Man Utd and England hero David Beckham has reacted to his 20-year-old son Romeo joining Premier League side Brentford’s B team on loan from Inter Miami until the end of the season
David Beckham is “proud” of his son Romeo after he earned a move to Premier League side Brentford.
Romeo, 20, has joined Brentford B on loan from MLS club Inter Miami for the remainder of the season. The right-midfielder has trained with the Bees since the end of the 2022 MLS Next Pro season, where Inter Miami’s reserve side plays.
But he impressed enough to earn a short-term move to the English top flight – which marks a significant step up from playing for his dad’s club. And the Manchester United legend was full of praise on social media following the announcement on Friday.
David took to Instagram to share a picture of himself and Romeo holding up a Brentford shirt in front of the club’s performance centre.
He captioned it: “Exciting start to the year. Now the hard work and fun begins. Proud of you mate @romeobeckham.”
Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane also lauded the youngster by highlighting his technical ability and crossing – something which his father was famous for at United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
MacFarlane said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us. He came to us from Inter Miami with the aim of working with us during their close season.
“Romeo has applied himself unbelievably well, he’s really bought into the culture and the group which he has become a big part of.
“I love his standards and the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch. He’s been able to get fitter and fitter during his time with us and it leaves him in a good place to now step forward having joined us on loan.
“He is very technical, and he is somebody who can shift the ball quickly and cross. He is also a really good finisher and he has the ability to play a number of positions for us, which is also pleasing.”
Romeo and his brothers Brooklyn and Cruz were once all on Arsenal’s books. The midfielder was released in 2014, after which he took a five-year absence from the sport.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly took a photo showing the line of succession to heart.
Prince Harry was reportedly upset by this image of the late Queen, William, George and Charles (Image: PA Images/Ranald Mackechnie)
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were sent a message about the line of succession in a royal photo featuring King Charles, Prince William and Prince George, a royal author claimed.
The picture was issued in December 2019 and showed the late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles, who was then Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince George.
It caused some controversy, according to author Robert Lacey, who in his book Battle of Brothers claimed the snap was Charles’s idea and designed to show the then future monarch’s ambition for a slimmed down monarchy.
Mr Lacey, writing for the Daily Mail, described the image as “fascinating” and “historic”, reminding viewers of the “essence of the royal system”.
He added: “The (then) current monarch with three future monarchs. All the living heirs – and not a suggestion of a ‘spare’.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the photo ‘to heart’, Robert Lacey has claimed (Image: Getty)
The photo shows Elizabeth II standing between Prince William and Prince Charles, whose right hand rests on Prince George’s shoulder.
Mr Lacey, citing palace insiders, said the photo was taken in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace a week before Christmas and Charles’s idea.
He added palace sources “let it be known” the plan to depict the direct line of royal succession was “enthusiastically supported” by William, which, according to Mr Lacey, “might be seen as sending his younger brother a message”.
The author claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took the photo “to heart”, though other experts have said the decision probably wasn’t meant to upset the pair, but shows how the monarchy works.
ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship said the portrait was released to mark the start of the decade.

He said: “It was the Queen and the three future kings – and there was also a bit of video of them stirring Christmas puddings.
“I’m not saying they were cutting Harry and Meghan out because it was a brutal fact that Harry was never part of that line of succession.”
Mr Ship argued that with the image it felt as if the Royal Family was focusing on the future, with the Queen and her three heirs.
Succession to the throne in Britain is regulated through descent and Parliamentary statute. Prince William is next in line to the throne, followed by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne, while his son Prince Archie is sixth in line, and daughter Princess Lilibet is seventh.
Kensington Palace has been approached for comment.
Relations between Prince Harry and King Charles have severely deteriorated ever since the Duke of Sussex stepped away from the Royal Family in 2020.
Prince Harry was “deeply shocked” at King Charles’s “blunt refusal to see him even for a moment” when he was in the UK last week – and found it particularly painful as “everyone knows the real reason”, a royal author claimed.
There had been hopes of a heartwarming father and son reunion during the Duke of Sussex’s visit to London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
But Harry’s team released a statement early last week to say the meeting would not be taking place due to “His Majesty’s full program”, adding: “The duke, of course, is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
Royal Family author Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “He was deeply shocked at his father’s blunt refusal to see him even for a moment.
“This time the rejection was particularly painful because it was so public – Harry may have issued a statement saying he completely understood why his father didn’t have time to see him, but everyone knows the real reason had nothing to do with busy schedules.”
Queen Camilla sends two subtle signals as she wears unusual design on visit
Queen Camilla has proven once again that the Royal Family enjoys sending subtle messages through their unique outfit choices.
Shrugging off the rain and greeting waving crowds in Rye for a solo engagement, Camilla donned her best dress and attended an event celebrating literature in Sussex on May 16.
Fashion stylist, Danielle Rogers-Clark of Give Good Dress, was among the crowds who greeted Camilla as she took centre stage for her royal visit greeting fans from around the world.
For the occasion, Her Majesty chose to wear a long, flattering, greenish blue shirt dress with demure sleeves and a tie front.
The striking dress was made with Liberty Green Peacock Manor Silk.

Meghan Markle’s ‘sunny’ outfit shows new milestone underway for the Sussexes
Meghan Markle is known for wearing neutral colours, but when she was in Nigeria, she adapted to her surroundings, and opted for bold, vibrant attire.
On day two of the three-day visit, Meghan sat down with Arise News. She said: “It has been a whirlwind 24 hours since we arrived, and I very quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colour so I can fit in with you and your fashion.
Journalist Jack Royston appeared on this week’s Royal Report saying the Sussexes are coming out of their “dark period” and entering a “new bold, happy positive era,” and Meghan’s “sunny” clothing choices help illustrate the transition.

Meghan Markle hit the dance floor while in Nigeria and her fans are showing their appreciation over on TikTok.
Prince Harry and Meghan were in Nigeria for three days promoting the Invictus Games. The royal couple were invited by the country’s chief defence minister, as the nation is considering hosting the games down the road.
While the visit was jam-packed with events to promote the games and the wounded soldiers it supports, there was time for Meghan to let her hair down and do a little shimmy on the dance floor on the second night in Nigeria at a reception hosted in Abuja, the country’s capital.

Prince Harry ‘may never be forgiven’ after he broke an ‘unspoken contract with Brits’
Prince Harry “broke an unspoken contract with the British people” when he and his wife Meghan Markle left the UK for a new life in California, a royal commentator has claimed.
In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working members of the Royal Family before moving to the US. A year later in March 2021, they made several bombshell claims against the royals in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Now, a long-standing critic of the couple has claimed Harry will continue to suffer a severe backlash from his fellow Brits for his part in the move – which was dubbed ‘Megxit’.
Daniela Elser said: “For years on end, Brits were entranced by the outwardly chirpy chap who appeared to have made peace with his royal identity.”
“Then came the third act in the Harry story, the part where he turned on his heel and decided he wanted a different life, far, far away from grey skies and stiff upper lips.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Nigeria trip ‘sends key message to Palace’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Nigeria visit sent a message to the Royal Family about what a “half in, half out” Megxit deal could have looked like, a royal commentator has suggested.
Matt Wilkinson, royal editor of The Sun, told podcast, Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, there is a sense the public knows the three day Nigeria visit wasn’t an official royal tour.
He said: “I think the Sussexes would have wanted to have done tours like this if they had stayed. That would have been their aim. They would have liked to have gone away on their own terms to a Commonwealth country and maybe [the trip to Nigeria] was them sending a message back to the Royal Family, saying, ‘Look what we could have done if we had got that half in, half out deal. We can go to these countries, draw a crowd, be popular and represent the UK’.
“They weren’t representing the UK, the Government or Royal Family or any British causes. They were just representing themselves.”

King Charles ‘angrier than anyone has ever seen him’ after Meghan Markle’s ‘rogue move’
King Charles was “angrier than anyone has ever seen him” after seeing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Nigeria visit last week, claims a royal expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex infamously stepped down as senior working royals at the start of 2020, with Harry even stripped of several royal roles. The couple visited Nigeria last week – by invitation of the Nigerian military – as part of Harry’s Invictus Games and have been accused of treating the visit like a royal tour.
Speaking to the Mirror, royal author Tom Quinn said: “William is absolutely furious and determined to find a way to stop this happening in future. Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him.”
He added: “What’s really upset the applecart is the fact that the Nigerians treated Meghan and Harry as if they too thought this was an official tour – all the signs were there as the couple were greeted with dances, receptions, visits to schools and charities.”

King Charles urged to stop Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest ‘dangerous’ move
King Charles has been urged to step in after fears were raised over the safety of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s unofficial ‘royal tours’.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid a visit to the West African country last week for a three-day trip full of engagements, conducted in a very similar style to tours they took as working royals.
But the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden spoke out about the potential diplomatic risks that come with the couple making these trips on their own times.
He told Palace Confidential this week: “Harry made a comment about this [trip], it could be the first of many…I’ve been hearing mutterings in diplomatic circles here that there is great concern about this.
“It’s very dangerous. You’ve got Harry and Meghan potentially visiting countries without that control that we have, any trips by royals are organised by the Foreign Office.”

Meghan Markle’s secret nod to Prince Harry days before special anniversary in new video
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined forces with Save the Children during their visit to Nigeria, with the Duchess of Sussex paying a special tribute to their wedding day.
The pair were in the African nation to champion the Invictus Games and participated in several charitable endeavours while there.
It has now emerged that the Sussexes met with Nigerian charity workers from Save the Children, with the organisation posting a video of the encounter on Instagram.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were all smiles as they were introduced to young ambassadors. Meghan was spotted wearing an elegant white halter neck top, reminiscent of her wedding reception attire.
On her wedding day, Meghan donned a simple white Givenchy dress before changing into a custom Stella McCartney gown for the evening reception. She chose a similar ensemble for her meeting with Save the Children, opting for a sleeveless white top.
The Duchess completed her outfit with relaxed grey trousers and striking gold earrings. Meanwhile, Prince Harry appeared at ease in a smart blue shirt with the top button undone, reports the Mirror.

King Charles ‘won’t be rolling out red carpet’ to reconcile with Prince Harry
King Charles “won’t roll the red carpet out” for a reconciliation with Prince Harry as the monarch is focused on one “absolute priority”, it has been claimed.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, they said: “William wouldn’t dream of telling his father what he can or can’t do in relation to his other son.
“But what is true is that Charles’s absolute priority is the unity of the monarchy, and given the extent of William’s animosity to Harry, Charles can hardly roll out the red carpet and invite Harry and the kids to stay at Balmoral for the summer holidays—however much he would like to.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘desperate’ as major bombshell looms
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “desperate” attempt to leave the past behind them could be threatened by a bombshell new German documentary.
Experienced royal reporter Ulrike Grunewald and her team have travelled to Montecito in California, where the Sussexes live, to speak to their neighbours and get an inside glimpse into their personal lives.
An insider told OK! magazine: “There are many things that both of them, especially Meghan, don’t necessarily want in the public domain.
“It’s no secret that they both led colourful lives before they met each other, and while Harry has spoken about a lot of mistakes in his book, there are still things about Meghan we don’t know.
“It could also delve deeper into her fall-out with Kate and challenge the Sussex camp narrative that it was all Kate’s fault.
“But Harry and Meghan are now desperate to leave everything in the past as they want to start afresh, and I think Harry will fear that their new happiness could be ruined if Meghan’s past is investigated.”

Prince Harry could return to UK without Meghan Markle for heartbreaking reason
Prince Archie is said to be “desperate” to join his father Prince Harry on a trip to the UK soon because he wants to see his grandad King Charles – but neither of his parents are keen to encourage this, according to a source.
In 2020, Meghan Markle and Harry stepped down as senior working members of the Royal Family, relocating to the US and eventually settling in Montecito. They welcomed their daughter Princess Lilibet in 2021.
But there are fears that as their children grow older, they will start to become more curious about their extended British family as the Sussexes have limited contact with the royals.
One royal expert claimed even if Harry does return to the UK to visit his father with his children, it is unlikely Meghan will join them.

Prince Harry ‘upset’ as he’s pictured in LA after putting on brave face during UK visit
Prince Harry seemed to be “downcast in LA” after putting on a brave face for his visit to the UK last week, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke, along with his wife Meghan Markle, were spotted at the airport in Los Angeles on Monday, arriving home after an 18-hour flight from Nigeria.
Meghan was pictured walking ahead of her husband as they left the airport. Harry, on the other hand, was walking behind looking rather downcast – something Tom Quinn suggested could be linked to his recent UK visit.
The Duke of Sussex is said to have hoped that he could have met with his father King Charles during his visit to the UK, but the monarch posed a busy schedule during his short visit.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly left King Charles and Prince William furious when they saw coverage of their trip to Nigeria.

Explaining further about the actual visit being compared to a royal tour, Mr Quinn added: “Everything you might expect from an official Royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled.
“Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals and William and his father King Charles don’t like it one bit.”
The couple touched back down in the US on Monday. Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2, are said to have been staying with thier maternal grandmother, Doria Ragland while their parents were in Nigeria.

Prince Harry has been described as “needy and clingy” after the couple attended a gala fundraising dinner where they met with monarchs from four different Nigerian states.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have finished up their trip to Nigeria, where they discussed the Invictus Games and shared positive messages surrounding mental health, with a dinner hosted by Nigeria Unconquered.
During a speech at the event, Harry was seen kissing Meghan on the head, with body language expert Judi James deeming him “rather needy”.
Speaking to the Mirror Judi said: “Harry was looking rather needy on this particular outing, clinging to Meghan’s hand until she had to lift it from the clasp get him to move ahead, then re-clasping his hand in her other hand straight away and here he is still seeming to want to register his affection for her as she is flattered and feted by their hosts.”
The Royal couple met with the Olu Of Warri, HRM Eberechukwu Oji, the Obi of Onitsha, and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi of Osun State.

They presented Harry and Meghan with Aso Oke – a hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people – and the coral beads they were wearing.
A video clip shared on social media showed one of the kings complimenting Meghan, with Harry responding by rubbing her arm and giving her a kiss.
Judi added: “Meghan touches the host in gratitude at this moment then turns to Harry, turning to the front again before him. He offers some reassurance and affection by rubbing her right arm but then he seems to want to accelerate to PDA, kissing her on the side of her head.
“This bestowed but rather sweet kiss suggests he wants to pile in on the flattery, praise and glory that his wife is getting here, agreeing with the hosts as they refer to her beauty etc.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hinted that more imitation royal tours are on the way, following their recent trip to Nigeria.
Leaving Abuja on Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived back in California having spent three-days visiting Nigeria – in what has been dubbed a “quasi royal tour”.
In a press release posted on their Sussex.com website, Meghan and Harry hailed their time in Nigeria as “unforgettable” – a visit that came from the military’s invitation.
Alongside a photograph of the couple in Nigeria, their statement read: “The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organisers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.”
Appearing to hint that further royal tour-style trips are in the works, the couple gave a telling six-word statement, describing Nigeria as “the first of many memorable trips”.

Harry and Meghan have been accused of treating their recent visit to Nigeria like a “royal tour”, with some similarities showing between the two.
During their trip, the couple attended events related to Harry’s Invictus Games, which Nigeria is hoping to host in the future.
Meghan and Harry were welcomed at the Lagos State Government House, and were greeted by military officials at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Taking a solo trip away from her husband, Meghan also co-hosted an event on women in leadership in the Nigerian capital of Abuja on May 11.

As the pair head back to the US, they will undoubtedly be excited to reunite with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, two.
Whilst they were in Nigeria, Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland was thought to be looking after her grandchildren, as reported by the Mail.
Meghan addressed the Nigerian crowds with an emotional message as she mentioned her children during a touching speech.
During the visit that coincided with Mother’s Day in America, the mother-of-two admitted that they were “missing” Archie – who celebrated his fifth birthday last week – and Lilibet.

Speaking to the crowd, Meghan said: “It feels appropriate that although of course we are missing our children, I’m missing my babies, it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family.”
Meghan also gave rare updates on their rarely-seen children during the trip, sharing how becoming a mother was always “a dream of mine”.
At a panel on women’s leadership, Meghan shared: “Being a mom has always been a dream of mine and I’m so fortunate that we have two beautiful, healthy, very chatty, sweet children. I love being a mom.”
Meghan Markle reportedly fears her son Archie will grow up to idealise his British roots and she doesn’t want the UK to become his ‘longed-for fantasy.

Meghan Markle reportedly fears the UK will become a “longed-for fantasy” her son, Prince Archie.
The Duchess of Sussex is concerned her son – who is said to “love the idea that his grandad lives in a castle” – to romanticise his British heritage, says a royal expert.
In 2020, Meghan and Harry relocated to the United States with their son, stepping away from their senior royal duties. They welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in their new homeland the following year.
Now living in the affluent Montecito neighbourhood within their £11m mansion, the Sussexes are raising their two children away from the limelight. However, there are reports that Meghan fears Archie’s birthplace might become an object of fascination for him.
King Charles is desperate to show he cares (Image: Anadolu via Getty Images)
Royal author and commentator Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “Archie loves the idea that his grandad lives in a castle and Meghan was worried that a magnificent shepherd’s hut or similar extravagant present will only increase Archie’s growing interest in his royal connections.
“She doesn’t want Britain to become a longed-for fantasy for her son so she had been pushing Harry to insist that his father get Archie a simple present.
“But Charles is desperate to show he cares and he wants to be an indulgent grandparent, partly because he has mellowed over the years .

“King Charles hasn’t seen his grandson Archie since 2022 and Archie really misses him – many of Archie’s books are about kings, princesses and castles and he knows enough to know that his grandfather lives in a castle.”
This follows the Sussexes’ recent 72-hour whirlwind tour of Nigeria.
During their visit to the West African nation, Meghan, who has Nigerian ancestry, was bestowed with the title of Ada Mazi, translating to “daughter of an aristocrat”, a mark of respect from the Ancient Arochukwu Kingdom.
The five-year-old prince is ‘aware’ that his grandfather, King Charles, lives in a castle and ‘wants to accompany Prince Harry to the UK’, an expert said.

A young Prince Archie is “desperate” to be reunited with his grandfather, King Charles, back in Britain, an expert has claimed. Since stepping down from their senior roles and moving across the pond, Prince Harry and Meghan have been raising Prince Archie, five, and their daughter, Princess Lilibet, two, in the lavish neighbourhood of Montecito, California.
Royal author and expert, Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “King Charles hasn’t seen his grandson Archie since 2022 and Archie really misses him – many of Archie’s books are about kings, princesses and castles and he knows enough to know that his grandfather lives in a castle.”
He added: “He is apparently desperate to come to the UK with his father, but Meghan and Harry don’t want to encourage this.”
The royal author went on to explain that the royal duo is afraid the UK will become a “longed-for-fantasy” for the young Prince who might “love the idea” that his grandfather lives in a castle.

Prince Archie celebrated his fifth birthday this month on May 6, and was born at London’s Portland Hospital in 2019 before moving to the US the following year.
Meghan and Harry have made very few public appearances with their children since their move to the US, but have delighted fans with some personal pictures and footage of Archie and his younger sister, Lilibet, in their Netflix series in 2022.
Two days after his birth, the couple showed off their newborn to the world in a photocall at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle. The proud parents, cradling baby Archie, spoke movingly of their “little bundle of joy”.
Shortly after Archie’s fifth birthday this year, Harry and Meghan completed a 72-hour whirlwind tour of Nigeria. During their visit to the West African nation, Meghan, who has Nigerian ancestry, was bestowed with the title of Ada Mazi, translating to “daughter of an aristocrat”, a mark of respect from the Ancient Arochukwu Kingdom.

Meghan mentioned she was missing her children on Mother’s Day (Image: Getty)
Last year, Nigeria became the first African country to take part in the Invictus Games, a sporting competition for wounded military personnel and veterans, co-founded by Prince Harry in 2014.
The couple were in Nigeria to continue the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games and they were invited to the West African nation by its military, with their three-day visit intended to promote mental health for soldiers and empower young people.
The visit coincided with Mother’s Day in America – in which the Duchess would not have been present for in California to be with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Addressing her audience, she said the pair were missing their children.
She told the crowds: “It feels appropriate that although of course we are missing our children, I’m missing my babies, it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family.”
Prince Harry also spoke at the gathering and said: “Thank you for welcoming my wife and myself to Nigeria. It’s our first visit. It certainly won’t be our last. Thank you for the naming ceremony. I don’t know how I got dragged into that as well, but to be able to witness it as well next to my wife, it means a huge amount to both of us but especially her, so thank you for that.”
AFTER decades of training hard and watching what they eat – and drink – it must be tempting for footballers to hit McDonald’s and the off licence after hanging up their boots.
But this lot have proven it is possible to avoid the temptation of making up for lost time at the takeaway.

From David Beckham to Paolo Maldini, check out the former football stars who maintained their elite physiques when their career was long-gone…
DAVID BECKHAM
BELIEVE it or not, Golden Balls retired from football with his swansong spell at Paris Saint-Germain SEVEN years ago.
Despite that, Becks, 47, has kept a footballer’s frame.
Now owner of MLS side Inter Miami and a part-owner of Salford City alongside his Class of 92 pals, Beckham is still very much involved in football.
Beckham is still a very marketable name too, regularly popping up in adverts an even movies, including a role in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in 2015.
PAOLO MALDINI

NOW aged 54, Maldini is still in tip-top shape.
The AC Milan legend spent his whole career at the San Siro and is arguably the best defender of all time.
But despite retiring in 2009, Maldini has kept fit by turning his hand to professional tennis, competing at the Aspria Tennis Cup in Milan in 2017.
Maldini is now back at AC Milan, working as technical director.
