Denise Welch moves into new house after stalker jailed for starting fire at her home

Loose Women panellist Denise Welch has previously opened up about dealing with a stalker and now he has been sent to jail, with the former Coronation Street actress sharing an update on social media

Denise Welch has been forced to move house after her stalker was sent to jail for setting a fire at her home.

The 65-year-old has been open and honest about her stalking nightmare which has left and her husband moving house. The Loose Women panellist told viewers that she and husband Lincoln Townley were left with no choice after the stalker set fire to a tip on their driveway which went into the garage.

Stalker Toraq Wyngard, 64, was jailed for seven years and seven months after the ordeal. Denise was at home at the time of the incident but a passer-by saw what was happening and informed them.

The incident occurred in September 2020. Two years later, after he was jailed at Chester Crown Court. Denise opened up about what happened during an episode of Loose Women.

She said she first realised something serious was going on when she heard Lincoln let out a “piercing scream” after answering the door. Denise said: “You know that scream from someone that you don’t want to hear. I ran downstairs and the boys were all outside. We had a skip in the drive and it was full of wood and very flammable stuff.

“It was ablaze and it was trying to catch on to the trees. There was lady at the door who I didn’t know saying, ‘I hope it’s alright I knocked on your door’. I thought, ‘My God, you’ve potentially saved our lives here’. Lincoln jumped into my car, drove it out and, at which point, the flames came through the side of the skip. They would have caught the car.”

Denise went on to explain that she and Lincoln are often apart for work reasons and that she has never been scare before but her stalking experience has changed that. Chester Crown Court had heard that the fire caused £4,285 worth of damage to Denise and Lincoln’s £800,000 home. Wyngard was then arrested nearby and police discovered a kitchen knife in his rucksack.

He pleaded guilty in court to stalking, causing serious alarm or distress, between September 18, 2020 and February 11, 2021. He also admitted to possession of a knife, criminal damage, and arson.

Denise has confirmed that she has now moved into a different house away from the family home in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The star took to X, formerly known as Twitter where she contacted a broadband company to complain that the service at her old house is yet to be cancelled so she is still paying for it.

She wrote: “For 2 weeks I’ve tried via your system to cancel my service. Every time it says someone will contact me. They haven’t. I don’t want to pay for a service I no longer need as we’ve moved.”

Frank Skinner unveils embarrassing moment that shook up MBE ceremony with Princess Anne

Speaking to the Loose Women panel this Wednesday, Frank Skinner remembered an awkward moment that made him somewhat bond with Princess Anne as she was rewarding him with his MBE

Awarded with an MBE for his services to entertainment, Frank Skinner has another reason to remember his big day and it involves Princess Anne.

The comedian, 67, was on the set of Loose Women this Wednesday, April 24, one year after receiving the prestigious award from the Princess Royal. But when Christine Lampard questioned him about the encounter, Frank admitted he’d been so impressed by the only sister of His Majesty King Charles III, that he was disoriented.

“I’ve met a few in my time”, Frank remembered, referring to the numerous royals he had bumped into during his 37-year-long career. “But when you meet Princess Anne, I’m thinking ‘wow it’s princess Anne.’” He then quipped: “I wonder if I can get my hair that high.”

    Frank Skinner
Frank Skinner told the Loose Women panel about an embarrassing experience with Princess Anne as she was awarding him an MBE for his services to entertainment
Frank explained that he had shared an awkward but hilarious moment with the Princess during the investiture ceremony, which took place at Buckingham Palace. “I’m looking at her and I’m getting my MBE so she says ‘thank you very much’”, Frank detailed. But the confusion quickly got to him as Princess Anne pinned his medal onto his jacket, prompting Frank to ask: “Do I not get my MBE?”

While she is known to be strong-willed, immensely private and one of the most hard working royals, Princess Anne is also reputed for her own flawless sense of humour. Frank was thus stunned when an amused Princess played along with his perplexed behaviour. “She said: ‘well you’re already wearing it – do you want another one?’”

This then prompted Frank to reply: “Could you get another one?”, before telling Christine Lampard, Brenda Edwards, Coleen Nolan and Olivia Attwood that Princess Anne was obviously joking. “I’d been so distracted she could have put anything on me (…) I wouldn’t have noticed,” he added.

But this was his second awkward encounter with a royal as, weeks prior to receiving his MBE, Frank told Lorraine host Ranvir Singh about another embarrassing experience with Sophie Wessex, Duchess of Edinburgh and wife of Prince Edward.

In December 2022, reports claimed that Frank had been shocked by the royal when she allegedly criticised his performance at the Royal Variety event, the Three Lions with David Baddiel, telling him “not to give up his day job.”

At the time of their interaction, Frank had tried to explain he’d battled his way through the performance to which Sophie Wessex reportedly claimed he was clearly “not used to live audiences” before shooting him an awkward look as he argued back. He recalled his experience on Absolute Radio.

Thankfully, tensions were quickly squashed when Sophie Wessex wrote Frank a heartfelt apology letter. Speaking to Ranvir in early April 2023, Frank then said: “I think it was just a misunderstanding.” He had then detailed that Sophie Wessex’s letter was a handwritten Christmas card. “It was handwritten, really lovely, polite and I thought this is one of the greater things about the posh, they know how to do manners. I’m a big fan of hers now, she’s my favourite.”

ITV Loose Women star Coleen Nolan shares her dementia fears as amid menopause changes

Loose Women star Coleen Nolan admits the fear of seeing her mother deteriorate with dementia left her fearing the worst when hormonal changes left her with ‘brain fog’

Coleen Nolan says she feared she was suffering with symptoms of ‘some form of dementia’ as she struggled to process the effects of the menopause on her body and mind.

The 59-year-old Loose Women star has explained that she feared the worst when she found herself becoming more forgetful and suffering from brain fog as her hormone levels naturally changed due to older age. But Coleen was alarmed by her forgetful spells – and admits she lives in fear of suffering from dementia as her mother battled the cruel disease.

Coleen’s mother, Maureen, passed away in 2012 after a long battle against Alzheimer’s, leaving the TV star and her sisters devastated. The memory of watching her mother’s health deteriorate has haunted Coleen, and she said she has been ‘panicking’ after noticing herself forgetting simple things like shoes and keys.

Taking to Instagram this week, Coleen candidly opened up about her experience of menopause. She said: “Just when I think the menopause symptoms might be lessening. I’ve been suffering with what I thought was the start of some form of dementia, I have to say. And because my mum had it I’ve been panicking.

But I’ve since been told the old fog brain of menopause is a real thing and although it’s quite scary, it’s also helped me calm down a bit and think ‘oh, it’s menopause’. So many things with menopause, isn’t there?”

Coleen added: “I thought I was over most of it but here I am, can’t remember anything. Honestly, can’t remember names when I’ve just said hello to someone. Can’t remember my phone, my shoes, my car keys, dogs. I’m surprised I manage to find the house when I go home. It has been a bit scary but I’m kind of okay now because I know what it is.” Taking a humours approach to her changes, she joked: “Anyway you might not be interested, but I won’t remember if you are or not, so.”

Coleen’s menopause experience reflects a similar reaction that iconic TV host Ulrika Johnson went through a decade ago. Opening up about her own menopause journey, the 56-year-old explained last year that she initially mistook her menopause at the age of 46 as early onset dementia. She told The Mirror: “The memory loss was the most terrifying symptom.

“We all have that thing of walking into a room and not remembering why we’ve gone in. You could put that down to being busy and having so many things to think about. But it was that thing of being in a conversation with somebody and not finding the next word.”

She also warned of unexpected changes in mood, confiding: “Whilst I’ve had the experience of depression and probably will do all my life, this was different. This didn’t feel like depression, it’s very hard to describe, I just felt very, very down and anxious.”

The star opted to speak out about her own experience in order to offer insight and support to other women. She said: “Like I think a lot of women do, I kept it to myself, because it’s women and we just soldier on.”

Linda Robson left husband after major disappointment in the bedroom

Loose Women star Linda Robson and ex-husband Mark Dunford ended their ‘sexless’ marriage after more than three decades. Now single, she said she isn’t looking for love

Linda Robson called it quits with her husband of three decades late last year – and she’s not held back on the intimate details of why the marriage ended.

The popular Loose Women host, 65, candidly opened up about her lacklustre union with Mark Dunford over the years and in recent times, shared her disappointment over their activity in the bedroom. Linda, who shot to fame on Birds Of A Feather, is now looking for a new place in Islington for just her and her dog after putting the family home on the market.

She previously revealed that she and Mark, the father of her two children, Louis, 32, and Bobbie, 28, “simply grew apart” and that they never had sex, labelling herself ‘celibate’. She confessed earlier this year that after losing her spark with Mark, she couldn’t be bothered to find love again and isn’t interested in all that ‘jiggy jiggy’.

As she returns to screens this morning for James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen, The Mirror takes a look at her former bumpy marriage and Linda’s first love she never quite got over…

Linda and Mark got to know each other as teens but didn’t start dating until years later. In 2017, she explained: “I used to babysit for Mark – he was a couple of years younger than me… I was 16 and he was 13 and a half, and he was a bit of a pain, to be honest. And we lived in the street next to each other.”

It wasn’t until they were both in the park one day, Linda with her eldest daughter Lauren, 40, that they crossed paths again. The pair dated and tied the knot in 1990.

However in recent times, Linda made it clear things weren’t as they seemed after more than three decades. While appearing as a panellist on ITV talk show Loose Women, she revealed the ups and downs of her marriage, admitting that things between them ‘weren’t plain-sailing’ and that she even considered herself ‘celibate’.

Linda confessed that she and Mark, whom she previously described as her ‘rock’, hadn’t had sex in two years, but that it didn’t bother her. “Can I just say I’ve been celibate for two years?” she began, “I can’t be a**** with all that [romance stuff]. I’m just happy going out with my mates and my children and my grandchildren.”

Before their separation last year, she insisted: “We’re still living together. We both love our kids more than anything else in the world, obviously, you have a few hiccups in every marriage. We’ve been married 33 years so it’s not going to be all plain sailing, but we’re still together at the moment.”

She later revealed their split in an interview with Woman magazine, confirming she was in fact single. She said of her ex-husband: “He’s a really good dad and we had some good years, but enough is enough. I’ve got my family and my kids around me. And I’m going on a cruise with Lesley Joseph in November. I’m keeping busy.”

And in an interview with OK!, she admitted they grew apart, explaining: “People do, sometimes, don’t they? We never had that much in common. I’m very sociable. Mark never enjoyed that side of thing.”

The mum believes they stayed together for more than 30 years for the sake of their children, who are now ‘grown up’ with their own lives. But while she’s officially single again, Linda is not looking for another relationship.

Speaking with OK! she squealed: “I don’t need a man. I’ve got my friends and my family. I’m not interested in dating, I’m too old now. I can’t be bothered with all that ‘jiggy jiggy’.”

Linda had eldest Lauren with her ex Tony Tyler, whom she describes as her ‘first love’. Not much is known about him but the pair were together for 11 years and welcomed their daughter before parting ways.

In 2016, Linda opened up about her heartbreak following her first love cheating on her. Speaking of her regret at how long she let her “serial cheat” ex be unfaithful, she said: “I caught him lots and lots of times, probably my biggest regret is that I didn’t finish it earlier. The strange thing was there was a family do not too long ago, and he actually blamed me for the break-up.”

She revealed how he went on to blame her for always being away for work for his infidelity. However, she furiously said at the time that the excuse was a ‘lie’ anyway, saying she “was always there”. In another segment of Loose Women, where the panel discussed the idea of how quickly they would move on and remarry after splitting up with a long-term partner, Linda was quizzed on her thoughts following her split from the father of her eldest.

“It took me a long time to get over that because that was my first love,” admitted Linda. “But I feel like I don’t really need a partner to love because I’ve got my children, my grandchildren, my sisters and my friends…”

Loose Women star Charlene White makes plea after ITV News co-star Rageh Omaar falls ill

Loose Women stars Charlene White and Denise Welch vented their anger over the sharing of ITV newsreader Rageh Omaar falling ill live on TV

Loose Women stars Charlene White and Denise Welch have vented their anger over the sharing of a clip of ITV newsreader Rageh Omaar falling ill live on TV.

The 56-year-old presenter started to noticeably struggle with his words during a report towards the end of the news programme on Friday and straight after the show, Rageh was rushed to hospital where he immediately received treatment. It remains unconfirmed as to the nature of his illness but experts believe that he was showing early signs of a mini-stroke, called ca transient ischaemic attack (TIA).

Charlene has taken umbrage at the number of people who have been sharing the video of Rageh falling ill, with many making wild assumptions as to what happened before any reports that he was suffering with medical difficulties. The Loose Women star hit out, writing on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter : “How about everyone stops posting and re-posting a video of a man becoming unwell live on TV. Who does that benefit? Sometimes real life isn’t just about upping your engagement figures, and upping your likes”.

Loose Women’s Charlene White has hit out at the sharing of a video of Rageh Omaar
Her feelings were echoed by her fellow Loose Women panellist, Denise Welch, who commented on Charlene’s post, writing: “My thoughts exactly Charlene. Honestly this world [angry face emojis].” Denise’s comment prompted another to add their disgust that Rageh was not taken off air to receive immediate attention. They wrote: “Totally agree with you both but where was ITV’s duty of care for the poor bloke. They should have cut the stream or went to a break immediately to get him medical attention. It’s not like it was a coughing fit etc.”

Loose Women’s Charlene White and Denise Welch unleash fury over Rageh Omaar video
A ITV News source told Mail on Sunday that the producers were trying to replace Rageh but he wanted to complete delivering the news: “The programme team were trying to replace him when they realised there was a problem. They sent the standby presenter to the set to take over but he insisted on remaining on air. No-one could get him out of his chair. He refused to move. Even when he was told he had to go and that the team had called for medical help. Everyone did everything they could to help him. Rageh is a consummate professional. He was determined to finish what he had started. It was an awful, awful night.”

Rageh was discharged the following day and is spending time at home recovering with his family. The mini-stroke condition, TIA, is caused by a temporary disruption in the blood supply to part of the brain caused by a travelling blood clot or the “furring” of the arteries.

Fiona Clark, who is a staff nurse, said she called ITV at 10.30pm and informed them that “as an ICU nurse who worked in stroke, that Rageh Omaar required an emergency ambulance, he was dysphasic, drooped left eye, slurred speech and agitated all Fast symptoms.”

Linda Robson was overcome with emotion as she was seen in tears at the Emirates Stadium during Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Wednesday night

Loose Women’s panellist and star of Birds of a Feather, Linda Robson, had an emotional moment that sparked quite a stir on social media.

A video was shared on X (previously known as Twitter ) where she was recorded shedding tears. Football fans saw Linda at the Emirates Stadium in North London witnessing a Premier League match between Arsenal and Bournemouth amid an incredibly intense title race.

The TV personality was evidently moved to tears as Arsenal F. C.’s anthem, The Angel (North London Forever), echoed throughout the stadium accompanied by fans belting out the lyrics. A spectator provided an explanation for her crying, revealing it was the first time Linda had heard the song, penned and sung by her son Louis Dunford, played during a match.

A social media user who uploaded the touching footage wrote: “Louis Dunford’s mother, Linda Robson, reacting to hearing her son’s song ‘North London Forever’ for the first time at the Emirates.” Very soon, numerous fans began posting comments on the heartening video of Linda, with quite a few expressing surprise to find out about the singing talent of Louis and that the famous Arsenal fan is indeed Linda’s son, reports the Express.

Yet another surprised fan mirrored these sentiments, writing: “LINDA ROBSON IS HIS MUM! ? F*** OFF! ? “.

One fan expressed their surprise on social media, saying: “I’m glad I’m not the only one that was shooketh when I discovered Linda Robson was louis dunford’s mother yesterday….” However, some social media users were already aware of the connection between Louis and Linda. One user joked: “The number of people shocked Linda Robson is Louis’s mum,” along with a crying with laughter emoji to mock the huge reaction to the news.

Two months after the song’s release, Arsenal fans shared it on social media and suggested it should become the football club’s pre-match anthem, an idea that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta fully supported. Linda confirmed her split from Louis’ father Mark Dunford in November last year.

The actress and window cleaning company owner Mark have two children together, while Linda also has a daughter Lauren, 40, from her previous relationship with Tony Tyler.

Loose Women viewers were left reeling after Gloria Hunniford delivered a brutal four-word dig to her co-star Denise Welch, a day after her explosive clash with a guest over Meghan Markle

Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford caught viewers off guard with a sharp four-word jibe towards co-star Denise Welch following her clash with a show guest.

Monday’s episode was hosted by Coleen Nolan, who was joined by panelists Gloria, Denise, and Brenda Edwards. However, they saw an unexpected bite from Gloria as Denise revealed her desire to leave the UK. As they chatted about how the Bank Holiday weather was affecting everyone’s moods, Gloria passionately declared her affection for the UK.She stated: “I tell you what though… I wouldn’t live anywhere else. Simple as that. Because I could live in the sunshine.” Denise countered with: “I would.” Suddenly, Gloria hit back with a pointed remark: “When are you going?,” leaving the audience visibly shocked and Denise momentarily tongue-tied, managing only laughter in reply to the playful dig.

Brenda joined in with a surprised: “Wow!” Viewers quickly took to social media to share their thoughts on the spicy dialogue, with one viewer remarking: “Gloria’s on fire today! ! #loosewomen.” Another added: “Oh wow, when said Gloria. When is Denise leaving?? #loosewomen.” Someone else perfectly captured the moment with one word: “Miaow!”.

Denise further explained: “There’s lots I love about this country but if I didn’t have my grandson now, I think I could leave.” Gloria, ever the optimistic one, reacted: “See now lots of reasons to stay,” and took a moment to reflect on the global situation. She said: “When you look at the world and other countries, you think, ‘This is not bad… the weather is.’”.

With a touch of resignation, Denise remarked: “Used to be – not now.” The show’s host, Coleen, tried to change the direction of the chat towards more positive areas, suggesting: “Anyway, onto to some feel good news please.” Earlier in the week, Denise shocked viewers as she ripped into a TV star live on the show.

The Loose Women panellist was seething on Monday when Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II and to King Charles III before he was crowned last year, was in the studio to speak about the monarch’s cancer battle. Dickie decided to address the elephant in the room – can the monarch ever repair his strained relationship with his son, Prince Harry?
Denise insisted she thought Meghan and Harry’s decision to leave Windsor and Frogmore Cottage behind was nothing short of logical. “If I may say, do you not think there is a reason why Harry did such a thing?”, she asked. Denise then summarised the heartbreak surrounding King Charles III’s family, wounds first stemming from the monarch’s marriage with Lady Diana “when he was in love with Camilla.””It ruined a lot of Diana’s life”, Denise claimed. The former Coronation Street star then recalled how Harry walked publicly behind his mother’s coffin and accepted Queen Camilla as his stepmother. “Then he has a wife who is completely and continually trashed by the media, including your good self”, Denise added while turning to Dickie. “I am just sick to death of the bashing that this woman gets (…) we continually berate this woman every day.” Denise furiously doubled down: “Why would they not walk out? Why would they want to spend their life in a country that hated them?”

Denise Welch shocks as she rips into TV star live on air as they come to blows over Meghan Markle

Dickie Arbiter locked horns with Denise Welch on the set of Loose Women this Monday, May 6, as the panellist took a stand against the harsh criticism targeting Meghan Markle.

Meghan Markle has come under fire more than once throughout her time on Prince Harry ‘s arm and Denise Welch has had enough of the relentless backlash.

The Loose Women panellist was seething this Monday, May 6, when Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II and to King Charles III before he was crowned last year, was in the studio to speak about the monarch’s cancer battle.

But while the conversation began smoothly, it inevitably took a turn when Dickie addressed the elephant in the room – can the monarch ever repair his strained relationship with his son, Prince Harry?

Royal fans will recall the latter snubbed life as a senior working royal alongside his wife Meghan for a fresh start across the Atlantic and the Duchess of Sussex has been more criticised than ever before since.

Meghan also faced a wave of criticism when she was first rumoured to be dating Prince Harry in 2016 and the couple have publicly condemned the negative media scrutiny they have both received, personally, as a couple and as parents for their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

For Denise, Meghan and Harry’s decision to leave Windsor and Frogmore Cottage behind was nothing short of logical and tensions emerged at lightning speed as she vehemently defended them – calling Dickie out for his own criticism of Meghan Markle.

“If I may say, do you not think there is a reason why Harry did such a thing?”, the 65-year-old initially asked, referring to the Duke’s decision to leave the UK for the US.

Denise then summarised the heartbreak surrounding King Charles III’s family, wounds first stemming from the monarch’s marriage with Lady Diana “when he was in love with Camilla.””It ruined a lot of Diana’s life”, Denise claimed. She then recalled how a young Prince Harry witnessed his mother’s death after a fatal car chase with paparazzi before he was forced to walk publicly behind her coffin and accept Queen Camilla as his stepmother.

“Then he has a wife who is completely and continually trashed by the media, including your good self”, Denise added while turning to Dickie, while some audience members began to applaud her. “I am just sick to death of the bashing that this woman gets (…) we continually berate this woman every day.”

When Dickie argued that the Sussexes have received criticism over their choice to leave the Royal Family, Denise furiously doubled down: “Why would they not walk out? Why would they want to spend their life in a country that hated them?”

Coleen Nolan quickly intervened to stop the situation from escalating, reminding the panellist that she hadn’t expected a “debate” to take place in the studio. But Denise continued to seethe as she added: “don’t have a guest on (…) I can say what I like!”

The segment left many ITV viewers with their jaws dropped as they swarmed over to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts. “Well done Denise, you wiped the floor with Dickie. Thankyou for not being scared to be a voice for H@M”, one of them commented.

Another agreed: “Makes me laugh that people are saying Denise isn’t nice for standing up for Meghan and Harry, yet it’s fine for so many “nice” people to have s****** them off for the past 6+ yrs”, just as a third applauded the panellist for her strong stance: “Well said Denise, you are the voice of fairness and reason.”

However, one TV watcher predicted a reprimand was ahead for Denise due to Coleen’s intervention. “I think Denise is going to be getting a firm talking to when @loosewomen is off air! However if she is passionate about a subject why shut her down? I thought #LooseWomen promotes strong women and opinions?”

Judi Love has revealed Lorraine Kelly’s honest response after she was caught looking unimpressed in the crowd as everyone clapped the Scottish presenter for her special win at Sunday’s BAFTA TV awards.

Kicking off Monday’s Loose Women, Judi, 43, who spoke out before the ITV chat show airing, revealed what really happened and Lorraine’s, 64, response after she saw her at the ITV studios earlier today (13 May).

Judi explained: “You know what, my dress was very tight, I was trying to sit like a lady. The camera was right there, I thought: ‘Okay, this is your moment’ you know it’s going to be on TV, so I just always get prepared.

“I was trying to be regal, the thing is, I stood up and gave Lorraine a standing ovation. They showed the bit with Andi standing up but missed me out, only showing me going…” as she recreated the face.

Judi continued: “My eyes are so big anyway and I’ve got a very expressive face.” Talking about bumping into Lorraine earlier on Monday after Sunday’s BAFTA TV awards, Judi said: “Well, I walked up to Lorraine and as I was about to come [over], she put her hand up and I thought: ‘Oh my gosh, this is going to be it!’

“She said: ‘Judi!’, the Queen that she is. I went: ‘Oh my God, babes, have you seen the meme, have you seen the side eye?’ She was like: ‘Oh, seen it, I know you, love you, you love me, I’m good.’ So we did our own version to all the people who tried to make this something it wasn’t.”

Lorraine had taken to the stage to receive her award on Sunday night to mark her 40 years on TV, which was handed to her by Succession star Brian Cox. As she bowed out of her acceptance speech, Lorraine cheerfully quipped: “I’m on the telly tomorrow, but I’m going to celebrate tonight. Thank you so much!”

Cameras then showed I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec grinning cheerfully while clapping away. Then The Sixth Commandment star Anne Reid was shown politely clapping along.

But as cameras moved to Judi, she could be seen looking far from impressed, seemingly refusing to applaud, and rolling her eyes. The moment was seized upon by those watching the awards show from home – sparking a flurry of amused commentary.

Prior to Loose Women, Judi had the perfect response to the viral moment in a cheeky social media post. Taking to Instagram, she shared a clip of the moment and wrote: “After last night incident and now this morning becoming international news! I’d like to make an official statement.. Swipe left! @lorraine @lorrainekellysmith.”

In the following clip from this morning at the ITV studios, Judi and Lorraine stand back-to-back, with Judi side-eyeing the Scottish legend. Feigning a disapproving stare, Lorraine has her arms folded before they both burst into laughter.

Denise Welch hits out over Ofcom complaints as she further defends Meghan Markle

Loose Women was the subject of complaints last week over an episode that included a debate about the Royal Family and panelist Denise Welch has since addressed the backlash

Denise Welch has addressed complaints to Ofcom after a debate about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently, with her having been a vocal supporter of the couple.

It was announced just days ago that regulatory body Ofcom had received more than a hundred complaints from Loose Women viewers over a recent episode of the ITV show. It had included a discussion about the Royal Family.

During the episode on Monday last week, panellist Denise, 65, defended Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42. She clashed with guest Dickie Arbiter, 83, who was formerly a press secretary to the late Queen and her son King Charles III.

Denise has since further defended Meghan – who married into the Royal Family in 2018 – in a post on Instagram. She took to the platform following the episode and addressed the complaints, suggesting that they are “utterly pathetic”.

Denise’s post included a photo of Meghan that’s believed to have been taken on her trip to Nigeria. The latter visited the country with her husband Prince Harry recently. Denise wrote about the former actor in the accompanying caption.

Th presenter wrote: “[Meghan] has been a spokeswoman for women of colour and gender equality since she was 11 yrs old. She has held a place on the world stage for years before she met Harry as a UN women’s advocate.”

She continued in the caption: “I am appalled that this woman is abused and berated by the public and media on a daily basis. Not many people could mentally cope with the hate she contends with. No wonder her husband took her away and despite everything they are thriving. Their reception in Nigeria has been wonderful to see.”

Denise concluded the post by telling her followers on the social media platform recently: “Last week I defended them against one of their detractors on tv and received 103 complaints from Ofcom!!! Good. Also utterly pathetic.”

The discussion on Loose Women attracted attention last week. As reported at the time, Dickie said at one point: “[Prince] Harry has been rubbishing the family since he walked out in 2020.” He went on to mention the memoir Spare, released last year, and various TV interviews.

Denise questioned: “Do you not think there is a reason why [he] did such a thing?” She then mentioned experiences in Prince Harry’s life, including the highly-publicised death of his late mother Princess Diana when he was a child and his stepmother Queen Camilla ‘s introduction to his family.

She later told Dickie: “Then he has a wife who is continually trashed by the media, including your good self, if I may say – when she is on a world stage, doing a lot of good for a lot of people.” Denise added during the discussion last week: “I am just sick to death of the bashing that this woman gets.”

Dickie, as previously reported, said that he was “not going to argue” with her and suggested that she had read “too many tabloid stories”. Denise said that she’s “read a lot” about Meghan and thinks “it’ a disgrace, the way she’s treated.”
