Meghan Markle is reportedly desperate to diffuse tensions with the Royal Family and is willing to take on one bold act in order to make it happen.

Meghan Markle is said to be desperate to end ongoing tensions with the Royal Family, and is even willing to do one major thing to make this happen.

The Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down from royal duties alongside Prince Harry in 2020, is said to be willing to “re-engage with royal life”, if it means the royal feud can finally come to an end.

According to an insider, Meghan and Harry are both aware that the feud is having a “knock-on” effect on their future prospects and that anything they want to do rests “on their royal connections”.

At present, Harry and Meghan live in California with their two young children – a stark difference from their former life as royals.

The pair were keen on a life of privacy but have since remerged as public figures with Meghan, in particular, reportedly looking to get back into Hollywood.

A source told Closer: “Meghan and Harry are in panic mode and it’s becoming clearer and clearer that their royal currency is dwindling which is having a knock-on effect on their Hollywood careers.

“They both know full-well that their success rests on their royal connections and being snubbed from King Charles’ birthday celebrations was a huge wake-up call that the Royal Family is no longer prepared to put on a façade in a bid to fund their Hollywood lifestyles.”

The source added that while Harry is keen for them to “stand on their own two feet”, Meghan feels as though they are slowly being “phased out”.

Because of this, the source added that Meghan is very keen for a reconciliation between Harry and the royals to take place.

They added: “She says she won’t be seen as two-faced but they will need to make an effort to hold on to their connections. It’s a difficult balance and it’s definitely causing tension.”

This news comes as it was reported that Harry and Meghan were both left off of the King’s 75th birthday guest list last week.

Despite the ongoing feud, it has been reported that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were able to wish their paternal grandfather a happy birthday via a video message.

Harry and Meghan announced their plans to step down as senior working royals at the start of 2020 when, at the time, they were only parents to Prince Archie.

The couple welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, in June 2021.

Prince William makes huge change as royals ‘tired’ of Harry drama

Prince William has reportedly stepped back out there with a ‘business as usual’ approach on a recent visit, following allegations published in Omid Scobie’s new book.

Prince William has made a huge change regarding his body language as he and the rest of the Royal Family grow weary of the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama.

The Prince of Wales appeared happy and “comfortable” on a recent royal engagement in Manchester, in spite of controversial claims made in Omid Scobie’s new biography Endgame, which was published in serial form last week.

Body language analyst Judi James told the Mirror: “If his body language signals here contain any responses to the latest attempts to skewer the royals via some barbed quotes in the Scobie book it’s more like a hint of mild exasperation than any appearance of being genuinely rattled.

“All the Firm should be tired of this game by now but although every missile is missing its mark the overall effect must be wearying.

“Despite this though or perhaps because of it, William looks even more determined than usual to throw himself into his causes and to immerse himself with the people he meets.”

Princess Kate got away with wearing a knee-length dress and Meghan’s fans are not happy

When it comers to royal rules, no cleavage should be shown, and the hem of a skirt should be close to the top of the knee, according to Vogue magazine.

Princess Kate wore a red dress and red cape for a state visit. Her attire was deemed captivating by onlookers and the press. The look was dubbed “one of her best cape coats yet” by Vogue.

But Meghan Markle fans claimed when the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle wore a similar look she was criticised. They noted Kate’s hemline fell above the knee, something they claimed Meghan was reprimanded for by onlookers in the past.

King Charles and Queen Camilla thank four Korean War veterans for their service

Richard Palmer, Daily Express Royal Correspondent:

At the end of the three-day visit by President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee, Charles and Camilla marked the 70th anniversary year of the end of the war between China and Soviet-backed North Korea and UN-supported South Korea.

They met the four Chelsea Pensioners, all in their nineties, in the Marble Corridor at Buckingham Palace shortly after the departure of the President and First Lady, who thanked them at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday for helping to save the country from a Communist takeover.

Peter Fullelove, 90, a veteran of the Black Watch regiment, made the King laugh by discussing his problems as a parachutist finding a clearing in the jungle during operations in another country, Malaya. The monarch had spotted his parachute wings on his red uniform.
“They dropped me in Malaya but the only problem was the bloody trees, you see,” he said. “It brought a smile to his face anyway.”

Prince Louis could miss out on huge event for third time but George and Charlotte can go

Prince Louis is once again set to miss out on the annual royal festive concert at Westminster Abbey, even though his older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte can go.

Princess Kate’s carol concert has become something of a tradition, having begun just a few years ago.

Speaking to the BBC about the relationship between the three royal children and their parents, royal expert Jennie Bond said: “William and Catherine undoubtedly have the same battles so many parents endure, about screen time and sibling squabbles.

“But the children seem to generally get along pretty well, with sporty Charlotte singing and dancing, and being quite cheeky, and Louis a bundle of mischief, probably getting away with a heck of a lot more because he’s the youngest.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry issued ‘rude awakening’ on royal life in the US

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not as popular in the US as they would like to believe, as political commentator Lauren Chen said there was “no appetite” for them.

She added that Meghan had been “wrong” to assume that marrying into the Royal Family would make her more popular.

Ms Chen told GB News: “The docuseries was universally panned from what I saw. There is just no appetite for what Harry and Meghan are trying to sell anymore.”

Prince Harry and Meghan ‘tarnished’ Archie and Lilibet returning as working royals

An expert has claimed that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could get involved with the Royal Family in the future, but they will be a disadvantage.

Due to them growing up in California, they “wouldn’t know where to start”, according to Kara Kennedy.

She explained: “They are sixth and seventh in line to the throne and you’ll remember that Harry and Meghan fought hard for their children’s titles to remain, even though to the public, it went against everything that the Sussexes had previously argued.”

Prince Harry and King Charles may be starting to re-establish contact, but some members of the Firm are concerned that the Duke could once again use them for money.

Former royal butler Paul Burrell said on behalf of Slingo: “I think there is a very bad feeling in the Royal Family about Harry and Meghan that if they let them back into the royal fold they will be betrayed again.

“They see it as airing dirty laundry in public and telling tales in public when they know all too well that they shouldn’t do that.”

Princess Anne’s cutting remark shows how she really feels about Prince Harry and Meghan

Speaking to CBC earlier this year Princess Anne gave a hint as to how she feels about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Their departure from the Royal Family has had a negative impact on King Charles’s plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.

Anne said of her brother’s plans: “Well, I think the ‘slimmed-down’ (monarchy) was said in a day when there were a few more people around to make that seem like a justifiable comment.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘more engaging’ than ‘restrained’ William and Kate

According to a new study from GetInsta, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are more “keen to engage with their audience” than the “conservative” Prince William and Princess Kate.

A spokesperson stated: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shown that they’re keen to engage with their audience online, having released a documentary to connect directly with the public and help shape their narrative.

“It’s no surprise that they are more engaging online than their more restrained and conservative peers, Prince William and Kate Middleton.”

Body language expert analyses Prince William’s behaviour on royal engagement

Judi James commented on Prince William’s body language on his trip to Manchester, explaining: “”His skills of projecting humility seem enhanced. For a tall man, he manages to bend or stoop enough to lower his signals of power and status and integrate easily with different groups.

“He is also looking more comfortable in his own skin recently. His body language in the past has often looked slightly shy and awkward but coming out of the other side of the battles with his brother, he seems more mature and confident enough to look comfortable and at ease.”

In Endgame Mr Scobie alleged that Harry and Meghan were not told about Queen Elizabeth’s condition on the day of her death until the last minute, with Harry then reportedly hearing she had passed away while still on board a plane bound for Aberdeen.

  • Princess Kate’s portrait artist breaks silence after brutal public response

Princess Kate’s portrait artist breaks silence after brutal public response

Artist Hannah Uzor’s portrait of Princess Kate faced backlash from critics due to its apparent lack of resemblance to the royal.

Hannah Uzor has spoken out after her portait of Princess Kate, which will feature on the cover of the next Tatler magazine, was branded “dreadful” and “jaw-hits-the-floor bad”.

The British-Zambian artist’s unofficial painting of the Princess was unveiled earlier this week and sparked an immediate backlash from critics and the public.

It captures Kate at the first state banquet of King Charles’s reign in 2022, which was held in honour of the South African President’s visit, and for which Kate wore a floor-length white caped Jenny Packham gown and her Lover’s Knot tiara.

Royal fans questioned how much it resembled the Princess, with one commenting online: “Lol! Look absolutely nothing like her, though!” and another saying: “What a terrible terrible portrait of the Princess of Wales!!! Who allowed that to be on the front cover??? Even published by Tatler!!!”

But Ms Uzor seemed unfazed as she told the Daily Mail she was not aware of any negative response from the public, adding: “It is a fantastic story – and they [critics] can do what they want.”

The potrait is an unofficial one, meaning it was not commissioned by the Royal Family and Kate did not sit for it, with Ms Uzor instead researching more than 189,000 pictures of her to create the work.

The green-blue background is a nod to Kate’s eye colour as well as a reference to being outside and on water, supposedly to reflect the royal’s love of rowing.

When speaking to Tatler the artist was asked whether Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis had given her a new perspective on painting her, to which she responded: “Without a doubt.”

Ms Uzor explained: “All my portraits are made up of layers of a personality, constructed from everything I can find about them.”

The artist said that Kate’s diagnosis video, released on March 22, showed “a moment of dealing with something difficult, speaking from the heart, having the courage to tackle it head-on”.

Her admiration for the Princess was clear, as she told the publication: “She has really risen up to her role – she was born for this. She carries herself with such dignity, elegance and grace.

“I sense with her the joy of motherhood.”

Kate has been away from royal duties since the start of the year and is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy, with the news coming less than two months after the King’s own cancer was revealed.

He has begun to make a return to public life although his treatment is still ongoing, with Queen Camilla saying he is “thrilled” to be back at work.

Speaking at a reception at Buckingham Palace the Queen added she has been “trying to hold him back”, although recent news of the general election means that certain royal engagements will have to be postponed.

Prince Harry is a champion of mental health awareness, but the Duke’s own psychological well-being was reportedly “pushed to the max” when choosing Meghan Markle over his own royal family.

“Harry’s mental health has suffered as a result of the break with his family, but Meghan never doubts her decision to stop being a full-time working royal,” royal author Tom Quinn told an outlet.

SOURCE: THE ROYAL FAMILY CHANNEL/YOUTUBEPrince Harry and Meghan Markle visit a school in Nigeria, May 10, 2024.

Quinn’s insights follow Harry’s recent speech about the topic where he spoke candidly about “grief and sadness” next to a silent Duchess of Sussex during a discussion at a school in Abuja, Nigeria, on May 10. This came after the fifth in line to the throne’s “snub” from his father, King Charles III, who couldn’t meet with his youngest son in London on May 8, due to commitments.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were both in the African nation at the invite of the government. The Montecito prince chatted with gathered students by highlighting how mental health is still “something we are relatively unsure of” scientifically, but is universal.

“In some places around the world, more than you would believe, there is a stigma against mental health,” he said. “Too many people don’t want to talk about it because it’s invisible, it’s in your mind and we can’t see it. But guess what, every single person in this room, the youngest, the oldest, every single person has mental health. So therefore, you have to look after yourself in order to be able to help other people, other people have to look after themselves in order to be able to look after you. That’s the way it works.”

The Duke, who admitted to having “no emotion” in the years following Diana, Princess of Wales’ sudden 1997 death, further shared with students: “There is no shame to be able to acknowledge that today is a bad day. OK? If you woke up this morning feeling sad, if you left school feeling stressed, if you’ve lost a loved one in your family who you usually turn to or speak to, all of these things you may be led to believe are not for conversation. We are here today to tell you that that is not the case.”

Prince Harry reportedly turned down King Charles’ invitation to stay at a royal residence, and royal experts think the rumored decision is indicative of the Duke of Sussex’s stance with his father.

“He could have stayed at St James’ Palace, a stone’s throw away from Clarence House, where the King is usually based,” Helena Chard told an outlet. “Harry turned down staying in a palace, where he would have received armed security protection from the SO14 Royalty Protection Group. He chose to stay at a hotel in Mayfair without this protection.”

“Not only would he have received armed security protection, there is a far higher chance that he would have seen his father,” she noted.

Harry’s decision to stay at a hotel in London could mean they might not be able to work through their issues going forward.

“It worries me that Prince Harry has deeper-rooted problems, most likely related to his mother, as I feel his behavior is beyond strange,” Chard added. “I am, however, aware that his behavior keeps the victim narrative alive, a narrative which maybe he feels serves a purpose at this time.”

Before he landed back home, a rep for Harry confirmed he wouldn’t reunite with Charles.

“In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the Duke will meet with his father while in the U.K. this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” the spokesperson said. “The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Despite the ongoing claims about Harry preferring not to stay on royal grounds, biographer Christopher Andersen pointed out that the accusation has yet to be confirmed.

“There is no evidence that the king offered to put Harry up at Windsor, much less that Harry ‘turned down’ an invitation to meet his father,” Andersen stated.

“Yes, Harry is still battling for royal protection when he is traveling in the U.K., but that hardly means he doesn’t want to check in on his cancer-stricken father,” he explained. “Harry would have jumped at the chance, royal protection or no, to meet with the king, even if only for another ridiculously short 45-minute session.”

“That seems to be all that the king has ever been willing to set aside for Harry under the best of circumstances,” the author added.

American royal commentator Kinsey Schofield pointed out that Harry’s announcement about seeing Charles garnered a significant amount of attention.

“If it is true that Prince Harry turned down a meeting with his father but went to great lengths to publicly blame his father’s schedule for the missed opportunity, then Prince Harry appears dishonest and mean-spirited,” Schofield stated.

“He knows that type of statement would reflect poorly on his cancer-stricken father. It generated so many headlines and hours-long commentary about the moral compass of his family,” she noted. “It is an example of either Harry and Meghan not thinking about the consequences or the Sussexes continuing to try to hurt the royal family’s brand.”

This is said to be a result of the Sussexes’ charity failing to submit records – and pay a bill.

But, the couple have penned a message on their Sussex website, seemingly ignoring the claims.

The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organizers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips

    Sussex Website

They issued a statement thanking the Nigerian people for welcoming them on their recent visit.

It read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex concluded their unforgettable trip to Nigeria with a cultural reception in Lagos and a polo match fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.”

Their statement touched on a pre-game parade and a “vibrant display of young enthusiasts in polo gear”.

They hailed the jubilant day “filled with sport and spirit”.

“The friendly rivalry between the teams, aptly named Duke vs Duchess, added a layer of excitement to the event, with the Duchess’s team claiming victory with a score of 5-3,” the statement continued.

“The day was capped off with the couple presenting medals, a gesture of appreciation for the players’ prolific talent and dedication.”

The couple’s message concluded with an extension of their “deepest gratitude” to the welcoming Nigerian community for their “tremendous hospitality”.

    CHARITY DELINQUENCY NOTICE

It comes as the Telegraph reported their Archewell charity had been slapped with a delinquency notice and banned from raising or spending money until it pays the fees.

It’s alleged the charity did not file its 2022 tax return or related costs on time.

An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds

    Delinquency Notice

However, the Telegraph reported the documents were filed and the cheque sent, but it never arrived.

The Sussexes’ team was apparently not aware the cheque had been lost until it received the notice, dated May 3.

The notice to Archewell Foundation states: “The above captioned entity is listed as delinquent with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for failing to submit required annual report(s) and/or renewal fees.

“An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.”

    What does ‘delinquency’ mean?

IN business terms, delinquency refers to the state of being past due on a debt.

Delinquency happens when a borrower misses a payment on a loan, which can affect their credit score.
Delinquency rates are used to show how many accounts in a financial institution’s portfolio are delinquent.
When a charitable organisation fails to submit complete filings for each fiscal year, its status on the Attorney General’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers will be listed as Delinquent.
If the delinquency is not remedied, the Registry status will be further changed to Suspended, and/or Revoked.
A charity that is not in good standing with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers may not operate or take donations.

Archewell was urged to quickly sent all the necessary forms and fees “immediately” and was said to have done so – sending through a second cheque.

The notice, from California’s Department of Justice, read: “The organisation may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.

“Once you submit the delinquent record(s), you will be notified of the amount of any late fees that are owed.”

    NIGERIA TRIP

The couple have been in Nigeria, where they unveiled a partnership between Archewell and non-profit Giants of Africa, which aims to empower young people through sport.

Harry was also on a three-day tour of the African nation to promote his Invictus Games for wounded veterans.

PRINCE Harry was cock-a-hoop to continue his African tour — as he turned his hand to basketball.

He and wife Meghan were unveiling a partnership between their Archewell Foundation and the non-profit Giants of Africa, which aims to empower young people through sport.

The Sussexes watched a practice session at Ilupeju Senior Grammar School in Lagos, Nigeria, before Harry, 39, joined in.

He said: “The power of sport can change lives.

“It brings people together and creates community and there are no barriers, which is the most important thing.”

Meghan, 42, later swapped a Carolina Herrera button-down shirt, and a traditional Nigerian skirt gifted to her, for a favourite £3,000 yellow gown by the same designer.

She and Harry walked hand-in-hand as they arrived at State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s house, where they were guests of honour.

Meanwhile it emerged that on his three-day visit to Britain last week, Harry stayed in the hotel where he had spent the night before his 2018 wedding.

Back then Prince William stayed too, but the brothers are now hardly speaking.

The King was said to be too busy to see Harry on his trip.

But The Sunday Times reported that Charles did agree to put him up in a royal home.

However, instead Harry opted for the £600-a-night Coworth Park Hotel, near Ascot, Berks.

The five-star hotel is owned by The Sultan of Brunei and sits on the edge of Windsor Great Park — a 15-minute drive from Windsor Castle.

He arrived with Meghan in the capital Abuja on Friday, when they attended a school event highlighting mental health.

The prince also met wounded Nigerian soldiers in the north-west of the country.

    ARCHEWELL LOSSES

Despite the new a partnership between Archewell and non-profit Giants of Africa, the Sussexes charity last year reported taking a massive hit.

In December Archwell was said to have suffered a whopping  £8.7million drop in donations compared to the previous year.

The detailed return showed that 2022 donations had dipped to just over £1.6m, compared to the £10.3m it was gifted in 2021.

It was revealed two major anonymous donors contributed £795,210 ($1million) each.

Harry and Meghan’s Foundation also recorded a loss of £536,357 ($674,485) due to the shortfall in donations as revenue was recorded at $2million while costs were $2.67million.

    CHARLES SNUB

Harry and Meghan have put on a united front amid reports about their charity – and beamed alongside each other in Nigeria.

The duke appeared to put his family drama to one side as he posed for snaps on the visit.

It comes as King Charles made Prince William Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps yesterday.

His Majesty, 75, and Wills, 41, shared a touching moment in front of an Apache helicopter – as the prince was officially made leader of Harry’s former chopper unit.

I think the perception for the public is going to be that it was deliberately timed to antagonise Harry

    Jack RoystonRoyal Correspondent

The monarch looked in top nick as he chatted with staff and veterans at the Army Aviation Centre..

He beamed as he waved to royal fans and laughed with his eldest son.

William later took to the sky in the Apache, the same chopper Harry used to fly.

Royal Correspondent Jack Royston spoke to The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show about Charles’ recent snub towards his youngest son.

He told The Sun’s Royal Editor, Matt Wilkinson: “I think the perception for the public is going to be that it was deliberately timed to antagonise Harry.

“Even if that’s not the case, they probably should have tried to move it.

“But they can, let’s assume for arguments sake it was all just coincidence, they can diffuse this whole situation.

“All Charles would have to do, it could be as simple as making an off the cut remark, all he would have to say is ‘oh yes my son was co-pilot gunner on one of these in Afghanistan. He served his country.’”

Royal expert Gareth Russell compared Prince Harry to Edward VIII

And historian Gareth Russell reckons Harry, who left The Firm for California in January 2020 with American wife Meghan Markle, is showing similar signs.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show with Matt Wilkinson, Gareth drew comparisons between Edward VIII and Harry’s visit to King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

He said: “I would compare Prince Harry to Edward VIII.

“Edward VIII would come back sometimes for major events like his brother’s death in 1952 and other times for shorter visits.

“His estranged sister-in-law who became the Queen mother said you had to be careful where you hosted him.

“They would pick places where the royals had an ‘out’ that they could leave at a certain point.

“Otherwise the Queen mother’s concern was that Edward VIII would hang around like a bad smell and inevitably ask for an increase in his allowance.”

Gareth also said Meghan was compared to Wallis by a senior royal because she hates her sister-in-law and wants to be a star.

Prince Philip allegedly drew comparisons between the Duchess of Sussex and the American socialite wife of King Edward VIII.

Philip is said to have nicknamed Meghan “D.O.W” in a nod to Wallis’ Duchess of Windsor title after she wed Edward in 1937.

Their relationship ultimately led to Edward’s abdication a year earlier, plunging the Royal Family into chaos.

He described how Wallis “loathed her sister-in-law” and “wanted to be the star of the monarchy”.

The author added: “Allegedly Prince Philip made the comparison [with Meghan] and he had met Wallace.

“One of the things that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor Edward and Wallis did in the 1930s, 40s and 50s is these very controversial quasi-Royal tours, not royal tours.

“They were wined and dined, did a couple of things in America like the Sussexes, they did have tours that aren’t tours that rubbed the Royal Family up the wrong way.

“I think Wallis Simpson has two kinds of personalities depending on which author you’re listening to and in many ways they are the same as we ascribe to Meghan.

“Wallis is either presented as someone who was ambitious, loathed her sister-in-law, wanted to be the star player in the monarchy, was very, very difficult to work for and essentially moved Edward away from being a working member of the royal family.”

    Why did Edward VIII abdicate?

AMERICAN divorcee Wallis Simpson will forever be known as the woman who rocked the Royal Family and plunged the monarchy into crisis when Prince Edward married her in 1937.

Their relationship allegedly started in 1934, but Edward – then a prince – denied this to his dad King George V.

On January 20, 1936, George V died and Edward ascended the throne.

Fears were beginning to grow that the new king planned to marry Wallis – something the Church of England condemned on the grounds that she was a divorced woman with two living ex-husbands.

Brits were also reluctant to accept an American as a queen – prompting Wallis to flee to France to avoid the heavy press coverage.

Edward was told he could not keep the throne and marry Wallis and sent shockwaves across the world when in December 1936 he decided to abdicate the throne.

As a result, his stammering younger brother “Bertie”, the current Queen’s father, became George VI.

In his announcement, Edward made a BBC broadcast saying he could not do the job of the king “without the help and support of the woman I love”.

Gareth also says he believes “an alternative royal family is emerging”.

He said: “To all intents and purposes that is a real possibility.

“The problem for the Sussexes is that once you start doing anything like that, people become a lot more critical of what you do outside that – like commercial endeavours or quasi-royal tours.

“People will put them under more of a microscope because they’re calling it ‘The Office of Harry and Meghan’.

“It’s interesting. I wonder is it part of a plan to pivot from some harsh headlines they’ve had in the last year or two?

“Is it maybe a slightly more social conservative direction and have themselves as royals in exile for want of a better word?

“I wonder is that them acting on advice that people don’t want to hear them criticising the royal family.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on January 8, 2020, they would be stepping down as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family.

On January 18 it was announced that Harry and Meghan would “no longer be working members of Britain’s Royal Family”, and would not use their “Royal Highness” titles.

A Palace spokeswoman said the couple would no longer receive public money and that they would repay the £2.4million cost of refurbishing their cottage — Frogmore — in Windsor, Berks.

The following day, Harry said in a heartfelt speech: “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.”

The Duke of Sussex said he had found the “love and happiness I had hoped for all my life” with Meghan.

PRINCE William will be “hugely successful” as the future king if he channels the strengths of both his parents – King Charles and the late Princess Diana – claims an expert.

Royal historian and author Gareth Russell says the Prince of Wales has “very different influences” which will make him “exciting” as a monarch.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Gareth said it’s wrong for people to shoehorn “William as being Charles’s son” and “Harry as Diana’s son”.

The historian explained: “We sort of forget they have similarities to the other parent.

“William was immensely close to his mother and Diana was someone who was more of a radical royal compared to Elizabeth II.

“So he has these two very different influences and that I think makes them exciting as a future king.”

Gareth claims that Prince William will be “successful” if he embodies qualities from a number of Royal Family members.

He explained to The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson: “If he welds those two legacies – the willingness to change that Diana had and the enthusiasm for tradition Elizabeth II had – he could prove, I think, hugely successful as King William the fifth.”

This year has seen Prince William leading Royal Family duties, following King Charles and Kate Middleton being diagnosed with cancer.

William had temporarily cleared his diary to care for his wife Kate and their three children after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

The Times reported that William wanted to “reassure the public” by stepping in.

All other working members of the Royal Family are understood to be continuing with public engagements in the King’s absence.

The Sun understands Charles and William have become incredibly close in recent months.

The King has been regularly staying at Windsor Castle on Sunday nights to spend time with his eldest son and heir to the throne.

Everything you need to know about Princess Diana’s final years

After years of separation, Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced in 1996.

In 1997, Princess Diana spent her summer in the south of France and Italy. During August, she visited Sarajevo, Bosnia, to highlight the fight against landmines.

By the end of the month, the Princess of Wales and Dodi Al-Fayed travelled to Paris together.

It was revealed that Princess Diana stayed longer than planned in Paris due to a row over her land mine campaign.

Travelling in a black Mercedes Benz, Princess Diana was involved in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel on August 31, 1997.

The Princess of Wales died at the age of 36.

Her funeral was held on September 6, 1997. As her coffin made the journey from Kensington Palace to Westminister Abbey, Prince William and Prince Harry walked behind their late mother.

Princess Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd, and sisters, Jane Fellowes and Sarah McCorquodale, also attended the funeral.

The Princess of Wales was buried at her childhood home – Althorp House

If it wasn’t for her tragic death, Princess Diana would have been 62 today.

“That legacy is something that both Catherine and I have sought to focus on through our work, as have the 50,000 young people who have received a Diana Award over the past 25 years.

“I am so proud to see this belief of my mother’s manifested in the amazing young people receiving the Legacy Award tonight.”

Millions of hearts broke worldwide as the news of Princess Diana’s death was announced in 1997, with the late royal being dubbed the “People’s Princess.”

Real reason Prince Harry ‘turned down a meeting with King Charles’ during whistle-stop London visit revealed

THE “REAL reason” Prince Harry allegedly turned down an invite from King Charles to stay at a royal residence can be revealed.

The 39-year-old spent three nights in London on a whistle-stop tour to promote the Invictus Games this month but didn’t see the King.

Harry was said to have made several requests for a meeting and blamed the King’s “full programme” when it didn’t happen.

But Charles did agree to put Harry up at a secret royal residence knowing he does not have a UK base, according to The Telegraph.

And Harry said no because it would leave him staying in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”, it has been claimed.

Harry ended up staying in a hotel, which he could leave unnoticed.

This is despite any royal residence having armed guards at entry and exit points, which any London hotel wouldn’t have.

It’s not been reported where exactly Prince Harry was offered a room, but it is thought St James’ Palace is a strong contender.

It’s directly opposite Clarence house where the King stays when he’s in London.

Prince Harry claimed the King was “too busy” to meet.

A spokesman said: “It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Since then it’s been revealed the King did have a packed programme that week, but had made changes that would let him see his son.

The Duke arrived in London on May 7 for a three-day promotional tour of the Invictus Games, which is celebrating its ten year anniversary.

On May 8 Harry spoke at an event in St Paul’s Cathedral where he gave a Bible reading from Corinthians that stressed different people have different gifts and strengths.

As Harry’s event got underway, The King met members of the public at a Buckingham Palace garden party just over two miles away.

The prince was also the surprise guest at a party hosted by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports the bereaved kids of military personnel.

Harry has been in legal battles with the Home Office over security during visits to the UK.

The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon

    Archewell Spokesman
The prince has only been allowed police protection when taking part in royal events, according to the Telegraph.

Such instances include the late Queen’s funeral or when he was taken to meet the King from Heathrow in February following Charles’ shock cancer diagnosis.

When travelling to and from his hotel in February, the prince only had his own, private bodyguards, the Telegraph alleges.

He now has to give the Metropolitan Police 28 days’ notice if he wants to come to the UK with security provisions.

Each request is dealt with on an individual basis by Ravec, the committee overseeing the protection of royalty and public figures.

Harry’s whistle-stop February visit took just 26 hours while he spent just 20 hours in London for the King’s Coronation last May.

The Duke spent between 30 and 40 minutes with Charles at Clarence House before the Monarch departed for Sandringham via helicopter.

Harry and Meghan have been without a UK home since the The Sun revealed they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.

    Archewell was approached for comment.

Harry & the King can’t play happy families with such huge public attention, says The Sun’s Matt Wilkinson

    By Matt Wilkinson, Royal Editor

Prince Harry is in London but he won’t meet his father The King.

The Duke of Sussex arrived from LA alone without Meghan or their children for a busy diary of events marking 10 years of his Invictus Games.

Before setting off from California it is understood Harry was said to have been “keen’ to see the King for only the second time since his cancer diagnosis.

It is rather telling that confirmation there will be no meeting has come from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rather than Buckingham Palace.

His team say “it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program”.

They add: “The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Now, the word that jumps out is “priorities”.

The King, we understand, is busy as he returns to public duty.

For instance, on Tuesday while Harry was in London the King was carrying out his constitutional duty and meeting the Prime Minister of Fiji at the palace.

He is also set to host a palace garden party and weekly audience with the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

And Harry’s diary is packed full for three days with Invictus. However, they will be at times just two miles apart and risk even driving past each other on London’s roads.

Some observers may see this as “sad” that father and son cannot find time.

Others may say that it’s understandable as both have work commitments and “priorities”.

But maybe there has just been too much water under the bridge for father and son to play happy families amid such huge public attention

A timeline of Prince Harry and William’s ‘feud’: Brothers ‘at war’

In 2018, The Sun told how “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

The first hints of friction reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she’d returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a brother-to-brother chat.

He knew Harry was already head-over-heels for her but it has been claimed he advised him to take it slowly.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the advice, with one royal source saying he “went mental”.

Then in June 2019 Harry and Meghan officially split off from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be divided between the Sussexes and Cambridges as the couples focus on their own separate charitable endeavours.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009 before Kate joined two years later shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio would often appear together at events and the Foundation had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the mental health Heads Together campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made following the conclusion of a review into its structure – but added both couples will continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg were living in close proximity to Kate and Wills within the Kensington Palace estate, but they switched to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further increased rumours of a fallout.

Harry, 39, also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

It came after Prince Philip called Meghan the “D.O.W” after the Duchess of Windsor — the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.

And he warned the late Queen to be “cautious” of Harry’s then bride-to-be, a royal author claims.

Ingrid Seward revealed in new book My Mother And I that Prince Philip felt it was “uncanny…how much Meghan reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor”.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.

Harry then jetted back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.

In 2022, just before their grandmother the Queen died, sources claimed Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.

Last year Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan.

In his book Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.

Harry alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew in to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the following day – without seeing Wills.

Queen Camilla is said to be “stressed” about King Charles’s workload as he continues cancer treatment.

The King has returned to royal duties in recent weeks after a successful start to his treatment but according to royal expert Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, Camilla thinks he is doing too much.

Charles returned to his usual work on April 30 and last week hosted a garden party for 7,000 people at Buckingham Palace.

On Monday he visited an army base for an emotional joint engagement with his son, Prince William, where he handed over a key military role to him.

Speaking on GB News, Mr Heydel-Mankoo said: “The Queen has said that if he behaved better, he’d be improving far more rapidly.

“I think she might be a bit stressed at the number of activities he’s done I mean, just in the last week he went to Middle Wallop in Hampshire to an air base to hand over to Prince William, the colonel in chief of the Army Air Corps.

“He has hosted a garden party for 4000 people from the creative industries.

“He’s attended a service at Saint Paul’s Cathedral for the order of the British Empire, and he made a surprise visit to the Royal Opera House on Thursday, where he seemed to be in very good spirits too.

“So I think we should all take some good heart from His Majesty. This is clear progress.”

Buckingham Palace has already confirmed that “forthcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary” to accommodate the King’s recovery following his cancer treatment.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 5 and 6.

Mr Heydel-Mankoo also revealed that it is “unlikely” that Princess Kate will attend the event as she recovers from her own cancer diagnosis.

He said: “Last year she was there, resplendent in a green dress and we’re waiting to see whether she will also be attending this time or not.

“But there’s been no mention of her attending the D-Day ceremonies, although the Prince of Wales will be attending the Canadian beach Juno, and also at the Omaha Beach, where the international heads of state, but no word of the Princess of Wales attending that.”
