a special service in St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday.

But he did not meet with Charles, who attended a Buckingham Palace garden party and held his weekly audience with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the same day, while he also carried out another engagement in Wiltshire on Thursday.

Now Grant Harrold, who worked for the monarch between 2004-2011, while speaking to Slingo, described the latest move as “odd” and claimed it showed the relationship between father and son is “so badly damaged”.

Meghan Markle’s Nigeria outfits ranked from major peach blunder to £3,184 dress

Meghan Markle’s three-day visit to Nigeria with her husband, Prince Harry, did not disappoint royal fashion fans. She graced the country with sentimental throwbacks, high-end looks, local fashion pieces – as well as the odd fashion blunder.

Nevertheless, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, has established herself as a fashion icon among her fans, by wearing high-end brands such as Carolina Herrera and Johanna Ortiz, alongside championing local talent, such as Oríré for the visit.

However, despite opting for expensive garments, this hasn’t stopped some fashion fans criticising some of Meghan’s looks during her three-day tour.

Meghan Markle’s heartfelt four words to Nigerian audience about Archie and Lilibet

Meghan Markle showed a wave of emotion during the Nigerian tour, and admitted in a candid four words: “I’m missing my babies.” Prince Harry and Meghan had embarked on a three-day visit to the West African Country, without their children.

And the visit coincided with Mother’s Day in America – in which the Duchess would not have been present for in California. Addressing her audience, she said the pair were missing their children.

She told the crowds: “It feels appropriate that although of course we are missing our children, I’m missing my babies, it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family.”

Prince William takes ‘thoughtful’ present home to Kate at Adelaide Cottage

Prince William has taken home “thoughtful” gifts for the Princess of Wales and their children following an engagement with Armed Forces personnel.

It comes as William and his father King Charles are said to have “snubbed” Prince Harry by attending a royal engagement together – days after the Duke of Sussex attended the UK without meeting his family.

The Prince of Wales completed his first engagement as colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps yesterday, during which he was given presents for his family.

William was given a tartan wrap for Kate, a scarf for himself, and wooden helicopters for children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, reports GB News.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s ‘unofficial royal tour’ shows ‘missed opportunities’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent ‘glitzy’ visit to Nigeria has sparked commentary about what could have been, with a Royal expert pointing out the ‘missed opportunities’ for the couple and the monarchy.

The Sussexes embarked on an unofficial “royal tour” of Africa last week, which was deemed largely a success, despite questions over security, their late arrival and Meghan’s attire.

Harry and Meghan however left a lasting impression during their three-day stay, receiving a warm reception at every turn.

Speaking on Lorraine this Monday, Russell Myers, Royal Editor for the Mirror, reflected on the significance of the trip, suggesting it underscored the potential benefits lost due to Harry and Meghan’s departure from Royal duties.

The surprise royal vying for ‘most popular’ as Princess Kate crowned again

The Princess of Wales was once again crowned the most popular member of the Royal Family, but there was another member of the Firm slowly climbing up the favourability ladder, a new poll has revealed.

Princess Kate continued to be the most admired royal among Britons this month, as 74 percent said they hold a positive view of her, with her husband Prince William coming a close second at 73 percent, according to the latest poll by YouGov.

King Charles came fourth, with a favourability score of 64 percent, surpassed by his older sister, Princess Anne, who snatched a 70 percent.

But it was the tracker’s latest addition that held quite a significance as Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, was included in YouGov’s favourability tracker for the first time.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell charity was sent a brutal letter from California’s top lawyer.

In the letter, California attorney general Rob Bonta branded the organisation “deliquent”, ordering an immediate stop to its fundraising activities.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s philanthropic venture fell into hot water after failing to keep up with registration fees since early May, the scathing letter revealed.

The official correspondence categorises Archewell as “delinquent” within the registry of charitable entities, citing its non-compliance in submitting the required annual report and associated fees.

This status effectively strips the charity of its good standing and bars it from performing any registered functions, including the solicitation or management of charitable contributions.

The attorney general’s notice underscores the consequences of such delinquency, stating: “An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.

“The organization may also be subject to penalties, and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”

In response to this debacle, Archewell must now provide a satisfactory explanation for the delayed payment and settle any incurred late charges.

Despite reports indicating that the foundation has sought an extension, the latest updates from California’s official registry still list Archewell as delinquent, reports the Mirror US.

After stepping back from Royal duties, Harry and Meghan set up their foundation in the US in March 2020, which includes their non-profit work as well as profit-making media ventures such as Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.

The notice of delinquency arrives on the heels of reports that Archewell Foundation’s revenue plummeted by a staggering $10.4million in just one year.

An insider informed the Express that Archewell officials had indeed submitted all required documents on time, along with a cheque.

The source revealed: “For whatever reason, it has not been cashed. As soon as the foundation learnt of the problem, they immediately issued another cheque. Harry and Meghan’s team hope this will quickly resolve the issue within the next week.”

Despite Harry receiving a warm welcome in the UK when he visited last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, Piers has torn into King Charles’ youngest son.

“They can do what they like, but I don’t like them doing it as an unofficial renegade royal family,” he told Billy Bush on Extra’s.

“The truth is, the real royal family right now, back here in England, are going through an awful lot of turmoil of all these senior members of the royal family, either dying literally or facing very serious health crisis.

“You have the Duke and Duchess of Montecito running around like a rival royal family trashing their family, trashing the monarchy, but wanting to exploit their royal titles. I think it stinks.”

Piers, who has never been one to give a measured response on the Sussexes, called for Charles to “strip them of their titles”.

Harry and Meghan have just finished their 72-hour trip to Nigeria, which was dubbed an “unofficial royal tour,” and believed to have upset many of the royal family.

“The King and Prince William are firmly of the belief that you are either in or out of the working Royals,” former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!.

“This (trip) seems to be a rather strange halfway house. I think both the King and the Prince, and indeed the Government will want it to be made clear that Harry is not representing either the Royal Family or Britain on this trip.”

Prince Harry’s royal rift reaches ‘point of no return’ as reconciliation claims torn apart

Prince Harry’s latest move shows his rift with the Royal Family has reached a ‘point of no return’ says King Charles’s former butler,

Now Grant Harrold, who worked for the monarch between 2004-2011, described the latest move as “odd” and claimed it showed the relationship between father and son is “so badly damaged”.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, the former royal butler said: “I don’t know why they didn’t meet. To me, it seemed odd because obviously, you would have thought that when a family member is in a country, you would make sure you’ve made a point of going to make appointments with them.

“The fact the King said he was extremely busy and yes, he was, he had a garden party in the afternoon, and it’s possible that maybe his calendar was very full.

“Sadly, I think it’s a sign of how much things have deteriorated and shows you the relationship between them has obviously decreased further, and again, the same with Prince William.”

Mr Grant stated the current turn of events suggests that it “isn’t an option at the moment” for the royal rift to be repaired and raised concerns of the overall rift being “beyond the point of no return”.

He said: “Even now I’m beginning to think maybe there will not be a return point from this because the relationship has been so badly damaged.

How Well Do Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie Get Along? The Answer Might Surprise You

Is Meghan Markle Friends With Princess Eugenie?

Meghan Markle officially joined the royal family in May, and in the months since, she’s made her mark with her first royal tour alongside Prince Harry and her first solo project. But the latest headlines have been more about how she fits in with the rest of the royals. It was previously reported that she gets along well with most members of the family — yes, even Kate Middleton! — but in recent months, there have been rumours of drama. We’ll most likely never know what’s really going on between the Duchess of Sussex and her in-laws, and that goes for her relationship with Princess Eugenie, too. But don’t assume there’s anything but friendship there.

Given the close bond between Eugenie and her cousin Harry specifically, it’s easy to imagine that Meghan would be buddies with Eugenie as well. And reports support this: she was one of the first in the royal family to meet Meghan and apparently told others that she thought Meghan and Harry “were the perfect match.”

The couples got along so well that Eugenie and her now-husband, Jack Brooksbank, even travelled to Canada (while Meghan was living there filming Suits) to attend a Halloween party at a Toronto nightclub with Meghan and Harry in 2016, well before Harry publicly confirmed their relationship. In the time since, the pairs have reportedly gone on even more double dates in London.

    Related:

Currently, the pairs live near each other in Kensington Palace (though that will change when Harry and Meghan move to Windsor next year) and share many of the same friends. Eugenie’s husband is said to be close with Harry through their mutual friend Guy Pelly. Plus, as a UK ambassador for Casamigos tequila, Jack has a strong relationship with George and Amal Clooney, who attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding and were invited to, but unable to attend, Eugenie and Jack’s.

They’re just two of Eugenie’s many famous friends, which certainly means there’s more overlap with Meghan’s American circle, including designer Misha Nonoo, who is close with both women.

For further proof of their bond, one can look to how Princess Eugenie handled Harry and Meghan’s big announcement at her October nuptials. When Harry and Meghan chose to share their baby news with family at the wedding, there was potential to royally piss off the bride. You know, stealing the spotlight on her wedding day and all.

While the reveal reportedly upset Eugenie’s mom, Sarah Ferguson, there were no substantial reports that Eugenie took issue. In fact, Eugenie “liked” a photo of Meghan on a fan Instagram account days after the public baby announcement, perhaps to dispel even the slight rumblings she may have been upset.

With all the evidence pointing to Meghan and Eugenie’s friendship, it’s interesting that they haven’t been photographed together more, but it could easily be a result of limited opportunities due to their busy schedules. Remember, Meghan’s only been involved with the royals for little more than two years. Hopefully the women have more chances to pair up and strengthen their bond as Meghan becomes more involved in royal responsibilities.

Expert reveals why Meghan Markle will never win over public ‘unlike Camilla’

Royal expert Robert Jobson has suggested Meghan Markle won’t be able to turn around the British public’s perception of her, unlike Queen Camilla.

Doubts have been raised as to whether Meghan Markle can turn around the British public’s perceptions of her by a leading royal expert. Robert Jobson made a comparison between Queen Camilla declining to comment publicly when her own popularity was in the doldrums with Meghan’s worrying about whether she is liked or not.

Mr Jobson told podcast Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered that Camilla in recent months has shown how important it was for King Charles to have a good wife by his side over what must have been a difficult period of time, given the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

He added: “It would have been nice for [Harry] if she (Meghan) had been there. I think she was probably quite wary of, perhaps, the reaction.”

The royal expert was commenting on Meghan’s absence from the UK last week when Prince Harry was in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Mr Jobson expressed some surprise at Meghan not being in Britain, given her usual appearances at events linked to the sports competition for veterans which was founded by her husband, going on to consider the Duchess of Sussex and Queen Camilla.

Fellow royal expert Kinsey Schofield pointed to ongoing public support for Camilla, who she said has been seen as carrying much of the weight in terms of the public-facing aspect of the monarchy during Charles’s recent absence. She added: “Not one complaint. She is just graceful and executes [her royal duties].”

The podcast host asked Mr Jobson if he could see any similarities between Camilla and Meghan, posing the question: “Could Meghan turn her public perception around through her actions and change people’s opinions of her?”

Camilla had been viewed as a threat tot he future of the monarchy thanks to her affair with King Charles, then the Prince of Wales, during his marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Diana blamed Charles and Camilla for the break up of their marriage, but Camilla has gone on to transform her public image over the years.

Mr Jobson replied that the one thing Camilla never did during a period when public perceptions of her were largely negative is the one thing Meghan has done.

He added: “Through all of the bad times she had, [Camilla] never said a word. She never spoke publicly about anything.”

The royal expert said Camilla just got on with it, comparing her to the late Duke of Edinburgh who he said was also a stoic figure.

Mr Jobson said: “That’s what’s likeable about her. She’s a very likeable person. She’s got a great character and she’s not looking for anybody to like her…

“If Meghan spends her life worrying about whether she’s liked or not invariably [she’ll] end up disappointed because some people like you and some people don’t, that’s just the way it is. So can she turn herself around, Meghan in the UK? I doubt it, I doubt it.”

Miss Schofield suggested Meghan not joining Harry for the Invictus Games ceremony in London may have been because she was fearful of how she would be received.

Mr Jobson reminded viewers that last time the Duchess of Sussex attended an event at St Paul’s – to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee – she was booed by some members of the crowd outside the cathedral.

He said: “I don’t think she should have been that concerned about boos. I think it would have just been nice for Harry to have his wife alongside him.”

The royal expert suggested too that if the Sussexes were to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to London, then it would enhance the chances of their meeting the King, who would want to see his grandchildren.

  • Meghan Markle offered ‘$1million per second’ for Suits comeback – but there’s a catch

Meghan Markle offered ‘$1million per second’ for Suits comeback – but there’s a catch

Former Suits star Meghan Markle could earn an eye-watering sum if she teamed up with this brand for a return to her iconic role as Rachel Zane.

Meghan Markle was offered a staggering $1 million (£798k) per second if she reprises her star-making turn as Rachel Zane as Suits.

There is a catch, however, as this is not an official offer from the show’s producers.

Instead, German cosmetics brand Biotulin extended the eye-watering offer to make a cameo in the hit USA Network series.

Their products claim to be able to smooth wrinkles within one hour and are reportedly favoured by the Duchess of Sussex.

Creator of Suits, Aaron Korsh, did not ask Meghan back for the Suits finale in order to “respect her new life”, and it’s unlikely she’ll return for the new spin-off.

However, she could jump at the chance to make $5 million (£3.9m) for just a five-second cameo as Rachel.

Biotulin made the offer in a tweet to NBCUniversal back in 2020, marking the first time Meghan has been publicly offered to return to the hit drama since she left to marry Prince Harry.

“Att. Steve Burke: We are again offering you $5 million for a 5 sec appearance of Meghan Markle with our biological Botox gel BIOTULIN in your TV series ‘Suits’,” the tweet reads.

    “Pls. check our offer with her agent. #biotulin @NBCUnivrsal #Stephenbburker @nbc @nbcnews.”

Biotulin’s offer could come with further caveats as it’s unknown if they’d expect Meghan to promote their brand in addition to the cameo.

She is rumoured to be considering a return to acting however, and this could be the perfect opportunity for her to transition back to screen.

Unfortunately, Meghan’s Hollywood comeback has had a rocky start as she was supposedly rejected by Disney for being a “controversial figure”, according to insider reports from the Daily Mail.

Meghan is currently enjoying a trip across Nigeria with her husband Harry, and described it as “my country” after a DNA test confirmed she is 43 percent Nigerian.

“Never in a million years would I understand it as much as I do now,” she said at an event on women in leadership in Abuja.

“And what has been echoed so much in the past day is, ‘Oh, we are not so surprised when we found out you are Nigerian’.

“It is a compliment to you because what they define as a Nigerian woman is brave, resilient, courageous, beautiful.”

Prince William enjoyed a visit to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly last week – but admitted that his wife and children would be “upset” with one move.

Prince William admits that he “upset” his wife, the Princess of Wales and their three children with one move last week.

The Prince of Wales stepped out for a visit to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly last week, adding that his family were “upset I’m here without them”.

Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis did not join their father on his royal engagement, while Princess Kate continues to undergo cancer treatment.

Hailing the “glorious” weather during the visit, William said: “My family are very upset I’m here without them. The children will kill me if I don’t go home later.”

William, who is also known locally as the Duke of Cornwall, arrived in St Mary’s by boat and couldn’t help but treat himself to a bite to eat from On the Quay cafe.

Assuring the servers that they weren’t “all for me”, William bought five traditional pastries for £5.50 each.

The visit marked William’s first trip since his wife’s cancer diagnosis was revealed back in March.

On March 22, the Princess of Wales shared that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy after post-operative tests revealed an undisclosed form of cancer.

William also took time away from royal duties to care for their young children.

During his two-day tour, William reassured royal fans about his wife’s condition, stating that she is “doing well”.

Upon a visit to St Mary’s Community Hospital on the Isles of Scilly, William added that George, Charlotte and Louis were “very jealous” of his trip, adding that he may bring them to Cornwall later this year.

Tracy Smith – an administrator at St Mary’s who hosted William’s tour of the medical centre said: “I asked William about his wife Kate and he said: ‘She’s doing well, thanks’.

“And I suggested they might like to come for a visit and bring the children.”

Today (Monday, May 13), the Prince of Wales stepped out for a joint engagement with his father, King Charles.

William is now the Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, a role that the King has held for 31 years.

The 41-year-old’s new role is seen as a snub towards his younger brother – as Army Air Corps is Harry’s old regiment that he toured Afghanistan with.

The surprise royal vying for ‘most popular’ as Princess Kate crowned again

Princess Kate has emerged as the most popular royal yet again, according to a recent poll which saw the addition of one key royal.

Overall, Charles’s popularity has remained consistent since the announcement regarding his health back in February.

But it was the tracker’s latest addition that held quite a significance as Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, was included in YouGov’s favourability tracker for the first time.

According to the results, just over half of Britons (54 percent) have a favourable view of Sophie, who came fifth below King Charles – meaning she is surprisingly vying for the top spot despite only being included in the list for the first time.

The Duchess of Edinburgh recently became the first royal family member to visit Ukraine since Russia’s invasion and has become a more active royal since King Charles’ Coronation last year and his subsequent cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

The survey also included sisters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice for the first time.

The children of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are both viewed favourably by 37 percent of people, while a quarter (24-25 percent) hold a negative view of them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain the least popular royal couple.

Of the two, Meghan Markle is viewed slightly less favourably than her husband, with 22 percent holding a positive view of her compared to 29 percent for Harry.

But the majority of the public view both royals unfavourably (65 percent for Meghan and 61 percent for Harry).

Prince Andrew continues to be the least-liked royal, with only six percent holding a positive opinion of him, while nearly nine in 10 (86 percent) view him negatively.
