David Beckham is sharing the secret behind his long-term relationship with wife Victoria Beckham.

While speaking on the upcoming May 20 episode of Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett’s SmartLess podcast, David, 49, spoke about his Netflix documentary Beckham, which gave fans a glimpse into the couple’s life and marriage.

The former soccer player said that one of the things he and Victoria “both get emotional about” is reflecting on going through some ups and downs in their relationship over the years.

“After watching the documentary, after everything was over and we watched it finally, that’s the one thing that we looked at each other and was like, ‘I don’t know how we got through the last 27 years, but we did and we have an amazing family, we have amazing businesses and we’re happy,’ ” Beckham told the hosts.

“Of course, when you’re with someone for that amount of time, of course you have your ups and downs, everybody knows that and at the end of the day we were lucky because we had each other at those moments,” he continued.

David and Victoria tied the knot in 1999 after meeting in 1997 at a soccer match. They now share four kids together: Sons Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19, and daughter Harper, 12.

Reflecting on their relationship, the Inter Miami CF co-owner recalled, “You know, she was a Spice Girl, I was playing for Manchester United, and even when we were going through the difficult times, we actually had each other to feed off and that was the best part.”

“Obviously we were 21 and 22 when we met. We got married when we was 23 and 24 and we had our first son when I was 23, so as soon as we had our first son, Brooklyn, that also added another layer to the family and our responsibilities then were to our son,” he added of them welcoming their eldest son Brooklyn on March 4, 1999, before they tied the knot on July 4 of that year.

“I’m so happy. I am very happy because I feel very blessed to have had the career that I’ve had and played for the teams that I have and experienced that,” Beckham — who has played for teams including Manchester United, Real Madrid and L.A. Galaxy over the years — said when asked whether he’s happy.

“And the one thing that I always wanted for me, I was lucky I met Victoria when I met her because I always wanted to have kids young,” he went on.

“I always wanted to have kids that lived through my career with me and I was lucky the three boys all lived through most of the teams that I played for and that, for me, was a really important part of my life,” Beckham continued.

The Beckhams regularly keep fans updated on their family life in interviews and on social media. To mark U.S. Mother’s Day on May 12, Victoria shared a wholesome family snap.

“Happy US Mother’s Day to all the mother figures out there!! I love you all so much @davidbeckham @brooklynpeltzbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven xxx,” the fashion designer wrote in the caption.

First he conquered football, then fragrance, then underwear, then whisky, razors and, well, a whole host of other ventures. Now, David Beckham is firmly setting his sights on fashion.

The former England captain has announced today a multi-year design collaboration with Hugo Boss, working together with their BOSS brand to forge new menswear lines.

The partnership was spearheaded by Hugo Boss CEO Daniel Grieder, who had never met Beckham before 2023, but watched the ‘Beckham’ Netflix documentary and knew instantly that he wanted to partner with the sportsman on a tailored clothing collection.

“David was always on the radar, but I didn’t know him personally, and until I saw the Netflix documentary, I wasn’t aware of all that he’d achieved in his life, all of the difficult times he went through, and how he stayed strong,” Grieder told WWD.

“The show changed my whole point of view, and I was convinced that we had to get him,” he added. “I said, ‘Listen, we don’t just want you as an ambassador, we want you in a partnership. We want you to be involved in the design, and to do a collection.’ Then we met again, and discussed what we could do together. He visited the company and was impressed.”

The multi-year deal will see Beckham “curate and design” multiple capsule and seasonal collections for BOSS over the coming seasons, with a focus on both formal and casual menswear.

David follows in the footsteps of his fashion-forward wife, Victoria Beckham (Victoria Beckham x Mango)

David follows in the footsteps of his fashion-forward wife, Victoria Beckham (Victoria Beckham x Mango)
The first collaboration is expected to be spring-summer 2025, with Beckham already working alongside the BOSS design team on the project. A first of its kind, the deal has been described as a “longterm partnership”, though no exact terms were disclosed.

It’s not Beckham’s first foray into fashion – he’s collaborated on bodywear collections for H&M and previously held a partnership with the brand Kent & Curwen. However, this came to an end in 2020 after the brand reported £18m worth of losses and ceased trading the following year.

With this design collaboration, David is set to follow in the footsteps of his high-fashion other half, Victoria, who recently pivoted her namesake label into profit and was described by the Financial Times as being “in a league of her own”.

Victoria recently launched her own collaboration with high street brand Mango, sparking queues outside the brand’s Oxford Street flagship store.

David Beckham said of the BOSS collaboration: “Over the last few years, I’ve been wanting to invest more time in design and fashion, but wanted to ensure I collaborated with a brand and team that could deliver something truly global and impactful. I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with BOSS so far and have been impressed by the team’s ambition, creativity, and desire for excellence.”

An expert has suggested Meghan Markle’s outfits in Nigeria could have broken royal protocols.

Meghan Markle dressed to impress during her visit to Nigeria with husband Prince Harry – but critics have suggested her bold outfit choices could have broken royal protocol.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in Nigeria to meet injured servicemen, key figures, and to attend a charity polo match.

Meghan’s outfit choices certainly made a splash with the former Suits actress spotted in a backless blush pink dress on her first day in Nigeria.

She also donned the stylish Carolina Herrera silk gown she wore when announcing her pregnancy with Princess Lilibet.

While her fashoin choices have been admired by many, one fashion expert believes they possibly bared too much skin, a move that would have gone against royal protocols.

Speaking to the Mirror, fashion guru Susie Nelson said: “As Meghan is no longer a working royal, and this was a private visit, she didn’t have to think about royal rules and protocol regarding her clothes.

“The blush pink Heidi Merrick dress would not have been seen on an official royal tour having an open back.

“A royal official would have taken note of Nigerian travel site suggestions that modesty in clothing is preferred. I believe Nigeria is predominantly a Muslim country.”

On Saturday, Meghan was spotted cheering as Harry played volleyball, donning a £2,275 striped sundress with a daring slit. Fashion commentator Susie opined: “The slit on the Johanna Ortiz dress would be too long for an official tour.”

During their visit, the Sussexes also met with Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff. Meghan chose a sharp white suit for the occasion, but Susie remarked that “some may think the trousers were too tight.”

However, Susie, the proprietor of Modes and More, commended Meghan for embracing vibrant hues.

After initially opting for subdued tones, Meghan made a statement in a vivid red dress at a Women In Leadership panel, where she shared: “It has been a whirlwind 24 hours since we arrived, and I very quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colour so I can fit in with all of you in your incredible fashion.”

The eye-catching dress, crafted by Nigerian designer Orire for under £230, was hailed as “ethically” made. Susie praised Meghan’s choice adding: “The wearing of bright colours was a good idea, Nigerian clothes are colourful and Megan wanted to be noticed.”

She continued: “The red dress was by a Nigerian brand Orire, a thoughtful choice.”

While Meghan faced some flak for her revealing ensembles, stylist Sarah Nearis argued that Duchess’ fashion choices were strategically savvy.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “From the moment they touched down, Meghan displayed her sense of style ranging from chic maxi dresses to perfectly fitted suits.

“While there is really no dress code in Nigeria, people have been asking if Meghan bared too much skin while attending multiple events or if she broke any of the formal dress codes that the royal family must follow.”

“I thought Meghan’s style for this trip was timeless, effortless and chic – and she usually doesn’t disappoint. One thing to note is that she was very much dressing for the temperatures in Nigeria which was were in the high 30’s (Celsius) and very humid. Maybe she could have added a scarf for a little more coverage, but I thought she was respectful and elegant.”

David Beckham spoke candidly about the summer of 1998 in the new Prime Video documentary 99, which follows Manchester United’s treble-winning season. That summer, he was public enemy number one in England following his dramatic sending-off at the World Cup.

England were dumped out of the tournament by Argentina after a penalty shootout in the first knockout round. With the score level at 2-2, Beckham kicked out at Argentina captain Diego Simeone, earning a red card. In the opening moments of 99, he explained how hard that summer was to take.

The first episode of 99 begins with Manchester United in a state of flux, still bruised from losing out to Arsenal for the Premier League title in 1998. But when the players returned to start training for the 1998-99 season, Beckham’s name was at the centre of a tabloid maelstrom.

“The biggest problem in that pre-season was that all the attention was on Becks,” said teammate Gary Neville in the doc.

Beckham then took over the story and said: “That summer after the World Cup was the toughest moment of my career. But I suppose the thing that I was worried most about was, could I continue to play for Man United?”

The 49-year-old star explained that manager Sir Alex Ferguson played a huge role in turning things around for Beckham and ensuring he was ready for the new season.

Beckham said: “The manager, he was the first person to call me after I’d been sent off. He just said: ‘Son, it’s going to be tough, but you get back to The Cliff training ground and don’t worry about anything else’.”

Fortunately, Beckham felt far more confident when he helped Manchester United to lift the Premier League trophy, providing six goals and 12 assists across the season. “It was that feeling of this is where I wanna be. This is my club. This is my team,” he said of the victory.

Of course, things got even better when Beckham also played a part in winning the FA Cup and Champions League for the historic treble, which wasn’t matched until Manchester City pulled off the feat in 2023. “I want that feeling again”, said Beckham as he reflected on that win. “I will never have that feeling again.”

He added: “I don’t think it will ever be done the way we did it. Three minutes to go in the Champions League final to do the treble. It was the dream.”

99 features brand new interviews with the biggest stars of that iconic season, including Ryan Giggs, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Gary Neville. The docuseries delves into the tensions between members of the squad, including a fight that broke out in the changing room between captain Roy Keane and striker Teddy Sheringham.

But the focus is mainly on the raucous celebrations that saw Sir Alex Ferguson cement himself as arguably Man United’s greatest manager, winning the Champions League on what would have been the 90th birthday of another United legend: Sir Matt Busby.

David Beckham cried when he got Man Utd No7 shirt as he, Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona reveal why it’s so special

DAVID BECKHAM has revealed that he cried when told he was going to be Manchester United’s No7.

The prestigious number has a rich history at Old Trafford, as Becks was fully aware having been brought up by a United-mad dad.

In a film produced by United and adidas explaining the importance of the shirt, Becks opened up about his emotional reaction.

He said: “I’d had probably one of the best seasons of my career in the number ten shirt.

“Phone rings, ‘David it’s the boss. We’re signing Teddy Sheringham and he’s going to have the number ten shirt – see you pre-season.’

“And that was it, that was it.”

“I go into pre-season, the boss pulls me into the office, he said ‘how are you feeling David?’

“And I said ‘well boss I really loved the number ten’. He said ‘yeah but you’re going to get the number seven.’

“And I was like… I think I cried. My dad was the first one that I phoned when I got the number seven shirt. My dad was a Bobby Charlton fan – that’s why my middle name is Robert… because (of) Bobby Charlton.”

Legendary United No7s Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bryan Robson also reflected on the shirt.

Cantona, 56, said: “It was a city for a number seven. The number seven is the one who can create things, who has to create things.

“Sometimes he needs to be free and Alex Ferguson gave me this freedom.”

Ronaldo added: “Sir Alex Ferguson said to me you’re going to take the number seven.

“It was that kind of moment that you never forget. I knew the history of the number seven in the club.

“I was nervous, but in the same time I was feeling good after an experienced manager, experienced person – he knew that Cristiano is the right guy to hold that shirt.”

On the origins of the shirt’s sparkle, Robson said: “The reputations of the players wearing the seven built up from George Best’s day.”

On a similar note, Cantona added: “George Best was special, I would have loved to play with him.”

Former Manchester United superstar David Beckham ‘morphing’ into Gordon Ramsay as he meets ‘the man’ Snoop Dogg

David Beckham’s Instagram followers were quick to point out the one new snap saw the star start to resemble one popular – but controversial – TV chef in a new transformation

David Beckham fans are convinced the footy ace is starting to look like TV chef Gordon Ramsay.

The hunky star took to Instagram to share a snap alongside rapper Snoop Dog in view of his 78 million followers, but fans couldn’t help but notice the striking similarity he bore to his celeb pal Gordon.

David was sharing an intimate snap with the rapper, revealing that the pair had just enjoyed a nice catch up.

David penned: “The Man was back in town last night @snoopdogg So good to see you man talking kids, grandkids & LA.”

But while fans were delighted to see such an A-List friendship blossom, many fans were distracted by David’s overall appearance, with many comparing him to the Hell’s Kitchen star.

“Thought that was Gordon Ramsey for a second,” said one fan, to which another replied: “They are morphing – must be the same hair dye and Botox injections.”

Another fan added: “DB looking more like Gordon Ramsey everyday.”

The world-renowned chef recently showed how close he is with his pal after he spoke up for Brooklyn Beckham, the 23-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham, after he was widely mocked for his recent career choice as a chef.

The 56-year-old celebrity chef said that Brooklyn was not responsible for the level of intrusion into his life, owing to his famous parents. “He didn’t ask to have famous parents, so it’s hard for him,” he told the MailOnline.

Despite the criticism, Brooklyn has been trying his hand at being a footballer, a photographer, and now a chef, but his recent tutorial on cooking a £300 joint of beef, which was labelled “raw”, drew flak.

However, Gordon Ramsay came to his defence, saying that “everyone needs to pipe down,” and the more chefs there are in the mix, the better.

“Brooklyn has grown up with my kids and is the son of dear friends of ours. I haven’t seen the video of his supposedly ‘raw’ beef,” he said.

“But even as a 12-year-old, whilst playing football, Brooklyn was always excited about food. So I’m pleased that he’s gone down that road and he’s found something he really enjoys doing.”

“It’s hard, isn’t it? Because he didn’t ask for that level of intrusion from having famous parents,” Ramsay continued.

“It probably came off a certain way, but it’s not his fault. So I have no issues against it. I’m excited. We have another chef joining the mix.”
