  • ITV Loose Women in chaos as two stars set to quit the show over ‘unacceptable’ change

ITV Loose Women in chaos as two stars set to quit the show over ‘unacceptable’ change

Two long-running Loose Women stars are reportedly set to quit the daytime TV show after ITV brought in PAYE-only contracts, which could spark a major panel shake-up

Two Loose Women stars have reportedly ‘quit’ the show following a row over contracts.

Long-running panellists Janet Street-Porter, 77, and Jane Moore, 61, are said to be in talks with ITV bosses who want them to sign contracts saying they are permanent employees rather than freelance journalists. The new contract row follows former Loose Women panelist Carol Griffin exiting the show for similar reasons last year.

Jane, who anchored the popular daytime show from 1999 to 2002 before returning as a regular panellist in 2013, hasn’t been seen on the panel since December 29. Janet, who has been a Loose Women regular since 2011, has continued to appear, though the issues are still not thought to be resolved.

The row is said to be down to ITV’s new PAYE-only contracts policy, in response to HMRC’s crackdown on off-payroll working rules – or IR35 – to ensure that freelancers broadly pay the same income tax and national insurance as employees. Sources claim that Janet and Jane, who have both been freelance for decades and work on other projects, are “furious” over the “unacceptable” contract change, which do not offer holiday, sick pay or pensions and forbid some work opportunities – especially as Jane only appeared on the show 10 times last year.

Despite “loving” working on Loose Women, the pair may be ready to walk, following in the footsteps of former panellist Carol McGiffin, who quit after refusing to sign a similar contract last year. A source told MailOnline: “Jane and Janet are furious. They have done such a lot of work for that show and they love it – but they do work across different companies and, as journalists, value their independent status. Things have got pretty tense. If it carries on, there might be a big change to the line-up.”

A spokesperson for ITV told The Mirror: “We don’t comment on individual cases, but ITV ensures that it complies with and follows all HMRC guidance and legislation.” The Mirror has reached out to representatives for both Jane and Janet for further comment on this story.

Speaking in May last year, Carol said “no one in their right mind” would sign the contract which she called “totally unjust and unworkable for me”. During an appearance on GB News, the TV star said she no longer watches the show and claimed it’s become too ‘woke’ for her.

Many of ITV’s biggest stars have recently been in battles with HMRC, including Loose Women star Kaye Adams. The 61-year-old recently won a 10-year fight with the tax man over IR35 rules, but said the experience had left her feeling “utterly beaten up and gas lit”, even comparing it to how Post Office postmasters were treated in the Horizon computer scandal.

Former Good Morning Britain host Eamonn Holmes recently lost two HMRC appeals over whether he was freelance or staff at ITV. He revealed he had been forced to sell his beloved house in Belfast to pay £250,000 in backdated tax, as well as facing “hundreds of thousands” in legal fees.

ITV Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan ‘mortified’ as boyfriend appears in audience amid romantic surprise

Coleen Nolan revealed her boyfriend’s romantic Valentine’s Day surprise on Wednesday’s show before he was shown sweetly waving in the audience

Coleen Nolan joked she was “mortified” on Wednesday’s Loose Women as the show panned onto her boyfriend in the audience.

During the latest episode, which was a Valentine’s Day special, Coleen, 58, gushed about her boyfriend Michael, whom she met on dating app Tinder, after he surprised her on Tuesday evening.

Coleen said: “I was on the phone to my chap last night, I was a bit stressed, I was thinking: ‘I’m on my own tomorrow Valentine’s Day’, there I am, I’m on the phone chatting away to him and I turn around, he was chatting behind me. He’d come to surprise me.”

Smiling, she added: “That’s so romantic!” Later on the show, Coleen revealed that Olivia Attwood’s husband, Bradley Dack, was joining the show for the Valentine’s Day special.

This prompted co-star, Brenda Edwards, to ask: “Bradley’s here for Olivia, you said that your man came down last night, so where is he today? It’s Valentine’s Day today!”

Coleen then replied: “He’s here!” to which the camera panned onto a waving Michael in the audience as Love Is In The Air started playing with the panellists all saying: “Hello!”

A giggling Coleen then said: “Enough now, that’s mortifying! Time for competition now, thank the lord!” Coleen met Michael on Tinder back in 2021 but it wasn’t all plain sailing with the pair breaking up a number of times before deciding to give things a proper go last year.

After trying again, Coleen and Michael are now happier than ever – but the TV star has insisted that marriage won’t ever be on the cards for them.

Appearing on Monday’s instalment of the ITV daytime show, Coleen admitted that she has been living with Michael in recent months as a “trial run” to decipher whether or not they could make it a longterm living situation.

As it turns out, the trial run went better than expected, and Coleen has now confirmed that she and Michael will continue living together as they look forward to a future together.

Although she’s excited to take the huge relationship step with her beau, Coleen recently insisted that while she loves Michael, she will never marry him. Coleen revealed that Michael has made it clear that he would love nothing more than to tie the knot, but the Nolan Sisters singer doesn’t see herself walking down the aisle again.

  • ITV Loose Women launch powerful new campaign to raise awareness of domestic abuse

ITV Loose Women launch powerful new campaign to raise awareness of domestic abuse

Loose Women is launching a domestic abuse awareness campaign, Facing It Together, and a special edition of the ITV show about the issue will be broadcast on Tuesday

Loose Women is launching a domestic abuse awareness campaign this week, with some of the panel said to open up about their experiences in a short film on the ITV show.

The campaign, Facing It Together, guided by the charities Women’s Aid and SafeLives, aims to highlight the help that is available to those living with domestic abuse. It also aims to educate people on the signs of such abuse and ways that they can support loved ones who may be experiencing it.

It will be the focus of a special episode of Loose Women on Tuesday afternoon. For the new campaign, eight of the talk show’s panellists took part in an emotive photoshoot and short film, with them sharing in a promotional clip: “Whether you are a survivor or a friend, we are facing it together.”

The clip was unveiled by ITV on Monday afternoon. During the video ahead of the campaign’s launch, it’s stated that one in four women will experience domestic abuse and that one in seven men have experienced some form of it too.

Brenda Edwards, 55, Charlene White, 43, Denise Welch, 65, and Frankie Bridge, 35, feature in the campaign. They are joined by their colleagues Judi Love, 43, Kelle Bryan, 48, Olivia Attwood-Dack, 32, and Sunetra Sarker, 50.

Announcing the campaign, ITV said: “Denise, Olivia, Kelle and Brenda, all four of whom have personally experienced domestic abuse, stand shoulder to shoulder with their fellow panellists and friends – in a show of support and solidarity with those currently facing domestic abuse, as well as survivors, and to let them know that they’re not alone.”

It adds that the special on Tuesday will show Denise, Kelle and Olivia “bravely open up on their personal accounts of domestic abuse” in the short film that will play during the show. Their co-stars Charlene, Frankie, Judi and Sunetra will “explain why they are supporting the campaign”.

During the live show, Charlene, Brenda and Kelle, as well as two other panellists, will discuss “how we can all gain a better understanding of the types of domestic abuse – from knowing what to say, how to speak up and help people living with domestic abuse so no one has to suffer in silence”.

Sally Shelford, editor of Loose Women said: “We’re always proud to represent the issues facing our viewers at home. We hope that this campaign gives a voice to the many survivors and those living with abuse, as well as empowering their friends and family to know the best ways they can help and approach these difficult conversations. We really hope that our campaign helps both survivors and their friends and family face it together.”

Suzanne Jacob, the CEO of SafeLives, said: “National campaigns like ‘Facing It Together’ are so important. Abusers will tell you no one cares about you, no one will believe you and you have no one else. The Loose Women panel are making it clear that is absolutely not true. You are not alone. And there is life after abuse. Domestic abuse thrives when it is behind closed doors. If you’re worried about someone – don’t wait for them to reach out, reach in. Domestic abuse is everyone’s business. Only together, can we make it stop.”

Farah Nazeer, chief executive of Women’s Aid, said about the initiative: “We are delighted to be working with Loose Women as they launch their ‘Facing It Together’ campaign. […] We know from our work with survivors that so many women don’t report domestic abuse for fear of not being believed, and it falls to us as a society to change this.”

Loose Women’s ‘Facing It Together’ special will be broadcast on Tuesday from 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX.

  • ITV Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha stunned in airport video as she reveals she’s broken the law

ITV Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha stunned in airport video as she reveals she’s broken the law

Nadia Sawalha is on hand to warn people about a pretty unknown law passengers must observe when flying, with the Loose Women icon admitting she’s broken the rule many, many times over the years

Nadia Sawalha shared an hilarious video with fans on Wednesday – revealing that she’s accidentally broken the law.

The Loose Women favourite even prompted a response from a police force thanks to admitting her ‘crime’ on Instagram. In a video filmed in an airport, the ITV star told her followers: “I’m just at the airport and have realised I have broken the law multiple times. Could have faced the fing courts…and what you don’t realise is you have too. I mean, what the f.”

The former EastEnders actress then turned the camera to reveal a sign from the police warning passengers that says you can’t be drunk on an aircraft. “I had no idea this was illegal? ? Did you? When did they make this illegal? ? ? “, Nadia asked as she captioned the video.

“Have we all missed that GINORMOUS sign,” one Instagram user joked as they wrote underneath Nadia’s video. “What??? Omg all those times!! seriously,” another penned, as third fumed: What the f*”k!!!!!! Since when was this a law???? So you can’t get on a plane drunk but it’s ok for the flight attendants to take your money and ply you with alcohol for you then to get off the plane drunk? I’m confused – getting on/off the plane drunk, what’s the difference.”

Even though Nadia was making a joke, some people reminded everyone that being drunk on flights isn’t a laughing matter. Someone grumbled: “Plenty of idiots ruin it by sneaking on their own booze getting smashed and causing problems for the staff and public it’s a good think drunken idiots are annoying as hell on a flight.”

An ex-flight attendant shared their thoughts and added to the debate, writing: “As ex cabin crew who had to deal with plenty of out of control passengers in my time, it’s for the safety of you and everyone around you. People actually mad on planes as it is. Alcohol is not the answer.”

Even the Instagram account for Sussex Police got involved, with the force’s social media manager writing: “Hands up, Nadia. We’ve got you! Just kidding, a few drinks won’t make you a woman on the loose. Having a drink or two whilst waiting to get on the flight or during the journey isn’t a crime. But being drunk and causing a disturbance is an offence and has been since 2009, to keep everyone safe and comfortable. We hope you had a good flight.”

Airlines can say no to drunk passengers if they think they might be a danger on the plane. If you’re caught being too drunk, you could get fined up to £5,000 or even go to jail for two years. You’re allowed to bring up to 5 litres of booze from Duty Free onto the plane. But remember, you can’t drink your own alcohol during the flight; it has to stay in your carry-on bag. If you want a drink, you’ll have to buy it during the flight.

ITV Loose Women star lets slip close friend Sharon Osbourne is joining Celebrity Big Brother

Loose Women star Jane Moore made a huge blunder on live TV today when she let slip that a good friend of hers was going into the Celebrity Big Brother house, despite it not having officially been confirmed

Loose Women star Jane Moore let slip a good friend of hers would be heading into the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Jane made her return to the ITV lunchtime show after being busy with other projects and heading on a number of other projects. However, as she discussed her return to the programme, she let slip one of the biggest names heading into the famous house.

Celebrity Big Brother bosses have yet to confirm who is heading into the house next week, but the show will kick off on Monday March 4th. Fans are thrilled to have the celebrities back in the house after a successful civilian series last year.

Speaking about where she’s been for the last few months, Jane revealed: “I was on tour with Sharon Osbourne. It was really good fun. She’s such a joy to interview because she’s so honest. She said to me, I don’t want to know any of the questions beforehand – and who says that to you. I was quite out there, with my questioning and it was brilliant.”

The other panellists then asked if she answered questions about Celebrity Big Brother, to which Jane quickly added: “She is. She is.” Kaye seemingly tried to remind Jane that ITV have yet to confirm who is going on, as Nadia added: “I wasn’t expecting you to answer that,” with Kaye sharing: “I don’t think ITV have confirmed that just yet, it’s just a rumour.”

Jane continued to insist Sharon was going in, before Kaye chimed in: “Will somebody send back the real Jane Moore?” Eventually, Jane realised her error, saying: “I mean sorry, it’s been rumoured that she’s going in. She will be amazing… if indeed she was to be going in.”

Hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best have been sharing their dream line-up, with AJ sharing: “I definitely want to see someone from Selling Sunset, I want an American. They never quite fully understand the concept and they never know who the other UK celebrities are. The two worlds colliding is always perfection to watch. We want some A-list celebrities to get in there and ask where’s the champagne? We went them to think it’s going to be luxurious, but we’ve given them an economy shopping budget.”

Will added: “I want to have a mix of ages. It’s that intergenerational thing and seeing the difference between old-school celebrities and new ones. I want a musician, a sports person, a royal, a reality personality, they are part of the fabric of our current celebrity culture.”

Linda Robson says her daughter gives her ‘pocket money’ and controls her cash

Linda Robson appeared on Friday’s episode of Lorraine where she gave an update on her life, work on Loose Women and family

Linda Robson has said that her daughter gives her “pocket money” and controls her cash.

Appearing on Friday’s episode of Lorraine, the Birds of a Feather actress opened up about how her daughter, Lauren, is in charge of her finances so she doesn’t get into debt. The 65-year-old talked about how her family have helped her with mental health struggles in the past and organising her finances.

Speaking to host Ranvir Singh, the Loose Women panelist said that her fellow panel show pals helped her when she struggled with an alcohol addiction. She also went on to say that her daughter had to swoop in to help her with her cash.

Lauren explained: “She’s always been really bad with money. She used to get store cards and just spend on them, it’s like she didn’t think you had to pay them at the end of the month.” Ranvir then went on to say how generous Linda was with other people as Lauren said that her mum used to buy everything for her friends.

She explained: “She used to buy everyone everything, pay for everyone to go on holiday, pay for us to go places, so it’s not like she just goes out shopping and spends everything on herself.” Linda then interjected saying: “I love buying presents for people.”

Despite being so generous, Lauren said that she is now in charge of her mum’s spending to make sure that she doesn’t use all of her savings again after she ended up in thousands of pounds of debt when Birds of a Feather came to an end.

Lauren said: “When she lost all of her money and went bankrupt she was in a terrible state so we never want that to happen to her again. I have her money, it goes into an account that I have access to and then I give her money on a Monday and a Friday.”

Ranvir went on to ask: “Do you get pocket money?” and Linda replied: “Yes and sometimes I ring her and say I’ve run out of money can I have some more? And she says no, you’ve had your pocket money, you’ll have to wait.”

Linda’s other daughter Bobby used to be in charge of her money before Lauren took on the job. Linda explained that Lauren tends to be stricter with her and when Bobby was in charge, she used to find it easier to get money from her daughter. She said: “(Bobby) was easier, I used to be able to get money off Bobby easier, but now Lauren’s got it she’s quite strict.”

Birds of a Feather officially came to an end in December 2020. However, it was broadcast on BBC One for a nine year run from 1989 before being revived fifteen years later for ITV.

Ruth Langsford drops jaws as she parties night away at raucous 30th birthday party

Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford sent fans wild as she donned a fabulous 70’s outfit to celebrate the 30th birthday of her close pal alongside stars including Denise Van Outen

Many are perhaps used to seeing presenter Ruth Langsford looking rather conservative while on the panel of Loose Women.

But Ruth showed off a more fun-loving side to her character when she sported a 1970’s outfit for a friend’s themed birthday bash. Wearing a pair of heart shaped pink tinted glasses, Ruth complimented her look with a shiny black top underneath a multi-coloured sequined jacket.

The TV personality, 63, who is married to Eamon Holmes, completed her look with a pair of denim jeans and gold high heeled shoes. In a series of stories on her Instagram, Ruth first posted a video of her and a pal in a dressing room with a caption that read: “Uber on it’s way sweetie!”

The next video was of her getting into the party spirit as she filmed her self dancing before heading to the bash. She captioned the video saying: “You jivin hun?” The next few clips were of the birthday girl named Liv Davey, who appears to be a make-up artist. In another video, Liv is seen dancing alongside Denise Van Outen, who was DJing, while having the time of her life. Denise also shared clips on Instagram, writing: “Happy 30th Liv!”

In a picture, it seems as though Ruth is looking to add more strings to her bow as she was snapped imitating a DJ. Earlier this month, Ruth sent fans into hysterics when she attempted the “of course” trend that is taking social media by storm.

The trend sees people address stereotypes or perceptions related to their particular careers or identity. Keeping up to date with the current trend, Ruth was seen posing in an outfit from her QVC clothing range as she told viewers: “I’m Ruth Langsford… of course I always model my own designs.” She was then seen standing in a kitchen, where she teased tea preferences.

She added: “I’m Ruth Langsford… of course, I always have Earl Grey tea in a porcelain teacup.” The former This Morning host was also filmed having her hair and makeup done. She teased: “I’m Ruth Langsford … of course, I have my own personal hair and makeup team.” She then jokingly told a member of her glam squad: “My toes will need shaving.”

The TV personality was next seen ringing a bell demanding champagne. After being handed a glass, she commented: “I’m Ruth Langsford… of course I drink champagne at the end of a photoshoot. Cheers.” Taking just a sip of the fizzy drink, she is then seen spitting out the drink questioning if it was prosecco instead. Looking disgusted she said: “Urgh! Is that prosecco? Is that prosecco?” Looking at the camera with her hand out towards it, she then joked: “Turn that off! I’ve never been so insulted in my life. Turn it off!”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘facing huge challenge over invites to A-List events’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not attend a recent wedding in the United Kingdom, with a royal expert now claiming that the pair face a huge challenge with A-List events in the USA

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing a huge “challenge” as they’re not invited to A-List events in the United States, a royal expert claims.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California in the summer of 2020, with the couple also stepping down as senior royals in the same year. Since moving to America, they have become somewhat estranged from the Royal Family, with them distancing themselves from England too.

With the couple having distanced themselves from England and Royal Family, the Sussexes missed out on a recent royal wedding. Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is a close friend of both Prince Harry and his brother Prince William. The Duke got married last week, with his wedding to Olivia Henson taking place on Friday, June 7.

Both Prince Harry and Meghan missed out on the nuptials of Harry’s close friend the billionaire Duke of Westminster, which took place at Chester Cathedral, with it now claimed that Meghan would have caused a “media storm” had she attended. It was previously reported that the Duke of Sussex turned down a “save the date” to the wedding to avoid an “awkward” encounter with family members he is no longer close with.

And now a royal commentator has revealed a “challenge” that he claims the Sussexes have in the United States off the back of them not attending the Duke of Westminster’s wedding. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Richard Fitzwilliams told us: “The challenge for Harry and Meghan is to attend comparable events in the United States which are not focused on them. The Met Gala and the Oscars are the sort of events they would benefit from being seen at, since they have pretensions to be A-listers. Barack Obama’s 60th, held in 2021, the year they were in Time Magazine’s Top 100, is the sort of event they would undoubtedly want to be seen at but were not invited to.”

Also during our chat, Mr Fitzwilliams spoke of the “media storm” that he claims Meghan would have caused at the recent wedding of the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson when he added: “They also knew that their presence would cause a media storm, especially since Meghan has not visited Britain since Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle double date with Tracy Robbins and Paramount exec husband at Lucky’s Steakhouse in Montecito to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry enjoyed a double date on their sixth wedding anniversary as they went for dinner to celebrate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted at one of their favourite restaurants in their hometown of Montecito, Lucky’s, an upmarket steakhouse where a 28oz porterhouse steak costs $175 and a side of hash browns will set you back $15.

The couple were joined by their friends, Paramount boss Brian Robbins and his wife Tracy, who works as a designer.

The four pals are thought to have developed a close bond in recent years, with Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, joining the pair for the One Love film premiere in Jamaica in January.

Tracy was also one of the first original ‘jamfluencers’ to be gifted one of Meghan’s homemade strawberry jam jars from her new brand American Riviera Orchard.

Emily, like many women, gets a lot of online hate from users who comment and nitpick about every part of her life from her body to her pregnancy and more. The star is no stranger to sharing screenshots of the rude (and sometimes x-rated) messages she receives from trolls but recently admitted she thought pregnancy would change things.

Appearing on Loose Women on Friday, Emily discussed her pregnancy before the conversation switched to online trolls criticising her for anything and everything. “Just as women, we’re self-conscious going to the shop sometimes,” she said. “I’ve just let all those things go. I’m eating all the things I want to eat, I’m not worrying about my weight. I spend my life worrying about my weight.

Linda Robson asked about the time she was slammed for cradling her bump on the red carpet. Emily answered: “Yes, that was a new one. I’ve been criticised for a lot of things but… I naively thought that being pregnant would protect me from online abuse in some way. It really doesn’t.

“People will find something. People were writing, ‘you think you’re superior to everyone else by touching your bump’. What world are we living in if I can’t cradle my bump? It’s my first baby and I’m so excited.” She was referring to the BAFTA Awards when she walked the red carpet in a floor-length white gown with a cape.

After the glitzy event, Emily posted photos on her social media but was hit with nasty remarks over the fact she was holding her baby bump in the snaps. Emily responded to the comments after someone nastily wrote: “How heavy is the bump? Not seen a picture with your hand off it.”

The star perfectly hit back: “I find this so interesting. I, like so many women, get so many comments and questions like this (mainly from men) asking why I feel the need to always be cradling my baby bump, or touching it in some way. It seems to really irritate some people.
