ITV I’m A Celebrity almost forced off the air as devastating storms destroy set

ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and the Unpacked companion show have been thrown into chaos this weekend as severe weather and storms destroyed part of the set

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was thrown into chaos by devastating storms that completely destroyed parts of the set.

Show hosts Ant McPartln and Declan Donnelly were sent heart-stopping text messages from show bosses saying the show might not go on as the show set in New South Wales, Australia, was slammed with torrential rain and high winds. The hosts of spin-off show I’m A Celeb… Unpacked were also warned they may have to abandon plans to record the show live as the weather created devastation behind the scenes.

Appearing on the ITV2 spin-off show on Saturday night, Ant and Dec revealed the moments that they were warned they might be forced to abandon filming. Dec said: “We all got a text this morning saying the rain was so bad we might not be able to get in today.” And Ant confirmed the story, explaining: “We almost didn’t make it in”.

Unpacked star Joel Dommett revealed that he and his co-stars Sam Thompson and former Mirror video journalist, Kemi Rodgers had also been warned about the weather and that the show sets could be inaccessible due to the weather. Ant and Dec then explained that parts of the set had been completely destroyed and that a planned trial was at risk of being abandoned due to the adverse weather.

Ant revealed: “[The trial] has been delayed because of the weather. So we will be here for a lot longer today.” Dec added: “We just have to make sure that the trial that was scheduled is doable in the area that it was. Everything is a little up in the air here.”

Joel then said: “People don’t understand that this show is more than what you see on tele. There is an entire infrastructure of stuff.” And revealing some details of destruction, Ant went on: “Things have blown down in the night. There’s a tent out the back there where friends and family come and guests on the ITV2 show stay before they go on. And that’s all blown away. That’s all gone. It’s been pretty tough.”

Fans watching began to speculate that a show exit had been prevented by the weather. One wrote on X: “The rain has even disrupted a trial from taking place and where the celebs families usually wait … guess that explains why no one was leaving tonight #imacelebrity #ImACeleb #Unpacked.” And another gasped: “Wow, the rain was so bad today that the show almost didn’t air!! Crazy!! #ImACeleb #Unpacked.”

Parts of Australia have been hit by extreme weather this week – with hail and storms predicted to cause havoc. Morgan Pumpa from the Bureau of Meteorology warned of severe storms, stating on Friday: “We do have quite a large area of thunderstorm activity today stretching out across many states.”

Exclusive: Coleen Rooney’s brother reveals I’m A Celeb star’s secret motivation to win jungle crown

Coleen Rooney’s younger brother Joe reflects on her Jungle experience so far – saying the whole family are so proud of her and that she will be longing to be reunited with her boys

Coleen Rooney’s younger brother Joe believes the thought of being reunited with her boys could propel her to victory in the Jungle.

His sister is set to enter the final week of I’m A Celeb having captured the hearts of viewers with her down-to-earth mentality, and brilliant anecdotes.

And Joe says she will have one eye on the finish line – and seeing Kit, eight, and Cass, six, again who have made the trip to Australia.

“It’s the longest she’s been away from her family, and I know she will be missing them like mad, but it’ll also push her on even more,” he said. “Knowing her two youngest lads, as well as mum and dad, will be waiting for her when she gets out will be keeping her going.”

As the show hots up with the public beginning to vote for the favourites, Joe hopes that Coleen can go deep into the final week.

But he added: “We’re all so proud of her already, to be honest. Of course, we’d love for Coleen to win, but just seeing how she’s handling everything so far, that’s a massive achievement in itself. She’s doing so well.”

Cementing her place as the nation’s new sweetheart, Coleen has also opened up on her relationship with husband Wayne – including how he is a real romantic and writes her poetry. There have also been incredibly poignant moments such as her confiding in Oti Mabuse about having suffered two miscarriages, and talking about life in the spotlight.

Asked how Wayne was coping in her absence, Joe said: “He’s missing her, like all of us are but we have got a good support system.”

Coleen has also lived up to her Wagatha Christie nickname in the camp by working out that the Jungle Junkyard was a secret luxury camp.

Joe adds: “No surprise there! She’s sharp, nothing gets past her. She’s always been like that.” She has also thrilled viewers with her stories, including meeting “orange” Donald Trump, as well as opening up about her court case with Rebekah Vardy.

Coleen told campmates: “What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me. “No one knew the full story.”

“I’m glad people have the opportunity to see the real Coleen in the jungle, she’s growing day by day and I think people will get to know her more and more as time goes on.”

Joe urged the public to keep voting for her, as well as to do more trials, where he believes she can really excel.

“She was brilliant in her last trial – mad to see how calm she was with all those cockroaches crawling all over her,” he says.

“I know she’d love to do more- she went in determined to get stuck into all the experiences the jungle has to offer.”

ITV bosses have been thrilled with the reaction to Coleen so far in the jungle. She was rumoured to be the highest earner in camp but insiders say she has been “worth every penny” and one of their most successful campmates to date.

One exec told the Mirror: “Of all the campmates, she is probably the least showbiz and the most humble and down to earth.

“It’s why she has connected with not only the people in camp but with the wider public as well. “It’s little wonder that ITV would love to do more with her when her jungle adventure is over.”

Leaked BBC Strictly spoiler blasted an ‘absolute disgrace’ as fans demand show is axed

Strictly fans flocked to Twitter to give their thoughts on the result, with one fan branding it an “absolute disgrace”, while another suggested the “rules need to be changed

Strictly fans were not happy yet again this week after the results of this week’s exit was leaked online, with some suggesting “something isn’t adding up”.

The results show airs on Sunday but is pre-recorded on the Saturday night after the live show, meaning that the name of the axed star is often leaked online. The Mirror knows the name of the celebrity, but won’t be naming them.

Fans flocked to Twitter to give their thoughts on the result, with one fan branding it an “absolute disgrace”, while another suggested the “rules need to be changed”. Another wrote: “I’m really shocked about one of the couples in tonight’s Dance off especially when they’ve been so consistent since Week 1. Devastated about the other couple going home as they’ve been my favourites since Week 1. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”

One seethed: “i hope this is the series that gets this awful show cancelled.”

However, others hit back at angry viewers as one wrote: “Imagine getting so triggered over a light entertainment show.. some people have a bigger fan base than others and that’s always been the case..” Another agreed, commenting: “I wish people could just not be horrible about those left in. Everyone likes dancers for different reasons some prefer more of a journey and some prefer more polished performances but they are all working as hard as each other.”

This week was Musicals Week and the pressure was on for the couples to make it through to semi-finals next week.

Flying high at the top of the leaderboard were JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, whose Viennese Waltz very nearly got a perfect 40. In joint second were Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola with their Charleston to Popular from Wicked and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec with their Argentine Tango to Ex-Wives from SIX, with both scoring 38.

Much further down were Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe and Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, who both scored 32 for their Rumba to I’m Here from The Color Purple and Quickstep to You’re The Top from Anything Goes, respectively.

Sitting at the bottom again were Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał, who failed to impress with their Waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story: 5, 7, 7, 7 meaning a score of 26

It comes as EastEnders favourite Jamie Borthwick was the latest exit of the series last weekend. He and pro dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas found themselves in the dreaded bottom two with Montell and Johannes.

Jamie was sent home by the judges, with many viewers were shocked by the decision. Speaking about his departure last week, Jamie told the show: “Strictly is magic. That is all I can say. Strictly is magic.

“Not just everyone who you see in front of the camera, these four here [the judges], but everyone who works on this show. I have such a good bond and relationship with and that’s what made me want to do this show, it’s the people, not what I’m doing. I’ve had the best time.”

Broadcasting legend, Mishal Husain, will leave the BBC in the new year after 26 years at the corporation

After it was revealed the journalist would be leaving the corporation, next year, Mishal said: “My time at the BBC has involved many memorable moments, going to places I would never otherwise have seen, witnessing history and being part of live, national conversation on Radio 4.

“I will always be grateful for the opportunities the BBC gave me, and wish the organisation and everyone who is part of it the very best.”

It has been my great privilege to work alongside her and, along with the Today team, I’ll miss her enormously but wish her all the very best in her new venture.”

Meanwhile, CEO of BBC News Deborah Turness, shared: “Mishal leaves the BBC with an incredible journalistic legacy. After more than a decade on the Today programme she is going with our gratitude and affection and we wish her the best of luck in her new chapter. I very much hope the BBC and Mishal will get the chance to work together again one day.”

“Ours is an ever more complex world but the desire for thoughtful conversations crosses all borders. I look forward to working with a new team at Bloomberg – the place which gave me my first job in journalism.”

Mishal presents the Radio 4 Today show, which discusses news and current affairs, alongside Emma Barnett, Justin Webb, Amol Rajan and Nick Robinson. The broadcaster previously hinted at her exit from the programme in an interview with The Sunday Times in June during which she said she was “thinking about what is beyond Today” and was “wondering what the next act of my career might look like.”

The journalist, who was paid up to £345,000 last year, will remain on air into the new year but after that she will move to front a new interview series at financial and data media company Bloomberg, as editor-at-large of Bloomberg Weekend Edition.

Speaking about her new appointment, Mishal said: “I am delighted to be fronting a new interview show that will reach audiences in different formats as part of the exciting plans for Bloomberg Weekend Edition.

The mum-of-three started her BBC career as a producer in 1998, becoming a presenter on BBC World News in 2001 and working both in the studio and on location, from the US to the Middle East, South Asia, Singapore and China. In 2014 she was the first reporter to enter the school attacked by the Taliban in Peshawar, Pakistan, and in 2017 her engagement interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was viewed around the world.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans claim judge has ‘vendetta’ after ‘disgusting’ scores

Strictly Come Dancing 2024 viewers were left suggesting the judges were favouring certain contestants, not happy with the scores given to Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola

There was some upset with Strictly Come Dancing viewers on Saturday night, just weeks before the final.

Some fans feared Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola would be at risk and might not make the next two shows, after some “unfair” scores from the judges. For weeks the duo have impressed the judges and viewers, with some fans convinced they could win the Glitterball Trophy.

But week after week we’ve seen Sarah and Vito miss out on 10s, despite being told their routines are perfect. In the latest show, the duo performed a fun and energetic Charleston to Popular from Wicked.

Viewers thought it was amazing, with the judges also praising the routine. Motsi Mabuse said it was “a definite yes”, with “unbelievable” lifts. She said: “You did not miss a beat,” and that she “set the standard”.

Craig told the pair it was “prim” and “fantastic”, as well as “phenomenal”, telling them: “Bravo!” When the scores came in, Sarah got nines from Motsi and Craig, while the other judges gave them 10s.

Viewers called out the fact that no matter how well Sarah did and despite the comments, she still didn’t get a 10 from Craig or Motsi. Questioning the decision, some fans questioned if they “had something against” their performances.

One viewer said: “Craig sees no flaws with Sarah’s Wicked dance and still doesn’t give her a 10.” Another commented: “Judge Shenanigans: Motsi & Craig, keep it cool! Sarah & Vito’s Charleston? 10/10. Don’t start me this early!”

A third added: “Right come on Craig and Motsi what the hell have you got against Sarah and Vito… That was a very clear 40 but of course you two give a 9…. Every damn week they are marked down this is beyond disgusting now and isn’t fair. Saving the 40 for a certain someone.” Another fan commented: “Craig said perfect & she still can’t get a 40. It’s like they’ve got a vendetta on her.”

That said, Craig has notably not awarded hugely high scores all series, so perhaps he’s waiting for the final weeks. It comes as EastEnders favourite Jamie Borthwick was the latest exit of the series last weekend. He and pro dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas found themselves in the dreaded bottom two with Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe.

Jamie was sent home by the judges, while many viewers were shocked by the decision. Speaking about his departure last week, Jamie told the show: “Strictly is magic. That is all I can say. Strictly is magic.

He went on: “I could ramble on all day about this one [Michelle]. She’s a new pro and she’s absolutely been the most amazing teacher. We have laughed like you wouldn’t believe. I have nothing but the utmost respect for everyone on the show, so thank you.”

Michelle added: “I just want to say it goes without saying Jamie is an amazing dancer, and he’s improved so much week by week. He’s worked so hard to get to where he is. It’s my first year with a partner and I’ve realised that it’s so much more than just the dancing, it’s the bonds and the friendships that you make. I waited two years for a partner and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

Exclusive: Celebrity Apprentice details leaked as Alan Sugar to fly 10 stars out for festive treat

In the Celebrity Apprentice spin-off, back after five years, 10 famous faces will be set tasks by Lord Alan Sugar and hiring for the new series is under way, a source said

Lord Alan Sugar is getting all fired up for his 20th anniversary in the TV boardroom as he brings in a host of stars to boot off his show.

In the Celebrity Apprentice spin-off, back after five years, 10 famous faces will be set tasks by the businessman. But this time they’re in for a festive treat, as Lord Sugar flies them to Finland to meet Father Christmas and make products to sell back in the UK.

A source said: “Lord Sugar will be sending them to Lapland to get a brief from Santa. Hiring for the new series is under way – and there will be the usual firing that we love the show for.”

Insiders say the 20th anniversary special will be aired late next year to coincide with the Beeb’s Comic Relief. The last celebrity show, Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, aired in 2019. The girls’ team won after Loose Women favourite Ayda Field roped in pop star husband Robbie Williams to help.

News of the latest special comes after it was announced last week Lord Sugar, 77, Baroness Karren Brady, 55, and Tim Campbell, 47, will all be back for the regular Apprentice series next year. That show will have another 18 candidates battling it out for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment and mentorship. Tasks will include selling tour packages in the Austrian Alps, designing Easter eggs, and creating a virtual pop star.

It comes weeks after Lord Sugar criticised streaming platform ITVX, with the businessman telling fans that he feels “cheated” after having signed up for a subscription. The founder of Amstrad shared a tweet on X, saying: “I feel I have been cheated by ITVX. I paid for a subscription on the basis that there would be no adverts in the programmes.” Lord Sugar added in the tweet: “However, whilst there are no 3rd party adverts, they are constantly advertising their own shows. It’s really frustrating.”

ITVX offers two plans at the moment, including a “free with ads” option. The other, ITVX Premium, is priced at £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year after a 7 day free trial. Its website promises that Premium customers can “watch ad-free,” but a disclaimer warns: “Ad-free applies to our on-demand library only and programmes may contain ITV promotions where contractually required. Live TV plays with ads.” Another page states: “With ITVX Premium, you can watch most shows and movies on demand without the adverts, and download them to watch offline.”

Frankie Bridge reveals she’s tried ketamine treatment after 17 year mental health battle

Frankie Bridge spoke openly about her past experience with depression and the treatments she used. She shared her views after Roman Kemp revealed he is adjusting to life without medication.

Frankie Bridge has reflected on being hospitalised when she was on anti-depressants and battling mental health issues.

The 35-year-old singer has been something of an open book about her experience with depression – most prominently writing about it in her book, OPEN: Why asking for help can save your life. On Friday’s edition of Loose Women, the former The Saturdays singer was on the panel to discuss a new statement from radio host Roman Kemp who revealed he had stopped taking anti-depressants after 16 years.

Roman had explained that he was getting to grips with his new experience of emotions, and noted that he wasn’t warning fans to take or stop taking medication. Frankie explained that she hit rock bottom when she was on medication herself.

Drawing on her own experience, the What About Us singer explained: “I started taking antidepressants when I was about 18 and I still ended up in hospital when I was about 21 with really bad depression and anxiety. It’s one of those things for me where they work to a degree in that I’m able to get out of bed in the morning and I’m able to come and work and be present with my friends and family.”

She explained that she has “Treatment-resistant depression so actually the antidepressants don’t really work.” She continued: “I’ve had like tests done and my body isn’t able to create seratonin or to keep it. So even if I’m taking antidepressants it’s almost counter productive. But because I’ve been on them for so long for now the fear of coming off them is really scary because I’m like would I end up back in hospital again?”

Frankie went on: “I’ve got children now, a husband. I’ve tried a lot of different ones and I’ve tried different combinations of different antidepressants and things like that. So now I’m constantly trying to think of different things to try so I’ve recently tried ketamine treatment which has been really effective for me but it’s really expensive, it’s not available for everyone.”

Frankie said: “That was a really big deal for me, that was really scary for me. I’ve taken myself off of antidepressants before and the side effects of coming off these things are brutal. I spent two weeks in bed, I felt awful. It’s a really good message to say to people that you can obviously give it a go if you feel ready but you have to do it with a doctor because it’s not that easy just to go right, I’ll stop.”

Earlier on Friday, Roman said in a statement that he shared via social media: “It has now been 4 months since I stopped taking anti-depressants and it’s safe to say they’re out of my system. Something I have taken since I was 15 years old. Now while I’m still learning about why I suddenly want to cry more and may get a bit snappier at my friends, I’m excited at the thought of understanding what the emotional side of me is really like.

“I’m neither for or against taking anti-depressants, I’m about what is right for YOU and if it helps you then go for it. They helped me through a long period of mental struggle in my life but I’m now ready to move on. Only posting this in case anyone was ever worried about starting/stopping.”

Katie Price shows off results of her £10k on facelift as she steps out with JJ Slater

Katie Price was snapped near the venue of her latest pantomime, walking arm-in-arm with boyfriend JJ Slater and showing off the results of the facial procedures she has endured in 2024

Katie Price has stepped out with boyfriend JJ Slater after undergoing her latest round of cosmetic surgery.

The 46-year-old mother-of-five has reportedly spent £10,000 on a facelift as she continues to turn to medical practices to attempt to fight off the effects of age. The star looked bruised earlier this year after she endured her latest facelift – the sixth procedure of its kind that she has undergone over the years.

On Friday, Katie and her 32-year-old former Married At First Sight star boyfriend looked stoic as they walked arm-in-arm in Northwich – where the OnlyFans content creator is set to appear in a pantomime production of Cinderella. With her hair tied up, Katie showed off her wrinkle-free face following her facelift in August – and weeks after she underwent another anti-wrinkle procedure.

The pair wore complementary tracksuit outfits from JJ’s fashion line, Fully Blessed, of which he holds the position of Director of Fashion. Katie sported an olive green tracksuit, while JJ opted for a simple black version. Katie had a handbag slung over her shoulder – while JJ clutched a handbag of his own under his arm.

They were spotted together hours after Katie was told off for her lack of professionalism in her panto rehearsals. The glamour model was reportedly caught vaping inside the venue as rehearsals got underway – and panto bosses are not happy with her behaviour. A source claimed: “Katie has been caught vaping inside the venue on a number of occasions already. She has been told not to, but doesn’t seem to be listening.”

Meanwhile, the source said that Kerry Katona, who is also taking part in the same panto, is also an avid vaper but she has been making sure to smoke outside – unlike Katie. “Kerry also vapes so they keep popping for breaks when they can – but Katie can’t resist a few cheeky puffs inside,” the source added.

Earlier this month, Katie and JJ visited a cosmetic surgery provider to have work done to soften the wrinkles on their faces. Informing fans of their procedure via an Instagram video, Katie said: “Here I am. I have had some anti-wrinkles done. Although I’ve had my face done, you still need, like, little bits of touch ups.” Pointing to the skin around the corners of her eyes, she went on to say: “I’ve just had all these done, so in a week I will show you them disappearing.”

She revealed JJ was also getting the same work done, declaring: “And I’ve also brought along JJ because it helps prevent wrinkles. There might be a filter on him, but we love a filter. Show them your gnashers?” She then turned to a slightly nervous looking JJ whose eyes kept darting to the side of the camera. The 31-year-old said: “All them wrinkles are gone, look.” Chastising him slightly, Katie said: “No, it takes about a week.” The reality star then goofily said: “Oh. It takes a week, and then they’ll be gone.”

Ant McPartlin ‘not surprised’ Jane Moore first out as she issues brutal swipe at I’m A Celeb camp

I’m A Celebrity host Ant McPartlin has said that he was ‘not surprised’ to discover that Loose Women panelist Jane Moore had become the first campmate voted out this year

Host Ant McPartlin has shared why he’s “not surprised” that journalist Jane Moore has become the first campmate to be voted off the new series of I’m A Celebrity this week.

It was announced at the end of Friday night’s episode that Loose Women panelist Jane, 62, had been voted out of camp by the public. She described her time in the jungle as “such a weird and magical experience” after leaving it.

Whilst discussing her departure, Jane appeared to take a swipe at some of her co-stars, with her saying: “Hard work doesn’t get rewarded.” The former contestant, who said in relation to chores that she “worked like a dog” whilst in camp, however would not name any particular campmates.

Discussing the result of the first vote, host Ant, 49, revealed on companion show I’m A Celebrity … Unpacked that he was not surprised that Jane left first. He suggested that she had “hit the nail on the head” in her own assessment.

Ant commented: “I’m not surprised because I think she kind of hit the nail on the head.” He then explained on the spin-off show: “If you work hard down there and do loads of chores, and just get things done … not a lot of that is seen.”

Co-host Dec Donnelly, 49, responded: “Sometimes you go under the radar a little bit.” Ant added: “Yeah, you do.” He continued by saying that fans are more interested in “entertaining chats” and bushtucker trials than chore footage.

Ant commented: “We’ve had that many times where people go ‘but I’ve done everything down there’ and you go ‘yeah, but we didn’t get a chance to see it because what the viewers want to see is entertaining chats and the trials, not necessarily somebody scrubbing pots every day.”

Earlier in the series, Ant suggested that some campmates weren’t getting the same amount of screen time as others. At the time, he encouraged fans to stop voting for Dean McCullough, 32, for trials to give other celebrities a chance to take part. Dean has taken part in the majority of trials so far.

After the campmate was confirmed for his sixth trial, Ant said in a message for viewers last week: “Right. Let’s all have a serious talk. I’m going to look directly into the camera here. I think it’s good to see other faces down there.”

Ant added: “This is not a personal thing. It’s not about Dean, it’s about us just seeing different people down there. And I think we want to see different people on the show being featured. Some people unfortunately aren’t getting [screen time].”
