Prince Harry and Meghan take very different parenting approach to Prince William and Kate

It is claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have mostly opted to keep childcare within the family as Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland helps out where she can.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to keep childcare within the family mostly, with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland helping care for Prince Archie five, and Princess Lilibet, two, – however, this differs from how Prince William and Princess Kate’s children are being raised.

The Prince and Princess of Wales rely heavily on their Spanish nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, from the prestigious Norland Agency to look after their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

Maria joined the family in 2014 when Prince George was just a tot at eight months old and today she still works for the family and is said to be an important support for Kate while she recovers from cancer at home, despite both parents also being “hands-on” with family life.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, a source explained: “The Wales family have taken a very different approach. But it must be noted that before Kate’s illness, the Wales family worked extremely hard. The children also live at home with their parents.”

At first, the Sussexes had hired a paediatric nurse and consultant, to care for Prince Archie shortly after he was born. At the time, the family was living at Frogmore Cottage before announcing their decision to step down from their roles as working royals in 2020 and eventually relocate to the United States.

It was also reported that Meghan and Harry were forced to dismiss a night nanny after an unsettling incident with Archie, which made them wary of subsequent hires. This incident, detailed in Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s biography “Finding Freedom,” described how the couple had to let the nurse go on her second night after reportedly being “unprofessional and irresponsible.”

Consequently, it was reported they decided to handle night duties themselves while employing a day nanny who worked weekdays.

Earlier this year, Express.co.uk revealed that Doria stepped up to help her daughter and son-in-law by moving to Montecito, where the family now live. The source said: “Meghan feels much more comfortable with the children under her mother’s watchful eye and Harry was very keen to keep it [childcare] in the family.”

They added: “Both Harry and Meghan are extremely protective of their children and only stop worrying about them if Doria is in charge whenever they are away.”

With regards to William and Kate, the royal couple are known for being “hands-on” however, a nanny can help alleviate the pressures that come with hectic work schedules, lifestyles, or circumstances – especially given that Princess Kate is recovering from her cancer diagnosis.

According to Daily Mail’s FEMAIL, newly qualified nannies can earn up to £42,000 for a non-residential role while some earn up to an eye-watering £120,000 after a few years’ experience.

The royal children’s nanny, Maria, who trained at the famous Norland College in Bath, appears to have settled well into royal life and the famous college where she studied is widely considered to be one of the best institutions in the world.

The subjects that are taught at the school have previously been described as a mix between ‘Mary Poppins and James Bond’ as students are taught a variety of skills including self-defence, martial arts and even getaway driving.

ROYAL fans could soon be seeing a lot more of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, according to a royal expert.

Typically Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have tried to maintain a level of privacy around their five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are waiting for the right moment to introduce their children to the world, claims a royal expert.

Recently, the couple travelled to Nigeria for what was dubbed an “unofficial royal tour”, and royal fans have been left hopeful they could include Archie and Lilibet on future tours.

Royal author Tom Quinn told the Mirror: “Harry and Meghan are incredibly proud of their children, and when they are a little older and better able to travel, there is no doubt they will be taken on some of the couple’s tours.

“Meghan is acutely aware of what a great look this will be, the charming royal couple with their charming royal children will attract the sort of publicity that Harry and Meghan crave, especially now that they are so determined to be billionaire entrepreneurs.”

Tom added that Meghan recognises the positive impact Archie and Lilibet could have on their public image and “Sussex brand.”

However, during the three-day Nigerian visit, the children remained in California.

This comes as Meghan is said to be facing some “challenges” when it comes to the success of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Brand strategist Lucie Green believes Meghan will have to decide whether to make her products expensive or accessible, and she’ll have to be careful about any royal references.

Speaking to Fabulous, Lucie shared: “Positioning will be a tightrope, whether to go very high-end and exclusive or make the brand more accessible.

“How much she (even obliquely) makes royal references will always draw criticism but dialling that up will likely be appealing to many US audiences, just as Aerin Lauder and Martha Stewart make upper-class references in their brands but have wide audiences.”

Prince Harry hinted at future trips similar to their Nigeria visit during the overseas tour, saying to PEOPLE: “It is hugely important for us to meet directly with people, supporting our causes and listening, in order to bring about solutions, support and positive change.

“There’s only so much one can do from home and over Zoom, so we look forward to travelling more because the work matters.

“Whether it’s the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to meet the people at the heart of our work.”

Harry is said to be keen to keep the children away from cameras, while Meghan is more relaxed about the world seeing them.

The children’s appearances are rare and they have been seen only in official photographs and in fleeting moments on the previous Harry & Meghan Netflix show.

The Duke and Duchess — who stepped back from working royal life in 2020 — are understood to have ended their public attacks after the tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview and the fly-on-the-wall series sparked criticism.

Meanwhile, royal fans have seen Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, at a number of royal events over the past few years, including the Jubilee and Coronation celebrations.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stage manage everything to suit them, including Archie’s BIRTH, expert says

THE ANNOUNCEMENT of Archie’s birth was “stage managed to suit Harry and Meghan”, according to a royal expert.

Speaking to The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, photographer Arthur Edwards MBE said that he remembers getting excellent pictures after the births of several other royal babies.

But he told the programme’s host Matt Wilkinson that on the big day in May 2019, the media were “led to believe” that Meghan had gone into labour at two o’clock when in fact the child had already been born.

He said: “When the baby was born, when Archie was born, that was another, in my view, disaster – I knew we were not going to get a picture of [Archie].

“Everybody was hoping we would get pictures.

“I mean obviously when William was born and Harry was born and George and Charlotte and Louis, we got great pictures outside the hospital, I remember.

“And William and Catherine especially, they made such an effort to show the whole world their new baby.

“Harry’s baby Archie was almost teething before we found out he was born, you know.

“We were led to believe that she had gone into labour at two o’clock, when the baby had been born many hours earlier.

“We were led to believe it was going to be a home birth and it was in a hospital.

“The whole thing was just stage managed to suit them.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their son in May 2019 – just a year after tying the knot in their whirlwind romance.

Meghan had initially wanted to give birth to Archie at Frogmore Cottage while attended by an all-female midwife team.

But she was forced to go to London’s private Portland Hospital to deliver the child, who weighed 7lb 3oz when he arrived on May 6 2019.

Harry and Meghan announced the name of their first child as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The biography Finding Freedom revealed how the couple shared the news with the delighted Royal Family – naturally telling Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip first.

The explosive book, which was released in 2020, then claimed the proud new parents shared the news with Harry’s dad Prince Charles and brother Prince William – sending a photograph of the little boy who became the seventh-in-line to the throne.

Delighted Meghan and Harry then sent a message to the special cousins-only royal WhatsApp group to spread news of baby Archie’s birth.

But the biography claimed Meghan did not tell her estranged dad Thomas Markle.

    Archie’s birth and the announcement

Meghan initially wanted to give birth to Archie at Frogmore Cottage while attended by an all-female midwife team.

But her dreams of a home birth were dashed as she was forced to go to London’s private Portland Hospital to deliver the tot, who weighed 7lb 3oz when he arrived on May 6 2019.

A source told Page Six: “Meghan’s plan was to have a home birth with Archie, but you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

“In the end, her doctors advised her to go to hospital and all she was interested in was about delivering Archie safely.”

Harry and Meghan didn’t want to announce where or when Archie was born, but agreed to a photo call in the grounds of Windsor Castle after his birth.

Queen Elizabeth II also wanted to officially announce Archie’s arrival with a note displayed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace as a mark of her affection.

Beaming Harry told the press: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we’re both absolutely thrilled.

“We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”

Harry and Meghan announced the name of their first child as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Archie, short for Archibald, is a name of German origin and means “bold or brave”. Harrison is of English origin — and means “son of Harry”.

The hyphenated surname Mountbatten-Windsor is in keeping with a royal tradition established by the Queen to differentiate her direct descendants from the rest of the House of Windsor.

But the choice of Archie Harrison surprised royal watchers, with some hoping Harry would include Spencer as a nod to mum Princess Diana’s maiden name.

Baby Archie’s birth has widely been reported to be one of the reasons the couple left the Royal Family – with Harry and Meghan wanting to protect their son from the scrutiny and give him a normal life.

Even while they were part of the Firm, Meghan made sure Archie’s christening on July 6 2019 was a “completely private affair” at the Queen’s Chapel in Windsor Castle attended by just 22 guests.

While she came under attack for breaking tradition and not allowing the media or the public a glimpse of baby Archie on his special day, Meghan didn’t care, according to the authors of Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

Instead, it claimed Meghan asked her mum Doria Ragland to message her 76-year-old dad with the news of his grandson.

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand then reported that the duchess asked her mother not to tell her if her dad, who lives in the US, replied.

Mr Edwards added that he was not staying in Windsor at the time.

He said: “There was a Royal tour to Germany with the King and Queen and I went with them and couldn’t get away from Windsor quick enough.

“I remember showing Camilla in, I think Munich, the first pictures of Archie that were taken by the Press Association, showing her on my phone.

“And that was the first time she saw him, you know, so it was difficult times.

“I have to say though, you know, that first year, Meghan, that working with her on the road, I mean, you know we went all over the country, she was incredible.

“I was saying I thought she was a great asset to the family.

“I kept asking the Palace if we could have a meeting with her – you know, people who cover the Royals, to have a meeting with Meghan like we did with Catherine.

“And you know, introduce ourselves and let her get to know who’s writing about her photographing her.

“And I was assured it was going to happen but it never did.

“And then pretty soon she’d made her mind up that they were going, and that was it.”

Mr Edwards also mentioned the interview the pair did with Oprah Winfrey, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a series of shocking allegations.

The pair sparked a race row by alleging an unnamed member of the Royal Family spoke about “how dark his (Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born”.

During the Oprah interview, Meghan also said she was prevented from seeking mental health support when she was in crisis.

Mr Edwards said: “I knew that the Queen would be seething, I knew that the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles would be seething, it would be so unfair because one thing they are not is racists. They are not.

“I’ve been with the King all over Africa, all over South America, I’ve never seen – only just engaging and enjoying the company of these people.

“So, you know, in no way would he be like that. He’s just a – it’s just an unfair thing to say.

Loose Women descended into chaos on Wednesday as the show was full of surprises.

During the latest instalment, the hit ITV chat show celebrated the 40th anniversary of Cilla Black’s hit show, Surprise Surprise, which first aired in May 1984. As such, the hour-long show had plenty of surprises in store for the panellists, audience and viewers at home. Throughout the episode, host Christine Lampard revealed that a former Loose Women star would be surprising everyone on air with some news and kept dropping hints – with Andrea McLean eventually revealed.

Prior to this, Christine, 45, had plenty of surprises in store for her co-stars Brenda Edwards, Judi Love and Nadia Sawalha. At first, Brenda, 55, was surprised by her daughter Tanisha live on air, which reduced the presenter to tears over the sweet surprise especially when Tanisha kept praising how “great” and “inspirational” her mum is, adding: “She’s literally like the best mum” before jokingly adding: “Don’t cry!” as Brenda was left sobbing over the reveal.

Next up, Judi, 43, was surprised as her best friend, Francesca, appeared via video as she said: “I’m so proud of you”, adding she always knew even from school she would go far and be famous. Ending the video, she said: “I just want to remind you, your mum and your dad are definitely looking over you, beaming with joy and pride, especially over how much of an amazing mother you are. I love you, see you soon and take care.” Judi broke down in tears over the sweet message, wiping away tears, with her co-stars also visibly emotional.

Last up, it was Nadia’s, 59, turn for a surprise as she spoke about her friendship group before they appeared live in the studio. Nadia was left in tears over the surprise before dropping a hilarious swear word, where she had to apologise for the blunder. Recalling how they met and their friendship, Nadia then revealed her nickname for one of her friends as she said: “It’s so weird the way you keep calling her Helen because we only call her t**s!”

This resulted in loud gasps in the studio as Nadia suddenly realised her error as she covered her mouth in shock while her amused friends added: “You can’t say that, you’re going to be in trouble!” as they all apologised.

Eamonn Holmes’ wife Ruth Langsford has told of her fears that he “might never be 100 per cent right” after suffering chronic back pain for almost two years.

The Loose Women presenter, 64, has been married to Eamonn for 14 years. And speaking about his back problems and ongoing daily physio sessions, Ruth said: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.

“He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.”

Speaking in Woman’s Weekly about the importance of good health and ageing, she added: “I look at Eamonn, who’s had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.

On Friday the Mirror told how TV legend Eamonn is taking part in painful physio sessions almost every day in a bid to get fully back on his feet. He had operations on his back to help with bulging discs but then faced a setback when he fell and broke his shoulder last year.

New photos showed him in London’s Notting Hill on two sticks and later in a wheelchair after another tough session.

A source close to 64-year-old Eamonn told the Mirror: “Eamonn has been using walking aids for around 18 months now so not much has changed unfortunately. He is doing everything he can but the lack of progress from the physio has obviously been a bit frustrating. But he continues to have physio sessions pretty much every day and continues to work hard in his rehabilitation.

“He is in pain a lot of the time and so that is not fun at all but he keeps going and he is loving his work still and he is a journalist at heart.”

Despite his daily pain, Eamonn continues in his job and thankfully sits down when working for GB News Mondays-Wednesdays which makes life easier.

Eamonnn himself has voiced fears in the past about how much of a recovery he can make. Speaking in January the presenter said the “harsh reality” could be that he may never be able to walk alone again unaided.

Discussing his woes, he said: “It’s as if somebody up there is playing with my life. In the past year I’ve had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I’ve fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up.”

    Ruth and Eamonn
Ruth has said ‘things aren’t easy’

He added: “I have tried every treatment, but you go, ‘Maybe I’ll never get out of it,’ which is a harsh reality to face.”

Despite everything his relationship with Ruth continues to be strong and she helps him as much as she can. The couple first met in 1997 when they were introduced by mutual friends and they then dated for over a decade before Eamonn popped the question and they married in 2010.

Asked for the secret of their relationship, Ruth said: “I think always respect, mutual respect. And we laugh a lot. I think love and lust and everything’s wonderful at the start of a relationship. But really…you’ve got to have that connection as friends where you feel comfortable with each other.”

Ruth Langsford’s lonely tears over family update – ‘I feel like my heart has been ripped out’

Ruth Langsford broke down in tears as she spoke about her fears for being left alone just months before her split with husband Eamonn Holmes was announced.

Today it was revealed the couple, who previously presented This Morning together and have been together for more than a decade, have parted ways. A statement read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

It comes after Ruth became extremely emotional while speaking about her seemingly close-knit family in December. The Loose Women star, 64, said she felt as though “part of my heart ripped out” as she spoke about her son with Eamonn Holmes Jack leaving home for the first time.

Ruth, who shares her 21-year-old son Jack with her TV star husband Eamonn Holmes, got teary as she spoke about hard she took it when her only son left for university.

In a live video chat, Ruth burst into tears as she explained: “That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out. I kept his bedroom door shut.”

Ruth Langsford sobbed as she spoke of her loneliness

Ruth told Hello! : “I remember coming into his bedroom and crying and getting hold of the pillow, and I could smell him on the pillow, and had a good old cry, and then shutting the door and then that first week was horrendous because I was just so used to having him around.”

Ruth later shared a tear-stained still from the chat on her social media pages and cringed: “I can’t believe I cried.”

Ruth is also very close to her mother and shared a close bond with sister Julia, who tragically took her own life in 2019. Julia battled depression for years and Ruth said losing her sparked the ‘hardest year of her life.’

The presenter said she almost quit her TV work as she battled to say strong, she later said that Eamonn and her son Jack helped get her through the dark times and gave ‘structure’ back in her life. “Eamonn was amazing during that time and Jack and then work,” she said.

“I needed a focus, which was – get up and I would cry in the shower – have a big old bawl – and then I could almost cut it off and go: “right, come on, time for work, dry your hair, go to work. I needed that, because I could lie and cry all day about my sister. I needed that focus and structure back in my life.”

Back in 2020, Ruth opened up about sending Jack to university during the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking on Loose Women, Ruth said she felt “absolutely bereft” when he left home. She said: “I’m alright now. we took him and he seems to be fine, seems to have settled in alright, but it’s a worry now with lockdown.”

However, Ruth pointed out that he hadn’t really contacted her too much since she dropped him off. “I think [teenagers] are much more resilient than we think,” Ruth said. “I was talking to my mum about it… my mum was saying it’s not too much of a hardship being locked in with your phone!”

Baftas: Loose Women star Judi Love appears to roll eyes at Lorraine Kelly during TV Awards

Viewers immediately picked up on the moment

Loose Women star Judi Love appeared to roll her eyes at Lorraine Kelly during the Bafta TV Awards.

The annual ceremony, which saw Timothy Spall, Top Boy and Joe Lycett win the top prizes, took place in London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (12 May) – and viewers are now convinced there is tension between the ITV daytime presenters.

At the ceremony, Scottish presenter Kelly, 64, was given a special award for her services to morning TV, and delivered a speech in which she revealed she was going to be a grandmother.

Kelly told the audience that, despite the fact she had to present the following morning’s edition of her series Lorraine, she was still planning to celebrate that evening.

As she left the stage, the stars gathered in the venue, including Ant and Dec, could be seen applauding Kelly – but when the camera cut to Love, she didn’t seem too happy.

The comedian, who has been a Loose Women panellist since 2020, appeared to roll her eyes and look to the side in an unimpressed manner while everybody else around her clapped.

Viewers couldn’t help but pick up on the moment, and immediately rushed to social media to discuss a possible rivalry between the pair. A tweet of the clip shared by @Lewisjloman has since gone viral on X/Twitter.

“Is anyone able to explain to me what Judi Love’s issue is with Lorraine Kelly?” one person asked, with another adding: “Want to know more about Judi Love giving Lorraine the side eye.”

Both Love and Kelly have since appeared to brush off any suggestions of a rivalry.

Many others joked that Love’s reaction was a response to Kelly’s claim she was hosting her show on Monday.

Recent months have seen Kelly take more regular breaks from daily presenting. In response, a satirical account on X/Twitter, known as @LorraineKWatch, has been tracking her absences, succinctly totting up the number of times she has appeared on her show.

The account regularly goes viral, with social media users being amused at the level of surveillance surrounding the presenter, who herself stepped in to point out she was taking more breaks due to personal reasons.

Speaking on Woman’s Hour in February, she said of the account:“It’s fine, I don’t mind, I don’t care. I probably would have cared before, but I really don’t now, it’s absolutely fine. To be honest… you should never comment on things like that if you don’t know what’s really going on in people’s lives.”

However, in happier times, Ruth, who shares son, Jack, 22, with Eamonn, 64, opened up about the couple’s private life on the ITV show, leaving the audience gob-smacked.

While her fellow panellists – Franke Bridge, Carol McGiffin, and Kelle Bryan – all agreed a sex ban wouldn’t work in their relationships, Ruth admitted there is one thing Eamonn would do to ensure he gets sex.

She said: “You can have all the compliments and the flowers but then, if Eamonn comes home and has used my car and he goes, “Filled the petrol up and did your water bottle,” I’m like, ‘Get upstairs right now’”.

As the studio audience burst into fits of laughter, Ruth continued: “I hate doing it. Literally, I’ll go round with my petrol light on red, the water bottle empty, smeared [windscreen], I’m like, ‘Oh I can’t stop and do that,’ so he’ll do it for me and he knows, he knows.” She added with a smirk: “Everyone’s got their little trick.”

Sadly, for the couple, it looks their private life has come to and end after months of speculation surrounding their relationship. After a series of rows, coupled with the fact they hadn’t been seen together for months, many wondered if Ruth and Eamonn had secretly split.

Speaking about their separation, which was confirmed today, a source said: “It’s a very sorry tale. They are both so loved by the British public, they won over so many people on This Morning which they hosted for more than a decade.” They added: “They were as close to Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan as you could get,” reports MailOnline. Meanwhile, a pal of the pair told The Sun how the couple drifted apart in recent months as their work commitments “took them in different directions”.

Eamonn and Ruth haven’t appeared in each other’s Instagram photos since July 2022. They still spoke about each other in interviews and on their respective shows, Good Morning Britain and Loose Women, however their social media accounts told a different story.

In a poignant post, Ruth last shared a snap of the pair on their anniversary two years ago as she captioned the post: “Happy Anniversary my love @eamonnholme Loved you then Love you still Always have Always will.”

Loose Women descended into chaos as both Janet Street-Porter and Kaye Adams ended up dropping swear words while live on air as their co-stars were left stunned

The Loose Women panel descended into chaos as Janet Street-Porter and Kaye Adams both accidently swore live on air.

The ITV daytime show returned with Kaye as host and Denise Welch, Brenda Edwards and Janet on the panel. They kicked off the programme by talking about modern slang and abbreviations. Kaye reeled off modern terms such as Platty Joobs for the Platinum Jubilee and Gen Elec for the general election.

The four stars were not impressed with the new words as they started to share old slang and terms, which they argued were better and made more sense. However, at the end of the debate Janet cheekily asked: “Can I say t*ts up?” The audience erupted into laughter as a stern Kaye told her: “Janet, the answer to that you asked me a question and no.”

They then cut to an ad break but didn’t apologise for the swear word. As they returned from the break, they discussed Brenda’s fashion choices as she revealed she is a fan of wearing a jumpsuit. She was tasked with wearing a dress as she shared her reasons for why she doesn’t like wearing them.

Yet her panellists didn’t like her reasons for not liking her knees as Kaye urged her to give a dress a go. She got so passionate, she said: “Well, I mean lets see these b****y…” Kaye managed to stop herself at the end of the word as she gasped at what she just said. Brenda quipped: “Everybody is naughty on this panel today, you lot are naughty.”

Denise pointed out: “It’s half term Kaye Adams.” Kaye said: “Can I apologise for the language I am sorry for any offence that has been caused.” Viewers were confused at her apology as some didn’t think it was a swear word. One said: “Why did Kaye apologise for the word b***dy? That’s not a bad word #loosewomen.” Another added: “#loosewomen B****y isn’t really a swear word, for goodness sake.” Someone else commented: “lol Kaye #loosewomen.”

Just last week Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha swore live on air. The hit ITV chat show celebrated the 40th anniversary of Cilla Black’s hit show, Surprise Surprise, by giving the panel their own surprises. Nadia’s surprise was when she spoke about her friendship group before they appeared live in the studio.

Nadia was left in tears over the surprise before dropping a hilarious swear word, where she had to apologise for the blunder. Recalling how they met and their friendship, Nadia then revealed her nickname for one of her friends as she said: “It’s so weird the way you keep calling her Helen because we only call her t**s!” This resulted in loud gasps in the studio as Nadia suddenly realised her error as she covered her mouth in shock while her amused friends added: “You can’t say that, you’re going to be in trouble!” as they all apologised.
