Just moments earlier, the former This Morning presenter had released a heartfelt message on social media in which he came out as gay. During his emotional appearance on the ITV show, Phillip broke down at the time after admitting that he could not have done it without the support of Holly, his wife Steph and their two daughters.

While he said he was proud of coming out, he was also “conscious of the hurt” he may have caused. It was also during the interview that Phillip explained to the presenters that he had broken the news to his mum, Pat.

Her straightforward response was to the point, but also touching in its own way. The dad-of-two had actually travelled down to Cornwall to tell his mum in person. “My mum has been on the phone all morning,” Phillip told Holly Willoughby during his emotional interview back in 2020. “I went down to see her in Cornwall. Phillip then broke the news to his mum, revealing “She said: ‘Oh ok, well I don’t care.’”

The presenter laughed as he recalled his mum’s simple yet loving response to his announcement. At the time, Phillip also praised his wife and daughters as they supported him through the difficult time.

In his statement, Phillip added: “Steph has been incredible – I love her so very much. She is the kindest soul I have ever met. My girls have been astonishing in their love, hugs and encouraging words of comfort. Both mine and Steph’s entire families have stunned me with their love, instant acceptance and support. Of course they are worried about Steph, but I know they will scoop us both up. My friends are the best, especially Holly, who has been so kind and wise – and who has hugged me as I sobbed on her shoulder.

Meanwhile, they say, “Holly isn’t batting an eyelid at this; it’s like she couldn’t care less,” highlighting a lack of concern from her end. “Phil is coming across as incredibly bitter. Holly knows who her friends are, and they’re the people to whom she pays attention.” Reports have emerged that Phillip vented his exasperation to co-star Holly Willoughby via WhatsApp before the public learned of his departure from This Morning.

An insider spilled to The Mirror: “As well as saying she had brought him down, he said he couldn’t believe his TV sister would do this to him.” Allegations suggest Phillip felt slighted by Holly’s supposed lack of solidarity amid speculation of behind-the-scenes tension following his brother’s court proceedings in May 2023.

Phillip’s sibling, Timothy Schofield, received a 12-year prison sentence for a series of child sex offences that occurred between October 2016 and October 2019. Phillip recently made a TV return on Channel 5 this September after concluding a two-decade stint on This Morning. While marooned on an isolated island for his comeback show, Phillip reflected on his time at the ITV studio, which he claimed grew inhospitable.

Subtly alluding to his peers, he remarked: “And the people who did it to me, know, they know how important that building was to me. They know that when you throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really bloody good reason to do it. Brand, ambition is not good enough. It’s not a good enough reason to throw someone under a bus.”

Eamonn Holmes and Phillip Schofield have never been close pals and the Belfast broadcaster hasn’t held back when it comes to voicing his opinion about the TV star.

Phillip’s new Channel 5 series Cast Away has seen him suggest he was “thrown under the bus” by his colleagues before his exit from This Morning.

But Eamonn, who worked with the former primetime host for 14 years, hit back on his GB News breakfast show, saying: “I’m one of the people who threw him under the bus I am very proud to have done it”. The star went onto accuse Phillip of being “absolutely addicted to fame”.

Phillip left the ITV show last year after admitting to an “unwise, but not illegal affair” with a younger male colleague. Rumours had been swirling for months about a feud with his former best pal, co-star Holly Willoughby, too.

Phil cuts off Ruth

Tension behind the scenes on the This Morning sofa famously spilled into the public eye in 2019, when Phillip cut Ruth off as the show was handing over to Loose Women for a preview of panel topics that day. Ruth hadn’t finished talking when the host jumped in and said: “Guys, we’re going to have to jump in there and stop you I’m afraid because we’re a bit tight for time at this end. Thank you, Ruth.”

The Loose Women star looked visibly annoyed and threw her hands up in the air, hitting back: “Well, I only had about two more words to say”. The snappy exchange led viewers to suspect an offscreen feud and it was reported that Ruth made a complaint to ITV about Phillip’s “rudeness” and the “toxicity” that she claimed he brought to ITV.

“It was about his rudeness,” Eamonn said later in an interview with GB News. “We always had to do this handover between programmes from This Morning and Loose Women about what was coming on next. The Loose Women always felt very demeaned by the whole thing because he was always so rude to them.”

‘Deception’ claims

When Phillip, who had been married to his wife Stephanie for 27 years, came out as gay on This Morning in February 2020, Eamonn and Ruth were by his side. The former couple put rumours of tension to one side to support the star, with the Belfast broadcaster telling Phillip: “It’s fantastic, so many people will be strengthened by this. We’ll be standing beside you.”

Phillip later told social media: “Can I just say that @EamonnHolmes & @RuthieeL were utterly magnificent with me today, privately downstairs just the three of us and upstairs in front of the world. I couldn’t have hoped for a better, calming and loving set of hugs and support, I adore them both.”

The star later confessed to having an affair with a younger colleague on his morning programme and Eamonn went on to claim the couple had been deceived, saying: “The man told us complete lies and we unfortunately believed him”.

“Ruth and I were deceived and lied to,” he raged at both Phillip and ITV. “One day I will tell the story. We had no issue with him being gay, only support. What transpired took us for fools .”

Queue gate

In September 2022, Phillip and his co-presenter Holly Willoughby were blasted for queue-jumping the public to see the late Queen Elizabeth II lying in state. While David Beckham was among the huge celebrities to queue for hours, the This Morning duo did not but they insisted they had “respected” the rules set for media.

Eamonn called them both arrogant liars, saying: “They didn’t get a fast-track, they say. Lie. They say they didn’t pay their respects to the body. Lie. What else were they there for? Let’s just tell the truth about the whole thing.

“They messed up, and instead of being arrogant and saying: ‘We were there working as journalists’, why don’t they just say: ‘Yeah, we thought it would be a good idea’.”

The ‘fake friendship’

A month before he resigned from ITV, Phillip hit back at reports he had fallen out with Holly saying she was his “rock” and “best friend”. This prompted Eamonn to say that both he and Holly “deserved a special award for best actors” at the BAFTA TV Awards.

“The public surely will suss that there’s no chemistry,” he said on GB News. “That it’s a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.”

Phillip ‘caught out’

Phillip announced his departure from This Morning on May 20, 2023, after confessing to an affair with a much younger colleague. Eamonn was quick to respond, fuming: “Schofield has finally been caught out”.

“Let’s just stop this,” he told GB News. “He was sacked. All this nonsense about giving him: ‘I’ve decided to step down.’ I’m sure you did, I’m sure you did. Here’s your P45, now step down.”

ITV responded to the comments saying Phillip’s exit from the show was a joint decision with This Morning.

The bombshell claims

In a no holds barred interview last May, Eamonn hit out following the news his former colleague had embarked on a affair with a young runner on This Morning. During the chat, he claimed that Phillip’s ex- lover was driven from his London home in cars paid for by ITV, and made further claims about a “cover-up” about the affair by the channel.

Gloria, 81, described the support she found in messages from others when her own daughter Caron Keating died at the age of 41 from breast cancer.

She said: “Those letters meant everything at that period of time, because it gives you great comfort that people loved your child, partner, mum or dad, whatever the case may be.

She continued: “I believe having been through it, that losing a child takes you to a depth that you never knew that you had of sadness.

Gloria said it has been “a very sad week” and her thoughts have been with Brenda since she learnt of Jamal’s death.

Loose Women’s Charlene White has slammed trolls who accused her of “playing the race card” during a conversation on the ITV daytime show on racism at the Ukrainian border.

The 41-year-old clashed with fellow panellist Janet Street-Porter on Tuesday as Charlene highlighted the devastating reports of terrified refugees being stranded at the border due to racism.

Charlene told her fellow panellists: “There is one thing that has really stuck out to me in the midst of people trying to flee from their homes, trying to dodge bullets and bombs, they still have time for racism.

“You’ve got thousands of Black, Asian, Syrian, Arab students and workers who have also been trying to get out of Ukraine and have been prevented from doing so due to the incessant racism that they have experienced. They’ve not been allowed to go through the border into Poland for example, where they’ve been pushed back.”

“I think that’s a very clear reflection of what it is the world is dealing with – and this isn’t just in Ukraine, this happens in wars the world over, especially when it comes to migrant workers.”

She continued: “The difference I think this time is that it’s a younger demographic who are used to posting on TikTok, on Twitter, on Facebook and they’re telling their story.”

Janet, 75, then interjected to say: “I hear what you’re saying, and I completely understand it and on the news last night, they did show some of the students talking about how badly they were treated and the effort it had taken for them to get on the train and get across the border.

“But I also think Poland, for example, has exceeded all expectations in accepting 150,000 refugees.”

The pair entered a quick-fire back and forth over the issue and a number of viewers took issue with Charlene’s response to the reports of racial injustice and criticised her for “playing the race card”.

The 32-year-old presenter made her return to the ITV show’s panel properly for the first time in months, after welcoming her and husband-to-be Joe Swash’s daughter Rose into the world in October.

And as she joined Kaye Adams, Judi Love and Nadia Sawalha on the panel, Stacey gave fans an update on her home birth, her baby Rose and her struggles with tongue tie.

Speaking to her co-hosts, she said: “I can’t believe we’re allowed to hug now! It’s been too long. I’ve missed you all so much.”

“Yes, we would love… if all goes well.. because Covid’s still massive and you never know what’s around the corner, but we would love to get married in July next year, we really would. It will be so nice to have the boys and Rose there,” she said.

Admitting she was struggling to sleep, she added: “I’ve put a hell of a lot of make-up on for this interview and you can’t even see it, it sinks into my skin now. She sleeps, she sleeps like a new-born – they’re up all night really aren’t they? But she is good. She’s content, which is nice. She’s amazing, she’s really lovely. I can’t stop staring at her.”

The duo appeared on the lunchtime programme on Tuesday, where they were joined by Katie Piper and Coleen Nolan, as they discussed the big news stories of the day.

Understandably, top of the list, was the conflict in Ukraine, with Charlene raising awareness of the devastating stories shared by some people from the border who say they are not being allowed to pass through because of the colour of their skin.

Discussing it, Charlene told her fellow panellists: “But there is one thing that has really shone a light on where I’m concerned, that has really stuck out to me, is that in the midst of all of this, the midst of people trying to flee from their homes, the midst of them trying to dodge bullets and bombs, they still have time for racism.

The presenter returned to the ITV lunchtime show today for the first time properly in eight months, and she brought a very special guest with her to celebrate her return to the programme.

Towards the end of the show, Stacey popped backstage to get baby Rose and bring her to see the three other panellists – as Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Judi Love all gushed over the little one.

The trio shrieked in excitement as Rose was brought onto the set by Stacey.

Kaye held up the tiny swimming costume, as she remarked on Stacey recently taking baby Rose for her first swimming lesson. As Stacey was handed some flowers from the whole team, Judi asked to hold baby Rose as Nadia coo-ed over the little one.

During the show, Stacey discussed her “calming” home birth with baby Rose.

“There’s not a right or a wrong way to give birth, but I can honestly say I’ve never felt so calm and relaxed,” she explained, “I’ve always associated birth with trauma and I always feel really scared when I go into labour and being in hospital almost confirms that fear. I didn’t just feel safe, it was the first time I ever felt in control during labour.

Stacey also documented her struggle with getting tongue tie diagnosed in her little one.

She added: “”Ultimately, I just think some people in the medical profession don’t want to recognise it because they then have to put budget towards it. Jeremy Clarkson has defied his doctor’s orders by joining an army of farmers descending on Westminster to protest against Labour’s new inheritance tax.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 64, had an emergency operation on his heart in October and was warned to stay away from ‘stressful situations’ . However, the TV presenter was determined to go to join the mass protest and show his support for his fellow farmers, who are protesting against the Government’s new taxes for farms.

Speaking about the impassioned rally, which will hear from celebrities and farming leaders on a procession to Parliament Square, Jeremy said he would not have missed the event.

Clarkson – who was joined by his Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper at the rally – said he was leading ‘two coaches of farmers’ from Diddly Squad to highlight a ‘hugely important issue.’

Joining Jeremy at the rally were a convoy of tractors driving through Parliament Square, Westminster where farmers are due to stage protests calling for the Government to scrap its changes to agricultural inheritance tax ahead of protests in Westminster.

Protests already erupted outside the Welsh Labour conference over the new taxes for farms worth more than £1 million, which have been fulled by uncertainty about Treasury figures the Budget bombshell is based on.

The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) is holding a mass lobby of MPs with 1,800 of its members – three times as many people as originally planned – to urge backbenchers to stand up to the Government’s plans to impose inheritance tax on farms worth more than £1 million.

And thousands more are expected to join a separate rally in Whitehall as they protest against last month’s Budget, which also sped up the phase out of EU-era subsidies as funding is switched to nature-friendly farming schemes.

Farmers have reacted with anger to the inheritance tax changes for farming businesses, which limit the existing 100% relief for farms to only the first £1 million of combined agricultural and business property.For anything above that, landowners will pay a 20% tax rate, rather than the standard 40% rate of inheritance tax (IHT) applied to other land and property.

Last week, Jeremy accused the government of “ethnically cleansing” the British countryside to make way for “immigrant towns” on farmland.

Speaking to broadcasters at the G20 summit in Brazil on Monday, Sir Keir Starmer insisted “the vast majority of farms” will not be affected by the reforms.

“On the question inheritance tax, look I do understand that it’s causing concern,” the Prime Minister said.

“But if you take a typical case of a couple wanting to pass a family farm down to one of their children, which would be a very typical example, with all of the thresholds in place, that’s £3 million before any inheritance tax is paid.

“And that’s why I’m confident that the vast majority of farms and farmers will not be affected at all by that aspect of the budget.

“They will be affected by the £5 billion that we’re putting into farming, and I’m very happy to work with farmers on that.”

Jeremy’s appearance at the protest comes after he was warned by his doctor to take it easy. The dad-of-of-three ended up in hospital in October before candidly revealing that he’d undergone a heart procedure following a “sudden deterioration” in his wellbeing.

The Grand Tour presenter experienced difficulty climbing stairs after a swim while on holiday, and his condition didn’t improve upon returning to the UK.

As reported at the time, the former Top Gear host shared that he felt “clammy,” experienced a “tightness” in his chest and had “pins and needles” in his left arm. Concerned of a potential heart attack, he sought medical attention and ended up going to hospital in an ambulance, where he said they ruled out a heart attack following an ECG, blood tests and X-rays.

After it was decided Jeremy would need a stent to improve the blood flow to the heart, Jeremy summed up his time in hospital, writing in his column for the Sunday Times: “It wasn’t especially painful. Just odd,” adding that he has thought since: “Crikey, that was close.”

He also tried to make light of the situation admitting that he was “wondering what water tastes like and if it’s possible to make celery interesting” after his health scare. Jeremy has already given up smoking after he got pneumonia while on holiday in Spain.

Katie Price has been caught brazenly vaping on a train in front of un impressed passengers.

The former glamour model, 46, was pictured puffing on the fruity vape as she stood on the Southern train before it arrived at Haywards Heath station in West Sussex. Wearing a black hoodie, the mum-of-five appeared to have no qualms about pulling out her vape and inhaling while the train was still travelling – and while it was full of passengers.

While there is no law that prohibits vaping in public places in the UK, most service providers have rules for the stations and services they operate. If you vape on public transport, you might be asked to stop or get off the vehicle. Repeated violations could lead to being banned from the service.

However, Katie proved that the rules and regulations were not her priority when she continued to vape on the busy train. One passenger aboard the carriage revealed that Katie was making light of her decision to smoke the e-cigarette on public transport.

“I was on the train and recognised Katie immediately with her distinctive voice and look. But I was shocked to see her vaping, considering it is banned. The rules are there for a reason,” the passenger shared.

“It is common courtesy for the other passengers, which she clearly did not worry about. What made it worse is that she was speaking to someone about how she had already been caught doing it before,” they told The Sun.

Last year, Katie blamed vaping for her tooth falling out in a shocking update – much to the concern of her loyal fanbase. Speaking on her self-titled Apple podcast, the former glamour model opened up about her addiction to e-smoking and the negative impact of the habit on her dental health.

“I am going to stop it because I don’t know why I do it,” the 45-year-old admitted. “It’s this new social thing where everyone vapes.” Katie, who was joined by her younger sister Sophie for the chat, then mused that the appeal of the vape lies in its scent.

“Do you know what it is, they smell nice,” she explained, after insisting that she’s determined to kick the habit because she prefers to be a “leader” than a “follower.” Katie also explained: “I like the way it just comes out, if you take it in and swirl your tongue around you really get the taste.”

Unfortunately, the former I’m A Celebrity star’s vice may have had already had a negative effect on her health. “Sorry everyone if I have insulted you by vaping, you know my tooth came out…I swear it is the vape because I put it here, it’s on the tooth that came out,” she admitted. “I wonder if that’s what made my tooth fall out.”

Katie shocked fans last year after showcasing a jarring gap in her set of pearly whites, after one of her newly-implanted veneers came loose. The reality TV icon had travelled all the way to Turkey to have the procedure done, only to suffer major dental issues upon returning home.

She has come under fire multiple times for vaping on her podcast, with some fans shaming her as ‘irresponsible’ and a bad role model to her younger viewers. One wrote: “Vaping on camera is so irresponsible, especially with your mums lung disease” while another said: “Vaping ffs …. A very bad advert for your younger fans , show some responsibility please.” A third user added: “Vaping with your mum’s lung issues? Joke.” Even the model’s 33-year-old sister, Sophie, has publicly urged her to quit.

“Yes, you must stop vaping! My argument is our mum does have a lung condition and you’re vaping,” she said. Katie’s mother, Amy, recently underwent a lung transplant after being diagnosed idopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017. The 71-year-old was placed in a coma before receiving the major operation, which her famous daughter says gave her a “second chance at life.”
