Beaming Meghan Markle and Harry cosy up to anti-royal Jamaican PM who wants to scrap monarchy ahead of Charles’ op

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have sparked a diplomatic row after posing on a red carpet with Jamaican leaders who want to ditch the Royal Family.

The duke and duchess – who have trashed the royals since quitting for the US – were all smiles while King Charles has been ordered to “slow down” after his hospital scare and Princess Kate is off until April after major abdominal surgery.

Jamaica is one of 14 non-UK realms – including Canada, Australia and New Zealand – where the unwell King is head of state.

Harry and Meg put on a loved-up display on the red carpet for the premiere of Bob Marley film One Love.

They posed for snaps with Marlene Malahoo Forte, Jamaica’s minister for legal and constitutional affairs, who last year vowed to “sever ties” between Jamaica and the monarchy.

In January, she said the government would bring a Bill to Parliament in April to remove the King, 75, who has been ordered by wife Camilla “slow down” amid his health scare.

The couple also posed for photos with PM Andrew Holness, who ambushed Kate and William on their ill-fated Caribbean tour in 2022 to say the island nation is “moving on”.

It was the second glitzy outing for Harry in days after he hung out with celebs such as John Travolta when he picked up a Legends of Aviation gong at a Hollywood gala.

The Royal Family insist it is up to the people living in Realms to determine if they wish to leave.

The then-Prince Charles attended the transition of Barbados to a republic in 2021.

He remains Head of State of of 15 Realms including Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and the United Kingdom.

There are no plans for Jamaica to leave the Commonwealth which is a voluntary association of 56 independent countries and has been growing every year and includes non-Empire nations such as Togo and Rwanda.

    PAST ABUSES

The late Queen axed Harry and Meghan from their Commonwealth role after outspoken comments, and their Netflix series was slammed by historians after it claimed the free association of nations was “Empire 2.0”.

Harry and Meg waded into the debate just weeks after Megxit saying the Commonwealth must acknowledge its “uncomfortable” past and said “change is needed and it’s coming”.

They were speaking in a video chat to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QMT) in 2020 and hailed the global Black Lives Matter protests as a “moment of reckoning” for those who committed past abuses and said the movement should continue for “as long as it takes”.

Several months later the late Queen removed their role as ambassador and president of the youth charity.

Harry, who has previously apologised after wearing a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party, calling an Army colleague “our little P*** friend” and telling another “you look a raghead”, has accused the Royal Family of racism.

We can’t deny or ignore the fact that all of us have been brought up and educated to see a world differently

    Prince Harry

In the 2020 video chat, Harry said: “Certainly when you look across the Commonwealth there is no way we can move forward unless we acknowledge the past.

“And I think so many people have done such an amazing and incredible job, I mean, acknowledging the past and trying to right those wrongs.

“But I think we all acknowledge on here that there is still so much more still to do.

“It’s not gonna be easy and in some cases it’s not going to be comfortable but it needs to be done because, guess what, everybody benefits.

“When it comes to institutional systemic racism, it’s there and it stays there, because someone somewhere is benefiting from it.

“We can’t deny or ignore the fact that all of us have been brought up and educated to see a world differently.”

Slavery was abhorrent and it never should have happened

    Prince William

Meghan said: “We have to say in this moment and time we are going to have to be a little uncomfortable right now because only in pushing through that discomfort that we get to the other side of this.”

The couple’s Harry & Meghan six-part series as part of their £100m Netflix deal was blasted for tarnishing the late Queen’s Commonwealth legacy.

One contributor to the programme, the writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch, called the Commonwealth “Empire 2.0”.

    Calls to scrap monarchy

JAMAICA has launched plans to ditch King Charles as its Head of State.

Caribbean neighbour Barbados became a republic with an elected head of state in 2021 – sparking calls for Jamaica to follow suit.

The island’s parliament will vote in April whether to scrap ties with the British monarchy.

Jamaica’s PM Andrew Holness told William and Kate the country was “moving on” from the monarchy during their controversial 2022 visit.

Many Jamaicans demanded that the royal family apologise for its alleged role in the slave trade and pay reparations.

Prince William spoke of his “profound sorrow” about slavery during the trip, stopping short of an apology.

But he and Kate were slammed for shaking hands with children through a wire-mesh fence on the “tone-deaf” trip.

At the time, Minister for Legal Affairs Marlene Malahoo Forte said: “Every colonial nation has its time when it must reconsider its arrangements.

“I don’t think any issue should have taken the royal highnesses by surprise.

    “They have been warmly welcomed.”

While the academic and author Professor Kehinde Andrews said: “It’s not changed a thing, they’ve just got better PR.

“If you look at the black people in the Commonwealth, well their conditions are almost just as bad as they were 50 or 100 years ago.”

Their words were interspersed with footage of the Queen broadcasting to the Empire in 1947 and her speech at the Commonwealth summit in London in 2018.

When William addressed Jamaica’s politicians at a black tie dinner in the country on his ill-fated trip two years ago he expressed “profound sorrow” for the “appalling atrocity of slavery”.

He said: “Slavery was abhorrent and it never should have happened.

“I strongly agree with my father, the Prince of Wales, who said in Barbados last year that the appalling atrocity of slavery forever stains our history.”

I’m Prince Archie’s ex-nanny – I got a speeding ticket on my way to our meeting & was stunned by how Meghan greeted me

THE ex-nanny who was hired to look after Prince Archie by Harry and Meghan has revealed that she had a “surprising” first meeting with the couple before she started her duties.

The paediatric nurse and consultant, Lorren Khumalo, was employed by the Sussexes to look after their first child just months after he was born.

At the time, the couple were residing at Frogmore Cottage, with their son, ahead of their announcement that they were stepping down from working royal life to move to the US.

In a recent interview, the ex-nanny opened up about the day she first visited Frogmore to meet Harry and Meghan for the first time.

She explained that not only did she get a speeding ticket on her way there, but she was also put at ease by a very informal greeting from Harry.

Lorren also claimed that Harry was ‘barefoot’ and the house felt very ‘normal’.

Speaking on an episode of The Breakfast Club with Zenzele Ndebele, she said: “I thought to myself, ‘I wonder how their nannies look, do they wear heels?’

Prince William has got a Norland Nanny, so they’ve got a brown uniform that for my skin colour and the way it looks in khaki brown, I knew it wouldn’t even go, it would just not work.

“So I [thought] I’ll wear something dark and nice kitten heels but I’ll look presentable for a royal so I need to do my best. But I didn’t use any make-up, I said if they take me, they take me as I am.

“I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I’m not blue blood, I will go as I am and trust me with my God, I’ll get this job.”

Lorren then revealed that she was caught driving “too fast” on her way to meeting the Sussexes.

She added: “So I got there and there’s lots of checks that they do but when I got there I expected to see a princely somebody, in those very expensive German, Swiss suits or something.

“He was in his jeans, in a t-shirt, walking barefoot because it was hot.

“I just felt so comfortable, it wasn’t as formal as I expected it to be, it was just a normal home.”

    Lorren Khumalo

“And I kept asking his PPO, so his protection officer, ‘Do I curtsy, do I have to?’

“And he just looked at me and laughed and he said, ‘You’ll see, Prince Harry is amazing’.

“When I got there, the way he opened his arms ‘Hello Lorren!’ and gave me a hug.

“[I thought] ‘Wow, what a gentleman, what a gem’, oh my goodness, I couldn’t believe it.”

Lorren also spoke highly of Meghan and explained that the meeting was nowhere near as formal as she initially thought.

She continued: “And when I walked in and saw Meghan I thought ‘My God, what a beautiful woman’.

“I just felt so comfortable, it wasn’t as formal as I expected it to be, it was just a normal home.”

PRINCE Harry and Megan relaxed in a £3,300-a-night luxury resort to attend the Bob Marley premier as Kate and Charles recover in hospital.

The Sussexes raised eyebrows after posing with Jamaican leaders on the red carpet of the glitzy One Love event on Tuesday.

It is understood the “desperate” couple, had been flown out by Paramount Pictures on a private Gulfstream IV jet.

They took the opportunity to cosy up to execs in a bid to revive Meghan’s failed acting pursuits, claimed Royal experts.

The couple were spotted chatting to Paramount CEO, Brian Robbins, who live close to the Sussexes in a £13million Montecito mansion.

Harry also spoke with Rita Marley, 77, as reported by the MailOnline and her daughter Stephanie, 49, said: “She (my mother) is fond of Harry and loves his spirit as well as his rebellion against the status quo.

“She likes that he seems fearless and stands up for what he believes is right.”

The widow of reggae legend, Bob Marley, first met the Duke in 2012 during the Diamond Jubilee Tour, where he was met with huge popularity.

But, Harry and Meghan’s return on Tuesday was branded “insensitive” after Jamaica announced plans to bring a Bill to Parliament in April to remove King Charles as head of state.

The couple smiled alongside Marlene Malahoo Forte, Jamaica’s minister for legal and constitutional affairs, who last year vowed to “sever ties” between Jamaica and the monarchy.

They also stood with Jamaican PM Andrew Holness, who told Prince William and wife Kate the country was ready to “move on”, during their ill-fated Caribbean trip two years ago.

    EXCLUSIVE RESORT

Before attending the One Love event, Harry and Meghan reportedly enjoyed a relaxing stay at a the Half Moon in Montego Bay, a five-star luxury resort where villas can cost up to £3,300 per night.

The Duke and Duchess are thought to have spent a night in the Eclipse area – which boasts a private beach and its own security, boosting its exclusivity.

It has welcomed a host of star-studded guests from the Kennedy Family to King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II.

And, after rubbing shoulders with Jamaican leaders at the premiere, Harry and Meghan joined an after party at the Terra Nova hotel in Kingston to network with more high-profile celebs.

    ROYAL OPERATIONS

Meanwhile, Princess Kate and the Monarch are still staying at The London Clinic while they recover from surgery.

Kate, 42, went in for a planned abdominal operation on January 16, and is currently on her 12th day inside the facility.

Less than two hours after Kensington Palace shared the health announcement, it was revealed King Charles was also scheduled hospital treatment.

The Monarch, 75, underwent a “corrective” procedure for an enlarged prostate and arrived at The London Clinic on Friday, January 26.

Queen Camilla was pictured arriving to visit King Charles in hospital yesterday and told well-wishers: “He’s fine, thank you.”

It is understood Kate’s father-in-law chose the same hospital to cut down on security costs.

The Royal pair will be taking a step back from duties while they rest up, with Kate expected to return to her normal routine at around Easter.

Sources claimed at the weekend that Kate’s commitment to her royal duties will see her get back into work as soon as she can.

She is said to have plans to work from bed once she arrives home from her surgery.

Kate’s husband Prince William, 41, visited her every day at the clinic in Marylebone, central London.

Meanwhile, children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had not been to see their mum to keep life “normal”, as they continued going to school.

Kate’s parents were also said to have cleared their schedule to help with the children.

ROYAL OPERATIONS: How the health scares facing Charles & Kate unfolded

With King Charles and the Princess of Wales undergoing surgery at the same hospital, here is a timeline of the health troubles facing the two royals.

Tuesday, January 16: Kate, 42, is secretly admitted to the London Clinic and undergoes abdominal surgery.
Wednesday, January 17: Kensington Palace announces the princess’ operation and says she will remain in the private hospital for 10-14 days.
Over an hour later, Buckingham Palace announces the King, 75, is to have treatment for a benign enlarged prostate and will be admitted to hospital in a few days.
Thursday, January 18: Prince William spends time at his wife’s bedside, driving himself away from the back entrance during the low-key, private visit.
The Queen says the King is “fine” and “looking forward to getting back to work” during a visit to the Aberdeen Art Gallery
Friday, January 19: The King flies back from Scotland with the Queen and heads to his Sandringham estate in Norfolk to rest ahead of the procedure.
Monday, January 22: The Queen tells 86-year-old well-wisher Jessie Jackson that the King is “fine”, and thanks her for asking, while she carries out engagements in Swindon.
Camilla urges the King to take it easy. An insider told The Sun: “The Queen has told him he needs to slow down a bit.”
Thursday, January 25: The King arrives back in London from Sandringham ready for his treatment.
Friday, January 26: The King is admitted to the London Clinic for treatment for an enlarged prostate and also visits the Princess of Wales, who is recovering in the same hospital.

Princess Lili’s Californian birthday bash! Meghan and Harry ‘held party for close friends and family’ at their £12million Montecito mansion this weekend to celebrate their daughter turning three

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their daughter Lilibet’s birthday in Californian style this weekend, with a birthday party thrown at their Montecito mansion.

People magazine confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, whose daughter Lili turns three today, hosted a ‘pre-birthday bash’ at their £12million ($14million) home at the weekend.

The party was opened up to ‘close friends and family’ – however the guest list has not been published and it is unclear which members of the Sussexes’ family were in attendance. Femail has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

Lilibet’s third birthday comes after her parents shared a rare insight into their daughter’s personality in recent weeks, during their 72-hour whirlwind tour of Nigeria.

Meghan, 42, revealed to school pupils that her daughter’s favourite class at nursery was dancing – ‘probably because of all the jumping around’.

The third birthday party is not the first bash the Sussexes have hosted at their home in honour of Lili – after also throwing a Christening celebration for her in 2023.

The duke and duchess hosted the religious ceremony, which was carried out by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Reverend John Taylor, in the March.

People magazine reported that there were between 20 and 30 guests at the event, including Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and Lilibet’s godfather Tyler Perry.

They were serenaded by a gospel choir, who are believed to have performed Oh Happy Day and This Little Light of Mine — a song that was played at Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

Meanwhile an insider revealed that after the ceremony, ‘attendees were treated to an afternoon of food and dancing — with Archie enjoying a dance with his little sister!’

A source also told the magazine that Lilibet’s aunt and uncle, the Prince and Princess of Wales, grandfather King Charles and step-grandmother, the Queen Consort, had been invited to the event but had not attended.

However, despite the fact that no senior royals from Harry’s paternal family were in attendance at the Christening, some of his close relatives were in attendance, according to reports.

Marie Claire reported that Harry’s aunts from his mother Princess Diana‘s side, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, had been in attendance at the Christening.

Both Harry and William have remained close with their aunts and uncle on their mother’s side since the death of Princess Diana in 1997.

Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on June 4, 2021 in California. Although she has lived there all her life, the toddler did celebrate her first birthday in the UK, at the Sussexes’ former residence Frogmore Cottage.

The couple held a ‘relaxed’ first birthday party for Lilibet in the garden of the royal residence which involved a birthday cake, balloons, party games and picnic snacks.

Those who were said to have also been at Frogmore Cottage included Zara and Mike Tindall’s three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, as well as Savannah, and Isla, daughters of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly.

Archie’s godfather, Charlie Van Straubenzee, and his brother Tom, godfather to Princess Charlotte, were also invited, it is understood.

Few details were given about Lilibet's christening but it was held in the plush, chic home of Harry and Meghan in Santa Barbara, California, of which royal fans saw glimpses in the couple's Netflix documentary. Pictured: Meghan with Lilibet as a newborn

Among the gifts were apparently a pastel pink VW Beetle ride-on car, £75 from Selfridges, while Sussex supporters donated $100,000 to charity in her honour.

Charles may have bought her a swing similar to one he bought for Prince George – after an aide to the Sussexes was seen unloading it from their private jet in Santa Barbara.

Photos from the event included a sweet snap of the tot sitting on the lawn outside Frogmore Cottage, smiling in the sunshine, which was taken by Misan Harriman.

Another photo from the event showed Meghan carrying Lilibet as they posed with the photographer’s wife Camilla Holmstroem, a former Goldman Sachs banker turned entrepreneur, and their two daughters, who both had their faces painted, one of the activities laid on for guests.

But while Mr Harriman also shared a picture of him smiling with his eldest child on Instagram and Twitter, there were no pictures of Harry and Archie released.

East London baker Claire Ptak – who made the couple’s wedding cake in 2018 – created new treats for the low-key bash. She later shared a picture of a small peony-covered cake that could be the one enjoyed by guests.

In another post, Claire revealed a second photo of the three-tier cake which had her name written on a flag which had been stuck into the dessert.

She revealed it was flavoured with lemon and elderflower, the same as the Sussexes’ wedding cake in 2018, but had been covered with strawberry buttercream especially for the birthday girl.

Royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine Lilibet’s second birthday might have been a star-studded affair in the US.

She said: ‘I would expect to see a sprinkling of celebrities and a laid-back party, which hopefully will include some other toddlers.

‘It would be nice to think the day might include a video call to Lilibet’s grandfather, King Charles and hopefully some sort of gift has been arranged and will be delivered to Montecito for her birthday.’

In March, the Sussexes confirmed Princess Lilibet had been christened in Montecito, California, after reports of an ‘intimate’ gathering at the Sussexes’ mansion appeared in People Magazine.

It was also confirmed that King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales were invited to the event but did not attend.

Prince Harry’s pal Nacho Figueras shares his heartwarming ‘dream’ for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – after losing to the Duke in annual Sentebale charity polo match

Prince Harry’s polo pal Nacho Figeueras has shared his heartwarming ‘dream’ for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The father-of-four, 47, from Argentina, competed against the Duke of Sussex in the Royal Salute Polo Challenge, which took place in Santa Barbara last Friday.

The annual event raises money for Sentebale, the charity founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006 to support vulnerable young people in Southern Africa.

Following the match, which saw Royal Salute Sentebale triumph over the Grand Champions, Nacho opened up about his close friendship with the Duke and his ‘dream’ for their families’ future.

In an interview with Hello!, the polo player – who has known Prince Harry since 2007 – said he hopes that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet inherit their father’s love of the sport.

When asked if he’d like Harry’s children to play against his own, Nacho said: ‘I really hope so, I hope that Archie and Lili get to love horses as much as he does.’

Nacho continued: ‘I know my kids love it and they love to play. It would be a dream that one day we all get to play polo together.’

Nacho welcomed his first child with his Argentinian photographer wife Delfina Blaquier in 2000. The couple now has four children together: Hilario; Aurora; Artemo; and Alba.

What’s more, Nacho also opened up about his close relationship with the Duke and said they ‘speak very often’.

Following the Sentebale’s team’s win, Nacho praised his ‘very good friend’ Prince Harry on Instagram and labelled his ‘commitment to making a difference’ as ‘truly inspiring’.

The father-of-four wrote: ‘What an incredible day yesterday at the Grand Champions Polo Club, It was a day not just of sport, but of significant purpose.’

‘I’m so proud to have shared this experience with my very good friend, Prince Harry. We came together to support Sentebale, a charity close to our hearts that does remarkable work for children in Lesotho and Botswana.

‘It’s always an honor to ride alongside Prince Harry, whose commitment to making a difference is truly inspiring.

‘Here’s to more unforgettable moments and continuing to support the wonderful causes that improve so many lives!

Since 2006, celebrity polo matches around the world have raised about $15 million for the charity, organisers said.

The pair have played polo alongside one another in various matches over the years, and Nacho, 46, has become one of Harry and Meghan’s most vocal supporters, praising them in magazine interviews and during TV appearances.

The father-of-four was also among a handful of the Duke and Duchess’s closest confidantes who appeared in the couple’s Netflix documentary series.

It has also been speculated that Nacho and his glamorous wife Delfina could be regulars in two Netflix series due to be launched by Harry and Meghan as part of their $100 million (£80 million) deal with the streaming giant.

While Meghan’s series is likely to focus on cooking and lifestyle, Harry will showcase his love of polo in another programme as part of the deal.

On Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex was seen warmly hugging Prince Harry’s polo-playing pal Nacho as her husband filmed scenes for his new Netflix series in Palm Beach.

The mother-of-two, 42, also went on to embrace Nacho’s wife Delfina, who has affectionately described the Duchess as her ‘sister’ and ‘polo wife’ in the past.

The two women – who have forged a strong friendship after attending polo matches together to watch their spouses play – were seen walking away from their husbands with their arms wrapped around each other as filming got underway.

Later in the day, Meghan was also seen affectionately greeting the couple’s eight-year-old daughter Alba – giving her a kiss on the head and a warm hug.

Meghan’s daughter Lilibet appears to have forged a close friendship with Alba.

According to Hello reporter Alexandra Hurtado, Alba was asking after her friend at the polo event on Friday.

The royal reporter wrote: ‘According to Nacho, Alba wanted to know why the Sussexes’ daughter Lili wasn’t there.’

Alba’s mother Delfina has even previously referred to the Duchess of Sussex as a ‘sister’ when gushing over the ‘fellow polo-wife’ in an Instagram post in 2022.

She also praised the royal mother-of-two as being ‘stronger than she knows’ in an interview with Hello! magazine in the same year.

In 2022, following a glamorous polo meet in Aspen, Colorado, Delfina said: ‘[Meghan] is so wonderful and strong. Stronger than she knows. I love being around my friends, and I will always support her.’
Prince Harry’s grandmother also had a life-long love of horses – after being given a Shetland pony called Peggy at the age of four.
The late monarch’s racing advisor John Warren has previously said that the Queen was discussing her ‘love of horses right to the very end’.
Speaking in September 2022, Mr Warren revealed he spent the weekend before the Queen died in Scotland discussing her horses.
He reflected: ‘We sat there for hours over the weekend strategising and making plans going forward.
‘And I think the nicest thing for me is to know that she was surrounded by her family members. ‘She was in such a healthy state of mind and in tremendous form. It’s very important to know that she was absolutely, wonderfully switched on.’

ITV Coronation Street star’s heartbreaking comments on 100lb weight loss

Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey in ITV’s Coronation Street, looks unrecognisable after losing 100lbs following years of being ‘obsessed’ with her weight

Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown has revealed the downside to her incredible weight loss journey in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The actress, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey on the ITV soap, has been candid about her glamorous lifestyle online and has recently been involved in a gripping storyline where her character fought for Roy Cropper’s release from prison for Lauren Bolton’s murder.

However, last month, it was revealed that her on-screen boyfriend Joel Deering (Callum Lill) was the real culprit behind Lauren’s death. Off-screen, the star has been focusing on her fitness, having recently completed the Manchester 10k marathon alongside her co-stars.

In her recent Instagram post, the 27-year-old actress proudly displayed her golden medal and opened up about her significant weight loss journey over the years. She admitted to losing 100lbs after years of being “obsessed” with her weight and trying various “diets, shakes and tablets”.

She also revealed that she took a break from social media to focus on her mental health and that the downside to her weight loss was “uncomfortable comments”.

The TV personality went on to share a dramatic before and after photo with her 16,000 online followers. She described her spiral of self-loathing, she expressed: “Couple of years ago it got really bad, I was losing control. Hating yourself is a s**t way to live. I came off socials for over a month and when I came back, I unfollowed all the pages full of beautiful, unrealistic bodies,” reports the Daily Star.

She admitted how seeing these images would send her downwards, stating: “Consuming those images daily used to send me spiralling. Comparison’s a killer. Instead, I follow women who represented me more, in terms of shape, skills and skin colour.”

Instead, she chose to follow women who more accurately mirrored her own skin colour, shape, and abilities. It was this pivot in mindset that led to her success, as she started prioritising her health and fitness. The TV star confessed: “I stopped seeing the gym as punishment for being fat and started focusing on fitness. For the first time ever I started enjoying working out, my high school PE teacher would be shook.”

Her realisation of her weight loss came subtly. “I didn’t notice my weight loss until my clothes were a bit big. So then there’s this excitement of feeling fitter, new wardrobe (cos a b**ch loves to shop).”

However, as the weight began to drop, she was taken aback by the amount of praise she received from loved ones about her figure and not her accomplishments. “But then came the compliments,” she explained, adding: “Which weirdly made me so uncomfortable. Awkwardly smiling, when people gushed over me being thinner, not my 1st class degree.”

“Then bare anxiety, ‘If I put on weight is everyone gonna notice? ‘ It was like confirmation that all my toxic thoughts had been in the back of everyone else’s head all along.”

“When people compliment weight loss I know they mean no harm, but when it becomes the main focus of your achievements, it’s disheartening. Now I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t proud of myself, but that’s linked to being two years veggie, being healthier and my head being a happier place to be.”

“Not always of course, I still have my moments, things I’d change. But I’ve learnt to keep it moving, don’t let those negative thoughts fester or they will take control.”

The actor shared her newfound belief about modern beauty standards and explained how she has grown from this experience. Channique explained: “Changing how I see myself and unlearning the toxic beauty standards society feeds us, is the real glow up. I now realise the gal on the left is just as much of a bad b**ch as the gal on the right.”

“Let’s build each other up for more than just our dress size/ I always want to be known for my love, laughter and loudness, not the body they live in.”
