Loose Women star leaves panel gobsmacked over candid sex confession

ITV’s Loose Women took an unexpexted turn during the latest episode as Mariella Frostrup made a hilarious confession which caught her co-stars and viewers off guard

Loose Women star Mariella Frostrup left her co-stars red-faced and the studio audience in shock as she made a candid confession on the hit ITV show.

Mariella was back on the panel alongside Nadia Sawalha, Myleene Klass and Judi Love discussing a variety of matters. But when the ladies shared their thoughts on one-night stands and whether women are still stigmatised, the Loose Women let things slip.

Talking about her previous sexual escapades, Mariella revealed that she may have used sex as a void to fill the hurt from losing her father at a young age. But what she said next made viewers gasp.

She said: “My dad died very young, I think I said that before when I was 15. And I spent a few misspent years thinking that was a good way of getting a kind of central male role- back into my body.”

Stumbling on her words, the audience roared with laughter. Stepping in and quickly correcting her, Nadia added: “Missing the affection,” to which Mariella agreed. Expanding further, Mariella spoke about how one-night stands are perceived.

She said: “I was trying to replace how you get affection back. But I think the thing that has changed enormously and I’m really happy about it, is that then it was a shameful thing. For a girl, it was a shameful thing to have a one-night stand. For a guy, it was a score.

“And I think that was very much the situation and for a girl you’d be embarrassed. You would sort of go ‘Oh I can’t believe I did that’ and if they wouldn’t call you, you’d feel really bad and you’d have the walk of shame but I think that has changed and sex is kind of normalised and boys are girls are much more comfortable.”

But Nadia went on to explain that unfortunately, the stigma of women having one-night stands is still prevalent. However, she has been informed that women no longer shame each other as much as they once did which she deems as a positive step to young adults views on sex.

Exclusive: Ruth Langsford’s divorce lawyer probes Eamonn Holmes ‘flirty texts with new lover 12 years ago’

Ruth Langsford’s legal team are compiling a forensically detailed account of Eamonn’s relationship with divorcee Katie Alexander – and are prepared to speak to Katie’s ex husband

Ruth Langsford’s legal team are pulling together a “forensic” timeline of Eamonn’s new relationship ahead of divorce talks.

It follows reports that Eamonn, 64, and Katie Alexander, 43, were first in touch 12 years ago – when they reportedly exchanged flirty messages online. Sources close to the separated couple say lawyers acting for Loose Women favourite Ruth, 64, are compiling information on dates and times surrounding her ex’s blossoming relationship.

And that they are prepared to speak to dating counsellor Katie’s ex husband if needed. An insider said: “Ruth’s legal team are compiling a forensically detailed account of Eamonn’s relationship with Katie and when it started. Ruth’s team are doing their due diligence ahead of the divorce proceedings. They are prepared to speak to people in Ruth and Eamonn’s wider circle.”

It was claimed last week that Eamonn and Katie had exchanged flirty messages online 12 years ago. The dialogue also involved Katie’s husband George – who joked: “Think she’s flirting with you.”

Since that was reported, Eamonn and mum-of-three Katie have contacted their exes to reassure them their relationship only began once their previous ones had come to a definite end. The source added: “Katie and Eamonn have been scrambling around to tell their respective exes that they were not romantically involved way back then.”

Following 14 years of marriage, TV couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes – who have son Jack, 22, announced their shock split in May. The couple released a joint statement saying: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

Ruth is said to have hired £400-an-hour lawyer Catherine Costley, who previously worked under the country’s top divorce lawyer, Baroness Fiona Shackleton, who represented the King in his split from Diana, as well as Sir Paul McCartney.

Eamonn and Katie made their first public appearance as a couple this week, at the Irish Post Awards. Ruth recently made a joke at soon to be ex-husband Eamonn Holmes, while talking about hoarding. Speaking on Loose Women, she said: “I’m throwing out a lot of stuff out at the minute!” prompting laughter from the audience.

Katie hails from Yorkshire and has a 22-year-old son called Ben with her ex, coach driver Michael Devine. The mum-of-three was previously married to bar owner George Alexander, with a son and a daughter together too. The couple separated in 2022, several years after she first made online contact with the GB News presenter.

George and Katie parted amicably, with Eamonn not linked to their split and he told how his ex stayed in contact with new pal Eamonn after her marriage ended. “I was surprised by it,” he said. “Katie would go and visit him. It was a regular pattern.”

While George’s marriage break up had nothing to do with the TV presenter, some reports have suggested Ruth discovered in the year running up to their split Eamonn had been showering Katie with gifts. This included reportedly joining her at a safari park with her children and giving them Beyonce tickets.

Ruth and Eamonn’s representatives were approached for comment. Ruth’s declined to comment.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland reveals hidden ‘conflict’ in his marriage

Comedian and Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland has revealed that there is constant friction between himself and his wife Patricia because they are so different

Strictly’s Chris McCausland claims his wife Patricia brings “chaos” into his life and there is one particular thing they can never agree on that may result in one of them ending up “dead”.

Viewers of Strictly Come Dancing have witnessed the wonderful relationship comedian Chris McCausland has with his professional partner Dianne Buswell. She spoke about what a big fan she was of Chris before the show started but the pair have had to face challenges other couples on the show haven’t, due to his disability.

Chris, 47, is the first blind contestant to take part in the BBC talent show and obviously that has brought its own difficulties to learning routines each week. However the CBeebies actor has stunned both fans and judges in the ballroom with his steely determination and use of his famed quick wit to deal with tricky situations, helped by the expertise and patience of Dianne.

The woman Chris usually spends most of his time with away from Strictly is his wife Patricia. The couple met in 2005 when he was performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and she was filming a documentary there. He previously spoke about how they hit it off and told the Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast: “We spent a lot of time together when the camera wasn’t running, socialising, going out and doing things, and we just had a lot of fun. We were very opposite, she comes across as very British but she’s Brazilian, she came across when she was five or six.”

The couple went on to marry in 2012 after Chris proposed during a Pearl Jam concert at Hyde Park and share daughter Sophie together. But their cultural backgrounds make them very different from each other. “Her life is chaos in the way that Brazilian people are chaos,” he continued. “It’s a natural attribute of their being that they are very proud of – they bring chaos to any room. The number of times she’ll be talking in Portuguese to her mum and then I’ll say to her, ‘Are you okay? What happened there?’ It sounds like they had the most horrific argument and they’re just talking about what they’re going to do that day.”

UKTV)But there’s one thing the couple can never agree on at home and it’s a constant cause of ‘conflict’. In an interview with Brighton Magazine, Chris joked that their physical responses to heat could actually end up being the death of them. “As you can imagine, we are very different in terms of our culture, and our biological response to temperature,” he said. “Whereas my wife will still require a winter coat in 22 degree sunshine, I struggle to function in anything warmer than about 26.”

He continued: “This obviously creates a great deal of conflict when the central heating comes into question. I talk about this in [my stand-up] show, but I think there is a good chance that one of us may one day be found dead in the hallway with one arm reaching out towards the thermostat, with the other one of us having skipped the country.”

Exclusive: Coleen Rooney to struggle with MORE I’m A Celeb trials as childhood trauma exposed

After it was reported that Coleen Rooney would be ruled out of certain trials after being diagnosed with reactive arthritis, a fear from her childhood could make the eating trials a horrendous ordeal for the WAG

Coleen Rooney is set to struggle in the I’m A Celebrity jungle when it comes to eating trials – as she couldn’t even stomach liver as a kid growing up.

The wife of former footballer Wayne is one of the stars heading out to Australia in the next few days ahead of the ITV series starting next week.

Amongst the most common trials all contestants face is eating trials with dishes including camel and sheep udders, crocodile anuses and fermented duck eggs.

Looking back on her diet as a youngster in her autobiography last year, Coleen admitted she struggled with some family meals. She said: “My dad had boxed from a young age, so got in the habit of sticking to a healthy diet. It wasn’t anything extreme, just what he saw as well balanced, but we all ate the same thing on a particular day of the week – every week.

“The menu was written on paper and stuck on the larder door so we all knew what was coming. For example, Monday might be scrambled eggs for breakfast and chicken for dinner. Tuesday would be something completely different for all three meals, but as a family, we all ate the same.

“Wednesdays, it was liver, which, as kids, we hated. I managed to get through mine when I had to by drowning it in mint sauce, but that’s what we got. And back then, it was a case of ‘eat what you’re given’.

“I had a friend, Kelly, whose mum Debbie, was friends with my mum. “Sometimes on a Wednesday, Debbie would ask me ‘you coming to ours for tea tonight Coleen? I’m doing spaghetti bolognese’.

“‘Oh yeah, please, ask my mum if I can come to yours tonight, will you?’. She knew I hated liver night, and this was the only way to avoid it.”

An ITV source said Coleen was in for a tough time if she was picked to do an eating trial. They added: “Some of the things we have got lined up in this series will make liver look like McDonalds. They will be hard for anyone to stomach.”

Coleen is also set to use I’m A Celebrity as a springboard to further TV work and other business opportunities. She is keen to move on from the court case which saw her dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie’ after she used to a trap to catch Rebecca Vardy leaking stories about her family. Vardy denied the allegations and took Coleen to court but then lost.

At the end of Coleen The Autobiography which was published in November last year, she spoke of wanting “new projects” of which the jungle is expected to be the first of many TV opportunities.

She has posed for Vogue in 2005 and 2023 and Coleen concluded: “So much has happened between the first Vogue shoot in 2005 and this new one. Not all of it’s been good, some of it’s been bloody awful, but so much of it has been amazing and beautiful. That’s the stuff I want to hold on to and take forward, not the bad stuff. Let’s leave that where it is eh?

“The first Vogue feature opened many doors for me; offers and opportunities I’d never have dreamed of came my way. Now, I keep thinking – hoping – that it will be the same again this time, that there will be other opportunities, new dreams to fulfill. I’m certainly ready to step back into the world of work and tackle some new projects. It’s one of the things I’m looking forward to most. I’m excited.

“It’s funny, I looked back at the 2005 Vogue interview recently, and as older and hopefully wiser as I am, I could still see so much of the woman I am today. I’ve learned a lot, but deep down, I’ve not changed all that much. Is that a good thing? Yeah, I think it is.”

Coleen will be joined by a real mix of celebs in the camp. Others thought to be included in the line up are Boxing legend Barry McGuigan, Radio 1 star Dean McCulloch, former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos and McFly star Danny Jones.

TikTok star GK Barry is also expected in camp as well as former Strictly Come Dancing champion Oti Mabuse. DJ Melvin Odoom, radio DJ the Reverend Richard Coles and Coronation Street star Alan Halsall.

The new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here starts on ITV on Sunday November 17 at 9pm.

Exclusive: Amy Dowden dramatically quits ENTIRE series of BBC Strictly Come Dancing in shock development

Dancer Amy Dowden has been forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing after breaking a bone in her foot during training in a new blow to the star

Dancer Amy Dowden was tonight forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing after breaking a bone in her foot.

The professional dancer – recovering from breast cancer – suffered the injury in the days ahead of the show on 26 October. Now doctors have told her to rest indefinitely in order to allow the injury to recover, meaning her partner JB Gill will dance with Lauren Oakley for the rest of the series.

Tonight she spoke of her heartache at having to pull out.

She said: “My heart is breaking right now. The past few months I finally felt like me again. Cancer was no longer the first thing I thought of when I woke up. It was choreography, music choices, which dances in which order, what we needed to work on. I felt free again. My goal since hearing those words you have cancer was to get back on the strictly dance floor. It’s been such a challenge to get back, one I devoted 2024 too.

“Which with my incredible team we got there. Something I wanted to do for myself and loved ones. There was no feeling like it dancing again in the ballroom with my strictly family. Then I was partnered with the talented ,kind, gentle soul JB. Every day our training room was chilled, hardworking and full of big smiles enjoying what we was creating together with a blossoming friendship. JB thank you for being the perfect partner back. We topped the leader board week one and continued to work so hard and thank you for being so passionate about understanding the ballroom and Latin fundamentals. For me that rumba will always be one of my favs . I’m so sad, so upset and asking why me, why now that our journey has been cut short.

“My heart right now is breaking having to pull out of the competition due to a foot injury and I know only too well ‘this too shall pass’ and l’ll be soon better and back dancing. Something l’ve had to get used to in my life. I’m sure at some point we will dance again JB. To all the fans, to my loved ones, my strictly family thank you. I know you and Lauren will continue to ace that dance floor . I’ll forever be your biggest cheerleader.”

A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: “Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year. Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner. The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority. The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes.”

Her spokesperson said Amy was desperately upset to have to pull out of the hit show that she had to miss altogether last year while receiving chemotherapy treatment for her cancer.

But they stressed that she was expected to make a full recovery within the next few weeks. “Amy is hoping to be able to dance again on Strictly before the end of the series. It is a different injury to the one she had a year ago. It’s the same foot but a different bone. It’s just terribly bad luck.

“She did it during training, it was one of those things, nobody’s fault, but it got worse over the next few days.”

Millions of viewers saw her cheering on JB on Saturday in the studio. Her spokesperson added: “With this injury, there is no outward sign, she is ok to walk around, but she can’t wear heels.”

Amy Dowden has pulled out of the entire series in a shock development
On October 26 Amy needed medical attention after dancing in the Halloween special with JB with presenter Tess Day announcing Amy would not appearing on the Sunday results show because she was unwell. It was later announced that Lauren, who did not have a celebrity partner this year, would stand in for her with JB for just one week. On Saturday she was tearful as the pair danced the Couple’s Choice routine that she had choreographed – and the JLS singer got his first tens of the series.

For icons week, JB and Lauren, 33, danced to a medley of Bruno Mars hits. Following their performance, an emotional Amy struggled to hold back her tears as they earned 39 points. Telling Lauren she was “so grateful” for how she’d stepped in, she admitted to JB: “I wish I was there with you, you were amazing!”

Amy has had a lot of bad luck when it comes to health issues. She has suffered from Crohn’s disease since childhood, and then was diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 32, days before she was due to go on honeymoon.

After receiving treatment throughout 2023, she suffered another setback with a broken foot last November. She has said that striving to get back to Strictly Come Dancing was one of the factors that most helped her to get through her cancer treatment.

Fans were thrilled to see her back on the show and she received huge support when she had to sit out on Saturday. “I adore Amy she deserves the world and more,” one wrote, with another adding: ”Seeing Amy cry has made me cry. She should’ve been on that dance floor.”

Emotional Prince William says King Charles and Kate’s cancer struggles was ‘hardest year of my life’

Prince William has revealed that the past year has an annus horribilis as he supported both his wife Kate and father, King Charles, in their fights against cancer

Prince William has opened up about the King and Princess of Wales being diagnosed with cancer, describing the year as “the hardest in my life”.

In a searingly honest interview during a solo visit to South Africa, William also spoke of his pride in his father Charles, 74, and his wife Kate, 42, for the bravery they have shown throughout their ordeal. The future king said of his annus horribilis – which is Latin for terrible year: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.

“So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult. But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”

The late Queen branded 1992 an annus horribilis after the royal family suffered a series of setbacks including a fire at Windsor Castle. This year, Charles went to hospital with an enlarged prostate, spending three nights at The London Clinic in January, while Kate spent nearly two weeks there after abdominal surgery. Buckingham Palace announced on February 5 the monarch had a form of cancer, while the princess was diagnosed just days later, although she did not share the news until late March.

William took a leave of absence to care for Kate and their children but announced his return to royal life on foreign soil this week
with the culmination of the 2024 Earthshot Prize awards at a glittering ceremony in Cape Town. The prince heralded the success of the fourth instalment of his global environmental awards – giving five £1million prizes each year over a decade for solutions to the most pressing climate issues, as well as taking the phenomenon to Africa for the first time.

William, 42, met inspiring young people from townships who are using sport to lift themselves from poverty, entrepreneurs, environmentalists and the South African president Cyril Ramaphosa. He also joined supermodels Heidi Klum and Winnie Harlow – who presented awards – on a boat tour of the picturesque fishing village of Kalk Bay.

Royal aides said the trip was evidence of William emerging into a new era of statesmanship after being in the role of the Prince of Wales for the last two years since his father became King. There is no doubt William has entered a new phase, from the causes he has taken on to his ambitions for the future.

In the last year he has also launched Homewards, an ambitious five-year project to tackle homelessness. Such projects – and his wife Kate’s crusade to highlight the importance of early years development in children – appear to now be the bedrock of their future.

Asked whether he was enjoying the responsibility and the freedom in his new role, he said: “It’s a tricky one. Do I like more responsibility? No. Do I like the freedom that I can build something like Earthshot, then yes. And that’s the future for me. It’s very important with my role and my platform, that I’m doing something for good.

“That I’m helping people’s lives and I’m doing something that is genuinely meaningful. So, the Earthshot is a culmination if you like all that put together. But it takes a lot of work; meetings, people coming in, a lot of chatting and phone calls, letters, all trying to sort of make the Earthshot get to being the best possible entity it can be.”

Although appearing to be relaxed this week, he said he had struggled with the balance of home and work life. He revealed: “I couldn’t be less relaxed this year. It’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going. I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family too.”

In Cape Town, William spoke of his love for the country and his desire to bring his children George, 11, Charlotte, nine and Louis, five, to Africa with him in the near future. He also revealed he had upset his daughter so much with his recent beard he was forced to take drastic action. William said: “Well Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, so I had to shave it off. And then I grew it back. I convinced her it was going to be OK.”

William, who returned home last night, staged the ceremony in a purpose-built reusable eco-dome in Cape Town. It started with an “emotional” live broadcast of The Circle of Life from the Lion King.

Speaking after meeting William, model Heidi said: “He has been so amazing, so welcoming to all of us.” Fellow model Winnie said William’s work reminded her of his late mother Diana. She said: “It was beautiful to see him following in her footsteps.”

Strictly Come Dancing fans fuming as exit spoiler reveals ‘outrageous’ dance-off decision

Strictly Come Dancing is now nearing the halfway point of the 2024 season with 10 couples remaining – but one duo have been sent packing after failing to impress at the dance off

The Strictly Come Dancing spoiler has struck again – and, as always, fans of the hit BBC show are shook about the latest result.

Fans of the long-running dance contest will be well aware that the BBC airs the Saturday night episode live as it happens – and then immediately after records the results show that airs on Sunday nights. While the cast and crew are sworn to secrecy over who gets voted off week after week, there are moles working on the show who gleefully release the details hours before they are due to be revealed on the show.

On Saturday night, fans watched the cast take to the floor to perform a Rumba, Waltz, Samba, Cha-cha-cha and more. The judges scored the couples – with the stars with the least scores hoping the public would vote to keep them in the contest. Those found to have the absolute lowest scores would then face the dance off.

As is now practically tradition, a Strictly Spoiler social media and website account holder has ruined the news by leaking the results hours early. And while the Mirror has witnessed the shock news, we have decided not to reveal who is allegedly being asked to leave the dancfloor and never return.

Fans who have witnessed the result, however, have been let gobsmaked by the outcome. Taking to X aka Twitter, one fan raged: “actually so annoyed at this??? neither of the couples in the dance off deserved to be there when they’ve improved week after week and then there’s others that have had several bad weeks and keep sailing through.”

“WHAT?! I’M FLOORED!! This has fully pissed me off actually,” another raged after reading the shock result online, with a third adding: “I’m sorry what!! My first question is why was either couple in the dance off??!! And 2nd why are the worse ones still in?” A fourth declared: “what the hell did i just saw ??? the two couples in the dance off was not supposed to be in the dance off to begin with.”

The 2024 season of Strictly Come Dancing is nearing the halfway point – although roughly six weeks remain before the grand finale. Stars still fighting for the Glitterball Trophy include EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, Olympian-turned-Gladiator Montell Douglas and her dance partner Johannes Radebe, Opera singer Wynne Evans and his dance partner Katya Jones, and model Tasha Ghouri and dancer partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

JLS star JB Gill and his dance partner Lauren Oakley – who stepped into Amy Dowden’s shoes as she has been dealing with a health issue – performed their couple’s choice on Saturday night, attracting warm comments from the judges. While actress Sarah Hadland and her dance partner Vito Coppola took to the floor to show off their Cha-cha-cha.

Blind comedian Chris McCausland performed the Tango with his dance partner Dianne Buswell, and Olympic star Sam Quek glided across the ballroom floor to perform her American Smooth with dance partner Nikita Kuzmin. Remaining couples Shayne Ward, of X Factor fame, and his dance partner Nancy Xu, and Towie Lothario Pete Wicks and his dance partner Jowita Przystał, performed a Quickstep and Salsa respectively.

Exclusive: Great British Bake Off concern as Alison Hammond crashes to the floor in kitchen

Great British Bake Off drama as host Alison Hammond comes a cropper twice in the latest episode including slipping backward from a kitchen worktop

Host Alison Hammond struggles to stay upright in the next episode of The Great British Bake Off with not one but TWO spectacular falls.

She sparks concern as she slips backwards from a kitchen worktop, landing with a thud on the hard floor below. There are gasps all round as she disappears completely from sight and all that remains to be seen are her feet sticking out from the end of the workstation

In the same episode to mark 70s Week, she is also seen sprawled on the grass after falling off a space-hopper – leaving her co-host Noel Fielding collapses in hysterics

The drama kicks off when Noel kicks off the episode by telling viewers they are aiming for a “very serious, sophisticated show” ahead of the following week’s quarter-final. He says this means absolutely no disco balls or lava lamps – as Alison bounces forwards on the orange toy shouting “Yee har, ride the pony baby!” Noel admits it looks like fun and asks for a turn – just as she comes a cropper.

Once she’s dusted herself off and made it inside the tent, the bakers are busy with their technical challenge. But there are screams and gasps as Alison, 49, hurtles backwards after pretending to perch like a model on the edge of the worktop. “I’m just going to add a little bit of happiness in here,” she says, before losing her balance and ending with her legs flying over her head.

As Georgie declares: “She fell off,” mum-of-one Alison can only lie behind the counter in shock. “Don’t come over here,” she laughs. “Leave me. Leave me with my shame.”

Happy that she has somehow escaped unscathed, Noel lies on top of her and declares: “Oh Alison! That’s the best thing I’ve ever seen ever.”

One show source confirmed that the presenter did not hurt herself. “She was absolutely fine – the only thing Alison injured was her pride.”

Illiyin says “wow” at their antics but afterwards Alison tries to re-enact what happened to see what on earth caused her to plummet so dramatically to the floor. “What did I do wrong?” she mutters, limping away with a grimace.

In the episode, which airs on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesday, viewers will find out which of the remaining five bakers will make it through to the quarter-finals ahead of the grand final, which is due to air on November 26.

Loose Women’s Charlene White shares why she doesn’t wear poppy after backlash

Loose Women star Charlene White previously revealed the real reason why she doesn’t wear a poppy on air but viewers tuning into the ITV show are not happy

Loose Women’s Charlene White has sparked backlash from viewers as she appeared on screen without a poppy.

During Friday’s (November 1st) episode of the hit ITV daytime chat show, viewers and the live studio audience were joined by Charlene and co-stars Nadia Sawalha, Judi Love and Frankie Bridge.

Introducing the show, Charlene started off by saying: “We’ve got that Friday feeling guys. Welcome to your final Loose Women of the week and we definitely have that Friday feeling.”

She added: “It’s the first of November, which means we are heading a lot closer to Christmas.” However just minutes in, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to notice that Charlene was the only panellist that wasn’t weaning a poppy live on air.

It didn’t take long for fans to rush straight to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reaction. One fan asked: “Where’s your poppy Charlene????????? #LooseWomen.”

Another said: “So what acceptable reason has Charlene got to NOT wear a poppy like most people would.” A third commented: “Anyone know why Charlene isn’t wearing a poppy?”

Meanwhile one viewer leaped to Charlene’s defence and said: “The poppy police are pathetic, bet there the same people who usually harp on about free speech yet they can’t handle someone not wearing a poppy #LooseWomen.”

However Charlene has previously revealed the real reason behind her decision not to wear a poppy as she admitted that she feels ‘uncomfortable’ supporting just one charity above others.

She also said that the racist and sexist abuse that she receives made the decision even more difficult. The TV presenter explained: “I support and am patron of a number of charities, and due to impartiality rules, I am not allowed to visually support them all whilst presenting news programmes. That includes things like a red ribbon for World Aids Day, or a purple band for Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

“Both these and many more charities do great things in the UK, but I’m not allowed to give them exposure on screen. So I feel uncomfortable supporting just one charity above all others, namely The Royal British Legion, but I fully support my colleagues who do choose to wear the poppy on screen.”

I wear a poppy on Armistice Day – in fact I wear one that my friend Jen’s mum knitted for me a few years ago, she explained. “And I proudly have one of the ceramic poppies from the Tower Of London on my mantelpiece.

“So please don’t think that I don’t support the work that our service personnel do, or that I don’t understand the sacrifices made by servicemen and women 100 years ago. I do.”

Charlene explained that her dad and uncle were part of the armed forces and she made it clear that she thinks it’s important to fight for freedom of speech.

She said: “I come from a Forces family. My Dad served in the RAF, and my uncle served in the Army. When I first decided not to wear the poppy on screen, I spoke to both of them to make sure they were okay with it. And they both support my decision.

Charlene added: “It is always important to remember what my family, your family, and millions of people over many generations have fought for: the right to choose, and the right of freedom of speech and expression.”

ITV Loose Women’s Kelly Holmes opens up about her ‘denial’ of one health issue

Three years ago, the 54-year-old experienced body pains so extreme that she couldn’t do a single push-up. Now, she’s lifting a lid on the health struggle that many women face

Olympic hero Kelly Holmes has made a name for herself as a health and fitness guru, sports pundit and gracing our screens on Loose Women. But, despite her confident TV persona, the 54-year-old has been secretly battling the menopause, confessing to OK! that she had previously been ‘in denial’ about it.

“About three years ago, I was getting bad body pains to the point where I couldn’t even do one push-up,” Kelly told the publication. “If anyone knows me, they know I keep myself fit. So to not be able to do one push-up was alarming. The worst pains were in my wrists, then I ached through to my bones. It was just constant pain, I could feel it in my body the whole time.”

In addition to these crippling symptoms, she’s been wrestling with insomnia, something she didn’t at first link to hormonal changes affecting her sleep. With ongoing issues, the celebrated Olympian sought medical advice and underwent tests to see if she was going through the menopause.

Kelly’s test results revealed alarmingly low levels of oestrogen and testosterone, leading her doctor to suggest hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Kelly shared her initial reluctance: “But I didn’t want to have HRT, as I didn’t want to put anything I don’t understand into my body… But I also knew that I needed to try it. So I started taking it and I realised I didn’t like it.”

Now feeling stronger, Kelly is passionate about spreading the word on the benefits of exercise, especially weight training, to combat muscle loss from reduced oestrogen. “It’s brilliant doing fitness when you’ve been feeling low and it’s important when you’re getting weaker. So weight training has become something important to me,” she explained, before adding: “Conversation is key. And those of you who are suffering, just book that appointment with a doctor. It can really make a huge difference.”
